I'm curious about our shared oc, Felicidad Ruíz.

I know she's around Fuega's age (the same age, a bit younger, or a bit older?) and that she is the daughter of one of the band members, Alejo Ruíz. I know she's a student at Auradon Prep in my universe.

But I was wondering what kind of interests and dreams you'd think she'd have? Would she be in any clubs?

She loves music but is she any good at it?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions. I'm trying to finish up the fourth part of my Invisible Truth au.

Felicidad is a year older than Fuega, I'd say.

She's cocky, passionate, and stubborn, but also very caring and protective. She doesn't respect authority on principle; they have to earn her respect first. However, her passion burns quietly, so she doesn't just go around throwing rules to the wind and all that.

If she cares about something, she cares very hard about it. If she doesn't, it slides over her like water on a duck.

She's basically already a Madrigal due to how protective she is of the little ones and the "outcasts" including Fuega.

She loves rainbows and basically all the colors, but her favorites are pink and red. She's a tad bit lazy when it comes to physical labor, and much prefers to write songs in her spare time then cook or clean.

She is actually good at singing and playing several instruments (probably not as good as Elmira in the Invisible Truth, but close enough). She plays guitar, piano, tambourine, the drums, and the maracas.

I think she'd try the acapella group, but quit because she doesn't like the sound of music without instruments. She'd try band with Zoey, but quit because she doesn't like the uniformity of it all. Same with choir. I honestly think she might resort to starting her own club.

In both universes, she'd want to be a musician. In the Invisible Truth, maybe she'd start her own band. In my au, I think she'd take over her father's.

Also, just because this image of her reaction to Uma and Ben is really funny, I'm gonna say she's a hardcore Bal shipper, and was SUPER OFFENDED that Ben seemed to be cheating on Mal with Uma XD

Currently just Stranger Things, but past fandoms were LoTR, a brief dabble in the MCU, X-Files, RPF which shall not be named, and uh... Dawson's Creek. Yes, I am old.

Yes! I love interacting with people, and I figure if they're kind enough to leave a comment, I ought to be kind enough to respond. That said, I'm way behind on Kinktober comments.

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have never written an angsty ending in fic, because fic is my happy place. I have written some bittersweet ones, though.

Happiest? Damn. I mean, I haven't actually ended a Hellcheer longfic yet but Soul is absolutely a HEA.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

People have been surprisingly kind throughout my fic history. There have been some trolls and dickheads, but for the most part everyone has been super generous.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes! Usually kinky stuff, which is where I have the most interest. I find vanilla stuff kind of boring, so there's usually some power dynamic or another in there to pique my interest and keep me inventing weird stuff for them to do.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I wrote an X-Files/LoTR crossover in high school but that's not that weird.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I've been made aware of.

Yes!

I have, with my best friend. We wrote together in high school, and in some early fandoms. I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again, but it's a funny alchemy to find someone who fits your vibe and who you bounce off correctly and who wants to tell the same story you're telling.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Radu/Elmira. There's a deep cut.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

There's one in another fandom that is legitimately my only unfinished work in that fandom and it makes me sad. I do have a lot of half-started WIPs in draft that I haven't posted, so I guess those count. Maybe the western AU?

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I am decent at dialogue and description, and that I am better than some writers but worse than others. This is as close as I am legally allowed to come to complimenting my own work, thank you for understanding.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Literally everything else.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I would absolutely either have someone else help me, or I would write it in English and italicize it to indicate it's in another language.

I genuinely love Soul and am so proud of it, but I don't know that it's my favorite. I don't even know that I have a favorite, because I love them all for different reasons and get sad when the ones I am excited about don't hit as hard as the ones I'm 'meh' on.

Sometimes ‘I love you’ is said a little differently. In this case, Jade tells Titania he thinks she looks similar to her favorite person.

“This picture looks different than your others,” Jade says. He studies the array of framed photos Titania had taken with her ghost camera. They were mostly of her and her first year friends, with a surplus of pictures with Grim, and quite a few featuring himself as well. But a newer one she’d hung in between his visits had a different vibe to it. It depicts a lone woman sitting in a chair with a refined air around her. She looks directly at Jade as he investigates her photo, and he can’t help but notice a few striking similarities between the woman and Titania. 

