Hi ! Do you have any books recommendations for someone who want to have a better understanding of Islam (on the historical aspect for exemple)? Beside the quran/hadiths. I want to learn more but I don't want Islamic propaganda or something overtly negative. Thanks!!! I love your blog and you're a great writter

No problem anon, I’d love to give some book recs! There are so many shitty books on Islamic history out there, and they’re shitty in many ways. It’s not just the ones written by Muslims that have problems. Some books are written by pop “historians” who have no business writing about this subject, others are from Orientalists who think Arabs invented civilization, others are from revisionists who don’t seem to have met a single Arab person in their lives. I have had to read through buckets of shit to find some gems. This is the true jihad.

I’m gonna dig through my bookshelf and mostly focus on the books that can be found for free online or in most libraries, just for the sake of accessibility.

I think a very good and very basic place to start is this… semi-series by Robert Hoyland, who is a professor at NYU. Hoyland was a student of a writer I’m not fond of (Patricia Crone, who did make some valuable contributions about the status of Mecca but was an extreme revisionist). But he’s not really like that at all, and his sources are basically impeccable. He has three books that I’d happily recommend for beginners, starting in the pre-Islamic era and going into the conquests:

Arabia and the Arabs* (pdf here). This is one of the very few works about pre-Islamic Arabia that brings in information from non-Islamic sources. It’s mostly about northern and southern Arabia (as in… not Mecca or anything near it) because those are the places mentioned by outside sources, but still. This is one of, like, three respectful books on pre-Islamic Arabia that I’ve ever read. I was so happy when I found it.

Seeing Islam as Others Saw It* (pdf here). I’ve linked this before in this post, so you can glance through that to see if the subject interests you. This is just a collection of early non-Islamic sources about the Islamic conquests. It’s a huge reference book, so feel free to skip around and just read the parts you’re interested in. It’s good stuff and may make you stan Muawiya a little purely based on his competency idk

In God’s Path: The Arab Conquests and the Creation of an Islamic Empire* (pdf here). I like this a lot, but I don’t agree with all of its conclusions. This is where you can see some of Crone’s influence, but it’s not super revisionist and there are some interesting ideas within it. Hoyland does significantly downplay the role of Islam as a faith here, seeing it as essentially a glue pulling Arabs together and uniting them into one political entity. The last three pages of Fred Donner’s frankly bitchy review… points were made. I still recommend it tho!His ideas on one of the driving forces of the conquests being the Arab “muhajirun” (applied to the conquering army as a whole instead of just the group that left Mecca) and their desire to settle in other lands is at least food for thought.

I’d also v strongly suggest reading up at least a little on the poor long-forgotten empires that dominated the Middle East before Islam’s glorious birth, the Byzantines and the Sassanids. In my experience, most ppl know very little about the former and nothing about the latter. But they were kind of, uh, important? So it might be worth reading a bit on them.

For the Byzantines, take your pick: do you want a dense scholarly book or a lighter but quicker read? The scholarly one I’d suggest is The Making of Byzantium by Mark Whittow (pdf here). The lighter one, Lost to the West: The Forgotten Byzantine Empire That Rescued Western Civilization* by Lars Brownworth (borrow), has a very ott title that reminds me of those “ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION SAVED EUROPE!!” books that I hate. But the content focuses far more on internal Byzantine stuff than its “legacy” or w/e. It’s definitely less academic than Whittow’s book, but on the plus side it’s way easier to read tbh.

If you really get into it and want to read more single-topic Byzantine books, I’d also suggest most of Judith Herrin’s books, including Unrivalled Influence: Women and Empire in Byzantium and Margins and Metropolis: Authority Across the Byzantine Empire. She also has a general overview of Byzantium (borrow).

There’s also a Byzantine history podcast, I stan it.

The Two Eyes Of The Earth* by Matthew Canepa (pdf here). This is half regular-history and half art history, but don’t let that scare you!! I know very little about art history and I found it easy to read. It’s REALLY GOOD and for a book you can find for free it lays out the relationship between the Byzantines and Persians really well.

For the Sassanids: Sasanian Persia* by Touraj Daryaee (pdf here) is a very brief, easy read and only around 150 pages long. It’s worth it just to familiarize yourself with the topic. A more in-depth rec is Arsacids and Sasanians by Rahim Shayegan (pdf here), which is a longer-term view of Persian history.

Arabs and Empires Before Islam* (pdf here) is a collection from multiple authors that touches on Arabs in relation to both empires, and extends its reach into South Arabia as well.

The Palestinian historian Irfan Shahid’s long series on Byzantium and the Arabs* has been made available online via the Dumbarton Oaks library. His work is a tad outdated nowadays, but it’s still a great resource. This guy has literally spent decades on this single topic and he provides us with his work for free…… a legend tbh. (The download links are on the top right of each page, if you can’t find them.) Honestly every book has worthwhile information in it, but on the topic of Islam/Islamic history you probably want the ones on the sixth century, since that’s when Mo was born. The full thing is like… 800 pages, so. Take it slow! Other scholars on Byzantine-Arab interactions include Walter Emil Kaegi and Greg Fisher, with Fisher being more skeptical of later Islamic texts than the other two. But I’ve read useful stuff from all three.

Now… if you are looking for some actual history about Mohammed and his earliest followers, just be aware that 100% of the information on The Life And Times Of Crazy Mo comes from Islamic sources written over a century after he died. All that anyone can do is dig through them and try to determine, based on whatever criteria, what is plausible and what isn’t plausible. I’d actually suggest you read the primary sources (as in the stuff written by Muslims over a thousand years ago) yourself, since that’s what all these books are based upon. If you don’t wanna slog through the big ahadith collections, you might wanna read one of these:

The Expeditions* by Mamar ibn Rashid (pdf here). I might suggest starting here, because 1) it’s short! (the page count is a lie bc it’s dual Arabic-English) and 2) once you understand the stuff in this, it’ll make reading the larger works way easier. This is a selection of ahadith narrated by a student of al-Zuhri, who was a student of one of the sahaba (Anas ibn Malik). So there is a short and very direct chain of transmission all the way back to the rise of Islam here. You can see how much of the “official story” of Islam was already decided-upon in the 8th century (a lot!), what spots were vague and still being filled in (90% of the pre-hijra days), and what was open to debate (tidbits like: when was the “year of the elephant”?). Note that this covers like… fragments of the story, it is not a full sira.

It’s interesting to compare the above to Ibn Ishaq’s long-ass sira (pdf here), which is from the same century. I might do a post on the differences between them at some point. Ibn Ishaq’s is referenced by virtually all later authors so it’s kinda… important to read it, even though it’s long.

There is another early biography by al-Waqidi (who was considered less credible by his contemporaries and deemed an outright liar by many of them), I don’t really care for it but you can read about the differences between his and Ibn Ishaq’s sira here. It’s still worth a read even tho al-Waqidi himself is questionable, but I can’t find a free English translation.

Muhammad and the Origins of Islam* by F.E. Peters (borrow) is a decent summary of the story, if you don’t feel like reading a sira. The book mostly just quotes from Islamic texts. But at only 300 pages, around a third of which is more about Middle Eastern history around the 7th century, it’s a pretty easy read.

There’s also al-Tabari’s 40-book-long history series (pdfs here), which covers like… everything up to the 9th century. You obviously aren’t gonna read this whole-ass thing but it’s useful as a reference if you wanna check up on a particular topic. I’ve read multiple volumes of this and I didn’t find them hard to read at all, they’re surprisingly short.

If you’re looking for a recent English-language biography of Mohammed and his followers, well. The truth is that there are very few decent English-language books on this topic, and by Allah, some are absolutely cancerous. I’d strongly suggest staying away from: 1) anything written by someone who is not a scholar of Islam, Arabic, or Middle Eastern history in general, 2) older ones written by Orientalists, especially the white guys who were in the habit of dressing in thobes, and 3) works written by Saudi or Qatari-funded scholars (who tend to work at places helpfully named after their benefactors). Also, pls do not read anything that begins a discussion of goddamn 7th century Arabia with “ever since 9/11…”.

Look for something fairly recent (like… since the 90s, maybe) written by a credible scholar of Islam whose work is favorably reviewed by his or her peers. And be aware that no book is going to get it 100% right because of the limitations I mentioned. I think this short article (pdf) summarizes what you should expect going into any of these works.

Since I don’t really like any of them, I can’t recommend any, but I can at least point you in the right direction, hopefully...

In my experience, single-topic articles (that you can read using scihub 👀) are way better and more informative than any books on the topic. I dunno why, but I think it’s just because each individual topic requires so much specialized knowledge that no one can write about the entire era convincingly. I’d be happy to suggest some articles on any particular subject you’re curious about.

If you want some scholarly “analysis” of early Islamic history:

Analysing Muslim Traditions by Harald Motzki (pdf here) presents a convincing argument against people who reject the ahadith because they see them as completely unreliable. The book is basically a defense of “the science of ahadith” created by scholars in the 9th/10th centuries. Not all ahadith are “real” in the sense that they can be plausibly traced back to Mo & Crew–but it’s pretty clear that many of them can be.

Islamic Historiography* by Chase F. Robinson (pdf here) isn’t about whether some parts of Islamic history are true or not–it’s more of a look at the development of Islamic historians and how they built upon the very early ahadith. Short and an easy read.

Arabic Historical Thought in the Classical Period by Tarif Khalidi is somewhat similar, but touches more on specific authors in a specific period. Khalidi is a big name in Arab Islamic studies, and a lot of his work is pretty decent, though I’ve noticed it’s kinda hard to find some of his books in libraries.

