So I saw fnaf… (no spoilers above the cut)

(First of all I’m not a movie reviewer or anyone special I just like to talk abt movies)

Okay I have like a lot to say and some worries about this movie. Let’s start with the good, as a fan the movie was so fun! It’s been in production hell for so long and I’m so glad it even got to see the light of day and that Scott got to be involved that all makes me thrilled. The Henson creature shop did a spectacular job and I hope people realize the balls it took to even go that route versus just cgi-ing all of it. Massive props to them and just ugh all of it was fantastic looking I could go on all day about the animatronics alone. Now I say “as a fan” because if I wasn’t a fnaf fan the movie wouldn’t be good. It just isn’t and I now totally understand and agree with the first critic reviews that came from people who have (assumingly) no knowledge of the game before hand and I agree with their low ratings. It just isn’t really a good movie🤷🏽‍♀️and that’s fine! Seriously if all it is is a kitty fan service movie where everyone had fun making it and watching it then who cares! Blumhouse made their money before it even premiered and honestly I’m not even worried about not getting another one because they know enough of us will be paying to see whatever else they do next- better or worse. I wouldn’t call it a good movie at all but was it fun? Hell yeah it was fun!

This is just me rambling because why not

I saw it Thursday opening night and my theatre was relatively quiet with some loud “harharharharhar”s before it started versus some theaters I’ve seen who are filled with ppl laughing aloud and doing other fun stuff (like fist fighting) so I wasn’t sure what to expect if it was gonna be the same vibe as like seeing a marvel movie opening night where people are verbally responsive. Idk just curious how other peoples theatre crowd experience was. The movie was really just okay as I said the part of me that’s a fan had fun but the part of me that loves movies was bored. The building a fort was kinda stupid but I understand why it was done for the plot entirely to show that Abby thinks they’re all friends okay but god it was just kinda dumb. The connecting via dreams was odd? I’m not sure how I feel about it because I’m trying to separate this movie from fnaf lore and treat it as a movie by its self but that’s really hard to do. Obviously I’m not saying everything has to/will be canon compliant but it’s still hard to have that knowledge and not compare it to the movie. I’ll have to give it another watch but it’s hard to hodge the movie alone by itself. Anyway- FOXY!!! God his feet were so silly looking I love him so much and they kept the humming/singing that he does? Loved that. Also was the animatronic they were trying to put Abby in at the end supposed to look like baby specifically? It was enough that I caught it but also not exact enough where I thought maybe they just picked a random doll like character idk I can’t remember who’s soul is in baby at the moment but whatever. That fuckass balloon boy made me unreasonably happy idk why like I saw spoilers and knew he was there but still laughed so hard when I actually saw him myself. Also loved the matpat cameo it was just enough and rolled very smoothly, good for him. I again do wanna give them credit for showing the bloody stuff considering the rating like the shadow of someone getting bit in half was good. I understand from a company standpoint of keeping it pg-13 so “kids” can go see it and give them more money but they did what they could and I thought it looked good! Vanessa was cool, kinda weird mike didn’t ask any questions earlier and also why did that bitch chuck mike’s pills into the water bitch that man has no money and you just wasted prescription sleeping pills? Gurl you you but okay whatever anyway- mike was cool nothing like crazy special to say about any of them honestly. I hope they use Matthew lillard more in the future, that’s purely me being a fan of his and nothing more honestly. He wasn’t in the movie much at all. Back to the dreams and stuff- having mike get injured in his dreams was also a bit idk…. Stupid? Like it just seemed idk pretty dumb I can’t fully explain what bothered me about it but it just didn’t seem to go with it all. I just gotta watch it again at some point because I’m very torn abt actually liking it or not. I do have a worry that people will not realize that the animatronics are actually puppets and complain about them being funny looking and moving slow. Puppets aren’t used as much anymore everything’s cgi and animated so I can totally see someone thinking it’s just badly created when it’s actual real people moving them and they’ll think poorly of it when they simply don’t know that it’s real! Again so happy that they chose that route to create them and not cgi it soooo greatful for that and I’m glad to see that’s still being used for movies. Overall very torn about this movie. Again I’m just rambling here and I’d love to think what others think abt it weather you saw it with prior knowledge or not.

Hello and howdy peeps it is yo girl again with another post but this time its dolls yeah that's right dolls! Okay but really I just wanted to do a post about discontinued dolls because I thought it would be nice and fun and since I haven't posted in a while I thought it would be a good thing to come back with and well here it is.

Numbah 1. Novi Stars

I didn't have these dolls as a kid and I didn't really like the look of them although now I think they look really rad and honestly alien dolls? Amazing idea! I am not sure but I think these came out near the end of Bratz. They were made in 2012 and didn't last very long and ended in 2014 and like I said as a kid I didn't really like the look of these dolls so I can understand why kids didn't really flock to these dolls maybe since well where would they fit in like with me I played with Bratz with other Bratz i never played with another doll and a Bratz doll it just didn't feel like it fit in that universe but anyways the doll line only had 20 dolls and the names they came up with are very smart and I really think it's cool. If these were to come back I would probably buy them as long as it's a reasonable price. I can't see these coming back anytime soon but hopefully one day they will but since they I assume weren't as influential or popular as Bratz it will probably take time for them to come back to the world.

Numbah 2. Lalaloopsies

These tiny (and big) dolls also came out around the end of my doll phase or I guess the best way to put it is when I was not getting into the newer dolls and toys. Lalaloopsies were these plastic ragdoll type dolls by again none other than mga entertainment they came in small and in some series big some also had hair and some were just plastic hair. I had some although I didn't play with them much but they were very charming and different from the other dolls I really like this era of dolls because they weren't meant to be humans they were just whatever like above aliens and just really whatever. These dolls also came with super adorable playsets and little pets just like another doll I will be talking about later on this list. Pretty sure I had almost all of the Lalaloopsies in this photo but I do not have them on me. There are at least 156 residents in Lalaloopsy land and 88 of them are tall, 39 are mini and 35 are little there are 150 females and 8 are males. They also have a or had a show on Netflix. Do I think these dolls could come back? Absolutely yes.

Numbah 3. My Scene

My Scene were a doll line from 2002 made by Mattel. They look like the popular Barbie doll but with larger heads and have more similar fashion to Bratz, Mattel and Barbie's enemy/rival and have 3 movies (also is it just me or does the art style remind me of the show 6 teen?) Later through the years they had a decline and sadly they were discontinued. Do I think these dolls can come back? Difficult I feel like they could as long as the clothes are from good fabric and stylish and a part of me feels absolutely not. Mattel has had a really good kid friendly image with Barbie and I feel like a lot of parents would freak if they saw these doll. I didn't play with them as a kid actually I didn't even know about their existence AT ALL! But since I was really into Bratz I could totally have seen myself playing with these dolls as a kid i think their fashion is amazing and again I would love to see them make a comeback.

Numbah 4. Bratzillaz

I know this should be criminal to have Bratz under a Mattel doll I apologize but I wanted to save the best for last. So Bratzillaz are Bratz but they are witches with magical powers and were made to compete with Mattel's Monster High Dolls at the time. They were made in 2012 but later discontinued while Bratz were being rebuilt since a lot of parents didn't like the look of the Bratz. These dolls were meant to be the cousins of the Bratz and they also had a web show. I had quite a few of these dolls maybe one day I will make a post about the dolls I had idk it will probably be a mini post but these dolls were pretty cool. I loved how the legs, hands and arms could move and the fabric they used was pretty nice. Do I think they could make a comeback? Eh maybe one day but I think MGA should just focus on the Bratz when they can before these dolls.

Numbah 5. Yummi Land

Okay alright so I know this photo only shows one doll and that's because I had this doll. Her name is Mindy Mint Chocolate Chip and she smells like mint and like every Yummi Land doll they smell like what the character is named. This is yet another MGA doll line one I would absolutely love to come back why? Because I feel like they weren't around for a long time and I think they are absolutely lovely and different and I although I have said I didn't flock to many dolls that were different I feel like this is one I could see younger kids loving and I would totally buy them. These dolls were introduced in 2006 with a movie called Betsy Bubblegum' Journey through Yummi land. The doll lines included Soda pop girls, creme soda pop girls, candy pop girls, flower pop girls, ice cream pop girls, smoothie pop girls, sundae pop girls and a holiday special doll named Paris Peppermint Creme and another called birthday pop girls. I do not know how many of these dolls there are but just like Lalaloopsies they come in small and big. The doll I owned was a big one. What I loved about these dolls is that they came in bottles idk if anyone else gets interested by how things are packaged but for me I love it so these dolls coming in bottles were just really cool and if they ever made a comeback I hope they keep the bottle idea which now I will answer, do I think these dolls can come back? Yes. They are cute and I think a lot of people especially kids would love them because they smell nice and are just really pretty even the small ones could come back I think. I don't know how small those ones were but Barbie Peekaboos and Polly Pocket have been a thing therefore I think these dolls could make a return.