Titania comes to stand beside him and when she notices where he’s looking, she smiles. “Oh, that’s not a photo. Theseus drew it.”

Jade hummed at the mention of Theseus. He came from the same world as her and was very much a rock for her when she grew tired of running errands for Crowley. “It’s very well done,” Jade comments. “May I ask who it is?”

“Ah,” Titania’s breath catches in her throat and she looks away from the drawing. She never liked talking about her past much, and since Theseus had gone through all the trouble of hand drawing the woman, Jade assumes she must be someone important to Titania’s previous life. 

“You don’t have to tell me, you know,” he adds, his voice soft as he reaches to brush her knuckles with him. She smiles and leans her head against his arm before speaking. 

“Her name was Elmira. She was… she was my mother,” Titania admits. “For a long time, she raised me on her own. Before she remarried, I mean, so we were really close and… I mentioned to Theseus about missing her so he drew me a picture to hang up with the others.” 

Jade is silent for a moment, letting Titania catch her breath and blink away the tears he knew she wants him to ignore. While he does, he also hugs her closer to him and rests his chin on top of her head so she can feel his heartbeat. “She must have been a wonderful person,” he finally says. “After all, you turned out so wonderful.”

Titania laughs and snuggles farther into his chest. “Yeah,” she agrees. “I really admired her.”

“You look just like your mother, you know,” he says. “You have the same curls. And her eye shape is similar to your’s. Plus, your noses look almost identical.” 

“...You really think so?” 

He nods. “I bet you take after her a lot more than you realize. I wish I could have met her.” 

“That’s sweet,” she smiles, “but I don’t know if Mom would have liked you.”

“How rude,” Jade teases. “I’ll have you know, I am a delightful person to be around. I’m sure your mother and I would have gotten along wonderfully.”

“Oh, Jade,” Titania says, “she hated mushrooms.”

“...Hm.”

Titania roars with laughter at his sudden change in tone and he can’t help but feel a little victorious at having managed to cheer up without Grim’s help. Still, he’ll need to really think about how someone could possibly dislike mushrooms. I mean, can you even imagine that!?

A Little LB/BM Character Color Theory

Being a film nerd has been a huge part of my life.  I watch endless movie breakdowns, reviews, things you missed, etc.  One of my favorite fellow cinephiles would do breakdowns and always highlight color theory and the ways they were used in whatever film or show she was breaking down.  After a couple of recent convos here, I felt a bit inspired.

Bree Matthews (Name meaning: high, noble, exalted)

Bree’s root is red and Arthur’s power is blue (more on these colors later) which combine to make purple.  Purple (at least in the U.S.) denotes nobility, royalty, magic, mystery, and the supernatural. Since I am an 80’s baby, I also think of the film and book The Color Purple and how the symbolism of pain and bruising were used (Pain welded blade/wound turned weapon).  When Bree forges Excalibur again, the stone in the pommel is described as a deep purple which I thought was an intentional choice for Bree.  In my reading it is stated that purple is seen as mysterious and supernatural due to its rarity in nature.  Also, a fitting trait for Bree.  In The Color Purple it is stated, “I think it pisses God off if you walk past the color purple in a field and don’t notice it.”  Indeed.

Selwyn Emrys Kane (Name meaning: Manor friend, immortal)

Sel’s aether is described as silver blue.  Some of the other colors associated with him are gold and black.  Silver hints at modern affluence and intuition (his hunches that something wasn’t right in LB).  It can symbolize enlightenment (that damn classics major) and is also enigmatic (so Sel).  The blue symbolizes trust, reliability, and loyalty.  Sel’s gold eyes denote prestige and influence (oh those mesmers!).  Though they go through different phases of gold to amber and burnt sienna, the striking gold glow of Sel’s eyes set him apart and identify him at the same time.  Lastly, the mystery of the color black.  Sel has charcoal and obsidian feathers tattooed on his back.  Black feathers can symbolize not a physical death, but the end of something unwanted (relationships and/or situations).  It is also said that seeing a black feather is a message from an ancestor encouraging forward movement.  We only read about this before he takes Bree to the Davis’ house to snoop.  I know he owlshifts (not getting into owl symbolism here) but I thought that was an interesting detail. Sel’s favorite color also symbolizes elegance and power and exudes authority.  Black seduces and intimidates, but also denotes power and protection (think the selection gala).  