Sectarianism!!!

The Caliph and the Heretic, Ibn Sabaʾ and the Origins of Shīʿism by Sean W. Anthony (pdf here). This is a subject that I’ve been weirdly fascinated by for whatever reason. The guy it’s named after has long been accused of being one of the “ghulat”, meaning people who took Ali to be a divine figure in blatant violation of Islamic doctrine. (A book that goes into more depth on “ghulat” sects is Ghulat Sects by Matti Moosa, pdf here. The “extremist” subtitle means their religious beliefs, not terrorism.) A lot of legends and myths have popped up with respect to this guy and his place in Islamic history, and the author tries to disentangle all the stories and find the root of it all to find an actual basis for early Shiism, without the hateful propaganda that’s clouded it. Really good.

A more general overview of Shia history is Shi’ism by Heinz Halm.

The Heirs of Muhammad* by Barnaby Rogerson (borrow) is a very, very basic overview of the political clusterfuck of the Rashidun era. It’s not super scholarly and leaves out a lot of details, but if you don’t know anything about the topic, give it a try.

The Succession to Muhammad: A Study of the Early Caliphate by Wilferd Madelung (pdf here) is essentially a book about the title’s topic from a Shia perspective, or at least from an Abbasid perspective. It’s very… credulous, in the sense that it doesn’t question the sources, but it’s good if you want to know one side of the story. The Umayyads, and to a lesser extent Abu Bakr & Crew, are the bad guys here. Full disclosure: the author works at a place funded by the Aga Khan (Ismaili Shia leader).

The Ismailis by Farhad Daftary (pdf here) is an absolutely gigantic book that I would not recommend for beginners, but if you happen to be curious about the Ismailis–this is a historically important Shia group distinct from Iranians et al, who are from another sect called Imamiyya or “Twelvers”–here you go.

The Birth of the Prophet Muhammad by Marion Holmes Katz (pdf here). This is a single-topic book about Sunni (including Sufi) mythology surrounding Mohammed and his life. I’m not talking history here, but outright mythological elements, like Mo’s dad being glowy. This is semi-topical re: the crazies who blow people up for celebrating Mohammed’s birthday, but is also useful in understanding the process by which Islamic theology built Mohammed into a hell of a lot more than “just a man”. Slightly more specialized than the other books here, but I included it because I don’t think it’s so academic that you’ll be lost and confused while reading it.

Here are some basic overviews of the Umayyad and early Abbasid eras, which is when 90% of what we think of as “Islam” was crystallized:

Again, al-Tabari’s history series is really useful for these eras. The Expeditions and Ibn Ishaq’s sira also touch on some of this stuff. Don’t discount the classics! The only thing to remember is that all of these were written after the Abbasids overthrew the Umayyads, so obviously they have a certain angle to them. But they’re still useful.

The New Cambridge History of Islam (pdf here). A great, six-volume-long series of articles on a huge variety of topics of early Islamic history. Look through the tables of contents and pick an article that seems interesting, and give it a shot.

The Encyclopedia of Islam* (a tad outdated in places, but still great overall) covers this era and…. like, basically everything. It’s huge. I got all my pdfs of it from Tehran University’s site here, idk why that’s the only place where I can find it. The glorious Islamic Republic doesn’t gaf about copyright laws I guess. There’s also an Encyclopedia of the Quran (pdfs here), but that’s more for religious matters than historical stuff.

The First Dynasty of Islam: The Umayyad Caliphate* by G.R. Hawting (pdf here) is, imo, a very dry and scholarly book. But if you need an overview, it’s useful. It’s also only like 150 pages so it shouldn’t be too hard to get through.

Black Banners from the East: The Establishment of the Abbasid State by Moshe Sharon is an account of the Abbasid revolution and everything that led up to that moment.

Inquisition in Early Islam: The Competition for Political and Religious Authority in the Abbasid Empire by John Turner. I really wish I had a pdf for this one, but I don’t. This is probably more suited for someone raised Muslim or at least someone who already knows a bit about Islamic history–if you’ve heard of Imam Ahmad’s trial before the caliph al-Mamun, you’re good–but it’s a good look at how religious authority was handled by the early Abbasid leaders.

The Canonization of Islamic Law by Ahmed El Shamsy (pdf here). Oh boy, if you don’t really enjoy the legal side of Islam, this one will bore you to tears. Regrettably this topic is extremely important for understanding Islamic history, so try to power through it.

For some other Islamic empires, here are three books about al-Andalus, two of which I’ve already recced:

Kingdoms of Faith: A New History of Islamic Spain* by Brian Catlos. This one focuses more on the religious communities themselves, the relationships between them, and the conflicts within them.

Muslim Spain and Portugal: A Political History of Al-Andalus* by Hugh Kennedy. Kennedy has written a lot of books, and for me they’re very hit-or-miss. His style can sometimes be dry, and at other times he glosses over important details. But this one’s good. It’s…. well, it’s what it says it is, a political history. If you want intrigue and drama, here you go.

Philosophers Sufis & Caliphs by Ali Humayun Akhtar (pdf here). This is more about Islamic scholars in Andalus and focuses on their interaction with and responses to Fatimid (Ismaili Shia) ideology. A lot of texts on Andalus frame it as part of a European context (as in, devoting a lot of space to Christians), but this one puts it more in the context of the wider Arab world, which is helpful.

Ottomans!!!!

Osman’s Dream* by Caroline Finkel (pdf here) is a great and really in-depth summary of centuries of Ottoman history. It covers over 600 years, so forgive the length and take it one chapter at a time.

The late Halil Inalcik was a master of producing really good, in-depth books about Ottoman history with the driest titles you could possibly imagine. I’m pretty sure he is (or… was) one of the top Turkish experts on the subject, so any of his stuff is worth a look. The one I read was The Ottoman Empire: The Classical Age 1300-1600*. But if you can find any of his stuff at your library, you might wanna check it out.

Three books from Roger Crowley touching on the Crusades era, in order: City of Fortune: How Venice Won and Lost a Naval Empire*, 1453: The Holy War for Constantinople* (borrow here), and Empires of the Sea: The Final Battle for the Mediterranean* (yes the first one is mostly about the Italian city-states but there is plenty of Turkish nonsense too). I’ve recced these before but they’re great. There’s also an interlude about Acre called The Accursed Tower, which is likewise excellent.

Before Homosexuality in the Arab-Islamic World, 1500-1800 by Khaled El-Rouayheb. Well… not all of it is about the Ottomans, but a large portion of it is. Don’t be put off by the title–it doesn’t mean that gay sex didn’t exist before the year 1801. I don’t agree with all the author’s conclusions, but the sources he’s collected are still useful. Everything you could possibly want to know about pederasty is contained within, enjoy.

“Roxolana: The Greatest Empress of the East”*. This is an article, not a book, but it’s a brief summary of the Eastern European slave girl who used her body and mind to worm her way into the highest echelons Ottoman politics. I’ll write about this whole weird era someday.

The Ottoman Age of Exploration (pdf here) by Giancarlo Casale is the story of how the Ottomans tried and almost succeeded in getting in on the whole Asia imperialism thing. (Despite this occurring during the Ottoman heyday, you hardly ever hear them mentioned in discussions about it.) It begins with a man named Selim the Grim. If that doesn’t sell you on it, what will?

There is ALSO an Ottoman history podcast (+articles) although tbh the earlier seasons were better and more, uh, Ottoman-focused. It’s kinda more a Muslim history podcast now. It descends into academic jargon and glorification at times but there are still some gems to be found there.

Some of the important Shia dynasties:

Converting Persia: Religion and Power in the Safavid Empire by Rula Jurdi Abisaab (pdf here). Iran became Shia under the Safavids, which is… kind of important, for modern-day issues! So you might wanna read about it! Because this happened in the 16th century, there’s also a lot about geopolitics between them and the Ottomans, interactions with Asian and European nations, etc.

The Fatimids were a hugely important Ismaili dynasty that ruled large swaths of land, including Egypt, during ye olde “golden age” that they’ve been largely erased from. There are, unfortunately, very few decent overviews of the caliphate, but there are some nice “character studies” (for lack of a better word) so I’d suggest reading articles about them instead. There are some collections of essays, including a long series called Egypt and Syria in the Fatimid, Ayyubid and Mamluk Eras.

Maghrebi topics:

Black Morocco: A History of Slavery, Race, and Islam* by Chouki El Hamel is a recent book about a tragically underexplored topic, namely Black slaves in Arab countries (which is usually dismissed with “slavery wasn’t about race!!!”). This covers mostly the early modern era (~1600s-1800s) of Morocco.

A History of the Maghrib in the Islamic Period by Jamil M. Abun-Nasr. This is a 20th century book that’s kinda written in the style of an old Arab history book, but it’s still good. There’s a lot goin on in the Maghreb and keeping track of all the tribes and their loyalties is very difficult, so a basic primer like this is very useful.

Some miscellaneous dynasties:

The Empire of the Steppes* by René Grousset (borrow) is only, like, half about any sort of Islamic dynasty (Timurlane and the Timurids), but the early Mongols are part of Islamic history by virtue of killing lots of people, so! Might be worth a read. It’s an old-fashioned book, but it’s an intro to the subject.

The Millennial Sovereign: Sacred Kingship and Sainthood in Islam (pdf here) by Azfar Moin. I’m sure this is noticeable, but I know about 1) Arabs, 2) Turks, 3) Persians, and 4) Amazigh people, in that order. India is kinda beyond my wheelhouse, but I’m trying to learn more. This one was a good start and covers topics that you’ve probably heard of before (the Mughal Empire and the emperor Akbar) in great depth. It covers Iran and the Timurids too, but most of it is about India.

