Tony Stark fans, I feel like I've abandoned you. And I want to talk about it.
I've been a Marvel (mostly MCU) fan for roughly a decade now. First casual, then somewhere between casual and hardcore, and now it's been one of my top fandoms since around the time Black Panther and Infinity War came out. Tony/Iron Man has been the one I've called my fave for so long (since I saw Iron Man 3 in 2013; before that it was Cap) and have always stuck by that but lately I've been realizing how distant I feel from that side of the fandom and the content in general. Some of that was deliberate, because after awhile I realized I wanted to find PEACE with his MCU story rather than just complain about it, and a lot of others were still so stuck on their disappointment.
I would still read fics and stuff (still do at times!) but maybe because of the mixed feelings (projects like Endgame and some others have changed how I view certain earlier ones and find them more difficult to revisit now, both with Tony and other characters) I find myself not rewatching the content from that era a lot anymore. I did watch all 4 Avengers movies earlier this year but a few weeks ago my dad was watching Iron Man 3 on TV and I was so weirded out at how distant and almost alien it felt to me, and we're talking about the Iron Man trilogy movie I consider my favorite. I don't NOT like it, but the connection I used to feel was now more like "omg how could I have forgotten about xyz!" which made me feel like a fake fan.
So there's that and how I feel like I'm on a completely different wavelength from the rest of that side of the fandom. And I sort of know why. I've managed to make peace and move on, while a lot of them haven't. I know that's healthy, and normal for fandom, but what is kind of eating at me is that this feels different because I'm still very much in the Marvel community, just in a different way. Now, that was my plan for after Endgame, because I knew I wanted to cover this stuff "professionally" and liked the idea of being a bit more of a neutral party. (And I have been doing that, and it's been great!) But then the Loki show happened.
I won't go on about it but the Loki show did a lot of things which appealed to me specifically. (It even did some things I wanted them to do with Iron Man's story, which has given me some solace.) But man is it weird to feel more of a connection with the Loki side of the fandom right now than the Iron Man one; not like having the same mindset as the fandom because it's very divided and I know the show is a point of contention with a lot of people (believe me, as someone who was very much against a certain element of the show while it was airing and have now come around on it, I sympathize with a lot of different viewpoints), more like being more up-to-date with the goings-on and stuff. I get that it's part of my job since it's a current project, but yeah.
And I know this is the nature of fandom, and things will continue to change. (It's interesting because I can actually track my life in this way.) But this in particular feels weird because I'm still very much in the Marvel fandom, and it's interesting because after 5 years I would normally have a different "main" fandom by now (and I have had a few come, go, and come again) but thinking about it maybe I sort of do? Marvel is vast and does have a lot of subfandoms after all, so I guess I've just changed allegiances, except not really because Tony is dead and I'm just mostly focusing on more current stuff, but you know what I mean.
I guess because it really feels like I'm "betraying" the Iron Man fans, and that I "gave in" to Marvel and am still on the train when many others are not after what happened to him in the end, plus what happened in Spider-Man: No Way Home because the IronDad legacy and Spider-Man were what a lot of us were holding onto after Tony was gone. (That movie actually made me glad Tony died before the forgetting spell happened and I think that ending - even as is, without Tony forgetting - might have turned me off the MCU, at least for awhile, if I hadn't already been more attached to the Loki characters by that point.)
I'm interested (and kind of scared) to see how I'll look back on this in another 5 years. I'll probably be cringing in some way, like I do with every other fandom, or maybe even because of posts like this. Like I said in the intro, I really would love to talk about all this will people so I encourage anyone who has thoughts on any of this to message me about it!