Nicholas Davis (Name meaning: Victory of the people)

There is not a ton of color theory for Nick, however the colors that are associated with him are pretty spot on.  Nick’s room is described as having blues and whites.   Nick is also blue-eyed (described as storm-cloud blue).  The color white denotes purity and innocence as well as providing hope and clarity.  It symbolizes balance, simplicity, and clarity along with a fresh start.  The way Nick shows up for Bree and is a safe place for her, a place of clarity and calmness is sooo him.  As I mentioned earlier the other color that shows up for him is blue, symbolizing trust, loyalty, and responsibility.  Nick is the golden boy, the one that everyone looks to no matter how uncomfortable and reluctant he is to accept this.  As a side note, his name (a variation of my name, Nikoe) which means victory of the people makes me think of how he ambiguously explained to Bree that he could see another way to live.  So curious to see where that goes. 

William Sitterson (Name meaning: Willing protector)

Oh William!  I just want to squeeze him Elmira style (sorry, 80’s baby, 90’s kid).  The green of Sir Gawain symbolizes harmony and health.  A color that calms and revitalizes the body.  If that isn’t our precious William I don’t know what is!  This color is seen everywhere in nature and gives us hope and promise of growth.  William has continuously offered safety through his prioritization of consent and healing.  Green is an exemplifier of optimal health and well-being (think green smoothies!)  Green denotes a balance between head and heart.  Green maintains order and is refreshingly considerate.  William is green personified!

Last but not least…

Erebus Verelian (Name meaning: Personification of darkness who was also married to Nyx in Greek lore, which is the name he called Natasia, but I digress)

The colors associated with Erebus are black (smoke, shadow crown, void cuffs, black aether spear, wings made of ink) and red, deep, dark red, almost black.  Since I have already discussed the symbolism of the color black, I will discuss the red here.  Before I do though, I thought it was a nice touch to have the black of the Great Devourer, devour all the light in his vicinity, “Black smoke in the form of a man, filling the air with the scent of brimstone.  The air nearest his form is leached of light.” Red is the color of passion and energy.  It is strong and powerful and can be used to warn and signal caution and danger.  Bree’s red root only activates when she is threatened, and The Shadow King is threat incarnate.  It is also a symbol of revenge and desire.  We know that the SK wants his court back and seeks revenge on Arthur for defeating him.  We see the same red in Valec’s eyes when he is “battle ready.”  Red is striking, bold, and dominant.  It is the color of scars and bloodshed.  The deep red of Erebus’ eyes are ancient rage and power ready to do battle for what he feels is rightfully his. 

Whew!  That was a lot!  Curious to hear if I missed any colors (I’m sure I did).

Lance got viciously slandered by Velma and Evan a few posts back, which is unfair because Velma has more in common with Lance than she thinks--they're both somewhat shallow, self-absorbed, simple-appetites type people. They both like things that feel good and hate things that feel bad, and neither of them cares to plumb the depths of Sim emotion or behavior much beyond that.

Plus, and I don't care if it's conceited to say this? he's kind of hot.

He's hotheaded, with very sharp, angular features, and he is altogether not my favorite, but never say never and all that.

Edward St. Germain

Yes, it's Evan's younger, nerdier brother. His coloring is too much like Velma's father for me to be very comfortable with this one.

Devon Miller

If there are Sims in the background of some of my screenshots, chances are they include Devon. He's everywhere Velma goes, yet so far she has never succeeding in introducing herself to him. I like his eyes and mouth, and his softer features in general. Some of these guys are going to bequeath such a beak to their offspring, but not Devon!