The Seljuks are another one where I’ve just been really unimpressed with the books I’ve leafed through tbh. The only one I’ve enjoyed and actually read through to the end was The Great Seljuqs: A History by Osman Aziz Basan, so if you can find that, go for it.

Books specifically focusing on women:

Women and Gender in Islam: Historical Roots of a Modern Debate* by Leila Ahmed (borrow). This is a Hot Topique as many of you know, and if you search for Islam+women you are likely to receive a bunch of bullshit in return. But Leila Ahmed has been covering this subject for decades and her book is about as in-depth and “fair” as you can get.

Concubines and Courtesans: Women and Slavery in Islamic History*. Hey, wanna hear something fucked up? Many if not most of the notable Muslim women throughout history were sex slaves. Some were used purely for sex, others for entertainment, others as the mothers of their masters’ heirs. A few slaves managed to manipulate or charm their way to political power, and they’re some of the most powerful “Muslim” women in history. This messy topic is explored in a series of essays in this book.

Marriage and Slavery in Early Islam* by Kecia Ali (pdf here). This approaches the same topic as the above from more of a religious perspective rather than a historical survey. It traces the development of religious opinions and justifications for slavery, the “proper” treatment of women, the differences or lack thereof in the ultimate status of a freed woman vs a slave woman, etc.

That is…………. a lot!!! But I do think that all of them taken together are a pretty solid basis for understanding the first…. I dunno, 1000 years or so? of Islamic history. I think most of them are accessible for someone with zero or very little knowledge about any of these subjects, though some are denser than others. I put asterisks on the one that I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to get through, no matter how little you know about the topic.

Also, I know you said no Quran or ahadith but… ur gonna be real-ass confused about many things if you don’t at least know a little about them tbh. If you’re ever in the mood for it, there are a bunch of tafsirs online (Ibn Kathir’s famous one is here) and I have @quranreadalong for this exact purpose so pls enjoy!

Tom’s drowned out every word that’s passed his father’s lips, knowing each one intends to boil his blood, pushing him to the brink.

That’s how it always was with Dom.

There wasn’t a single memory Tom could think of that didn’t include the man yelling at him specifically over something miniscule.

That’s how life always was.

To make matters worse, the twins were present. Sam sat next to Tom, typing away on his tablet like the nerd he always was. Harry was perched on the edge of his desk, eyes sparkling and lips twitching up into a smile.

The twins were Tom’s worst nightmare.

Only 3 years apart in age, they had been his best friends up until he went away for university. He didn’t have the evidence, but Tom knew damn well his father was behind the twins’ sudden attitude change towards their older brother.

They had completely changed from the loving, sweet boys he had grown up with into vile, attention-seeking, power hunger beasts.

For his 21st birthday, Tom celebrated with a grandiose party.

He spent six hours going over and officially signing an agreement with his father that granted him funds for his start-up.

They were merciless. Sam refused to aid Tom in schematics and building appropriations, while Harry outright rejected Tom’s job offer once the company’s foundation had been established.

If they weren’t getting their own start-up, why the hell would they help him with his?

His father did nothing to stop them, either. Dom was reluctant in giving Tom what he had been asking for since he was in high school; Nikki had been the one to hammer the idea over his head, insisting their eldest was more than ready to take on something of his own.

She couldn’t have been more wrong.

“You seem to have lost your sense of responsibility in these last few years, Thomas. I don’t know what the hell has gotten into you, but you need to get a grip. Do you understand?” Tom locked eyes with his father, their silent screaming match never ending.

“Yes, sir.”

“You know it’s going to take more than just your word, boy. Otherwise, I’m sure Harry and Sam will enjoy divvying up your assets.” Dom rose to his feet, holding up a finger as he raised his phone to his ear. “It’s me.”

He left the room, his voice a hushed whisper as he passed. Tom sighed in relief, covering his eyes with his hand when he heard a small chuckle.

“What’s so funny, twat?”

“You. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching Dad rip you a new one, Stanley. What do you think, Sammy?” Harry snickered, smirking as Tom moved his hand, glaring at him.

“Just give up already, mate. These fights are getting redundant, and I’m pretty sure Dad’s dangerously close to going mental,” Sam didn’t even bother looking up from his screen. Tom rolled his eyes, adjusting his tie clip as he nervously tapped his foot.

“If you drive the old man bonkers, maybe he’ll leave us all his money? That sounds like a wonderful retirement plan,” The boys laughed in unison, Harry shaking his head as he looked at his brother.

“Fuck off, shithead,” Tom muttered as he grasped the armrest tightly.

“What’re you gonna do, Thomas? Fuck me up like you did Harrison, yeah?” Harry retorted, rolling his eyes. Next thing he knew, Tom’s hand was around his throat. His grip was tightening, his expression blank as they stared at one another.

“Tom, what the fuck!” Sam shouted, dropping his tablet on the ground as he ran up to them, hitting him right on his side. Tom grunted, letting go as he stumbled backwards. Harry gasped as he collapsed onto the floor, Sam struggling to keep him up.

“Are you… are you out of your fucking mind, Tom?” Harry sputtered, his breathing ragged as he stared at him, perplexed.

“I think Tom’s the mental fuck here, for fuck’s sake,” Sam grumbled, defensively covering Harry as Tom walked past them. He smacked the back of his head, barely slipping out of his reach as he made off towards his liquor cabinet.

“You’re pathetic, mate. Attacking your own brother? That’s a new fucking low,” The twins were on their feet, Sam’s arm wrapped around Harry’s shoulder in a lame attempt to keep him steady. Tom flipped them off as he poured himself a glass of scotch.

The sweet, familiar burn down his throat instantly calmed his nerves, his heart rate magically slowing down as the adrenaline coursing through his veins ceased to exist.

“You two are deplorable. Ganging up on me just to impress him, of all people? Not fucking worth it,” He scoffed, downing the rest of his drink to rid his mouth of the unwelcome bitter taste any thought of his father left behind.

“Isn’t that the story of your miserable life, Tommy?”

Almost three weeks had passed since that night. The night Tom practically kicked you out his penthouse without a second thought. Without any explanation whatsoever.

Your holidays were spent drunk on the couch of your aunt’s upstate cabin, your cousins’ endless love for Christmas drinking games keeping your worrying thoughts at bay.

For the most part.

Not a single word from him since that night. No attempt at any form of communication.

Abiding by the contract, you informed him of your family trip, telling him you would be gone until after the New Year.

No response.

Now that the time to return to work had arrived, your nagging concerns rose to the surface, hitting your heart ten times harder than before.

Right as the door closed, his phone rang.

“What the fuck do you want, Harrison?” His mouth went sour as he spoke his name.

“Well, I’m glad to know you’re finally acknowledging me, mate. I want to talk,”

“So then talk,”

“— in person.” Tom grimaced at the prospect, his jaw clenched tight. Did he really have the self control not to murder his best friend upon seeing him?

Only one way to find out.

“Meet me at Sutton in an hour.”

Tom paced back and forth in the kitchen, Martha ignoring his impatience as she prepped some vegetables for dinner.

“What could he possibly have to say that has you wrecked like this?” She mused, glancing up at Tom as he stared out the window, his hands continuously carding through his hair. He looked over at her, barely missing her irritated gaze.

“I’m more afraid of what I’ll do when I see him. I couldn’t care less what he has to say to me, especially after last time,”

“If you intend on murdering him, at least let me know so I won’t bear witness to it. I’ve seen enough shit go on here, especially with you two,” Martha huffed, running a bowl of diced peppers under water. Tom rolled his eyes, ignoring her comment as he heard the elevator buzzer.

“You’d be my accomplice in his murder either way, dearest Martha. And I won’t eat any of that if you pair it with the red sauce!” Tom retorted, practically running out of the room before she could respond.

“Don’t know when I became his mother, but God, Nikki must’ve had a riot with this one.”

Tom made it into the foyer just as Harrison stepped off the elevator. He took in his best friend’s disheveled appearance - dark bags under his eyes, his hair a curly, frizzy mess. The bruises Tom’s fist had left behind were clearly still healing and he couldn’t help but look down at his own reminder.

“Long time no see, Holland.” Harrison quipped, his expression devoid of any friendliness as he stood by the entrance.

“I won’t hit you again, mate. As long as you promise not to be such a fucking ass,”

“Ah, can’t promise that. My being an ass is actually me being a good friend, so…”

“Fuck off! You’re the worst,” Tom couldn’t stop himself from laughing as he walked up to Harrison, pulling him into a short hug. They both relaxed as they pulled away, a smile dawning on Harrison’s lips as he gently patted Tom’s cheek.

“You’re still a piece of shit, Tom,”

“And you’re still a twat. What’s new?”

They walked to his office, Tom shutting the door as Harrison meandered through the room.

“So, was that the whole talk or?”

“You’re not getting off that easy, Holland. I got wind of what happened with the twins the other day,”

“They’re fucking rats, I swear to God —” Tom scoffed, rolling his eyes. Harrison shrugged, shaking his head as he leaned against the desk.

“Tom, you have got to stop yourself. This is all getting way out of control, mate.” Tom quirked an eyebrow at his words.

“What is? For fuck’s sake, Haz, I didn’t even hit him,”

“But you could have. Could’ve fucked him up like you did me. Only thing that stopped you was Dom, whether you want to admit it or not,”

“Don’t. I’m not talking about that sick fuck right now,”

“Then hear me out, alright? I didn’t just come here to apologize, man. I need to talk some sort of sense into you, for crying out loud.”

