He-man.org will close in 5 days.
He-man.org has been a staple of the Masters of the Universe community since the early days, originating as an email list that worked to document episodes before anything (not footage, not lists, nothing) was available online. It grew into a sprawling, multi-faceted beast of a thing, including an encyclopedia (an in-house wiki), merch lists, a marketplace, forums, anything you could think of.
Several years ago now, the main site went down for updates/maintenance. For a few weeks, we were told, maybe months. The forums remained open for fans to communicate, and barring a period of downtime earlier this year things were going smoothly.
Yesterday, the owner of the site, Val Staples, announced the site would be closed on November 14th, 2023. Six days later. We are currently attempting to contact him, to see if he’s interested in selling, and if he means closed as in “no new posts” or closed as in deleted entirely. Regardless of its eventual fate, the archiving of these forums is essential to preserving the history of the franchise, the fandom, and the brand.
Tumblr media
TO SHE-RA (and MotU) FANS SPECIFICALLY: I have personally used these forums to answer questions that could be answered nowhere else. Had I not had access to them, I would never have been able to prove that Purrsia was fake, or found so much unpublished concept art, or discovered that Scott “Toyguru” Neitlich personally wrote Catra’s MOTUC bio (even if he’s put off answering my questions about it for over a year now). Forum members have conducted interviews with the likes of Jon Seisa, Cathy Larson, Janice Varney-Hamlin—essential figures in the very foundations of POP, and those interviews revealed and recorded priceless information for future generations (me! you! us!) to find. Did you know Cathy Larson named Adora? That she originally pushed for “Dorian”, after her own daughter? We cannot let this treasure trove disappear into the ether(ia).
TO THE UNAFFILIATED: Please help. Pretty please. If you’ve ever liked my art or my writing or my haphazard blogging, ever, at all, consider archiving just one board. Just one page. Literally anything helps. I am spiraling into madness & this is my library of Alexandria. The mythical one that was totally unique and persevered nowhere else and was destroyed in a single cataclysmic event. Pretty pretty please help.
HOW TO HELP:
Archive.org has several ways to upload shit but most of them are longer term than “a few days” so we’re focusing on two (which can be run simultaneously): Save Page Now, and browser extensions. From their help page:
1. Save Page Now
Put a URL into the form, press the button, and we save the page. You will instantly have a permanent URL for your page. Please note, this method only saves a single page, not the whole site.
Tumblr media
We want to keep outlinks and screenshots wherever possible. The Archive does not keep your IP address, so your submission is anonymous.
2. Browser extensions and add-ons
Install the Wayback Machine Chrome extension in your browser. Go to a page you want to archive, click the icon in your toolbar, and select Save Page Now. We will save the page and give you a permanent URL.
Tumblr media
One plus to installing the extension is that as you surf around, when you run into a missing page they will alert you if we have a saved copy.
More extensions, apps, and add-ons:
Firefox add-on
Safari Extension
iOS app
Android app
I strongly encourage you to use these tools even if you aren’t helping with this project/after it ends. Documenting and preserving information is essential in this day and age & The Internet Archive is at the heart of it. Please support them however you can.
I’m serious about paying you, though I may need more communication with folks I don’t know so we can coordinate/verify shit gets done. I think this is a worthwhile pursuit in itself but I recognize your time is valuable & like, people gotta eat. DM me if you’re interested and we’ll talk. I may need to adjust pay depending how many people bite but I’ll do what I can

**********
You wake up tangled in a mess of sheets, warmth, and sin.
That’s the only way to describe it. Sin.
It's not even seven in the morning, and already your body is reminding you what went down last night. Your thighs are sore, your back carries a dull, pleasant ache, and there’s a love bite high on your inner thigh that stings just enough to make you wince a little.
That'll make yoga tomorrow interesting.
The room smells like bergamot and skin and something heavier—sweat, maybe. Or desire that still lingers in the air like an aftershock.
It's quiet except for the hum of the city in the distance, softened by thick curtains drawn half-shut. Morning light filters through in warm stripes, dancing across the hardwood floor and catching on your skin in soft gold. You blink against it, lashes fluttering against a pillow that doesn’t smell like yours. The sheets don’t either. They smell like him.
You shift slightly, just enough to feel the solid weight behind you. An arm is slung around your waist, loose but possessive. His chest is warm against your back, steady breaths brushing the nape of your neck. You can hear the faint rustle of the comforter as he stirs, but he doesn’t wake—not fully. He pulls you in tighter, like you’re his anchor to sleep, his grip reflexive and familiar.
You don’t move. Not yet.
There’s a part of you that doesn’t want to break this moment.
For once, you’ve forgotten about the twelve unread emails, the press conference at noon, the editor breathing down your neck, and the interview notes scattered on your kitchen table. For once, you don’t feel like a journalist, like a woman constantly trying to prove she deserves to be in every room she walks into. You feel… human. Soft. Safe.
You feel his fingers brush against your stomach in a lazy half-dreaming caress, and a smile tugs at your lips before you even realize it. One of those stupid, full, cheeks-aching smiles you try to hide but never manage to around him.
“You awake?” you whisper, voice still hoarse with sleep. Your throat feels dry, but you can’t bring yourself to care.
A low grunt rumbles against your back. “Non,” comes the groggy reply, muffled by the pillow. His lips press lazily to your shoulder. “Sleeping.”
“That wasn’t an answer.”
“It was a ‘come back to sleep with me,’” he murmurs, lips grazing your skin again. His accent is thicker in the mornings, wrapped in gravel and honey.
You roll your eyes, but there’s no heat behind it. "You know I’ve got work, right?”
He lets out a dramatic sigh like you just told him the world’s ending. Then, without warning, he flips you onto your back with zero effort, his arm slipping under your waist as he settles half on top of you. You yelp, more out of surprise than anything else, but your body immediately molds to his, the way it always does. His weight is solid, grounding. Familiar.
“William,” you warn, voice breathy now, mostly because his lips are trailing slow, sleepy kisses up the side of your neck. “Seriously.”
"You’re warm,” he mumbles, like it’s an argument he’s already won.
“I’m also late.”
“Je m'en fous.” His hand moves down your side, fingers splayed wide. “You can email them. Say there was traffic.”
You snort. “Traffic where, sir? In your apartment?”
He lifts his head to look at you, one brow raised. “Exactly. Bedroom traffic. You got caught in a collision.”
You blink at him. “You mean you ran me off the road last night?"
His grin is smug. “I don’t hear you complaining.”
You try to glare at him, but it’s hard when his palm is cupping your thigh, thumb lazily brushing over that now very sensitive love bite.
“This is harassment,” you mumble, squirming as you try to wriggle away. But he just chuckles, dips his head to kiss your collarbone, then your sternum. The kisses aren’t rushed. If anything, they’re slow on purpose. He knows exactly what he’s doing.