Joel Trent

A preppy trust fund kid who lives with Andy Oswald, next door to Velma. He has lately gotten caught up with the rebel social group (there... basically are no other social groups in Elmira City anymore), proving that the trust-fund-kid-to-anarchist-cosplayer pipeline remains in good working order. I don't really like him and I think Velma would hate him, but you know, they only have to bang the once.

her favorite author is jane austen, shes a huge classic lit nerd and listens to audiobooks constantly

her sharp teefies are veneers that were an absolute goddamn NIGHTMARE to get put in, because unicorn magic is healing-based and they just kept fucking popping off

shes actually SUPER fucking powerful as far as unicorns go, but being able to refine and direct her magic in a useful way is Very Very Dangerous to do on her own, and theres no unicorns around to help guide her

yes thats their real last name. they fucked up the application for name change and never corrected it because they were too socially anxious

theyre a DDR master and will hog the machine at their local arcade for 12+ hours if you let them

theyre also a huuuuuuuge anime/manga/video game enthusiast. were it not for my infinite mercy as their god, they would be addicted to genshin impact

theyre actually the only native resident of the city that everyone lives in, called The Island of Steve (the name changes pretty often lol), everyone else moved from different states or countries

they grew up in the foster system, and were bullied so heavily by their foster siblings for being autistic and having a severe stutter/other speech impediments that they became mute. when they were younger it was by choice, but now as an adult their vocal cords have completely atrophied and theres no chance of recovering their ability to speak

BUT. sign is taught as a second language in all schools by law, so its a little easier on them to adapt

as such, they dont have a voice claim, but the song i most associate with their character is Worlds Smallest Violin by AJR. sometimes i think about paying someone to translate it into asl so i can make an accurate animatic of them "singing" it

third is elmira quickroot, the charms specialist and recordskeeper

fucking ultimate weirdgirl, i love her to death and i want to rattle her around like a maraca. she's a faerie, very british, and yes she does dress like that in her daily life. this is not a faerie thing shes just fuckin weird. her job on the team is to record absolutely everything that happens to the letter (for legal and billing reasons), and doing more intricate charm/rune work (which is essentially like magical computer coding)

elmira has perfect memory! much more intense and detailed than the eidetic memory or hyperthymesia that humans can have, literally every second of every day has been perfectly branded into her memory since the day she pupated into an adult. she doesnt know why, this isnt a normal faerie thing either, and her coping mechanisms for escaping the constant recall are.. not good, to say the least

shes a HUUUUUGE textiles nerd, she makes all of her own clothing on as minute a level as she can manage- by which i mean she weaves her own fabric, spins her own yarn, makes her own patterns, and on and on and on. dont get me wrong, she can and will raid the local Fantasy Michaels or Joann Fabrics for any supplies she can get, but the girl is kind of bugfuck nuts and on bad days she'll get really deep into it

her home country is a cut off faerie-only kingdom in the UK called The Realm, made from the ruins of an old castle built by giants waaaaaaaay back in the day, i need to do concept art of it because its genuinely beautiful

her voice claim issss. complicated. the closest human equivalent is florence welsh but pitched up, but in reality it would sound way less human. the way i usually describe it is if someone sang a sentence backwards into a microphone and then reversed the audio. i might do a demo of what i mean at some point lol, but thats pretty common for faeries

the only guy in the world who says his music taste is everything and really means it

he has achondroplasia, but is shorter than the average height for people w the same condition. that plus the general constantly rotting a little faster than your body can replenish its cells thing means that he has a lot of health issues

BUT. he has a whole platoon of specialists that have dedicated their careers to keeping him healthy and with a good quality of life. its my city and doctors can be good if i want them to be. their work and the treatments he goes through are inspired pretty heavily by the Lenin Lab, which i recommend you check out this video by Ask a Mortician to learn more about it!!

i have an au that i write with my bestie where some of the characters in mrawdrs work at a strip club, and toufor comes in to do nothing but eat chicken wings for the entire night and then tip $500 to every dancer. they all love him dearly and this vibe extends into the core canon storyline

he cannot perform any kind of magic! due to the way his soul-body situation works, he has no way to access the magic inside of his body, or the stuff that exists in the environment ambiently. going along with that, any magic performed on HIM takes much more "juice" to actually take effect and takes MUCH longer to do so. he isnt a complete dead zone (HAAAAAAAAAA) but his... tolerance? is much higher.

As the protagonist, Jolene was a member of the Chaos Pirates. She was given a chance to prove herself to Morcubus but ended up crashing and suffering amnesia. She was then rescued by Derek and Selena and taken to Skyforce headquarters, whom she sided with. She later realized her previous allegiance in a dream sequence and acted as a double agent when she given a chance to "redeem" herself by Morcubus, she was able to turn the tides on the Chaos Pirates and save the skies from their reign.

