Why HuskerDust Isn’t Canon
I’ve seen a lot of Angel Dust-involved ship critical posts lately, all of them cruel and mean-spirited and all of them from those HuskerDust shippers who give the rest of them a bad name and go out of their way to attack anyone with a ship involving either Husk or Angel. They do this because “HD is canon”, and even those who don’t like the ship have resigned themselves to it being canon. But here’s the thing: in both the actual text of the show and in the meta, it’s not. And I’m going to go through several points to prove that it isn’t canon. (Note: these are all tropic flags and nothing else. Consider this a tiny media literacy course.)
Getting this out of the way: this isn’t anti-HD, a discouragement from shipping HD, or saying “it’s literally never going to be canon”. Obviously, people are free to ship whatever they want for whatever reasons they want; this isn’t intended to bully members of the fandom or to shame anyone who ships it, nor to attempt to convince people not to ship it. This is simply a response to claims of the canonicity of the ship being used to bully non-shippers, and speaking from the viewpoint of the narrative, the tropes, and the meta, it is not canon.
tl;dr: I don’t hate the shippers, I hate the bullies. This is not a discourse invitation, this is a trope analysis. If you don’t like what I’m saying, move on or block me. If you think I’m being mean, I really don’t care, because this is specifically a response to people who are being mean all the time. People in the fandom are terrified to be even vaguely critical of this ship because of the potential backlash, but I’m an Aquarius with a block button, idgaf.
HD was not confirmed canon by Medrano in an interview or on Twitter
To get this first point out of the way, the primary proof that HD shippers will use to claim their ship is canon is a Tweet Medrano put out after Episode 4 was put up on Amazon, as well as a Zoom interview where the interviewer asked her about HD.
The Tweet, which included a screenshot of Masquerade and asked what HD shippers thought of the episode, included the ship name. This is an example of engagement farming, a technique used in social media when people will use trending/popular tags, words, and phrases in order to increase engagement with posts and videos. The use of the HD ship name was not a confirmation of the ship; rather, it was used to capitalize on the ship’s popularity, ensuring that the algorithm would distribute it to as many people as possible. We know this was engagement farming because it was simply asking the people who shipped them what they thought of the episode. It didn’t call it a HD episode, nor did it say it was for the HD shippers.
In the Zoom interview, while the person conducting the interview used the term HD, Medrano herself never did. In fact, she went out of her way to avoid using the ship name, and instead, used the generic word “relationship” when describing their future interactions, a word she has also used to describe future progression between Charlie and Lucifer (so, if this makes HD canon, then it also means that Charlie and Lucifer will be a canon romantic ship).
HD was not confirmed canon by Blake Roman or Keith David
In much the same vein as the aforementioned Zoom interview, when Roman and David were interviewed about the interaction between Angel Dust and Husk, both actors carefully avoided using any terminology or wording that suggested a romantic relationship, only talking about the two of them as close friends. If the ship had actually been confirmed by Medrano months earlier, there would be no reason for the two of them to skirt around the issue. There was also nothing teasing the potential of the ship, simply straightforward information about their friendship.
Husk has been called Angel Dust’s “best friend” by Medrano repeatedly
Medrano has always, when referring to their future interactions, referred to Husk as Angel Dust’s “best friend”. Additionally, while she has never shied away from stating when a character has any form of romantic interest in another character, her only comment on Husk has been that he is pansexual, but she has quite specifically never once stated that he has any romantic interest in Angel Dust.
“Loser, Baby” is the “we’re not so different” buddy musical song
Much of Hazbin Hotel can only be understood through the lens of the form of media that it’s taking most of its cues from: namely, musical theater. There are many tropes that exist within musical theater, specifically in the types of songs themselves, that are used as shorthands to tell audiences what relationships are between characters and how they will be interacting going forward, because all storytelling in musicals are abbreviated by necessity, and songs exist to encapsulate large portions of character/story development in short periods of time.
“Loser, Baby” is, tropically speaking, a song that occurs during the main character’s lowest point in the first half of Act II. This is when they have encountered a massive hurdle in their journey (a breakup, a death, getting kicked out of their house or school, losing their dream job, etc) and are feeling hopeless and lost. In this instance, one of two kinds of songs will occur at this point during the show:
The first is the romantic duet, where the MC is dejected and negative, and their love interest is attempting to turn them around. This is the point when the love interest realizes they are in love with the MC, whether they confess these feelings or not, and is a plea for the MC not to give up.
The second is the “snap out of it, you moron” song. This takes place when the MC is on their own and is found by either a character we are familiar with who has realized they misunderstood the MC (who goes from being a point of conflict to a friend), a family member of the MC (usually either a sibling, an adult offspring, or a parental figure), or by a character we have never met before (generally one considerably older than the MC). This is the song where the other character confesses to the MC that they understand their pain because they were once in the same situation, or because they went through a similar painful progression if that situation hasn’t changed. This song typically carries a “suck it up, buttercup” message and is considerably more callous than the romantic duet, because it is a communication of tough love. It’s important to note that this is never a duet between the MC and their love interest.
“Loser, Baby” is quite firmly in the second category. It is not romantic in nature; rather, it’s Husk realizing that he misjudged Angel Dust and, subsequently, telling him “a lot of other people are in your position, I’m one of them, you aren’t special, stop whining”.
If “Loser, Baby” is romantic, Husk is a predator
For the entirety of the series up until this song, Husk has shown that he has absolutely zero interest in Angel Dust romantically. “Loser, Baby” comes on the heels of Angel Dust confessing to suffering from a great deal of physical and emotional abuse and manipulation, as well as crying in front of someone else for the first time, showing his first true moment of real vulnerability. If Husk uses that moment to suddenly show interest in Angel Dust, it says that either A) Husk is only interested in Angel Dust once he realizes that he is emotionally broken and in a vulnerable position, or B) Husk is willing to use this vulnerability to his advantage and subsequently manipulate Angel Dust. Both of these things are contradictory to Husk’s character.
