There's nothing else on this earth I'm capable of doing, why not continue it even if its bad. I love your young!Rose design with the braids & hair beads, it reminds me of the Black girls i knew in elementary school (2005-2011), so its deffo “period accurate” and also a delightful choice. The way you draw the human kids in general is really nice, youre really good at conveying specific features with minimal lines (like her & Mom’s nose shape). Do you have any tips for how you draw faces to make them not same-face or repetitively “white” features, especially when drawing in a less “realistic” style (i dont wanna say your style is cartoony but idk what i would call it tbh)? I took a life drawing class back in 2019 but we mostly drew the same two models or our classmates, and it was both a limited pool of features plus feels hard to translate into art that isnt attempting to be 100% realistic.

Sorry if this is rambly. Congrats on 10k. Love ur new icon, tho i miss the Horb. Do you take commissions? I think i asked this before but i forgetful af.

thank you for the ask :)!! i'm really flattered that you think i'm good at avoiding same-face syndrome because i am VERY LAZY when it comes to drawing and i could definitely be doing a better job ;^^ i'm also not the best at drawing people diversely(?), it's just something i have to get better at. there are people way more qualified than me to give advice about this... but i can try giving some tips

the first is that, like with anything, if i'm not confident that i can accurately portray something or a specific feature i will usually look up a reference. i like paying attention to things like the position of the browbone, height of the cheekbones, shape of the chin, shape of the eyes, length/width of the face, width of the nostrils, shape/position of the bridge of the nose, roundness of the cheeks, etc. when i draw characters (specifically the homestuck characters i like, because i think about them a lot) i have an idea in my head of how they look and how they differ from one another. for example i see jade with a longer diamond-shaped face while rose has a shorter heart-shaped face, so i do my best to depict that in my drawings

(idk if this illustration makes ANY SENSE bc like i said i think that i also struggle with pushing myself in regards to this and i think i still have more to learn/practice)

i think it comes down to paying attention to the proportions/types of specific facial features and adjusting them each to create a unique face

that said when it comes to stylizing what you see from photographic references, i understand that it can be tricky to simplify it. i really don't have any advice for this.... i just play around with it until it looks good while also being recognizable as the specific thing i'm trying to draw.......... so in that case i think it helps to use other people's art as a reference too! i don't really care about sticking to one "style" so i don't mind drawing in a slightly different way if i want to do something another artist is also doing. so for example if you're struggling with drawing 4c hair i recommend looking at other people's drawings of characters with 4c hair that you like and playing around with if you can incorporate their techniques into your own art.

i hope this all made sense ;^^ there are definitely a lot of tutorials out there that are way more informative than this one

also, to answer your last question, i plan to open up a few commission slots next week! (as long as i have enough time to that is)

Would just like to say i think my fav art thingy of yours is the animation of jimmy picking up tango in double life. Idk how you did it but its so smooth and fluid i just wanna clench it in my fist like a slime toy. The movement looks realistic and cartoony at the same time and justaaar g sjabksndbsbabs. I wanna burn it into my eyes its so good

Being a flat plane helped, but the real secret is I animated the tail separately. So it's actually smoother and more consistent than the rest of the animation and thus makes it look smoother than it actually is thanks to its importance to the flow of the motion. (Tango's tail, being a line with a tuft at the end, is both incredibly easy to draw repeatedly and also easy to animate smoothly and satisfyingly)

22. do you have a favorite color palette to work with?

not explicitly??? like when i do colour i dont rlly think of palettes i think about the individual objects and their colours and how i think the lighting of the scene would affect it. if im going for a more realism approach. however my fav colours are red and black so i like to use those a lot :3 specifically in my designs if u cant tell jdbcjkbdj<33 if im doing smth more cartoony tho ill use colours in relation to the emotions n mood im trying to convey in a specific peice, im a big fan of the phenomenon where colours are perceived differently when next to other different colours so i like to mess around with a lot of monochrome-ish palettes as well!

28. whats a piece you would like to redraw at some point?

ooo this is kinda a tough one, ermmmmm !! idk if i have like one piece that id rlly wanna redraw but i like the idea of redrawing a lot of my older drawings, to see my growth n whatnot u kno<3

Chapter 1: A new friend in the village ! :O

Note:this is my first ever fanfic ,after I saw "come be lonely with me" which inspired me to make this along with some other that I don't know the names of anymore,grammar things will be corrected along the way, also don't expect it to be too long, or updated daily, see the end for more notes:) also don't expect it to make sense;-;, and if restinisodaroni sees this idk what to think… (P.S. she is my favorite) .

