Here’s some more Rain Code memes, this time featuring Melami’s stupid jokes and Aphex’s rage fits. I’ve also tried to make Pucci memes for her fans out there, but it’s been slightly harder for me to do so. I don’t know, maybe it’s just a skill issue on my part. I’ll definitely work on it.

As always, I’ll keep uploading more Rain Code memes as I keep making them. I actually have some memes that didn’t make the final cut for the previous posts, though I’m not sure if I want to upload them. I wouldn’t say they’re nearly as good as the ones I’ve already shared.

Chapter 3 Loading Screen Trivia

Note: Currently, I do not know which of these trivia may be general game trivia or Chapter 3 exclusives (if there is any). And there may be trivia I'm currently missing that I will add later on, if I find any more.

World Detective Organization (WDO) An extra-legal, extra-privileged organization devoted to eradicating the world's unsolved mysteries.

Detective Deed An identification card. These are granted by the World Detective Organization.

Master Detective Among the detectives belonging to the World Detective Organization, this is a detective with a specialized power called Forensic Forte that aids in their investigative activities.

Forensic Forte Those exhibiting innate talent for special powers like clairvoyance or mind-reading are trained by the WDO to develop a supernatural investigative ability called Forensic Forte or simply, Forte.

Amaterasu Corporation Many products are in development, some of which cannot be made public.

Amaterasu Peacekeepers A department of Amaterasu Corporation. They serve as a sort of police force within Kanai Ward.

Kanai Station The only train station in Kanai Ward. It's a magnificent building, but seldom has customers because of the city's isolation.

Kamasaki District Crime generally isn't bad here, unless you venture deeper inside, that is.

Riverbank Due to polluted waters, fish are rarely caught.

Kanai Bus System A bus service running throughout Kanai Ward. The bus fee is fixed at 200 shien. Amaterasu Corporation employees ride free.

Kanai Ward Living Condition Perhaps because of the daily rainfall, some people in Kanai Ward don't mind getting wet.

TV Programs Nearly all the TV programs broadcasted in Kanai Ward are sponsored by Amaterasu Corporation.

Popular Sports Parkour is popular among the young men of Kamasaki District. New problems have arisen however, what will all the trespassing and running across the top of food stalls.

Crosswalks The crosswalks in Kanai ward detect pedestrians and stop traffic for them. As such, it's fairly uncommon to see people waiting for the signal to change.

Pets Because of Kanai Ward's unending rain, indoor pets are popular. At the same time, there is increasing concern of many dogs and cats become feral after being abandoned by irresponsible owners.

Flora in Kanai Ward Because it's difficult to grow plants in the perpetually rainy Kanai Ward, many have been replaced with synthetic counterparts, aside from some roadside trees and flowers in Ginma.

Flavor of Halara's Candy Depends on the mood. The worse the mood, the sweeter the taste; the better the mood, the lighter the taste.

Desuhiko's Bangs Desuhiko is particular about how his bangs look; it takes about an hour a day to style.

Fubuki's Accessories Fubuki's necklace has a clock motif. The choker is decorated with video playback control symbols.

Vivia's Garments There are just bandage-like wrappings beneath his coat, so it wouldn't be accurate to call it clothing.

Yakou's Lifestyle A complete night owl, he typically sleeps in until noon, even when there's work to be done. This nocturnal lifestyle was the norm until the Master Detectives arrived.

Sun & Moon Hotel Breakfast is served buffet-style in the adjoining restaurant.

Cafe A cafe with an open terrace located in Gina District. It is popular among office workers on break and female students on their way home from school.

Kanai Tower The tallest building in Kanai Ward. Especially high-ranking people within Amaterasu Corporation and their families live here.

Dohya District The so-called "slums" of Kanai Ward, where everything is stagnant and polluted. Most of the district is flooded because rainwater cannot be properly drained.

Dohya District Criminals and others on the run from Peacekeepers occupy the abandoned building here, making the area fairly dangerous.

Marunomon District The business area of Kanai Ward. Rows of office buildings line the street, and Kanai Ward's only bank is also located here.

Marunomon District Being a commercial area, it is relatively crime-free compared to other districts.

Marunomon Bank The only bank in Kanai Ward. All the money circulating through the city begins and ends their journey here. Due to the advanced security, no incidents have ever occured.

"Grade A" A meat bun shop in Marunomon District. Though luxuriously priced at 1000 shien apiece nearby office workers have remarked on the bland flavor.