Husk and Angel Dust have minimal interaction in Welcome to Heaven
Episode 6 has two plots: the A plot, which is Charlie and Vaggie visiting Heaven to attempt to bargain with the Seraphim; and the B plot, revolving around Angel Dust’s temptations to regress into his addictions. In the B plot, Husk’s only interactions with Angel Dust are judging him for wanting to do drugs (which directly contradict his claim in “Loser, Baby”, where he expressly states that he’s fine with Angel Dust’s hooking and drug addiction; it also comes while he is indulging in alcohol, his own vice, which is the definition of hypocritical), and being silently proud of him when he doesn’t do drugs. This is the behavior of the Shoulder Angel or of the Detached Father, not the love interest.
Angel Dust is a main character, Husk is not
Angel Dust is a member of the main cast, alongside Charlie, Vaggie, and Alastor. Husk is a secondary character. It isn’t feasible to have a main character pursue a relationship with a secondary character; you can have an MC who is already in an established relationship with an SC, but you cannot build a relationship between an MC and an SC because the SC doesn’t have enough lines or screen time. Keith David is also quite expensive, and there is no way the show will be able to afford the price that would be required for Husk to be a larger presence in the show.
There is a forty year age gap between the two
Sinners do not age, nor do they mature. We see examples of this in every single Sinner throughout Hell; Angel Dust is a good example, as he died in his 30s in 1947, meaning he would be (at minimum) 110 years old. However, he acts like a young man in his early 30s who spent most (if not all) of his life in a deeply repressed home. Another good example is Cherri Bomb, who is clearly in her 20s, but would be at least in her 60s by this point. Because of this, it is easy to determine that not only do their bodies not age, their minds do not, meaning that the age they were at time of death is the age they will be, mentally and emotionally, forever.
Angel Dust died in his 30s. The only official number Medrano ever gave for Husk’s age at death was 75, and she has stated both that he died in the 1970s and he was born before the year 1900. While no specific age has been stated for Angel Dust, he is written to be between the ages of 30 and 35, meaning that there is a minimum age gap of forty years between the two of them. Additionally, if Husk was intended to be the love interest of someone in their 30s, he would not have been specifically written to be an old man.
Angel Dust has never once come on to Husk
Angel Dust is a flirtatious and sexual character. However, his only flirtations with Husk have been responses to statements Husk made that could be taken out of context. Not only does he never take the initiative and flirt with him first, he also never propositions him; the closest he gets is telling Husk he would be lucky to be propositioned by him. (As a side note, Angel Dust has only ever propositioned two characters in the entire show: Alastor, both in the pilot and the first episode, and Alastor’s shadow construct in the second episode).
It could be said that this is because Angel Dust has “true feelings” for Husk and is, therefore, too shy to overtly proposition him, which brings us to the next point:
HD as a ship is built entirely on homophobic writing tropes
There are several points about this ship that are, ironically, homophobic, but I’ll be focusing on the last two points: the age gap and Angel Dust’s sexual nature.
The age gap: the gay male community has, since at least the time of the Ancient Greeks, been plagued with this idea that enormous age gaps are not only fine, they’re expected. Age differences that would never be tolerated in heterosexual or even lesbian couples are waved off when the characters in question are men. This has created the false expectation that many older gay men have--namely that they are “owed a twink”, and that younger gay men are almost required to submit themselves to a much older man as a rite of passage.
Angel Dust’s sexual nature: Husk has quite expressly stated he has no interest in Angel Dust’s overt sexuality, to the point that he refuses to even look at him as a person until Angel Dust reveals other facets of his personality. This suggests that, for a relationship to work, Angel Dust would have no choice but to repress his urges, or that Angel Dust’s sexuality is a front and he actually isn’t that overt. In either case, this would be a direct parallel to Angel Dust’s life as a gay man in the 1930s and 1940s, where he would have been forced to be closeted under threat of prison or death, and either Husk himself or the audience would be forcing him back into a form of that closet.
Crimini has no stated relationship with Angel Dust
Crimini, a character who is slated to appear in Season Two, has been described as Husk’s adoptive daughter who will make up the bulk of his character plot going forward. Not only does Angel Dust have no stated relationship with her, he has never once been mentioned alongside her character at all. If Angel Dust was intended to be Husk’s love interest, that would make him (functionally) another parental figure to Crimini, if perhaps a reluctant one; that would make him an integral part of Crimini’s future plot, but seemingly, the two have nothing whatsoever to do with one another.
Despite the fact that Medrano changes canon based on fan opinion all the time, the show is written too far in advance to change major plot beats just because one ship got really popular
We in the fandom know that Medrano has a tendency to fold in the face of fandom wants and desires. However, between the pilot and season one, the HD fandom was rather small; this would have been when Medrano was working with Amazon, getting future script approval and mapping out the way the story was going to go, and at the time, RadioDust was just about the only thing keeping the fandom alive long enough for interest to remain during the three year gap, and we all know that isn't going to be canon. Because of the sheer amount of overhead and advance planning that goes into something like this--particularly considering that season two was already in production in the wake of season one’s premier--the fact that the HD fandom grew after the season’s release would be unable to have any effect on the show because it would be far too complicated and far too expensive to make big changes. HD would only be viable if it was already planned from the beginning, which it quite clearly was not.
So what's my point with all of this? My point is that the content of media means things, and part of media literacy is understanding the difference between wishful thinking/projection and canon.

