The funny thing as to why I haven’t drawn them as much- was because I was struggling to design a costume for him..I took that long I know-

"You- you- you're the Monkey King?!" MK squawked.

The monkey demon crossed his arms, capelet and multicolored skirt fluttering from a mysteriously present explosion behind him. "The one and only! Now, where's my--"

"But there's no way!"

"...Huh--"

"I mean, you're the Heavenly Idol MK! You're my idol! I literally got the same nickname as you! You can't be the Monkey King!"

Honestly, it had more to do about all the fan letters he'd sent the Heavenly Idol and how MK felt about said idol also being his hero, and he'd rather not think about the very real possibility that that a diety like Monkey King had gone and seen all the blabber MK had to say about him. Gosh, that would be beyond embarrassing. Maybe MK should've just let the Demon Bull King stomp on him if he knew that this is where he would've ended up.

MK's blabber continued on as Monkey King-- and that was definitely, undeniably the Monkey King. Heck, MK even stepped on him in bug form! What kind of person was he?!-- watched in something akin to resignation. It was probably embarrassing to him too!! He was even checking his phon eto see how much longer he had before it was time to ditch MK!

"Hey, uh, kid? I'm going to come clean here--" Monkey King chuckled, putting away his phone. "I need to check back in with my bodyguards in like, five minutes, so jig's up. I've been watching you--"

Before MK could even begin to process what that meant, Monkey King bulldozed on.

"And I already, sorta know about the whole staff thing--can't really be a hundred percent sure because I've been kinda busy this whole time with all the photoshoots and rehearsals, but I know that you're perfect!"

"To what?"

"Be my... SUCCESSOR!"

A few hours later, while MK was having some victory noodles with his family, Mei pulled up the live feed of Heavenly Idol MK's current world tour. MK promptly choked on his noodles and wondered briefly how the Monkey King, for all his abilities, made it back to the other side of the globe within five minutes.

(Wukong didn't-- he got a scolding from the head bodyguard for it, but it was always a treat to get any form of attention, if he was going to be honest.)

"Okay, bud, let's make this quick. I gotta get back to set before my bodyguards notice," Monkey King said, hopping down from his nimbus and starting on a few warm up stretches. As per usual, he was dressed in his performance outfit, and MK would be more bothered about it if Monkey King wasn't consistently able to reintroduce him to Flower Fruit Mountain soil in the inconvenience of it.

"We don't have to do this everyday if it's inconvenient for you, Mr. Monkey King!" MK spluttered.

"Nah, don't worry about it, bud! Happy to be here!" The Monkey King stretched one more time before hiding his hands behind his back. "Let's get started, shall we?"

MK successfully lasted six minutes-- a new record.

(Wukong's head bodyguard also noticed him within a new record of ten minutes since his "bathroom break".)

"I can't believe you just up and two-timed me for Macaque! Macaque! Of everyone you could've chosen, you chose HIM!"

"I'm sorry, Monkey King. I just... I just wanted to make you proud. You're always so busy with show business and you obviously love it, so I figured that if I could learn some things on my own, you'd be proud of me."

Monkey King sighed. MK expected him to walk away then a then, bu twas instead surprised when Monkey King took a seat next to him, going so far as the wrap an arm around his shoulders and giving him a few awkward pats.

"I'm already proud of you, MK. What you've got? It's not something just anyone could have."

"That I can lift the staff?"

"Well, there's that, but I'm talking about your heart kiddo," Monkey King chuckled playfully. "Your heart is one of a kind, and it's in the right place. Everything else you're worried about? We can work on it another time."

"...Thanks, Monkey King."

At that moment, Monkey King's phone pinged with a text. He looked sheepish about it, but MK knew better than to butt further into Monkey King's idol busine--

"THAT GUY--" Monkey King jumped to his feet, growling at his screen. "He think he can just go and tell me to come back? AFTER WHAT HE DID????"

"...your bodyguard?" MK asked.

"YEAH! He's so dead to me when I get there!"

"I don't think you can go around killing your staff, Monkey King."