Tom sighed exasperatedly, slumping down on the leather couch across from Harrison. He waved his hand around, rolling his eyes as he continued speaking.

“You haven’t talked to Y/N, have you?”

“About what?”

“What happened, you dumbass. And if I’m right, you haven’t asked her back or fucked her since that night, yeah?” Tom bit his lip, averting his gaze. Harrison sighed, shaking his head. “You fucked her at the office today, didn’t you?”

“Did she say something to you, or did you just tell her you wanted to fuck?”

“Well you know damn well I’m not talking to Y/N about shit. She doesn’t need to know anything.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes. He looked up at Harrison, his heart skipping a beat out of fear as he spoke.

“Well, you know your other option. You either talk to Y/N, or you talk to her. You know what she’s gonna tell you.”

The line rang three times, each one sending a shiver down Tom’s spine as he paced around his office. Her voice almost stopped his heart.

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the certified asshole himself.” She chuckled on the other end, and Tom was beyond tempted to end the call then and there.

“Mary,”

“Thomas.”

“How are you?” The words felt foreign on his tongue.

“Are you dying?” Her tone was serious.

“What? No. Why the hell would you think that?”

“You’re being uncharacteristically nice, Thomas. You’re either dying or you’ve fucked up majorly. I prefer the former, because it means I won’t have to put with your narcissistic, playboy self for much longer,” Tom rolled his eyes.

“Well, thanks for caring so much about your dear old friend, Mary. Harrison had me call,”

“Haz? God, you did fuck up, didn’t you?”

“Will you please let me talk?”

“Grow a pair and then we’ll see, Holland. What happened?” She paused, aware she was barely crossing the line as she pushed his buttons.

“I… well, Harrison… fuck. This is harder than I thought it’d be,”

“Are you… trying to talk about your feelings? Thomas Stanley, I’m honored. Well, not really, given the fact you just told me Harrison made you call me. But I’ll let that bit slide. You’ve got a new girl, don’t you?” Tom swallowed thickly at Mary’s words, trying to calm his racing heartbeat.

“Yeah,”

“Oh god, did she find out how fucked up you really are? A damn shame,” She chided, smiling to herself.

“Mary, shut up and let me talk!” She said nothing in response. “She… she heard me and Harrison fighting the other day, and I’ve been ignoring her for the past few weeks. We fucked today, and it was rough.”

“Please tell me you took care of her after, for fuck’s sake.”

“We were at the office, what the fuck was I gonna do?”

“Goddamnit, Tom. Aftercare, you dumbass! It’s important! Or did your repugnant ass forget?”

“I didn’t fucking forget, Mary! I told her I wanted to see her at her place tonight. No sex, just… do something to make up for what happened.”

“Oh.” Her end went dead silent, and Tom felt like his chest was caving in on him. Mary stayed silent for what felt like hours, while Tom’s heart was on the verge of bursting out of his chest. Just as he was about to give up and end the call, she spoke up.

“You don’t know anything about her, do you? So you don’t know how to talk to her alone, when it doesn’t have anything to do with sex.” Tom said nothing as he let out a nervous sigh, his chest heavy against his heart.

“Well, there’s really only one way to get you to open up, isn’t there?”

You had just pulled out a tray of freshly baked muffins from your oven, your music on full blast as you danced around the kitchen. Once you had finished setting the food up on a clean plate, you washed your hands, checking the time. 8:50.

He was going to be there soon.

You washed up in the bathroom, slipping on a flannel and a pair of satin shorts Tom had sent you from France. You headed out into the living room, cleaning up the best you could in the short time you had. You grabbed a muffin from the pile, slouching down onto your couch as you turned on the TV - the only way to distract yourself from counting down until it was time.

Yet, 9pm came and went, without a single word. As the clock struck 10:30, you decided to call it a night. Just as you finished washing your dishes, the doorbell rang.

Hurriedly drying your hands, you walked up to the door, unlocking it without checking who it was. Your hopes were too high to be crushed so soon.

However, you smelled him before you saw him.

As you opened the door, the thick scent of whiskey and scotch hit you, making you reel back at the pungent smell. Tom was leaning against the doorframe, a dopey smile on his face. He met your concerned stare, his eyes glazed over and slightly pink.

“Hello, princess,” His words were slurred, a small hiccup escaping him as he tried to stand up, only to fall to his knees. You gasped when you felt his arms wrap around your legs, his forehead pressed against your lower stomach.

His words may have been muffled as he spoke, but they rang clear as day in your ears.

“We need to talk.”

It’s not, Colleen thinks, that she wishes she had her old, more or less uneventful life back, and not even because in her old, uneventful life she was working for the fucking Hand.

She wouldn’t want it back anyway, not when in this one she’s not working for anyone else, she’s fairly positive she found the love of her life, she has some goddamned stability and she’s happy, and if it means that her boyfriend goes out at night playing vigilante or that he’s the Immortal Iron Fist and that Claire is about the one person out of their circle who is not either superpowered or completely devoid of any sense of self-preservation, well, fine, no meal ever comes free.

That said, she would like some goddamned peace and quiet sometimes, especially when she’s out with Danny for their weekly date.

See, thing is, they talk about things, and they both are aware that the vigilante life fucks you up – they spoke enough with Matt’s friends after they all thought he was dead to know how that worked out for him – and since they didn’t want to go down that path, they have rules. Not many, but they try to enforce them. The two main ones are: Sunday is free unless there’s some kind of imminent danger going down, and once per week they go out for a movie or dinner out and patience if crime runs free for that night, or if Colleen has to say no to late classes at the dojo.

And she really would rather go through her date in peace instead of dealing with a goddamned syndicate of bank robbers, on their fucking anniversary.

Rewind: a week ago, Danny had shown up at breakfast looking kind of bashful and hiding something behind his back.

Colleen hadn’t had time to ask what it was before someone rang at her door.

She had gone to answer just to find herself in front of a delivery man from some very expensive shop near Rand Enterprises who had asked her if she was Ms. Wing, and would she be so kind to sign in order to receive a plant of orchids that almost reaches her waist.

She had, and brought the plant in, and turned towards Danny –

“I figured it’d be useless if it was on the plant, right?” He had asked, and she had opened the envelope.

The card had read happy anniversary.

“I, uh,” he had blurted, “I might’ve thought about actually gifting you the building, but then I figured it’d have meant extra taxes and why would you want that, I guess, and when I told the accountant she said that buying people things like this might look tacky, I wouldn’t know, so I just –”

“Danny?” She had interrupted him. “First of all, it’d be tacky if it was anyone but you, I know you aren’t doing that to show off.”

(Colleen figured out ages ago that when it comes to Danny Rand money is an asset and he’ll buy you things just to make it extra clear he cares about you, and she might have talked the other Defenders out of dissuading him because she had seen his sad face after Jessica told him that she didn’t need a new glass panel for her office’s door after some thief broke it and Danny sent her someone who put a bulletproof one instead. Now they have learned to pretend if anything because Colleen was very convincing, she thinks, and thing is, Danny looked so happy when he told her that Jessica asked him if he could please hire someone to re-paint her walls, she’s really not regretting having just told them to let Danny spend the damned money on them if he so wants to.)

She had opened the box.

And then she had almost broken down in tears at seeing it was a grant for a community project sponsored by the city which gives her funding to offer free training to at least thirty kids for six months.

“And,” he had said, before she could reply anything, “I took the liberty of booking dinner in three days at that nice French restaurant we always pass in front of and we always say we should try out?”

She had blurted something like don’t you ever dare changing, and then they hadn’t talked for the rest of the morning.

So, she had kind of looked forward to the fancy dinner. She had put on her nicest dress, and he had put on one of those suits he hates but for once it didn’t look like he was wanting to shoot himself in the head as long as he was wearing it, and they had been drinking excellent wine as they went through the appetizers, and for once Colleen had been thinking that once in a while, maybe, fancy wasn’t so bad.

That is, until someone blew the door to the bank on the other side of the road and a few armed men had run into the restaurant screaming get down on the floor or we’re shooting you on sight.

Fuck.

“So much for the crime-less date night, huh?” Danny whispers, but she can hear in his voice that he’s itching to kick the table and do away with them.

“I guess it wouldn’t be our lives without fucking random criminals. Wait,” she says, and kicks off her heels. “Right. Whenever you want.”

He grins and before the first thug can forcefully tear a woman’s necklace from her, Danny stands up.

“Hey,” he says, “how about you come at us instead?”

Good thing, Colleen decides, that good French restaurants have sharp knives, in lack of better blades.

It’s almost ridiculously easy – it was just four of them, the majority are in the bank on the other side of the road, and they’ve either punched them into oblivion or disarmed them in a matter of minutes. Too bad that their van is still in the middle of the road and their friends still haven’t noticed that half of their plan hasn’t worked out.

“Well,” Colleen says, “we might as well do away with them, too.”

“Miss –” One of the waiters starts.

“Fine by me,” Danny grins.

“Keep my shoes for me, will you?” She asks the waiter. They really were too uncomfortable for anything other than walking.

They run across the road and put out of commission the guy in the van, but not before he tells him there’s fifteen of them inside.

Well, it’s still plenty doable, she decides as they run inside.

They disarm the ones just outside the vault room, and then –

“Shit,” Danny says, “of course they locked the door.”

It’s obvious he doesn’t want to summon his chi for something that venial. “I guess we’ll have to wait until they’re out,” Colleen says, and then –

“Wasn’t today your fucking anniversary?”

