#if you're going to sell yourself as a musical i'm going to judge you as a musical.

this is relatively minor hazbin hotel criticism, among the various i've heard - but being 100% honest, the main reason i've stayed away from it is just that the music is bad.
it's so bad. every lyric sounds like a first draft.

I'm so so sorry to break this to you. You're not a punk. Mcr and top and Chr*stianity are not punk. Please...please stop.
Oh, I've been waiting for this...
*cracks knuckles*
First off, what authority do you have to decide what is punk and isn't? By definition a punk is someone who listens to punk music, believes in not selling out and supporting individuality. It's a social movement, not a faith based one.
Punk can go right in line with any religion and many different beliefs. If you're trying to tell people they can't be punk based off of their religion you seem to be pretty intolerant of my lifestyle. That sure as hell ain't punk, just like cussing a homosexual for their personal lifestyle choices ain't punk. Being yourself is punk. Love is punk, and Jesus is love. You can't argue with that. Jesus sat with and loved on the broken nobodies of our society and spit on the organized religions of His time. What's more punk than that?!
And as far as music, yes I love TOP and MCR! I'm also obsessed with the Front Bottoms and love me some good Showbread every now and then. If you took a few minutes to check my bio and Google those bands, you'd see one is hardcore punk and one is folk punk. You seem to not know your shit my man, especially to be going around policing other people minding their own business. I'm new to the punk scene and still learning the music and whatnot. If you were a true punk veteran, you'd be hyping up my learning process and giving me band recommendations instead of trying to police strangers on the Internet.
And all that being said, you don't know me! How can you judge someone you don't know? Blows my mind. Going around calling people posers, judging people and not respecting others is the least punk you can be. You wanna call people out to feel better about your own shortcomings? Go punch some "punk" Nazis and be useful at least.
Being bold is punk. You weren't even bold enough to leave your own username up, anon. Ha.

If I'm There: Chapter Seven
Tumblr media
read from part one
Noah X OFC Natalie
Noah and Natalie meet in high school and developed a relationship through their love of music and art. Falling in love, innocent and young, they think nothing can keep them apart. However, sometimes in the pursuit of your dreams the things we love the most get left behind.
warnings: depreciations of sex, cringe fluff
hope y'all enjoy! its a long one!
★☆⭐︎★☆⭐︎★☆⭐︎★☆⭐︎★
The next day we wake up early before my Mom gets home from work to go hang out at Noah’s house. On our way we stop at a coffee drive through to grab drinks, I get a vanilla iced coffee and he gets a chocolate frappe. “Isnt that just a milkshake?” I tease him. “It technically has coffee, plus its delicious, also…..dont judge.” He mock’s offense.
I laugh and we get the drinks, continuing our way into his neighborhood, its a sunny day so I just threw on a simple sundress and my sandals this morning before leaving my house. I had to reluctantly give Noah his shirt back, “I promise I will give you a stack of shirts once we get to my house, deal?” I take the deal as I fully intended to nab a few to add into my wardrobe.
We get to Noah’s house and he rushes me excitedly into his room and I laugh at his enthusiasm “what’s got you acting all giddy ? It’s all that sugar from your milkshake huh?” We turn to enter his room and he turns on the lights, he always uses the lamps, never the overhead light, preferring the warm light the lamps create. He laughs at my milkshake comment and replies, “nooooo, it’s not that. I’ve been working on this song and I forgot to bring my guitar yesterday, I’ve been wanting to show it to you so-“ he takes my shoulders and angles me to sit on his bed “sit here and enjoy” he winks and sits in his desk chair and picks up his guitar.
He shakes the nervousness out of his hands and begins to strum a soft melody “it’s not finished, but it’s something I’ve been working on. I wrote it thinking of you” he explains sweetly.
There are scars that'll never ever show themselves
You get when you're left alone too long in Hell
They tried to keep in the secrets that you wouldn't tell
But they just stripped you for parts you had to sell
My breath catches as he continues.
Well, if I'm there to catch you when you fall
You'll have a friend down in Hell after all
And if you're there to catch me when I fall
Then maybe Hell ain't so bad after all
He continues strumming and looks up to see tear’s gathering at my lashes, putting the guitar down he comes to kneel in front of me. Raising his hand to gently wipe the tears that fall he says “I didn’t mean to make you cry Nat, I sorry- I didn’t think-“ I stop him from rambling with a kiss “that was beautiful Noah, I don’t- you thought of me when you wrote this?” My breathy voice gives away my surprise.