"Can't I? I already did it once--" MK doesn't think he wants to know the scandal behind that story. "--and he was asking me to give it my all earlier, so why can't I zip back there and show him my 'true power'. STUPID MONKEY! HMPH!"

Monkey King got on his nimbus and promptly zoomed away, probably to make good on the threat. MK didn't hear any scandals about dead Heavenly Idol staff, so MK wasn't going to think too deeply into it.

(Except, it was kinda weird that Macaque was not only a monkey, but also asked Monkey King to give it his all that day, right? Maybe not. MK was probably overthinking things. There was no way, right?)

"Hey, Monkey King, are you sure you want to be spending time here, with me, when you're still technically on tour?" MK asked, trying to distract himself from the fact that he just ate Monkey King's hair for New Year. If he promptly didn't think about it hard enough, maybe he'd delude himself into thinking that he just directly consumed good fortune or something.

Monkey King laughed. "It's no big deal, bud, really! It's my day off. No one going to be bothering us today-- THE FIREWORKS!"

"You had one job, MK, one job," Zhanshi chastised, pointedly shutting his laptop, and along it the clip of Heavenly Idol MK, dressed in full New Year Special stage outfit, flying around in a nimbus that was unmistakably the Monkey King's. The general public could be fooled into believing whatever lie the PR team comes up with, but there would be a select few who lived a touch too long or knew a bit too much who could put two on two together.

(Much like Zhanshi did, but unlike Zhanshi, would probably have less noble intentions.

But who was he kidding, his own intentions were far from noble.)

"Don't end up in public eye. We left you for one day."

"Hey, you don't get to say that!" Heavenly Idol retorted. "You did the exact same thing when you were on day-off, remember?"

Zhanshi whistled innocently and turned away from his charge on his wheelie chair.

"Hey! Don't ignore me!"

"I can and I will."

Heavenly Idol sighed in frustration. "Whatever. You need me to stay on the downlow for a bit anyway, right?"

"...That's the usual protocol, yes."

"Then I'll be off. I need to do something anyway."

"Like training your successor?"

Heavenly Idol heard the swivel of the office chair and looked back, but instead of white fur and a pair of lilac eyes, he was met with midnight locks and golden eyes, complete with three pairs of glowing ears.

If this were a conversation between the Heavenly Idol and his head bodyguard Zhanshi, then it'd be one of banter with negligible consequences. This, however, had just turned into a conversation between Monkey King and his warrior.

Macaque.

Wukong scoffed. "It's none of your business. Stay out of my way."

"Why couldn't you just be satisfied with what you had?! You had everything you could've ever wanted. You're stronger than anyone would ever need to be. You were happy with just the monkeys on the mountain, you were happy with just me. What happened to all that?"

Wukong watched the distorted image of his past replay in front of him for the hundred, maybe thousandth time. Maybe, of all the memories he'd gone and shattered beyond recognition, then maybe this one was probably the one he wouldn't regret breaking on purpose.

And yet...

"What happened to all your promises?! What happened to living a lazy life under the sun?! WHAT HAPPENED TO NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYONE EVER AGAIN?

"WHAT HAPPENED TO JUST COMING HOME SAFE?!"

Why did they become besties that sit and braid each other’s hair. Babysit a young Redson and have him have play dates with YingYing

Imagine the righteous cultivation peak lord scolding his fellow peak lords while a little red headed baby sat nestled against his breast.

YQY foaming at the mouth seeing another man (albeit demon monkey) casually strutting around SJ’s place. Sometimes half dressed. He knows it’s on purpose too. YQY is not quiet and Macaque could hear him from miles away.

YQY practically begging SWK to take Macaque but both are met with disgusted sneers from not only the two besties, but the peaks disciples. Especially LBH, whom Macaque and SJ practically co-parent.

Yingying and LBH often play dress up with Macaque who lets them see his original appearance before the incident with WuKong.

Wrathful Idol: Bearer of Madness

Hey guys. Just like Madness New World and Fell Guardian, there will be alternate versions of Wrathful Idol. Only one Wrathful Idol per character so Hank is completely exclusive to MK, no one else. Asura and Fierce Deity Link will get their own ward to protect. For now we'll be going over MK and his Idol of Madness. First part is here.

