“ She’s not going with the likes of you.” He growls

Stichy stills at that, glancing at the trembling child in front of him and slowly lowering his sickles

He took one last glance at the child and back at them and back to Dokucha

She looks at the men in front of her and back at the bear and nods her head

[REDACTED] perked up beside you at the sound of your voice. You’d been quieter than usual, milling from store to store lost in thought as he trailed not too far behind along the pier. It was meant to be a simple shopping date. But you were too distracted to even remember what you'd bought despite the bags at your feet.

You were staring out at the ocean, trying to work up the courage to hold his hand. It had happened a couple of times before. Only with your gloves on, once you'd mentally prepared. Never for too long, either. You wanted it to be different this time.

It took a second to realize they were still waiting, patient for whatever you wanted to say. The silence had lasted longer than you meant it to. 

“Can we...” you began, unsure if you could even say it. You weren't prepared just yet as you turned to look at him. “...Can you go get me something warm to drink?” you asked.

Their response came with an amused smile, snake bites tugging up with the corners of his mouth. “Sure thing, Angel. Guessin' you want the usual?” You silently nodded. “Be right back.” 

He obviously knew you meant to ask something else, but he didn't pry. Instead, he sauntered off towards a brightly patterned stall further down the pier.

You immediately fussed with the fabric of your gloves, hurried to pull them off and shove them away in a coat pocket. An embarrassed huff escaped as you turned to lean forward on the wooden railing, arms crossed to stave off the cool breeze that came to brush at your fingertips.

Maybe you were overthinking it. You didn't need to announce that you wanted to hold their hand. They'd get the message loud and clear if you just went for it.

The old wood of the pier barely creaked under his boots as [REDACTED] came back. A tall cup was set on the railing next to you, scarred fingers wrapped far at the bottom to hold it steady.

“Thanks,” you said as you reached for it. He let go as soon as you securely grabbed the top. 

His blue eyes seemed to zero in on your hands. They took a sip of their own drink before asking, “Gloves bothering you?”

“Something like that,” you mumbled as you mustered up the courage again. Steam from the drink wafted into your face as you took a few sips to warm up and think it over. He wasn’t quite in reach anymore, but you’d take the next opportunity as soon as—

“I have another pair if y'need ‘em,” he said softly. 

The dark-haired man pulled a set of gloves out from his jacket. They weren’t in his style, nor his size. You watched as he placed them on the railing, just as he did with the drink. Had he always been carrying around an extra pair for you? He wasn’t even wearing any of his own.

“Um, thank you,” you repeated and fell silent, a little caught off guard. You took the gloves and fiddled with them for a moment. The fabric felt softer than your other ones, and a lot warmer from being hidden away in his coat. It was comforting.

The gloves had to be stashed in another pocket for now. Yet again he didn't question your actions, despite how odd you were being—how odd you'd been all day. You drummed your fingers on the styrofoam cup as you glanced at him from the corner of your eyes.

For once, he wasn't looking at you. He was leaning back, one hand dangling off the edge of the railing while the other held his drink close to his mouth. Every so often he was biting his lip as he swallowed with a tiny wrinkle to his brow.

You shifted closer and began to reach for him.

They were quick to notice once you moved, eyes widening and darting between your face and your hand—your bare hand—that was slowly inching towards theirs on the wooden surface. There was clear anticipation in the way his fingers curled and uncurled, though he otherwise held still. Somehow his patience to let you take your time helped calm your nerves. It took a few more seconds until you eventually felt the warmth radiating from their hand.

His skin was a little rough in some places. You delicately traced over the faint veins running along the back of his hand before tucking your fingers in to touch the softer side of his palm. The angle seemed awkward, but you were determined to see it through. They slightly turned their wrist to make it easier for you to hold on. 

Neither of you spoke while you settled into the feeling for the first time.

Everything about it felt different without the barrier you normally had. It was new, but comfortable. You didn’t mind how cold [REDACTED]'s fingertips were compared to the rest of him, or the way his thumb draped loosely over your unsteady knuckles. A silent sort of reminder that you could pull away whenever you needed to—except you wanted to stay like this.

