hi comet! so sorry to bother you but i'm looking for a fic i read like half a year ago. might be even more. im not sure whose it was so if you might have any idea who wrote it or which fic it was, i'd greatly appreciate it. it was really angsty and it ended with a major character death (tw suicide). it was a longer dewther fic and one of the premises was that dew accidentally burnt copia and he had to stay in the infirmary. and the ghouls basically shun dewdrop away, ignoring him. and then some stuff happens and it basically ends with dewdrop writing letters to the ghouls and papa before he kills himself (idk how to word this without sounding insensitive, im so sorry). and the rest of the ghouls plant a tree on a hill and one of the last lines of the fic was from aether who said "you'll never miss another sunset again". the fic left me so broken, i was sobbing at like 2AM. if you might have any clue who made it or what fic it is, pls pls pls i really need to read it again for the catharsis. if you have no clue, that's okay and I'm sorry for bothering you! hope you have a great day<3

Not a bother at all. And I do know the answer to this one (for once)!! It's Suspended Reality by @miasmaghoul!! One of my favorite fics that has ever come out of this fandom. I think about it ALL the time (though I haven't re-read it in a LONG time because it makes me ugly sob every single time). I screamed at Miasma about this like non-stop while she was writing/posting it because it was ruining my life in all the good ways.

What book are you currently reading?

Born To Be Hanged, a book about the William Dampier/Lionel Wafer/Basil Ringrose piratical voyage in the late 1600s, and also The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System. I switch between them frequently depending on mood. They are both overdue at the library and my account has been suspended so I really need to focus on them and stop reading fic instead. Anyway.

Three ships: Lets see...narrow it down to three...hmmm...

Spideypool. Don't judge me, they're precious little cinnamon buns and deserve good things. I suppose I have to state why I like them, huh? I like the back and forth with these two, they're sassy little bastards and they know it, while not shying away from the heavier stuff. They're hopeless but they compliment each other nicely.

2) Stolitz. I will go down with this ship. I love them. I need them to be happy. They're both going through hell (ha, literally!) and they need to work through some stuff but it's obvious that there's a real connection between them and if you ask me, they need each other. I also relate to Blitzo a fair bit so I want to see him happy...

3) Merthur. The Merlin fandom is the once and future fandom. Never let it die. WE WILL RISE AGAIN, STRONGER! *ehem* got a little carried away there...been watching a liiittle too much JackSepticEye content I think xD I don't think I need to explain my love for these two dorks, do I?

First ever ship:  Jeeeeeeez, we're going back a fair few years 'ere, lads. Christ, what was my first ship...? ... Oh! Probably Zoisite x Kunzite and/or Haruka x Michiru from Sailor Moon (1992)... Ooor Tori x Julian from Cardcaptors (1998) (Sorry, English dub names). Not sure who I shipped first, I was like...seven at the time.

As for agonising earworms, there's been a lot of Christmas songs playing recently and every time I think "Oh Gods this is annoying" my brain, oh-so-helpfully goes "Annoying!? This morning I had "Driving Home for Christmas" by Chris Rea competing with "We Don't Talk about Bruno" from Disney's Encanto (which I love, don't get me wrong, but last time I got it stuck in my head it was there for three weeks!)

Last Movie:  "Goodnight Mister Tom" (1998) ...what? It's a classic. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a watch, it's very wholesome.

i write a lot of dark topics. a lot of my writing digs into mental health, psychological & body horror, as well as surrealism. big emphasis on horror. BIG EMPHASIS.

i used to draw my own comics and write them do those count lol i started at like 8 or 9 i believe. my teacher found out and she wrote it into my report book at the end of the year and said i was creative lmao

i have a bunch of published work on aff and a bts fic hit 600 subscribers so that was fun. definitely not tumblr.