I really didn't like Mag Hank's clothing design so I changed it up alongside showing some modifications MK did on his doll form such as the tail. Whatever changes a ward does to their Wrathful Idol's doll form will reflect on their true form.

Hank J. Wimbleton and MK have a father-son relationship going on between them. They don't actually have an established home, squatting in whatever place they can and gather stuff to survive. There is no other Grunt in MK's world meaning Hank can be considered the 'last of his kind' like Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank.

This put him and MK in the crosshairs of a dangerous immortal called 'The Collector'. This individual loves collecting rare creatures to even species of people like some fucked up museum, turning his specimens into statues. Hank ends up on the Collector's target list.

Our failed Mag is in further trouble upon stealing enchanted weapons capable of killing immortals. It's forbidden for a mortal to kill an immortal, a law established by the Heavenly Court. Something that both Hank AND MK violated multiple times in self defense.

That's right, MK in this AU has killed people and it won't be the last. I'm not going into full depth but his first kill was around the age of 9. He'll be an assassin type fighter just like Hank is.

Anyway, this is brought up to Sun Wukong through a letter by Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. If the Collector isn't stopped then everything could escalate to the point Hank ends up fighting in the Heavens where the Collector lair lays close to. The Monkey King gets involved mainly to get Hank and MK in his protect custody. The father-son duo are wanted criminals by the Heavens.

He knows what happens to those who defy the gods' rule even for the sake of their homeland or family. Sun Wukong couldn't stand for it to happen again if he could actually stop it. The Collector is dealt with but Hank isn't allowing Sun Wukong anywhere close to him nor his son. Escaping by going for Sun Wukong's weakspot: his eyes.

In JTTW, Sun Wukong's eyes were damaged despite the furnace improving his powers and immortality. They're a weakspot that can be exploited hence why Hank uses stuff like flash bombs or tear gas.

The Monkey King going after the father-son duo leads Macaque into the chase. Unlike in canon, he doesn't give a shit about getting revenge on Sun Wukong. This monkey just wants to run his shadow theater and live a peaceful life.

Macaque wants to keep Hank and MK away from Sun Wukong as he doesn't trust the Monkey King to not put the boy's Grunt father six feet under. Like what happened to him in the Journey To The West. It's canon that Sun Wukong kills Macaque but under different pretenses than the show.

Hank J. Wimbleton doesn't want anything to do with either monkeys but it will soon come to ahead where he needs both of their help to keep MK alive alongside giving him an actual good life than one on the move.

Will MK become the Monkie Kid? Probably under the purpose of adding more protection from Heaven's Court while he's in the Monkey King's custody. Only reason he isn't retired yet in this is because Sun Wukong is required to have a successor take his place if the world falls into great danger. They were never specific on WHO he could choose which is a loophole he can exploit.

MK will meet the rest of his friends but at different points of time unlike in canon as I tend to screw with it here. Worldbuilding between both worlds and characters as they face the challenges ahead. By the way possible crackship ahoy, BloodEclipse which is Hank J Wimbleton x Sun Wukong x Macaque. Enemies to Lovers sort of deal.

Finals are killing me but I finally managed to finish this! It’s a sub AU to my Lost Calamity AU that literally came to me in a dream 😂 This sub AU was inspired slightly by Arcane, Honkai Star Rail aaaand maybe a bit of steampunk. Basically Wukong is a great inventor that MK admires. MK works in Pigsy's workshop and wants to be like his idol and mentor. Mei is a chaotic, runaway descendant that loves to race and often gets into street fights. Macaque became an informator after being betrayed by Wukong and is rising Liling alone while Wukong's not even aware of her existence. Liling shouldn’t probably be allowed to use explosives since she’s only 6 but oh well :) If you’d like to know more about the lore the asks are open and there surely be more comics and artwork coming soon ;3

Big Brother AU- a story about teenagers and their typical problems

Wukong is Mk's older brother and his idol. Wukong plays on the football team and studies for "good". Since Tang and Pigsy are busy at work, he takes care of MK as best he can: drives and picks up from kindergarten, helps with lessons, plays, etc.