5, 17, and 43 for the fic ask game!
[For the Fanfiction Writing Ask Game]
Three questions??? You spoil me! <3 I think I'll need a Read More for this one my friend xD
Hahaha! Ha! Ha.
Many. So, so many.
I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them, so I have a plethora scattered throughout my Google Docs files that are anywhere from multiple pages of unposted fic, all the way down to single-sentence unused prompts. Sometimes I left them behind because I lost motivation, sometimes my hyperfixation shifted and I (sadly) couldn't focus on that fandom anymore.
But let's see...uh....I glanced through my older stuff first just to see. But for now I think I'm just gonna count what I'm either actively working on, or what I wish to continue when my motivation returns...because if you counted all the abandoned WIP's I've gathered over the years, I think the number would be close to 30, and I don't want to list them all up here. (Maybe I'll drop it at the bottom of this post if you're curious***)
For one, I have two IronDad fics I plan on finishing: one that's a shorter Mafia AU that's 2/3 complete, and a much longer (and heftier) multi-chapter fic that has been awaiting a new chapter for over a year I think. A Little Late On The Blood Work my beloved...I'll come back when I get inspiration again 🥺💞 I also have an old Jacksepticeye Egos fic called #SamLives that I've been wanting to continue for ages but haven't, along with a Night at the Museum fic (Jedtavius) that I at least need to finish the current arc for because the comment section is sad.
And MOST recently I've got a bunch for Hermitcraft/Empires/Traffic Life that I'm in the process of actively writing...which I believe add up to a total of six?? I think? THREE are partially posted/being updated (Through a Crack in the Void, Domino Effect, There's Not a Word Yet), and the OTHER three (two Team Rancher, one that's literally Every Ship Under The Sun With Some Found Family On Top) aren't gonna be on my plate until I finish some of the other ones.
17. Do you have a writing routine?
Not really! Usually once I get an idea, I just - jump in. If I get stuck and want to skip something just to keep the writing ball rolling, I'll throw one of these in the middle of the page: ASDJNAKFBEKAJBA ...and just leave it for later. It's bold, red, and easy to spot when I'm scrolling through a long document, which is nice! It helps make sure no blank spots get missed in editing! (I also red-dye words, sentences, or paragraphs I'm feeling shaky on, so I can spot them easily and come back later when I get a better idea to fix it.) And if I decide to completely change a section I'm writing, I'll often copy the original version, paste it at the bottom of the doc in case I decide to change it back, and turn it a pastel color so I don't confuse old versions for the current text.
I also sometimes make calendars on Excel/Sheets if I really wanna keep track of time, and I often have a separate (and somewhat disorganized) doc for Notes on my longer fics. There's also a document where I write down potential lyrics options for There's Not a Word Yet chapter titles, but that's the only time I've done that for a fic.
43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet?
I feel like someone asked me this a while back, so I've definitely thought about this! But honestly? A mystery or a time-travel fix-it...which I am well aware are two VASTLY different tropes lmao.
I've always been envious and in awe of well-written mystery/detective stories, because so many little details go into them to make them work. I'd love to build one of my own someday, but I have yet to find the right motivation to do so.
As far as time-travel fix-its go...they're just...they're so fun to read, because I love to see how one little change can affect an entire timeline (see also: Domino Effect) but they're also a LOT of work to write because it involved basically retelling a story that's already been written but in your own words and with a twist. Somehow writing something fully original comes easier to me than trying to build my writing around something else that already exists. But god I'd love to have the motivation to write one of 'em anyway! It'd be fun to decide how everything changes all because of one little difference in choice :3
5. How many WIPs do you have?  What fandoms/pairings are they for?
Hahaha! Ha! Ha.
Many. So, so many.
I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them, so I have a plethora scattered throughout my Google Docs files that are anywhere from multiple pages of unposted fic, all the way down to single-sentence unused prompts. Sometimes I left them behind because I lost motivation, though most times my hyperfixation shifted and I (sadly) couldn't focus on that fandom anymore.
But let's see...uh....I glanced through my older stuff first just to check for this hah. But for now I think I'm just gonna count what I'm either actively working on, or what I wish to continue when my motivation returns...because if you counted all the abandoned WIP's I've gathered over the years, I think the number would be close to 30, and I don't want to list them all up here. (But I'll drop it at the bottom of this post if you're curious***)
For one, I have two Marvel/IronDad fics I plan on finishing: one that's a shorter Mafia AU that's 2/3 complete, and a much longer (and heftier) multi-chapter fic that has been awaiting a new chapter for over a year I think.
I think? THREE are partially posted/being updated (Through a Crack in the Void, Domino Effect, There's Not a Word Yet), and the OTHER three (two Team Rancher, and one that's literally Every Ship Under The Sun With Some Found Family On Top) aren't gonna be on my plate until I finish some of the other ones.
(One of them is a cute 5+1 one-shot about Tango calling Jimmy "buddy" and Jimmy learning that "buddy" has a lot of different meanings depending on how Tango says it and who he's saying it to. The second one is an extension of a one-shot I already posted called Coming, Coming Home, where S8 HASA!Tango crash-lands in the mesa outside Tumble Town, and like - yeah. Yeah. I'd love to continue that one. And the LAST one is a Double-Life-based Witches/Familiars AU that started as Renchanting Duo and has since extended to every member of the Life series and even some Hermits.)
***ALL THE OLDER FICS I HAVE YET TO COMPLETE: I've got one for Doctor Who, a handful for JSE Egos - #SamLives - one for Night at the Museum, one for Encanto. Six for Marvel/IronDad (including a Mafia fic, a SPN AU, a Peter-gets-shot and Tony-goes-dad-mode hurt/comfort, and A Little Late On the Blood Work which as I said I'm just longing to get inspiration to return to). A witch/familiar Supernatural AU fic and an SPN time travel fix-it that I barely started. There's a TangoTek one-shot I've abandoned featuring his rage moments from both LL and DL. I also have an old fic from high school for a game called Ib that I'd love to revamp someday...and my Original FanFic that started it all, which was for Harry Potter, and I was like 12, and it will never EVER see the light of day. My god. It's...it's rough.