5. what is your favorite genre to write?

slowburn angst is my fav. i think i have some magic talent for writing a slowburn romance that ends up in flames HAHAHHA i mean, as exhibited in hostis and lmll, though the endings are vastly different

6. are you a pantser or a planner?

depends. for hostis i was a pantser LMAO i wrote and published it as and when i liked to. i could post a chapter without having begun on the next and somehow I'll still get it out in the next 4 days.

for lmll i finished it WAY before hand and by the time i published c15 i was already done with the epilogue.

for my other non-series pieces i just think of a plot that i buy and i can see in my head then i throw in a song or a playlist to guide the vibes of the fic before i start

7. one-shot or multi-chapter?

ok i personally LOVE writing multi-chapter because it helps with building suspense and keeping readers waiting for the next chapter etc, and i have more time to plan/more opportunities to make time gaps or time jumps without making it awkward. like i don't think i could've written lmll which had a plot timeline of about 4 months in 1 chapter.

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

i think if it fits the vibes and gets the accurate idea out then all's good

9. what is your longest published story?

no clue. it's either hostis or lmll because they were both 20 chapters. i have a w1 fic that crossed 10 chapters, an nct fic that crossed 190 pages on word doc (in which idk how many words that is), a few bts fics that are also of comparative length. honestly idk lol.

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

i really love writing fantasy honestly and slowburn angst honestly. i grew up watching stuff like winx club, teen titans, harry potter as well as horror movies like IT. my dad and i are also avid watchers of the dc/marvel franchise and I'm lowkey obsessed with the idea of people having powers and abilities so this explains works like atlantean, siren, the sinister seven, the enigmatic eleven. i loved working on spiderman juyeon.

i loved writing lmll too (over hostis WOOPS) because i just bought their relationship so much more than the one in hostis WOOPS X2 and i was particularly proud of myself for making my readers sob in the last 3 chapters of lmll. some of them cry around the mid point too because that's when my tsundere oc starts opening up :")

11. favorite request you’ve written and why?

this one.

would you believe me if i said i didn't know what to write right off the bat LMAO but it ended up being one of those fics that i go back to to read the tags in the rbs and the feedback

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

a lot of angst. unrequited love that's later being reciprocated. wanting to protect someone. the knawing feeling of knowing that you're about to lose someone but you can't do anything about it. obligations in career. mismatched long term goals between couples.

i can't even count because i don't actually know which ones I'm gonna actually work on

14. three things you have noticed about your writing?

i include actions a lot within dialogues, i find it more natural to do that since you're not a statue while speaking

i use a lot of one-word descriptives when there's like a scare scene or like a revelation. like 'blink.' 'turn.' 'he stops.'

if i want to make my readers cry, i just need some good music choices to drive my motivations.

15. a quote you like from a published story?

uh... no clue. i feel like my quotes work best given the context like- when jang won says 'love me a little less' in lmll, which is also the title, and you'll find out why she says it later on.

i. i am not your mother’s/father’s yu.ffie blog. while i do have a verse reserved for compilation content, that’s not the main premise of this blog. if you came here for oversexualized underage ninjas.... i’m going to have to direct you elsewhere. out here we’re primarily an adult modern interpretation... who does not daylight as a ninja constantly. she can, however, be a y.akuza or a sheltered member of high society who enjoys kicking ass for justice so if you’re interested in that, y’know. c’mon down.

ii. the typical ‘ yu.ffie is a kleptomaniac ’ / ‘ stop stealing my stuff ’ trope is like. one that grates my very existence. i have talked about this many times, but for those of you who are new: yufi has only stolen out of necessity to her cause. the only time i’ll refer to petty theft on this blog is if she like steals a fry or something. if we’re joking around, okay, but... please don’t consider that to be the sole core of her characterization. i’m begging. i’m on my knees. i’m warning you, i’ll cry and then i’ll probably ignore whatever post you’ve mentioned it in if you’re serious. just. don’t be that person if you’re following me.