“Yes” he responds back resting his head against mine holding me closely by the with a gentle grasp against my neck. “You’re always on my mind and” he pauses and takes a deep breath “Natalie, I’m in love with you, since I saw you sitting all yourself in study hall, the beautiful lonely girl, the smartest girl I know, the most talented” he kisses me “my Natalie.”
I’m frozen for a moment before I throw my arms around him in a bone crushing hug “oh Noah” I cry “I love you too.”
He wheezes out a short breathe “how are you so strong?” I loosen my grip and laugh “oops, sorry” i shrug sheepishly “have I never told you I was in karate until last year?” He laughs “that explains how you flip me over so easily last night.” At the mention of last night I blush remembering the details of our first intimate night together, Noah noticing my blush stands to sit next to me on the bed “are you okay with what happened? last night I mean?” He quietly questions. I turn to look at him and lean my head on his shoulder “Noah, last night was perfect. The way you treated me? You’re the exact reason I waited to do that with someone I knew I could trust.” My words reassure his concerns and we continue to sit leaning against each other in comforting silence for a few more minutes before I break the stillness. “I think I’m going to apply for a job at the coffee shop” I say. “I’ll need to start saving money for after graduation, that’s if I get into any of the school I applied to.” He lightly knocks into me with his body “like you’d get denied anywhere, those school would be insane to reject you.” He wraps his arm around me and squeezes me tightly for emphasis. I smile at him and laugh lightly “that’s sweet of you to say, but art schools are competitive, I sent my best work and I’ll brag on myself that it’s good but so are of a lot of other kids”
“I’m sure it will all work out Natty, just trust and I’ll always be here for you so when I’m a big famous rock star you’ll be taken care of forever.” I can’t help but laugh. “Oh yes” I mock fan myself “ my dream of being a professional groupie, don’t worry big shot, when you’re big and famous you’ll always have me to bring you back down to earth.” He smiles and kisses my lips lightly “bet on that. If I can even make it big.” I laugh, “Of course you will Noah, and I’ll be right there, number one groupie.”
Noah leans over his kisses me deeply as we fall backwards onto his bed. Previous conversation forgotten the kiss heats up and clothes begin to shed again. A few minutes later we are both panting as Noah pumps hard thrusts in and out of my throbbing core. “Oh shit” he pants “I can’t- I won’t- nghun” he stills and his face contorts into pure bliss as his hips snap against mine and still. “Fuck, I’m sorry I didn’t think I would be that quick…you’re just so tight-“ he pants breathlessly “it feels too good” /pant/ “so really it’s your fault” he jokes lightly “but don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you.” Before I can respond Noah is sliding down my body and then without warning he is attacking my clit relentlessly, sucking and licking at it until I’m writhing and grasping at his soft blue comforter that’s covering his bed. “Noah, fuck” I rasp out and he then adds two fingers pumping my already oversensitive cunt and I sobbed out the shockwaves of my orgasm. “Oh my god” my voice comes out like a choked whisper. “Not a god, just Noah is fine.” I light heartedly push at his head where it rests against my thigh. Running my fingers through his hair I sign contently he looks up from where his head is resting and says in a sweet soft voice “I love you so much, you’re everything to me.”
We clean ourselves up and get our clothes back on a couple minutes later, not before taking Noah’s shirt and slipping it into my bag “I believe they call this the girlfriend tax? I’m here to collect.” He laughs and tosses me two more shirts to put away with the other “here take these as well.”
We hang out at Noah’s for a few hours and then he takes me to the coffee shop so I can turn in my application. The manager is behind the counter and after looking at my application asks if i can come in to interview tomorrow. “Um, yes that’s perfect!” Excited and nervous about the interview we shop around and Noah leaves with a new CD, he plays it on our way to Nick's house, they’re practicing for a gig they have this coming weekend. Noah says he’s going all in on this band he’s starting. They’re looking for the rest of the members but they’re taking any gig they can this summer and really committing to making this work.