I grew up with a lot of dolls and I think some of them had really cool ideas and were different and I think that's cool. I really like how some of them were really girly and just cutesy and I think little girls would absolutely love Yummi Land dolls. I wish I had more growing up but I only had one although I remember another girl who was older than me as a kid getting one too I think she had blonde hair with all that said I will have the linkla below and I will see you next time

Okay I just finished the ACOTAR series for the first time and I have so many thoughts so I'm gonna write them down.

Also I have not looked at any fan theories or been a part of this fandom very much so all these headcannons are straight from the noggin:

Okay getting this out of the way cause its a hot topic. Azriel is my baby I love him but

I would have mixed feelings about him being with both gwyn and Elaine. I love the idea of Elaine being azriels sunshine he deserves light in his life (also their scene in ACOSF had me ejdjbdksks) but also all three bat boys being with all 3 sisters rubs me the wrong way idk.

Gwyn is amazing because she's a badass bitch and if azriel doesn't snatch that up I will. I feel like azriel almost gets bulldozed over by the other bat boys (like he will do the dirty work only because he feels inferior) And I want gwyn to help him stand up for himself.

Gwyn is an adult jfc. I'd be more worried about her trauma.

I am totally a elucien shipper I'm SORRY lucien deserves the world

But at the same time I would totally understand if Elaine couldn't forgive him for his involvement in the cauldron business. That shit was wack. I just want this relationship to be the biggest, most "period drama esqe" slowburn.

I have very mixed feelings about lucien. On one hand lucien has never had a home and when tamlin took him in I can see how that loyalty blurred the lines of right and wrong. But at the same time lucien messed up MANY times where the archeon sisters are concerned.

Nesta deserved her kick in the ass because it was needed. She did not deserve everyone to be a little bitch to her. It felt like feyre was the only one who wanted her rehabbed for nestas sake. I definitely would have preferred Nesta to hit rock bottom and choose recovery for herself (cause alcoholism and things can only be truly solved through self help) Everyone else was uncharacteristically nonempathetic. Idk how Cassian could be okay with her treatment after they mated.

I'm still digesting Rhys and nestas relationship. I like that they don't like each other for most of ACOSF. Nestas reasons for treating feyre poorly are valid, but not excuses. The feyre, Nesta, and rhys relationship thing is weird cause I see all sides. I need more feyre and Nesta bonding they always get interrupted.

I HATE what SJM did to Mors character. What the fuck is up with mor not liking Nesta. Maybe we will get an explanation in the next book but I feel like mor was set up to be a great LGBT character with himbo allies but SJM just dropped her off a cliff. Big mad.

However I do want eris and mor to end up together. Not necessarily romantically, but I want them to have it out and I want eris to support mor. Kinda want them to be mates. Kinda want eris to be gay as well. Kinda want them to get married and them have consorts.

WHY does everyone treat feyre like a porcelain doll when the IC has more collective trauma than anyone else in this universe. Don't get me wrong I'm all about the hurt/comfort but it was so inconsistently written LOL. When the IC was telling their stories the first night they met and then feyre told hers I cackled like sorry but she is a baby

Rhys's trauma is just as recent as feyres... yeah he's a lot older and seasoned but oh my GOD he was consistently assaulted for 49 years. Feyre does very little to comfort him. Idk I feel like it was SO glossed over.

Like in ACOWAR feyre admits that amaranthas hatred wasn't personal it was general, unlike Tamlins hatred. But amarantha and rhys had multiple personal vendettas against each other. Like his amarantha is vaguely feyres tamlin. Rhys didn't even get to kill amarantha. His trauma is untapped. Rhys is the main character feyre is the love interest idc

Idk what yall say rhys is my baby my lovebug my everything. He's got his flaws but you can't love Nesta and hate him at the same time without being a lil hypocritical

But he's fucked in the head for thinking he was justified in drugging feyre every night for 2 months. Almost more mad about that than the SA (I dont really blame Rhys since it is not cannon to me. SJM just messed up 😌 it was so out of character) did he ever really apologize for that??

ALSO I know smj wanted to write like #consentking but half of what he allowed was so unnecessarily dangerous (like the first AND second weaver encounter- if my SO ran off in the middle of a battle to track down a mysterious creature when the task could have been done after the battle I would have be livid. Mor was justified in being mad.)

I'm so mad rhys didn't flatten tamlin during the high lord meeting. Either it will happen in the future or I will burn these books.

THE BAT BOYS HAVE CONNONICALLY BEEN IN THE SAME ROOM WHILE HAVING SEX. the foursomes in my head gets clearer by the day

I HATE the fact that rhys almost had an existential crisis over feyre being so young when she found her mate and not having "lived" and THEN GETS HER PREGNANT??? Are you kidding me. I'm so mad. I don't wanna deal with babies. I hate babies.

But I DO have a fun headcannon that since the bone carver is a death-god or whatever he KNEW nyx wouldn't survive and that is why he appeared as him. Also when the bone carver offered to take feyres first born in exchange for help rather than the oroboughs I think that was also foreshadowing. The only reason nyx survived was because of Nesta and the bone carver had trouble seeing the cauldron.

Literally I would have enjoyed ACOSF if instead of the pregnancy feyre was busy looking for bryaxis. Literally what happened to him. Wtf

I know the plot armor is crazy thick around the IC but it would have been nice if one of them died. Well, not nice, but more believable. Maybe thats why nyx should have died. Lol I need therapy.

FREAKING HEADCANNON: the archeon sisters are partially fae. Their mom was definitely a descendant and that's why all three sisters have mates. It was hinted that the sisters had mated because they were powerful and cauldron made but Cassian and rhys could feel the pull before the sisters were turned.

Tarquin is the hottest high lord

The whole blood rite thing was stupid. I would have loved if it was spread out over a longer period of time but it was so unrealistic

You know we all love a good #girlboss🤢 moment but the whole valkarie thing seemed 1. Out of no where 2. Really quickly forced (ACOSF should have been like 2 books) 3. If emerie and mor get together life=complete

what are your biggest tips for beginner artists? or best learning resources?

based on my own experiences, watching speedpaints was always a fun way to figure out some methods for drawing in my early days. it was fun to watch the different ways people sketched and colored and rendered and seeing it be made right in front of me made it seem much more possible for me to create something like that as well

there’s a lot of lovely art youtube channels for some free education as well. jazza (formerly draw with jazza) is a classic, he has plenty of drawing tutorials, plenty of which i made use of. a more “advanced” i guess channel would be proko. they have playlists for how to figure draw and do gestures, and a whole playlist for anatomy of the human body for artists, which works pretty well for me personally, but it is very anatomical. if all those individual muscle terms are a bit too confusing, i cant guarantee itll help you, but it definitely helped me, just how my brain works. also they’re kinda funny sometimes. like the pelvis video where they slam dunked a baby doll into a cgi skeletons pelvis. but they also have plenty of other videos about like. character design and a bunch of other stuff i havent gotten around to but yeah check em out. that’s just two channels, but they’re a good jumping off point into other channels and artists you can learn from.

so that’s like, general education of how to draw, and when it comes down to making the art itself, here’s my number one rule for beginners:

TEST YOUR SUPPLIES BEFORE STARTING AN ACTUAL DRAWING.

that means make sure your liner pens wont smudge when you color over them with marker or paint (made that mistake myself and i got sad) make sure your paper is good for whatever media you’re using (i.e. maybe dont do wet media on paper made for dry media), be wary of bleeding, see how long it takes any wet-ish media to dry (that includes pens and markers)

that also means test out the brushes in your drawing program, mess around with layer modes and selection tools, figure out what shortcuts do what, and if you’re using a drawing tablet of some kind for the first time, do a good amount of practice drawings to get a feel for it, especially if it doesnt have its own screen. (digital art is less stressful in that regard cuz of the undo button so yeah, just a little note there)

in terms of what supplies to actually get, uhhhh idk much about traditional art. im not well versed in that field

digital art though? firealpaca is free and a good start for beginners. not only does it have a lot of good functions for normal drawing, but you can also make simple animations with it. it has an onion skin mode and a website where you can convert the layers into frames and make it a gif but you can also do that part on other sites, but yeah its p neat. 

another free option for animation is blender but i have yet to figure out how to use it, so yeah. there’s tutorials online tho, you can do both 2d and 3d animation, and even blend (heh) them.

but yeah, that’s my advice. and if you do digital art, SAVE OFTEN.