If it wasn’t for the rather hasty swig of his drink that he took once you carefully tightened your grip, you would’ve seen the beginnings of an uncontrollable smile on your partner’s face.

Every time someone says this in this franchise, you should immediately raise 20 red flags because one of the reoccurring themes is "by thinking that you're good and that your intentions are good, so whatever you do is good, you doom yourself to doing evil" or something.

He has a new ladder for his bed that doesn't have splinters and rusty nails sticking out of it. He probably bought it himself due to there being No Hope in Kerubim Crepin.

Also, his hobby of cartography is acknowledged once more, considering the parchments that are lying everywhere.

Another thing that feels Vaguely Bad is that we've come a long way from "I'M NOT A KID ANYMORE, STOP TREATING ME LIKE THIS, STOP CALLING ME JOJO!" to "I don't give a shit anymore. Call me anything you want... feels kinda nice too... :)"

I'm pretty sure that there's like, some translation mistakes here.

- Totally has ADHD. The impulsive thoughts are obvious with this one and I think that Neige serves as its impulse control. They made like, a pact of sorts (after their Headmage yelled at Chenya for doing something) that Chenya tells Neige whatever the impulsive thought is and Neige either tell Chenya 'No, you can't do that' or 'We can do this instead'.

- Broke asf. I dunno but I feel like Chenya has like the worst habit of impulse buying you've ever seen so they never carry money on they to try and avoid it at Trey and Riddle's recommendation. It's mostly worked as Neige buys anything Chenya needs when they go out anyways.

- I gave him some hairclips with cute lil charms on them and some of those silly little acne patches. Idk if he actually has acne, he totally could, but I think he'd wear them either way to like normalise not be ashamed of it, y'know?

- I gave him some cute little apple earrings which were a gift that Rook gave him after a concert with one of his letters lol. He wears most of the jewelry gifted to him at one point or another but he really likes the apple earrings.

- Has a crush on Vil. Idk how popular of a headcanon that is but as soon as they interacted, I felt like it made sense. I love the one-sided rivalry lmao with Vil hating his ass and he's just like, 'Omg, she's so pretty and cool and smart. Wow, I'm so glad we get to work together so much!' It's really funny ngl.k

- Loves to crochet, knit, and sew. All are kinda skills he picked up while caring for the dwarves but they're his favourite to do. He's made Chenya a few sets of mittens (because for some super mysterious reason, they always go missing) and a quilt at some point.

- Likes anything with apples in it, pies, drinks, you name it. Fall is his favourite season because of apple cider alone (otherwise it'd be spring).

- The gold eyeliner is like a royal thing, maybe be specific to the crown line or maybe Leona's just too fcking lazy, probably the later.

- He's actually really good at chess. He's played many games with Leona, even though he didn't get it at first, but now he can beat most people who play him (still not Leona lest he really screws up something). Most of his birthdays, he gets a new pretty chess set and he has a little display of them in his room.

Now for his dad! The only character here without a canon design (as far as I know... which I'm upset about).

- I based him more on Leona, trying to make sure that Cheka didn't just get his trait lmao. I think that he got his piercing actually after Leona got his because the palace staff were criticising him for it so Farena went and got one.

- I dunno, he's giving bi wife energy. It helps that the women of Sunset Savannah are buff and cool and I'm so mad we never saw them 😭😭😭 I wanna see Leona's sister-in-law so bad ;^;.

- He's not as much into the intellectual side of things like Leona is, would rather defeat people with strength which is why the two really don't get along super well. Though I think it's only perceived on Leona's side, I don't think Farena realises how much hurt Leona's had throughout his life.

- Angst aside, he doesn't get much in the way of free time what with all his royal duties and such. His favourite activities are spoiling his family and getting used as a weight for his wife's daily exercise!

- I feel like Najima didn't get the same set of exceptions set on her growing up and so her relationship with the Al-Asims, while still not necessarily healthy, was nowhere near as damaging. I think that while Jamil definitely envies that, he'd rather die than make her go through the same thing as him.

