The Magnus Protocol thoughts/theories after listening to the first 2 episodes

Spoilers for all of TMA and the first episode of TMP

- The voices in the ‘Freddy’ system seem to have started happening in the tmp universe at the same time as the tma fire.

- Based on previous knowledge of files J_01 and M_01, I am assuming the other voice (Agustus) will be Jonah because of the file name J_02.

- The fire mentioned in the spelunking case sounds like the aftermath of the tma fire (Worm stains, files gone, etc.)

- OH MY GOD MARTIN JON MY GUYS PLEASE BE OKAY AAAAAAAAAA

- The first statement also seems to be symbolic of what happened to Martin and Jon. Only some of them is left I think :(

- Colin is up to SOMETHING he may have figured out the Jon Martin computerization

My current theory is that the web is the main entity at play here. While the eye would probably make more sense, in knowing the ritual at the end of TMA was the work of the web, I think that’s happening again. I think that when Jon and Martin abolished the fears in their universe, their link to the web brought them to a new world where the fears still existed. I think this is also why it’s only some of them. The fears part of them is gone. But it’s still Martin and Jon.

ALSO the sounds of a dvd whirrrr in the background make me think of advancing to the next age of technology. I don’t know a ton about this stuff but when I think of tapes I think of vhs tapes. The next thing was dvds. I think that’s maybe where their memories may be stored. And I think Colin the IT guy knows this

I’m so excited for this series and I keep coming up with new theories that I am ecstatic to finally work on :)

I’m still listening to episode 2 and I’ll have more theories to come.

Hmm I can’t speak for others but it’s Jason Issac’s voice for me, damn him for voicing Gortash so well *shakes fist* 😂 but in all seriousness, I think it’s the intrigue with his past for most people, his past/timeline is littered all over Act 3 and you can piece together how he came to be the Chosen of Bane and why he is the way he is. It’s tragic and enthralling all wrapped into one, it’s not really about his looks per say, more so the charisma and intellect that allowed him to rise to the position of Archduke from literally nothing, through all sorts of (mainly ruthless) means. It’s grotesque and fascinating all in one! He’s a horrid person, but there was always that whole “if he would’ve been treated kindly he would’ve been incredible” lurking in the back of peoples minds. The villains in BG3 are so three dimensional that you almost feel sorry for them and wish we could help like we do with our companions, but they’re all just too far gone by the time we meet them.

Also there’s the potential enemies to lovers trope for normal Tav, and forgotten my love trope for Durge.

That’s my thoughts on it anyway! TL;DR It starts off with fascination of the tragic backstory and turns into simping along the way with the help of the voice actor lol we hate ourselves for it TRUST. 😂

I definitely feel for him in a way regarding his backstory. I’m not sure if I got everything on my first playthrough, however, I am now playing as Durge and I suppose I am going to be getting a lot more information now?

This and other responses definitely have given me lots to think about and to appreciate the villains even more than I already had.

I completely agree with what you said about them being three dimensional. BG3/Larian Studios has really made some wonderful interesting characters and they/the writers deserve any and all praise or awards they receive.

Making some white turkey chili in a little bit and I’m honestly so excited

Bf and I are coming to a time of semi rest before he starts a new (full time!!) job at the start of the year but there’s still a lot of residual stress lingering around and I think we could def use some comfort food

And imho soups/stews/chilis are some of the easiest foods to transition to magic as well, so there’s definitely gonna be some of that in there too (especially because this is my first chance to bust out my giant stew pot since we moved in and there are few things that feel more like making potions to me)