Jo in MySims Agents is similar to Kim Possible, being a red-headed hero with a blonde bumbling male sidekick and having a romantic relationship with said sidekick after they've been best friends for a long while. She even hums the theme song to Kim Possible when she's idle. In fact, the comic series that Buddy made based off their adventures is called "Jo Possible".

The only difference between the two is that Kim is a freelance hero while Jolene is part of the MySims Protection Agency, which is an organization.

She's also similar to Sam from Totally Spies, being that they both have similar personality traits, work for a organization dedicated to the protection of civilians (SPA and WHOOP) and even have a blonde partner that wears red (Clover in Sam's case, Buddy in Jolene's case).

It's implied that Jolene might have a singing talent, sometimes when idle, In MySims, she'll hum the MySims theme song. In MySims Agents, she'll hum either the theme tune or Kim Possible's theme song from Kim Possible.

The basis of her personality was that of magical girl protagonists, since she has a strive to protect and help others while carrying a fondness for romance and fun. She even mentions the genre in one of her quotes in MySims about "Those girls you see in shows". She even has the voice actress of Cure Heart from Doki Doki Pretty Cure in the Japanese version.

In one of her quotes, she mentions that most of the spooky Sims are "jerks" She was referring to Morcubus, Yuki, Esma, Vincent, and Brandi. Who are antagonistic and have the Spooky interest. Being that she's friends with Violet (since she likes fun Sims), she's aware that not all of them are mean, just some of them.

9. Favorite character to write?

Ohhhh, man… I think, probably Rapunzel? Her voice always tends to come easiest to me!! That said, Varian is SO MUCH FUN to write, because he's literally just... a tightly wound ball of emotion and reaction and !!!!! all the time, ahaha. (Bak from DGM is also... very fun. Hmmm.)

12. What WIPs do you have going now? Are you excited about them?

I have quite a few WIPs rn!! The three I'm most excited about is Faults of the Mind, my NaNoWriMo project novel (still only 1/3 done), and a post KHIII fic involving Final Fantasy and Union Cross characters and storylines!! (Mainly because I was playing a lot of KHUX this weekend, and made myself sad over the dandelion kids.) FotM is the one I'm most excited about, though; this most recent chapter introduces the final plot threads for the story, and then I get to write all the real fun stuff!! I'm so excited!!!!

13. Are there any things that might have happened in any of your stories, but you changed them at the last minute? (So-and-so dies, they don’t actually kiss, main character has long extended ballet-based dream sequence, etc.)

Quite a few!! Most are small things—like, more recently, chapter 2 of FotM was going to show the whole conversation scene between Adira and Yasmin; Varian was also supposed to have a talk with Elmira about the Dark Kingdom, but I cut those scenes out because they took away focus from the main plot. (Still have the drafts, tho, ahaha).  

For bigger changes, though… the main one that comes to mind is Labyrinths— I originally planned on having Varian die/be injured by the black rocks at the end of chapter 5, when the Moon was caging Rapunzel and Varian to the mountain. I took it out because I couldn't think of a feasible way for him to survive it and escape from the golem… so I planned on him being impaled by the golem in chapter 7. But then Rapunzel saved him again!! And in the end Varian died from something totally unrelated to impalement, so… yeah, that got tossed. (Impaled!Varian art was a major inspiration for starting the story in the first place, which was why I was so gung-ho for it at all. In the end I had Moon "stab" Varian in the very last chapter, just so I could tell myself I’d honored it best I could... 😅)

You and Jared talked over your pizza for hours, eventually picking at cold globs of cheese on paper plates.

You chuckled as the waitress walked by giving you both the stink-eye, “I think she wants her table back, Jare.”

He smiled and nodded his head, “Yeah. I’ll leave a pretty big tip though to make up for it.”

You dug in your purse, “I can contribute.”

He waved his hand towards you, “No. You drove here, you’re helping me. I’m paying.”

You put your hands up dramatically, “Okay, Mr. Padalecki.”

You got up as he threw a 100 dollar bill on the table and softly smiled towards him. He was going through, arguably, the worst thing in his life and he was being kinder to strangers than you’ve ever seen someone be before in your life. He blew your mind. Literally.

As you walked out of the restaurant, Jared caught the waitress. “Money is on the table upstairs. Keep the change.”