Golden Path Cafe Uniforms Many customers flock here simply to ogle the uniformed waitresses.

Kanai Ward's Electrical Power Because of the perpetual rain, electrical power is derived predominantly from rainwater.

The Resistance A movement that has declared its opposition to Amaterasu Corporation. The name of the group is "Anti-Establishment Organization," but they're commonly called the Resistance.

Dronebrella Incidents Dronebrellas are handsfree umbrellas, and inter-device collisions as well as incidents involving loss of control due to electromagnetic interference has occurred.

Icardi's Boots Made of waterproof material similar to that of wetsuits, the boots have a switch on the heel that turns them into flippers.

Margulaw's Photo Frame The old photo frame inside the shop is not for sale. It was a birthday present from departed family members.

Servan and Gambling A frequent patron of casinos, he prefers games based on probability and theory. His all-time win is currently less than 50%.

Makoto's Meals Almost always eaten at restaurants or the Amaterasu Corporation cafeteria. He's terrible at cooking, so he never makes his own food.

The Clockford Family The world-renowned family tasked with managing the world's standard of time. They are also responsible for deciding on standard operating procedures related to time and the calendar.

Fubuki's Sense of Monetary Value Given her affluent, princess-like upbringing, she rarely went shopping for herself and thusly has a unique sense of monetary value. She thinks an apple costs as much as a car.

Guillaume There's a hobby she hasn't told anyone about: recipe development. She's sweet on sweets and has strong opinions on proper jam making technique.

Rumor Surrounding Dominic Once a soldier, he suffered a serious injury in battle and became a cyborg after undergoing surgery at Amaterasu Corp. That's the rumor going around the company, anyway.

Swindle Detective A Master Detective who turned their advanced skills of deception and cajolery into a Forte. This detective was not summoned to Kanai Ward.

This is pretty accurate overall! Seems like Reddit actually got something right for once...

Halara could be a region-dependent fan favorite. While they did win first place in the character popularity poll in Japan, who knows if they'd be guaranteed the same victory if a poll was explicitly conducted for the Western audience. While there could be contenders like Yuma or Vivia, Halara is definitely the easiest choice to put it in simplistic terms. They had the most marketing next to Yuma n Shinigami, they get plenty of badass fight scenes, they're written and designed to be conventionally attractive with their androgyny, and speaking of which--they're non-binary representation! It's no surprise Halara takes the crown!

Icardi is made to be hated by Yuma specifically, and his anger then transfers over to the audience as a way of endorsing Icardi's inevitable demise. While Icardi's motive is backed by living in a very awful place plagued by corruption that he desperately wanted to escape from, Yuma is understandably enraged that it was Shachi who bit the bullet. Yuma associates Shachi with Yakou, as they share in their same roles as leaders and goals of saving Kanai Ward. To Yuma in that moment, he's lost two people who took him in and offered to help him when he's confused and endangered, so like hell is he gonna let the culprit not feel his anguish. And so, we root for Icardi's death in sympathy for Yuma.

I know a lotta case-exclusive or minor characters tend to be forgotten, but I still remember the kid's name being Kei Colan! I blame the brainrot for never making me forget any details.

That's all I got for commentary, the rest don't need much explanation or I just can't think of anything witty to say. I won't tell ya which.

After finally finishing Raincode I kinda want to just get my thoughts on the game out; going chapter by chapter because holy shit it's a lot and I have so many thoughts.

Spoilers under the cut

Chapter 0

Looking back this case was a really solid start and really help set the tone and how ruthless Amaterasu corp is. Fake Zilch was a great killer though in hind sight there are a few plot holes. Specifically with the Zilch homunculi we find in the factory and him being on the train he would be exposed to sunlight. Though with the limited size to the windows and Zilch's clothes covering most of his body I can buy him not having stepped in direct sunlight.

Also the Doyleist vs. Watsonian reason for the bodies being burned is pretty interesting. Zilch needed to make Aphex look unrecognisable and Kodaka needed there to be no large amount of blood to be spilled so as to not tip the player off about the pink blood. Simple mystery that does a good job introducing the game mechanics.

Also shows how early everything is being set up, with Yuma's blood on the door being red.

Chapter 1

First off Helara, excellent companion. What's her gender? Detective. What's in her pants? A picture of a cat. Do you want to know what's not in her pants? the 5,000,000 shien you owe her. Her ability is pretty interesting and I love how its mechanics are incorporated into solving the mystery, with the tipped over paint can.

