I am speechless after this book. There are just.. SO MANY THINGS I CAN TOUCH IN WITH THIS.

• If Delilah Briarwood has no haters I’m dead.
• I didn’t expect the banquet and Sun Tree narrative to get worse. But it did. My therapist will be hearing about this.
• I did NOT anticipate the double edged dagger to the heart in Kymal with the “Fun Scary” to “Scary Scary” pipeline. That was— again my therapist will be hearing about this.
• Sharing a name with Laudna’s very first human friend was a very unique and personal experience I wanted to cry that entire timeline.
• Speaking of Bella, it is WILD TO ME how she and Imogen are the same age and probably have the same birthday— and Bella was implied to be a Ruidisborn, which tells me we get a reunion cameo soon I hope. I don’t know if I’d rather it be in a friendly way, or a villain way but I reallllllly hope it happens.
• Speaking of Imogen— how in the many planes of existence did they not kiss sooner?????? I never read something more romantic than Laudna’s thought on meeting Imogen and Imogen’s flustered reactions to Laudna. The blushing. The stammering. The devotion?????? I love them so much, they are so so special to me
• I adore Pate de Rolo with all my heart. His creation was so beautiful. Laudna making Delilah talk to and acknowledge him gave me joy.
• I adore the name Adorabelle so so much

My brother recently got into Demon Slayer so I wanted to make a kny oc for him since I did it before with both me and my sister and never got around to my brother :)
But I started by refreshing my own design because wow?? It’s been 4 years since I first made my kny insert character and a lot of things are now outdated! Not to mention my art has improved a lot, I hope. More details under the cut!
Meet Ebisu Koharu: youngest of the Ebisu family and physically the weakest. They only barely passed Final Selection by hiding for the entire week and surviving off tips from their older siblings. Nonetheless, they still want to contribute, which is why they hold onto a thick, leather bound book that records every demon they’ve ever met in precise detail, with labeled diagrams and scribbled calculations in the margins of different strengths and weaknesses.
After spending a few years on the job, and properly seeing their data contribute to the successes of other demon slayers, they’ve come a bit more into their own as a competent researcher and fighter, though they still do tend to request paired missions with friends and family to act more as a support role rather than a fighter.
The Ebisu family is one of scholars. The eldest daughter Kaoru is a doctor, and the eldest son Shougen is a chemist. By nature, fighting is not necessarily their strong suit, which is why their family breathing style and techniques are all poison-assisted. Of the three, Koharu is the weakest and most averse to combat— they wield a short half-length blade, with more of a smooth ceremonial hilt and sheath than any practical weapon.

Better character design and research skills#it’s a lot of fun thinking more about details when designing now#I.e. brushes are wildly impractical tools for writing on the go so koharu’s main choice of stationery is an imported fountain pen that cost#a decent amount of their savings#and they wanted their records to last longer so they also invested in a proper leather bound journal (also imported) rather than#a normal string bound book like their normal daily journal. this is also why the books open in different directions#in the event that their fountain pen breaks they Will Cry but they will also commit the details to memory and write them in with a bruh#with a brush after the battle ends

I had a few rough mental health days this week, but today I miraculously feel much better. I was like omg what changed.
Well. Today I also finished listening to the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes audiobook.
Spending hours each day in Coriolanus Snow’s head messed me up a bit💀

Among the holy quintet I think Kyoko would have the most tattoos and she’s the type that’s spontaneous about getting tattoos, she’ll see an image she likes and it’s her new tattoo idea. I like to think Sayaka has lyrics from songs she loves as tattoos.

I know my mutuals love physical media and I love that for them but honestly living in the streaming era is a miracle to me every day. Like right now I can listen to almost any song ever recorded on a whim and in any order I want only moving my phalanges to do so ?? That is genuinely mind boggling I’m sorry I like records too but sometimes you are lying the fuck down and the headphones are on and you can listen to ANYTHING.

Realism is fun till it isn’t and I realize I’ve already committed too far and can’t just scrap it but I know it will take me too long so here are some sacrifices you may see finished later on

Whenever I don’t draw comic pages for a while I’m like “god i have no clue how I used to do this and it’s gonna be frustrating and take me 20 billion years”. And then some night I’m just like “oh I want to try coloring something, lemme just flat this panel to see how it looks”. And then it’s suddenly 3 hours later and I’m rendering and I haven’t even noticed, and it’s like oh yeah. That’s how this gets done.
#like it’s a blessing and a curse because I have a hard time stopping deliberately#before the 12+ hour page level#but i forget how much muscle memory for these thing i’ve developed too#i just want to work on applying it deliberately and efficiently#i think i have been getting better at that but i find it harder with comic pages#both because i treat them as an effort sink#(as in the place to Go Hard if I want to Go Hard)#and because it’s so easy to kick certain artistic cans down the road with them#you can fix lineart illegibility with colors or color mismatches with rendering etc#i find simplifying and committing at the earlier stages hard#but i need more ways to make things faster when i have less time/energy rn#i do think i’m getting better at that but i do need to be like#conscious about it#complaining
