He’s hot, he’s cold, and he’s fast as hell!

I had fun working on this one because of how surprisingly challenging it was. Iida definitely pulls more weight in the interesting hero outfit department so finding a nice even ground between the two was more difficult than I would have thought. That said I believe I’ve found a nice middle ground between the two!

All-Mighty

Summary: All Might manages to take on the Dekusquad solo after an intense tickle assault done on him ft. Ectoplasm

AU where All Might never had the injury but still managed to make Izuku his successor

If there was something Toshinori had plenty of, it was patience. He had been buying his time, waiting for the precise moment when to strike his prey. He knew some would be trickier than others to make them fall into his trap since they were all on edge. But of course, the easiest ones had to be the victims who joined in.

So he targeted them first.

It was the day after a sleepover he had with the class and they had ganged up on Toshinori and tickle-tortured him, discovering one of his biggest secrets, and the ones who joined were sitting on the couch comfortably, watching anime, while also keeping an eye out for the pro. While they watched Kirby Right Back At Ya, they all made bets on when they'd be attacked, who would give first.

"I bet Iida will give first," Uraraka laughed. "You may look and act so tough but inside you're just like a little puppy, and as sensitive!"

"I am not," Iida chuckled as he glared. "Well, I think either of you three will give first. And neither Midoriya or Todoroki is the youngest."

"True," Todoroki chuckled as he blushed. "I have been known to give after a short period of time."

"But Uraraka is the most ticklish!" cooed the gravity girl as he petted the green bean, the boy blushing a bit. "And Iida, if you give, you give me 10 bucks!"

"What?! Why would I give you money?!" piped the glassed sonic.

"Because I need it for a new PS4 Game!"

"Forget it. Find 10 bucks somewhere else."

Shoto felt Izuku tug on his sleeve with a certain look in his eyes. "We should watch our backs." "You're right. We need to keep an eye out for All Might, not argue over money." he replied.

"Whatever," Iida huffed. "I can escape him! I'm a faster runner than all three of you!"

"He's an Pro Hero, Iida," Midoriya said. "Taller, stronger and faster than all four of us."

"Indeed."

The four all gasped sharply and jumped up, turning around to see none other than Ike standing directly behind them, grinning. "A-All Might," said Midoriya. "W-When did you..."

"Just now," replied the pro. "But I couldn't help but overhear you three talking about me. Now, Iida, why would you ever want to escape me?" As he slightly leaned in, all four took a step back.

"So you won't try and attack us!" Ingenium exclaimed nervously.

"Attack you?" Toshinori asked innocently, still grinning. "Now why would I attack you? I had no intention of doing so."

"Y-You don't?" said Todoroki.

"No, Todoroki-shounen." He then smirked wider. "But I am still going to get you."

"Run!" Midoriya screamed. Before Toshinori could grab them, they scattered across the upper deck and jumped down the stairs, spreading out across the dorms.

"Running is pointless, guys!" Toshinori said, going after the closest  then makes a move towards another. "So, Young Ochacco is hiding? Too bad!" He saw the gravity girl run past the stairs, slid the railings and scooped her up.

"H-Hey!" Uraraka exclaimed.

Holding The young girl tightly and firmly, Toshinori then also grabbed Izuku and Tenya and putting them in the same hand as Jet. "Now, where is the number 2's son gone?"

Shoto hid underneath the stairs, trying not to breathe too loudly, remaining completely still and not make a sound. However, the dust under the stairs made his nose tickle and he lightly sneezed.

Toshinori smirked and peered under the steps while dragging the peeps. "There you are," he said and quickly grabbed the icyhot with his left arm, hoisting him up carefully and let him cling on his right hand next to Iida, Midoriya, and Uraraka. "Now then...who would like to go first?"

"You said you wouldn't attack us!" Midoriya said.

"Exactly. I do not intend to attack you. I am precisely going to do to you what you four had done to me days ago," Toshinori explained.  Ectoplasm passed by as All Might asked for assisstance, the cloning pro agreeing as he duplicated Toshinori into 8. Four to hold them still. He later leaves as the All Might clones all are ready to wreck havoc.

