LMFAOO YESS TRUST ME, IVE SEEN THIS AFTER DOING MY OWN RESEARCH ABOUT VICTORIAN RINGS, ITS SO PERFECT!! WOO YAY im glad i could inspire you to start writing!!!🙏and i get it, writing fanfic is defs self indulgent and for ourselves first and foremost, but obvs nobody wants to release their work into the void😩 as for how my own fic got popular, one of the main things is defs timing. i published the first chap basically within the first week of the game being out (it came out on the 10th and my chap was on the 18th) so it was there right at the peak/start of the fandom. but i also dont wanna attribute it all to timing BAHHA cuz i think im a pretty good writer and that helps....my fic also didnt get popular right away, but i was consistently posting every single week + eventually started adding art every single week, and was just really dedicated to not only writing but also drawing art for it (which is also obvs another huge factor/probs the biggest factor). ive had so many ppl tell me they started reading my fic bc they saw my art on pinterest or something LOL, and some ppl have even read it fandom-blind bc they were into the seb/clora dynamic??? which is another point actually. i always joke about how i love my cliches and good girl+bad boy dynamics, and that im unashamed about loving them LOL, but also...they're cliches for a reason!!! lots of us eat that shit up!!!😤so i think thats defs another factor, vs if my fic was a bit more niche and avant garde LOL the fandom is also (understandably) a lot slower than it was at the beginning of the year so itll be harder in general, but maybe you could commission art to go with your fanfic? ive seen a lot of other HL fanfic writers do it, and i think it defs helps to draw attention! Reconstructing Caroline

In Portal canon, Caroline is already a certified narrative haunter, but in this AU she plays an even bigger role; plus, we get to see her through the eyes of other characters. So, I thought it'll be interesting to compile her most prominent* appearances, both as herself and as Gladys.

* — Sadly, I haven't put much thought into Clairvoyance images or figments featuring her yet... Maybe sometime later?

Gladys Calvin and Caroline Caramia:

That's right, they have last names now, like any self-respecting Psychonauts character should. I'm not even kidding, announcing this fact was literally the main goal of this post. If you know what (or, rather, who) Gladys's last name refers to, go get some choccy milk bc that makes you epic in my eyes. If you know how to pronounce Caroline's last name, go get an extra glass, because even I'm not sure about the right pronunciation.

To quickly recap their backstory for posterity: when Cave Johnson died (?) and things went super south for Aperture Paranormal, Agent Caramia was so scared of accidentally revealing the dark secrets of the company, she saw no other choice but to blow up her mind with a lil' bit of help from a certain someone. After that, a new person emerged from the rubble of Caroline's fractured mind — Gladys, the ultimate skeptic. Her goal is to disprove the existence of psychic powers, which she deems to be nothing more than pseudoscience, and close off Aperture Paranormal and/or Psychonauts at large; this agenda, however, doesn't stop her from using these same powers herself.

Rattenkönigin, The Rat Queen:

Finally, some genuine Psychonauts creepiness in a Psychonauts AU. This giant rat that makes all the rules is the final boss of Rattmann's mindscape. Not unlike El Odio, she roams the level, hanging from the sky and using her hands to stride around and catch unsuspecting victims — her main goals, however, are Doug and his faithful friend, Companion Cube.

There's a strategy to fighting her, albeit an involved one. You have to utilise Invisibility, which Doug fortunately bestows upon Chell, to avoid being caught, and Psi-Blast to shoot smaller rats — only when they're down will the main hand drop the head rat and make it vulnerable. And you also want to avoid the Confusion gas explosions these smaller rats emit, because apparently they're just as prone to do that upon defeat as the rats from Thorney Tower.

Lifeline:

Found in Mr. Johnson's mind, this is the first version of Caroline proper that's encountered by Chell and Wheatley. Pretty as a postcard, and just as flat, this lovely assistant may not carry over the intelligence, or exact height, of her real-world progenitor, but that doesn't stop her from staying fiercely loyal to Cave. She even calls him her "noble psychomaster" — now that's an odd nickname. But I do wonder what Cave thinks of her...

🍫 - oh man i can't choose! okay, if we ignore my lactose intolerance which is probably a mild dairy allergy i'm gonna pick cheese all day every day.

you want cheese recs? you've gotta try wensleydale cheese. it's a mild, creamy and slightly crumbly cheese (10/10 for nibbling chunks off standing in front of the fridge). there's a version of it with cranberries in, which is popular as fuck around christmas.

next up, try caerphilly cheese. another milder cheese. less creamy than wensleydale but still very good! as a treat i buy a little bit now and then and eat it straight out the wrapper.

(and finally, i'm going to cheat and recommend people try monty bojangle's choccy scoffy truffles. they're considered to be a dark chocolate over here and they are VERY good.)