Natalie: I’m really nervous about this interview tomorrow. 10:50
Noah: You have nothing to be nervous about baby, youre gonna absolutely kill it. 10:52
Natalie: ugh, its just this could be really helpful for saving money and i’d rather die than work the vacation bible school again. 10:54
Noah: what? You dont want to be around the sugar fueled youth? They are our future you know. 10:57
Natalie: lol, you always make me laugh XD thnx for that. 11:00
Noah: but srsly, youre going to be great tomorrow. I’ll pick you up after your interview and we can hang after if you want? 11:02
Natalie: thank you :) hmm do i want to hang out with my hot boyfriend? Obvi. 11:02
Noah: sweet ;) 11:02
Natalie: I’m gonna head to bed! Goodnight Noah! Love youuu! <3 11:03
Noah: Love U 2! 11:04
Noah was right, I totally aced my interviewI start working at the coffee shop making decent money, especially in tips. I make some friends at the shop, Ashley, Hunter and Maggie. Maggie is a senior at my school and Hunter and Ashley graduated last year. They’re all really nice and come with me to some of Noah and Nick's Shows. They end up playing all the time, almost every weekend I’m helping them load their equipment in and out of bars and clubs. It’s a lot of fun actually.
On one of the hottest days after a long afternoon of Nick and Noah practicing in the garage the three of us decide to drive to the river for a swim. We drop by my house first so I can run up and change, I pick out a black and green bikini that I bought with Maggie last week, we’ve been hanging out too and we actually get along really well. I pack a bag with a change of clothes and grab three beach towels and a bag of chips for a snack.
The river is refreshing after being in Nick's garage. I’m standing in the water up to my knees, easing my way in the cool water. Noah is already dripping wet and comes to stand next to me, leaning over to say “you know it’s a lot easier if you just get all the way in and get it over with” he flicks some of the water off his fingers at me. “Hey! I’m just trying to get use to it, it’s colder than I thought.” Next thing I know I feel Noah’s cold arms coming up from behind me in a tight hole, lifting me off the ground “come on Natty, we’ll do it together!”
He laughs as I squirm and halfheartedly protest “OH MY GOD NOAH! You big oaf put me down!” I squawk reaching down to smack his butt. “Okay, if you insist” I hear him say before we’re both falling towards the deeper water and I can barely manage to get out a loud “NOAH!” before we’re submerged. I break the surface of the water and see him looking at me with a huge smile “much better Natty” he whispers swimming closer and I wrap my legs around his waist “you’ll pay for that on later mister.” He leans forward and kisses me, tickling my face with the hair that’s fallen into his face. “Oh and how will you punish me, my love?”
I hear Nick heave an exaggerated gag before he yells “get a fucking room!” We all laugh and I look at Noah tapping my finger against my chin I think. “Hmm what is an appropriate punishment for such a crime?” And and idea pops into my head, “okay, I think you should jump off the rope swing” I say with a devious smile “easy” he responds quickly. “Naked” I finish and Noah’s eyes bulge and Nick busts out in a deep laugh. “Oh you are cruel, but I will accept, it fits the crime.” With one last kiss he swims to the shore, drops his trunks and holds himself with his hand to preserve whatever is left of his modesty and climbs the tree to the rope swing. With one hand, it’s not easy but he manages, taking the rope in hand he pushes off and falls into the water, hands flailing and package on full display. Nick and I sound twin wolf whistles as he pops his head out of the water. Later with his pants back on, the three of us dry out on a grassy hill before packing up and heading back out. Noah drops me off first and we share a longer than necessary goodbye kiss at my front door. “Bye” he says against my lips “love you.” I smile and look up at him “love you too,” I reply and he heads back to his car.
This has been quite literally the best summer ever and with school starting next week I start getting all of my stuff ready for my final year, senior year is here at last. I’m working on a new drawing when I hear shuffling coming from Kyle's room, but that’s weird because Kyle is supposed to be with our dad. I walk out of my room and across the hall to where his room is, the door is open, so I step into it and see a familiar face unpacking a large leather duffel.
“Hey Sis” Kyle turns to greet me with a smile that reminds me of his younger self.

joking with bf about tumblr and realized I don't understand what people get out of social media anymore - like at all.
My first real "social media" was myspace. It was short-lived. But I liked that (back then) you had your own page, you filled it out with your information, you had your music and banners etc. Not so many images back then, but the point was your page was yours. Customizing your own space was fun.
Then I moved on to livejournal which was even more self-involved. You had your journal that was just yours. You could put anything in it, anything you wanted, and it wouldn't go away unless you chose to delete it. But other people could look at it and interact with you in the comments. And you could join communities where you'd meet other people with similar interests, which would then lead them to visit your journal and you to visit them.