(That being this amazing short film I watch ten times a day) And it would be different if they let their relationship just be and let them be platonic while still letting them have that familiar depth like in Sherlock & co., but NO, shows like Sherlock BBC and The Irregulars tease and queerbait to hell and back, and even make the one of them queer and in LOVE with the other (like in The Irregulars, John is in love with Sherlock but as far as I know, doesn't tell him because he's unstable or smt idfk) but they don't get together for one convoluted reason or another. It's frustrating as hell because it's not like there was no substance between the two in ACD/Original canon, it's not like the TJLC invented it bc of Sherlock BBC or the RDJ Adaption, no, their relationship was so deep and so real and so beautiful in ACD canon and if there is gonna be an adaption where their relationship stays the same, that's fine, perfect even, but NO, they add extra bullshit that make you think there might be something and then give unreasonable reasons why they can't be together, making you feel like YOUR the weird one for seeing something that wasn't there apparently.

Because the Irene Adler I heard in The Scandal In Bohemia, was an upper class woman who had an affair with the king of [Forgor lol] and kept the photo of them together as collateral when he ditched her and tried to get married to a princess.

The Irene in these adaptions??? She's a trickster, a Dominatrix, an Assassin, the Lover of Moriarty, and INSANELY IN LOVE WITH SHERLOCK HOLMES. what the FUCK

Like. Please please please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but is there another Irene Adler in the ACD canon??? Who is all these things?? Because when I watched Granada, when I read the story, and now listening to the audiobook (which, off-topic, found a playlist of free audiobooks of all the short stories on YouTube with a fantastic narrator here) The Woman described in these stories, yes can be secretive and sneaky, but was NEVER fucking like RDJ or BBC's level of Irene Adler. It kinda feels like they just picked whatever character they wanted to make a Pandora out of (which is doubly weird that BBC made Mary Morstan like that when they had Irene but I barely acknowledged post season two canon outside of @gaylilsherlock 's fantastic fics, plus they almost completely left ACD canon after Reichenbach which I don't really mind, but post-reichenbach is a whole other post) instead of making their own character. So I find them cowardly for a) not making Irene at least semi-accurate to the canon besides a tiny photo (even tho canon photo was a FUCKING CANVAS- okay I'll stop) and b) not making up a new fleshed out character of her own to be a secret spy.

And uhhhh I can't think of anything else rn. Yeah:D I would complain about Sherlock & Co. But because it's not finished yet and I like how they're treating Sherlock and John's relationship and also them as their own individual characters I don't have too much to complain about, and I would complain about Irregulars but I could not get past the first five episodes. im completely willing to change on this honestly. i thought long and hard about it and then i went “hm. no.” and ended up here. my logic is that of the awakening trio, laslow definitely seems to be the strongest and is nohr’s crown prince’s retainer, and of these three, kjelle is probably the strongest, so same treatment. i also considered the dynamic between saizo and kagero and i just think she’d work the best with them. no bullshit, just work. plus, in a samurai class (moa promotes from samurai) she’d fit in better with ninja than a flier and a uh. a guy.

i put laurent with hinoka and i almost didnt because i think he could have an interesting dynamic with the other royals too. but then i was like “okay. of the three: who would fit into hinokas retainer dynamic that just seems to be ‘giving hinoka a hard time’” and well!!! i think!!! i think its laurent!!! i think laurent would just be engrossed in his studies and the difference in technological progress compared to ylisse (no fireworks but they have giant puppets??? the dolls with the saws??? i dont have muuuuch more atm bc i. im dumb and i never write them down. but rn i have a hc that pillager patrols do some sort of recruiting, bc you never see children among illagers, so where would they get new people? they probably 'recruit' (aka, kidnap) villagers who are outstanding or 'gifted' (like, who probably have some ounce of magic, so they'd go through some training and would become evokers). this could also happen to the babies villagers who weren't killed during a raid.