“You say that like you didn’t try to climb me like a tree last night.”
You shove at his shoulder, laughing despite yourself. “I did not.”
“Bébé,” he says, pulling back just enough to give you a look. “You told me, and I quote, ‘You’re six foot three for a reason; now put it to use.’”
Your hand flies to your face, heat flooding your cheeks. “Shut up.”
William grins, clearly pleased with himself. He kisses your forehead this time, surprisingly sweet. “You were cute. Bossy. A little mean.”
“You love it.”
“I do,” he says, no hesitation. “And you love me being clingy in the morning.”
You pause for a beat, heart stuttering a little. He doesn’t seem to notice the shift in the air—maybe because he’s too busy burying his face into the curve of your neck again, or maybe because he does it without thinking. Like saying he loves you isn’t even a question anymore.
You bite your lip. “I do, but I really do have to go.”
With a sigh that sounds like the end of the world, he finally rolls off of you, flopping onto his back like he just gave up his life’s mission. “Fine. Go be an adult.”
You wrap the sheet around your body like a toga as you slip out of bed, glancing over your shoulder with a soft smile. “I’ll come back later.”
“T'as intérêt.”
//// A little amuse-bouche of the smut ////
You clutch at the sheets, your legs falling open as he ducks his head. His lips close around your nipple and you cry out, arching your back off the bed. His tongue slides over your skin, sucking you into his mouth, his hand cupping and squeezing you in a way that sends bolts of pleasure through your whole body.
"Fuck," you whisper, feeling his stubble against your skin as he kisses lower. His hands are on your hips now, squeezing, kneading, urging you to lift your hips up toward him.
When you feel his breath against your panty-covered mound, you stop breathing.
He doesn't tease now. No. His hands part your thighs, and he yanks your panties off in one quick tug.
And then his mouth is on you, hot and slick and messy, his lips pressing soft, loving kisses on the soft skin of your inner thighs, close to where you're aching for him, wet, leaking but not enough—
"Will," you gasp, trying to buck up into his mouth to get him where you need him. "Please."
His hands grip your hips and pin you down, keeping you still as his tongue slides up between your folds. You're gasping, your hips fighting his grip, trying to get him closer, but he holds tight, his tongue dragging up your center, back down again, light and teasing. You're dripping now, your folds slick with your arousal.
"Will, baby," you whine. "Pleeease—"
And then he's there. Right there.
You arch off the bed the moment his lips wrap around your aching, swollen clit. His tongue flicks once, twice, and you lose it, eyes rolling to the back of your head as you cry out for more. No words coming out, just moans and cries, your fingers sliding through his hair to grip his head and pull him closer.
"Taste so fucking good, baby," he growls, pulling back to press open-mouthed kisses on your inner thighs. "Can't get enough—"
He spears his tongue inside you then, licking up through your folds, and you let out a scream, your hips jerking off the bed again. But he's not letting go, holding you in place with strong arms as he fucks into you with his tongue.
He pulls away for a second and your breath catches at the look on his face. He's staring at your wet, swollen pussy with a look of ravenous need, his breath coming hard, his fingers gripping your hips almost brutally, as if he’s losing control.
You feel his fingers on your pussy, and before you can register what he's doing, he’s pushing them inside you, so fucking easy with how soaking wet you are. His mouth finds your clit again, lips closing around it as he pulls it into his mouth, sucking, and his fingers are fucking into you, in and out, a slow curl in his knuckles. You can feel your climax approaching.
His hands grip your thighs tighter. "T'aime ça?" He murmurs against your clit, looking up at you. The sight of him there, his mouth against your wet pussy, his eyes heavy-lidded with lust—your vision starts to blur at the edges.
"Yes, yes, fuck," you whimper.
He groans deep in his throat and picks up the pace of his fingers, fucking into you faster and harder while his tongue dances around your clit in tight circles. You can't breathe. You're clutching at the sheets like they're going to keep you from flying off the bed, your legs tensing and relaxing against the mattress. Your stomach starts to clench, and your thighs start to shake.
"Will—" you gasp. "I—" You don't get to say anything more. You just shatter. Shatter apart on a scream of his name, your vision going dark at the edges, your body tightening and convulsing on his fingers. You're shaking so hard, your teeth chatter as you come and come and come.
His mouth slows, tongue sliding through your wetness as he keeps you riding your orgasm as long as possible.
When he pulls away, you're still shaking, legs still tensed, still twitching. His fingers slide out of you slowly with a wet squelch, and you feel him crawling up the bed beside you, turning your head to rest on his chest.
Your lips press a kiss to his skin as he slides an arm underneath you, holding you close.
"Okay?" He murmurs softly, rubbing circles on your back.
You nod. Your face feels hot, like you're burning up, and you can’t find the words to describe how you're feeling. It's like he's broken you apart and put you back together again. Everything feels different. Lighter.
Will just hums, kisses the top of your head, and keeps rubbing your back.
It takes a second before you realize he’s still hard. Rock-hard and straining against his pants.
"Baby," he laughs, reading your expression. "You're still shaking. Let's take a second to recover, yeah?" he teases. "I'm not going anywhere."
You flush, biting your lip. "Sorry—"
"Don’t apologize, it's okay," he says, stroking your hair back. "Take your time, chérie. You need it."
You nod and relax into his chest.
But a second later, you're squirming, feeling him against your thigh and the burn of lust reignites between your legs
"Will," your voice is husky.
"Yes?" His tone is indulgent.
You shift your hips again. "I want it."

TBOSAS on Crack short take (49)
*When the Mentors lied about their Tributes’ skills on LIVE TV*
Lepidus: Welcome back to the ✨Table Talk✨! I’m your host, Lepidus Malmsey-
Casca: Booooo!
Lepidus: Ugh. Who let Highbottom sit with the audience again?
Felix: Just ignore him.
Lepidus: And why does your school want me to do another round of interviews?
Vipsania: To gain more sponsors-
Gaius: For money.
Hilarius: We love money.
Coryo: I need money.
Sejanus: To proclaim my undying love to my Coryo-
Coryo: Not now, Babe.
Sejanus: But-
Coryo: I’ll give you a kiss if you shut up.
Sejanus: Can you kiss me now-
Casca: Booooo! Get a room-
Felix: Back to you, Malmsey!
Lepidus: Um- okay. So here we are again with our favorite Mentors-
Festus: Yo, Leppy! Leppy, why do I have to wear this stupid paper bag?
Lepidus: It’s Lepidus.😑 And your Class President was the one who asked me to cover your face.
Festus: Why?!😫
Felix: Creed, just wear the bag.
Coryo: That’s what you get after you forced us to bail you out from juvenile jail, Bestie~.😊
Festus: I did nothing wrong-
Coryo: You trespassed and dumpster dived on private property.
Festus: I did not!
Felix: The President of Panem would disagree.
Festus: But I’m not even a fugitive!
