i’m not the biggest fan of its evos, but sprigatito’s a cutie and my character (unintentionally) matched it (sorta): i gave myself green eyes and pink hair, inverse of sprigatito being green and having pink eyes, and i chose the :3 mouth. i felt like i had to go with the weed cat.

Had to consult a pokemon list to check, and it looks like the answer is yeah! I like snakes/lizards irl, and there’s a bunch of great designs, particularly from gens 3-7 :3

I think I’ve made a connection between the popularity of the Neo Swords and the Fire/Fighting starters - Iron Leaves and Blaziken rarely if ever sweep polls (seriously make a poll between the Hoenn Starters and you’ll find Blaziken gets about 5% while the other two are super high) and Iron Crown and Infernape are basically considered the best thing to happen to the Future Paradox Pokémon/starters (I’ve seen posts calling Crown the best Future Paradox Pokémon, possibly forgetting Iron Valiant exists (I should make a poll about that, maybe throwing in Miraidon as well as Iron Moth just in case when the average Pokémon fan says that they exclude Miraidon and Iron Valiant - *laughs* the average Pokémon fan seems to see Iron Valiant as an honorary Past Paradox Pokémon in the same way I see Walking Wake as an honorary Future Paradox Pokémon. Personally I think a Walking Wake would be much more comfortable with the idea of “switching” Paradox sets) and as a Sinnoh Pokémon Infernape is always the winner of starter tournaments, even more than Torterra and Empoleon. I should feel sorry but I don’t like the Sinnoh trio so I feel sorry for Meganium, Typhlosion (mostly Hisuian), Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert, Samurott (mostly Hisuian), Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Decidueye, Incineroar, Primarina, Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon, Meowscarada and Quaquaval (I should make a poll on overrated Sinnoh Pokémon that sweeps polls Infernape vs Bidoof (I think it sweeps polls), Staraptor and Arceus Darkrai Giratina). There’s a pattern in the way the Neo Swords are given armour that makes it seem like robo Terrakion will have the same armour added in the same places and knowing the average Pokémon fan, they’re not gonna be too cool with it happening again, just like how they act with Emboar

We got a new Pokémon legends game!!! Are you excited for it?

We did!!! I saw it this morning! Honestly want to see more though because while I am excited, I’m getting excited off my expectations and speculations lol.

What will the starters be? Will they have new final evos like in PLA? Will they get new mega forms? Will we get new regional variants/evolutions/megas for pokemon? Which characters will get ancestors (or descendants, I’m seeing speculated time periods all over the place lol)?

Also way out there but I would love to see if the prototype synchro machine feature from SV is somehow utilized in this game too!! Seeing as it was a prototype and people say they often test out features in small versions for later games, I’ve been wondering if we’ll get a ‘better’ version of a prototype in the next mainline game, and that is PLZ-A right now.

Just very excited to see how this game will turn out and just how much it will borrow from PLA gameplay-wise as the second installment in the legends series. PLA is my babygirl and will be forever but I’m still interested in seeing how this one turns out!

I’m excited for however it turns out. BUT ONE THING THOUGH AS A SUBMAS FAN cause I’ve seen everyone mentioning their thoughts on this — I do not want to see Emmet in the game!! If he somehow does end up being in the game I’d be ok with it but I doubt he will, and I’d rather he not, honestly ^^;

Ok so I love my ice/grass rowlet designed a while back so much

Here it is for curious bystanders who have not seen it yet

So I think I eventually want to do the whole line and include it in my pokemon fan region! And that got me thinking of Legends Arceus which had a trio of random starters with regional variant final evos. So I think a trio would be fun! But dear wintery rowlet starts as a variant. So all three will have regional variants for every stage!

So the rules are, it keeps its core typing but adds/changes the secondary (Nomeran rowlet line will be grass/ice the whole line). They all have to be from different generations. Preferably not already have a regional variant.

My ideas for the other two?

For water, totodile! I’m a habitual water-starter-chooser (although the last few gens have had me swaying to the grass side) so it was a little hard to narrow this down. Totodile and mudkip are frequently vying for my favorite water starter spot. But my little gator I think deserves more love. And a dragon typing!

So I don’t have a full design idea yet, but I’m feeling a water/dragon line and perhaps basing it on a spinosaurus (I just really want a spinosaurus in my region ok? So what if it’s an African fossil and it’s a North American region). It’s not a fossil or anything but we’ve had plenty of pokemon vaguely based on dinosaurs/creatures so it works!