Also back to my Star Wars parallel, I think I’ve figured it out. Clarke is Rey. Wells is Finn (the guy friend that loves the main girl but she only sees him as a friend). Finn is Poe (the careless fun guy that contrasts the oh so serious main girl). And Bellamy is Kylo ren (the ‘antagonist’ that actually has a heart). Like guys the friend zone relationship between wells and Clarke is VERY finn and Rey like. Then there’s this scene where it seems like Bellamy is trying to turn wells against finn almost like kylo ren trying to turn someone to the dark side. i know rn its finn and clarke but there are strong reylo vibez between bellamy and clarke 

Now there’s atom and octavia jesus this girl moves faster through boys than i have in my entire life but i guess since she lived under the floor for much of her life she has a lot to make up for.

Just my opinion, but I seriously think it’s kinda questionable, to assume someone’s gender, sexuality, skin color, religion, whatever, because you don’t like the way their doll looks, and then tell them that they’re presenting their dolls is wrong. Idk if anyone else has experienced this, but I’ve gotten a lot of shit from people thinking my dolls are racist, and homophobic, and kinda just assumed I’m a straight white girl, and then gave me shit for how I represent the characters the way I do with my dolls. I mean, first of all, not everyone in the hobby is a white cishet girl, and if your default assumption of people in the hobby is that they are, maybe stop being so close-minded. It’s a lot of those super-woke people, telling you if your dolls are acceptable, and how you’re wrong, and how your dolls are bad, until they find out that you’re actually representing something you’re a part of, and suddenly they pretend they never gave you shit for it, or give half-assed excuses, as if people can’t speak up for themselves at all. It’s also really annoying when someone tells you, your character isn’t right, as if there’s some kind of guideline you have to follow so that your doll becomes acceptable, or they don’t deem it problematic anymore. Seriously, step off people. It’s pretty toxic, and honestly makes the space really unwelcoming for a lot of these people you think you’re protecting, by ranting at some random person who you think represented gay characters wrong, or didn’t make the perfect and acceptable disabled character. Even people who are representing a part of themselves, like a ND person making an ND doll, might not actually do a good job of it, by the standards some people have. That’s just how it is making characters. Not everyone is good at it, it’s just how OC’s work, it’s a real pain in the ass, something even people who’ve written stories, and characters for years. And no, obviously not everyone is gonna agree, I know I’ve seen people make gay characters whom I really liked, but some other guy thought was bad rep, and didn’t like them, because he felt it was too over the top, and stereotypical. But that shit happens, and it’s just something people have to deal with. We’re not a hivemind, so if you see one people hating that doll, there might just as well be someone who loves it, and its features, or the story, or the character. It kinda stings, and I’ll assume it can hurt some, when people say that certain things just make the dolls, or their character, and stories inherently racist, sexist, or whatever. You may be thinking you’re doing something big and woke by telling people making a flamboyant gay is homophobic, or telling someone their black doll is bad bc it has wide hips and a large nose, and lips, but imagine how that reflects on people who’re like that, and who actually enjoy these dolls, people who see their own features reflected, especially the traits which often aren’t seen as attractive or ugly. Not a fun time when that particular feature, like a big nose, gets called racist, and stereotypical, and you’re sitting there with your own, very real large nose. Not really gonna start how much more than stings when these are features you’ve gotten shit for irl. It’s just kind of an asshole move. Yeah there are obviously people who’ll make characters who’re pretty hard on the edge, or actually pretty bad even from an objective stand-point, I remember the Jewish Holocaust doll, that one seems to have been agreed that it was a poor move, but I think in a lot of other cases, people just overreact, or just say shit that’s not cool, and throw accusations, just to think they’re doing something.

What inspired you to write the fic this way?

Nettle’s written in dreamy present tense! it’s meant to jump around in Harley’s personal timeline and idk that just felt right. when i write more introspective things they just tend to work better in present tense imo, and my style lends itself well to vignettes. truly i just do whatever i’m feeling in the moment but i think my brain has a way of breaking it down like this before giving me that answer.

What scene did you first put down?

I always write chronologically! if i only write my fave scenes first then the rest of the fic feels like a slog to me and i quickly lose motivation. ALL my fics are written in the order they’re presented!

What’s your favorite line of narration?

it’s never one line because my prose is often fragmented, but here:

He fades in and out of consciousness, and in a brief period of waking, catches it—black silhouettes surrounding him, cutting jagged shapes against the starlit sky above. The hypothermic conditions must have gotten to him, because he swears that stars have unhinged themselves from the sky and traveled downward to hang around him, bright amber and glistening brilliantly. Crybaby blinks again. They’re not stars. They’re eyes.

He wills himself to focus on the shapes, unsure what it is he’s seeing. They’re on every side of him, arm to arm like demonic paper dolls, thick needles piercing galaxies from the heavens. The scene registers, and he’s immediately awake, paralyzed with fear.

The sandstorm has stopped. The only sound across the sandy plain is the errant howls of mightyena on mountaintops far away. Five cacturne stand around him, their eyes ravenous and devoid of mercy.

What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

i didn’t let the main character have a name until p much the very last few scenes of the story! harley is arguably canonically queer and queers pick our names more often than not, but deadnames don’t really matter and so i needed something to call him. before he grows his confidence and self-actualizes, all he can see within himself is his capacity to be sensitive, so he’s defined by that until he picks his name. I’ve never done that before! in my trans ash fic i DID allow the audience his deadname because i wanted to play around with movie 4 time travel shenanigans xD but that fic, despite being written by a trans person, contains a lot of Cis Person Writing Trans Character tropes, so with harley i kinda wanted to do better.

Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

It Could Be That Deep!

i generally don’t go into most of my fics with a Message(tm) but one thing i think is present in Nettle is that your identity is self-defined. no one can tell you who you are and if they do you aren’t bound to stay that forever. 

the thing i want people to understand about narcissists is that we become narcissists because of abuse, because the world tells us we’re nothing and our brains change to defy that notion. and we’re so often told we’re abusive or selfish or horrible simply because we were more or less beaten into a corner and did what we could to survive. i wrote harley as a young narcissist who cried and cried and cried and shyed away from the world and couldn’t see himself as anything but still found bravery and attempted to chase his dreams. i wrote him as someone who flourished because one person saw his potential and cheered him on, and i wrote him as someone who bloomed into a narcissist and was loved and adored still not in spite of but because of it. a lot of my writing is just... i want this queer, neurodivergent character to be loved, and i want the queer neurodivergent folks reading it to know they’re capable of being loved too.

harley comes from dust and depression and weakness and shapes himself into exactly what he wants to be. thats what nettle’s all about.

What did you learn from writing this fic?

harley is the funnest motherfucker to write in the entire world.

What’s your favorite line of narration?

Harley can’t count the days since Purika that he’s dreamt of beating her into submission. Can’t fathom the hours that he’s lied awake in bed prying apart her first round appeal, her battle style, how she was able to dance around his dirty tricks and steal the ribbon out of his hands even with angry tears in her eyes and red staining her cheeks. Back then, he’d reveled in the way her pretty little face contorted, flustered and searing holes into him—she was so fun to play with. Now, it only reminded him of her resilience, and all he longed to do was break her.

i love writing him when he’s Evil. i love villains. it’s really exhausting to write harley when he’s not being a good person, but in like... a satisfying way, tbh.

What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

“The needles don’t fool me, Harley,” she near-whispers. “I know you’re a good person underneath them, okay? I hope… someday, I can be as strong as you.”

He finds his voice. “You should hope you never have to.”