Lysistrata: Not yet~.☺️
Festus: But-
Felix: Lepidus, please continue.
Lepidus: So my first question is for-
Livia: Just spit it out, Leppy. We don’t have all day.🙄
Juno: Yeah~. I even have an important appointment with my chiropractor after this.
Lepidus: Fine.😞 What are your Tribute’s strengths and weaknesses?
Livia: Excuse me?! Weaknesses?! That’s incorrect. My new bestie from ✨District One✨ doesn’t have weaknesses.🙄💅
Lepidus: That’s impossible-
Livia: Facet with his tasset can even stop a freaking bullet just by looking at it.
Lepidus: That’s a lie-
Livia: I’ve seen him do it before, Leppy~.
Palmyra: Just one bullet? That’s so lame, Livia. Velvereen the Wolverine can melt bullets and spit acid.😌
Vipsania: Ha! Both of your Tributes are nothing compared to mine. My Tribute, Treech the Leech can suck your blood out in seconds.
Pup: Well, my Tribute, Lamina with her stamina can drown anyone with just her salty tears.
Apollo: Bro, shut up. My Tribute, Otto from the Grotto can kill a grown man with just one punch.
Diana: Just one punch? My Tribute, Ginnee Houdini can turn you all into dust-
Juno: That’s so unoriginal, Ring. My Tribute, Bobby-
Hilarius: Bobbin.
Juno: Bobby Corn Poppy can lift a thousand grown grizzly bears with just one arm!
Hilarius: But my Wovey with just one knee can make you run for your money!
Gaius: You be lying, Hilari! My Tribute, Panlo with his hands low can kick all of your asses!
Androcles: That’s all you’ve got, bro?! My Tribute, Sheaf the Chief can strangle you with her eyes!
Io: Andie, stop with your nonsense! My Tribute, Circ with his quirk can fly you to the moon and back!
Urban: That’s all?! My Teslee from Mississippi can break a giant’s neck with her thighs!
Persephone: Do better, Urban! My Mizzen The Gremlin can break your bones with just using his zen!
Festus: Lol. My Tribute, Coral No Morals can knock you all out with just her profanities!
Dennis: Creed, sit down! My Hy So High can fly faster than a fly!
Iphigenia: Suck it, Dennis! Sol Aerosol can burn you all with just her sweat!
Domitia: Lame! My Tanner with a hanger moves faster than a spider!
Arachne: That’s just so and so! My Tribute, Brandy Sharp Candy will slice you to bits!
Clemensia: Little Crane is just jealous because Reaper The Sweeper has the strength of a thousand wild zebras.
Felix: And Dill with the drill has the agility of an eel!
Florus: Boring! My Tribute, Sabyn So Keen has the eyes of an eagle, speed of a cheetah, and the strength of a thousand flamingos!
Sejanus: But they won’t stand a chance against my friend, Marcus Spartacus!
Lysistrata: Wrong! My Tribute, Jessup with his getup will crush Marcus Spartacus like a bug!
Coryo: But they will all surrender to Lucy Gray and her army of Mockingjays!
Everyone:. . .
Festus: What’s a mockingjay?
Lepidus: What the duck and buck are you guys even saying?!😫
*Meanwhile, at the Zoo*
Lucy Gray: Sheaf the Chief-
Sheaf: Don’t even start, Baird.
Lucy Gray: But-
Sheaf: Do you want me to strangle you with my eyes?
Lucy Gray: Nevermind.😞

I’m 99% sure the debut of Showtime will be international alongside an interview or anything else that comes with it. I just looked into it and all you need to do is download the BBC Sounds app and make an account or play it through their computer web player (iOS and android seem to have issues sometimes). I’d recommend making an account beforehand in case something goes awry last minute. Longshot was debuted internationally from what I remember so I really don’t see it being restricted only to the UK. They know they have international fans dying for music.
For reference:

- LA anon. Hope you’re well ahhh new music!!!!!!

Oh, this makes me happy! Thanks everyone and @howlove-hasbeen for your help. 🥰 I thought it was like R&L 2021…I heard that one was complicated so I didn’t even try. I think it’s this website, right? Gonna try this and hope it doesn’t fail as I hate making so many accounts. 🙈
I’m excited for Thursday. Everyone from around the world will be tuning in and we’ll collectively celebrate. This coming from someone whose friends don’t listen to CATB so big love to all of you! 🥰❤️

📁 Interview 004: "Voicebank configuration on MacOS." ft. chevrefee
Tumblr media
Today's topic is something we've covered on this blog before in my voicebank configuration tutorial series! In my tutorial series we go over the basics of configuring your first CV-VV voicebank on MacOS. After practicing the fundamentals, you can explore other configuration types for UTAU. Our guest with us today is Chevrefee who specializes in C+V English voice banks! There are many ways to record an English voicebank. This format is more compact than the standard VCCV English configuration, which is daunting for most users. If you are interested in configuring an English UTAU, Chevrefee has a detailed tutorial on their C+V method, I will link that below if you would like to read more about it.
Q. To start off this interview, please introduce yourself and your work!
Chev: With pleasure, I'm Chevrefee, an animator and creator for UTAUs Ceta and Veria! People might know me best for my C+V English voicebanks and tutorial, since I've been dedicating a lot of time to promote the format.
Your materials on C+V English are incredible! I have watched through your tutorial on it and would love to make a voicebank some day! In today's interview, we will be discussing this subject more.
Q. For our first question, how long have you been doing UTAU for?
Chev: Thank you for your enthusiasm!! I've only been doing UTAU for only a little more than a year, but I have been using other vocal synthesizers for 2 years at this point!
Ah really? That's really impressive as you know so much already!! UTAU is a very expansive format as its very customizable.
Q. What other synthesizers do you have experience in?
Chev: I mostly used Synthesizer V prior to using UTAU! I loved creating designs for the mascot-less voicebanks and I realized that I loved that customizable aspect of it, so moving on to creating UTAUs was somewhat expected.
Ah! I went through your website and was looking through your SynthesizerV designs, I love them so much!! It's nice having a face to attach to the character's voice, my favorite out of them would be Ryo as I love characters with glasses.
Q. Returning UTAU, before we discuss anything on voicebank creation, I am curious to hear what your workflow on MacOS is like! I want to share the process with the audience so its not from my own experience.
Chev: I exclusively use OpenUTAU, RecStar and VLabeler for my UTAU works! I record the samples on my iOS Recstar and a USB microphone, oto in VLabeler and tune in OpenUTAU ( sometimes doing both at the same time ), and then I move on to Adobe Audition to mix and bring it all together! Seems like an odd choice for a DAW (since its barely one) but I mainly use Audition for its compatibility with other Adobe software, since I also create my MVs there! I also use Audition to clean my samples since there's a batch processing option.