less likely and i'd have to do some more thinking and researching to develop this other hc but maybe we dont see their kids bc they live somewhere else while growing up. underground? in some of the hidden rooms in the mansions? a completely different place? who knows! maybe they have a some sort of quarters or district where they all go through some thorough training before they're old and/or good enough to join the patrols and raids. also, i believe in the pillager<vindicator<evoker hierarchy. pillagers can work their way up to vindicators, but evokers are their own thing, if you dont have magic abilities you cant become an evoker, which makes them rare and powerful and all that. idk where the illusioners fall into this tho, as unused mobs i know very little of them, but i'd say somewhere above vindicator and below evoker, could probably work its way up to an evoker through training.

in my perspective, patrols, as well as all illagers groups, are like an attempt at some sort of oppressive government (or maybe religious group?). the patrols are, well, as the name suggests, a patrol, they're keeping watch and looking for any 'trouble', attacking villagers and golems probably to scare them. Raids are more destructive, i'd say they're caused by a threat to the illagers (like the player, despite said player's reputation w the raided village, although i like to believe that, in this worldbuilding, thats not the only reason they raid a village) and not only attack the player, but also the village, killing every adult villager, taking their sources and children, leaving a clear message of what's waiting for the others if they dont behave.

as for the villagers, they're pretty much defenceless in these situations, unable to harm literally anything. you could even hc that they're vegetarians, since all they eat are vegetables and bread, despite butchers selling meat and stew. why are they so pacific? they dont each other, other villages, mobs, nothing, and any villager who's relocated to another village will get along w them just fine, despite biome difference. you could try a religious approach to this. their only defence is the iron golems, who show up naturally or summoned by the villagers, another thing that could be explored through a religious approach (which, imo, is probably different than the illagers religion, if we go that way). the only way for a villager to turn hostile is, again, turned into a witch or a zombie, which immediately outcasts them.

you could also think 'huh, so to be accepted by the villagers you have to be passive, the moment you turn hostile, you're not welcome anymore', and yeah, pretty much if you ignore the golems ability to kill mobs (they're more like neutral mobs i think). makes sense when it comes to the player as well, w the whole gossip and reputation thing when the player saves or trades or kills/harms a villager, but theres math to that so i wont touch it lol. overall the villagers are major pacifists, shame the illagers are totally taking advantage of them.

this is all losely based on my own knowledge w minecraft, there might be some stuff that goes against game rules but who cares, im having fun. i probably have more thoughts but i forgor, will bring them to you once i remember/have more <3

OHHH you have no idea how happy i am to talk about mahiru... she is so dear to my heart. as evidenced by the last time someone asked me about her and i accidentally wrote a 1900 word response. going to try and make my answer to this ask a little shorter lol.

i think there's just something really compelling to me about the fact that like. whatever it is that happens with her boyfriend feels so much more like an interpersonal problem that went horribly wrong than like a murder case. obviously the characters with more traditional and direct murders can be and are interesting as well but there's just that special flavor of tragedy to the instances where characters never intended for their "victim" to die. especially mahiru, who sincerely loved her boyfriend and seems to have not even wanted to inflict Any sort of harm nor to have been aware that she was doing so.

i really really like and resonate with how she deals with the realization that she in fact Did hurt her boyfriend though. it's just so nuanced and realistic, you know? she blames herself for her emotions and desires and her inability to get it right, and she doesn't want to hurt anyone again... but she also can't stand the idea that she'd have to be alone and unloved for the rest of her life in order not to hurt anyone, either. which i think is a dichotomy mahiru seems really familiar with: she doesn't really want to get upset with her boyfriend or hurt him or anything like that; it's just that she also desperately wants more attention and love and commitment than what she's getting (and ends up giving in to that desire and demanding it seemingly to his detriment, judging by all that "calling you in the middle of the night" she mentions in this is how to be in love with you, or the "if you don't hug me our hearts will drift apart").

which is... a really realistic struggle, you know? wanting something from someone that they for whatever reason can't give you. on one level i think she does need to work on how to actually be okay by herself, and to find healthier outlets to cope with it. on one level her behavior is destructive and harmful to others. but on another level, she's not wrong for having a high desire for attention and reassurance, either. and it seems like she doesn't really know how to deal with those emotions. or with her emotions in general, actually... she gets carried away with happiness when things are good, and sinks into despair when they're bad, and doesn't know how to handle it or find a middle ground.