Episode 33 - Noffoub's Fountain (Part 1)

His ass is not working.

Oh, this is hellish. I got this far yesterday, and today I opened this liveblog with a killer headache and decided that actually, this is not worth it.

Maybe someday I'll return to this, but god, translating even this far was a game of Guessing, and I don't have the patience or mental fortitude to do this rn.

Joris's shocked reaction to this is very understandable, because, as we've repeatedly seen, he does not have a very rigid sleep time.

Chances are, he goes to sleep at 8 only on paper, and then it's like "I need some choccy milk papycha" and "A story before sleep papycha??" for an hour or three more.

When Kerubim insists on making him sleep, it's because something is up, and he doesn't want Joris to be around for it. Joris may not realize this, but it would likely make him feel anxious.

Joris, being a single child to an old man, probably has a strong need for routines and familiarity in his life. Especially now that Simone is around to keep their home in order.

Obviously, he doesn't like deviations from the status quo.

I'm so normal. Being normal about Joris's psychology comes to me as easy as breathing. YES, I am reading too much into this, but it really is interesting that the second we see him sent to bed before he is supposed to go, we see him do this, which is usually a coping mechanism in children who aren't very good at coping mechanisms.

And he's cuddling a plushie, which isn't an every-day occurrence for him, judging from the last episode's depiction of Joris sleeping.

One more sad ball in the "Joris is developing at least 2 different mental illnesses from the way Kerubim is raising him as we speak" agenda.

He's so bad at this. This stupid sword isn't even on his way to the stairs. And he can see in the dark, being an ecaflip. Silly ass goofster can't even look down.

Currently Reading:  Ok... so... I actually haven't read any sort of published novel since... 2011, with A Storm of Crows I think? So I used to read a shit ton, but it was 11th grade and my friends were like 'You're still reading kids books? Read something for grown ups instead' (I was rereading Percy Jackson at the time, my beloved). So I gave it a try with a 'grown up' fantasy series and... fuck GoT it was awful and I decided if that's what adult literature was like, I didn't want any part of it. So I quit reading entirely.

Last Movie: Bullet Train, months ago. I don't like watching movies - I'm huge into the behind the scenes stuff, cinematography, lighting, direction, costume design etc etc so it makes it hard to watch movies when my brain won't stop analyzing and criticizing everything (honestly modern cinema is so full of people just 'sending it' for the next big paycheck, the heart is just gone). But my husband insisted I watch this one and you know what? It was actually really well made, I was impressed.

Craving: More time. More time to finish these cosplays (Twelve have mercy the con is in a week and a half), more time to write, more time to decompress. Also craving a Chromebook/laptop/portable writing device that doesn't freeze when I type more than 5 letters in a row...

Last show: Last narrative-focused show? Uhhhhhh.... I watched the first season of The Walking Dead in 2012 and I legit can't think of anything more recent. I just don't enjoy watching things much, I'd rather be doing something, and I'm such a snob when it comes to screenwriting/characters that most things just don't appeal to me. Other than that the last non-scripted show I watched was Restaurant: Impossible.

Last thing you ate: An oatmeal chocolate chip cookie my sister made last night.

Favourite colour: Wine/burgundy! That deep, dark, blood red with just a hint of purple (in case you couldn't tell since it's the color my WoL wears in every outfit)

Unrelated Obsession: Unrelated? I'd say writing but that's kind of related... So, horses? I mean that's just always my obsession.

Any pets: Uh... yeah. I myself have two horses. And then... we have a shit ton of cats. So in 2020 strays kept showing up at our house and then they'd have babies, eventually we managed to catch them all and get them fixed and now some of them have chosen to move in. Shelters are full all across the state, rescues and fosters are full. So now we have... 10 cats that live inside (it's a large house) and then another six/seven that are still feral outside but fixed at least. Nothing much we can do about it, but keeping them inside keeps them safe and saves the wildlife outside, too.

Do you have a crush on anyone: An eternal crush on my husband. He's just amazing. Soft. Adorable. Handsome. Perfect. Goofy. Gorgeous. Smart. Creative. Loving. So many more words. 12 years together in May!

Favourite fictional character: Assuming player characters/WoLs don't count, Elena Fisher from Uncharted. She was the first female character I encountered who was just... normal. Not a token female, not sexualized eye candy, not walking boobs without a personality, she was... a real person, a real character in her own right, whose gender didn't change who she was. And I fell in love with that back in 2007 (I was in middle school then, so it was kind of a big deal for me). She only got better as the years went by, I still love her.

The last place you traveled: Depends on your definition of 'travel'. On a literal sense probably Portland, but since both that and Seattle are practically in my backyard I don't really count those. Other than that, Philadelphia I think, for a wedding.