Ive been noticing an increase amount of Dreamtwt refugees, and let me preface with saying: Welcome!!! Genuinely, we lovingly welcome you to this happy lil community.
That being said, Tumblr is confusing, between the big etiquette book and the interface that hasn’t changed since 2008 there is a lot to learn. So this is my little attempt to a welcome guide tailored to our lil dream community! Feel free to add your own recommendations and stuff.
Tumblr is a Blogging site, a goog ol relic from ye olden days, your ‘profile’ is your blog, and you can put anything you like on there! However, please do change your avatar and background, we have a massive bot issue here and we tend to auto block someone with a standard avatar.
The main tags for the dream team are as follows: - just their entire usernames, but, those do get hooped up in controversy from time to time. -Dreamblr for the content creator dream
-Dreblr, for C!Dream
-404blr for CC George
-pandasblr for CC Sapnap
-Dtblr for the Dream team
PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING: #Dream, that’s for people actually posting about their dreams, and #myct as it is mostly used for general MYCT stuff, we prefer to stick to our own spaces.
‘how do I find people?’ you go to any of these tags, find someone you vibe with and click ‘follow’. The algorithm here sucks, and we don’t advice the ‘for you’ page.
On that note, the ‘like’ button is useless, use reblog instead! If you like someone’s hot take, art or stupid shit post, REBLOG. Its how we keep our fandom alive and active here :D
When you reblog you usually keep your comments in the tags, one only really uses the comment section when they DON’T want to reblog. (usually because of le discourse).
Send people asks! People love to chit chat, you can do it anonymously! Tell that one artist youd love to have their brain for lunch! Engage with everyone! We love discussion and open communication here. (prob since there is no real word limit to posts)
Tumblr has developed a nice ‘block liberally, no need to make a fus’ culture. You can block someone for any reason, and it really isn’t a big deal.
On the Tumblr is more relaxed note, we tend to be more relaxed on CC boundaries, since most CC’s do not use twitter. If you don’t like people breaking CC boundaries, even in places where they cant see it, follow the advice above and blockkkkk!!!
Please spell out words! Don’t censor triggering words at it can fuck with people’s filter settings, by censoring these words you put people in more risk.
Now for some technical advice: Most tumblrina’s turn on ‘hide likes and follower count’ . Any blog can have 4 people following it or 4000, we like to keep it mysterious.
Also turn of ‘best content first’- once again, the algorithm is not to be trusted.
Furthermore, you can really personalize your Tumblr experience and please do! Under ‘account’ you can find many options to filter the content you see, make use of it, for your mental health sake.

Hhhuugh so the reddit incident came and went but I know there's going to be a handful of twitter users that don't know jackshit about tumblr and are migrating here. Honestly it's valid that you all jumped ship because there's only going to be two outcomes to this:
-Muskratatouille is going to realise he fucked up and remove the rate limit.
- He refuses to admit his mistake and kills twitter.
So welcome! I hope you like my blog. Here's a revamp of some things you need to know before interacting with me and some general notes you need to know:
Massive porn bot problem here that can actually harass you and other users by sending porn through dm's and asks. Also shares malicious links to sites which is a big no-no. Therefore, PUT A DAMN PFP AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR BLOG, AND REBLOG POSTS. That's the only way to let people know that you're not a bot and that you're 100% a living breathing human. Lurking only works through reblogging without adding tags. (Side note: irl Hot lady pfps are not that great. Bots use them all the time. Anime hot lady is fine.)
Likes do jackshit. Tumblr is more of a blogging website than a social media platform. The way it circulates and brings attention to posts is by a sharing system called reblogging. If you really want to support artists, writers, game devs or just wanting your friends to see some funny posts, reblog it. (Reblogging artists work is not the same as reposting on this site. It helps us.)
Tags are your friends in this site. You can use them to navigate through content of your favorite subjects or you can add your thoughts to them. They can also help sort out your own original posts on your blog. (for example I use 'I ramble' on posts that have nothing to do with my fandoms.)
If you censor a word I will personally break your computer. You can say whatever the hell you want on this website and you won't get in trouble (unless it's hate speech, which you can report.)
Pt 2 of the above point: The reason why I'm so adamant on this point is because tumblr has a filter system. Users use this system to filter out content and tags that they don't want to see. This helps a lot for people with triggers and over all curating your online experience. By censoring words, you are bypassing these filters and doing more harm then good. Don't censor your words. If you want to use this feature go to settings and click on "content you see".
Pt 3. With that said, please please tag your posts if they have triggers or upsetting material. Whether you do dark content or not, it is important to tag your posts if they have a well known trigger.
There is no algorithm. You create it using tags. Your post going viral is a 50/50 gamble and you better hope it's a post that's actually great.
You can block anonymous askers since you need to use an account to send asks. Have fun.
Blocking users is much more effective. You can't see or interact with their posts and vice versa. Go wild.

Sabine , I think you're being a bit harsh on Louis. I think celebs can call out of block anyone whom they want to. Liam should have done that more often. Also , Louis didn't publicly block them they didn't have to share that he blocked them ? I know Ash and her tweets aren't always rainbow and sunshine . So I don't blame him blocking her.
I get what you mean and the way you put it makes total sense. He’s a human being who should be allowed to curate his timeline in a manner that’s enjoyable and healthy for him. I also want to clarify (and I said it before already) I’m incredibly appalled by that post captioned *Gunsh^t* and I’m the first to block people left and right on Twitter who don’t pass the vibe check for me. This is not about her.
However, Louis is using his business account for this, and that’s what I’m struggling to understand. Finstas and burner accounts exist for a reason. When Harry says he uses social media to look at plants, it’s not because Harry Styles (blue ✅) blocked his own fans, unfollowed all his celebrity mutuals, and publicly followed home interior accounts to modify his algorithm and FYP. Harry does all of that from a private account completely separate from his public account.