Its so cool hearing someone take advantage of UTAU mainly on MacOS that's not me! I'm pretty much the same except I do most of my OTOing inside of UTAU-Synth! Can't break the habit as I've been working in there for 7 years now. OpenUTAU, VLabeler, and Recstar changed everything on MacOS when they released. We finally had proper applications for bank creation. So I feel like as someone on MacOS you got into UTAU in the golden era! (haha) I've got a few friends who use Adobe Audition, and I've used it once myself! Couldn't exactly navigate it well, but my friends who do use it make it look like a piece of cake. There are no batch export options for Garageband, and for UTAU, batch exporting is a very crucial feature.
Q. For our next question in bank creation, what are your recommendations for beginners in terms of recording and hardware?
Chev: I feel the same way! I feel really lucky that I got into UTAU when its at its most accessible for MacOS users, especially since I upgraded to a Mac Silicon device and lost access to Windows Bootcamp. For beginners I would recommend familiarizing using RecStar! I would suggest using the iOS or Android version of it especially if the user is recording in their bedroom space. I found that using a phone helps manage the space better when I stuff myself into a closet to record ( classic UTAU experience ). I think users should prioritize their comfort first when they record for a first time - Just relax, drink enough water before and during recording, and record something that's within comfortable talking or singing range. I would recommend recording a Japanese CV just to learn the ropes of UTAU recording! For hardware, I recommend podcast mics for a very budget friendly option! I use a Maono AU-PM360TR Condenser Mic to record all my voicebanks. I found that the usual recommended mics for UTAU ( namely the Blue Yeti ) can be way out of budget for a lot of people, especially in Southeast Asia (where I come from). I think a budget podcast mic is very much usable and can stand up against other more expensive microphones! I would also suggest having a pop filter to tame all those little nasty plosives. ( I DIY-ed mine with a sock and hangers! ) If users have access to a recording studio (perhaps a bookable mini studio from their college/university) I would also highly recommend using those resources as they usually have better equipment that's free to use.
Its really unfortunate the loss of features with every update. In my previous interview we discussed alternatives to Windows Bootcamp for MacOS Silicon devices! I would record on Recstar using my iPad… I will take note of this for myself! For beginner configuration, I made a complete tutorial series for getting started with your first JP CV-VV voicebank. That will be linked here.
Voicebank Configuration Series. . .
https://keitaiware.com/post/763148617255092224/macos-utau-voicebank-configuration-series
What my tutorials did not have were thorough hardware recommendations. I do not own a studio mic and record my voicebanks on a pair of Apple auxiliary earbuds. So these were very good recommendations! Outside of the UTAU scene, I have heard many topics on the Blue Yeti being difficult for beginners to use as well. I had asked my friend who is fascinated with audio engineering about mics before, and has recommended XLR mics. So I did mention those, but you would need an external audio interface to route them to your computer, which means, you cannot use them with Recstar. So the mic recommendation you gave is very appreciated! DIY pop filter sounds like a nice way to save money! Socks and a wire coat hanger would do very nicely, anything to absorb the sound before the mic. I do believe I mentioned renting a recording space too! If you live near a rentable recording space I highly recommend that as well.
Q. For our next question, how did you discover C+V and go about making your C+V English tutorial?
Chev: Earbuds!! I wasn't aware of the Blue Yeti's difficulty especially with the external audio interface. Glad I avoided buying that for my first mic… The way I discovered C+V is honestly somewhat funny - I actually discovered it in an oto commission list! At that time I was planning my second voicebank, Veria, and I looked around to see who I could commission for her oto. My frequent oto-er and current collaborator for my C+V English projects, Biggity Boy, had C+V English listed as one of the available formats he could oto. I tried to find any sort of info on the format but all I could find was an entry in the UTAU wiki that basically said "This is a joke format." with no reclist or anything. So I was like 'well that's kind of interesting.' The problem with English UTAU voicebanks to me was always the immense workload that comes with creating it, and I took a wild guess and expected C+V English to be the easiest way to record and English voicebank. I asked Biggity for the reclist and oto, and it all started from there! It's hard to imagine that all of my work wouldn't happen if I didn't take a look at Biggity's commissions list. Veria's beta tests were seen by a lot more people than I expected, and I held a poll asking if people wanted a tutorial for creating C+V English voicebanks. The poll ended with an overwhelming positive response, so I sought out to create the tutorial! An extensive tutorial was very much needed apart from the usual UTAU recording and otoing tutorial since prior to Cadlaxa's involvement with the dedicated phonemizer, C+V English relied on the EN ARPA phonemizer, and users needed to jump through extra optimization to use the voicebanks. 3 Months and tons of contributors and beta testers later, the tutorial has since been regularly updated with user feedback, and a refined tutorial via the upcoming website is being worked on! None of this could've happened without the hard work of contributors.
I remember looking into C+V after discovering your work, I do believe the wiki said that at the time of me reading it as well! Since your work on C+V English, I believe the reputation of the configuration has evolved completely since Veria's release. The Shelter cover (Link), showcasing Veria's voice left a long lasting impression on me! When it comes to resources in the UTAU community, they always catch my eye. This is souly because at the time when I started 7 years ago, there were no resources for MacOS and it lead to me frequenting the UTAforum. I started getting back into UTAU, with two other friends about two years ago? But one of those friends was a Mac user as well, and he was struggling to find resources. That's what lead up to me launching this blog! Your tutorials were very well put together, as I have not dabbled into video format, but aside from being insightful it was very fun to watch! Its absolutely brilliant. This being said, I hope more people are inspired to share what the create and know by seeing creatives like yourself!
Chev: I'm very aware of your work!! The Keitaiware blog is such a vital resource for MacOS users, especially for UTAU-Synth users! Just yesterday I sent an entry from your blog to someone trying to troubleshoot a problem with UTAU-Synth since I wasn't well versed at all with it. Truly it is my go-to resource when I need to troubleshoot the software. And thank you!! The video is more of a way to get more eyes on the written tutorial than anything, but I'm glad people enjoyed my editing :D
Q. To finish up this interview, do you have any future plans with your vocal synth work?
Chev: I have a lot in my cards at the moment with vocal synth work, but I'm currently finishing up work on a voicebank I recorded a year ago when I got an illness that made my voice drop into a Tenor male range!! Here's a preview of his work in progress artwork and voice.
I'm also heavily involved with IDN100%, a group that specializes in Indonesian UTAU synthesis, and we are working hard for our 2025 release!!
How exciting!! The project is looking super professional so far, I am rooting for the team to meet their deadlines!! I haven't seen many UTAUs with a knight motif, the armor is very well drawn! If you don't mind sharing some details, what is his name?
Chev: I'm thinking of sticking with Nisegane Julian, (偽金 ジュリアン ) - Nisegane being fake or fools gold, since I'm planning on this character to like flaunting and be full of himself while being a coward. I'm so glad you heard of IDN100%, thank you for your support!