"But, we only joined in because the others were doing it!" Iida said.

"Yeah, it looked like fun!" said Todoroki.

"And this will be fun for me. Now, since you four all tickled me at once, it would only be fair if 'I' tickled you all at once, with a bit of help!" Toshinori's clones  began to tickle them simultaneously. They all burst into laughter, wriggling and curling inward as the All Might clones had their hands danced and prodded over their bodies, getting their sides and stomachs, and Midoriya's socked feet since he was the only one without shoes on.

"BAHAHA! A-Ahahahahal Mihight!!! Stohahap!! N-nohoho more!" Iida gged as the pro clone had his left hand prodded his stomach, intesnely squirming

"Can't breathe, can't BREHEEHEEHEEATHE!" Midoriya guffawed as the clone's hands ran a finger along his sides, unable to squirm much for being in the middle of the bunch.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Stop it! N-NO MOHOHOHORE!" Todoroki said between giggles as the clone managed to lift his shirt up and tickles his 2nd death spot.

"EHEEHEHEHEEK! STOP!" Uraraka just squealed and giggled whenever the clone tickles in her sensitive area; she curled in when they tickled her sides and stomach.

"You may beg for mercy all you wish, young ones," Toshinori said, "but since I wasn't granted any mercy when I begged you four to stop, I shall punish you the same way." He ordered the clones to continue as the tickles continued his revenge ordeal on them for a few more minutes. By that time, they had all began crying from laughing so hard. The first ones to burst into tears from giggling were Izuku and Ochacco, then Shoto, and then Tenya. Yagi then decided it was time to stop and told the clones to stop. They ceased tickling the victims as they vanished due to the duration of Ectoplasm's quirk. Their laughter gradually died down and they breathed exhaustedly, still giggling a little and wiping their eyes and cheeks free of tears.

"No fair!" Midoriya cried childishly.

All Might chuckled. "I apologize for going too far. I guess I got carried away." He couldn't help but laugh as he watched Uraraka and Todoroki try to sit up but falls backward again, weak from giggling.

"It's alright," Iida said, breathing heavily.

Toshinori smiled. "Now, since you were my first victims, you can decide who I should go after next."

The people exchanged looks with equal grins and the four said the next victim's name in unison. "Bakugou, Kirishima, Mina, and Denki."

By the middle of their third year, before their final registration as sidekicks, all of UA’s third years get a second chance at choosing their identities. 

It’s definitely a blessing for many of them. Bakugou goes from King Explosion Murder to the much subtler ‘Ground Zero.’ Ashido decides that ‘Alien Queen’ was a much better moniker than ‘Pinky’ after all. It packed a lot more ‘oomph.’ Aoyama shortens his ‘I can’t stop twinkling’ to just ‘Twinkler’ which...Shouto isn’t sure if that could be considered better per se, but it certainly wasn’t worse.  

It makes sense, to allow the future aspiring heroes a second chance at choosing their brand instead of letting them be stuck with what their 14-year-old selves thought were cool. Shouto gets why it’s the talk of the class currently. 

What he doesn’t get is why everyone seems to think he needs to change his. 

“How about Icyhot?” Kaminari says in excitement, slamming down in the seat in front of him. Ever since Izuku’s workload at his new internship increased, Shouto’s lunchtimes have gotten lonelier. Nevertheless, Shouto doesn’t even deign to look up from his rice. 

“Oh, come on!” Kaminari continues, not one to be deterred. If Bakugou’s daily threats of dismemberment have never discouraged him, Shouto’s silence doesn’t really have any hope, after all. “People call you that all the time! Since that interview, you know!” 

Shouto knows. ‘The Icyhot Bastard’ (generously changed to ‘Hero’ by the media), so coined by one Bakugou Katsuki in the midst of a particularly volatile interview, where they discussed how Shouto had bagged a capture from right under Bakugou’s nose. The media’s taken quite a shine to it although Shouto honestly can’t fathom why.    

Bakugou’s nicknames tend to like the man himself. Rude, short and shallow.