You just arrived at a village with a big daycare that somehow hosts animatronics? Ehh you don't really question it, looking around while in your car trees surrounding the road, you're nearly there. ____________________________

You are in a small grass field that cars appear to park in, so you do as well. You see the big house that has a sign reading" Superstar Daycare" it has a playground and lots of toys scattered around. Inside it seems dark. _______________________________

You enter the daycare and leave your bag on the near counter outside at the entrance then go in. It's very silent, the roof is filled with stars and a big moon, this place is really big for a small village. _______________________________

You wander around the daycare if you can even call it that, at first it looks bigger than expected, it has lots of clouds on the side and the floor is green like a field in the dark. You wonder where the animatronics in here are, you saw at the entrance two celestial-like cartoony figures that looked like a sun and a moon.

Some time later as you wander around you hear creaks from the other side where the structures are and something lurking in the big area with bars. Later on you decide to go through a hallway with the sign saying "Naptime Corner", huh that is convenient if you wanted a quick nap as well from all the long driving.

You step in and see some children sleeping on the floor, and try to be quiet to not wake any of them… Putting the phone away was a mistake, you could've used its flashlight right now.

You hear a creek and turn around to meet with white eyes on a slender figure, before you yelp it wraps its arms on your mouth. "Don't be scared friend, we won't hurt you! ", it says in a low tone, you observe it has some rays around its head ,some fluff pants, and green bracelets on it's arms,and some leaves attached to its body in random spots,with some drawings on his face, then it has to crouch down to your level, of course…

After some time you calm down, and then it lets go of your mouth, finally. " Sorry for scaring you, heh, wasn't expecting you to come here so early, your job says that it's not time yet, why are you here? "It tilts its head to the side waiting for your answer.

You sigh and say" Wait, wait, waittt, who are you? "Your question brings him out of his endless gaze" Oh how rude of me, I'm Sun, but you can call me however you want! " Sun… . Interesting not like it's original…. (-_-) .

"Well, Sun…..I'm y/n ,nice to meet you, " you pause then rub your neck"I'm just here to see this daycare before being your good ol' new kind of… management's helper? I don't know what to call myself, but please don't think I'd say something mean! ".Then there was silence…

"Oh don't worry ,I won't take it like that Sunshine! I already know you won't be mean! You look so cute you can't be mean! " Sun says to break the awkward silence, you then stare, never got a compliment, huh? . _______________________________

After a few moments another shadow appears behind him, must be Moon "Sun what are you doing? -" Moon growled then looked at you and chuckled "Oh they're here already? So early too? Must be really worried not to be late then! " it holds back its laughter to not wake up the children.

"Well what can I say, I'm only here to check everything out and make sure nothing's wrong" they looked at each other then at you again.

"You... You think we need your help? " Moon chuckled, "hey don't be like this! They're trying to do their job like us! " Sun added scolding Moon, but he just wandered off leaving you with Sun.

Sun turned to you "Sorry he's just really grumpy meeting new people, but he'll warm up to you in no time" he said looking rather awkward having to crouch. "And I'm sure you'll be good friends with everyone here! Even Moon! " he added. _________________________________

After some time you settled in, naptime was over and the kids woke up as Sun handed them energizing candy, then they started the fun for Sun to clean afterwards, tho just for like a few hours(3-4 hours) before naptime again since they tire out easily.

"Hello, Mr. Y/n! " Hearing a girl ,of course you introduced yourself already, you straightened up from the desk after you tried to read your book, "Hey kid? What is it? " you crouched down and patted her head "Can you draw with us? Pleaseee? " she begged you literally, you couldn't refuse "Okay I will! " You chuckle and follow her to the kids tables, the chairs are too small so you cross your legs. "So what do we draw today? " you say as you wait "Whatever you want Mr. Y/n! We just wanted to include you too! Celestia said she saw you looked pretty lonely, and also my name is Maria! " she said ,quickly handing you some crayons.

"Well Maria I'll draw something with you ,but after I'll go back to my shift, okay? " she nodded, you start to think about what you'll draw. Got an idea, you draw a Sun over a cliff and some ocean waves. ___________________________________

"Okay I'm done, let me see yours too! " you say and she nods, then you flip them to each other to see, she drew you and Sun holding hands"Look Mr. Y/n I drew you and Mr.Sun together! " she chuckled and you did as well, how cute that is.

You see Sun being tackled by some kids, then excuse yourself and get up, approaching him, you hear kids saying things like "Yeah, put it there too, and that one there! ".