if we’re going into it, the only times she’s stolen anything were: > in crisis core, as the ‘ treasure princess. ’  but this is arguable, as the treasure is truly up for grabs to start with & zack repeatedly goes after these locations she’s sent to him ( which, by the way, were sent to her from rufus to attempt to retaliate against + destroy shinra hq ). zack already knew what was up when: 1) she showed up in his spam folder; 2) she literally said she’s on the hunt for treasure; and 3) he knew at least after the second time that he was gon’ get goinked ( please see definition #2 ) so... can’t help him there. > in vanilla vii, when the party is foolish enough to meet her and not recruit her off the bat ( it be ya own self ). to be fair, 99% of her interactions with easterners / non-wutai prior to that moment had been people who either wanted to kill her or exploit her, so... it’s only self-preservation to use them before they use her or worse, leave her for dead. a sad reality for a 16 year old. > in vanilla vii, only after the party arrives to wutai & she thinks she can successfully finish her mission of “ getting all the strongest materia. ” after she’s captured, she does apologize, and then afterward makes cloud sign it in writing. so. y’know, she did learn from her mistake & said “ ugh, guess i gotta put that diplomacy training to use. ”

y’all could argue that she’s a thief class and that’s what they do, but note that it’s NOT one of her core skills-- it’s a MATERIA. which means everyone out there with a steal materia could be out here being a kleptomaniac. cloud? barret? tifa? red xiii? none of your favs are safe. her skills in the game, however, are shit called “ blood festival ” ( oh? see the username’s relevance all of a sudden? aha! ) and “ doom of the living. ”  she’s out here summoning ghosts and reigning otherworldly power on ur ass but... fandom wasn’t ready for that conversation !!  some folks were too BASIC and couldn’t handle her true strength... so i will gladly champion that for you.

iii. i like to emphasize that yufi is an emotionally strong yet traumatized figure, which stems from her origins and that i just put that in the forefront. we have a character who is haunted by her mother who died after childbirth, seemingly rejected from her father yet held to the highest of his standards, has attachment issues because she’s the “ black sheep ” and doesn’t just accept defeat or dejection even if it comes from her core community, survived multiple wars, has led in post-war rescue efforts on multiple occasions, was wrongfully imprisoned, was on the forefront of pandemic outbreaks as a first-responder, joins and rises to the top of an organization created to restore world order, is one of the two top operatives in said organization ( and the one out on the field longer--sorry vin.cent, but u only got involved at lu.cretia and when the actual gunshots disturbed your brooding and wine session filled isolation sessions. but like, mood tho ), pretends to be cheery despite clearly remembering all the hauntings and death and other bullshit she’s been facing since she was a toddler.... oh, and she disarmed bombs when her country was wrongfully targeted + used as political bait for terrorists...when she was a child. that’s canon, if we’re talking about  “ accuracy. ” even in vanilla vii, she had no outlets, no one to turn to, ‘cause everyone was cloud vc: “ not interested. ”  

so if you’re on this blog, it’s not like you won’t see happy  yufi... but realize that i recognize that she is multifaceted and has a lot of baggage. emotional issues which unfortunately i bring to every verse gfdohfofh but u know, it’s core to her character + y’all gon have to deal, or... idk, go find another yufi. i’m not forcing you to be here.

iv. in my opinion, the best plotting comes with ooc conversations/interactions. i’m not saying if we plot that we’re required to be friends, ‘cause i don’t wanna force anyone into friendship, but i truly believe that if you want super deep plots with frequent interactions, we should... probably talk more than once. pretty simple, imo !  sometimes people claim i play favorites, but i really don’t... if you never talk to me and you don’t respond to my attempts to interact, then how am i supposed to know you’re interested? 

as a general rule, i’ll put in as much effort as i receive. if i see you’re interested in me, if we’re really vibing when it comes to plotting, if you’re sending asks & liking posts, we’ve got some threads going, rad !  if i like starter calls and send you asks and message you and you never respond to me... ?  i’ll take that as a sign you don’t wanna talk + i should move on to someone else. if i’m wrong, well... do something to change my mind.

a random thought:

The wizarding world makes zero sense in so many places. They haven’t had an Industrial Revolution, meaning they haven’t known first hand the new ideas that came with it, and they seem to be stuck in the Middle Ages in many ways, even if they dont seem extremely Christian as these times actually were. We know little about the political system and their beliefs are so random. It’s really confusing.