“Icyhot! Icyhot! Ichyhot—”

Shouto drops his chopsticks into his nearly empty bowl and flexes his fingers. Kaminari straightens up a little, brow furrowed in concentration as he watches Shouto’s hands move.

D-U-N-C-E F-A-C-E

“Okay, maybe not,” Kaminari admits, deflated.

Shouto hums in agreement.

“Freezer Burn?” Uraraka is the next to suggest. 

Shouto pauses mid-attack, head tilted in consideration. 

“Yeah,” she continues in elation, both at the opening and at being the first to make Shouto consider a name instead of outright dismissing it. 

Uraraka chargers forward and aims a kick at his head. Shouto blocks it with his forearm and jumps back a safer distance.

“It’s like, I don’t know, a pun I guess? Brainfreeze, Freezerburn, or ooo! How about Frostfire—”

Shouto feints left before dropping down to a crouch abruptly, sweeping out a leg to trip Uraraka off her feet. A whistle blows, signalling the time. Shouto extends his hand.

“No good?” Uraraka asks, disappointed.

He shakes his head in commiseration. 

                                                            ---

“Hellfrost?” suggests Jirou who is somewhat sensible.

“Pretty Boy Dry Ice!” says Ashido who is nearly not as sensible and also possibly spending too much time with Aoyama.

“Medium Temperature,” Mineta offers with the sly grin on his face Shouto has never quite been able to understand.

“Thermal Equilibrium?” Ojiro follows, trying to make the most of a bad idea. This, from the person who’d named himself ‘Tailman.’

Shouto wonders if he should start carrying around a stamp, so that he could ink ‘REJECTED’ on everyone’s foreheads.

“Endeavor will be retiring soon, yes?” Iida asks in the library. 

Shouto grunts in acknowledgement, poring over his book. The final battle against the League of Villains had been hard, particularly harder on some than on others. If life were a storybook, this would be time Endeavor found the redemption he had craved from his family, his sins absolved with his injury and retirement, a narratively satisfying conclusion. 

“Endeavor is a good name,” Iida muses, almost as if to himself. “It means to continue struggling—or to strive for something, yes? If I’m not mistaken.”

Shouto freezes.

Don’t say it, Shouto thinks desperately. Ingenium is fine but don’t say this.   

“You could tr—”

“No,” Shouto rasps, voice hoarse. Discomfort claws at the back of his throat but still he repeats, firmly, “No.”

He snaps his book shut, shoving his things into his bag as fast as possible. His throat feels tight, his hands are clammy.  It’s ridiculous. He’s being so ridiculous. 

He leaves, staunchly ignoring Iida’s calls, never once looking back until he’s out of the library and back in the dorms, right in front of Izuku’s door. He slumps against the smooth wood, cool against his suddenly-too-warm forehead.

Life isn’t narratively satisfying.

Izuku got into the habit of leaving his door unlocked only a few weeks after they started dating. It’s mostly to accommodate Shouto and his bad habit of instinctively seeking out Izuku, whenever everything just gets to be too much. 

It should embarrass Shouto, how quickly and easily he caves into the need for comfort. But it doesn’t. He’s not even grateful to Izuku for his consideration, because he has never, not once, felt like a burden around him.

Izuku’s the exception to most things in Shouto’s life.

So that’s why he’s sprawled across Izuku’s bed, running his hand through the fuzzy All Might blanket to soothe himself. Iida hadn’t really meant anything by it, he knows. It isn’t Iida’s fault. But still, he feels discomfited and antsy. This week can’t end fast enough, in his opinion. Once everyone’s applications are submitted, Shouto will finally be free.   

He isn’t sure how long he lies there until the door opens, swinging inwards to reveal Izuku, leafing through sheafs of paper and humming to himself. He glances up at Shouto, smiles and says, “Hey, you,” and Shouto can already feel the tension leaving him.

“Long day?” Izuku asks as Shouto tucks his limbs back into himself to make room for his boyfriend on the single bed. Izuku, however, forgoes the space created in favor of sprawling across Shouto, head on his chest. He can’t say he minds.