For fire, scorbunny! Ok fire was hard for the opposite reason of water. There’s never really been a fire starter that’s fully stolen my heart. Charmander is a classic. I love torchic and litten but the final evos are just, ok. Fennekin was pretty cool. So like, I like a lot of them but love? But then I was bouncing ideas with my husband and we figured out the perfect parallel.

Cinderace is a soccer player! A…. Football player! What’s more perfect for a North American regional variant than a soccer playing bunny going into an American football playing bunny?! I’m thinking this variant would be fire/fighting (gasp! I know, giving a starter fire/fighting that didn’t even have it) Design will be trickier I think, but bulking it out a lot more will help. Was also toying with ground or rock as the secondary typing, but fighting just seems to fit for American football so that’s what I’m thinking of.

Regarding the recent leaks of the Paldea starter evolutions:

I’m not mad at it? It’s true that I would have been happier if Sprigatito were to stay a quadruped (I saw a dandelion design that I loved, with a yellow mane on the middle evo and a fluffy white one on the final one) but the bipedal form I’ve seen doesn’t look like a Big Beefy Man and that was my main problem with the evolution of my chosen starters in the past two generations. I grew to love Incineroar, aka Darth Maul’s fursona, but it was not what I had in mind when I picked out a kitten. Rillaboom was more predictable I suppose, since it’s a primate, but still, not a fan of the look. It looks like Meowscarada, if I’ve got the name right, is more of a masked Puss in Boots kind of figure? And that’s pretty fun!

Idk if anyone even cares but here's my thoughts on the Gen 9 starters!

First off: they’re all really lovely designs, yes even Quaxly. Kudos to the artists! I’m in love with these beans!

Fuecoco: I’m a huge fan of 'mons that are creatures disguised as objects. Applin definitely comes to mind with this guy, and that’s my only complaint- why is the Fire-type 'mon based off an apple?

...actually hold on. hear me out here- doesn’t he look kinda like a chili pepper? That makes a lot more sense, I’d have to look up kinds of peppers but that might be the basis! Ok going off of that, he’s a Very Good Lad and I can’t wait to see the fiery alligator he evolves into :D

Sprigatito: Words do not express how much I adore this cat. Yes yes yes I know we have like 2 dozen cat 'mons already and i do not care

I am mostly indifferent to the quadripedal/bipedal debate, vaguely hoping the final evo will be quadripedal but I’m 90% sure they're gonna be bipedal. Not getting my hopes up.

Anyways I mostly just want 'em to have a flower theme going on, hopefully the national flower of either Spain or Portugal since that's where people think the region is based! I just think that the nice green of Sprigatito would mesh amazingly with either red carnations or with lavender ok

So I'd absolutely adore this guy to become something along the lines of Boatswan. A swan-like 'mon, with a sailor hat and probably coat, complete with a boatswain's call. I just think that would be SO neat! ....i may draw that when I’m off work

I thought I’d show off my Gholdengo to react to it (despite there being Pokemon in Paldea I haven’t done that for) if only because it’s a weird little dude and I kind of like him. He reminds me of the cheese string man or even an inflatable man.

And here we are - the final starter evo Skeledirge! I know this one’s kind of base-breaking and would I be able to say my opinion? Well my first thought was “Ah, so it’s Fuecoco who went reverse limbs, being on two feet until Skeledirge”. I think this is cool conceptually, and the colors are neat. Like I said - I like the Day of the Dead concept and I think the colors are neat. Though I’m more... neutral on this? Compared to the previous two, I don’t have much of a strong reaction. It’s fine - ghost typing is very cool though.

And now some misc stuff. A mailman fan and Mallory’s natural rival - Tsareenas who are jealous of their legs.

When the lighting works correctly Pokemon Violet is kind of a pretty game, even with the visible pixels, pop-in, and things in the distance moving at 2fps... still, the fact that it released in such an unpolished and buggy state is just a testament to how even a good game by pretty good developers can become a joke of a game when corporate heads make programmers and artists rush to meet arbitrary deadlines.

Gameplay-wise, it’s really fun! The battling could be a little faster, but then again, maybe I’m just used to PL:A’s battle pacing. Glad catching Pokemon is really quick now.