Only Danny could grin that wide hearing Jessica Jones congratulating them like that, Colleen thinks as she turns on her back and sees that both her and Murdock are behind them – right, they’ve been kind of partnering up since it turned out that he wasn’t so dead. Colleen doesn’t know if they’re just friends or if it’s something else, but far from her to pry.

“Yeah,” Danny replies cheerfully, “but we were celebrating across the road.”

“So much for pleading with me to take your turn because you had to take her out, huh?” Jessica is smirking, though.

“Never mind,” Matt says, “you can go back to the restaurant. We’ve got this.”

“Really?” Colleen asks.

Jessica shrugs. “Unless you really wanna stick around, I guess.”

“We’re here, we might as well,” Danny grins. Right, well, he wouldn’t give up a chance to do some teamwork now, would he?

“Fine. Get the hell out of my way,” Jessica says, and then she grabs the handle and brings the entire door with her.

Fine, that is useful, Colleen concedes, and then they barge inside.

It’s pitiful, really – they’ve dispatched all of the robbers in five minutes, in between the four of them. Matt ties them up and they all drag them outside and dump them in the van along with the four from the restaurant.

“Fine,” Jessica says, “I’m just gonna drive this to some police station and leave them there. Happy fucking anniversary.”

Colleen doesn’t know what’s more unsettling – that she seems to mean it, that Murdock’s making heart-shaped eyes at her or that Danny is taking it the way anyone with a regular, sane upbringing would take normal congratulations.

Then they’ve driven off along with van and criminals and she and Danny are standing in the middle of the road, she’s wearing no shoes, his suit is dirty and they burst out laughing the moment they look at each other.

“It was – it was appropriate, though,” Danny wheezes.

“Fine,” she agrees, “it was, but – I was kind of looking forward to the nice dinner for once.”

“And who says it’s busted?”

“Wait, what?”

Danny smirks and heads for the restaurant, asks the waiter if they called the police, the dumbfounded kid says that no, they didn’t because they were about to and then the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen showed up and they realized that maybe it was unnecessary.

“Hm,” Danny says, “how about you call them after me and my girlfriend are done? I’m footing the bill for the damages. Actually, I’m just paying everyone’s bill.”

At that, all of the other clients cheers loudly and agree with delaying calling the police, and that’s how they end up eating duck confit with a crack in the window next to them, dirty clothes, no shoes in her case and random people dropping by and congratulating them, too.

“You know,” Danny tells her, “maybe the whole crime fighting thing didn’t completely ruin it.”

“No,” Colleen agrees, her hand covering his, “I think it really didn’t.”

Okay, maybe it made it great, now that she can think about it rationally.

But next time they’re sticking to places no one in their right mind would think of robbing.

I was sick for like half of this week which probably explains why this list is so long? Unfortunately didn’t write much, bc a lot of what i’m doing is behind the scenes stuff with no visible results rn (working on my shitbang fic, working on a few things that I haven’t finished yet). JJ, having a sexuality crisis, propositions Victor, who, having not found his direction through Yuuri yet, is enough of a mess to accept. (My review: JJ/Viktor? And I enjoyed it? No, seriously, surprisingly good!!)

Let Me Sail Across the Sea for there is Never One Who Loved You More Than Me - tothebatcave53 - @tothebatcave53 - Victor has always loved the ocean, he is drawn to it's beauty and it's power. He sets out, a simple day in a simple boat with a simple desire to just exist in peace out in the ocean. When Victor wakes it is to the turmoil of the waves, desperate to sink him and his tiny boat into it's murky depths. It is only the most beautiful hallucination that keeps Victor sane in what he assumes are his last moments. (My review: AHHHH guys i always need mermaid aus i’m fricken screaming this one is so a+ everyone read it)

For Your Eyes Only - opalish - tumblr unknown (pls tell me if you know?) - Yuuri once told Victor that Phichit was the only foreign skater he considered a friend. Yuuri lied. He's been Seung-gil's dirty little secret for well over a year. (My review: O H MY GOD so that art of seunggil and yuuri being friends is one of my favorites so i’m ??? so glad someone acted on it)

black box (Ch. 1) - SKnight - @sephknight - The entire world is thrown into madness when all the best actors team up for a new TV show about... skating? Doesn't matter, all the fans know is that this means roughly 273.15% more ice cube jokes, the potential resurrection of some dead memes, and 9999% more Victuuri to scream about and die from. The fans have been thirsty for more Katsuki-Nikiforov co-starred content since 2011, and this oncoming show about ice could just be the thing to quench that thirst. ...Oh god, the bad jokes are already starting. (My review: look we all know i have a Thing for fics with fake social media and this one is ALL fake social media so i’m pumped to see more)

third time lucky - katsukiy - @yuriplisetsk - This year, for Tanabata, Viktor decided to wish for something a little different. (My review: not even double but Triple yuuri!!! oh god we all know here that i have a Thing for multiples, but this is so good)

Dinner For Two - Yuripaws - @yuripaws - Viktor dreams of two delicious bowls of katsudon only to find that he isn't invited to dinner. But he is invited to the show. (My review: MORE. DOUBLE. YUURI. guys i’ll never be sick of this trope and this one is so a+ with our desperate viktor mmm yes)

love’s not a competition (but i’m winning) (Ch. 1) - LittleLostStar, spookyfoot - @iwritevictuuri, @katsukiyuuristrophyhusband - Victor Nikiforov is the leader of the best burlesque revue in the city, and well on his way to achieving his dream goal of a Upper-Level Lesser Kardashian-level stardom, complete with his own reality TV show. So when rival burlesque dancer Yuuri Katsuki scoops Victor's theme night and refuses to back down (or fire those hips that will not quit), it doesn't take long before war is declared—a tense and glittery battle featuring anarchic stagehands, orange light gels, fake eyelashes...and some occasional hate-sex that may not be hate-sex at all. (My review: give me more glitter or give me death! you can expect nothing else from spooky and star than just the absolute best and that’s this.)

This...probably isn't what you wanted. (My review: ahh such a cool au!! i love the take on the prompt they had and it was so well written :))

Partner, Let Me Upgrade You (Series - Parts 1-4, Ch. 1-6 (Part 1), Ch. 1-2 (Part 3) - cuttlemefish - @cuttlemefishwrites - Z’s Popstar AU (My review: z, i was going to rec all of these individually but then my rec list would hvae gone on for like 50 years. but asfkl; i finally got around to reading it and i’m dying for my Extra sons)

Baby, I’m Preying on You Tonight (Ch. 8) - cuttlemefish - @cuttlemefishwrites - Yuuri and Phichit registered and named the pet shop when they were drunk. They didn’t exactly expect it to become the most popular pet shop in Seattle. (It was only supposed to be a front to fund Phichit’s (undercover) animal rescue missions.) Enter Viktor Nikiforov, the man with the pink Cadillac and the giant brown poodle (that's stolen Yuuri's heart), and Yuuri might have lost his mind, because apparently he keeps flirting with a client – and he never even notices. (My review: the jjs will never cease to slay me. viktor and chris especially cute in this chapter)

patellofemoral pain syndrome (Ch. 3) - seventhstar - @pencilwalla - It’s just…does Viktor not get bored with doing it the same way every night? Doesn’t he want to spice things up? Is Yuuri being unreasonable? He’s pretty sure that if Viktor told him his performance in bed was unsatisfying his soul would flee his body for a more merciful plane of existence, but…Viktor is thicker-skinned than he is. And so here they are. Viktor’s bed is wide and soft, and Yuuri is lying there with wet hair and ratty boxers while Viktor absently trails kisses over his shoulder. It’s nice. It’s soft. It’s good. Viktor’s headboard is enormous and Yuuri keeps thinking about Viktor’s wrists bound to it, black rope over white skin. Fuck. He should say something. (My review: mmm arthritis porn except nuri didn’t give me porn this chapter)

conjecture - seventhstar - @pencilwalla - The first is that he and his new husband are now alone, and will continue to be alone until they reach Yu-topia. Yuuri has never been gregarious, and finds it difficult to make prolonged conversation with strangers at parties; he dreads having to speak to Viktor for so many hours. If his aunt’s description of him is accurate, the only thing they have in common is a love for money, and that is hardly wedding night conversation. The second is that when Yuuri finally looks at Viktor, rather than looking anywhere but directly at him as he has been, he realizes that Viktor is… (My review: have i mentioned that i love this series? i have, but.... it’s just,,, so good.)

After all, a figure skater’s greatest commodity is often their feet, taking the brunt of the damage required to hone their craft. He knows whatever tender loving care he gives now isn't enough to erase years of self-inflicted abuse, not in a single session. But it doesn't mean he's not going to at least try.So, Viktor starts with the feet. But the thing is, he rarely gets much further than that. (My review: FOOT FETISH i hate feet and this story was still a+)

The Katsulanont Guide to Surviving College (Rice Cooker Required) - xylophones - @xyloophones - It’s Phichit’s fault. It’s always Phichit’s fault. (Or: A friendship told through three hamsters, a rice cooker, and the resurrected trade-and-barter system.) (My review: i think i laughed like 3/4 of this story it’s just,,, so in character for them and ridiculous)

Colored Pencils and Markers - RainyTea - @rainyteawrites - Viktor finds Yuuri’s poster collection, but there’s another surprise in there too. (My review: yuuri’s poster collection with a twist ;) ;) loved it)

It's Katsuki's last season on the ice before his marriage to Victor Nikiforov and Rei would do anything for an autograph before his official retirement... or at least he thought until his boyfriend, Nagisa Hazuki, actually plots to get him an autograph at the NHK Cup. (My review: what you probably sort of know about me is that i love free! so this was a great read and roseus did so well with all of the character and i loved it)

(My review: i hvae read like maybe 1 escort au in this fandom bc i’m always very,,, eh about it but i’ll try anything z does nad it’s??? so good)

Katsuki’s Pet Needs (Ch. 1) - nerdlife4eva - @n3rdlif343va - Yuuri Katsuki owns a small pet store in a little town on the coast. He loves running his own business, and especially loves Sundays when his best friend, Phichit, runs adoption events for his animal rescue organization in his store. Victor Nikiforov has always wanted a dog, excitedly attending the scheduled pet adoption hoping to find his first furever friend. Another universe where these two find each other, this time with a little help from the brown fluff of Makkachin herself. (My review: THIS IS VERY PRECIOUS. if you want shameless fluff, read this!!)