Shouto gives a non-commital grunt, neither a yes or no. “Well, I’ve had a long day,” Izuku replies, huffing. Shouto only hums in response but that’s all Izuku needs before he’s launching into a spiel about the villain of the day, the police officers he’s met, the little girl who gave him a greeting card and the paperwork he has to finish. 

Shouto makes noises of curiosity and delight at the appropriate places, even though in reality he’s only slightly paying attention. He’s almost half-asleep, running his hand through Izuku’s hair this time, instead of the blanket, and that’s why it probably takes a while to really register the last thing Izuku has said.

“Hmm?” Shouto asks, hoping he’s heard wrong.

“I said,” Izuku lifts his head a little, so that his chin is digging into Shouto’s collar and his eyes are boring into Shouto’s, alight with a childlike enthusiasm that has Shouto’s stomach turning. “How about Entropy? It makes sense right? It’s not too on the nose, but it means the amount of thermal energy per unit available to do work—Shouto?”

He has no doubt that his despair must be showing on his face loud and clear. Izuku gapes at him for a moment, before scrambling off and sitting beside him on his knees, eyes peering at him with worry. “Shouto, are you okay?”

Shouto blinks at him, gut bubbling with anxiety, before slowly pulling himself into a sitting position.

“I—” he starts, then stops. “I d-don’t—”

“Hey, you don’t have to—” 

Shouto shakes his head vehemently and Izuku quietens. He has to spell this out, for Izuku at least, if no one else.

“I want...to be,” he starts haltingly. “I want to be...Shouto. Just...Shouto.” 

Not Icyhot or Frostfire or masterpiece or genius or pretty boy or Endeavor. He just wants to be. But he doesn’t have the words for all of that. 

“Just Shouto,” he mumbles again, eyes downcast. 

He startles when Izuku gently places his hand on his left cheek, thumb smoothing over the scarred flesh. “I’m sorry,” he says. BNHA Rewatch Season 1 Episode 5 “What I Can Do for Now”

Finally arriving at UA! Yay!

More of Bakugou and Deku being foils over their entrance exam points. I mentioned that before so I’ll stop now.

Deku and All Might meeting on the beach for cute dad-son antics! I want to read some fanfic set on this beach, BTW, because the manga comments it’s now ‘perfect for dates’. Of note: it’s called Dagobah beach, named after the planet where Luke trains with Yoda. Star Wars reference counter drinking game, initiate!

All Might being paranoid about people recognizing him is so odd in hindsight, given everything. The status quo has changed so much in only 63 episodes and a hundred or so chapters, it’s insane.

Deku starts at UA! The monologue he has is so confusing at first “36 students to a course” - basically, the 4 students that make up the remaining 40 are the recommendation students. It’s just unclear here.

Haha Deku dreading Kacchan and Iida being in his class. And now they’re each like, his closest friends in 1A. Yes, even Bakugo. Irony! I love it.

The seating arrangement is all out of order here! I’ve practically memorized the normal seating chart for 1A (most of my ships sit next to each other, so of course I did), and they’re not sitting there here. Did they just sit down wherever and Aizawa corrected them later? (Never mind, I think it’s right...)

Aizawa makes his entrance - this was spoiled for me ahead of time by a youtube vid, some guy mentioning all the details in BNHA’s background characters and highlighting how delightfully odd it is that Aizawa is in a sleeping bag outside the door.

Aizawa’s quirk apprehension test is odd, considering his own quirk wouldn’t be much use for any of these things. But he did place Momo in first, so I assume he did indeed know what he was doing.

Bakugo is so much calmer and more collected in his early appearances. It’s hard to remember because nowadays he screams at anything, but early Kacchan is much more cocky and subdued. Probably because his confidence hadn’t yet been shattered by IcyHot and Deku beating him.

Love rewatching the introductions to everyone’s quirks! It’s weird seeing these intros, as nowadays we tend to get them more for new side characters; seeing the Main Players getting introduced this way is bizarre.

Lots of characters getting great scores on the quirk app test. I still don’t understand how Mineta and Hagakure scored higher than Deku, who is ripped and fast even without OFA and did well on the ball toss. Aizawa’s introduction is badass here, BTW.

