Once Upon A Time – 3.21: Snow Drifts/ There's No Place Like Home

These past two chapter were absolutely, gut-wrenching.. you see i went through the 5 stages of greif during every single scene, KW, i sincerely, madly and deeply would like to read an actual novel of yours, you are and absolute gem, one im very glad to know albeit being hidden.. it’s like you’re my little secret.

They way you describe killian and levi, the way you describe everything, make me feel as if im a part of them, i felt the harsh twist of switchblade, i felt the gunshot, i felt sofias sadness, i felt levi’s beating love for kilian, and i as much as i felt greif, i felt it’s warmth and it’s love.. I’m sorry if I’m not making any sense but your words made me absolutely speechless till the point idek what to say..

Every scene felt like a master scene and i really applause you for the way your wrote these chapters, it’s.. fascinating and mesmerizing really, the way you bend words under your mercy like some-kind of an alluring witch your writing is immaculate

When you blinked your eyes open, the first person you saw was Levi. His smile was bright and warm. It made you feel weightless. It made you feel loved. You smiled back, albeit weakly. Levi squeezed your hand gently, still smiling. “Welcome back, sweetheart,” he whispered.

Also ikr. Levi is such a sweet, sensitive person at his core that to see it spill out without hesitation now is really one of the purest things you could witness.

As for MATHIAS, writing that scene between him and Kilian was honestly like a fever dream. My hands were moving faster than my mind. I always knew from crafting his character who he was at his core, but to be able to reveal it to all of you made it all the more exciting. Like it had always been lurking underneath, under everything he did, and now you finally got to see him for what he was. If he ever alarmed you, you finally knew why. If he ever made you feel uneasy, now you could see why. It was such a pleasure to write that scene between the two of them!

My Opinion on;

Character in general:  Killian Jones. Boy do i have a lot to say about this character. Now before he compromised himself for emma and completely changed as a person, i loved him. I was all ready for a villainous captain hook on ouat. i loved him in the movie Hook, i love this muse sO MUCH because of the fact that i love villains and the dynamics they have with the protagonists and peter pan and hook’s dynamic was a favorite of mine. im not too happy with how he ended up in ouat but that’s another story. How they play them:  i LOVE that you use other interpretations of hook to create your own portrayal. i find it better when there are multiple sources and you can pick and choose what you like and !!! you can tell in the way that you write him that you’ve put a lot of thought into what you wanted him to experience and i also agree with your canon divergence of no captain swan!! he compromises himself way too much for that relationship and i like that you won’t do that with him.  The Mun: CHARLIEEEEEE. geez how long have we been following each other across blogs??? OH ok i will honestly throw hands at the next person to come after henry for harold and maude that shit is a perfect film and y’all have no taste in cinemahhhhhh ok? honestly of all the fucking garbage nerd hipster references that a&e threw into the show, the cat stevens/harold & maude shout outs are the only valid ones, and i will fight the sun on this. that moment when ‘don’t be shy’ plays in 1x02 is honestly the most iconic music moment on the show the end.

Musical episode: Yay or nay?

I loved it tbh. I thought it was campy and ridiculous and perfect. Also, like, I always cry during “A Happy Beginning” because I’m a sap.

When did you start watching Once, and do you remember why?

I was in college and a bunch of my friends were watching it and they told me it was like Lost and I should watch it. And they kept bothering me. And kept bothering me. And then they told me Sebastian Stan was in it and it was because of Sebastian Stan that I started. I started the summer in between the third and fourth season

What made watching Once worthwhile?

I almost gave up, actually! There’s a stretch of episodes in the middle of season 1 that almost lost me because I was so over the Emma/Regina feud and didn’t find the flashbacks compelling (this is like around when Snow loses her memories) until I saw the episode where we learn that Ruby is also the wolf and it was really that like dedicated to defying what we knew about Once.

First + Current Main Ships?

Well, I remember seeing the “When I win your heart Emma” gifset from S3 and I was like “whoa that’s hot” so I knew that Emma and Hook were the possibility of a thing so I pretty much always shipped CS from the beginning. But I’m also a big proponent of Outlaw Queen, Dragon Queen, Swan Queen, Curious Archer and Mulan Rouge (WE COULD’VE HAD IT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL) as well

First + Current Favourite character?

I’ve loved Emma Swan from the moment she slammed a guy’s head into the steering wheel. That woman is my everything.

I also love Ruby, Regina, Robin the first, Killian, Zelena, Alice, Robin the second, Mulan (WE WERE SO ROBBED) and my son, Henry Daniel Mills. I also love Merlin and miss that hot magic tree man. And Ingrid. 

Favourite arc (Why?)?

I LOVE THE FROZEN ARC. Mostly because of Elizabeth’s Mitchell’s cleavage.  I know I’m like one of three people that loves the Frozen arc, but I thought the casting for ALL the Frozen characters was perfect and with the exception of what happened to poor Will Scarlet, it didn’t feel too forced, imo. I also love the contrast between Elsa and Ingrid, who is Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Snow Queen”. Also, like, in the movie they were gonna make Elsa evil originally and Ingrid was kind of like the what could be of that.