it's just a really nuanced situation without a clear right or wrong, and that level of difficulty in coping with/controlling your emotions is really hard to handle even without a situation where you end up becoming implicated in your boyfriend's death... i feel for her a lot :( poor girl just needs therapy and a better support system in her life. and actually circling back then to my tags on your fic... i think in another world, that mahiru with her uncontrollable emotions and ideals of love as her meaning to live could absolutely find some sort of kinship and seeing herself in kotoko, who similarly seems to struggle with her anger towards injustice spiraling out of her control and with her vigilante work being connected to a sense of purpose for her.

unfortunately, as is... i think the opportunity's been a bit lost with mahiru's canon guilty vote and what happened between them. mahiru forgives her, yeah, but... i just don't think it'd be great for her to pursue a connection with someone who nearly killed her.

that's what alternate universes are for though, right? ;)

many creative liberties taken, i haven’t written properly in a while

Despite what Mezou says, Fukuro will never be convinced that people don’t find the taller boy attractive.

He already sticks out being as tall and muscular as he is, the mask he usually wears only adds an extra layer of mysteriousness, and he’s a perfect gentleman to boot; the type to hold open doors for people or carry your things for you. Fukuro has literal harpies in his family, he doesn’t need to be beating metaphorical ones away with a stick.

He’s kind, far too kind for his own good, and Fukuro can’t help but wonder if part of Mezou’s hometown has taken permanent residence in the younger boy’s heart, if they’re the reason why he’s fine with throwing himself in the line of fire; because he’s big and strong and his arms grow back anyway, because he’s a monster that needs to pull out its fangs and file down its claws to prove that it’s not a threat. He wonders if Mezou was even allowed to have anything as a child, and suddenly his room, only holding the bare essentials, looks like a prison of his own making. He knows Mezou is strong, but that answer is never enough to reassure him.

(He’s not even allowed to show his scars, because he’s still a 15-year-old no matter how buff or strong or monstrous he is, and 15-year-olds make for easy scapegoats in the face of bigger societal problems that people don’t care about.)

Fukuro’s never sure if he’s enough to make Mezou feel loved, that maybe he should allow himself to be more greedy and selfish and make Mezou his in every way possible, the same way he’s ready to give himself to the younger boy for as long as he’ll have him. The demons from his own past whisper in his ears; how Mezou is only with him out of the kindness of his heart because genetically and scientifically, he’s even more of a deformity despite his human features. There’s no such thing as a male harpy after all, he’s a freak of nature in every sense.

At the very least, he likes to think he’s Mezou’s freak; when he sidles up to the other boy after class and they go find a quiet spot for lunch amidst the hollering of 2-A, when Fukuro steals food out of his boyfriend’s hands and Mezou only wipes away bits of sauce around his mouth, when Fukuro steals a bit more than just food and languidly peppers butterfly kisses where he can reach, including the scars down his neck, when Mezou easily gives twice as much back both with his quirk and his actual mouth.

When they both lean forth to meet in the middle, a moment to themselves in the warm afternoon sun.

💖 rough kiss / hot and heavy / making out | Howl Knightley/Cater Diamond

When Cater shows up to meetings with Riddle or the Light Music Club looking…ravished, for the lack of a better word, people don’t believe him when he says it’s Howl’s handiwork. The easygoing second year certainly has the physical prowess to do so, or at least one would hope considering he’s one half of the Twin Knights of Heartslabyul, not just in mannerisms and in name but also ability.

Whether he wants to is another story, and it’s difficult to envision him doing so when he always seems to have his head in the clouds.

As he’s backed against a wall, wrists pinned above him by a large callused hand, a leg slotted between his thighs and a predatory glint in warm greyish-brown eyes, Cater thinks maybe it’s better that people don’t see it.

It’s probably just a spur of the moment thing for Howl, maybe excess steam that he hasn’t let off yet. By Riddle and Kalim’s accounts, he was on a roll today, a rare burst of energy from the laidback knight. Maybe he just found his boyfriend first instead of his twin, considering that he’s always down to fence with Garnet.