What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

it pretty much entirely incorporates canon events! almost every scene is just a scene from canon, and so all the dialogue save for a few is 4kids/tpci’s writing instead of mine :P i loooove doing canon retellings and going into what the characters are thinking during those scenes.

Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

this fic has been recontextualized a lot for me since writing it because the person i have historically used as my greatest inspiration for harley besides myself (both his good and his bad) is no longer an enemy and is, in fact, my fucking future roommate now. i did not go into this fic with a message to be learned, i was just kinda like ‘man may and harley got a lot of cool shit happening in their rivalry. let’s look at how that could work out.’ 

now when i read it i’m just like... there is nothing in this world that can’t be mended if both people truly want to mend it with their whole hearts. i wasn’t writing this fic to be prophetic but i never am and i always do. if you miss someone maybe they miss you too. time changes us all so much, even the worst falling outs can blossom into something beautiful and strange and twice as strong. 

to quote my aforementioned muse, “[I think] forgiveness could happen.”

What did you learn from writing this fic?

its fun to write people who suck and are selfish and cruel even when they don’t have a tragic motive. like its fun to just write assholes sometimes :P

"I think he wants that one, Virgil."

"Yeah, he does seem to like it." Virgil knelt down so that they were closer to the toy Patton was reaching for with his little arms, letting him grab it off the shelf. It was a little pink bunny with blue button eyes and a little smile stitched onto its mouth in red. "You like this one, Sunshine?" He asked. Patton laughed and shook it in his hands. 

"Babbit!" He squealed, the box with the doll shaka-shaka-shakaing in his hands as he swung it excitedly around.

"I think that's a yes," Logan stated, a small smile creeping onto his face as he watched his son. Patton was positively elated when his dads let him carry the box with the bunny to the checkout counter all by himself, where Logan paid for it before leading his husband back outside. He had a bag of groceries gripped in each hand and Patton toddled along behind him, holding Virgil's hand in one tiny fist while the other clutched the bag with his bunny in it. Once they got into the car Patton quickly yanked the bag off and hugged the box to his chest, refusing to let go of it when Virgil tried to take it.

"Patton, you have to let me see the box if I'm going to get the bunny out for you." Virgil tried and failed to coax Patton to put his new toy down for even a second, only succeeding in getting the little boy to wrap his arms even more protectively around it. Eventually he gave up and leaned back in his seat with a sigh, contenting himself to just hold the child in his arms. Logan looked between the two, brows furrowed like he was thinking.

"Here wait, let me try something," he said suddenly, reaching into his pocket with one hand. He pulled out the car keys, letting them jangle and shake enticingly within Patton's reach. The child looked up and his eyes widened, before he dropped the box and reached for them. 

"Virgil, quick!"

His husband didn't need to be told twice. Virgil quickly flicked out his pocket knife and expertly opened the box with it, pulling the bunny out and putting the pocket knife back in record time. He nudged the box onto the car floor, then carefully set the doll on Patton's lap. The little boy giggled and dropped the keys, grabbing the bunny and hugging it to his chest. Logan snatched the keys back, hiding a smile as he slid them into the ignition.

"Nice job there," Virgil commented. Logan nodded, looking between Patton and the parking lot as he started the car.

"It's a nice day outside, we should go to the park. You need sun, Virgil. And exercise. Spending too much time inside isn't healthy for you at all, in fact--"

"I get it, Logan. Let's go to the park." Virgil shook his head; he loved Logan to death but his lectures were unbearable, especially when the lecture happened to be about Virgil's questionable habits in regards to his health. As far as he was concerned he was doing just fine, thank you. Screw science.

Logan huffed but he didn't continue--thank God, Virgil thought--pulling out of the parking lot and starting down the road towards the park. He had been right about one thing--it was a beautiful day outside, and the blazing sun reminded him again of Patton's nickname. Sunshine. A perfectly fitting name for such a sweet and happy child.

They arrived at the park a few minutes later. Logan climbed out of the car first, slinging a small bag over his shoulder and coming over to Virgil's side, where he opened the door and gathered Patton into his arms so that his husband could get out. Virgil didn't seem to know what to do with his hands now that he wasn't holding Patton, awkwardly stuffing them into his pockets and following Logan towards a nice patch of grass near the shade of a large tree. Logan gently set Patton down and the little boy laughed delightedly, playing with his little pink bunny while Virgil sat down cross-legged across from him and next to Logan. The blue-tied one glanced at him and reached into the bag he'd brought, pulling out a small container of sunscreen. 

"Too much exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer," he explained. "We need to be careful about Patton getting too much of it."

"First you're telling me I need to be in the sun more, and now you're telling me it'll give me cancer?" Virgil threw his hands up. "There is no winning here!"

"It's all about balance, Virgil," Logan answered calmly in his teacher voice, reaching for Patton. "Help me get some sunscreen on his face, please."

Virgil huffed and reached begrudgingly for the blue bottle, carefully squirting a little sunscreen into his palm and trying to keep it out of the eternally-squirming Patton's eyes as he rubbed it all over the boy's face. 

"This should be an Olympic sport," he muttered. Logan actually laughed at that one, and before he knew it Virgil was grinning too. 

"There. No cancer for you," he said a few minutes later, setting the sunscreen aside and watching as Logan released Patton once more to play with his bunny in the grass.

"Virgil, we must talk about your bedside manner sometime."

"Sure thing, teach." Logan sighed, leaning back and watching Virgil play with their son. They were so cute together, and when he was sure that Virgil wasn't paying attention Logan pulled his phone out and snapped a few pictures for later. His husband hated to get his picture taken but...oh well. That moment was too sweet to let go.

"Wow, are you two like, trying to make your kid gay or something? Get him a proper toy you freak, he's not a girl!"

Oh no.

Virgil stood up instantly, placing himself between his son and the cocky blonde woman who was looking at him over the rim of her sunglasses like you might a primate at the zoo. 

"Do you have a problem?" He hissed at her through gritted teeth. Logan quickly leaned forward and picked Patton up before he could go over to Virgil, standing up so that he was behind his husband but still there if needed. 

"Whoah, defensive much? You need to chill out, dude. I'm just saying, this world has too many of you queers in it as it is." The woman's voice was flippant, arrogant, infuriating. Virgil's hands slowly curled into fists, and his shoulders shook.

"He's not your kid, how about you back the fuck off," he snarled at her. The blonde woman looked offended.

"Get a life, you gay loser!" She snapped, the ice in her coffee clinking as she angrily shook it.

"You know I could punch you right now. You fucking--" 

"Virgil, that's enough." Logan's voice was low and warning. "After all, it is pointless to make arguments with such useless contributions to society. Most of this breed isn't smart enough to tell their head from their ass, as you can see for yourself right here. You're better than that."

"Why you--you--!" The woman fumed at him, unable to even finish her sentence before spinning around and marching back the way she'd come. Virgil watched her go with fiercely narrowed eyes, his entire body tensed like a cat about to pounce. Logan knew that look; remembered it from many years ago when the two had only just met, and it worried him more than the woman ever had. Virgil needed to calm down before he made things worse for himself.

"Virgil." Logan called his husband again, his voice softer than before. Virgil slowly and deliberately unclenched his fists, then turned around.

"What?" His voice was hard and angry; he looked about as upset as Logan felt internally about the whole exchange. He couldn't show that and upset Patton, though.

"Ignore her stupidity," he told Virgil instead. "Sunshine is okay. He's here with us, he's happy, and that's all that matters."

Virgil blinked when Logan used their son's nickname and his gaze slowly shifted down to Patton, who was holding his bunny in one hand and reaching out towards him. 

"Papa!" He cried, wiggling his fingers and struggling to get out of Logan's arms. He looked like he was about to cry.

That did it. Virgil melted, his expression immediately softening into one of gentle concern. He came closer and Logan allowed him to take Patton into his arms, where he gently rocked the little boy back and forth.

"Hey, it's alright, Sunshine." He whispered. "The bad lady went away, it's okay..." Patton gradually settled into Virgil's arms as he talked to him, hugging his bunny to his chest. "That's it, that's better." Virgil smiled at his son. "Don't worry Sunshine, I'll protect you. I won't let them hurt you."

Logan looked at him proudly. Well done, Virgil. Well done.