You stop a few feet from him, he is full of stickers all over his body, you sigh and raise your finger "Now, kids, that's enough, I'll take care of it, now go play something not including this! " you scold them, and they all go in different directions, you see Sun has stickers over his eyes too, heh. "Hey, there bud, need some help? " You say and peel off some stickers from his face plate, he looks confused, you're pretty close, how doesn't he mind?...

"Oh, yeah thanks Sunshine! You're really kind! " he says, making you feel some butterflies, after a minute you snap out of it and get up.

"Oh, no problem Sunnyboy, just don't let them put stickers on your face again, it looks bad , heh" you say as he gets up.

"Oh dear, I'm not the one to ruin the fun! They just wanted to! So I let them! " oh so that's why huh? "Well it's still no excuse, it's hard peeling them off, even from your rays" you added, seeing the stickers on one of the sunrays.

Note:yes cliffhanger ,sorry but I don't wanna go over 8k words from the first chapter as it's just a plan for now, but next chapter will have 7k-10k words so no worries.

Also Sun is pretty silly ngl, and yeah next chapter you meet Moon!;)(during naptime ofc) How will that turn out huh?

while i managed to scrounge smth colored for every month, next year i definitely want to try and finish some more pieces. i am v happy with my sketching process rn so i wanna work on having fun coloring again

idk how evident technical improvement is for anyone else but i def feel it. near the end of the year i finally figured out what mix of cartoony and anime and anatomy i enjoy and want to go for, so i am very happy with that. drawing is very fun rn, i am doing a lot of purely personal private stuff with friends and it rly helps :)

as always i am hoping to post more in general next year, tho i think occasional radio silence is par for the course at this point lmao. for now i just wanna start posting ocs and some fanart when i feel it again and not get so hung up on my frustration on not having any finished stories. just wanna have fun sharing again <3

I got art blocked after doing art hw for school so I generated a rough story thing:

Of course I’m gonna change the sentences to my liking but I just really wanted try designing characters and try out a more cartoony style (Let me know how I did :D)

I just have a rough idea for the characters backstory. I also need to flesh out the plot and world lol.

I’ve named the first character Amaya (Ama for short). She’s 20 and the alchemist of the story. I did like a small sheet of expressions for her for fun. I wanted to show her mainly in a state of frustration , stress and panic and then I did one of her proud of her creation because you’ve gotta let the characters be happy for once :D She’s known the other guy for 6 months and have been good friends, so when she finally moved out of her parents house she let him live on her sofa.

Then the second one is a guy I haven’t named yet. He’s 16 and was living on the streets till Amaya picked him up (literally and figuratively) and let him stay on her sofa. I wanted to do some expressions for him but then I got lazy and didn’t know what expressions to give him but embarrassed - or whatever you call that face🤷 - I just wanted to draw them interacting already. I also felt like doing something sad so have him crying cuz yes. Also my friend called him long.

Idk if I wanna colour the smol comic for clarity. I also want to do some drawings of them bothering each other cuz I think it’d be funny. We’ll see tho.

anyway!! i like to do lots of doodle sheets with my characters so that i can play around with their body language and expressions as well as learn to draw them more efficiently: it's really fun and its great practice! if you struggle with like, drawing a character without a lot of sketching before hand, i'd say this kind of just fill a page with doodles of them excercise can be very helpful :DD

this has been sitting in my wips for a while, ive never done a lineless piece as ambitious as this and im not sure how to go about it, if anyone knows any artists that do cartoony lineless scenes like this please lmk!!! esspecially any speedpaints/timelapses

Ok, headcanon time

Monty is a pretty prideful and strong person but when he's upset I would usually think he would be very aggressive until Freddy and Bonnie step in and he just goes s o f t. This gator will and tell you how he feels and let's it all out to the people who really understand him. I would see him acting the same towards Roxy since they are very close but Freddy usually finds him first.

idk if its adhd or what but i constantly flip flop around wanting to become just, a cutesy anime-y furry artist like all the popular kids. its not just that it gets more traction its also that i genuinely enjoy the art style and im like oo..i want that...i wanna be a part of that crowd so bad

but i just cant help how much i enjoy drawing humans damn!!!

i also have trouble deciding what art style to use per drawing (i know im famously the author of that fuck it we ballin with inconsistent art styles post but listen).  i love drawing in my anime/natural semi-realism style but i also love the upa-ish cartoony style ive built up over the years. so im constantly torn between which to use