Or maybe he just really missed Cater, and the older boy hoped it was the latter because that would be adorable despite the position they were in now.

Cater squeaked as Howl suddenly dropped his head, nestling his face into the crook of his neck and inhaling deeply while mumbling sweet words under his breath. He could barely hear the taller boy but what he caught was enough to paint his face a light rosy red. Howl’s free hand was settled low on his waist, as the knight raised his head to meet the older boy’s gaze, his usual dazed smile spread across his face.

“Hey, Howl-kun? Maybe we should take this back to the dorms, yeah? We’re still outside-“ Cater protested weakly, only to be met with casual humming as Howl cut him off with a kiss, and another, and another, until he was too flustered to speak, only able to stare back at his boyfriend who had the audacity to tilt his head in a childish manner. The nerve of him to look as innocent as he did while he had his boyfriend up against a wall.

“As long as Riddle doesn’t find out, we’re safe~” he replied lazily, and swooped in for a deeper kiss, which Cater enthusiastically returned; if you can’t beat them, join them. He’s sure the other boy’s hair would be a nightmare to detangle once they were done, with how he was tugging and ruining Howl’s braid. Cater arched into the taller boy’s embrace, pressed up against the hard muscle beneath his deceptively slender frame, while Howl’s thumb rubbed small circles where it had slipped under Cater’s shirt. Neither one of them really wanted to stop and take a breather, until-

“Cay-kun, you bit my tongue,” Howl pouted, nipping at Cater’s bottom lip in revenge. It wasn’t intentional, his phone just happened to get a notification (probably from Magicam or a reminder for his Heartslabyul duties) and he…might have accidentally bit down in surprise. He snuck a peek at his phone before looking back up at the (still-pouting) taller boy.

“I’m sorry! I’ll make it up to you later, okay?” Cater gave his boyfriend a quick peck on the nose, before taking him by the hand and dragging him in the direction of the Hall of Mirrors.

“Let’s go before Riddle-kun takes our heads off!”

💘 fake relationship / mutual pining / dared to kiss | Stefano Fuoco/Azul Ashengrotto

It was supposed to be a quick thing, a one-shot for the masses to eat up before they moved on to the next big thing; “The Fuocos’ Elusive Son Spotted With Mysterious Beau” or whatever trashy headlines gossip sites came up with nowadays. Just because he doesn’t really show his face in public doesn’t mean people don’t know who he is, and being the farthest thing from a social creature doesn’t mean people won’t talk.

There are still rumours of him buying his way into Night Raven College, whispered taunts laced with accusations of nepotism. Not that he cares, everyone who was present in the Florenetta theatre that day probably dreams of wires and tattered rags stained with ink once in a blue moon. He’s more than powerful enough by the school’s standards, and there were better uses for his family name even when it came down to it.

Still, it is a fact that hanging out with Azul is very much a publicity stunt, a business deal like everything else the merman does. Azul gets to put his foot in the door of the catering industry (on land anyways) and Stefano can slowly make a name for himself beyond his parents’ shadows, posting about his directorial work here and there.

That’s all there is to it. Whatever feelings he has are set aside in the face of professionalism.

Sometimes, late at night when fatigue is still settling into his bones, Stef wonders if Azul feels something as well. The tips of his ears turn a soft shade of pink when they talk alone, and he gets a little flustered sometimes when they practise hand-holding or some other fluffy couple thing before someone’s camera starts rolling. Sometimes, Azul seems to look a little more smug than he usually does when Stef praises him, a hint of embarrassment also present if the director squints hard enough.

He’s probably just overthinking, but when he leans in to steal a kiss from Azul under the guise of practice, he starts wishing for a second, a third, or just that Azul will think of him when he kisses someone else, that he’ll never forget how warm the director feels against him.

He’ll allow himself the slight happiness of knowing that he was also Azul’s first.

RITSU SHOULD BE IN THE ALIEN HUNTING a silly analysis (?)