So from human being to human being, Louis, kindly, log off from your LT ✅ and create a burner far away from the people who post memes about you, your man and the family attached to you.

If you’re going to put a huge obnoxious watermark over everything you draw, what is the point of uploading your work at all? Sure, the evil algorithms can’t see it but neither can anyone else. Unless you’re just virtue signaling that you think Elon musk is bad on a site he doesn’t even run or go on because you think that’ll get you more notes
nah im actually paywalling my watermark off version I'm sorry!! ;;w;; But I try to take the FUCK ELON part off from it when i post it on non-twitter websites but i tend to be too lazy about it. too cumbersome to make 2 different versions when i have to glaze and nightshade (anti-AI filtering) each of them with my slow ass pc.
I'm sorry if that annoyed you more than Elon Musk himself bothers you tho. but it probably did since you even wanna type out all these so i see your concern about my pesky virtue signaling. But for me tho, if I were to post smth on twitter in todays political climate. Esp if i post my art, I want to show where I stand every single time. I Cant delete the acc there for financial reasons (I am a comm artist i need to connect to my clients,) and I am rightfully angry that Grok eats my art no matter what. + I want Grok to say FUCK ELON as the result. I don't think its gonna happen just cuz one artist does it everytime they post on twitter. but 1 is more than 0 yk. so thats what im doing. yk its like saying "Fuck JKR" if i dare to speak about my favorite Harry Potter stuff. I need to make it clear where i stand. So sorry that this and my laziness for not taking off the watermark when i post it on tumblr bothered you so much. you can block me. I hope youre doing well. have a good one honestly.

A difficult decision (About Twitter / X) / Une décision difficile (À propos de Twitter / X)
Tumblr media
To illustrate the post, I'm including one of my recently drawn drawings. The NecroBeast really symbolizes the toxicity that invades Nora as it invades me.
[Eng]
Given my current state of mind, I'd rather make this announcement here, on Tumblr, than on Twitter/X (because I don't really want to stir up even more stress than I already have).
And the problem actually concerns this social network (Twitter/X). Since its acquisition by EM, quite a few changes have been made, particularly to the algorithm.
I've noticed that people tend to block others, not personally, but to balance their recommendations because, yes, the Twitter/X algorithm constantly puts the same people back on the feed despite the mention and insistence of the "Not interested" button, which pushes others to block for technical reasons. Personally, I thought I was blocked because I had done something wrong, but in hindsight, I think I'm one of the users who constantly return to other people's feeds without meaning to. A few months ago, one of the users blocked me without any explanation. I had to contact him via another social network (Bluesky) to ask why, and he told me it wasn't personal at all, but that the algorithm was unbalanced, which explained the blocking, and he unblocked me. From my experience, there's reason to be paranoid, questioning what you did wrong or not (when, in fact, not at all, but yes, I do question my actions on the social network ((Even though I suspect somewhere that people think I like AI art when I don't! I'm just curious and saddened but not really interested))). 😆😅
In addition to the unbalanced algorithm, there's also the problem of bots interacting with our posts, which results in us being labeled as bots in return, even though we're not.
Anyway ! All this to say that because of this even more anxiety-provoking and toxic atmosphere of Twitter / X with this change in the algorithm, I thought about being more and more active on Bluesky (and on the other networks, don't worry!) because it's better balanced and more chill. I would have hoped that Ankama could go there too but since there is no announcement on it (otherwise I would have known since they announced a YouTube channel with "Ankama Animations" not long ago), I will continue to react to their posts while being less active, if possible, on the publication of my drawings because it is difficult for me to disconnect with more than 9 years of activity on this social network.
Afterwards, yes, some people manage to leave because they're fed up with the "new" Twitter, and I can understand this frustration since I feel it too while writing this post, which is almost a cry for help.
It's rare that I write a post like this… 😶‍🌫️
Anyway ! 😮‍💨
Thank you so much for reading. 😊 I sincerely hope you understand my decision because with everything that's been happening for about 2-3 years, it's no longer possible to stay positive and healthy.
If you're on Twitter/X, don't let this paranoia and toxicity take over. 🙏 Take a moment to breathe, like I'm doing now (in addition to being more and more active on Bluesky, I'm taking the time to play video games, which I haven't had time to play fully for the past few months precisely because of my overactivity with drawing and writing. We're actually invisible).
P.S. for commission art scammers (english only) : Don't comment or like this post, I see it ! If you do this, it will be an immediate block with reporting
---
[Fr]

Why I banned all of the blue checks on Twitter and what happened...
So a bunch of Blue check people saw that and then didn't think to themselves, ah, my money is going towards this thing. It's going towards Elon. 15 dollars or whatever isn't enough to do that and then openly mocked it and then... kept their blue checks because obviously
*Sarcasm* Followers are a lot more important than defeating fascism and protecting democracy.
and then those same accounts are screaming and crying about how the economics won't work out and how important it is that Dems lost, etc.
But they kept their Blue Checkmarks while complaining about Elon.
And maybe it's ND of me, but WTF. And I know someone is going to say but engagement is their livelihood. And what are they supposed to do anyway?
Maybe stop giving Elon money?
I know, it's a wild idea.
And I know the block feature doesn't block those people completely, but it stops me from engaging with them and then if enough people block the blue checkmark people, and their follower count comes down, the system should collapse.
Cry me a fucking river about how you, a dem, thought those people voting in their economic interests is more important while you keep your fucking Blue checkmark. Leopards Ate your damned face and you still kept it and didn't realize it? Fuck you.
You aren't better than the rest of the voting population. You voted with your money. I'm blocking the blue checkmarks when I find them and you know what happens when you do that?