Nisegane Julian is such a clever name.. fools gold to reflect his vain personality, I love that! I can't wait to see your current projects come to fruition Chev, these are very exciting! That concludes our interview for today, if you would like to see more of Chevrefee's work, C+V English tutorials, and are interested in the IDN100% project. All materials will be linked below. Thank you for sharing your time with the KEITAIWARE project today!

大逆転裁判 -成歩堂龍ノ介の冒險-, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles: Adventures, directed by Shu Takumi, originally released on 3DS on 2015
Tumblr media
there are many video games out there that attempt to replicate the feeling of being a detective: searching a scene for clues, interviewing witnesses, making deductions, figuring out the means, motive, and opportunity of the crime, and pointing out the culprit in the end. i often think about this particular video essay by Game Maker's Toolkit asking the question "What Makes a Good Detective Game?" as turns out, it's extremely hard! the essay does praise Ace Attorney for it's method of crime solving: you often already know the culprit so you have to work your way backwards to connect them to the crime, plus convince everyone else in the room that your point is valid.
the most recent games in the series bring the games back in time to the Meji Era ancestors of the classic Ace Attorney characters you know and setting up the world to exist as it does in the modern Ace Attorney era. these two games were original released on 3DS, then on iOS, but in 2021 were rereleased and finally localized on PC, PS4, and Switch. this review will only cover the first of the two games, and will contain spoilers for all cases therein.
this isn't going to be a formal review, i'm barely going to summarize the cases, but instead i kind of just want to talk about the game as it exists, Ace Attorney as a series, the mysteries presented in the game, and the references to other Sherlock Holmes media. i think this game series is one that's best experienced first hand playing it yourself or second hand through a playthrough, and as they are visual novel games, they are easily played by anyone. if i have to recommend a particular playthrough of The Great Ace Atttorney 1, might i suggest this stream series by Lumberjack2on and friends. they voice act the entire game so you can easily consume it while having it on in the background if you can't play it yourself.
this post only is gonna cover the first game, so… be wary of spoilers if you go to the wikia for any more information than i've provided here. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles content warnings are as follows: Murder, gun violence, RACISM!!!!, snakes, domestic violence, fatphobia, stabbing, immolation, allusions to surgery complications, allusions to possible parental neglect.
there are slurs for the irish, jewish, and japanese that are in the game. this is the most i will mention them in this post.
this post apparently had too many links in it so you can only read the full version on my bearblog lol

SYSTEM ADMIN INTERVIEW QUESTIONS 24-25
Table of Content
Introduction
File Permissions
User and Group Management:
Cron Jobs
System Performance Monitoring
Package Management (Red Hat)
Conclusion
Introduction
The IT field is vast, and Linux is an important player, especially in cloud computing. This blog is written under the guidance of industry experts to help all tech and non-tech background individuals secure interviews for roles in the IT domain related to Red Hat Linux.
File Permissions
Briefly explain how Linux file permissions work, and how you would change the permissions of a file using chmod. In Linux, each file and directory has three types of permissions: read (r), write (w), and execute (x) for three categories of users: owner, group, and others. Example: You will use chmod 744 filename, where the digits represent the permission in octal (7 = rwx, 4 = r–, etc.) to give full permission to the owner and read-only permission to groups and others.
What is the purpose of the umask command? How is it helpful to control default file permissions?umask sets the default permissions for newly created files and directories by subtracting from the full permissions (777 for directories and 666 for files). Example: If you set the umask to 022, new files will have permissions of 644 (rw-r–r–), and directories will have 755 (rwxr-xr-x).
User and Group Management:
Name the command that adds a new user in Linux and the command responsible for adding a user to a group. The Linux useradd command creates a new user, while the usermod command adds a user to a specific group. Example: Create a user called Jenny by sudo useradd jenny and add him to the developer’s group by sudo usermod—aG developers jenny, where the—aG option adds users to more groups without removing them from other groups.
How do you view the groups that a user belongs to in Linux?
The group command in Linux helps to identify the group a user belongs to and is followed by the username. Example: To check  user John’s group: groups john
Cron Jobs
What do you mean by cron jobs, and how is it scheduled to run a script every day at 2 AM?
A cron job is defined in a crontab file. Cron is a Linux utility to schedule tasks to run automatically at specified times. Example: To schedule a script ( /home/user/backup.sh ) to run daily at 2 AM: 0 2 * * * /home/user/backup.sh Where 0 means the minimum hour is 2, every day, every month, every day of the week.
How would you prevent cron job emails from being sent every time the job runs?
By default, cron sends an email with the output of the job. You can prevent this by redirecting the output to /dev/null. Example: To run a script daily at 2 AM and discard its output: 0 2 * * * /home/user/backup.sh > /dev/null 2>&1
System Performance Monitoring
How can you monitor system performance in Linux? Name some tools with their uses.
Some of the tools to monitor the performance are: Top: Live view of system processes and usage of resource htop: More user-friendly when compared to the top with an interactive interface. vmstat: Displays information about processes, memory, paging, block IO, and                CPU usage. iostat: Showcases Central Processing Unit (CPU) and I/O statistics for devices and partitions. Example: You can use the top command ( top ) to identify processes consuming too much CPU or memory.
In Linux, how would you check the usage of disk space?
The df command checks disk space usage, and Du is responsible for checking the size of the directory/file. Example: To check overall disk space usage:  df -h The -h option depicts the size in a human-readable format like GB, MB, etc.
Package Management (Red Hat)
How do you install, update, or remove packages in Red Hat-based Linux distributions by yum command?
In Red Hat and CentOS systems, the yum package manager is used to install, update, or remove software. Install a package:  sudo yum install httpd This installs the Apache web server.  Update a package: sudo yum update httpd Remove a package:sudo yum remove httpd
By which command will you check the installation of a package on a Red Hat system?
The yum list installed command is required to check whether the package is installed. Example: To check if httpd (Apache) is installed:  yum list installed httpd
Conclusion
The questions are designed by our experienced corporate faculty which will help you to prepare well for various positions that require Linux such as System Admin.

Mike Patton, italian interview, sept 2000
Probably, this interview took place right before the concert at Arena Parco Nord in Bologna, during the Independence Days Festival. A nice thing to know: the guy interviewing Mike is also from the US, his name is Derek Simons. Enjoy!
youtube
// Here we are with Mike Patton from Mr. Bungle, who's also been part of a ton of other bands. I know you're about to go on stage in a bit, but for those folks in Italy who might not know you yet, here's a super simple question: tell us what Mr. Bungle's music is like.
Mike: fiuuu, questo è difficilissimo! // Fiuuu, this is very hard!
I: (sarcasm mode on) no è semplice! // Oh no, it's easy!