Another stupid long post about how I don't know my own fucking gender

This is honestly just copied and pasted from a yt comment I made on an older vid and I figured I'd share it here bc tumblr loves this shit I guess lol. God damn I've been questioning my gender for so long and ik rn im prob not still in the best position to be thinking about deep life shit like where I am mentally and im dealing with a lot in my life and also very insecure about potentially being trans bc a lot of my friends don't seem like they would be very accepting and my bf is only really into girls. I asked him how he would feel if I was nonbinary or looked like a boy and he just said he wasn't totally sure but he's only attracted to girls :c he's the sweetest bf in existence and im honestly so afraid of losing him, so aside from obviously not wanting to deal with all the other trans shit, I definitely hope im not trans bc I don't wanna lose him. Anyways, ill start with my childhood I guess. I was always super tomboyish. My older sisters (im the youngest sibling btw) were always p tomboyish so maybe I kinda got it from them but I kinda felt like I was more tomboyish than them? I felt like I was the most boyish girl I knew, like even meeting other tomboy girls in elementary school I felt like I couldn't really relate to them or like they couldnt relate to me enough idk. I also remember once making up a song about being like so tomboyish that I was basically a boy or something along those lines and sang it to my best friend at the time who I copied like all the fkin time (it honestly wasnt healthy lmao I didn't have good parents, also I think I started making up songs bc she did that and I wanted to like impress her), but she thought it was stupid and weird so I just forgot about it and moved on. I was embarrassed to even enjoy playing with dolls or play dress up games online and was determined to play masculine games like runescape (even tho I ended up doing girly shit in runescape anyways lmao) and considered myself one of the guys. In 5th grade when I started needing to wear a bra I absolutely didn't want to, tho some girls in my class thought it was weird I didn't wear a bra when they found out and that made me more insecure about it, but since then I've p much only worn sports bras. I have bought some more normal bras bc I wanted to look attractive in them for my SO or whatever but I still highly prefer my sports bras and can't stand wearing the other ones unless I have to bc my sports bras aren't clean lmfao. I always hated talking about genitalia and breasts n shit but that could just be bc of how I was raised and how my family was always so strict and such radical Christians and anything sex related was a sin, idk if its dysphoria or not. I've never rlly liked my chest and hated showing cleavage like so god damn much and still do but maybe that's the same thing or maybe I just want smaller boobs and that's it idk??? Like I'd want to appear to have a completely flat chest at least, idk if I'd want to actually like have a guy chest or not? Also huge issue with ppl seeing me naked or touching my boobs but again idk if that's gender related or just a normal issue I have. Tho I had a friend in high school (a girl, a very weird lewd girl) who would occasionally grope my chest randomly and it wasn't a huge issue but kinda made me uncomfortable and more aware of my chest. I really like when I wear big hoodies or when I lean over so my shirt kinda poofs out and it looks like I have a flat chest underneath. Though im not super uncomfortable with my boobs, like normally ill want nothing to do with them but I don't mind my SO touching them especially if they're really into it. I wouldn't say im rlly dysphoric about between my legs either, like yeah I think its weird and I hate monthlies and stuff but I think that's normal. I think if i woke up one day and had a dick I would be fine with it, I'd prob even enjoy it tbh lmao. I once had a dream that i was, well, a male dog like,,, ya know, with a female dog, and not to sound weird af (hey we were both dogs ok) but I think i kinda enjoyed it? I don't really remember any other dreams where I remember actually having a dick or feeling it but I've had several dreams as a male person, but p much all of them were like, I was seeing through a character's eyes or smth, not really that I was a guy, so idk if that's normal. I have the same dreams about being other girl characters, I'd say its split about 50/50. Because of this game community im in, a lot of ppl assume im a guy, and a lot of people still think im a guy and I haven't really bothered to correct them but idk if I find it more enjoyable bc its funny or if I enjoy not being referred to as female for once. I'll admit I feel most comfortable referred to as they/them, like without a doubt, if I could go by only 1 set of pronouns for the rest of my life it would be they/them. But ik that's not enough to call myself trans. I definitely wouldn't want to be 100% male. Like if I imagine myself as a grown man vs a grown woman id prob choose to be a woman. I don't like my voice but I think that's mostly just bc I sound 10 years younger than I actually am, and wouldn't really want a deep/masculine voice. Like a "tomboy" voice would be fine if that makes sense? I don't want facial hair or want to have a masculine body, I like that I have curves and soft skin and small hands. Personally I like my hair long bc its soft and people love it, but sometimes I kinda wish I had short hair and could pass as a boy. Like I'd wanna be a typical cute kpop boy ngl lmfao. I like the whole cute androgynous/feminine boy look and wish I could pull it off. Tho I also like really girly things sometimes and am okay being seen as a girl, i just want to be cute and attractive. Ik whether im trans or not I like being a mix of feminine and masculine, tho I admit in the past I've been kinda insecure bc I used to be super sure I was nb and thought me liking girly things and wanting to still havd long hair and wear girly clothes made me seem like "not trans enough" or whatever. But i guess here I am questioning myself again anyways. If I am nb, it sucks that ill never really be able to be openly myself and all but I've accepted by now that I kinda have to pick a binary and choose what I want to be seen as for the rest of my life, and im ok with being female. There are some things I dont like about my body whether they're really gender related or not but I can't afford to transition and wouldn't like most of the effects of T and am afraid of surgery and not sure I want top surgery enough to ever get it anyways, but I think if we lived in a perfect world and I could magically change my body at will and I wasnt afraid of judgment or being unattractive or whatever, I'd probably want to look androgynous and itd be cool to be able to change my genitalia at will lmao. If I had to choose 1 genitalia over the over I honestly have no idea what I'd choose but I have no desire to ever get bottom surgery, at the same time tho I honestly wanna someday get surgery or w/e to never be able to get pregnant. I just could not handle pregnancy or giving birth and I don't even like babies and breast feeding sounds awful so if I ever have kids they will be adopted 100% and most likely be older and like not newborn babies lmfao, babies are honestly so weird to me and they stink and cry and they're so fragile and im so afraid of like dropping them when I hold them lmao. But I like my nieces and nephews and I like being the cool aunt (is there a gender neutral version of aunt/uncle?) who lets them use my art supplies and helps them do fun stuff even if I get tired of them sometimes lol. Idk if that's gender related either but yeah I guess. This if kind of a more recent thing but I often say I'd make a great bf kinda as a joke bc of how I am in relationships like being the stereotypical sweet bf type who makes things for their partner a lot and wants to be their knight in shining armor and their protector and all that, but again prob not rlly trans related lmao just thought I'd throw that out there I guess. So when I was 17 was when I really started getting into trans stuff, prior to that I mostly just learned from my parents that trans ppl were "against god" and all that bs, and eventually started realizing lgbt+ isn't as bad as my family said and later realized I was bi. But anyways I met an agender person online when i was 17ish and I'd never heard it before and thought it was really interesting and asked them how you know you're agender bc after hearing their explanation of it i thought it described how I felt, but ofc they weren't transmed and just described it as being like a deep feeling or whatever and since then i started calling myself agender (and switched between a few labels but basically nonbinary) until my transmed friend told me I was ridiculous and that I wasn't trans, and honestly he was a huge dick but im a huge pushover lmao and I thought well he's trans so he must know what he's talking about, and though I felt discouraged about it I stopped calling myself nonbinary. Then I began questioning it again after not too long and basically since then I've been questioning my gender off and on. I'm now 22 and god I fucking hope im cis but also I feel like a part of me doesn't want to be cis if that makes sense?? Idk if that's because I don't like being a girl for some weird deep reason I don't know about despite being pretty sure I've gotten a lot of my feelings and their reasons behind them figured out, or if it's because I am trans and dont want to force myself to pretend im a girl 100% forever. At the very least, whatever the fuck my gender is, I want to continue going by they\them wherever I can and pretending to be a boy to strangers online and I'd love to cosplay male characters and bind and occasionally just dress masculine for the hell of it and probably wear sports bras for the rest of my life. I feel like in a way I cang possibly be trans because I can live with all of those things and be fairly comfortable still being seen as female for the rest of my life. But idk, I have bpd and other mental shit so sometimes im not great with my feelings (tho I do try really hard to identify all of my feelings/emotions and stuff) but at the same time bpd can cause weird identity shit so maybe its just a weird mix of a bunch of crap and im not actually trans but just weird and tomboyish enough to question my gender for 5 years and still be unsure. Also I know a lot of ppl suggest talking to a therapist/psychologist/whatever professional and trust me I would love to but I can't currently and am unsure when ill be able to bc they're expensive and I live in the middle of fucking nowhere so finding a decent therapist around where I live rn is going to be very difficult. Also, I have fucking crippling social anxiety lmao like I'd be so afraid to open up about this stuff even to a professional. So if anyone could suggest anything online that could help that would be amazing

i wrote this whole thing and then tumblr refreshed and i lost it.. this is why i use mobile. these are basically my overall thoughts and feelings on the episode with as much intelligence as i am capable of. i’ve never been one of those people who writes long analysis of iasip or anything, this is as close as we’re getting. also if you can’t tell already, i absolutely love meellisday.

