maybe its JUST me but I hate how often ninjago has to rely on "world-ending evil" each season, because seriously how can you go higher than that in the next season?

We all know that Will's prone to freezing and fleeing as opposed to fighting (who can blame him) and this is consistently not an issue. In fact, the two only times he didn't run he was taken/taken over by an eldritch monster. That's like. The worst thing that could possibly happen. The characters talk about how he's good at running and he's great at hiding and this is all purely GOOD. Nobody faults him for this and truly, nobody seems to even notice.
We open in on st4 and we can see Will is struggling with El being bullied, in the way that he can't help and it's crushing him. Nobody else notices, nobody cares. He has a problem with this. It's negative to him. And so, narratively, he has to overcome it. He feels guilty and powerless and weak and he's going to have his st5 moment. He will help her.

things i like a lot about japan so far:
-on a trip-by-trip basis train travel is easy, efficient, and takes me a lot farther than i would’ve been able to get on my own in america!
-even my little residential neighborhood is totally walkable with tons of convenience stores and shops, little parks scattered around, and a big train station within easy walking distance
-all businesses are making the shift to reusable shopping bags (”eco bags”)! you bring your own and tons of shops sell cute ones. obv there’s tons of single-use plastic still but this is the standard
-this is an obvious one but every single convenience store having a variety of tasty/filling meals, sandwiches, snacks, and pastries
-whatever product you’re buying (hand towels, bath mats, coin purses), there’s a cute version readily available to buy too
things i do not like about japan so far:
-the sky is completely dark by 6 every night
-if you miss a crosswalk or a turn while walking somewhere you have to turn around. streets aren’t laid out in a way that makes rerouting easy at all (which kinda makes sense in the suburbs but even in downtown tokyo? was not prepared for this at all)
-everybody jokes like “you don’t like michigan’s weather? it’s okay wait 5 minutes it’ll change” but i legitimately haven’t had a day here where it hasn’t started raining out of nowhere
-it’s not only heat-hot in the summer but crazy ridiculous humid hot. there are a lot of products that help with it but i keep getting home and trying to make the shower colder only to find i’m showering in tap-cold water already
-trash sorting system

DIRECTORS COMMENTARY PLEASE I LOVE HEARING YOUR THOUGHTS AND PROCESS <3!!!!!!!!
YEAHHH lots to say for this update
there's a scene I didn't so much as cut from the beginning of this update as significantly shorten: Wolf, Loft, Wake, and Slate are changing into their lighter outfits. Loft says the same line as having the party, Wake begs them for this one day with his Gran Gran, and they all agree they can wait. I've been trying to get better about like, not putting a ton of work into unnecessary connecting scenes, which is why I cut it down. Wake sounding more cavalier also works better for the overall chapter. But i was sad to leave this joke out lol:
may I present to you, Slate's picture gallery! he was mostly on task documenting flora and fauna but he gets a little sidetracked sometimes
I love the idea that he's just, like, kind of terrible at photography. he documents stuff for Zelda and it's always weirdly cropped and kind of out of focus, but she appreciates it anyway.
Slate is also picking flowers for the party! so he is still helping out on that front lol
idk if i've mentioned this before, but beetle does still have pincers! they're just. idk what the right word is. retractable maybe? yeah. like the ancient weapon blades
the filling of the half moon pies is pineapple :-) i was. so worried about it looking like an egg HAHA.
I thought way too hard about how they were going to cook these pies. I was originally going to draw a clay oven or some other setup, but ultimately I thought the Zelda tradition of only having pots over fires to cook was a funnier nod lol. So, they're frying the pies
believe it or not, I wrote this scene before reading dungeon meshi HAHA but it certainly served as good reference for how to set up shots for it
Aryll did in fact eavesdrop on Wake telling Tetra The Situation
That's Champion's little sister in the memory! I like the headcanon that her name was also Aryll.
Champion and his sister are making meat pies instead of pineapple ones.
One again, made a bunch of layout mistakes I ended up having to fix, except this time I didn't catch them until I had already gotten to rendering :-( if you're a patron, you probably saw these versions in the WIP:
problems here: Wolf is walking the wrong away. I was sad we'd be losing his expression but alas. And for the panels with Champion's sister, the angle is too low to be an actual POV shot. I could've left it and said he's just sitting or something probably but it was really bothering me lol so I redrew everything. and then recolored all of it. woof.
as a general rule, if he has scars, that's Slate. No scars is The Other Guy
I understand the complaint about this in BOTW, but I actually kind of like that weird moment that occurs after you finish a memory cutscene, and it just abruptly goes back to Link looking blank-faced like nothing happened. It implies this kind of....distance from the memories that I find interesting. Slate has complicated feelings abt the memories of Champion's life he gets, but like. there's pies to make
shout out to peony she's a real one