Mike: no no no, un suono particolare, meglio (da) comprare il disco e scopri così. Io non posso descrivere. // Well, it's a unique sound, better to buy the album and discover it for yourself. I can't really describe it. (Mike Mike Mike, we don't expect these mistakse from you: "da" is incorrect here and you should have said "lo scopri così/ lo scoprirai così).
I: il disco "California" sta andando bene. // "California" is doing well.
Mike: sta andando abbastanza bene, benissimo no, diciamo a un livello modesto, sì.// It's going pretty well, not great, let's say at a modest level, yeah.
I: ma siete contenti? // Are you guys happy?
Mike: sì, però noi siamo contenti con poco, eh. // Yeah, but we're happy with very little, you know. (sweet smile and "contenti con poco" is fuc*ing native)
I: ho letto una lista di tutte le canzoni cover che fate nei vari concerti, ci saranno 80 diverse canzoni. Come mai questa passione per le teme delle colonne sonore dei film? // I've read a list of all the cover songs you perform at different concerts, there are 80 different songs. What's the reason for this passion for film soundtrack themes? (some mistakes here but our US friend has a pretty good italian, I remember him, LOL).
Mike: ma più che altro è che le nostre canzoni, che scriviamo noi, dopo un po' diventano un po' noiose e dobbiamo aggiungere qualche spezia, così. E i cover sono... è per questo motivo che suoniamo i cover. // More than anything, it's just that our songs, the ones we write ourselves, can get a bit boring after a while, so we have to add some spice to them. And the covers... that's why we play covers. (In Italian, "cover" is feminine so "le cover", not "i cover").
I: c'è un qualsiasi stile musicale che è rimasto da provare per voi? // Is there any music style left for you guys to try?
Mike: sempre. C'è sempre qualcosa da imparare, da provare. Però più che altro da imparare. Quanto tempo più che suono più che realizzo che più che so che non conosco niente, che non so niente. // Always. There's always something to learn, to try. But more than anything, to learn. The longer I play, the more I realize that I don't know anything, that I know nothing. (A bit chaotic but our grammar is a mess with this kind of phrase. He wanted to say "più suono, più mi rendo conto che non conosco niente, non so niente". Btw, the meaning is clear).
Mike: ciao ciao a tutti che stanno guardando "Surfing", ci vediamo! // Hi to all the people out there who are watching "Surfing", see ya!
In this interview, his Italian isn't at its best. Probably, he spent some time abroad during the summer, and he was a bit incorrect here and there. By the way, it's always more than good!

I've seen multiple people here and on reddit claim that 47 is canonically asexual, but I haven't found anything in canon that clearly states or even just implies this.
Are they talking about the movies or what's going on here?
47’s sexuality has never been stated in canon.
Afaik the closest we’ve come to a statement was in a developer interview (I think for Blood Money). The dev being interviewed said when considering 47’s character arc, they felt giving him a love interest wouldn’t work because he is outside society.
We see a hint of this kind of storyline in the Damnation novel. While that novel isn’t canon, it is a tie-in so I assume the writer ran the themes by IO. I think we can assume 47’s probably not canonically aromantic.
We see loneliness and melancholia in 47 very clearly across the series, both in the games and in dev interviews. I think this might be why some fans view him as asexual, but I don’t think being alone implies a sexual orientation. Diana has been described as 47’s “closest human connection” by the devs, which is certainly open to interpretation. Some people also misuse the term “canon” when they mean “headcanon”.
Of course, 47 as a character has existed for over 20 years now. Teams change, writers change, even the canon has changed. Sexuality is fluid, and we’ve seen 47 himself is capable of change.
To me, he is a traumatised character that doesn’t fully know who he is. He could be ace, he could be demi. He could be gay, or bi. He could be a het man who prefers to keep to himself. He could be banging anything that moves as soon as he completes a mission (certain configurations of his safehouse bedroom raise a few questions). He could be off/on with Diana. He could be a virgin.
Personally, I hope we never find out. It’s way more fun to speculate :D

That Time I was All In: Written Review
Tumblr media
Less than 24 hours ago I was in a record-breaking event, among 81K other wrestling fans and my first ever live wrestling show. So I'm gonna detail my time at the event in segments. We shall start with the general experience here, and then I will put as many photos as I can put within Tumblr limits (which means I may have to spread it out a few days) that I took from my phone which aren't absolute crap or obscured by flailing hands, signs and foam fingers XD
I will try to pair them in the hashtag #danwhosallin
[pictures p1: Boxpark] [pictures p2: Zero Hour 1] [pictures p3: Zero Hour 2] [pictures p4: Main Card 1] [pictures p5: Main Card 2] [pictures p6: Main Card 3] [pictures p7: Main Card 4] [pictures p8: Main Card 5] [pictures p9: Main Card 6] [pictures p10: Main Card 7] [pictures p11: Misc]
So without further ado, let's talk about my experience.
My journey to Wembley started on Saturday morning. I had purchased to attend the Box Park party, promised to have meet & greet, early access merch and a £10 voucher for food and drink. Problem however is that I don't live too near to London, and I had only ever been to Wembley once for an England football game vs Montenegro - which much to our disappointment was a direly boring 0-0 draw, so I had to leave for a 7:48 train, I came out the wrong stop where it ate up my ticket and had to walk to the box park, and I was met with a familiar British custom.
Queues.
It may be associated with Brits but we fucking hate queuing, we just uphold a level of decorum when it comes to cutting in, this queue was like an advanced game of Snake, every time you went around a bend there was another bend, then right at Wembley rampway there was zigzag queues, you got wristbands then zigzagged more just to get into the building and: more queues!
All this queuing sadly meant I could hear but missed Jericho, Bryan and the Acclaimed addressing the crowd while in the queue, but I made it in for Tony Schiavone - prompted to curse by RJ City, Lethal and Satnam doing Woos, Jarrett struts and a Macho Man impression, Nigel McGuinness doing some Derren Brown magic with Singh and Lethal (picked the smallest woman in the crowd to lift and neither could lift after the trick) and then Jarrett and Karen doing a Q&A. The Q&A was pretty insightful actually, he talked about mental health, a Terry Funk story, Grado teases, his hatred of Hogan, he outwardly confronted a guy who asked Karen who was better in bed between him and Angle. Hobbs was also in the building, I spotted him when queuing to the merch stand, Aubrey was doing an AEW Heels table too and Rosario Grillo & Dean Alexander (The Young Bucks' 'stunt double' were outside taking a break). There was also an action figure box to pose in, and I did a photo with Lethal and Satnam, the dude is fucking massive, I had to pose with 2 other strangers for time reasons and that was it. If I'm honest I probably wouldn't do it again, you queue more than you explore.