-i can’t believe they all had sex with the doll... especially my boy charlie kelly i mean i expected it from mac (duh) and frank is kinda gross but... my boy, pls

-ok my biggest problem was the dialogue of this episode. there were a lot of cases of things just being straight up repeated? there was a line that dee said out loud at the dinner table and then repeated under her voice as a kind of ad-libbed chatter type thing and that was rough for a show so strong historically with its talking over each other scenes, improv, and fast dialogue. the jokes about mac banging the sex doll were ok to be repeated, i guess, but they kept making the same jokes about him with the exact same words and tone. in fact i don’t really get why they made the “mac is having sex with the doll” joke so often. since they all ended up having an orgy with it i rlly think there was a missed opportunity, they should’ve made fun of him for having sex with it after it was confirmed they all did because there could’ve been a moment of “..... wait but yall arent any better.... the” does that make sense? it does to me? like i know they did make a comment about it when dennis got back but it was a missed opportunity to not point out the irony.

-the storyline was not good. or the whole liberal tears thing was just very strange. it felt like they abandoned the show’s usual character driven aspects for the sake of driving the plot. they went with a humorous plot i guess but no jokes were made about the liberal/conservative thing from the gang so therefore it wasn’t funny? the gas scheme and the garbage schemes, for example, wouldn’t have strictly been funny on their own or excecuted by different people but they were good episodes and were funny to me because of the gang. the door to door song, the misspelled sign, the entire ridiculousness of the limo. maybe the plan was meant to be very run of the mill and unimportant because cindy was running it, like schmitty, but it was weeeeiiird and i think could have been done differently in a way that would have more positively impacted the story and overall episode quality. the labels, for example, could’ve been much better. my favourite part was the strip club and their interactions there, i wish there had been more of that vibe. also i think there was more to be done with charlie fighting the sex doll.

-dee didn’t have sex with the doll so                ha, go 2 hell incest supporters

-dee was pretty great in this episode actually. the only thing i disliked was her reason for wanting cindy gone being that she felt that she wasn’t special anymore because there was another girl. that was kinda dumb and i would’ve easily accepted had she just decided to go back with the gang without any reasoning. it doesn’t seem like dee to hate on another woman like that without reasoning, sorry if i’m wrong i really don’t know shit. it just didn’t sit well.

-the waitress!!!!!!!!!! i love her!

-ok so i think mary elizabeth is a great person and is also a very good comedic actress. she’s on santa clarita diet (i literally went through the show just to watch her) and i’m not even being biased when i say she is really good on that show. she’s so talented and funny on that show and shines in a way over there that i never really felt she did on sunny. not by any fault of her own but i don’t think the writing for the waitress has ever been all that interesting or with potential to stand out. i like the waitress because although she thinks she’s better than the gang and then charlie she is so obviously just as garbage as them but also has that quality of being just about the most mundane person on the planet. what i’m getting at here is she deserves better writing and could be as iconic and funny as all the other side characters and i think finally bringing her down to living with charlie could be a really good change for her character. you still have the potential for delusions of superiority, similar to how mac thinks people like him and thought he was straight or how dennis thinks he’s a lady’s man, the waitress similarly thinks she’s better than these people while being a garbage person who uses charlie and is now literally living with him. she’s always been pretty similar to charlie (more so as it’s gone on) but tells herself that he’s worse and again.. now that they really are in the same living space and are more clearly placed beside each other in the eyes of the viewer, i hope she can have more coooool and exciting story lines. hope that wasn’t too repetitive. i just want everyone to know how funny and awesome she has the potential to be and she deserves shining moments that characters like cricket, maureen, and the mcpoyles get. etc.

-hearing charlie kelly call the waitress “honey” and “sweetie” is so, so weird and again, that’s a testament to how good they are at acting

-also i wish they’d addressed the pregnancy thing they were going for (she could’ve at least been annoyed at him that it didn’t work out or whatever) and it didn’t make sense to me that the season 12 finale saw charlie as being uncomfortable with the waitress expecting a relationship with him and this episode didn’t see him as really annoyed or uncomfortable, or at least it seemed to be at a different degree and from a different angle. how charlie treated her was a bit similar to how he treated dee in rules the world but i wish the waitress hadn’t been at all submissive? like she slept with the sex doll and was being funny/rude about it?? i wish she had been that way the whole time or at least more significantly? i get that the joke was that she now was desperate like charlie had been but i can’t say it was done all that well or consistently, from my perspective? i wish they had more fighting and banter and whatever. idk man. 

-they said it was their apartment so i kind of wonder if frank is still living with them?

-also i felt like there wasn’t enough frank!!!!!!!!!!!! he was hardly there. i also missed the charlie/frank dynamic. if you can tell by this point,,,, i am a big charlie fan. 

-but yeah the first thing i noticed was a lack of frank. my deal is that it felt as though the gang hardly really interacted within themselves? everything felt pretty impersonal. usually there’s scheming and yelling and really fast/smart dialogue but it felt more plot based and focused on getting across a specific set of events as opposed to thoroughly being true to the characters. the sex doll orgy felt out of place and these stranger elements of the episode reminded me of the ski episode and flowers for charlie in the way that they were detached from how i recognize the gang’s personalities. yes. 

-dude!! i missed dennis! i didn’t realize how much i would want dennis back until he showed up and started doing that thing where he makes black and white judgements based entirely on personal preference. like in charlie rules the world at the end, i love that stuff. 

-i actually think dennis was the most true to form in his character, my only things i’d change would: i’d add in a “move past it” in his explanation of his return, i’d make the bird thing more natural, and i’d have him be more protective of the 80s (that was the insult, right? she said he dresses like the 80s? anyways we know den loves that shit pls)

-mac was cool too! as i said earlier i wish they’d repeated that joke a wee bit less but aside from that i absolutely loved the mac content because he doesn’t always get the best stuff to work with. rob, as i’ve said before, is truly underrated for his performance as mac because the character is so easy to read. mac is very easy to understand as someone who craves validation and easily speaks his feelings while also have distorted versions of self, though that seems to be going away (with the coming out, the obvious truth of him being ripped, and him straight up asking if they like him) which is really funny because instead of him being wrong about who he is and being oblivious, everyone else is oblivious about him because he used to be?? yes, her. though he’s still a denial ridden dumbass in many ways, now the gang is in denial about his apperance. anyways rob killed this episode and i hope people come to see that is equally as distinctive as charlie and dennis.

-i really did like dee here, as i said earlier. she was also rather true to form. no complaints, and i like how she seemed more integrated into the gang. i love when they all work together, or at least work with dee, and everyone is equal and none of them continually put down dee. that’s way more fun. 

-alright i think this is all i have to say for this episode? it seemed pretty foreign to sunny’s usual formula and reminded me the most of “flowers for charlie” in how it definitely strays from how what i view as a normal episode for the gang. there were good enough moments but it isn’t going to be one of my favourite episodes of the season. i really hope they don’t fall into the same hole arrested development did where they once would reach a conclusion every episode and stick to a format which changed in the 4th season for sure. i am ok with change but i hope not much is sacrificed. anyways, i am still a fan and am anticipating the rest of the season still! yes i’m aware that this is overwhelmingly negative but every negative i have for any sunny episode is usually leaps and bounds better than episodes of pretty much any other show.

Mr. Gray and Mr. Wise:Prologue(Pennywise/ Robert Gray x Reader)

“Nice show today Bobby!”

“Yeah! You had the children cheering a lot more today!”

“And the mothers,haha!”

