i think the thing that is interesting to me about teruhashi is how she not only doesnt hate the attention she gets, not only enjoys the attention she gets, but actively and punishingly chases it. While also simultaneously hating it.

She cant get any peace or quiet, she can’t express her real personality, yet she pushes herself to know everything about everyone so she doesnt have any flaws whatsoever, she can’t just be the sweet pretty girl, she has to effectively make it so everyone she meets forms a one sided relationship with her because it feels like she cares about them. not only that, She initially is totally friendless, because “girls are intimidated by perfection and anyway i dont have time” or something (i don’t remember what she actually says but it was along those lines)

in the beginning she isn’t standing up to anyone, even creepy guys who clearly dont have her best interests, who internally she hates. The only time she gets close is her brother because he not only disrespected her but publicly embarrassed her in front of someone she cared about.

Initially it seems like the only person who sees her as a human is saiki, to everyone else she’s practically an idol, or even a fictional character. Which is insane because she’s NOT. She’s a 16/17 year old girl in highschool.

And despite all of this, she pursues it. She needs everyone to admire her more than they admire anyone. She is willing to put herself through eating actual trash to achieve this. She lives her life like an idea rather than a real person, like she’s a writer except the character she’s writing is herself.

Someone please send her ass to therapy

okay last night i kept having dreams about posting terusai headcanons to tumblr im being so srs im gonna try to piece together what i remember

one was a comic of young terusai and i remember that one best soo im gonna base it on that. im going to ignore that terusai didnt go to the same elementary school okay. okay

i think when terusai were kids teruhashi was a lot less concerned with being perfect because, well, she was like five. and ohh she was an autistic little sweetheart when she was five

i think that little kusuo would be looking at flowers, zoning out, and little kokomi would come up to him and would be like

"do you like that one?" [what? yeah i guess.] "that one's a tree lily! theyre perrenials which meand they come back eeeevery year! and they get suupper tall too!! likkee some can be twoo meters tall isnt that cool? thats as tall as mister ___! they reallyyy like being in the sun too!! well umm they can also grow in partial shade which is really cool but they lovvee the sun!!!!!!! thatd why you have to plant them in the sun do that in the summer they get superrrrr big!"

and then whenever she leaves he does some monologue in his head about how he wanted to he alone, but that whole time he had been listening. he didnt tune her out or look away from her, not once

I thought of a possible way to solve Saiki's problem in the drawing class episode. He needed to draw a portrait of Teruhashi, but he's forced to draw whatever he thinks about with 100% accuracy, which is too attention-grabbing. But perhaps he could have thought of some obscure anime or video game character (of which he has no shortage of examples) who looks sort of like Teruhashi and drawn that character perfectly, producing a cartoonish drawing that looks sufficiently like her... Okay, I guess he probably plays mostly rpgs, and doing this would have led to a scene where he ends up with a drawing of Teruhashi that has a ton of weird accessories.

But you know, I think there's a schoolgirl character in his copy of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K who looks reallyyy similar...