Mk and Mei are children. Therefore, they go to kindergarten together, where there is also a Red Son.

The Red Son is in love with MK, but does not know how to show these feelings, so he just plays pranks: takes his bandage, says that he is stupid, etc.

Macaques....he's emo. Phah, sorry, but yes. Macaque is an emo guy and loves to watch anime, draw secretly in a sketchbook and... swear with a Wukong

These two thickheads have been in love with each other since 5th grade and pretend to hate each other

And,you know, if when they come to school holding hands, someone will shout:

- FINALLY!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE 5TH GRADE!!

Lets flip the script! What if, one day, while walking down the street, a producer saw one of the champions walking alongside the Reader and decided he would be the perfect idol with a bit of polishing. So they approach the Reader and their champion and asks the champion to be an idol. But before the champion could respond, the Reader chimes in, "I think you would make a great idol! But it's up to you."

How would they respond? I'm just spitballin' here, but I assume champions like, say, Mink would just flat out decline. But I can imagine champions like Macaque deciding to entertain the idea of being an idol, since their beloved Master thought it a good idea. Could I please have some headcanons for that?

Also, side note, since the Lady Bone Demon seems nonexistent and probably is nonexistent, we're never gonna see Mayor in this AU, are we?

The ones you would never be able to see on stage at all: Wukong, Mink

Mink would absolutely just dip out.

And considering not everything is changed about Wukong, you can't tell me he wouldn't have stage fright. And unlike in LMK, here it legit wouldn't be all that noticeable unless you pay attention to his body shaking, and him being more silent than usual.

Wukong would only ever perform something in private for just his Master, if he decides to actually go through with it.

The ones who would be too embarrassed/shy to give it a try: Red Son, Azure

Red Son may be looking for attention, but not this type of attention. It'd be a bit too much, especially if he makes a mistake.

And Azure just generally isn't used to having this many eyes on him, or the idea of performing.

Maybe they'd both try a bit in private with just the other champions and their Master around.

The ones who would be willing to try it out, even if just to entertain their Master: MK, Nezha, Ao Lie

It may take a bunch of practice, but MK can get the hang of performing things that are easy to memorize. Just hope he doesn't randomly forget about what to do once on stage.

Ngl, I can imagine that both Nezha and Ao Lie would most likely perform rather majestically with at least the choreography.

Though, Ao Lie would most definitely mess up more. He a lil clumsy, but he got the spirit.

The one who is already enough of an attention seeking drama queen and has no problem performing on stage: Macaque

I think the headcanon on this one is unanimous- Like- I don't think I need to explain all dem reasons why-

Like even despite the infection and all that- He do be a theater kid-

And about LBD and the Mayor...

Let's just say they do exist, but are being kept away by mostly the Reaper. :)

What if Netflix!Lin was in Lmk? (It's OK if u dont wanna answer or don't have one..)

I feel like it would be either a universe crossover situation that causes this; or an au where there's *multiple* Monkey Kings throughout history (perhaps the same family of siblings) that got lumped together ala mythological syncretism - why Roman and Greek gods tend to share stories/traits despite coming from two separate sources.

In the "syncretism" idea, I'd love if Netflix!SWK/"Cherry" was like the little brother of LMK!SWK/"Dawn", or even a version of Sun Luzhen from the fan-sequel book "Later Journey to the West". He's Dawn's wild little bro who idolized him growing up, but never managed to cultivate the dao or truly eat a peach of immortality.

When the original Havoc in Heaven happened, LMK!SWK was punished, and Cherry took on his role as Monkey King in his abesence.

However... the events of the Netflix film still played out, meaning that by the time Dawn was released, he assumed that his little brother had been killed/imprisoned indefinitely.

Dawn makes it into the modern day believing that he's lost his little brother.

Then suddenly a determined 6th century peasant girl falls through a portal, clutching said little bro?!?!

Both monkeys: 🐒 🐒 Lin, thinking LMK!Wukong is a different demon king: "ok don't get mad. I slipped him one of these teleporting pills we found in Wangmu's lab just before the Buddha closed his hand all the way..." Dawn: "I have no idea who you are kid... but I owe you my WHOLE LIFE!!!" *grabs both his little bro + Lin in a big hug* "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" Cherry, overjoyed: "I MISSED YOU TOO!!"