Kacchan yelling about Deku being quirkless is so hilarious knowing what’s coming next. Setup for world to shatter in 3...2...1...

You say Run, in full! Down that drink (I notice that they play it at the climax of 4 EPISODES IN A ROW from episode 4 to episode 7. And it’s amazing every time! it’s like, the most well written hype music ever created. It works for anything.) 

Deku figures his way around the problem with his hero smarts and regulation! OMG  I love him so much. One of my favorite things about Deku is how smart and creative he is. He’s strategic and when he puts his mind to it, he’s the fastest thinker on the show. And that determined look, I can’t. No wonder All Might and Aizawa are both fanboying over him right now.

BKDK Corner:

Bakugou is really salty about Deku in this episode. His “grand plans” for UA are something from early on that kinda got dropped. It is fun to edit him looking like he’s jealous of Uraraka getting all close and personal with Deku here. Kacchan’s angry jealous glare. 

Anyway, though, great to see Deku telling him to go f himself. More politely than that, anyway. As early as episode 5 Deku was standing up to Kacchan, but filler still makes it look like he’s terrified of the guy. Please. Also this flashback just sort of stops. What happened next? We may never know! 

I guess most of this stuff isn’t all that shippy, but I do like the small details, like how Bakugou cares more about Deku’s score than his own on the app test and Deku has completely gotten over his nervousness around him. I seriously spent the entirety of these three episodes on my first run-through patiently waiting for Bakugou to find out the truth and see his reaction, and he did not disappoint. (neither did he disappoint when he finally figured out the whole truth. Goddamn. That episode...just wait, 56 more episodes left...)

So I’m watching Nerve and obv I’m gonna take the entire idea and insert my bnha otp-BakuDeku 😘. For a little premise: Nerve is an online game in which “players” live stream them doing dares that “watchers” come up with. Here’s how my boys come in.

Izuku is a super shy, very reserved person that is everyone’s cinnamon roll and would never even THINK of doing something risky

BITCH YOU THOUGHT

“Deku” is one of the highest ranking players of Nerve and everyone watching him cuz there is no dare that he won’t do

Part of his charm is the fact that Deku hides his identity beneath a mask (insert his hero costume)

I like to think that some of the Dekusquad are also ridiculously willing to do dangerous dares-I mean come one, Todo and Iida went against Stain and the former was ready to throw paws with the chief of police

Usernames are, respectively, “IcyHot” and “Ingenium”

On the flip side, we’ve got Katsuki-a grumpy, bad mouthed, surly personality guy that ACTUALLY would not do something as stupid as play Nerve

Bakusquad has no such qualms

In ranking the least-to most dangerous dares Bakusquad does: Kirishima, Denki, Sero, Mina

No one expects Sero to be more daring than Denki, but his par core skills keep him confident to speed away from sticky situations

ANYWAY, I think that Bakugo gets into Nerve only because the ‘squad keeps freakin out over some Deku and our boy gets curious

Now, I think Baku would become a player because of two potentials

One of the Bakusquad doesnt finish their own dare and Katsuki takes over

Bakugo feels some kind of NEED to meet n beat this Deku guy

I’m feelin that, at first, “Lord Explosion Murder” and Deku are just competing with eachother BUT

Soon enough the watchers want to see these two players teamed up and doing dares together

Dare examples: kiss a stranger for 5 seconds, steal a car, punch that guy over there, streak down the street w/o clothes, etc.

I see the two boys meeting while Lord Explosion has a dare to ask out some nobody named Izuku buuuuuuuut Izuku, so flustered and awkward, doesn’t get the chance to answer cuz “THERE I fuckin asked the guy. Give me a REAL shitty dare”

HOWEVER Deku later gets a dare to ask out the volatile, new player Lord Explosion and is such a mf sexy, smooth, flirt that Baku just falls for him

Obv the two are gonna fall in love and maybe??? quit the game and bunny hop off into the sunset

Now, the movie Nerve has like a whole serious “you feel safe behind a screen/social media steals your identity” message but I just wanna see the kids doing stupid and/or risky dares and BakuDeku doing fallin in love along the way.