Marvel Fanfiction Rec List Part 2
Here's the part 2 to my Marvel Fanfiction Rec List!
The Spider-Man Conspiracy
By: TempestAurora
https://archiveofourown.org/works/16065365
Summary: "My name is Peter Parker, and with the help of my friends, Ned Leeds, Harley Keener, and my Aunt May, who provided me with a lot of red yarn for this project, are going to uncover the identity of Spider-Man."
My Comments: So I have to say that I love this fic so much. The format that it's in is really interesting. Overall I highly recommend it. It's part of a series, so the link to the two sequels are down below. I got to admit that I would love to see Marvel actually make this.
Status: Complete
Length (Whole Series): 13,531 words
Series: https://archiveofourown.org/series/1140002
Sequels: The Peter Parker Conspiracy --- https://archiveofourown.org/works/16073411

The Guardian
By: Emily_F6
https://archiveofourown.org/works/14428818/chapters/33325374
Summary: When a terrible accident claims the life of May Parker, Tony Stark steps up as Peter's guardian. But it's not just a traumatized super-teen he'll have to worry about when he receives a transmission from Thor.
My Comments: So I've read a few of these types of Spider-Man fics, and I have to say that this one is my favorite. I really love how it shows the dynamics Peter has with all the superheroes. Not to mention plenty of IronDad and SpiderSon in it as well. I also love how it shows Peter’s grief from losing Aunt May too. Too many of these fics just sort of sweep under the rug, or only dedicate one chapter to it. I like this one, how it shows how slowly you actually recover from something like this. I highly recommend giving this one a read!

Don't Leave Me Hanging
By: Bilgegungorenoo
https://archiveofourown.org/works/20072437/chapters/47538742
Summary: Peter Parker loses his aunt and uncle during the Battle of New York, and with them the only family he has left. Moreover, his powers are discovered, and now someone is after him, which forces him into hiding. However, after months of living on the streets, Peter decides to go to the one person who he idolized for years, and who he thinks is the only one that can help with the situation. Tony Stark.
My Comments: Really, really adorable fic. It's a really nice fic about Peter and Tony, and a great one to read when you're upset. Not to mention the plotline is really interesting as well.