Also: you have Captain Swan dates, you had the iconic Outlaw Queen vault sex scene, and as tragic as it was, that scene where Belle banishes Rumple from the town is some of the most INCREDIBLE acting on this entire show. And 

Favourite plot twist?

Ruby being the wolf, hands down. I screamed.

Hardest death to watch?

I’ll never get over Robin’s death. That was just awful and SO uncalled for. I hate it. 

This character should have gotten more time?

Maleficent deserved more. She was really a major player in the pasts of three of our main characters (Regina, Snow and Charming...although I find it hard to believe she didn’t associate with Rumple more than that one scene in 4b). Also like...we deserve those Zorro flashbacks. Just saying.

How do you summarize the show to your friends? (max. 3 sentences)

My favorite show of all time, with weird timelines but don’t think too hard about the plot just focus on the acting.

Favourite Once specific trope (think Memory Wipe, Family Trees, Glowing Walkey-Talkey Hearts, Head Achey Timelines…)

Every goddamn allusion to Lost. The clock striking 815, Henry’s birthday being 8/15, Henry being born at 8:15, his apartment number being 23, Regina’s house number being 108, all the Lost actors showing up, Apollo Bars, etc. 

Three quotes that mean a lot to you?

I’d say the Bug, but I think it’s a stick shift and I can’t drive stick shift so maybe Emma’s red leather jacket. 

Favourite funny scene?

Snow and Regina’s fight during the curse of Shattered Sight. I remember shrieking with laughter the first time I heard “I WAS TENNNNNNNNNNNNNN!”

Favorite Platonic Ship: Swan Believer! 

Favorite dish from Granny’s? Granny’s main staples (grilled cheese and lasagna) I can’t actually eat so I guess I’d do a burger or something.

Okay so there’s about 10 that I talk about/draw actively

Grech Campbell -My Baby Boy. He’s an absolute mess, super grumpy, and occasionally acts like an asshole. He tones it down as he gets older, though. Say ‘self-destructive tendencies’ or ‘unhealthy coping mechanisms’ three times in the mirror and he’ll appear to sit on your bathroom floor and cry. He’s awkward and sarcastic and Emo as all hell (which all of his friends tease him for). His passion is ballet and he’s damn good at it. He is a Bi icon and has way too much internalized homophobia/biphobia for his health

Skye Bloom - my wife- She’s angery and tough and will Fight. She’s super protective of her friends/family and is unwilling to deal with your bullshit. She’s secretly the squad Mom and is much more caring and sweet then she would ever let on. She’s cynical and distrustful, but will do anything for the ones she cares about. She’s trans and a lesbian and very very in love with her smol girlfriend.

Ember Green - my other wife, and also Skye’s twin sister. She’s excitable and has ADHD and her mind runs a thousand miles per hour. She’s super sweet and encouraging and loves music and dancing and encouraging people to see the best in themselves. She’s confident in herself and her body and she doesn’t take any shit. She loves people and the world around her. She’s bisexual and is one of the people that helps Grech accept himself.

Cole Petit - a small ball of sass and spite. No joke this boy literally runs on spite. He certainly doesn’t take care of himself enough to run on actual energy. He has a lot of medical issues and since he isn’t physically fit he prides himself in being Smort and he can be kinda cocky in that area. He’s a huge nerd and he Never Hecking Sleeps. He’s trans and gay, as well as demisexual and demiromantic.

Leonardo Cadash - Leo is a fabulous and Extra motherfucker. He’s Irish and tbh kinda gossipy and the head cheerleader at his school. He and Ember are best friends and they love to dance together. He’s actually not sure of his gender identity and has been questioning it for a while, but knows he isn’t male. (He’s happy with any pronouns.) He’s gay as all hell tho.

Angel Killian - A SWEET PASTEL CHILD!! I love him so much. He’s a pastel king and wears makeup and has on point nails on and is just this ball of sweetness and optimism- Though he’s petty as fuck when he’s mad. He’s kind and super socially anxious and unless he’s really mad he usually keeps his thoughts to himself. His favorite artist is Dodie Clark and he loves cats, fuzzy blankets, and styling people’s hair and makeup. Also gay as hell.

Oli Lowe - Genderfluid and a punk icon. They’re curious and kind and a people-person. They preach self acceptance and love and are not afraid to fight you. Their honestly Extra as all hell and is also a huge fan of music and dancing. Their really good at reading people and being able to tell when someone is lying, and are outspoken and warm. They tend to make people smile just by being around them. Their a lesbian/attracted to women

James Hart - Grech’s boyfriend, autistic, Oli’s best friend, and the other punk icon of the team. He’s snarky and open-minded, and he’s quiet and observant. He’s funny and patient and positive. He’s blind, and has the terrifying ability to tell who’s approaching him by the sound of their walk. He uses finger guns a lot and is a romantic sap. Pansexual icon and has a passion for psychology and it’s related fields.