Tumblr media
This is the amount of replies you see. Yes, only this amount. There were 4.9K replies? Welp, not anymore.
And then it tries to push the premium subscription more and more in your face. And I used Block element
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/element-blocker/
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/click-to-remove-element/jcgpghgjhhahcefnfpbncdmhhddedhnk?hl=en&pli=1 to block that.
And then the algorithm starts to quake in your face as suddenly all of the blue checkmarks are DOWN THE PAGE. OMG, it actually learned and is trying to protect all those accounts.
And suddenly the algorithm learns you are blocking the blue checkmarks and for some reason they don't show up in your feed anymore or very few. And if you block those too, is starts trying to protect those accounts more and more, confused as hell. And then the feed starts to slow down. And you see a lot, lot less engagement bait. And now I feel a lot more sane.
Full disclosure, the only reason I'm on Twitter is waiting patiently for the literary agents to come over. The majority of the queer writers have transferred to BlueSky. There is a really healthy community of queer and liberal writers there.
And I'm saying social justice is sometimes as simple as that. It's as simple as begging your Literary agent to get an account on Blue Sky if they want queer writers. It's as simple as banning Blue Checkmarks because they are crying while paying that fucking skunk money which he gave to Trump. Food is a lot more politically dicey than doing this.

It's not like this blog has attracted virtually any attention so I don't know what good it is posting here, but I feel a little guilty saying nothing at all when the least I could do is leave a sort-of farewell note explaining why I'm not around.
Uh basically I'm very done with writing. I owe thousands of words to various commissioners, and I still intend to get that work done, but beyond that, I'm not going to waste any more of my time writing stories. The whole endeavor has plainly not been worth it, all the stress of a second job but with a fraction of the pay, so I'm just going to stop.
And really, it hasn't been about the money. I've always undersold myself because I know the true value of writing as a job is worth extremely little, and that most of writing is based on passion. What I've strived for previously was not to make a lot of money or a living off of writing, but to simply put stories out and have them be read. What I desired most was feedback -- not necessarily criticism, but literal feedback, any signal or indication that people are reading my stories, that these stories affect people and that they're happier having read them. But for years none of my stories have been getting noticed, certainly not enough attention to merit months of work or even the amount of effort it takes to upload and advertise a story on social media. You can see how a vast majority of my uploads here on this Tumblr have 0 notes. On Twitter, I was lucky to get two or three likes from some of my regular followers that habitually liked anything I posted. I go to my Patreon stats and see mere double digits of anyone even clicking the damn links. So this main goal of mine, to simply have my stories be enjoyed, is utterly failing.
The reality is that I am not a good writer. If I was a better writer, I'd see more success -- my momentum from Endless would have continued for a little more than just a couple months of attention. Even Endless itself was a strike of luck, because the only reason that story saw so much success is because it got stuck on the first page of giantessworld.net so it got a disproportionate amount of notice. Maybe this wouldn't bug me so much if I didn't see other writers of varying skill levels doing much, much better than me with regards to social media interactions -- blogs that have existed for days get triple digit notes, blurb-sized fetish writing tweets that get shared by dozens of accounts, etc. Clearly there's a right way to do these types of things and I've just been doing them wrong lol.
Not helping whatsoever is how anti-erotica every social media seems to be. And I do mean erotica specifically. Obviously you can find tons of outright porn here on Tumblr or Twitter or basically where the fuck ever. But an account that just posts writing? Weird fucked up niche writing about fetishes? With NO pictures??? The algorithm simply will not allow it. I'm constantly under pressure to have to expand my skillset to include abilities I have not honed, leaving me with the option to either learn how to draw myself (basically taking on a third job so I can practice an art craft i don't even want to be practicing just so my main craft can get non-fucked by an invisible intangible algorithm) or, my favorite, ~hire an artist~ to make images for me so that I can at least pretend it's my writing that people enjoy and not the actual art I had to pay someone to make.
To top it all off, I just don't feel like writing any more. I've been writing giantess stories nonstop for five years and I'm basically done with it. I haven't had any ideas that genuinely interest me, no inspiration to create, everything feels like it's either been done before or it's trying way too hard to be an original concept for a size setting. More than just a case of writers block, I really don't feel joy from writing anything. On a technical level, all I can imagine is the silent criticisms, people cringing at my writing but never explaining why it's bad, because again, none of my stories ever receive any category of feedback, so I'm left wondering completely how people felt any way about a project that took me months to finish. I just have to assume that if no one is saying anything, it must be because there's nothing good to say about it; I see all sorts of dumpy little comments on other people's publications, but I get zero, implying something critically wrong with my art compared to others.
Eventually, the goal is to close the Patreon, the discord, and all other accounts -- probably only once I've caught up on all commission work and can just deactivate peacefully. By then I hope to have at least uploaded or re-uploaded everything I've written onto some place for record purposes, maybe ten years from people will feel like reacting to my writing lol. Until I fully deactivate, expect me to be basically gone, I won't be taking any extra work and won't be checking messages. I hope some of you enjoyed what I made. Thanks for reading.

Since another twitter and apparently another reddit migration is coming I wanna remind y’all of some things
REBLOG EVERYTHING. the algorithm is broken and will NOT share posts if you just like them. Reblog them if u like them it helps sososososo much
Tags are very important for multiple reasons. Because we always reblog things make sure to make tags for specific types of posts so ppl can just go down that tag to find your content. If ur doing stuff like comments then put #[name]’s talks or something. Same thing goes for art
Adding onto that. Most content creators have specific tags for their content and usually have a masterpost with those tags you can go to. Please don’t try to scroll through seas of posts to find the content you need, just use the tags
The block button if your best friend and you should use it all the time no one wants to see u argue
DECORATE YOUR ACCOUNT. LIKE IMMEDIATELY. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. We have a bot problem and you will be blocked if you go around without something identifiable on your account. U could literally just change your pfp and banner

Putting aside the fact that Twitter is owned by an Alt Right man child who doesn't know shit about running a business, the main reason why I detest Twitter so much is because it encourages people to be the worst versions of themselves.