Before starting I just wanted to say that: This post is for the most part a joke! While I really would love have more Ritsu in this arc for all the reasons in this post, this is not really a serious critique or anything like "oh this arc sucked cause of little Ritsu screentime" lol. I do enjoy that arc as it is, the only part I really hate is the fucking Inukawa omakes (that I will not mention again in this post), aside of that very cool arc.

1. HE WANTED TO GO BRO.

Now if you are anime-only or read the manga but forgor let me explain why he didn't go: The Shiratori brothers say they're leaving after Takenaka accept join the alien hunting, and then-

(BY THE WAY INUKAWA JUST LIKE "OK THANKS BYE" CIGJFDIXJSI NOT EVEN TRYING LIKE "OH NO YOU GUYS CAN STAY" LMAO)

So as we can see... Ritsu was interested in joining in or... I mean what else could be ? Does he wanted to stay not because he wanted to join the fun but just like...idk... see Tome reaction to the news cause he would love some gossip and drama? I don't think so. ALTHOUGH IT IS FUNNY THAT THEY ONLY FOUND TELEPATHS CAUSE RITSU WAS JUST STANDING THERE LISTENING MOB TALK WITH HIS FRIENDS,AND THEN HE LIKE "OH I KNOW SOME". So maybe he truly just want the gossip who knows lol. But I'm more willing to bet he wanted to check out the alien thing.

2.BUT SPEAKING OF TOME AND RITSU

we been so so robbed. like so robbed. Tome and Ritsu interactions... Are very little. We technically had one non-canon one. And when I mean non-canon is because was in this omake that Ritsu killed One.

So all things considered I don't think Tome calling out how Ritsu was out of the plot at that moment followed by him killing One is canon, but... The point is she just gets there and calling him creppy. Just beating him down,judging him... And we don't have more interactions between them? BULLSHIT, I WANT MORE OF IT.

We do have another interaction that was in the last chapter/episode with Ritsu and Tome gossiping about Mob life,what is great content!!! Also is it me or this post is slowing turning into Ritsu gossip propaganda? Anyway glad to see at least a little of interaction in canon.

But I wanted more of them in canon,wahh. Lot's of people point out how Tome is like mini Reigen sometimes but I don't think Ritsu would have lot of beef with her cause she is not like being a big fraud like Reigen you know? Big part of Ritsu issues with Reigen is the whole lying to and using his brother, not being loud. And while we are at those two-

now. I say bonding cause both would have a very common thing in this trip: they have nothing to do with it. So like while Tome is complaining and being salty they both would be like 🧍 🧍 and I think that had lot of comedic potential. AND RITSU BEING ABLE TO THROW SHADE IN REIGEN DRIVING SKILLS??!?!

I talked about Tome and Reigen but honestly I would enjoy more interactions with the other telephaty club members with Ritsu lol

5.AND MOB OPSS

Now I said this post was mostly a joke, but not totally a joke and in one point is just like... Again I would love more Ritsu lol, but other point is when it comes with Mob and Ritsu I do think maybe would be more interesting for the plot if Ritsu was in this trip!

I'm not the most passionate over this arc,I adore it, I just never been intensely plagued with thoughts about this arc in specific, but over the time I did read some analysis there and there about it, and when the arc was adapted there was even more analysis of it. And seeing people observations I can see the importance of the arc not only to be a breathe between two intense arcs, but also to see the growth of Mob. Obvious there is even more to it, but focusing on Mob in this arc is like... He takes initiative, even the telepathy club members are impressed by him and he doing his best to help his friends. And he likes... Choose to use his powers?! And even convinces Takenaka to use his powers too.

And like. RITSU WAS THERE W HILE MOB SAID ALL THAT,WHAT I THINK IT IS VERY IMPORTANT. But like...What Ritsu missed was seeing Mob there, really exausthing himself with powers and all but not like...Over some big battle or anything like before but. Just for something "stupid". Something silly. And like, post finale I have no doubts that they will have many opportunities to share moments using psychic powers in a more mundane way, just like Mob used before The Accident. But I still wonder how it would be in the story if Ritsu had seen this, because in the confession arc there is an "out of nowhere" moment: That being Ritsu being the first to conclude that ???/Shigeo and Mob are the same.