“Oh guys, come on…I’m not that good of a performer! I’m just a simple, ol clown."A ginger haired male exclaimed as he lifted his hands up almost in defense with a nervous chuckle right before one of his co workers slapped his back and made him flinch.

"Don’t be too humble about yourself Bob, we all know how much everybody loves ya! And how much some men around here envy you because you actually make their women laugh!”

“Ah, yes…I’m not too fond of that fact…"the young man named Robert and called Bob or Bobby  stated as he scratched the back of his head. "Partially the reason why I fear walking home alone,haha…”

“Aww, does Bobby want a big boy to walk him home?”

“Raul, stop it…come on. I’m a grown 23 year old man.”

“Raul leave the boy alone.” A woman called out from behind, and the two males turned their heads whilst the others walked away.

“But mama, it’s fun playing with little Bobby.”

“He may be a youngster, but let me tell you that compared to you he’s no little man.”

Raul slightly rolled his eyes, remembering how despite the age between him and his ‘friend’, there was no denying that Robert was far taller than he was.

“I know, I know…but he’s afraid that some goop’s gonna bash his head while his wife swoons over his cute little clown cheeks!”

Robert shook his head as Raul’s mother let out a chuckle, the old woman understanding the constant struggles her adopted son experienced due to his small town job as the popular clown loved by every child: Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

“Mama, I swear I can go-”

“Bob, honey. There is no reason for you to beg, you’re old enough to work and get paid, so you’re old enough to go home. Now go already before the tent is overrun with angry men.”

Robert smiled and nodded before leaning down to plant a quick kiss on his mother’s cheek before he turned and dashed out of the tent he hid in to remove his costume and makeup.

“Mama I think I shou- OW!”

“Shut your mouth already Raul, you’re not always going to be there for Robert.”

Elsewhere, Robert had stopped his running to now stroll along the noisy streets of his beloved, little Old Derry. His lanky arms swung at his sides as they were concealed inside a baggy old shirt handed down to him by his brother, along with the large overalls he was currently wearing.

“Good afternoon Robert!”

“Back to you, Mr. Smith!”

“Hey there Bob!”

“Hiya!”

Robert waved at every person who greeted, surprised yet glad that he wasn’t being chased down by some mother, single or not. He took a loud sniff and felt his smile turn into a grin when the scent of chocolate hit his nostrils. The man stopped walking to close his eyes and sniff the air, finding the source to his right where he found one of his mother’s male friends making some of the delicious treat. Bobby licked his lips before he sneaked over to the building and entered, not realizing that the man had originally planned this.

“Hey there Bobby! How are you doing on this mighty fine day?”

“Oh quite well Mr. Hershel, thought my day was bettered once I smelled whatever it is you’re brewing up!”

“Ah, I see you smelled my chocolate, eh?"Robert happily nodded and peered at the pot the man stirred a spoon in. "You know, the recipe has been in my family for some time and whoever joins the family gets to learn it!”

“I do believe you’ve mentioned that quite the few times sir."the ginger man smiled, finally realizing where this was going. "Um, and how much was a single bar again?”

“Five cents my boy, but for you, it’s on the house.”

“Really-”

“If you take my daughter out to a nice little picnic.”

Robert froze in his spot with a blank expression before his nervous smile crept up as he reached into his overalls’ pocket.

“I’ll just pay you your five cents…"he whispered before handing him the amount and quickly exiting the shoppe with his new treat. He made sure to walk as far away from the building as he could before continuing his calm and normal pace from before, unwrapping his candy to take a small bite and hum in satisfaction. Though once again, his temporary state of harmony was interrupted when he felt a small tug on his clothed leg. He glanced down and noticed a little boy who smiled and waved at him, knowing that his idol stood before him.

"Hey there kiddo! You lost your way?"he asked as he wrapped up his chocolate and placed it inside his front pocket.

"No, my mother wanted me to run over to you so that she cou-”

“Jamie!Oh, Jamie! I thought I lost you!"and cue one of the usual, flirtatious mothers that could not keep herself away from the young clown. "Bobby! I see you’ve found my baby, how could I ever repay you?”

“Haha, there’s no need of repayment Mrs. Johnson-”

“Oh Bobby please, call me-”

“Mrs. Johnson, I really must get going. My mother is waiting for me at home with dinner, so please excuse me.”

And before the woman was able to speak another word, he cleared his throat and smiled politely before waving at the child who waved back, and walked away. Once Robert turned a corner and was completely out of sight, he scurried away so that the woman was not able to reach him , or any women in fact.

He paused his running to press his back against a wall and take a breath, worried that turning any way would have him face another woman who would ask about his newest upcoming routine, or compliment him on his skills with children, or ask about his relationship status or ask why he had no children, especially a wife.

But soon enough, Robert has his thoughts interrupted when he heard music and laughter near his current location. Out of curiosity and a bit of worry, the male slowly dragged his body along the wall until he reached the end and flipped over so that his chest was place on it instead. In a slow and steady pace, he planted his long fingers on the edge of the building he hid behind before he nervously poked his head out to check out the source of sounds, and to make sure that there would be no familiar women that constantly poked at him.

Rather than having his worrisome thoughts be true, his blue eyes widened when they caught sight of a large crowd of people huddled in a circle that danced around another circle, and another: every single one of the circles cheering loudly whilst surrounding something in the center.

With curiosity filling him, Robert squinted his eyes before climbing onto one of the ladders on the side of the building to catch a better view of whatever it is the people danced around. Despite the higher he climbed, he could still not see what was creating such a joyful ruckus, so he shrugged and decided to take the risk and walk a little bit closer.

He hopped off of the ladder and followed the group before hiding himself behind a tree, thanking his thin figure for once because of its ability to easily hide behind almost anything. Robert peeked his head out again and sighed for a moment when the sea of people expanded and allowed much more access to spot the center, but it still was not enough. The young man stepped out from behind the tree and neared a pile of bushes which he crouched down behind of and soon enough, he felt his eyes widen when they landed on rosy red cheeks and a pearly white smile that released melodic giggles.

“Who…who is that?"he asked himself, never realizing that somebody crept up behind him and watched Robert’s expression somehow fall into a goofy one that could only be seen when he wore his makeup and performed for his young fans.

His eyes caught sight of a girl that he had never seen before, a girl who danced as if nobody watched her whilst everybody circled around her. Robert felt his eyelids slightly drop so that they were now half lidded as they continued to stare at the girl who held onto her dress with one hand and had the other swaying in the air along to the music.

"That, would be Old Man Gordon’s daughter."he heard behind him before he slightly jumped in surprised and snapped his head behind him, seeing Raul squat next to him as he chuckled. "They just moved here, and everybody’s pretty glad to see 'em here. Especially since her daddy brings good business!”

Robert rolled his eyes before he glanced them back to the girl and noticed that a man approached her with a serious face before he clearly told her to stop whatever it was she was doing, but she smiled at him before grabbing his hands and swinging them around so that he could join her dance. It brought surprise to Robert when the man gave into her and began to follow her lead and laughed along with the girl, then realizing that it was her father who was quite different from the ones he usually encountered in Derry: strict and no fun.

“Hey Raul, care to give me some details about this new family?” Robert asked, never taking his eyes off of the girl who smiled a smile full of a amount of saccharine that beat his chocolate bar any day and had locks that he wanted to entangle his fingers in. Her skin looked ever so smooth and her face…god her face made his heart thump like a woodpecker on a tree.

“Sure thing buddy, that man right there is her big daddy who moved here after remarrying, since his little girl’s mother died because of a disease or somethin’. From what I heard, the doll’s 19 and ready to have her hand asked for, though  I’ve also heard she’s just like you.”

“How so?”

“She’s had and got a plenty of suitors right behind her, but she ain’t gonna give in to them that easy.”

“A girl like that? Of course she’d have the hounds following after her like pups.”

“Take’s one to know one Bobby.”

“Shut it Raul…"he demanded with his rarely seen serious face that now matched the red cheeks he painted on every day, then shaking his head to glance at the girl who pranced around with her father who danced like a young man and not one of his age. "What…what even is her name?