Someone New // A New Life AU oneshot

(yeah, it’s been awhile since I made a oneshot. So, here you go.)

It has been only nine months ever since Dark Choco cookie and Parfait cookie decided to welcome a new cookie into their lives. The amount of baking, planning, and waiting has been overwhelmingly exhausting for the two. But, it was all worth it, once she arrived.

BEEP!

BEEP!

BEEP!

"Parfait cookie!!" Dark Choco shouted.

Parfait sprinted down the steps as fast as she could, almost tripping over the steps and stumbling down. She ran over to her partner, who was fixated on the oven, still beeping and blaring out for their attention. She froze. Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at the oven.

"She's here...!"

Parfait looked at Dark Choco, who was still fixated on the oven.

"Are you ready?"

Dark Choco hesitated but nodded slowly, as his confidence began to rial up. Everything that happened, lead him to this moment. He dropped the strawberry jam sword and left the cookies of darkness for good, he fled to the roll cake forest, he built his new home, he rebuilt his relationship with his father, and he saved the love of his life. Parfait helped him through so much, without her, the darkness would've consumed him once more. Now, he wants to do the same for her.

"I am..."

Parfait grabbed two oven mitts and slowly opened the oven doors. The sweet, fresh scent of dark chocolate and strawberries filled the air, while the sugary mist clouded their vision. As the mist cleared, the sound of a baby crying reeled in their attention. Parfait carefully placed down the cookie cutter and gently plucked the freshly baked cookie out. She immediately wrapped the baby cookie in a pink blanket, with little yellow ducklings on it. The baby cookie began to calm down as her dough cooled. She was beautiful. Her dough was a dark brown color, and the little hair strip on her head was very curly and had a little creamy strip that went down the middle.

"She's beautiful..." Dark Choco sighed as tears clouded his vision.

"She has your dough...!"

"She has your curly hair..."

"She's perfect...!" They both quietly exclaimed.

"What should we name her...?" Dark Choco asked.

"Her little hair looks like a milkshake. Wait... we should name her Choco Milkshake... What do you think, Dark Choccy?"

"Choco Milkshake cookie... it's perfect."

"Choco Milkshake cookie it is!"

Parfait cradled Choco Milkshake cookie gently in her arms as Dark Choco stayed by her side. The baby cookie's eyes squinted, trying to open her eyes. Her parents both noticed and brushed the blanket away from her face, to make it easier to see. Her eyelids revealed big, gorgeous, magenta globes that sparkled and glistened in the light. Dark Choco and Parfait started to cry tears of joy, as Parfait rubbed Choco Milkshake cookie's little head.

"Her eyes...! They're so lovely...!"

Parfait nods. "She has your eyes..."

Dark Choco chuckles. "She has your sparkling charm."

Parfait blushes, then giggles. "Aw, haha. Dark Choco..."

"Wait...."

"What? What's wrong?"

"What about my father..? He would be furious that I didn't introduce him to our daughter..."

"Well, we can't do that right now Dark Choco. Hopefully, after a month or so, when your dad visits, Choco Milkshake will be big enough to meet him."

That day, they both considered it to be the greatest day of their lives. As a month went by, Choco Milkshake cookie only grew in size and proved to be a little bit of a handful. One day, King Dark Cacao cookie arrived at Dark Choco's cabin. Like many times before, his son answered, but looked exhausted. His hair was fairly unkept, he had bags under his eyes and looked more deprived than he did in a year.

"What happened, son?" Dark Cacao asked, bluntly.

"What...? Hang on... hang on..." Dark Choco yawned as he rubbed his eyes.

"Dark Choco cookie, you look like you haven't slept in a month. What did you do?"

"That is what I'm about to tell you. Come in."

Dark Cacao nods as he enters the cabin. Immediately spotting a light pink teddy bear on the couch. Along with the many baby toys scattered across the floor. Rattles, stack-up cups, a play mat, books, a xylophone, and many, many plush rabbits. With so many things all over the living room, it could've been mistaken for a daycare. Dark Choco scanned the room and couldn't see his partner anywhere.

"I'll be right back, Father. Parfait is upstairs."

Dark Cacao nods as his son dashed up the stairs. Only a few moments later, Dark Choco and Parfait appeared with their little baby cookie in her mother's arms.

"Father... this is your granddaughter, Choco Milkshake cookie."

"You're a grandfather, sir!"

"Do my eyes deceive me...?"

The new grandfather gently reaches for his granddaughter and Parfait passes her over to him.  He softly cradled her in his arms, as he brushed the little pink blanket away from the freshly baked cookie's face. This caused Choco milkshake cookie to let out a small sneeze and opened her eyes to find herself face to face with her grandfather.