Now I say out of nowhere, but I think that's kinda unfair. Rather is more unclear, what is not a bad thing, people can come up with their own interpretations and stuff. Like this can be just the result of lot of self reflection, it doesn't need have a clear A-HA EUREKA moment.

There is also how in the manga it goes like this the moment he says it:

And in my own interpretation one of the biggest things made he realize this is just another part of his brother is he seeing how ??? still just want to give flowers to his crush.

In the anime too part of this realization happened before he even saw Mob, so it does not work out but like. Personally I love the anime as much as the manga,but speaking about Confession arc in specific I LOVE THE MANGA VERSION 10 TIMES MORE AND I HAVE 89839895 NITPICKS WITH THE ANIME VERSION SO… Ok Ritsu concludes that this was a opressed part before coming face to face with Mob,ok. So I feel in that version is even more unclear.

But with all this in mind I wonder if that conclusion would work better with Ritsu seeing Mob use his powers to the max in a non life threatening situation. And… I have no idea. Maybe it would, or maybe it would ocupy too much of the alien arc. Maybe it would make less compelling if was super clear. I do not have a definitive answer. Idk if One didnt included Ritsu in the trip for a big reason or if he just didnt want him in and then made Shiratori brothers throw shade to Ritsu leave lol.

But. I do ask for you consider a what if. What if Ritsu was there ?~~

*said like im a dracula* good evening. im a bit of a ghoul rn because a bit of rainy weather and distant fireworks have migraine'd me like im some kind of dying victorian child so this week's cover feature will probably be a little bit shorter, but there's still some good tunes to be heard!!

This weekend we're gonna talk about our first non-vocal-synth-original song: Kaibutsu (怪物) by YOASOBI.

Like I explained in my first of these posts, while there will likely be a vocal synth focus because of the sheer size of the cover community. anythings on the table! Plus this is vsynth adjacent as half of the duo, Ayase, produces Vocaloid music as well.

Kaibutsu!!!! Love this song, it's the opening for Beastars and while I've never seen the anime (nor have I finished the manga orz still working on it) there was a lot of great music put out for it! The different parts of this song are so fun, I love the verses with their low-bass-y synths under some quick vocals that lean into piano bits in the chorus later on. Ayase's composition is wonderful and of course Lilas Ikura's singing takes it to the next level: she has such a clear voice but she still manages to push so much expression into it, I really love the "oshietekureyo"'s right going into the bridge.

The first cover I want to highlight is a vocal synth cover, this KAFU cover by shinomattya:

A moodier take with KAFU's moodier, breathier voice, I really like it! I've mentioned before how KAFU was the first vocal synth to actually pass my own personal turing test LOL I didn't realize she was a synth when I first heard her! Which, based off how hit or miss she is in the English-speaking vsynth community, might be kind of a surprise. I thought she was like some up-and-coming utaite who uses edges of pitch correction for stylization or something... ANYWAY this was one of the first covers I heard using her after I finally figured out she wasn't a real person LOL and it's really nice! I think her more pronounced breaths really work nicely, and I like the mix levels!

Next cover is an actual human being (no making mistakes this time!!), this cover by まきの (Makino):

Pitched down really nicely, I'm like, scared of pitching down instrumentals because if you're not careful it can sound kind wack but this worked so well I think! His vocals are also nice, he's got this slightly soft low voice with hints of nasal which all together sounds very rich. I like his softer falsetto-y parts in the chorus with the more chest voice-y sound on the low notes.

And another human cover, actually four humans - Lambsoars acoustic cover!

Really fun, they all have nice voices of course but the snapping, piano, and guitar bring it all together so well. The four guys different textures in their voices also adds a lot of dimension.

AND ONE MORE, but last is definitely not least, actually I think this is my absolute favourite cover of this song: JuanMo's pipa cover!!

This fucking rules you guys have no idea. I wasn't super familiar with the pipa a couple years ago so I was googling around listening to all kinds of videos as one does when they are curious about an instrument and when I clicked this one my mind was BLOWN wide open. The articulation on the melody... that thing SINGS like holy shit. Awesome.