Hunter of Eros (Ch. 4-5) - LalodyBear - @lalody - Lord Eros is perhaps the oldest of all living vampires and a legend among hunters. For thousands of years no-one has been able to slay him and stop his evil reign. Victor Nikiforov is the greatest hunter to have ever lived. ~ After seemingly endless sightings of newborn vampires appearing across Japan, Yakov's hunters are sent to put a stop to it. During a hunt, Victor Nikiforov has his first ever innocent witness to a slaying - Yuuri Katsuki, an utterly adorable local. After being cornered into staying with the group of Russian hunters, Yuuri just prays Victor doesn't find out his secret and slay him in his sleep. (My review: ahh it’s been so long since this updated, and i’m so glad i’m patient because i love this au so much. i don’t even care it took so long like ?? take that long always if you’re gonna give me quality content like that (which i’m sure you will))

Deal with the Devil

I’M BACK! jk, I wasn’t gone very long. But I’ve brought a new mutlichapter fic to my life. Please read and enjoy!

“No.”

Jughead shook his head, cigarette teetering between his lips. He was seated beside Archie, resident boy-next-door turned Serpent. They both stared blankly at the freshman standing before them, still reeling from the bizarre question.

“Why not?” The boy pleads, big brown puppy eyes.

Jughead grunts, leaning back against the bars of the railing. Lighting his cigarette, he takes a long drag before blowing the smoke out in the boys face. “Why should I?”

“I’ll pay you money! Please!” The boy was on his knees now. Archie raised an eyebrow, glancing at Jughead.

“Why would I get involved in dumb jock business because you asked me to?” Jughead leaned forward, hands on his knees. He quirked an eyebrow, waiting.

“Because you’re Serpents! Even the jocks don’t mess with you guys,” The boy cried out, hands coming around Jughead’s ankle. “I just need you to talk to me in the halls. Just to prove I know you guys. So they think twice about messing with me. Please?” He placed a chaste kiss on Jughead’s combat boot, then one on Archie’s sneaker.

Archie smirked, watching. “How much?”

“Huh?”

“How much money you gonna pay us?”

“$100!” He reaches into his pocket, pulling out the bills.

Archie glanced at Jughead, before nodding slightly. “Deal. But it’s only for a second. Don’t talk to us afterward, got it?” Archie grabbed the money, then the collar of the boys shirt, pulling his face close. “Got it?” The boy nodded furiously, eyes frantic. Archie lets go of his collar, taking a step back. After the boy scrambles away, tail between his legs, Jughead lets out a low chuckle.

“Easiest $100 of my life.”

“Sup guys.” Joaquin appeared before them. “What was with the nerd running off?” He jutted his thumb over his shoulder.

Jughead just shrugged, inhaling the last puff of his cigarette and throwing it on the ground. “He wanted to buy our time.” Archie laughed, jumping to sit on top of the railing. Joaquin just smirked, coming to sit on the railing beside Archie. “Hey, so are you gonna ask Kevin to the prom?” Archie nudged his elbow into Joaquin’s side, wiggling his eyebrows.

Joaquin flushes, looking away with a small smile. “I haven’t thought about it. What about you?” He jutted his chin to Archie.

Archie just shrugged, “I don’t know man. Prom’s always so boring. No alcohol.” He pulled out a cigarette, lighting it quickly before sighing.

“I bet.. you’ll ask out Veronica Lodge within the week.” Jughead said, laughing. Archie chuckled, tossing the cigarette butt on the ground. “Less than a week actually!”

“Is there funding for this bet? Cause if so, I’ll fucking do it.” Archie stated, puffing out his chest with a grin. Jughead just laughed.

“$50 says you won’t do it!” Joaquin piped up, raising his hands in the air.

“$75 says he does within 4 days.” Jughead retorted, throwing his hand in the air.

Archie hollered, laughing. “Fucking deal! But on one condition. The bet goes 3 ways.”

Jughead arched a brow, “Explain.”

“I ask Veronica Lodge.” Archie jabbed a finger into his chest. “Joaquin asks Kevin.” He jabs his thumb to Joaquin’s chest, Joaquin flushing but nodded. “And you have to ask someone.” He points at Jughead last.

Jughead nods, “Alright, but who?”

Archie and Joaquin spare a glance, huge grins plastered on their faces.

“Who?” Jughead asks again, exasperated.

“Betty Cooper!” The two boys shout in unison.

Jughead blanks. “Who?” Archie just laughs.

“You know, preppy Betty Cooper. Teachers pet, 4.0gpa. Blonde?” Joaquin intrigues. Jughead just shakes his head, still oblivious.

“The chick you knew when we were kids dude.” Archie finally says.

Recognition sparks in Jugheads face. “No.” Joaquin frowns, glancing at Archie with a raised brow. “There isn’t a humane person on this planet who would ask Betty freaking Cooper to prom.” Jughead states coolly, lighting another cigarette.

Joaquin opens his mouth, but Archie cuts him off. “Sure there is man.” Jughead quirks an eyebrow, waiting. “You.” He claps Jughead on the shoulder.

Jughead shakes his head again. “No. I’m not going to do it.” He heads in a random direction, away from his friends.

Archie jogs to catch up. “$100 says you will do it.”

Jughead stops. Without turning around, he yells back. “$100 even if she says no?”

Archie shakes his head. “$100 and a new guitar if she says yes. But only if!”

Jughead turns around, arms crossed. “I get the guitar whether she says yes or no.” Joaquin chuckles, watching. Archie just sighs.

“Fine, but you have to ask her before I ask Veronica, or the bets off and you get nothing.” Archie stuck his hand out, waiting. Jughead pondered, tapping his foot, before a smile crossed his face.

“Deal!” He shook Archie’s outstretched hand. The bell rang, signaling the start of the school day. Reluctantly, Jughead, Archie and Joaquin strode off, not too quick though, can’t be a prude and show up on time.

The morning went by quickly, Jughead only half paying attention to his teachers talking. School work was overrated, and the teachers learned quick not to bother him about doing any of it. It was a wonder he even showed up most days.

The bell for lunch rang as Jughead stood, heading for the door. Passing by the teachers desk, he overheard the end of a conversation.

“-but sir, please. I need an A to keep my 4.0!” A head of blonde hair, pulled neatly into a very tight ponytail high on her head was turned away from him. The teacher was looking up at the girl, some weird emotion in his eyes.

“Ms. Cooper,” Jughead spared a quick glance over his shoulder before abandoning the room altogether. Halting in his tracks, he leans against the wall, attempting to look nonchalant. A few moments pass before the bouncy ponytail appears from the room. She has her back to him as she heads down the hall, shoulders slumped slightly. He pushes off the wall, casually walking up beside her. She glances sideways, a polite smile on her lips, but recognition sparks in her eyes, and she shies away instantly.

“Uh, hi?” Betty Cooper says, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear timidly.

Jughead smirked, “Hey beauty.” Winking, he moves a little closer, throwing his arm over her shoulder. She quickly retreats from his grasp, putting a healthy distance away.

“Betty.” She says firmly, keeping her eyes forward.

Frowning for a second, Jughead smirks again. “Ok, Betty. I have a question for you.” He reached for her arm, turning her to face him and stopping their walk. She just stares. He clears his throat. “You.” He points to her. “Me.” He juts his thumb at his chest. “Prom?” A smug smirk plays on his lips.

Betty just stares. Then shakes her head. A group is forming around them now, no doubt curious who Jughead is harassing now. “No.” Was all she said, before turning on her heel and retreating down the hall, past onlookers and whisperers.

Jughead smiles sheepishly, shrugging it off and heading in the other direction. Striding down the hall, Archie and Joaquin falling in step behind him, Jughead made his way to the cafeteria.

“Hey Archie! Jughead!” A small voice called from beside them as they walked. Jughead stopped in his tracks, Archie bumping into his shoulder abruptly.

“What the hell man.” Archie spat out, shoving Jughead. Jughead just grunted, looking sideways at the voice.

The young boy from that morning stood a few feet away. He was standing in front of a group of guys, one had his hand bunched on the boys collar, pulling him forward. The hand belonged to Chuck Clayton, quarterback for their shitty football team and resident rapist (or so most of the female student body claims). Jughead turns, eyeing the males in front of him.

“Problem?” Jughead quirked a brow, crossing his arms.

Chuck turned to him – releasing the boys shirt -, Reggie Mantle and Jason Blossom not far behind. They all sneered, puffing out their chests. Jughead chuckled.

“Did I call for the leather losers?” Chuck says, shooting a glance over his shoulder for a reaction from his friends. When they laugh, he turns back to Jughead, Archie and Joaquin, smirking.