An unpopular opinion:

Idk what’s unpopular these days. Aside from Albus’ name, I actually liked the Epilogue.

It showed what we needed to know: that Harry and the rest made it out okay. They found the courage to face their destroyed community and rebuild, even though they had gone through enough during the war. I think JKR said it herself in an interview how important rebuilding is after a catastrophe, how it can daunt even the bravest people. The miracles of Japan and Germany bouncing back and better after WWII are relevant real-life examples here. 

A married Harry, enthusiastic about hugging his kids goodbye on their first day of school, a day that to him symbolises a new beginning, is the greatest gift and it does not erase the pain he might feel every day for going through hell in his early life. In fact, it’s this snipet of normalcy what he craved as a boy and refused to daydream about because its weight would be too much,and now he gets to have it. Along with the nightmares and the PTSD and the new challenges yes, but now, in this moment, as he waves to the new generation that he helped create, he’s safe, loved and happy. He deserves it. 

Second unpopular opinion: I don’t give a damn if McGonagall’s timeline is screwed up by bringing her to life in the 20′s. Didn’t really matter to the story before and she’s a freaking badass and comic relief, which is the best combo ever. Is it fan-bating or whatever it was called? Sure. But if she makes the story better with her presense I give minus two fucks about when JKR originally said she was born (also, newsflash: people have the right to change HC’s, especially people who don’t shit about maths, like our dear creator)

…Snape? Not his character, but the positive light she gave him by naming Harry’s kid after him. It appeared she was clear on him not being an admirable person, but then he’s the bravest bloke ever? No, ma’am.

On a Fantastic Beasts note, I do hope they handle the backstories of all characters well. We’ll surely get back to this after the FB series are over.

 Favourite Friendship:

The Golden Trio, they work as a three-man-group better, I won’t devide them. Also, as a part-time writer I have to admire how the writing and dynamics were handled, it’s so hard to think as more than one person, not to mention three!

Character I most identify with:

PostAzkaban!Bellatrix feels she’s letting her master and herself down, and so do I. I keep looking for my former self. Who wasn’t much after all, but had some qualities I should recultivate.

When I started shipping them:

After I finished the books, so that’s since 2007. 12 cool, angsty years. 

My thoughts:

I love them, they’re my evil babies. In fact, I don’t even have reasons for loving them, as most shippers do, I’d just die for them, end of reasoning.

What makes me happy about them:

That they’re complicately made for each other in their unique goth way. And that in the end they had a kid, which I think helped Voldemort out a lot with his issues with intimacy and emotions.

What makes me sad about them:

That they died *sobs hysterically*.

Also in the books they have like two scenes together. (HE SCREAMED THO)

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

Seeing Bella’s character butchered down to a snivelling, slavish idiot, though these aren’t Bellamort fics usually.

In Bellamort fics, it feels like a cheat when it says Bellamort but it’s just Bella pining and Voldemort really not caring. I don’t have a problem with the POV, but it needs to be tagged as unrequited. Otherwise I’m open to perspectives.

Things I look for in fanfic:

Good writing, mostly.

I’m also a huge fan of Muggle!AU’s, so if you have that, I’ll read it, no questions asked XD

My wishlist:

I guess Bella would have been okay with Rodolphus, had Tom/Voldemort never been born.

And Voldemort/Tom would have been fine too with some nameless pretty woman he did not love but had to marry to keep face.

But I think that they would have never been truly happy with anyone else. especially Tom, he’d never be really comfortable with anyone.

My happily ever after for them:

VoldemortWins!AU, they conquer Europe, Bella is Minister for War, Voldemort the Emperor. Maybe they have a kid, maybe a couple more or none at all, who cares, the point is they live and fulfull their dreams of revolutionising the Wizarding Wolrd.