Little Girl Gone
Little Girl Gone / T.S. (pt. 1)
part two: here
Synopsis: Having been several years since you’d last seen your favorite gangster family, you return to Small Heath a changed woman with a stronger attitude than you had when you left.
information: this will be a multi part story! idk how many parts exactly, but there will be more!
warnings: none for this chapter!
please leave all comments and reccommendations below! thank you for reading!
“Aye, what does a woman have to do to get a whiskey around here?”, you shouted, rapping your hand on the bar counter.
You were seated at The Garrison, it was your first stop back in town. You had lived in Small Heath most of your early life, but five years ago you were forced to leave due to your fathers death and your mothers general distrust (and dislike) of the Shelby family. Your mother had kicked you out a few days ago, claiming that you were old enough to be married now, and that she wouldn’t stand for you staying in her house if you weren’t going to look for a husband.
“Calm down Lady, I’ll- Holy Shit! Y/N, what are you doin’ back!”, a man's voice rang out, making you and the rest of the bar look in his direction.
Arthur Shelby had always been one of your favorite Shelby siblings, and for good reason. He was loud, funny, and typically a gentleman if you caught him on the right day. You leaned over the bar and wrapped your arms around his neck, nearly bruising him in the process. You had hoped your whole journey here that he would be the first Shelby you saw, and luck had worked out for you this time.
“Arth, I am sure glad to see you! It’s been a long time, aye?”, you spoke, removing your arms from him and sitting back on your barstool.
“Hell, it’s been about, what, five years? You don’t show your face around these parts for five fuckin’ years and then you just come back?”, he said, staring you in the face, with a somewhat more serious look in his eye than you had expected.
‘Yeah, had some family troubles, but I’m back for good now,” you swallowed, “how's all the Shelby’s doin’?”
“Eh, the usual. Tommys about to run himself ragged, Pol acts like she owns us all, I’m workin’ here now, I actually own the place!” he said, spilling out most of that information in one breath.
You took a quick survey of the bar, noticing how the decor and table setup had changed since you’d seen it last. The floor was still the same sticky, slimy feeling though.
“Glad to see you doing well, Arth. Now, please get me a whiskey an i’ll be outta your way!” you spoke, glad to have reunited with Arthur, but not glad to have been out in public this long.
“Ah, ah. If you think I’m letting you get out of here without seein’ Tom, you’re messed in the head!” He joked, but as you watched him move towards the window to the private room, you realized he wasn’t joking.
You had not come prepared to see Thomas. He was the only one who never got a goodbye, even though the rest of them didn’t know they were goodbyes at the time. When you were being forced to leave, you managed to sneak over to Watery Lane and have one last conversation with all the Shelbys before you left, and you never told them you were leaving that night. Thomas had been on business, but got home a few minutes after you left. You had regretted not speaking to him then, but now that regret had turned into a fear after hearing about the man he had become while you were away. You had heard things about Thomas Shelby, and they were not things any girl would like to hear about her long-time crush.
‘Oy, that Tommy Shelby is a real whore’
‘I heard he gets around Small Heath like its a full time job’
‘He pays them ya know? Every girl he fucks gets paid, even if theyre not workin’ for it!’