When lj tanked I moved to tumblr, where once again, I have my own space, I can talk about whatever I want, people can choose to interact with me if they feel like it, plus there are visuals and video and a feed which delivers new posts from people I follow. It's easier than ever to just explore, meet people with similar interests, and make connections, while cultivating my own journal/scrapbook that is a record of myself over the years.
It seems to me that self-involved element just isn't interesting to many people anymore. Even though Instagram and Tiktok are definitely very invested in the self! I guess the argument is probably that no one reads text posts anyway, the best way is to post video or images and at most have a short quick to read blurb attached at the bottom. But the attraction of text posts, for me, was never the idea that other people were going to read them. It was simply self-expression. The enjoyment of talking about what's going on with me and working through it. It's nice to get comments, but sometimes the comments, well, make you feel worse, especially on a personal post.
On fandom posts I hoped for notes, but in general I liked to stew in anonymity. I thought about having separate blogs for fandom posts and personal ones. But you know why I didn't? Because I like going to someone's blog and seeing more there than just their art or fanfiction. I like knowing a thing or two about their lives. Not so I can judge them. Because it makes them feel real, relatable, like a friend. Someone I'm not meant to worship for their skill, but appreciate and support, by my own choice, as part of a community. When there's no info at all and it's just a fandom blog, it feels commercial to me. I'm always relieved when a fandom blog links to their personal blog, although I also find that much more jarring than if everything's just in one place and searchable by tags.
These days everyone tells me to be on Discord, Tiktok, or Instagram. But in none of those places can I develop my own personal space the way I like to. I can't even find groups with similar interests on them. Maybe some exist, but if they do they're nowhere near as easy to find as they used to be. When I was in my twenties I could always find people to chill with, no matter how tiny the fandom was. Now the point is to have a sleek, clean, specific persona so people know immediately what you're selling (even when no actual money is involved). You're selling art, you're selling fanfiction, you're selling meta, you're selling activism, you're selling witticisms. That's all great. And what we've all known, even since the days of myspace, is that what doesn't sell is personal posts. Talk about yourself = followers walk away. There's nothing for them here. Multi-fandom blog? Yeah but I only like one fandom you do, so clearly we have nothing in common and shouldn't interact. Lol. Honestly there are so many people here on tumblr I'd like to interact with, except when I visit their blogs they seem like they wouldn't want to interact with me. I'm only a little bit cottagecore, not 100% cottagecore. I sometimes post about books, but sometimes about anime. So the book-lovers who stick up their nose at anime don't want to hang out with me, and the anime-lovers who don't get classical literature maybe think I'm gonna be a snob toward them. Because they know "too much" about me. If they knew less, if they knew only what they'd feel comfortable knowing, because my blog is anime-only or something, then maybe we'd be friends. Not that I'd call that friendship :) but you know, in that shallow, hyper-specific social media sense of the word.
That's my theory. I never was popular on any social media site - personal blogs rarely are! Never wanted to be either (I've been here since I was in college and uhhh absolutely do not judge me please by anything I wrote when I was stupid nineteen). And it may be that very personal feature of tumblr which makes it less attractive to people than places where the point is to be a persona, instead of a person. Persona attracts, person not so much.
I just feel sad that this type of social media seems to be disappearing when I have no appreciation for the type that's replaced it. Believe it or not, I want to see y'all's novel-length text posts. Even when I don't read them, I still want to see them. I like having my little group that I follow and the only people I unfollow are blogs which self-promote more than I have a taste for. Small spaces are so underrated and I guess that's only to be expected.

Tumblr media
Mischief glitters in your eyes as you respond.
"No one told me how...charming the captain of the quidditch team was" you smile
You heard Draco peep a laugh, but it's drowned out by the music in the background. Thankfully, you send him a glare which he catches and returns an eye roll. Of course, you knew about the misogynistic history of Marcus Flint. But who are you to judge before getting to know him?
"Why don't we go grab a drink?" Marcus asks offering you his hand
"I'd love too" you return
Over at the makeshift bar you ask for a nice hardy cup of fireball. As you were drowning your weight in fireball a soft voice reached you.
"Would you like some herds? You look like you could use some the first batch is on me"
You turn and see Luna Lovegood sitting at a table selling "herbs" and good old fashion muggle weed. Sitting next to her unexpectedly is Neville Longbottom.
"Not tonight" you smile
"Oh, you're Harry's twin aren't you?"