That experience led me to arrive to Wembley on Sunday much earlier, I got there about 2:30, an hour before doors will open. I had an overpriced ice cream that would unwittingly be the last thing I ate for 23 hours and slowly soaked in the surroundings; cosplay, various shirts from AEW and other companies (the guy in the Hana Kimura shirt behind commentary was on my train), there were a pair in full Bret and Bulldog cosplay too. I noticed the Cultaholic guys by their logo and they offered to interview me on 4 questions, though I am a little embarrassed by some of my answers, I said that Rey Mysterio was the most underrated wrestler given how much he overcame, which is still a statement I maintain but if I were asked again I would probably say the most underrated is Malenko, a great technician who never got his flowers. Also a slight addendum since while I would have Chad Gable in AEW like I said I'd probably pick Io Shirai ahead of him.
Regardless, a few steps forward soaking things in I found myself in the path of a woman with her phone up dressed in purple, I wasn't sure if it was a vlog or a panoramic picture but then I realised something:
Oh shit that's Emi Sakura
Had I been half a bit braver I probably would've asked her for a photo, but seeing her taking it in as a fan - alongside Lulu, Mei was apparently at the event but I didn't see her - made me reconsider, wrestlers are people too.
Getting into the stadium was weird, they had me queue at Turnstile G, but I had to go all the way to Turnstile C's area to reach the block I'd enter through. The fact that my wristband said 'Pitch Access' made me realise how grossly I had underestimated my closeness to the ring. I just had to soak that in too, I was on the pitch, four rows from ringside! People were still coming in halfway into the pre-show, that just showed how much were coming.
Attending a wrestling event also had its pros and cons. When the Pre-Show started we could only see the matches, all the packages and interviews done by Renee and Kip were not shown to us, which is a major shame and also kept us out of loop such as people cheering far back and not knowing that's RJ interviewing audience members, and even though there's a chance of getting on tv there's also the chance that people with signs and foam fingers will get in the way of your FOV especially when they feel the camera's on them 90% of the time. Security would also keep asking us to sit down at times, something the ringside seats seemed exempt from, meaning anything outside the ring couldn't really be seen unless on a time delay on the screen. I also felt like the bass of the crowd noise wasn't pitchside, we were chanting and loud but not as loud at it would seem on a tv screen, much of that would've came from the stands (given the larger amount of people there) but it made it hard to hear. But on the other side you get to see the downtime stuff too, so we got to cheer for Tony, Justin, Bryce, Aubrey and Hobbs before the cameras rolled, I also spotted Whatculture's Simon Miller to massive surprise (Oku and Leon Slater were also among the security beaten by Miro and Hobbs).
Pre-show was good, but since we were only privy to the matches it was a bit quiet, part of me thought the Hobbs stuff was just for the attendees, it irked me that no women's match was on either; could've put Emi in a 10 woman tag with Nyla, Bunny, Penelope and Taya vs faces like Itoh (since she's facing Nyla for TJPW), Sky Blue, Riho, maybe even Billie and Athena. Or could've just had a 4-way of Ruby, Diamante, Willow and Mercedes Martinez to determine the TBS title contender. Still, people were into it, Grado made his much teased appearance - no Like a Prayer though - Cole and MJF actually won the ROH tag titles, and HOOK and Jack Perry put on a nice little no rules match which saw Jack get scraped up pretty good by the real glass - I only heard about the altercation this morning, I don't really have thoughts on it - but it was a matter that the 2 hours could've offered more wrestling, even if it was unaired matches for the audience not seeing the promos. Mercedes Moné appeared on the tron 3 times, but each time I grabbed my phone to snap a photo the screen moved away, leading to me cursing each time XD Also TK promotions of the Fulham game and Jacksonville Jaguars games were met with loud boos, it was hilarious.
From the main card though it was just all fun and entertainment. Watching wrestling live is a bit slower, but fan engagement does make it more enjoyable. Wembley was 90% Samoa Joe territory, and while that opened the door for some Punk shithousery with Cena and Hogan moves we all knew he was keeping his X Division unofficial belt. In fact the biggest pop he got was simply hovering around a trans rights sign, but make no mistake people are cheering the sign in that case. It surprised me that the Elite matches came straight after, the trios match was good but it never hit full gear, we kept trying to will the Golden Elite on but their momentum often got stifled. That being said, shit does Takeshita and Ibushi hit each other hard, you could see them rattling their opponents, the Gunns were also quite entertaining at ringside but the finish caught us all by surprise. The Bucks/FTR match was good, it was a slow burner and the Bucks' streamers stuck to the scaffolding for the rest of the night but as much as the audience were Anti-Punk and Pro-Kenny they weren't exactly Pro-Bucks either, also chants of 'Please don't shoot me' for Cash was a bit tongue in cheek.
Stadium Stampede may not have been everyone's cup of tea, and alas I didn't get the pleasure of seeing someone obliterated at my feet, but dammit it was one of my favourite matches. The BCC walked down a few rows away from me, but people were swarming to them so I didn't bother trying there. I could spot Kingston up in the stands brawling with Claudio, and while yes there were some botches and unwilling equipment, there were a lot of fun and brutal spots, including Penta hitting some chair shots that did not look like they were protected (maybe a gimmicked chair?). And Eddie is fucking over, that man will destroy the metaphorical roof when he becomes world champion. The women's match was fun too, lots of good wrestling there, however between the Buck's Freddie Mercury gear and Saraya coming out to We Will Rock You I did again think back to Emi Sakura missing out, and other people using her shtick. As much as the crowd loved it I also was a bit let down that Saraya won, because there was little reason to put the title on Shida in the end - and I was really hoping Shida could retain in a PPV in front of a crowd for once - but to their credit they did build Saraya's face turn well in the match, the PTO/Curb Stomp combo to Toni was pretty awesome too.
The Coffin match was fun, I actually expected more interference, but there were a lot of hefty bumps. English Oak tables too sturdy to break once though we'd find, as Sting needed two attempts to send Swerve through it. Sting was a lot of fun here, Swerve was great too and his blue robe was pretty awesome. Jericho/Ospreay though, fuck what a match that was; we have to start considering Ospreay as one the best in the world because he keeps on delivering. I never had doubts that Jericho could put on this performance at the big stage, his snap rana caught me by surprise though, and while he is no Freddie (who is?) his Fozzy entrance was fun, surprised Sammy didn't turn either it felt like we were gonna linger on it. The Trios title was good too, good on Julia - who like the other HoB members rocked the white outfit, and the Bray lantern - for taking a bump too. Wembley loves the Acclaimed but we also loved us some Brody 'woof' King, right result in the end too and maybe a HoB face turn or at least a show of respect, it definitely set us up for the big finale.
And what a finale, fans were high on both but it was Adam Cole who played the heel for most of the match, the absolutely grisly brainbuster on the edge of the steps, but the dramatic tension was palpable throughout. It was the right move not to turn either too, and the draw fakeout too was great for fan engagement, we ate it all up, and news that they'll come back next year was met with much approval and confetti - some of which I grabbed for keepsakes. TK even came into the ring to close the night, no boos there.