Archie takes a step forward, grunting. “Watch it knuckle head, or you’ll be getting a face full of my knuckles.”

Jughead places a hand on Archie’s shoulder, pulling him back. “I didn’t think you were into guys now Chuck.” Reggie takes a step forward, but Chuck pulls his hand up, halting him. “Is it because the entire population of girls in Riverdale would rather fuck a chainsaw over you?”

Chuck growled, eyes dangerously dark. “Watch it Serpent.” He spit out, crossing his arms.

“I’m shaking. Really.” Jughead stated blandly, sighing with boredom. His eyes scanned the crowd once again forming around him. The publicity was toxic, he needed out.

Then his eyes caught ones watching him.

Blue on green.

Betty was standing close to the back of the crowd, hardly visible over the heads of people Jughead didn’t care to learn the names of. A lump formed in his throat.

Why are you getting worked up? She’s just some stupid girl.

Groaning, Jughead steps forward, grasping Chuck’s shirt at the collar. “Listen, pal. This here boy-” he points to the young boy, still reeling from the abuse, who is standing behind Joaquin now. “-he’s a Serpent now. So you touch him, and you deal with us.” Jughead’s eyes burn wild, tightening his grip on Chucks shirt. Chuck inhales deeply, swallowing hard.

“Lets go guys.” Chuck states, pulling free of Jugheads grasp as he growls once more before trotting down the hall, Reggie and Jason in tow.

Jughead sighs, turning back to Archie and Joaquin. Eyeing the crowd, Jughead just shouts “LEAVE!” as the crowd disperses quickly. He catches the telltale ponytail of Betty, bouncing away with the crowd. He idly thought if she saw that whole ordeal.

Why do you CARE? He chalks it up as the want for a new guitar, and some cash from winning the bet.

“Dude,” Archie’s voice pulls Jughead back to reality. “What the fuck?”

Jughead just shrugs, heading back in the direction of the cafeteria.

I have seen just now- please pardon me if I'm late- that some sugar-coated spies from the Empire's branch we call here the Constantinians, who are led by Gemma and Jojo de Guzman, Jun Santos, Babylyn Ventura, Matt Pareja, Dan Orosa, Radel Cortez and Rannie Canlas, who claim purported rights over our most beloved King Eduardo Manalo, had approached you earlier this month. This indeed Empire shall do, as we here in your First Presidency and even King Eduardo had been warning you about for months now (Romans 16, 2 Peter, Jude Thaddeus 1), so that (Galatians 4, 2 Thessalonians 2) they may make you (Galatians 1-2) work for their own and not for Godhead's Good Pleasure to give you (Acts 3) this unshakable Kingdom that is your most humble Commondominion of Christ (Psalm 2, Revelation 2-3). That means that because you deserve only the best as much as you're yokebearers of Godhead, your intelligence (Doctrine and Covenants 93, Ecclesiastes) must not be made inferior to someone's schemes and agendas (1 Corinthians 6,9-10 [Pasugo May-June 1985, page 4]). Here we rather give you ourselves by Godhead (Romans 8, Galatians 4, Ephesians 1, 2 Corinthians 8-9) as Guarantee that we shall never take you nor Godhead in vain just for our own advantage. ' If you're a yokebearer you only belong to Godhead, and if you belong to Godhead then you have to belong to us. I fear indeed that you may be misled by Empire from the supposed purpose of your yokebearing (2 Corinthians 11 [January 26, 2012, October 2, 2015], Psalm 100), that is you siding with us. Such you cannot do with the Empire particularly with those who claim to be 'Iglesia ni Cristo-Church of Christ' (which we refer to here as Constantinians), because they had already deleted most disastrously the biblical notion of siding with Godhead since December 2016. How therefore can you trust them that you can be purportedly of Godhead if you are with them? Just take this for example- you're going to see the name Ellen White later on in this study. She has a husband named James White- the problem is that Empire, on the part of their apostate Protestants, who make up part of their Antiochian department led by Novus Ordo Inquisitional Old Vatican 2 and is also composed of Empire's apostatized branches of Islam and Judaism, as well as atheist elements and oriental pagan occults, also has an official named James White (see April 21, 2017). We have a yokebearer though here named Sir James Whiteside of the American Ballet Theatre, and as you can notice the word 'side' is there, implying the biblical precept that Empire through their 'Iglesia ni Cristo' deleted on December 2016. We also have fellows here named James (Acts 27, Jonah 1, Jeremiah 25-29) named Lady Lily and Sir Theo James, respectively. Sir Theo's name is a variant of the name of our Executive Minister here, Brother Nathaniel or Ka Angel. Lady Lily's name remembers where Prophet Joseph Smith Jr., whom you would meet later in our study, was born- Sharon, Vermont (Song of Solomon 2), the state that carries my original surname (you'll later on know why I have a screenname).

I'm now directly speaking to you, from one yokebearer to another. I hope you may believe more a fellow yokebearer than somebody who does not even know who you really are and what you truly need. We are all looking for the consummation and fullness of truth in everything. Let me reiterate this, that whosoever Empire religion may approach you, we here alone in your Commondominion of Christ, is the fullness of truth in the fullness of times, the consummation of all religion. Therefore the fullness- the true, honest, clean-cut version- of the Iglesia ni Cristo- or what it's supposed to be as it really is- is the religion state I'm now serving you with, your Commondominion of Christ. You indeed have not seen anything just yet! (John 1) We shall all render this (Romans 12) through the sure word of prophecy (Isaiah 8, 2 Peter 1). Empire, including the 'Iglesia ni Cristo', could not claim such because not only have they refused to continual messenger sending by Godhead (like what you could see on our list http://robertlawrencefulg.wixsite.com/commondo…/what-we-give , they also refused to live in accordance to the prophecies they claim. Just days after the Constantinians came to you, o most beloved, we have already pointed out in one of our past posts (you can check it and so many more if you spend your precious free time chiming in to our blog and fan pages) dated March 2, 2018 that Lady Maia Makhateli had just responded to our Ka Angel's call for all yokebearers to receive me as their Facebook friend on or before April 3, 2018. Yea, without knowing what Empire did to you days back (I have said way back then that Constantinians [who also include the church of Nicholas Perez [Revelation 2-3]) staging such instances are either faking prophecy [February 17, 2017] or self-persecuting), someone named like you-Maia- had finally came up to stand with me on Mount Zion. Hours after we began writing this also, news came up that our most beloved Boer brethren from South Africa decided that they shall resettle to where Lady Maia Makhateli came from, so that they may escape the persecutions Empire is hurdling them at South Africa. (So we can wonder why Jun Santos and Jojo de Guzman still want to purportedly 'help' them and that's not to 'love your enemies'- because Jun Santos and Jojo de Guzman are Empire, they rather want to fund the Empire's institutionalized persecution against our Boer brethren, just like when Empire launched the Boer War then against our brethren [you can learn from it from one of our websites reformation.org].) Just like you, the Makhateli family is a household of dedicated yokebearers to Godhead, therefore don't believe the Constantinians when they tell you that the true religion state is 'not a family corporation' (October 22-27, 2015) because if you believe such then Godhead would be a liar that the true church or religion state is no more both the 'Household of Godhead' (January 7, 2017) and the 'Body of Christ' (January 15,21-22, 2017, January 20,27-28, 2018) all at the same time (John 15 [January 13,20-21, 2018], Ezekiel 19-24,16). I don't exactly know when the Constantinians came to you (2 John 1), but I know when I first knew about them coming to you, that is on or around March 14. Because Empire this forthcoming April 7 shall consummate their faking of the '5 Months' foretold in Revelation 9 with their 5-month cancellation of the 'pastoral visitation' of their Constantinian mascot Ed Sheeran here in Manila (which they commenced on November 7, 2017: King Eduardo Manalo preached where you came from- Japan- on that day in 2010, and also on November 6 [12-13], 2016), we shall take our cue from Revelation 9, as much as you can read also from our earlier posts, it was also around the first week of March that these Constantinians, over 2 years ago, had also faked Revelation 8 (March 5-6, 2016).

