This is (vertically) pretty long; the rest is under the cut to save your dash.
Haven is a lot of things. An effective communicator isn't one.
This is very much intended to be Taran retelling the story of the time this happened to someone else, given the eight-thousand anachronisms and the level of comfort Taran has in talking to Haven. It's so specifically anachronistic in such a specific "I'm telling you a story and I don't want you to get bogged down in the inconvenient details" way that it got me to write 6000 words (and counting) of a stupid wip so I could justify this existing.
Bonus notes: Haven is specifically pretending to be asleep because he doesn't want to talk about the mess in the kitchen. Taran isn't remotely annoyed about that but he would like for next time Haven to come downstairs and say hi instead of putting on a shirt and then pretending to be asleep again.

#seabirds.txt#seabirds.art#mystery twins#gemeos do misterio#q!bagi#q!cellbit#qsmp#i did research 1920s era clothing for this but i based a lot of it off of their mc skins.#cellbit is a sailor turned vampire who ended up in europe during wwi after fighting naval battles at sea and never came home#bagi becomes a journalist to find him and stumbles across vampires along the way not realizing he had become a vampire too#design notes: this all started off of bagi's newsboy cap which was popular in the 1920s with working men. i put her in men's pants because#wanted to give this energy of working a job traditionally not worked by women at the time. <- women started campaigning to work as#journalists notably around the late 1800s and early 1900s (at least in the us and some european countries (couldnt find info on brazil))#i was thinking of nellie bly when thinking of what bagi would be doing in this au! she also has a bandana to hide her neck where her vampir#bite would be and a hanky for blood clean up. perhaps something from home. cellbit is not concerned with hiding his own neck. he's just#wearing a dress shirt LOL. i feel like cellbit would be fully embracing his vampiric tendencies at this point and a part of more vampire#society than human while for bagi it would be the other way around (she's still looking for him in the human world using vampire resources)#that is why he is so bloodstained. i feel like in his free time he would be freelancing detective work for other vampires maybe to gather u#favors or something similar. he's a little bit fancy because of this but still casual enough that there's no suit involved.

#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid#like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat#or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already#good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive#to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil#i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better#but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because#it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak#and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but#come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and#makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality#i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was#IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall#AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think#plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS#a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason#im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your#audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small#thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small#its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers#i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang#anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and#rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz#netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub#no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same#ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me#i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing#yapping

finally tackled the absolute mountain of laundry in various states of cleanliness around my room. now all of it is sorted and put into its respective zones of "away".
#98% of my room being clean with visible floorspace is just finally handling the laundry#i am ashamed and embarrassed that i always have so much dirty laundry#eventually i'll get back to the point i was at when i was the coach of laundry where i'll have like a week's worth of shit to get done#and not a backlog of several months#eventually#and i will be working on not feeling so much shame about the state of my laundry#i don't *like* that i do it but there's nothing inherently immoral about it like the voice of my mother that shouts in my brain thinks#the put away laundry plus the effort i've been making to Make My Bed before sitting in it has helped me feel more settled in the space#so that's good#when i am not as concerned about blocking the various registers in my room i will be in business#(mattress on the floor only fits in one specific corner right by the intake)#(output register is awkwardly directly in the middle of the opposite side of the room which makes arranging the furniture where i'd like it#an interesting endeavor that i'm not super excited in attempting to orchestrate in the future)#i know where i'd *like* things to go#whether or not that'll actually be feasible is another story#also i think i'm going to have to just go through my clothes with the mindset of actually getting rid of things#i threw out a couple pairs of socks because they were worn so thin i'm not sure mending would have fixed the holes#like that that point i'm making a whole new sock and you know what i could do instead? not do that#i also have a lot of Baggage Items i haven't quite gotten around to divesting myself of#(as in the items of clothing have a lot of emotional baggage tied to them that i may or may not be using to negative effect on myself)#lots of old shit lots of things that don't fit lots of things i don't even like actually#but it was free or nearly so and i've just held onto it because free#only a few things are kept because i like wearing them and the texture is nice#so we'll just. go through some stuff and eventually i'll get to the point that even if *all* of my clothes are dirty and on the floor#it doesn't take up my WHOLE goddamn room#that said this has in fact been a problem my whole life and so i don't imagine it's going to be quick or easy to fix lol

#I've got a pair of jeans that's like.. maybe twelve years old? and I've been patching all the holes over the last six months#and my most recent patch job I got some rainbow faux fur and I love it it's so awful#I need courderoy for the last patch job tbh. the mismatch texture would be so fun. they're my favorite pants#tag talk#honestly it's a tragedy I can't wear them to work because they have so much personality#thanks tumblr for teaching me about mending clothing. I have unlocked my most chaotic aesthetic attribute#and you can even use any cloth you want. Just use a larger denim patch as a backing and any fabric you want as a front that shows through#I need to rip out the earliest patching I did on an earlier pair of pants and redo much better now that I've had a lot more practice#the first pair of jeans I did I didn't back with denim I just used t-shirt fabric which stretches something awful so I need to rework it#I also need to go thrifting again and find some new fabric patterns to use for patching.#anyway. mending pants is so fun and I only need to worry about keeping good pants for work. otherwise I can just wear my old pants#Highkey once I get a sewing machine I'm gonna start making my own shit#I already have several shirts I'm gonna take in the waist on since clothing proportions are a nightmare

I’m watching this video about “Why I stopped doing a capsule wardrobe”, and she’s talking about how less consumption is better for the environment, and it’s easier to move when you have less stuff... And then she said, “And I just realized that I needed more than 50 items in my wardrobe.”
Fifty... items. For a capsule wardrobe.
Like, I’m assuming this count did not include things like underwear and socks. Maybe it did and I’m wronging her: if it did, 50 is reasonable. If it didn’t.... JFC. I own five pairs of pants. That’s it. Maybe 14 shirts, I think I’ve got a skirt and one dress and like four kinds of sweaters. That’s like HALF of her wardrobe, and I don’t even wear most of what I own. WTF

thinking of (once again) trying to do the switch to bluetooth earphones.........😓
#not ideal at all im a wired earphones til death but...my current ones' cable got super fucked up for some reason and only one of them works#and i fear it will stop working soon so im looking into earphones prices to get new ones#and ive been thinking...as much as i love them and prefer them... theyre very inconvenient when im out of the house because i dont#wear clothes with good pockets most of the time so i dont have anywhere to put my phone if i wanna listen to my tunes out in the street#unless im in the bus where i can carry my backpack close enough to me that i can put my phone in one of the pockets and be comfortable#its also inconvenient when i go to sleep bc i like sleeping with music on but as much as i love the geting choked by the cable thing#its probably one of the reasons why the cable got so fucked up in the first place#but of course bluetooth earphones also have a lot of cons#like having to charge them ???? and then the battery only lasts not even 3 hours i think#which is insane#then its also easier to lose them or imagine if im out on the street and one falls of???? im super terrified of that#wired earphones are more secure#again. both have many pros and cons so idk#would love to know if anyone has an opinion on this#the difference in the price is not that big so it's the same on that front idrc#cami.txt

Though it’s true he has his go-to type outfits which are nothing much special, I’m not sure it’s possible to pin down Svern’s actual fashion preference, if he has one. He will wear a great many things if he gets the chance / feels like it.