"Oh, her name,right…if I heard correctly, I do believe it’s…”

The Good Place (2016)

I chose to start watching this only because I was at a very low point in my life in terms of facing a dearth of TV-derived entertainment, having just finished Virgin River (2019) and Sweet Magnolias (2020). Both Virgin and Sweet are not what you'd call .. uh... productions of any real calibre or value or perhaps worth at all, like you can be certain that no niches were filled when they were realsed into the Netflix ether... But they also happen to be epic masterpieces by sheer fact of how banal and predictable and PG and saccharine and inconsequential they are, the best of the suburban vanilla Hallmark Movie genre, and basically they rock af ok?? and so when I finished both first seasons of the two series I was left empty and thirsty. And it was in this lostness that I turned to The Good Place, thinking it would be as enriching in it's simplicity, as palatable in it's shallow distraction, qualities I generally look for in the fodder to keep my eyes engaged on something that isn't the clock when I do my daily evening indoor cardio.

So maybe I should first set the stage by establishing that I simply fucking hated this series lol. I couldn't get past episode 12 (I know, this makes it sound like i already gave it way more time than it deserved, which is the truth) of the first season, because once I decided I'd had enough, it was really fucking enough and I couldn't give it one more second.

As always, here's my shoddily written premise of the series; I don't want to put much effort into capturing it's essence well because idgaf about this dumb show seriously fucking hate it lol but anyway: Eleanor (Kristen Bell) dies on earth, and goes to 'The Good Place', where all souls who were much more good than bad while living on earth go to upon their death, as opposed to The Bad Place, where the bad people go. There’s some mathematical calculation for this heaven and hell allocation basically. So the good place (i can't be bothered to capitalize it every time i type it anymore lol sorry), is run by a head architect who has designed and is in charge of the neighbourhood our characters live in, and he has a female robot assistant, Janet, who is the omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient right-hand lady who can also be called up by any good place resident who has any question for her, anytime. Anyway Eleanor, after dying on earth, was actually sent to the good place by accident, because she was actually a completely irredeemable asshole but due to some dumb boring never-happened-before error, she was sent to the good place instead of the bad place where she actually was meant to end up. Here she makes a small group of friends, some to whom she is eventually honest about the fact that she does not actually belong in the good place, and it is because of this incorrect placement that the good place is crumbling and its inner workings are going haywire etc and everyone suffers from the consequences. So blah blah blah soon we find out that it is not just her, but also some other guy who is here by mistake, and so blah blah blah etc yupp

So here are the things that suck about this show:

So there’s this other guy who also doesn't belong in the good place and who was also sent there by accident, his name is Jason okay but umm it's complicated because the person he was mistaken as (and the actual 'good person' who was intended to be sent to the good place while Jason was meant to be directed to the bad place) is named Jian Yu, a Taiwanese monk. Jason however is a Filipino-American from Florida and I guess his character is meant to be a stereotypical 'White trash' character, but it's meant to be funny or some shit so we aren't meant to be deeply affected by fact that his life was fucking sad, like how his small-town dreams were meant to be comedic relief for us to laugh at how pathetic he is when ... i dunno, I feel very uncomfortable making a joke out of real-life situations that umm aren't funny at all idk whatever... Oh also the weird (dumb/shitty/lame/thoughtless) thing about the show is how even once it is revealed that Jason is in fact his Jason-y, oblivious, infantile, one-dimensionally-tropey self, the characters who know the truth still continue to call him Jianyu throughout...? But like.... he's not Jianyu lol?

So anyway, Jason is characterised quite disturbingly to be honest as an extremely immature dudebro, to the extent that one could call him child-like. In his unhappiness at being stuck in this weird world where he can't be himself and has to pretend to be Jianyu most of the time (which involves being a complete ascetic as well as silent because the real Jianyu had apparently taken a lifelong oath of silence), Jason latches on to Janet the robot assistant. He says she is the only one who has been kind to him, etc etc etc, and begins ummmm, falling in love with her. But because he's painted as a literal baby with absolutely no rational or critical thinking skills, him falling in love with her is meant to be uhh earnest and sweet or at the very least inconsequential and jokey I guess? But like... this isn't funny...? Not when sex robots are a real thing and will probably lead to the abuse, violation, murder of millions of women in time to come because men will be so used to putting their penises into awfully, scarily 'life-like' dolls whose limbs have been programmed to move and who can even utter words of affirmation to their degenerate users that actual human females will no doubt bear the brunt of being expected to perform in life and in bed similarly to our robotic counterparts...? Yea so the good place disturbingly first makes us almost forced to feel some endearment toward Jason for finding a kindred "soul" in robot Janet, glad that he finally has "someone" to "talk to" (quotation marks cos once again she's a fucking robot), and it's all very "pure" and "wholesome" at first because again, he's portrayed as a fucking kid (one piece I read describes the character as "a sweet ding-dong human"). And then suddenly, about one or two episodes after they fall in love or whatever, Jason says:

You guys have fun. This is me and Janet's honeymoon, so we're gonna go try and figure out how to have sex.

Yeah umm so once again, in case any of you forgot, Janet's a fucking robot. If I use a scale of human consciousness out of 100 where a regular human's sense of self and awareness and independent thinking and authonomy and whatever else makes us human is at 100, Janet is probably at .... 10? at most? So yea.... i guess rape jokes are okay these days? I dunno? Literally how the fuck were there 3 entire seasons of this dumb show after this

Anyway when I attempted to put in *some* effort before I gave up, realising this show wasn't worth my precious weekend downtime, I googled Jason and Janet's relationship to see if there were any other similar voices of dissent but umm apparently, according to the headlines of articles, this is instead public opinion:

So yeah I guess it's okay to have sex with robots if they actually become 0.0000001% more human-like each time they come back to life though!!!!! Sorry for overreacting guys!!!!!

Seriously though how the fuck are they even using the word 'romance' in good conscience to describe the 'relationship'

Actually as I'm writing this I'm reminded of this video by Pop Culture Detective on youtube, titled "Abduction as Romance". Jonathan the host/video creator goes through various movies through history and from contemporary cinema of this unbelievably damaging and disturbing trope, where women are shown to eventually fall in love with men who have essentially, in some way or another, abducted them, annyway here it is if anyone's interested 

I’m calling up this video because in the shows used as examples in Jonathan’s thesis, the female characters fall in love with the men just because the men happen to be the only choice they have. Okay I actually only managed to get through a quarter of the video because it was too disturbing and too awful to think about how frequently such plot points are used till today and how so much of the shitty love we see on screen is completely abusive in nature (he’s also made another video called Stalking for Love which I’m sure is as eye-opening, i haven’t watched it cos i don’t need to lol, i’m already woke thanks), but anyway the bit that I did manage to watch does remind me of this stupid love story from The Good Place that we’re supposed to be moved by. We’re seriously supposed to believe that Janet, through her reboots and whatever awakenings of consciousness she supposedly has, also has feelings for Jason just because he’s the only pathetic dumbass immature enough to think that he has feelings for her because she’s the only person who’s willing to listen and talk to him properly? When ummmm she’s only listening to you because she’s programmed to...?

Honestly I can't be bothered to talk about freaking Janet and Jason anymore

There are other things that suck about this dumb show

I don't know what kind of character development Eleanor (protagonist) goes through in the seasons that succeed that I shall never be audience to, but she remains unlikable in almost every way in season 1. This is even though the entire premise of the plot is that she learns to become a better person with each day, struggling to distance herself from her past (on earth) where she was every caricature of a selfish, cruel, demeaning, unlikable person ever. The few and short flashbacks we get to her earthly past are so annoyingly annoying that it made it almost impossible for me to continue to care for this charatcer her in her afterlife. I know, being in the profession that i am, i should have a great deal more empathy for her and where she's coming from (and i would if the show was not so fucking shitty), so i'm not hating on the fact that she was such a bad person, more so that the creators of the show did little to give us anything real to hold on to at all. Between boringly unreal dialogue, stilted acting typical of American sitcoms, overly defined character traits again typical of dated, unchallenging and unsophisticated American sitcoms, I honestly can't understand how on earth this is rated 97% on rotten tomatoes... I mean I guess if I actually read the reviews I'd understand but hehe I'm not about that open-minded, balanced POV narrative okie? :)

Updates: Haha so ummm eventually I was too bored / curious so I decided to give this show like it’s fourth chance or something and eventually I ended up finishing the entire series and yes I cried as fuck and yes this series made me feel many feels and no I shall neither take back anything of what I said above nor clarify how or what made me change my opinion on it nor elaborate on why I ended up rather enjoying it :-) bye bye