She nodded and smiled as she walked up the stairs, probably figuring he gave her a couple extra bucks for a tip. Not seventy. You both snickered as you heard a muffled squeal filter through the restaurant.

Brisk Spring air hit you both as you exited ‘Atlas’. You instinctively wrapped your arms around your torso, trying to keep heat from escaping your body. Turning towards Jared you asked, “What do you want to do now? Go back to the hotel?”

He sighed and put his hands in his pockets as he looked down Market Street. “I kind of want to explore down here. This looks like a really cool street.”

You shrugged, “Okay. Which way do you want to go then?”

Jared pointed and you followed. You walked around Market Street, continuing conversations about yourself and answering any questions that Jared had. Every once and awhile you’d ask him a personal question. You both were getting to know each other pretty well, even in the short 24 hours that you had been together. It was nice. You had only dreamed of meeting Jared at a convention one day. But walking down an everyday street of your life with your favorite star by your side? This was something you couldn’t even fathom.

“Y/N?”

You looked up towards the gentle giant with a smile, “Yeah?”

“You kind of disappeared there for a second. You okay?” Worry was etched across his face. Was he really worried about you? Did he think he was boring you?

Chuckling you responded, “Yeah. I was just thinking about how crazy this is.”

“How crazy what is?”

You tucked hair behind your ear, “This. Meeting you. Eating with you. Walking around with you.” You exhaled deeply, “This was something that I never imagined in my life would have happened. I always thought I would just meet you for a couple seconds at a convention and that would be it.”

He nodded with a wide smile, “I guess this is kind of crazy, isn’t it?”

You softly scoffed while you dug in your purse for your keys, “Yeah. Don’t get me wrong though, even though the circumstances completely suck, I’m happy to have met you and help you out.” As you approached your car, Jared opened your door for you. You smiled as you slid into the driver’s seat, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He paused with your door open, “I’m glad to have met you too, even though the circumstances.” He gave you a small smile before he shut your door and walked around to the passenger side. As he settled into the passenger seat and fished his phone out of his jeans pocket, he blew out a long breath. “I’m nervous,” he said as you started the ignition.

You smiled and laid a hand on his knee trying to provide some comfort, “I know. But this will be good. I’m sure people are starting to wonder where you are at this point, and Jensen will be the best person to let know where you are right now.” You took your hand off his knee and shifted the car into reverse, pulling out of the parking spot to go back to the hotel.

Jared nodded as he unlocked his phone, “You’re right. I should at least let someone know where I am.” He sighed one last time before he hit Jensen’s contact in his phone and began the call.

You swear the phone didn’t even ring once before you heard a muffled, “Jared. Thank god.”

Jared chuckled, “Hey Jensen.”

You focused on the road as you merged onto the highway, trying not to eavesdrop on the conversation between Jared and his best friend, but it was hard not to.

“I’m okay man, I ju-just needed to get away.” Jared cleared his throat, “I’ll be back before filming starts.”

You couldn’t hear much of Jensen on the other end of the line. Jared rolled his eyes a couple times, causing you to smile and giggle softly. They were literally brothers.

Jared turned towards you, “Where is the closest airport?”

You bit at your lip, “Uh, that depends. Do you want a 45 minute drive from the hotel and a more expensive ticket or a two hour drive and a cheaper ticket?”

“Did you hear that, Jense?” Jared nodded as Jensen spoke to him, “Where is the airport that’s 45 minutes from the hotel?”

“Elmira.”

“Elmira,” Jared repeated into the phone. He nodded once again, “Okay man. Let me know then. Thanks, bye.”

You focused on the highway with a raised brow, “What was that about?”

Jared huffed, “Jensen is flying out here as soon as he can. He’s such a worry wart.”

You chuckled, “Well, it’s understandable. You dropped off the face of the map. You can say you’re okay but he won’t know until he sees you.”

He rubbed at his face, “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”

“So, he’ll let you know when he has a ticket?”

“Yeah.” As if right on cue, Jared’s phone went off. He scoffed as he looked at the message he received, “I guess he’s getting on a flight tomorrow morning and will be here tomorrow afternoon.”  

You nodded. Keeping quiet as you got off the highway and drove towards to hotel.