"Harry's sister?" Neville turns
"Yup and your Luna and Neville, right?"
"Yes, we are" they both answer
"Ah so you're responsible for getting my brother so high that one time, he threw up so much he slept with a bucket in his arms."
You laugh and exchange pleasantries until a firm hand finds its way to your waist. You turn to see Marcus.
"There you are lost you for a second"
"Well, here I am"
"Actually if you don't mind do you have a pack of cigarettes by any chance?"
Luna smiles "Your in luck I always have a small stock for the boys and this is my last one"
"Thank you" you reach in the band of your bra for a bill but she stops you
"Please to make up for your brother"
You laugh "Fine but I'm paying next time" you affirm
You and Marcus make your way over to the couch and sit together. He talks about himself for what seems like a little too long. He then asks about you and Ilvermonry to which you then talk about yourself a little. As you guys talk, he finds ways to be closer to you, eventually putting his arm around your shoulder.
In the distance you see Draco standing at the beer pong table watching Pans and Blake play against Blaise and Enzo. You don't notice but his jaw tightens at the sight of Marcus with his arm around you. He doesn't even notice himself tensing up, his grip around his cup tighter. He doesn't like seeing you guys together but he doesn't know why. As you talk to Marcus about Ilvermorny he asks if you guys had quidditch to which you answer.
"I've actually been playing since first year"
"Oh really"
"Ya got on the team first year guess I'm kinda an ace they actually nicknamed me the Horned Viper"
"Damn I mean looks, brains, and quidditch you’re the whole package aren't you"
"I would like to think"
The evening continues with you and Marcus squeezed into the love seat couch deep in conversation.
As it hits 1 am people start leaving
Draco and the group walks over
“Hey Y/N/N we gonna head home if you wanna come”
Marcus stands up and helps you to your feet
“I'll walk you were in the same house anyways”
You smile “Here I thought chivalry was dead”
He gives you his arm and you take it head for the door with the rest of the group behind you. Enzo is holding a buzzed Blake hand on her waist in an effort to stead her. Draco and Blaise are walking with Pans in the middle, her arms around their shoulders. You and Marcus walk a few paces in front of the group. You're a bit more than buzzed but you try to walk on your own suddenly you stumble a little but Marcus catches you. He bridal carries you up the stairs into the shared dorm of Blake, Pans, and sets you down on the bed. Your eyes feel heavy and the last thing you hear before drifting off to sleep is “goodnight vip”.
The next morning you wake up groggy and in last night's clothes you get up and go to the bathroom. After a refreshing shower and some meds for the monster headache you see Pansy and Blake.
“Ugh what happened last night my head's killing me” Pansy says holding her head in her hands
“No literally it's a miracle we got home “ Blake agrees
“Well then you should thank the boys they were with you guys all night”
You guys get dressed and head to the great hall for breakfast. You walk in and spot the boys already at the table. As you guys sit down Blaise starts “good morning sleeping beauties how was your beauty sleep?”
“Killer” Pansy responds
“It's like I got hit by a train. How are you guys okay?” Blake cries out
Enzo responds “We didn't drink like animals that's how”
Draco looks at you and pushes a piece of buttered toast in front of you.
“Eat it'll make you feel better”
You mustier up a smile
“Thanks”
As you dig into the toast you feel someone come up behind you.
“Good morning vip, how'd you sleep?”
“Like a baby”
“Good I'm glad you were knockout cool when I got you home”
“Ya thanks for that by the way”
“No worries anytime” He winks
He puts a cup down on the table
“What is that?”
“Hair of the dog something muggles use for hangovers”
Draco contests “No she does not need more alcohol in her system right now she needs to soak it up”
Marcus turns to look at him “Relax Malfoy she'll be fine”
You stare at the cup “I don't know my hangovers almost passed”
You push the cup away “I'll just ride this one out”
Marcus eyes flash with what seems to be disappointment before it's replaced with his signature smile.
“No worries just trying to help”
“By the way vip you wanna play some quidditch later?”
You give him a smile “Ya definitely I'll be there”
“Great I'll see you later” He says before turning around and leaving”
Enzos is jaw dropped
Blaise is stunned but manages to say “I’ll be damned, how did you get Marcus Flint to eat out of your hand?”
Which Enzos adds on “Damn girl you work fast”
You just smile and say “A lady never tells” before breaking down in laughter with Enzo.