It's an app that's designed to keep you outraged, angry, and miserable 24/7.
"Oh, but you can curate what you see" yeah no, that's total bullshit.
You can create an account and not follow a single person, but guess what? The trending bar is always there, the algorithm is still gonna recommend you shit that you don't wanna see. Hell, even if you end up blocking the majority of Blue Check Mark users, there are still gonna be trolls on burner accounts who are gonna harass you if one of your posts starts to gain traction.
Oh, and muting words and phrases doesn't work, as stuff that's related to muted words and phrases will keep showing up on your timeline.
While some people are desperately trying to find a Twitter alternative, I'm personally trying to get away from it. I hate what it does to people and I honestly think that the world would be better off without it.
There are plenty of Twitter clones that idiots can flock to, let them all rot there and maybe the internet can start being a little less toxic.

to clarify (sorry for the double ask), i don’t mean to sound invasive or pushy and if you only block for specific reasons and something about me broke that i accept that and totally understand, i’m just confused bc i keep seeing your bg3 gifsets on other blogs and i can’t rb them anymore which is a shame bc they’re great
hi anon, i’m sorry i can’t give you a solid reason why i blocked you but i do block very liberally, maybe your reblog of a post i’m not interested in landed on my for you tab and i didn’t want it in there. it’s almost never personal, and just about me curating the “heavily governed by a mysterious algorithm” parts of this site because if i don’t i’ll be inundated with things i don’t want to see and if THAT happens i will become even more of a passive aggressive hater. this could be tv shows i don’t care about, ships i’m neutral about or admittedly good responses to bad takes but i don’t want to be exposed to the bad takes in the first place. if i’m overexposed to that stuff i notice i start making passive aggressive vent vagueblogs and i don’t want to be that kind of person
also fwiw i recently had a few bad experiences with the bee gee 3 fandom which led to me backflipping out of the fandom (which here means ‘deleting 90% of the posts in my queue and either unfollowing or blocking everyone i followed earlier in the month’) because it kind of poisoned my enjoyment of the game. i have the relevant tags blacklisted but if there’s untagged posts on my for you page i just block the person who put it there.
tldr genuinely ty for the compliments and i’m sorry for blocking you but until tumblr steals twitter’s mute feature i kinda have to block like this. it probably wasn’t personal i’m just trying to not let social media turn me into an asshole.

tw: pr0ship mention, me being utterly confused bc of twitter, me probably overthinking a common issue in fandoms
ok so like....why is almost all of playfellowxxx on twitter specifically just pr0shippers?
Not trying to start anything here ive just been trying to avoid them and block like im supposed to and it just seems like im blocking 70% or more of the people in the tag bc they're pr0ship (plus the small percentage that were pr0ship AND who were apparently ped0s via proof of call out posts).
and like dont get me wrong here, im not trying to be hateful here im just not sure how to find out if someones pr0ship unless i dig (which im rather uncomfortable with doing). bc pr0shippers literally out here reblogging from ppl with "pr0ship dni" in their bios n everything and its like....confusing? and just to be clear i do not have a playfellowxxx centered account, i do not post any content on it.
Plus like there's the problem of antis mistakenly/maybe intentionally following pr0shippers accounts to the point where its in big letters "Antis stop following this account" so obviously im not the only one whos confused. I don't see how like blatant antis and pr0shippers end up like constantly reblogging from one another unless one of a few things are happening:
Ppl are blatantly disregarding the dnis to reblog bc of serious issues (like the callout posts w/ evidence of minors being preyed upon) which I'm a little iffy about bc like thats still a persons dni??? (which this doesn't cover any of the other instances where its just reblogs of art from antis and pr0ships on the opposites accounts) (plus this would be the rarest of occurrence)
2. Either side sees the art, doesn't read the bios/disregards bio so theyre unknowingly following the other (which is still iffy, for that large percentage of them that put it in their bio n pinned posts, you think it wouldn't be difficult to like...just know right?)
3. There are so little antis in the fandom that they are communicating w/ pr0ship n either claiming to be neutral/pr0ship themselves bc they don't have any mutuals and want their art to be boosted in the algorithm (which i don't believe is the case)
4. Theyre all pr0ship and just put "pr0ship dni" in their username bc of not liking the fandoms equivalent of character x themselves, or other stuff/don't want hate on their twitter posts or dms (which i know isn't right either bc theyve activity said about going on blocking sprees/getting extremely upset seeing that mutuals ended up being pr0ship?)
I mean there could be other reasons I'm just not aware of what it might be. It's honestly been something thats been bugging me for a lil while but I've been unable to speak about it freely due to not really having anyone to discuss it with.
I really don't expect a response here bc ppl have "tl:dr" in my comments before on my old account when i talked about serious stuff, but if you want to throw me a reason, go for it.
again this is a serious post, I'm trying to be respectful despite this being a rather big issue for others in the fandom. /serious

I kinda hate the do you like x music blogs
I hate it because it is just like those insta/twitter pages thats just post movie/show clips for engagement baits so people have to comment and ask what its from and experience the oh “this works on my computer oh found the fix” of media.