Those were all just some of the things you had heard, and those weren’t even the things you had heard that were related to his newfound habit of murdering those who crossed him. You’ve had your eyes on Tommy Shelby ever since you were 16. Now aged 21, it had been a long enough time that you realized what kind of person you needed to settle with, and logically, he wasn’t it.
While this entire catalog of thoughts was running through your head, your eyes watched as Arthur got closer and closer to that window. You knew you weren’t ready to see him yet, if you ever would be. So acting on those primal prey instincts, you ran. You hopped off the barstool, and started pushing your way through the crowd of bar patrons, finally having the door insight. You wrapped your hand around the handle, and pulled it open. Stepping into the cool air of the night, you took a deep breath and closed your eyes as you closed the bar door behind you. Just as you were stepping away from the door to begin your walk to the apartment you were renting, you bumped into something, or rather, someone.
“Thought I’d let you run from me a second time, aye?”
Fuck.
Fuck.
“I-I-”, you stammered, not having any idea what to say, now that you were staring at the face of one Thomas Shelby.
“It’s okay, I’d be nervous too if I ran into someone I left in the dust five years ago.”, he laughed, letting a puff of cigarette smoke roll out of his mouth.
“Tommy, how did you even know I was out here? I watched Arthur and left before he even opened the window, I don’t underst-”
“Shh. I have my ways, ya know I have my ways.” he spoke, that cool, gravelly voice still hadn’t changed, even after all this time.
You finally looked up at him, releasing the death stare you had on his chest. He was more handsome now, if that was even possible. His dark hair styled perfectly, like he had touched it up before meeting you outside. His hat was missing, which was a rare occurrence, but you were enjoying the unobstructed view of his face. He was lean, only muscle was visible through his white shirt, and his pants hugged his legs perfectly. He was beautiful, especially in the face. You could see more defined freckles in the glow of the street lamp, along with more defined lines carved into his forehead. You continued to study his face, while his studied yours. You had definitely matured in your time away, but not only on your face. Your lips had gotten fuller, cheek bones more pronounced, and hair longer; but you had also grown tits and an ass. You knew you had assets, and fully planned on using them to your advantage, just not on Tommy Shelby.
“My God, Y/N, I’d say you grew up…”, he trailed off, eyes looking all over your face and body.
“Yeah, that tends to happen to people as they age, Tom.” you laughed, feeling suddenly insecure as you stood under his microscope.
“What are ya doin’ back in town? I imagined you ran off and got married or somethin’,” he spoke, “But, I don’t see a ring on that finger so either that can’t be right or you married a poor bastard.”
“Not married Tom, never was. It’s part of the reason I’m back in town, but-”
“What are ya doin’ tomorrow evening?”, he cut off, not even letting you finish explaining how you didn’t want to talk about it right now.
“Nothing I know about, why?”, you asked, having no idea what was about to come out of that pretty mouth of his.
“Join me for dinner, yeah? I’d love to sit down and have a chat with ya, but I got to go handle some business right now.”, he spoke, suddenly sounding strained.
“Uh, I guess I’ll get dinner with ya, where at?”
“My place, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow at 6, Goodnight, Y/N.” Tom spoke, brushing shoulders with you lightly as he passed by, heading back into The Garrison.