Last, but not least is my Dragon Age Origins Oc: Raven Tabris - This boy is honestly a Hecking mess and is grumpy, quiet, and closed off until you get to know him. He tends to get flustered when people pay him compliments and is reckless and pretty intense in battle. He’s also gay as hell and isn’t really sure who decided to give him the responsibility to save the whole world, but he’s sure they Fucked Up.EDIT: HECK I FORGOT ADRIENAdrien Colfer: This boy is a Big Nerd and he’s confused /constantly/. References usually go right the fuck over his head and he has a strange and very particular sense of humor, usually having to do with obscure memes. He’s extroverted and while most people know him, he doesn’t actually have that many friends. He’s super awkward and dorky and surprisingly athletic despite the fact he’s one of the clumsiest people alive. Probably not a surprise by this point, buuut he’s gay as hell

 continuing on from this post, because it was getting rather long. I continued with my Junior D&D Campaign, and we ended up finishing off the Here There Be Gerblins arc today! it was pretty awesome, tbh. Highlight, since some people were curious!

Alex, the dwarf- his player wasn’t able to make it today, so the rest of the party left him behind in Phandalin with Barry Bluejeans, because they were getting along well at the conclusion of the last adventure

they had acquired Stones of Farspeech (magical walkie-talkies) in the last adventure, so throughout the game, they kept sending him magical voicemails with updates on what hijinks they were getting up to. (one of the players actually recorded these voicemails, so we can play them back to him later on)

my personal favorite of these was just after they found his dead cousin somewhere in the cave they were exploring, looted his corpse, found some magic jumping boots, and then promptly called him up to taunt him about how he had missed out on it. iconic.

they took a liking to Killian immediately after she turned up. as I remember, the tabaxi girl (Sinon) lent her a spare crossbow when her actual crossbow got snapped, it was pretty cool

there was a particular moment when Sinon and Miner had made a death-defying scramble to the fantasy elevator at like 2 HP, and they hit the button to call the elevator..... and nothing happened for like 3 rounds. They were getting frantic with trying to find a way to get into the elevator and fight off the giant robot they were up against, but it just turned out that the elevator was taking a while to arrive

Sinon also took an intense disliking to Brian, the Black Spider- mainly because he would not stop calling her ‘darling’. This culminated in her backing him up against an bottomless pit, dabbing, and then rolling a 19 and kicking him backwards into the pit

“oh my god we forget to ask him where the loot was”

did i mention that the only way they could be encouraged to go on the quest in the first place was via vast bribes? yeah. Their only motivation is money, apparently.

they followed Gundren to the treasure vault, and my brother was the one to pick up Lup’s umbrella (acing his wisdom saving throw), so that’s going to be tons of fun to play out later on

Killian had just entered the treasure vault, and Gundren was getting really mad about her presence because of the whole dwarf-orc rivalry things, and also because there was No Treasure In The Vault. Sinon then delivered a fabulous rant about racism and how he was living in the past and stuff, but only made a 12 Intimidation check, and he didn’t listen.

she then proceeded to roll a Nat 20 and fucking deck him. it was glorious. 

this also resulted in him picking up the Phoenix Fire Gauntlet and beginning a rampage of fire-fueled terror. Slightly less glorious, but yeah

anyway, during the ride back to Phandalin to stop Gundren and retrieve that gauntlet, the party did a really serious attempt at trying to work out why a lot of what Killian was talking about was all static-ed out. There was some super inventive thinking involved here. This actually culminated in a game of charades that they got me to do in real life, and it very nearly worked too

I couldn’t remember that one orc kid’s name when they decided to rescue him from the scavenger’s cave, so I got them to make one up for me. They decided on calling him ‘Small Orc Child’ or ‘Smorc’ for short.

They got really into character when trying to calm Gundren down from his fire thing. Also, Sinon’s player seemed genuinely distressed when Barry Bluejeans got killed, which.... .... my cunning plan is working

when we left off, they were heading off to the moon

more soon hopefully. don’t know when we’re going to play next, but they seem invested in this story so far and they’re having fun

yes it did take me two days to regroup and be able to deal with the finale SO FUCKENIGN WHAT

the prophecy thingy is horrifying but kinda cool, i lov the director, im glad i never saw any fanart of THAT scene and uh..... carey being spun around by killian? iconic. 11/10 best scene so far. kudos to griffin for making candyland sound horrific, uhm YAY FUCK YEA THEY HIRED NOELLE !?!??! but the juice dont work on her anyways??? like i dont even... like the plot is v good but i dont even wanna speculate or smthn cuz i just wanna see how it reveals itself, im having more fun watching it unravel than think abt it myself which is v good imho

so im guessing the seven ppl are taako&lup as the twins, magnus as the lover, and then im fuckin lost im done i have no idea im just sad for maureen who seems to have been a gr8 mom, i hope lucas’ stitches heal well and BOY if sbdy doesnt put poor lil angus to bed (ITS FOUR AM) imma b angry

my overall verdict so far:

i liked the big reveal at the end of this arc a lot, with the astral plane and shtick, but (!!!) i liked the plot unravelling more in petals to the metal cuz it kept me more drawn in when it happened. crystal kingom felt a bit directionless at times, so.... it balanced out. ptm has the Journey and ck has the Reveal

im excited for the next one tbh

also travis calling the red robes ‘red hood’ ????? had me dying