Sins of the Father
By: AvocadoLove
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4638750
Summary: Tony's practically become an old hat at being taken hostage, but something's fishier than usual this time around: his captor looks twenty-eight but claims to know Howard Stark, the NYPD negotiator is a SHIELD plant, and what's this about a fleet of helicarriers set to launch?
My Comments: I've lately been reading a lot of Avocado Love's work lately. And I found this little gem. This was a pretty good read and I found that I really like the concept of it. I would highly recommend it!!!
Status: Complete
Length: 11,196 words
Tempest in a Teapot
By: AvocadoLove
https://archiveofourown.org/works/1167506/chapters/2374679
Summary: Or, how Bucky watches his best friend die in his place, wakes up seventy years in the future, takes up Captain America's shield, joins a group of super heroes, and finally begins the process of forgiving himself.
My Comments: God do I love this fic!! This fic is basically Steve falling instead of Bucky, which I know there are a lot of, but I think that Avocado Love pulled it off the best. Mainly because it doesn't just follow the movies, it sort of deviates a bit from them. The only movie it kind of follows it the first Avengers movie, then it sort of takes off on it's own, which I found I really liked. This fic did finish on a bit of a cliff hanger, which Avocado Love does a lot. And I do wish there was a sequel to it, but I doubt it. This fic is cross-posted on ff.net, so I'll link that down below.

I'm Here
By: iLoVsuperman
https://archiveofourown.org/works/21049925/chapters/50071811
Summary: In a world where soulmates shared their dreams as they slept, Steve never shared a single dream with his soulmate. He died when his plane crashed into the Arctic, never meeting the person fated to be his other half. But that was not the true tragedy. Because somehow he was able to dream with his soulmate, years later, despite being dead. It was both a blessing and a curse.
My Comments: This is a pretty great fic, and definitely my favorite soulmate!AU in the MCU fandom. I’ve read a couple of fics with this concept, but none of them really pull it off as well as this one. I really love how they tie in the events of Tony’s life in this and with Steve being “dead.” I also love the romance between Tony and Steve too. Anyway I highly recommend this fic, trust me you won’t regret it.

The Other Man Out of Time
By: Sara_Holmes
https://archiveofourown.org/works/6004771/chapters/13791244
Summary: Due to the Time Stone having a great day screwing around the fabric of reality, Clint finds a copy of himself thrown back into Normandy, 1944. Cue Clint 2.0 meeting Bucky Barnes, the Howling Commandos, and a pretty different version of Steve.
My Comments: So this is a pretty awesome fic. I really enjoyed the concept of it. And you all know that I love anything that includes time travel. The pairing in this is Bucky/Clint, and the author actually pulls it off. This is a ship that I never knew I needed. This was written around the time that Age of Ultron came out, so anything that came out after that isn't relevant. Also the timeline is a bit different and though this takes place before CA;TWS, Wanda and Pietro are still in it. The author's note explains this all better. Anyway, I highly recommend this fic!!! I promise you that you will love it!!
Status: Complete
Length: 97,310 words
To Infinity, One Step at a Time
By: DoctorWhiteFox
https://archiveofourown.org/works/37754521
Summary: It’s too late, Stephen knows, as soon as he hears the stars screaming. His universe is collapsing, and none of his spells can do anything at this point. But it’s not the end. Stephen Strange wakes up in his scrubs on the floor of a surgery room. Tony Stark wakes up in his workshop at Avengers Tower, held in the arms of an old Iron Man armor. Peter Parker wakes up tangled in the sheets of a bunk bed he hadn’t seen in weeks. The day is 21st September, 2014. The universe holds its breath as three time-displaced souls regain their bearings. Ahead of them, their past awaits.
My Comments: The summary is kind of vague, but the basic premise is Tony, Strange, and Peter get sent back to the past by the time stone. Strange and Peter are both from No Way Home, Tony is from the end of Endgame. This fic mainly centers around Strange, which is kind of refreshing.  I have to say that I really like this fic, it’s no secret that I am obsessed with time travel fics. And the friendship between Stephen, Tony, and Peter is great!!Anyway this is a great fic, and I highly recommend it!!

Just a Blast From the Past
By: InNeedOfInspiration
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4865342
Summary: Natasha watches Steve die and decides to use a time travel device from Asgard to go back in 1942 and prevent Bucky from turning into the Winter Soldier. Forbidden to meddle with the past because it could affect the future, she changes her appearance and introduces herself under a false identity. But as they grow close, Natasha finds it harder and harder to resist the charm of Steve from 1942.
My Comments: I absolutely love this fic. I discovered this fic a few years back, I think around the time Civil War was coming out. For the record this is a Romanogers fic, and this is the fic that got me into that ship in the first place. I also love how they show how different it is for women in the 1940s than it is today. I also love Bucky’s and Natasha’s relationship. There is a sequel that is about Steve from that timeline and discovering a woman that looks exactly like “Natalie” and what it’s like having Bucky there during the first Avengers movie. This fic is cross posted on both ff.net and Wattpad, so I’ll link both down below.