I feel like if Noa was literally anything more "human" like idk, even a werewolf, there would be absolutely no question that his love interest is Mae. The setup, the tension, the complexity, Wes Ball himself saying they are the center of this story...come on.
It seems perfectly plausible to me that Wes Ball wants something to happen between them but the money men in suits told him, ‘don’t even think about it,’ so in that situation he might have said, ‘well, maybe I can’t make it explicit, but I don’t need to for it to get into people’s heads lol.’
Anyway, beyond what Ball said, the story is clearly set up so that the main conflict rests on their relationship and how it will develop through the events to come. This isn’t Caesar having a human companion per movie; Mae is designed to be present throughout the entire saga and to be its deuteragonist. I think that makes it pretty clear what the intentions are, regardless of how far Hollywood allows them to go.

"I'd make a great boyfriend!"
Jungkook x Reader
Summary: A typically chaotic evening with your best friend leads to a slightly unexpected conversation.
Warnings: swearing, a few suggestive jokes, not proofread
A/N: Thanks to the lovely anon who requested this!
I don't quite know where this was going, it kinda feels like the setup for a F2L, but idk, I hope you like it anyway.

Requests are open

Friday nights with Jungkook were one of your favorite things, no more stress about work or
school, just you and your best friend trying to beat each other’s high scores at video games or
karaoke and marathoning whatever film or shows you were both obsessed with at the moment.
Tonight was no different, you and Jungkook were three rounds into a Smash bros tournament
when he slumped back on the sofa next to you after losing to you yet again.
“Agh, screw this, I’m hungry.” Jungkook whined.
“How is that my problem?” You asked.
“You distracted me and I forgot to eat.” He said, pouting at you.
“Your adhd is not my fault.” You replied, getting up anyway with a groan. “What do you want to
eat?”
“Hmm,” He thought for a moment before smirking up at you. “You wanna have ramen?”
You shot him an unamused look. “If this is like when you asked me about meeting your cat, I will
kick your ass.”
“I’ll just stick with the ramen then.” He replied, also getting to his feet.
Which is how you ended up in your current predicament of cooking ramen at twelve thirty at
night, which wouldn’t be that bad if you didn’t have Jungkook who insisted on trying to teach you
one of his ‘famous’ ramen recipes.
“This is way too many steps! I thought the whole point of ramen was that it’s easy!” You
complained, watching as he chopped veggies for the soup.
“That’s cause you don’t have the creative vision I have.” He insisted, nodding to the pantry. “Can
you grab one of the spicy noodle packs for me?”
“Fine.” You responded, familiar enough with his kitchen at this point that you could find them
almost without looking.
When you turned back around, he had removed his hoodie, leaving him in a t-shirt that showed
off his impressive collection of tattoos.
“Stop staring.” He remarked, catching your eyes on him.
“You should get a tattoo of the Buldak bird.” You suggested, poking his arm as you rejoined him
at the stove.
“First of all, his name is Hochi, and secondly, no.” He responded, taking the packet from you.
“Why not? Think of the brand deal, we could get so much free ramen!” You said.
“That’s not how brand deals work. Also who is ‘we’?!” He asked, struggling to open the sauce
packet.
“Well, it was my idea, so I should get a percentage of the royalties.” You explained, leaning over
to help at the exact moment he finally managed to tear it open with slightly too much force,
resulting in a small splatter of the bright red mix to land on your shirt.
“Kook!”
“Shit, I’m sorry!” He apologized, scrambling to clean you up. “Here, if I put it in the wash quickly,
it shouldn’t stain, let me get you something else to wear.” He said, grabbing his previously
discarded hoodie and offering it to you.
You thanked him and quickly ducked into the bathroom to change, tossing your sweater out the
door to him before pulling the dark material of his hoodie over yourself, the fabric absolutely swamping you, the lingering scent of his
cologne mildly comforting.
By the time he returned to the kitchen, you were already dividing the food out into bowls.
He paused, studying you for a moment before coming to slump against your back in what
almost resembled a hug, looping his arms loosely around your middle.
“What are you doing?” You asked, bumping your elbow back against him.
“Giving you affection?” He replied, propping his chin on your shoulder.
“Eww, why?”
“I dunno, you just look cute in my clothes and I wanted to.” He shrugged.
“I didn’t look cute before?” You questioned, side eyeing him.
He groaned. “Will you let me have my moment, I’m trying to like you.”
“Excuse me?!” You asked incredulously.
“I was just testing it out.” He muttered, following you as you moved about the kitchen, tightening
his grip to ensure no separation between the two of you.
“Why though?”
“I wanted to see what it felt like.”
“And?”
“I think you ask too many questions. Ack!” He teased, earning a pinch that made him jump back,
releasing his hold on you.
“Just eat your food and leave me out of your weird little fantasies.” You remarked, handing him a
bowl before moving to sit at the counter.
“They’re not weird!”
“Sure.” You said sarcastically.
“They’re not! What, you never thought about what it would be like to date me?” He asked.
“Nope.”
“Liar.”
“Why would I lie about that?” You exclaimed.
“Because Jimin told me you used to think I was cute.”
“That motherf-'' You gritted your teeth.
“So?” He tilted his head at you.
“So what? Thinking you’re cute is different than considering dating you.” You pointed out.
“I’d make a great boyfriend though!” He insisted.
“I’m sure you would be, but not for me!” You said sharply.
“Okay, fine!” He said, copying your tone.
For a few minutes, that seemed to be the end of it as you both ate in silence.
“How’re the noodles?” He asked quietly.
“Really good, actually.” You admitted.
“Imagine having a boyfriend who’s a good cook.” He mumbled, making you drop your fork in the
dish with a loud clang.
“Would you stop?!” You whined, making him snicker.
“Oh c’mon, that was a little funny.” He said between laughs.
“When are you gonna let this go?”
“Probably never.” He said with a smug grin.
You rolled your eyes. “Then I’ll just have to start using some of the dirt Jimin told me about you.”
His laughter stopped almost instantly, eyes going wide. “Why, what’d he tell you?”
“I think it’s more fun if I keep you in suspense.”
You smirked.
“Y/n!”
In truth, you didn’t have anything on him, but he didn’t need to know that.
Not yet anyway.