Oh but boat its a game they will answer it in a week
Look at me straight in the eye if you think you or I will remember about it within the next week let alone see it on the dash or find it in my likes that grows with over 10+ more posts everyday let alone the blog itself posting about it cause thats a sea on its own like do you even use this website.
like its presented as a hear a new thing so why the hell is it made out to be a game when the design is not represented as such you want it to be a game then follow the rules of game design of instant gratification/instant response especially if you flood yourself of others, put the answer into the read more thingy.
so i can put it into my playlist no i havent heard this song i like it let me play with the song go through the whole album and artist, put it through the algorithm to find similar new songs.
The only blogs in this that succeed in being a game is the do you know this sfx like that is a game.
Im so close to making a counter gimmick blog that im sure will get quickly blocked cause of the no spoilers rule that has no reason to its existence.

hii! there actually is a guidebook to tumblr (etiquette)... somewhere... somehow... it's just a random post made by someone, but i can't find it anymore lol(???) last time i saw it was in september 2024 but it was really useful so i suggest trying to find it
but if you're lazy like me and don't want to put in all that work, here's the brief summary of what i remember it saying:
your feed is called a "dashboard", but we call it a "dash". don't ask why, we just do.
asks can be used for... asking questions... but they can also be used for starting a conversation or telling the blogger something. this is different from PMs (Private Messages) because PMs generally stay private, while asks are very easily posted
reblogging is always allowed, always appreciated, and heavily encouraged. tumblr doesn't really have an algorithm, so likes and comments don't affect how much a post is shown. tags are how people can find a post, but reblogs are the main way posts are spread around. so reblog your heart out!!
again, if you don't tag your posts (like hashtags), no one will see them
tags can be used as hashtags, but they can also be used as a kind of "P.S." field — useful things go in the normal text field, things like jokes or backstory goes in the tags
in my experience, PMs are rarely used. these are more for actual friends; mutuals (otherwise referred to as moots) generally reblog, ask, and/or make an original post and tag whoever they're talking to
do not, as an adult, PM a minor. they will likely automatically assume you're a creep, because what would you have to say to them in PMs that you couldn't just post?
comments are a rabbithole. i don't understand them. they're weird. i'd say comments are used to comment on what's in the post without contributing to the conversation — imagine comments as "LMAO ME TOO" and yes/no questions, where reblogs are more like "OH MY GOD THAT REMINDS ME OF [insert related story]" and "why/what/how" questions that require longer answers
anything you post in a community won't appear on your blog, unless you repost the community post onto your blog. yes, that sentence is hard to read for me too.
tumblr is a lot more mature than, say, tiktok or twitter. we thrive on "if you don't like, block" culture, and we don't often do petty drama. if someone gets cancelled here, they likely did something morally wrong (discrimination, environmental damage, etc), instead of a silly reason twitter would cancel someone for like eating a strawberry. yes, that actually happened.
you can be well-known on tumblr, you can be infamous on tumblr, but you cannot be famous. tumblr isn't a space for influencers, but for community. i mean, you could try to become famous on here, but it likely won't work
and lastly, while you can't become famous, your posts can. read @/hellsite-hall-of-fame
This is low-key amazing TY😭

This is a good post and I was proud to discover that with a couple of exceptions I was actually already independently doing most of the stuff in it, but a point of contention I have is that I don't know where this idea that the reason people on Twitter censor words like "commission" and "patreon" is because of algorithmic suppression came from.
I don't know, maybe the message has got so garbled in a big long game of telephone that that's the modern reasoning, but the original reason you didn't want to do that was because of bots. In particular, the nasty wave of bots from about a year and a half ago that would search twitter for activation words like "commission", "patreon" or "paypal", then change their avatar and display name to yours, their handle to one that visually resembled yours at a glance (using an uppercase i for an l or somesuch if they were lucky enough but otherwise with a couple of different substitutions they would run through in milliseconds until they found one that would work), then reply to your tweet saying "Here's the link!" or somesuch and post either a spurious link to a paypal or whatever that belonged to their owner, or a straight up phishing link. Then finally they would block you so that everyone looking at your tweet could see the reply but you couldn't.
Of course, the (reduced, but continued) existence of these bots is honestly more fuel for Taylor's point about putting the link in the original post. The bots do have a strategy for that where they try to discredit the original link as a "mistake" or a "typo", but it's generally less effective, especially since with the link in the OP people have less reason to scroll the replies.
I must admit I thought the algorithmic suppression of specifically OPs with links was still a thing Twitter did, but that may not be true and the convenience of a one-stop tweet might override it anyway. I might have to do some A/B testing with that once I'm putting out stories again.
hey i want to talk about how you should be promoting your work as an erotic author/illustrator
i'm writing this up because the marketing aspect of my work as an erotic author/illustrator is a science to me, and also because i'm the guy who gets unreasonably annoyed when i see other creators not properly advertising their work. you presumably want to make money off your work. this post will be written under the assumption you want to make money off your work but are doing a bad job at it. it will be very confrontational. if you read this and feel attacked you're right and i am attacking you.
this is geared toward selling erotic comics/writing/books/art as products. i will probably write more than one post about this subject so if i didn't touch on something you want to know more about, comment/send me an ask and i'll keep it in mind for the next one.
i will start with my first and least specific but most important point:
DON'T GET FUCKING CUTE
hi are you paying attention. i'm gripping you by the sides of your face. do not get fucking cute with what you are trying to sell. you are not a big enough property to get cute, nobody LIKES it when big properties get cute, and you are selling porn. you have to own this. you have to be up front about this. don't be tongue in cheek, don't be all teehee i wonder what this could be~, don't be secretive. you are selling a product. you have to fucking act like it. you are an adult selling pornography to other adults. i am GRIPPING your HEAD you NEED to understand this.
and to be clear when i say 'cute' i mean coy. i don't mean cutesy, as in the aesthetic. you can be as hello kitty pastel ten emojis a post uwu as you like when you're building your audience and generating hype. but when you start trying to sell, don't be vague, don't be sarcastic, don't mislabel your work as a joke and assume everyone is on it. because they're not.
you must always assume 75% of the people seeing the thing you are advertising have no fucking idea who you are. and that includes a huge chunk of the people who already follow you. they do not know who you are or what you've been working on for two months or why they should care about it. they just got here. somebody just reposted it. they are seeing it for the first time. most people are only looking at social media for a tiny chunk of their day. they are not keeping up with you. you cannot get cute about what you are trying to sell because nobody knows what it is until you tell them.
okay are you still with me. we are going to talk about clarity now.
