So I’m watching A Knight’s Tale and having a pretty good time all things considered. BUT WHAT IS THIS LOVE TEST!!!! YES, He should have to prove his love over his vanity, BUT WHY IS SHE DELIGHTING IN HIS HUMILIATION AND HIS PHYSICAL PAIN IF SHE LOVES HIM???? how disgustingly selfish?? I am deeply upset

Finally saw Saturday Night Fever and for a movie full of Bee Gees disco hits and flashy dance sequences that shit is dark as fuck. It felt closer to Taxi Driver than Footloose (which was more what I expected). I’m not saying I loved it — it was decent but problematic (full of racism and misogyny). But it certainly had a lot more substance than I expected.

From my theatre experience. Every time an animatronic would move/disappear the entire audience would GASP AND SCREAM IN SHOCK

as much as i really REALLY loved Furiosa, i think it makes the same mistake that george lucas made with the star wars prequels: it explains too much.
i think the virtue of fury road was that it accomplished so much storytelling within the chase scene, it's such an economical movie and it holds together really well.
furiosa on the other hand felt bloated and over-explained and i do struggle with being shown some inciting incidents because they lose impact for me in comparison to my imagination.
i did imagine a different story but i'm ok with what's being told, i just wish more of it was left to my imagination i guess.

its really wild how many movies and tv shows are just like, obscenely skinny. how many casts are representative of the average population, if you sampled a crowd in a normal store or on a train? how many actually “average” bodies do you see on screen? how often are the stomachs shown flat or concave, how often are the thighs all muscle no fat, how often are the jawlines and cheekbones totally sharp and not covered by even a hint of softness? its bizarre and offputting whenever you start looking at media with that in mind