I also have a sappy afterlife!AU where for a while Bella is imprisoned at the family castle for having a halfblood little bastard, goes half-insane as Voldemort seacrhes for her (they had a spat right after they got there), and Delphi kills herself and goes to find her dad in small-child form. They finally get tgether and live deathly ever after in some Norwegian fjord in the frozen tundra. (it’s also my personal happy ending, only it’s cats and snakes)

How I feel about this character:

I love Bella. She’s a bitch and a sadist, but I love her.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character:

The one and only, his majesty the Dark Lord himself.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character:

Rodolphus, he’s her only friend.

Also, sad HC: Bella was very close to Andromeda until she got too involved with Voldemort and his cause, and they drifted apart. No one wept harder than Bella after Andy left, and it was her who spent days banging on the Tonks’ door to let them speak to her. Voldy could squeeze tears out of his shirt after she fell asleep on him crying about it.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Again, not sure about what’s unpopular.

I believe she suffers from genuine mental illness that tortures her a lot and makes her life (and her shared life with Voldemort too) very hard. Also I find her more self-doubting and reserved than most authors, hard working and largely indifferent to people who aren’t Voldemort.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

Actual romantic scene would have been nice, but HE SCREAMED after all. Let’s not ask for too much.

Favorite friendship for this character:

Rodolphus and Andromeda. Recently I’ve started Brotp-ing Sirius with Bella too, before they parted ways.

Sorry this took me an age to answer - I have answered this question a while back, I think it might be in my art tips tag! But to go through it fast, my process is something like

find a line or an exchange I want to deliver, or a topic I want discussed (usually happens randomly as I’m doing other things)

spend a million years just staring at a wall or at my ceiling or anything else as I build a whole scene in my mind to have the lines or topic take the form of an actual comic (might take two minutes, might take a month)

draw a rough sketch of the whole comic - I do this with all panels (and pages, when I separate a comic in pages) on the same canvas, so that I can look at the whole scene all together and get a good sense of the general flow of the storytelling. This process includes cutting panels, moving panels around, reshaping panels, trying different poses and angles for the same panels to find the right one, writing and deleting and re-writing lines till I’m sure the wording is what I’m going for*

line the panels - I mean the actual panels, the straight lines delimitating the panel, I line them all first and put them on a separate layer

line the people!! All the characters in every panel are lined in this stage

line the backgrounds! In case there are backgrounds and the comic is meant to stay in black and white, if not then color the backgrounds! (I always start coloring from the backgrounds cause they’re the boring parts and if I leave them for last I never do them ever #rip)

in case of black and white comics, we fill in flat, gray-scale colors at this point (or, as I’ve lately started doing, I only put down shadows and leave it at that). If it’s in colors, we color the people!

Write down the dialogue!! *at this point we change a lot of the dialogue again because enough time has passed since I sketched it that I changed my mind on everything, don’t be like me

you’re done!

All of it is done on one single canvas, unless it’s a comic with separate paneled pages in which case they’re all done on their own canvas but still drawn all together. That’s about it, hope it was at least a little bit useful!

It’sssss not really my thing actually - well, generally I’m a picky shipper with Bakugou anyway, not gonna lie, but the only interaction Baku and Shinsou ever had made it pretty clear Shinsou can’t stand him and I usually don’t ship Bakugou with people that don’t like him ??? I’m more drawn to his canon happy relationships honestly haha

A good concept which I’m always up for, but to be honest with you I’m more of a fan of the other way around :O like, Kiri is so good and bright and friend with everyone, jealousy might as well be something Bakugou’s used to by this point - but Bakugou, people tend to avoid him or think of him as rude and annoying, Kirishima wouldn’t be used to jealousy at all you know? So I like it that way around more haha

I wouldn’t call it an artblock, it’s more like… like your mind is one step ahead of your skills, I’d say. If treated right, you can turn that feeling into improving your art! What is it that you don’t like? Can you break it down to smaller things? Is it the line work or the coloring style, or even just the way you draw eyes or hands or noses? If you can focus on the smaller parts of what you don’t like in your style you can then look up a way to do the same thing that you do like, and practice that till you’re satisfied with it! One small thing might not mean much by itself, but putting all these small things together is how you make improvement happen :D