The LMK gang are just watching this interaction with complete puzzlement. Two monkey kings?? Tang is vibrating with curiousity.

Lin gets absorbed into Mei and MK's friend group as a fellow teen, which is great since she needs a lot of help adapting to the modern day. She takes to modern chinese writing very well, but dang if the internet still doesn't astound/confuse the Diyu out of her.

Both of the Monkey Kings are too busy being bros to take notice of anyone or anything. Dawn in particular is catching Cherry up on what his missed, how the Journey went, what happened afterwards etc... and Cherry is explaining the situation that led to him getting trapped under the buddha's other hand.

Btw theres also another Six Eared Macaque running around, so the gang are confused by *that* too. LMK!Mac follows this "other him" around is similar confusion/interest until they turn out to be members of the same near-extinct species.

swk is an idol type celebrity hero and protector of the most populated parts of space, but to fight he uses his kaiju form and hes spent so long in it that hes slowly retaining more and more kaiju characteristics in his normal form now hes like 8 foot and glowing. macaque ‘died’ and got brought back in an android body- his hearing ability combined with robot body means he can pick up signals from across the universe. nezha and mei work as engineers! theres a huge network of ancient signals that stretch across the universe swk is trying to decipher! THE STAFF IS A BIG SIGNAL TOWER! RUMBLE AND SAVAGE ARE LITTLE REPAIR DRONES! YOU DONT EVEN WANT TO KNOW ABT LBD! ITS A LOT OF FUN!

Explanation of the Au

Instead of Mk being found by Pigsy he is found by The Mayor and LBD, they realize he is extremely powerful and decide to raise him to use him their plans to fitful destiny later on.

Mk is brought up mostly by The Mayor with LBD stepping in where she can, neither of them knew how to raise a child so Mk had a bit of a rough childhood, this caused him to be a bit shut off later down in life.

There’s plenty more to this Au but I’m still figuring out how close I want this to be to cannon so have some little things for now

Notes:

- Mk is still Wukong’s successor and in the beginning tried to hide it from his family

- When Mk was found LBD gave him a little bit of her power, this is why he has white hair he also has a tiny bit of ice magic but it’s nothing compared to the rest of his powers

- Mk is a lot stronger because he was taught to fight by Macaque at a young age

- Despite being brought up with people who actively hate Wukong Mk still idolizes him even before he becomes his student

- Mk and Red Son meet before cannon and bond over having their parents trapped underground by Wukong

I have a lot more thoughts about this Au but I’m still building the story so I’ll share those with you later, for now enjoy some drawings of SoB Mk

No, wukong is not a bad mentor nor he is abusive towards MK, he's just really traumatized and impulsive.

MK won't blame wukong for shit, he won't hate him, he idolizes wukong. He just puts in mind his mistakes but forgives them like he did with everyone.

Macaque ain't some scared and uwu victim, he's very much an asshole and a manipulator.

We'll talk after his redemption arc.

No, mei ain't mean. She has every right to be mad at wukong, to he upset at him, and it wasn't her fault any of that happened. She's right and she is allowed to be mad.

pigsy is not a bad father figure, he actually cares about MK and he also like everyone is allowed to be mad at wukong, even though in the first season he showed some toxic work environment things.

I JUST WANT YOU PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THE CHARACTERS. PLEASE. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I'M SICK OF IT SO BAD.

#5 what's a fic idea you have but will never write?

Definitely a dance or singing/idol au,, like power to all those that make that type of au but that au will forever be in my head (also considering I struggle sm writing dance scenes already and characters singing. Idk why but they're difficult)

Like in my head I see Macaque as a theatre kid who can do everything. he can act, sing, and dance! So I had this idea where he basically shows off in front of everyone and you have Wukong in the background stewing in jealousy because that used to be his Macaque who would dance and sing for him and only him but now he has to share Macaque with the world and he's just not having it. So Wukong does what's best. Stealing whatever he wants. And in this case: Macaque