"She looks just like you, Dark Choco cookie..."

"I wanted to tell you sooner, but I and Parfait wanted to wait until she was big enough to see you."

"I see... well, my son. I suspect that you will become a great father to this little cookie. Just like your old man... Maybe even better."

"Thank you, Father."

"You're welcome, my son."

I’m pretty sure this is not unexplored territory with Choco, but, it would be so cool that, in the Sovereign of Darkness scenario, instead of the curse taking over there’s Choco harnessing the powers and essentially, for lack of better words, make the curse their bitch.

They now regret nothing and is hunting down everyone who has wronged them, going for you-know-who first. I imagine that after a somewhat easy defeat, they would take the biggest gem of his crown and put it on their belt (I know that the canon Sovereign outfit doesn’t have a belt, but, pretend they do or something) and then they go for Dark Enchantress and her goons, spoiler alert, they kill everyone, well, minus Mush child, they can be spared, I suppose /lh. And they put the skull thing on DE's staff on their belt as well as if… idk, to say “yea, I killed them, what of it?”.

If they have to be the Sovereign, then, I just want something like this, like… this is the “worst case scenario” they truly deserve.

I have no idea if I have to tag this for people who like soft and nice Cacao and Choco, I'm neutral to it, since I kinda despise and have no respect for Cacao, like, c'mon, idc if he was under control or something he did outright say that calling Choco his child was the biggest regret of his life and Choco probably didn’t know that he was being controlled, so, they probably thought he meant it and the apology won’t immediately solve it… however, I do believe that Cacao would most likely spend the rest of his life making it up to Choco, but, I still don’t like him.

Fun AU to think about, they can dominate the world for all I care.

Random Recipes

How to make the best chocolate milk from scratch

You will need + Cocoa or Cacao Powder + Honey or sugar + Vanilla essence + Milk

Measurements in this recipe are approximate. When I say a teaspoon, I'm talking about a teaspoon from the cutlery drawer, not a measuring teaspoon, because nobody wants to put in that much effort just to make delicious choccy milk.

In a cup or mug, mix 2 - 3 teaspoons (depending how dark you like your chocolate) of cocoa, 1 teaspoon of honey or sugar and about a quarter of a teaspoon of vanilla essence with enough hot water to make a thick liquid.

While stirring, add milk to fill the cup. Now you have delicious choccy milk! Enjoy!

IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS

Never eat essential oils, this recipe calls for food grade vanilla essence.

I have heard that some people heat water in the microwave. Don't do that (use a kettle). Because of the way microwaves work, the water can "explode" out of the container when it's removed and burn you.

Okay so ya girl grew up in OC SoCal and lived a bit of a prim and proper life for the most part. She and her brothers never really wanted for anything, but at the same time, their parents still made them work a bit for the things they wanted in life. They had what most would look at from the outside and think "picket fence beach view perfect life"

In reality, her dad was really sick (the big C) and they were struggling v much with that. they just did a lot of it in the privacy of their own home. He was in remission for some time before passing away when Noelle was fifteen. He was her best friend and it kinda killed her a bit.

It was something she was once again, thanks to her parents, very good at keeping to herself.

Inevitably, when her HS sweetheart, Chase Williams, picked up to go to Notre Dam, she went with him and saw it as the perfect fresh start she needed with a full ride.

Thanks to all the values her parents instilled in her, Noelle somehow managed to juggle two part-time jobs, college, and being the ever-supporting girlfriend of her up-and-coming NFL player boyfriend.

Telling him she was pregnant was almost entirely the icing on top of a decadent choccie cake!!!! all was well. she had her mans, her plans and nine months later their lil princess.

which was ultimately far too many good things for Noelle to have. She didn't see the drunk driver coming with enough time to warn Chase. which was only half as horrifying as him telling her their daughter didn't make it.

Whatever light was left in her was quickly snuffed out and she fell into a deep, dark hole of PTSD and depression. It ruined her relationship with Chase and her brothers and she ended up isolating herself to the point of being a recluse for about two years.

Finished her degree in architecture and has just started her master's.

Eight months ago she was offered a job at an architecture firm who were looking to score a few expansion contracts in Aurora Bay and she's been here ever since.

So now she's here, trying to cling to the sunshine. instead of a mans and her plans. she now has too many plants and her fat tomcat luca (plus a tonne of underlying issues but eh, if i cant see u - u cant see me.)

i love this question and cause only 2 ppl are gonna read it, I'll spill. He prefers showers, more accessible, and just sits on the built in seat of his shower cause its fancy like that, he does his face wash first, and his hair last, usually hot and on the longer side, which is why he only does it every 4-7 days.