Constantinians first announced that they got onto you on March 2, 2018. I didn't knew by then that they said such, all I was doing then is writing about Lady Makhateli. If we count 5 months from that we shall reach August 1-2, 2018. August 1- the memorial of Colorado state, where you're almost in all of the time- is memorial of my namesake, Joseph of Arimathea. August 2 is when our King Eduardo Manalo preached in a place in California that I know you had been earlier this year, which is also named after me- San Jose. Not to mention we have also another fellow yokebearer, Sir Joseph Phan, who is born during these days, August 4, to be exact. My name is not exactly Joseph in real life, but my parents named me after somebody named Joseph. I'm just using a screen name because as you know very well, Empire is after my very own life. If we reckon from March 14 we shall reach August 14, when in 2015 King Eduardo, who we call here as King Edward IX (but because the present Eduardo Manalo that Empire claims is just a doppelganger of the original one, who was martyred by Empire between September and November 2009 just after Empire also martyred his father, our Brother Erano Manalo or 'Ka Erdy' on August 31, 2009, we could rather call the martyred Edward as Edward IX while the doppelganger Edward may be called as Edward X from now on) preached wright on my current city, where I'm residing since May 22, 2012. When Edward X preached here on August 14, 2015, he consecrated the 2nd on his succession line, David, who is also the name of the brother of Lady Makhateli. Back to March 14, it was both on 2014 when Edward X preached where one of our fellow Messengers here come from who invokes Joseph Smith Jr. (here he is: facebook.com/rene.torlao) and in 2015 when Edward X preached on the state where Joseph Smith Jr. was called by Godhead in 1820 and received the golden plates in 1823. When we talk about the name 'David', back to August 14 we shall get the following: 1. David Patten, the 'first martyr of the restored church' under Joseph Smith, slain by Empire on October 30, 1838. The next day, October 31, is the birth anniversary of King Eduardo Manalo (Nehemiah 9:1 New Living Translation [see April 21, 2017]). Let's first take the digits 38. Ka Erdy became Commondominion Executive Minister on April 23, 1963 at the age of 38, our Joseph Smith Jr. was slain by Empire 'inflamed by reports of sexual predation' according to the Empire's Salt Lake City Tribune newspaper at 38 years old (so we can say how Empire's feminist agenda is indeed very, very, very lethal as you can see later on in this Epistle as you read on), Christ Healed the Empire man at John 5 aged 38, and our Ahn Sahng Hong, a Commondominion messenger that Empire also claims to be purportedly theirs when in fact it is not (thankfully though we still have his original congregation as one of our branch churches [http://robertlawrencefulg.wixsite.com/commondo…/where-we-are]), also refulfilled the 38 years in his ministry. If we take the digits 18 out of 1838 we shall get around August 14 the date of August 18 (our Sir William and Lady Aljona Savchenko-Cross wed in 2016) when Lady Lindsey Stirling, our female Leader here, first visited Manila, as per Empire's claims of Joseph Smith Jr. Edward X preached on Connecticut on August 18, 2013, a state whose memorial is January 2, the birth anniversary of Ka Erdy. He also preached on August 18, 2012 where both our Sir Edward Elliot refulfills the 1st Bowl of Johannine Apocalypse in 1789 and our branch churches, who invokes respective Commondominion Messengers William Miller-Ellen White, and Charles Taze Russell, also refulfills Revelation 11-12. we're so shocked though to discover only now as we're doing this Epistle that the most blessed father of one of our fellow yokebearers, Lady Rachel Wexelberg, named Sir Roger (just last March 15 we commemorated the Nate-al day of one of our fellow Messengers here: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011180587153), was born on October 30. Empire also hacks and claims the legacies of Miller-White and Russell- those who are sitting in Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, Maryland led by Ted Wilson (Psalm 50, 2 Thessalonians 2) are in charge of corrupting the Miller-White legacy, while Warwick, New York, who goes under the name 'Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York and Pennsylvania' hosts those who corrupt the legacy of Russell. Those who corrupt Ahn Sahng Hong (who goes by the name 'World Mission Society Church of God'), Miller-White, Russell, and Smith (a Brighamite painter named David Lindsley, whose surname indeed resembles 'Lindsey' so much [as per Empire's prophetic claims Antiochians have 'Hal Lindsey', implying not only Lady Stirling but also Lady Hailee Steinfeld-Smoller, one of our other fellows here {Revelation 7} but as per Empire's agenda they have a sodomist named 'Halsey'] made a Joseph Smith portrait that Empire uses more than often), together with the incumbents sitting in the 'Reorganized Community of Christ' as well as Eli Soriano of Brazil and Daniel Razon of Pampanga (who goes by the name 'Ang Dating Daan Members Church of God International'), make up the Empire branch we here call the Neronians. 2. If we go back to August 1-2 before such date is July 30, when one of our fellow Messengers here, Richard David Armstrong, became the 'first martyr of the endtime work'. His family became the architect of many branch churches here in your Commondominion (Matthew 3,11,17, Mosiah 11,17). We here also have a fellow, who is related to Lady Lily James, named Sir Richard Madden (Zechariah 12, Isaiah 62). Empire also succeeded to overthrow Armstrong's original congregation and turn it into 'Grace Communion International' under the Antiochian banner. Lady Lily and Sir Madden were related to each other due to one of our fellows here also, Sir Kenneth Branagh, who once wrote a hymn carrying the name of Sir Armstrong. We can see Psalm 98 carrying Sir Armstrong's name: 'Godhead's Strong and Hailleey Arm had been laid bare in the Sykes of everybody else…Godhead Comes to Judge the Earth.' (Isaiah 52) Empire faked Psalm 98 on the realm of our very own King over all British territories, the former Nathan James Sykes now His Majesty the King James VII, on July 27, 2012, 98 years from July 27, 2014. that was a foretelling not only of King James VII's ministry, but also of the successor-son of Ka Angel, named your Ka Ellix: we have another yokebearing family here named Reynolds, and they are siblings just like you, respectively named Lady Elicia and Sir Stephen. It was the first martyr of the first-century Commondominion, Stephen the Deacon, who said 'Godhead Comes to Judge the Earth' (Matthew 26 [May 20,27-28, 2017], Acts 7). The Name of Godhead in Hebrew is Similar to the actual name of Lady Elicia, that is the namesake of Ka Ellix. In the same way, another yokebearing pair, Lady Juliette Erickson and Sir Nathan Grundhofer, actually resembles my actual and Ka Angel's respective names. The name Adam in turn implies not only the first name of our fellows here named Sir Young (Doctrine and Covenants 136), Lopapa (Revelation 11 Leon Van De Wert) and Wiles (Doctrine and Covenants 135) but also the preaching of our branch churches that Adam is both (Revelation 10,18,20) at Godhead's Office and at the head of angels at the same time (Doctrine and Covenants 107). The female rendering of the name Samuel is Samantha, and as for us we have some yokebearers here named as such, one of them is actually surnamed Cesario, remembering how Christ Pronounced the formal organizing of His Commondominion at Caesarea Philippi (Matthew 16 [January 7, 2017, October 10, 2015]), and as per 'Philippi', another yokebearer here, a Filipina, is named Lady Samantha Cantoria. Constantinians have an official surnamed 'Cantor', that they first-named after our September 21, 1972 declaration of Martial Law against the Empire. (There are now 46 years from 1972 to 2018 [John 2], and it was on September 1972 that the first Eduardo Manalo began writing for our former newsletter now under the Constantinians [see Pasugo October 2009].) September 21 is the birth anniversary of our female Leader Lady Lindsey Stirling. Lady Cesario came from Boston, Massachusetts, the homestate of Joseph Smith's paternal ancestry which dates back to 1638 (Revelation 6). April 19 is a day of holy obligation for the Empire churches situated in Massachusetts, a day before it, the birthday of King James VII, the second Eduardo Manalo preached in 2015 at the previous state where Lady Samantha Cantoria previously came from, the homestate of Sir Grundhofer, whose surname implies February 2, the birth anniversary of the mother of Ka Angel and the first Eduardo Manalo, Sister Cristina Villanueva Manalo, who is our Spiritual Leader here (Hebrews 13, Ephesians 6, Proverbs 31,1-4,8-9, 1 Samuel 1,12,25). Empire had once foretold that a 'light of knowledge shall come out from Boston', and we can see that this points unto me, yours truly, your God's Tiny Dancer, a Filipino (Isaiah 46, Luke 17, Jeremiah 16, Joseph Smith Matthew 1) who has the faith of the two Eduardo Manalos (Ezekiel 37, Ephesians 2) called to preserve and keep the name of Joseph Smith Jr. (Genesis 9,14, Hebrews).

Now what if 'Iglesia ni Cristo' claims that their claimed civil registration on July 27, 1914 is still prophetic so we here could not do anything against it but to submit to them? Remember that it was not them who registered the Church and thus refulfilled prophecy, they only infiltrated us (I came from the Constantinians before I was Called by Godhead here) way back since late November 1970, when they summoned some of Ka Erdy's trusted fellows to receive the Empire's supreme head, that is the Pope of Novus Ordo Inquisitional Old Vatican 2. You (1 Thessalonians 2) know very well that here we preach 'Check and Balance'. According to our branch churches, such as those who invoke Miller-White and Armstrong, civil registration with the government is somehow a work of the devil because that makes you entangled (2 Timothy 2 [December 10, 2017]) with the Empire's political powers (Revelation 13,17). Many of our other branch churches though still opts to register their congregation with the government, but we must understand that it is only in them that prophecy upon civil registration is absolutely made good, true and full (Titus 1 [January 20,27-28, 2018], Matthew 19) because they live in accordance to what Godhead Expects of those who invoke the sure word of prophecy. If you don't do it, therefore you would be entangled with Empire's political powers and they shall begin infiltrating you and corrupting your doctrines and good intentions on civil registration to refulfill prophecy. They can only corrupt you if you accede to it, but if you don't they would be to the last up against you to track you down and slay you. This is why some of our branch churches refused civil registration. This is also our principled take of 'render to Caesar what is due to Caesar…' Our branch churches are proven to be indeed correct on this, because Empire churches rather tend to impose the Beast Mark of Revelation 13,17 in another way, that is, sealing their insignias with copyright at the civil government. Therefore, with what the Empire, through their Neronians, specifically those who are nestled at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, are doing against your Godhead's Little Flock (Psalm 89), can they still claim therefore (John 8) that they alone are the true spiritual heirs of Joseph Smith Jr.? A Whole Bunch of Amazing Fixer-Uppers North of New York City

It’s almost embarrassing to admit how much time I spend looking at fixer-uppers for sale. Ethan (my husband) and I do nothing but dream about landing a big, old farmhouse rife with peeling wallpaper and sited on a hill somewhere up the Hudson River, where we’d live out the rest of our days surrounded by multiple sets of pocket doors and ornate plasterwork from a bygone era. Christina was the PERFECT person to help me with this, considering she’s got an eye for lovely, old things.