If They Knew All About You
By: MsHermia
https://archiveofourown.org/works/16757809/chapters/39316843
Summary: Tony Stark had lost his son when he was only 2 years old, stolen away in broad daylight with nobody the wiser of what exactly happened. Years later, Tony has just made it through the disaster with Ultron. He is trying to keep himself and the team together but relationships are strained and tempers are running high. Then a random turn of events leads to his path crossing with that of a particular vigilante. They are strangers to each other, or so they think. Meanwhile Peter Parker is on top of the world. After a few shitty years, losing his parents and then losing his Uncle, things are finally looking up. Sure he lives in a crappy little apartment with his Aunt, but he might have just found his mission in life.
My Comments: This fic sat in by tbr for years, and when I finally read it I couldn’t believe I waited this long. It’s over 500 thousand words and I just blew through it in a day. I can’t recommend this fic enough. It’s set during Civil War, which is what made me wait so long to read it, but I really like how it went over the events, and I liked how the beginning of this fic sort of set it up. Also all the Irondad and Spiderson was just to die for. I loved both Peter and Tony’s relationship, and I liked how it went over Tony and Peppers as well. I didn’t really like Steve in this fic, but I can see why he was written that way, and I do think it worked for this fic. I highly recommend this fic!! This fic is cross posted on ff.net, so like always, I’ll link that down below.

All the Leaves are Brown (And the Sky is Gray)
By: AvocadoLove
https://archiveofourown.org/works/1609838
Summary: The Winter Soldier’s mission is nearly complete. Howard and Maria Stark are dead, leaving him to dispatch their four-year-old child. One quick twist of the neck is all it will take, but the Soldier finds he cannot do it. So instead of killing Tony Stark, the Winter Soldier takes him away to raise as his own.
My Comments: This was the first Bucky-Raises-Tony fic I read. This is an AU that I would have never thought of, and didn’t realize how much I needed it! I highly recommend this fic, it is just amazing. I love Bucky and Tony’s relationship, and the ending is just awesome. Highly recommend this fic! This fic is cross-posted on ff.net as well. And has also been translated into Russian, Korean, and Chinese. There’s also a podfic for it, and some fanart. Not to mention the fan made sequel. I will link it all down below.

By: TempestAurora
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17105591
Summary: Peter was just swinging over to the tower to have dinner with Mr. Stark and Aunt May, when an... anomaly appeared. An anomaly wearing blue ballet flats and has powers like his.
My Comments: So I wrote the summary above myself, since the fic's actual summary was a scene taken directly from the fic itself. I really love this work though and I highly recommend reading it. I've read quite a few Spider-Verse/MCU crossover fics, and this is the best one I've found. Highly recommend it. Tempest also managed to work in the Tobey MaGuire Spider-Man, and the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man as well.

It Runs in the Family
By: Dettiot
https://archiveofourown.org/works/3855727/chapters/8609950
Summary: Felicity Stark is the best of her parents. But becoming vice president of a brand new division of Stark Industries and moving to Starling City will test her in ways she never thought possible. Especially when a masked vigilante in green leather crosses her path.
My Comments: This has to be one of my favorite Arrow crossovers. I find that they really nail all of the Marvel and Arrow characters. I also love how they showed Felicity's relationship with Pepper and Tony. I highly recommend reading this fanfic. Trust me you will love it!!! Also there are two sequels, but instead of linking both in, I'm just going to link the series down below. Also this fic is cross-posted on ff.net, so I'll link that down below as well.

Hello! So, a lot of your artwork has been showing up on my dash lately, specifically irondad and spiderson ones mainly. And I just wanted to drop you a line to say how amazing your artwork is; so realistic and full of emotion. Also, strangely, I've found that a handful of the ones I've seen connect really well to the frostiron&spiderson fics I write, which just gives me a little kick. Anyway, your art is wonderful, and I'm glad to see it. Take care!
Hi! Thank you so much! *hugs you tight*. I would love to read your story when it's finished. And maybe I will draw some scene from it too 🙂