After the show I hovered around to find Simon Miller's live Ups & Downs show, you can only see me briefly because we were all squished like sardines, the girls chanting for Willow was by my suggestion though, but after the recording Simon was nice enough to see us all and to do photos. It was a late and long travel back because it was a lot of last calls for trains (last calls that lasted 2 minutes), very tight, very warm, then I slept for 5 hours XD Airbeds suck y'know?
So yeah, a long weekend but a great show. Even the best show isn't perfect of course but that doesn't subtract it from being great. All in 2024 will be different however, the first time can carry on being the first time, but the second will depend on the card. But the fans were still great, signs and obstruction aside it's not like they mean it, many of them were very friendly, so it was all a good time.
Match of the Night: For me it's the main event just edging Stadium Stampede and Ospreay/Jericho, the story won out in investment Best Entrance: Jericho with the Fozzy entrance for me, Saraya's was nice with her family and Jack Perry in the limo was decent but Jericho takes the best one easily Best Attire: Toughest one to pick because of how many good ones there were but the one that stuck with me was Swerve's blue robe Best Performance: Ospreay for wrestling, Cole and MJF for storytelling Spot of the Night: Adam Cole's Brainbuster on MJF on the steps, it was a spot where you had to be inch perfect because it was right on the line of the steps, and MJF sold it like he was murdered

Avoid These Mistakes When You Hire an iOS Application Developer for Your Project
In 2025, mobile apps are no longer a luxury; they're essential tools for brand growth, user engagement, and digital revenue. But building a successful iOS app goes far beyond having a great idea. You need the right developer to turn your idea into a real app.
Whether you’re launching a fitness tracker, a food delivery app, or a finance tool, the person or team you hire can make or break your project. That's why it's crucial to avoid common hiring pitfalls. In this blog, we’ll highlight the biggest mistakes companies make when they hire an iOS application developer, and how you can avoid them to ensure your app is functional, scalable, and App Store-ready.
Why Hiring the Right iOS Developer Matters More Than Ever
Apple’s ecosystem has expanded dramatically in 2025. With SwiftUI growing, iOS 19 updates, Vision Pro features, and new AI tools, creating an iOS app today needs more technical skills and a better understanding of Apple's platform than ever before.
Hiring a skilled iOS developer ensures:
Compliance with Apple’s strict guidelines
Smooth performance across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch
Scalability as your app grows
Strong App Store Optimization
Integration with Apple APIs
Common Mistakes to Avoid When You Hire an iOS Application Developer
Here are the top missteps you should avoid during the hiring process:
1. Choosing Cost Over Quality
Many startups and small businesses fall into the trap of choosing the cheapest developer they can find. While budget matters, going too cheap can result in:
Poor app performance
Bugs and crashes
Delays in App Store approval
Lack of scalability
Pro Tip: Focus on value, not just price. A reliable iOS developer might charge more upfront but will save you time, money, and headaches in the long run.
2. Not Verifying Past Experience
A portfolio speaks louder than a resume. If a developer hasn’t built apps similar to yours or doesn’t have live apps on the App Store, consider it a red flag.
What to do instead:
Ask for links to live apps
Check App Store reviews
Verify their role in each project
3. Ignoring Knowledge of Apple’s Ecosystem
iOS apps today are expected to integrate with Apple Watch, Siri, widgets, iCloud, and even Apple Vision Pro. Hiring someone unfamiliar with these tools can limit your app’s functionality.
Ask questions like:
“Have you worked with SwiftUI or UIKit?”
“Can you integrate HealthKit, Core ML, or ARKit?”
“How do you optimize apps for battery life?”
4. Overlooking Communication & Availability
Great code is useless if your developer disappears for days or doesn’t understand your goals. Differences in time zones, communication issues, and lack of regular updates can completely mess up your project.
Ensure they offer:
Regular updates
Shared project tools
A clear point of contact for questions
5. Skipping the Technical Interview
Even if you're non-technical, you should never skip evaluating a developer’s actual skills. If needed, hire a technical consultant to review resumes, run code tests, or sit in on interviews.
Consider asking:
“How would you manage offline functionality in an iOS app?”
“What’s the difference between SwiftUI and UIKit?”
“How do you handle memory management?”
6. Not Discussing App Store Compliance Early
Many apps get rejected from the App Store due to poor design, weak privacy compliance, or broken features. An experienced developer should already know Apple’s app review policies.
Ask:
“How do you ensure compliance with Apple’s guidelines?”
“Do you support submitting the app to the App Store and managing future updates?”
7. No Post-Launch Support
Releasing the app is not the finish line, it's just the start. Users will want frequent updates, bug repair, and added features. Don’t hire a developer who disappears after launch.
Look for developers or teams who offer:
Post-launch support packages
Bug fixing SLAs
Version upgrades for new iOS releases
Tumblr media
What an Ideal Hiring Process Looks Like
Here’s a quick checklist to hire an iOS application developer effectively:
Define your project goals & features Choose a hiring model Review portfolios and App Store listings Interview for both technical and soft skills Start with a paid test task Sign an NDA and clear contract terms Use tools like Git, Jira, Figma, or Trello for collaboration Plan for support and version updates
Real-World Example: A Startup That Got It Right
A health-tech startup in the U.S. Wanted to create a telehealth app for iOS that follows HIPAA privacy rules. They interviewed 12 developers, shortlisted 3, and finally chose a developer with:
Strong SwiftUI experience
Prior work with HealthKit and CoreML
A clear plan for post-launch support
The app was launched in 14 weeks, received a 4.8 App Store rating, and scaled to 50,000+ users within 6 months all because they avoided hiring mistakes and chose the right partner.
4 Must-Ask FAQs When Hiring iOS Developers
1. Should I hire a freelancer or an agency for iOS app development?
It depends on your budget, timeline, and scope. Freelancers are cost-effective for small projects. Agencies are better for full-service development with design, testing, and maintenance.
2. What are red flags to watch for during the hiring process?
No portfolio or fake references
Refusing to sign an NDA
Poor communication or unclear pricing
Lack of Swift or SwiftUI experience
3. Can I update and manage the app myself after launch?
Yes if the developer uses good coding practices and hands over proper documentation. Always request access to source code, Apple Developer account, and backend credentials.
Final Thoughts
Hiring the right iOS developer can take your business to new heights. But the wrong hire can cost you time, money, and brand trust. In 2025, it’s more important than ever to choose developers who are not only skilled in Swift and SwiftUI, but also understand Apple’s ecosystem, privacy standards, and user experience expectations.
When you hire an iOS application developer, don’t rush the process. Avoid the common mistakes listed in this guide, and you’ll save yourself from major issues down the line.
Need help reviewing developer portfolios or want a custom hiring checklist? Let me know and I can help prepare a selection guide or compare freelancer vs agency options tailored to your app idea.