I’m also really liking the designs for most of the new Pokemon! The ball spider was really cute, and its evolution is pretty neat (though I wish it were still round). Spoiled myself on the starter evos (just them), and gotta say that I’m glad I went with Sprigatito.

For Sprigatito... If you were hoping it wasn’t going to stand on two legs then you FOOLS it was always going to become bipedal. At least it’s up front about this, standing up upon evolution to its second form, instead of pulling a Torracat and making you think that maybe this will be the one, the one who stays on all fours. Still, it has the coolest looking final evo, can’t wait to have it on my team.

Fuecoco’s second stage is... eh... it’s not bad, but it’s not great either. HOWEVER its final stage is FUCKING METAL AS FUCK HOLY SHIT. Fuecoco fans are in for a treat.

Quaxly’s stage two is pretty average, all things considered. As for the final evolution... I’m so sorry. Why did they do you dirty like this. They could have made it so cool. The themes they could have pulled from were endless! Instead they went for... well. You’ll see.

okay, so, let’s see if this cursed website will finally let me make a post about my thoughts on the scarlet and violet leaks now. gonna try and be as brief as i can because i’m still annoyed from typing this post out twice and losing it to the glitch earlier.

not really a big fan of any of the final starter evos at the moment. kinda bummed about it because SWSH was the first pokemon game ever where i purposely kept my starter in the second stage because i didn't like any of the finals, and it’s looking like this might be the second one--doesn't help that none of the first stages ever truly grew on me this time around either. the one that did grow on me the most was quaxly because of all the comparisons to donald duck and its final seems to a) have lost all of the donald duck vibes and b) be the one i like the least. HOWEVER i will admit that we’ve only seen sprites of both it and the middle evo and not proper in game images so i’ll wait to fully judge them until we can see it better. fuecoco’s is just sorta odd to me, i actually think it’s kinda cool but it doesn’t feel like a proper evolution of the middle stage imo and i think people who wanted fuecoco to stay goofy throughout its line may not be happy either?? sprigatito... well, i wanted a cool quadrupedal lynx but i knew in my heart that would never happen. however i saw several awesome fan concepts for a bipedal sprigatito evo that i would’ve liked and this one just sorta seems like delphox 2.0 although i admittedly like it better than delphox, i think. idk i guess i’m at least glad they didn’t do puss in boots for it since it seemed like most people only thought gamefreak would go that route because dreamworks made them think puss in boots is a spanish story in origin when it is not. also, it’s actually far less humanoid than i was expecting it to be. as i was typing this post the first time i realized that i actually do think i kinda like it, or at least i dislike it the least. maybe i will end up betraying quaxly to pick the grass kitty.

also i saw someone say the 3 starters have a circus theme but i... can’t... really see that right now?? like okay, sprigatito is a jester/magician, but fuecoco is supposedly “the singer pokemon” except i can’t remotely tell how it’s a singer or how that fits into a circus theme or what it’s supposed to be that would fit? its body shape just sorta makes it look like a pinata to me? and for quaxly’s evo, we just can’t hardly see what it looks like to begin with. all i can tell from the sprite is it seems to have a pirate hat and weirdly long legs, and we really need an in-game image before i can judge it properly. but anyway i just really hope me feeling so mixed about the starters isn’t a sign as to my feelings on the game lol, i wanna fully enjoy a new pokemon game again. on the bright side though, i’m very strongly considering getting some of these little guys on my team:

...oops this wasn’t really brief lol just way less well-structured and coherent than it was the first or second time i wrote it. but anyway. i really do hope at least one of the final evos manages to grow on me fully by the time the game comes out and if not that’s fine, i’ll probably just have a level 100 quaxly. ultimately it’s just the starter pokemon, it’s not a big deal, but i get attached to my starters and refuse to box them and i’m mostly just worried i’ll end up disliking SV since i disliked all of SWSH’s final evos for the starters for the first time ever and then also disliked the game. but i’m still very excited to be playing it with my friends!! also i love nacli's name, it's so clever for it being a rock salt pokemon.