If you thought your anxiety was bad before, it ramped up with the idea of Jensen coming into town. How would Jensen react to the fact that you were helping Jared? Would he be upset? Would he be grateful? How would he react towards you in general? Would he think of you as a fan who were trying to get something out of Jared, or even himself?

“You okay, Y/N?” Jared asked as you pulled into the hotel’s parking lot.

You put the car into park and looked towards him. His eyes danced across your face with worry, making you feel at ease and slightly stupid at the same time. You gave him your number to help him, and here he was, worried about you.

You smirked, “I’m okay. Just… nervous.”

His head quirked to the side, “Why are you nervous?”

You sighed, “I just don’t know how Jensen will act towards me, or this.” You looked out the windshield, “I just don’t want him to think I’m trying to get something out of either of you.”

“He won’t think that.”

“How do you know?” You asked as you focused back towards him.

He smiled, “Because if you wanted something out of this, you would have blackmailed me for it already.”

Your eyes went wide with shock, “Wait, people have done that before?”

He chuckled at your reaction, “Yeah, they have. More when we were younger though and didn’t know any better.” Jared patted your hand on your thigh, “Everything will be fine Y/N. I promise.”

You swallowed thickly and giggled, “I hope so Jare. I hope so.”

My favorite currently is the one just past the intersection of 131 and Giem, that low stone building hidden by cedars so strangely incongruous surrounded by prefabrication, vinyl siding all those boxes set haphazard in the empty flats between swamp and pine forests.

Before that was the one remaining wall not even a full wall, probably less than half and the foundation too, just a little further up the road, but that got taken down for the ironworks, which I resent now for a host of reasons.

Two in Elmira, by the railroad tracks, although they've never been the same since the plow took the glass out of the windows last year and someone came, covered them in plywood, so perhaps in the end they don't count.

Like the yellow house with the SALE sign and the strange assemblage of junk ever-changing, although that mattress I think is the same I saw the first time I drove through, two years ago now, and I still don't know the story of that one.  

And the one across the street, the strange wooden one, which looks abandoned and doesn't at the same time.

We have a lot to choose from.  This is just a forty-minute drive, and just the highlight reel at that, there's so many more -- the witch house by Beckon, the one with the stone walls that lost its roof four years ago and falls even further every day and so many more, so many.

There were lives there, once -- I always wonder what happened to them, those people.  I wonder why they left.

People do that here, of course.  Leaving. It isn't a very easy place to love.   It would be easier, I suppose, if it loved us, but it doesn't.

So we leave, and it takes what we left and slowly tears it down, and I suppose one day the trees will cover all again.

Which doesn't sound that bad, when you think about it.

Thank you for your questions. Here are my answers.

So, my first Ride Or Die ship was Radu/Elmira from the show Space Cases on Nickelodeon. I didn’t even know what shipping was, exactly, but I knew that it was Very Important to me that Radu and Elmira be happy together. Then there was Mulder and Scully, but it didn’t cause the inner ache of Radmira (I just made that up). Heero/Duo was my first slash ship, if I’m recalling correctly. Well, that’s not strictly true, but the things I wanted to do to the poor Hansons and other boybands in the 90s shall not be spoken of here. So: Heero/Duo. And I am 100% sure I said and did horribly misogynistic things towards Relena Peacecraft because I was a baby and dealing with the Haha Women Are Terrible crap that tends to affect all young slash writers at some point. Then Lord of the Rings just turned into a giant fuckfest of shipping. Which leads to question number two!

So, OT3s have always kind of been my jam? Or at least I’ve never had a problem with shipping a character with two different people, if both ships are compelling. I think Arwen/Aragorn + Aragorn/Legolas was my gateway drug to OT3, because I loved both of those pairings and wanted to see them happen (I have since come to accept that Legolas/Gimli is canon tho). 

Anyway, so I loved Cap, loved him and Peggy together. Thought they were great and I sobbed in the theater when the radio went dead. Then I saw Winter Soldier and was like “oh, he is in love with Bucky.” And then I was like “why not both?” Because there’s a part of me that thinks Steve Rogers has pretty good judgment when he’s not crashing planes without giving his approximate coordinates over the radio, and if he is in love with both Peggy and Bucky, he must have a good reason for being so. And once Peggy and Bucky got over their initial jealousy, I think they would be SO GOOD for each other. So my WW3some shipping basically came from thinking that Steve Rogers Makes Good Choices and Everyone Deserves A Little OT3 Happiness If They So Choose.

