GOD there’s something so tragic about how all the horrors Ed fleetingly alluded to in s1 were so, so real. They were passive references, even sometimes jokes, when everything was bright and silly and hopeful. But when the lens is shifted everything takes on a new weight.

I mentioned it before but I can’t stop thinking about this line: “these past few weeks have been the most fun I’ve had in ages…years…maybe ever.” Ed meant that with his whole heart!!! His fall is all the harder because he was the highest up he’d literally ever been.

It’s just wild to think of the framing of this show because typically comedy implies that these characters live in a consistently comedic universe but it really is just that one blip in time up until this point. Ed and Stede’s solo stories are inherently tragic and yet when they come together they create a shared comedy universe. The meta use of genre in this show makes me CRAZY

ed is going to have physical, tangible proof of stede's love for him. like, his anxiety can try and jump through all the hoops it wants. his trauma can try and build up all these towering walls around him. his heart can try and cry that he's not worthy enough.

but that letter, so earnest and true and loving, is undeniable.

I have started watching the german dub of phineas and ferb for fun (or should I say phineas und ferb)

- the va for german candace is pretty good. however I’m fairly sure she is also the va for stacy so whenever they’re together it sounds like she’s talking to herself. she does a good job with the craziness though

- german phineas is kind of annoying I don’t much care for his voice

- german ferb sounds nothing like the og

- german doof is good. idk I don’t have anything to say about him. I prefer the english voice of course (probably cuz I’m just used to it) and I think the spanish dub does a better job at sounding like the og but it’s not bad

- german baljeet sounds exactly the same

- I like the dubs of the songs. they even dubbed the quirky worky song which like they didn’t have to do that but it’s cool

- “perry das schnabeltier” is very fun to say

- the episode titles are mostly way different from the english titles. like for example “don’t even blink” is “der unsichtbare beweis” which translated to english means “the invisible proof.” kind of interesting

- update apparently they changed the name of gimmelshtump to “dunkeldorf” that’s hilarious

hi. hey. it's been a hot second since my last meta post but ohhhh did i realize something while making my edits. ready? i wasn't. there's gonna be a number of screencaps so let's go

i think everyone *noticed* while watching but didn't really mentally elaborate on it because i at least was already too busy sobbing. now, during the entire confession scene, crowley is attempting to make eye contact while aziraphale does his best to avoid it.

wanna take a guess when that changes? the second he steps closer and says nothing lasts forever. suddenly crowley is the one looking away, he can no longer stand to look into his eyes because his heart just got broken into a million little pieces and he loves zira so fucking much.

aziraphale is staring straight ahead and crowley looks past him, looks out the window, up, everywhere but at him. he ends up looking down and at the glasses in his hands and guess what.

aziraphale? aziraphale FOLLOWS his eyes. FOLLOWS. look at how he moves his head to keep meeting crowley's gaze. the head tilt.

i quite literally could not decide which screencaps to use so have all of them.

what really gets me though, and this might just be me being a little bit insane and very gay, but i swear aziraphale glances at his lips. it is literally one frame but it is THERE. look!!

his eyes flick DOWN. just for a second but they move from crowley's eyes, where they have been for the last half a minute, to his mouth. and when crowley says good luck and walks past him? he STILL follows him. turns his entire head and body with him even while he is trying to catch up with what crowley is really saying.

alex, you may ask, why does this matter? because it is the other way around now, they switch roles, because crowley kept eye contact during his confession and this is aziraphale's confession.

this is HIM saying run away with me, let's go off together, let's be an us in heaven. he tries to soak up literally every single heartbeat of being able to look into crowley's eyes without any barrier between them. this is him trying. he literally moves with him just to keep looking at his pretty yellow eyes, the eyes he has come to get to know so so well over the last few years. the eyes that have been uncovered, his face bare, presumably every single time crowley was in the bookshop.

crowley hears "nothing lasts forever" and takes it as rejection.

aziraphale says "nothing lasts forever" and looks at the one thing, the one person, that IS forever to him - crowley. he cannot say the words and lets his eyes speak for him yet crowley has already closed himself off.

(side note: call me delusional which i am clinically psychotic and all but if crowley had not put on his glasses? had stayed just a bit longer? said the nightingale bit right then and there? fuck me, but i think aziraphale would have kissed him first)

aziraphale loves humanity, loves the world, but crowley is HIS world, he sees all of his creations, all his nebulas and stars, in his eyes and tries to find the joy in them that he once saw before the beginning of time.

The kiss has not much to do with love

The thing about this kiss is that most of people get it like a proof that Aziraphale and Crowley are in love, when it is not. What I mean by that (I'm not saying they're not in love, wait a minute, don't kill me), is their kiss has nothing to do with a desire from Crowley to kiss the being, angel, person he loves, like in the human way (because, hey, they're not human). I think Crowley was just copying how human beings usually love each other because he don’t know how celestial beings are supposed to express it, and he tried to make Azi understand what he feels the only way he knows how. The funny thing is, Nina thinks there are already partners and aware of being more than friends, because even humans (some of them anyway) knows that it doesn't require kissing to be in love.

As Neil Gaiman wrote "I don't think kissing scenes have so much to do with love [...] Crowley's kiss is about a lot of things but it's not to show they're in love." (link). Actually, if you needed that kiss as a proof that they're in love, you don't get most of the thing. This is why Gabriel and Beelzebub singing "Everyday" -together- is more meaningful than a kiss (Neil Gaiman wrote that too).

The point is, love is not a pattern to follow; it is personnal between two (or more in fact) beings and, as such, expresses itself a million time differently.

i’m trying to decide if i want to continue the cover project for season 2 as well. i want to because there are things that happen in the episodes and characters that i really wanna draw- but then again- the fandom is dying. if i do s2 covers idk if im doing it for me or doing it out of necessity.

i can’t move on from this fandom, i’m way to attached to it. it feels wierd to see people leaving. props to those who can, but i just can’t. i joined the fandom april 11th 2023. it feels like o just got here and im not ready to move on. it’s sad that im watching the fandom die as i am grasping at the remains just because i dont wanna lose it.