About 2 and a half hours ago I saw a tweet from someone I (for some reason still) follow who has pretty much proven themself to be an anti-furry because they hate Delphox seemingly exclusively because they’ve seen it as a milf (as in they’ve seen it with big tits) which I think is pretty ironic given they’re a Primarina fan (admittedly, I checked two furry sites and both have less than half the number of Delphox results for Primarina - as in the number of results for Primarina is less than half the number of results for Delphox but there is still quite a bit for Primarina and at least it isn’t (probably - I’m not fact-checking this one) overshadowed by its teenager middle evo). Anyway, the actual tweet I’m talking about here is one where they quote tweeted an Official Pokémon Twitter account tweet talking about Quaxly to say that no one chose it and they even replied to one of their own replies to say that no one should choose it when there are two better alternatives (I’m just gonna say it, that hatred should be targeted at the ugly croc, not my beautiful gay duck) and it took over my mind for the next two and a half hours and I felt the need to rant about anti-furries

Also anyone notice how everyone was like “don’t make Sprigatito a sexy humanoid because the furries are gonna wanna fuck it” but the most humanoid of the Hisuian starters (Hisuian Decidueye) has the least amount of furry art out of its trio? Like you’re complaining that being humanoid gives them more furry art when a humanoid owl has just been out-porned by a quadrupedal grandpa otter. In fact, on one of the furry sites I checked, Hisuian Decidueye (5 results across 1 page) has less results than Iron Leaves (34 results across 3 pages - admittedly at least one of those results is just a shiny Virizion, not sure why it’s tagged with Iron Leaves), a quadrupedal robot who hasn’t even been around half the length of time that Hisuian Decidueye has been. For reference, it’s not because Hisuian Decidueye is a regional form, Hisuian Typhlosion has 226 results across 16 pages. Also on the other site (I only checked on that one because it meant I didn’t have to see the croc’s ugly face), Skeledirge has more results than Hisuian Decidueye (157 results to 101 results)

I heard that they have sucky designs so I’m a bit scared but also the “hardcore pokemon fans” said the same mean things about the hisui starter forms when they were revealed and I loved those, so maybe its just them being overly critical and afraid of new things again

non-starter wise hes stoutland bc stoutlands the big-hearted pokemon!! and an ouppy :) hes pretty balanced (shhhh ignore special attack ignore special attack) it can learn baby-doll eyes and helping hand. stoutlands also been regarded as a helper pokemon or simply a pet good with children and. that fits dream So so much :,) another option is quagsire simply for the smile (or ditto), and a green pokemon bc. green

pokemon nerd thots on gen 9 (87923789239 years late) under cut

i am SO glad i waited post-patch to play this gen. there is absolutely still lag & some minor annoyances, but looking at complaints made before the patch i haven’t encountered nearly as many issues. also i am nowhere near as picky as some other fans (genuinely don’t mean that in a rude way, we should absolutely expect better quality at launch). 

i thought PLA was gorgeous and i think paldea overall is too. expecting the graphics to look like breath of the wild is silly; that’s not the style. i think the pokemon, characters, and cities look AMAZING, and i personally like the grassy areas. however, i agree that the rocky/desert/snowy areas leave a lot to be desired.

but the actual gameplay & story is DELIGHTFUL. coming right off of PLA, it was definitely a bit of a re-adaptation, but once i got the hang of everything i was obsessed (still am- i’m following the “recommended” path & just finished the normal gym). i had i think 12 hours logged in-game before even setting foot in the school!! i’ll think that i explored an entire area but then run into an unbattled trainer somewhere or something. it feels expansive and wild and i love it so much 

im actually not crazy about terastallization but i don’t hate it or anything- i wish the animation was a bit shorter lol. 

the new pokemon i actually overall like; i think there’s a very different feel to the new designs of this gen & last but there are only a few that i’m super not into. i’m far from a genwunner, in fact i think that gen has some of the worst designs in the whole franchise, so you’ll rarely find me clutching my pearls over new pokemon designs. my only gripe is that i don’t like 2/3 of the final starter evos- the skeledirge line is GREAT, like so good to the point that quaquaval and meowscarada seem kind of like jokes?? bipedal is one thing (charizard and blastoise are bipedal!), but bipedal and SO WEIRDLY HUMANOID is another. i hate hate hate hate this trend and don’t know why they won’t stop??

literally just encountered iron treads so can’t speak much on the paradox pokes outside of design, but i feel the same as everyone else i think- future ones are pretty lame, the past ones are way cooler. alas i let my love of purple persuade me into getting violet because i’m 5 years old LMAO

there is A LOT of focus on sandwiches in the story. it is odd

anyway so far like 8.5/10??