YOU GOTTA TELL ME WHAT IT IS
good lord the amount of times i have gone to buy somebody's comic or book and had no idea what's actually in it or what it's about. who are the characters? why should i care about them? what do they do in it? what is the premise of this thing you want me to spend $5 on? why would you not tell me? i'm shaking you again. please i have to know what i'm buying i only have so much money to spend on porn.
porn, arguably more than any other genre, relies on knowing exactly what is in it. you do not want to surprise your readers with a kink they were unaware of! and on the flip side, you do not want to miss out on your target audience! if your book contains a hot spider babe laying eggs in an elf, you have to say so. not just so people who don't want to read about eggs know it isn't for them, but so the people who are egg crazy can see that and go "oh fuck YES i love EGGS here is my $5 and an extra $2 tip for catering to me specifically". a contents/features list is as much an advertisement as it is a warning!
as for re: who the characters are and why should i care, i'm sorry but you need to learn how to write sales copy. you have to write blurbs. you have to get good at the shit that goes on the back of a book. we all hate it but we have to do it. i want to know who the characters are and what the context is. i, personally, am not interested in contemporary stories as much as fantasy and historical. please tell me what genre this porn exists in so i know if it aesthetically appeals to me. pull some books off your shelves and see how they do it. hell man go look at mine.
while you're there, note that every single book of mine has a sample of what's in it. this feels like such a no-brainer to me but again! the amount of times i have gone to buy somebody's work and they don't show me what their work looks like! you gotta give me the first page or two! just enough that i know if i like the way your writing sounds, or the way you draw your comics! i don't know you! i am not going to trust that you're good at what you do just based on a cover. the cover is to get me to this step, it is not the only step. you have to show me that you're worth spending my money on!
to put it less cynically, you want to catch my interest. you want me to go 'oh i want to see more of this', you want me to go 'ahh i want to know where this goes!' you need to get me invested and craving more. earn my $5!!!
YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT EASY TO GIVE YOU MONEY
hey go look at your bio right now. go look at your pinned post. do you have a link to your patreon there? do you have a link to your itchio/gumroad/whatever? do i have to click more than once to get to the places you want me to go to give you money? why? why are you making me click twice? have we learned nothing from every website making you click an extra time when they make some stupid UI update and how much it pisses us off? i have already given up, i have forgotten you, i am not giving you my $5 today. put your links in the easiest places to get to them.
god literally as i was writing this post i went to go find somebody's itchio to see how they described their work and it was not anywhere on their profile. grabbing you and shaking you PUT THE LINK WHERE I CAN FIND IT. don't make it hard! make it easy! i am a dickhead sitting on the toilet scrolling, saw your post, and was interested enough to read further. but you made me go to your bio to find your linktree and oops i have already gone back to my timeline to look at the boobies in the next post. stop wasting precious bio space on DNIs and put your fuckin links there!!!
this is more for the twitter people, but: just put the link in the damn post. just say the word commission. just say it's for patreon. "wuh wuh the algorithm" it is not the damn algorithm it's that everybody hates advertising and nobody wants to retweet ads. putting slashes in the words doesn't do anything and you look like a fool. i have posted so much art that says it's 'a commission for ___" and it did exactly as good as any other art despite having the word commission in it. and by doing the slashes you just made it impossible for anybody to search your account for your commission information (which should be at the VERY LEAST in a post under your pinned tweet if you're not actively posting about them being open).
okay that went on a tangent i'm going to back to the point of putting the link in the tweet. put it in the first post. not in the first reply. don't tell them to go to your bio. put it in the post people are actually going to share. it's fine to put more information in the thread but people are only ever going to share the first post. so put the link there. you have to make it easy. putting links in tweets can hurt you algorithmically, even in the replies. so you're better off having it in the post that actually gets seen and shared. i don't want to open the tweet and scroll to get to your sales page where i ASSUME you will have put all the information anyway. put it in the tweet that just got retweeted by itself onto my dash!
also you have to share it a ton of times. i repost my shit every few hours when i'm trying to push a new product. as i said before people are not 24/7 looking at their timelines. they missed it the first time. they missed it the second time. they didn't get paid yet that week but they were after the eighth time and you reminded them again so they finally bought it. that i will still get sales every time i repost a book ad weeks after release says there are always people who missed it, or who only just showed up.
abandon your pride and shill. shills pay their bills. anyone who gets annoyed about it isn't giving you money in the first place. don't worry about looking like a sell out. don't apologize for plugging your own work. post about it often, post about it in different ways. post about it. post about it. you are not going to make money if people don't know you have something to sell them. if you want to make a career out of it, you need to act like it.
I DON'T HAVE A FOURTH POINT
kisses your forehead. i'm sorry for yelling at you. i've been making and publishing and selling adult art for the past two-three years and have got myself to the point where it pays my rent, and i got there by paying attention to what does and does not work.
please do your best to make money. i want you to make money.
as i said above i plan to write more posts on this subject, such as cover design, how to actually write sales copy, and best practices with running a patreon, but if there's things you would want to hear more about leave a comment or send an ask! i will probably be less aggressive on future topics. these are just things that have grinded my gears for a grip.