Certain locked rooms were easier to solve than others. Personally I found the gallery room the most difficult to do and it's the only one I actively needed the game to spell out for me.

I like how each murder pretty well telegraphs how each room was done and how it eliminates each church goer.

I was able to call the gallery murder being a copy cat. I think what tipped me off was the paintings being used instead of the dolls.

In this case I saw the first corpse and thought "Wow, so glad the wacky Danganrompa bright pink blood has been brought back! I guess the blood being red was just to show it had dried, or a mistake that slipped through."

...

"Does she know?"

Chapter 2

Kurumi you will always be famous, to me. God speed to you and the sequel that was set up for you at the end. "I may be immortal but I'm not that patient." Iconic. Same voice actor as Framme fire emblem. I love her.

Generally I don't tend to like the token pervert characters but Desuhiko has the cringefail charm that I love. Khoi Dao gives an excellent performance and really made me like Desuhiko in spite of my dislike of his archetype.

Now the case itself was really good. Kurune, Yoshiko, and Waruna all working together to kill Karen because she killed Aiko and got away with it was excellent. You can really see Kodaka is enjoying not being bound by the restrictions of the killing game. (Almost) Every mystery in this game could not have been pulled off in a Danganrompa style killing game, it's really great.

The ending of this case where we kill three high school students did leave a bad taste in my mouth and I had to put the game down for about a week. Though at least it did feel like something of a mercy kill.

Chapter 3

As usual chapter three is the worst one. Easily the weakest case and it's not even a close. The murder method feels like one that could be done in a killing game, like they needed filler so they pulled out a draft of a case where Asahina was the culprit and tweaked it a little bit to fit the setting.

It does not help that it is really poorly paced (Ironic considering the abilities of your companion) running around planting the bombs, then immediately going to diffuse them with a zero escape style mini game, combined with the fuck ton of qte's in this chapter made it really tedious.

Icardi was the worst culprit with the worst motive and the two peace keepers from this chapter were so forgettable that I don't remember their names.

Sucks even harder that his plan would have never worked since he would have left Kanai ward and immediately gone berserk.

Fubuki was easily the bright spot in this case. Her powers being so broken and that being what helped her get into Kanai ward in the first place was pretty interesting. her knowing that her powers are a crutch and what she thinks gives her value on the team was very interesting. I loved her clashing with Shinigami in the labyrinth, carrying this chapter on her god damn shoulders.

Chapter 4

Crying in the club about this one. Yakou you're my sad little meow meow who did everything wrong.

Yakou tanking the poison gas and relying on the detectives' fortes to get past the security and into the doctor's lab was such an inspired choice. I pretty quickly deduced that the killer had just face tanked the gas. Of course because Yakou was already at deaths door I began to go into the denial stage. Telling myself that the gas needed half an hour to take effect but the security logs said the system was turned off an hour prior to Yuma obtaining the logs.

Vivia going after Yuma with a box cutter in the mystery labyrinth as Yakou was just unresponsive behind them... I'm surprised I was able to see my switch screen through all of the tears.

I thought I couldn't hate Yomi more after what he did to Electro. I was wrong. Seeing Vivia get angry at Yomi when we were released from the labyrinth. He should have shanked Yomi with the box cutter.

Chapter 5

Another chapter with whack ass pacing though it is a final case so that's pretty common.

Should've known the bodies were fake were Halara supposedly dies second when it would obviously be Vivia. (Desuhiko is still dying first). Coalescence being used to mimic the handwriting of the other master detectives was pretty neat and while being something we weren't shown it makes sense as something it can do.

The pink blood. Oh boy the pink blood. I don't think I'm ever going to shut up about this. Yuma yelling "Blood being pink is obviously strange!" left me staring at the screen, slack jawed. What a twist that could only hit with the three Danganrompa behind it. So excellent, I'll forgive all this cases' pacing issues on that twist alone.

Getting chased through the abandoned village by past victims and culprits was really frightening. Waruna, Kurune, and Yoshiko jumping Kurumi was really horrific. Fink the Slaughter artist being dead felt a little anti-climactic. Yakou giving Yuma the disk was a really great moment.

Shinigami's goodbye was really emotional. I loved her very unserious attitude so her being serious, telling Yuma how much he means to her was really good.

over all a solid 7.5/10. Without chapter three, 9/10. really good game.
