Do you have any thoughts on how "everything was fine" au time, spirit, and warriors would react if they somehow met their ctb canon selves?

Everything In the Past Was Happy AU, how I missed you! This is honestly such a good question. I love thinking about characters meeting alternate versions of themselves, especially when their fates are so wildly different.

For clarity's sake, classic CTB brothers are going to be referred to as Warriors, Spirit, and Time. Everything In the Past Was Happy AU will be referred to by the captain, engineer, and child.

I think the captain would be very disappointed to see how far he's capable of falling. While the captain never got as bad as Warriors did, he also never really learned his lesson. He definitely admires Warriors for all the ways he's trying to shape his life into something better, but it's marred by disappointment that he's turned out so pathetic.

Warriors would think the captain was his nightmare brought to life. He would hate the captain on sight and would call him out on so much of his bullshit. But still, everything worked out for him. He got to save the day without fucking up his relationships with Spirit and Time. Warriors would be unspeakably jealous.

The child (who despite the title would be a full blown adult in this scenario) and Time would have the least number of differences between them. Time would have had a rough childhood whether or not everything fell apart during the war. Looking at them straight on, you would think they are exactly the same. They would even think they are the same.

But there's subtle differences that they only realize in each other after a while. Time is very secretive and purposefully keeps himself isolated from others. The child is warmer and tends to lean on others far more. Time has a helplessness streak he can't quite get rid of. The child is more stable. They would be more confused by their slight differences than disturbed

The engineer... oh boy. So in the Everything In the Past Was Happy AU, the engineer and the captain stay on good and close terms throughout the war. But that resulted in the engineer being the captain's outsourced moral compass. The engineer knows the captain is kinda a piece of shit, but he accepts that in part because he knows the captain wouldn't do that shit to him.

So here's a version of himself who lost that bet. The engineer isn't as shocked by that as you would think. The captain betraying him is disturbing, but not unthinkable. Again, it was always a possibility. But what does shake him is how bitter and angry Spirit is, and how Spirit has become the worse version of himself. The engineer is very comfortable believing he has a strict moral code, so to see any version of himself stoop to Warriors's low... that's rough.

Meanwhile, Spirit would be pissed off. In his mind, the engineer is the worst version of him. What do you mean you're his best friend? What do you mean that you let him get away with doing any of that bullshit on anyone?

So they hate each other.

I feel like God put something for me in the homily this Sunday. The priest was talking about a woman who was very promiscuous is her youth but then found God. She was praying one day and Jesus gave her a vision of her place in Heaven and she was confused to find that it was among the virgins (not to say that not being a virgin is inherently not virtuous.) She asked Him why and He said there was nothing he could not wash clean. I feel God put that in there for me as over the weekend I (yes I am underage, he is not, and I regret this, don't be stupid like me kids) sent people my nudes under pressure/coercion from people and under that same pressure posted them. I feel like He put that in the homily to let me know that I can and should come back to Him. God wants us to be with Him and will wash away anything. This also is a great time to point out that no rational Christian would say that the abused (idk if that would be my situation) is the sinner, that's straight from the Catechism, if you're Catholic.

also i really shouldn't have written stp because now i have a million ideas for spirit's adventures in new hyrule that I will never have time to actually write :((

#i freely admit that the whole 'spirit met jean at work' thing was an on the fly idea i didn't put much thought into #and then when i was writing stp i impulsively added that bit about jean and linebeck being family friends and you know what? that changes #things. like jean and spirit totally had to have known each other really well before they dated #and that thought has led me down a rabbit hole of thinking about who spirit dated before jean. and i know spirit was a serial dater before #jean (and would try to change his personality to make his partner like him more) but now i have a specific idea about Spirit's horrible #situationship before jean that is making me crazy (hint: spirit pulled a warriors and found someone who reminded him of warriors in the #worst way possible)#and i knew before stp that jean was a very calm person if only to highlight how over it he had to be to dump spirit after 6 months of his #bullshit BUT now that jean feels like a real character i kinda understand how much spirit would have been attracted to jean's stability #and how jean is this caring family guy and how much spirit would both want that stability for himself while feeling so insecure about #not needing to fight jean all the time or not needing to change himself to be someone jean liked that he would pick fights because #spirit is self destructive like hell and if his life and happiness is going to be destroyed no matter what he might as well do it himself #like god. goddamn.#you know the way everyone was obsessed about ickywars after i first brought it up? that's about i feel about jean and spirit #and i'm the only one who cares :)#me rambling #lu ctb

#I know I want his hair kind of faceted like a gem to mimic his messy Link hair but that's hard and I dont like geometry #for zelda I gave her face paint like Impa's but a triforce design rather than a tear or sheikah eye #since she is kind of still the goddess. or at least impa wants her to be #she has a less ornate version of Impa's outfit and choppy hair (not much time to cut it properly)#I think I'll get more into it in unbroken spirit (didn't make sense in damage control) but after she 'dies' Impa tells her she can't return #to skyloft (makes her watch her own funeral etc) because it would bring miasma to the peaceful life up there or something #and instead of becoming a skyloft knight Impa makes her a Sheikah warrior

Pro tip: when naming your sky spirit ocs, check the wiki to see if that name is already taken

#i did this a bunch while naming injured messenger #nothing was *taken* per say- but i wanted to avoid being too similar to any pre-existing spirit names #(see lookout scout and wounded warrior)