I am so pretty and clever because I grew up with @crockzilla and SHE DROVE ME HERE. 

Oh, God, AU-land. High school Steggy and high school Stucky that subverts tropes in the HS genre. Yes. Both of them. College Stucky. LITTLE STEVE ON THE PRAIRIE God help me, I mean, I’m already writing it, but more of that. KEELEY: CUMBERLAND NATIVE TED HART SIGNS WITH MARINERS

Yale alumnus played at Greely High and Phillips Exeter Academy BY: Michael Keeley, Maine Mariners  PORTLAND, ME – August 21, 2019 – Cumberland native and former Maine state champion Ted Hart has signed a standard player contract with the Mariners, the team announced on Wednesday. Hart, a forward, is coming off an NCAA Division I career at Yale University and will attempt to become the first Maine-born player to play for the Mariners. “It’s been six years since I left Greely High School, so it’s awesome to come back and get a chance to play in Maine again,” said Hart. “I grew up watching the Portland Pirates and it’s unbelievable to think I could play pro hockey in the same building they once did. I’ve been excited to start my pro career as is, but it will be even more special doing it in front of my friends and family.” At Greely, Hart helped guide the team to back-to-back State Championships in 2012 and 2013. “One of my favorite things about Cumberland is the town’s support for Greely athletics,” Hart said. “Cumberland takes pride in following and celebrating its teams. So for me and my friends to have our childhood culminate in back-to-back state titles is a feeling that’s difficult to replicate.” Hart (6’1, 195 lbs) is now 23-years-old and was a mainstay in the Yale lineup for all four of his collegiate seasons. Of his three goals during his 2015-16 freshman campaign, two were game-winners, including one in overtime. Hart would play at least 31 games each of the proceeding three seasons, with a career-high 11 goals in his sophomore year, good for third on the team. His junior season included three multi-goal games, highlighted by a hat trick on December 2nd, 2016 at Union. The same season, he was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. He would repeat the achievement in 2018-19. Hart totaled 48 points (26 goals, 22 assists) in 120 career games at Yale. “Ted will bring energy to our lineup with speed and grit which is always good when we get into the dog days of the season,” said Mariners head coach Riley Armstrong. Hart has two older brothers, each with ECHL experience. Brian Hart, 25, is currently a forward for the Dundee Stars (Scotland), but played previously for Kalamazoo and Greenville. He’s also played in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. Brian attended and played at Ted’s rival school – Harvard University. Kevin Hart, the oldest brother (27 years old), attended Providence and debuted in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals in 2014-15. After two seasons with Dundee, he returned stateside in 2018-19 and suited up in four games for the Worcester Railers, none of which were against the Mariners. All three Hart brothers played for both Greely and Phillips Exeter Academy (New Hampshire). Ted captained Phillips Exeter in 2014-15, leading the team with 49 points in 30 games. “All three of us have shared very similar hockey backgrounds,” said Ted. “They have not only shown me what it takes to make the next level but also what to expect when I get there. I was always thrown into their pond and street hockey games as well, which certainly helped me develop as a hockey player.” While the Mariners may have seemed like an obvious destination for Hart given his background, he pointed out other factors that contributed to his decision to sign. “The coaches and the rest of the staff are loved by the players, and they also seem to do an excellent job of giving players opportunities up in the AHL,” said Hart. “I know Portland is a great place to live and the fans are awesome, so it was really the coaching staff and their ability to develop players that put the Mariners over the top.” Forward and Biddeford native Trevor Fleurent signed with the Mariners last summer and stayed with the team through the preseason, after which he was released. my favorite thing about elmira is that her special interest is historical fashion but she approaches it in an "i can fix him" kind of way, which gives me the leeway to ignore shit i think is impractical to draw abt rococo fashion

This morning, our education coordinator and I installed five exhibits at three Elmira elementary schools. And we did it all in just a little over three hours. I think my favorite display in this round is the Historic Music and Instruments at Riverside Elementary School. We had a nice chat there with some of the staff that happened to be passing. We shared memories of vinyl records and 8-track tapes. I hope everyone in the schools has a good time looking at and talking about the new displays.