I just read through the Link Click manhua and how tf did they make them seem even more like a couple in this than in the show - frankly, it's impressive
Like Lu Guang was on top of that. He doesn't even really cook, but as soon as he got the inkling that there was food, he was like 'on it, boss🫡' and made them without being asked. Truly husband vibes right there
Then this... man did not have to stand like that to ask him this. He moved purposefully behind him so he could put his hands on either side of his head and look at him like that. I showed this to my friend and she said all it was missing was a forehead kiss - and I'm inclined to agree - the secret panel not shown lmao
Then, of course, the thing of Lu Guang being concerned over him having nightmares. Like he's just worried about him - idk what else to say
And then this scene where Cheng Xiaoshi is literally acting like a jealous boyfriend. He's like 'what do you mean new friend? We spend all day together'
Then this scene is absolutely insane... like I have been thinking about this since I read it. Out of context it is so wild. Like, first of all, Cheng Xiaoshi being concerned about him and bringing him food (sharing the dumplings that Lu Guang made for him too), but then, Lu Guang goes, 'I have to tell you something', grabs his wrist, pulls him into the room, and shuts the door. The door shutting is honestly the big thing - like Lu Guang, my guy, you are alone in the studio with him. Presumably it's closed too if you're both upstairs, and even if someone did come in, you have an automatic doorbell that goes off so you'd be able to tell. In context, I don't even think it's that secretive of information... It genuinely feels like a setup for a love confession

can you elaborate on why (even if the sarcastic intent is obvious) joking about child marriage/attraction is less objectionable than joking about fatness? (to be clear, i think they're both objectionable and am not trying to dismiss concerns about fatphobia)
i mean they are both the same kind of joke, right? the most basic subversion of expectations irony, where someone says something that they know is absurd and the joke is that they're saying an absurd thing. "look at me, i'm saying the thing i know is wrong, and the joke is how wrong and bad it is". yknow the sort of joke I do a lot on this blog, where i sarcastically say shit like, idk "its Good and Awesome, to be killed withj various types of weapons and hurting implements" <- archetypal txttletale post
so saying "i want to marry my fictional teenager beacuse she is so fat and i find that hot" is fatphobic not because it is 'joking about fatness', but because the structure of the joke requires that the intended audience (and therefore by implication, the jokemaker) takes as baseline fact that 'finding someone fat attractive' is inherently ridiculous and absurd, that we understand that the 'real' opinion that the irony is being contrasted to is that nobody finds fat people attractive.
meanwhile i don't think it's, like ''pedophilic'' because yknow thats part of the same joke setup, the joke is structured exactly the same, the intended understanding is that we all think it is ridiculous and laughable to lust after a thirteen year old fictional character. yknow you can feel however you want about that kind of joke, i dont really care, but the joke implies that both hussie and the implicit audience of the joke have a negative opinion of both fatness and child marriage, one of these is an objectionable thing to have a negative opinion about and the other isn't.
