sleep had never come easy to you and tonight was no different. the sway of the ship should have lulled anyone to sleep. especially considering the exhaustion you felt after working in the sun all day. being a pirate was no joke, even if your crew enjoyed messing about most of the time. still, you began to feel antsy while lying there. so with a sigh, you haul yourself over the side of your bed. your feet recoil when they hit the floorboards. the cool and slightly damp wood sending a shock up your spine. forcing you to be fully awake. standing you grab your shawl that was resting on your nightstand next to you and wrap it around your shoulders. not bothering with shoes, you continue towards your door. it opens with a slight creak as you begin waking quietly through the hall.

you made your way up the few stairs leading to the main deck. the night breeze blows through your hair as you walk across to the side of the ship. the moon is standing full in the sky, surrounded by billions of tiny stars. you run your hand along the railing tracing the carvings on them. you feel content as you close your eyes and breath in the salty air. you open them again to look back out towards the sea. the glittering waves pull you in as you lean further onto the rails. you could probably fall over if you weren't careful.

a hand on your shoulder jolts you back to reality. turning, you see yunho standing there. sleep was still in his eyes and his is hair sticking up in every which way. "hey what are you doing up?", his voice was slightly scratchy but you could still hear a hint of concern. "I'm fine, I just couldn't sleep.", you hoped you'd be convincing enough for him to go back to his cabin but he only seemed to be more worried. his eyebrows furrowed as he turned you to face him. eyes searching yours as you stood silently waiting for him to say something. but instead he gently tugged your shawl closer to you and gave you a tentative smile.

yunho had always been kind to you. even when you first got there. you remembered it like it was yesterday, it was a few years ago after you had been caught by another crew and were being used to find some 'chromer'. you were angry and scared, lashing out at anyone and anything. he got the brunt of your anger after he and his crew saved you from that ship. they too were after said 'chromer' but told you that you could be free if you wanted but, you were also plenty welcome to join. at first, you didn't even consider staying with them. 8 strangers 8 pirates? you've had one too many bad experiences with the like. and you were itching to swim far-away from any sort of humans. but you were bound to stay due to the injuries you had sustained on your legs, which obviously you needed if you wanted to go anywhere.

be it by fate, destiny, or any other form of divine intervention you grew attached to the crew. sure it was bumpy at first, but after some time you fell into place with the lot of them. sometimes it felt like you were always meant to be there. at least according to wooyoung, you'd never admit it yourself even if you did feel that way too. said boy and you grew close rather quickly, his bright personality meshed well with your own and the rest was history. but yunho was different. you weren't sure why he had always seemed a bit hesitant to really befriend you. You'd seen him laugh and play with the others just fine, and even seen him buddy up quick to fellow tavern goers while you were at a rest stop. whatever it was, you tired not to let it bother you. despite the dull ache of your heart. even so, he was always checking up on you, making sure you felt included, helping you if you needed while training ect. but that really was the extent of it. he never joined in while you and the others would hang out. he always sat two or three seats away from you during dinner, even if it was just the two of you. you often wondered if maybe he just didn't care for you beyond that. beyond his naturally attentive and friendly nature. but something about the way your eyes would catch always told you other wise. and during times like tonight when you were alone, he'd take your hand and smile. nothing outrageous. but it still made your heart skip a beat and hope that maybe he did care for you more than he let on.