1, 4-6, 8-10, 12-14, 16, 18-25, 29, 30! (Sorry, I ask a lot! 😂)
Lmao no worries! Imma try my best to answer these
1. What song makes you feel better?
Love Live songs, mostly from Muse, like half of Aqours and some of Liella (not so much Nijigasaki)
4. What flower would you like to be given?
Portable hayfever machines? No thanks!
I'm kidding, I love flowers, they're beautiful but I'm more of a cactus/succulent kind of person!
5. Who do you feel most you around?
Hm, well I think that would have to be my brother? He doesn't judge or look at me weird if I'm screeching Love Live songs around the house, if I decide to randomly wear a costume in the day he doesn't judge like my sister. I think my brother was the first person I actually came out to as well.
That's for irl anyway, otherwise the internet I feel very much like myself lol, the server's I'm a part of, my online friends are super nice and supportive! ^-^
6. Say three nice things about yourself. (Three physical and three non physical)
Aaa it's like primary school all over again hahaha.
- It took a long time but now I like being as short as I am (so height)
- My hair, I dyed it blonde again but it used to be a browny/blonde, but as fluffy as my hair looks I kinda like it lol
- my eyes, I'm the only person with blue eyes in my family and they're kinda a grey/blue
- My ability to forget some horrible things that have happened; my memory is pretty shit so while it can work against me I like that I can forget I've seen a movie or listened to a song and so I am able to hear/watch it for the first time again
- Eventhough my memory is shit, I can pick up patterns in games pretty fast- so I like that I can play my love live game better than my family, I don't mean to brag, my family is big on video games and so it's a big deal for someone to be better then someone else at a game... (I don't know if that made any sense sorry)
- Uuuhhh, this is hard... Another non physical thing that's nice about me? I like that I'm happy person most of the time! (Does that count?)

29. Morning, afternoon or night?
I am unfortunately a morning person but I like nighttime best. I don't sleep all that much lol
(is that what the question meant? Or did it mean what time of the day am I answering this? Technically, it's 11:40am as I answer this but I will shove this in schedule)
30. What reminds you of home (doesn't have to mean house... Just things that remind you of feeling home)
Sometimes pictures or odd song/pitches of sound make me feel frozen to the spot and this huge wave of nostalgia washes over me, it's intense and it's like I'm trying to think of home but like something is blocking me and I can't piece it all together...
Thanks so much for asking, I feel as though I've answered like every question 🤣

Good Day!
As I told earlier, I finished my Soap x Reader Fic and yeah here it is.
I suck at titles and that shows.
Midnight Coffee Rush
John MacTavish x Female Reader
Warnings : Smut. Read at your own Risk or whatever.
Cross-posting to AO3 later 😳
THUD!
You softly slam your head on the desk as you stare blankly at the blinking cursor on your laptop. An article is due next week and you haven't really started on anything yet. Your editor keeps on calling you earlier today on how she can't work on last minute submissions. You assured her that yours won't need that much editing and she trusts you with that, but still, a deadlines a deadline.
Scanning your empty apartment room for ideas, you decide it's best if you take this ordeal outside and look for open places to work on. Coincidentally, the local café "John's brew" happens to open for 24 hours starting today. You feel uneasy at the name of the shop but that won't stop you from your goals today.
After a chilly midnight walk across the streets of your city, you finally make it to the shop, it looks like it can compete with the local Starbucks as its outer layout gives off the same vibe.
You push open the glass doors and the bell chimes from above you, this made the barista at the counter turn his head and greet you with a friendly smile. "Welcome to John's Brew!"
You stand just across the counter as you look up to view what the store has to offer while the barista waits patiently for your order. You order some fancy named coffee, wanting to try out why it has a star next to it's name as the barista, who now you know goes by the name "Gary" based on his name tag, explains that it's their best selling and unique blend coffee. He then passionately tells you how the coffee you chose is created by the owner of the shop and judging by the tone of his voice, he's excited for you to try it for the first time.
"Thanks Gary, here's my card." you reach out for your card and he cheerfully accepts it.
"What name should this go by, Ms. L/N?" he asks readying his marker.
"Just Y/N." you say. Gary raises his eyebrows in confusion.
"Sorry, I'm sure I heard that name somewhere." he dismisses his thoughts and writes your name on the cup.
"We'll you're a barista, I'm sure you've heard a lot of names in your line of work." you jokingly reply. It made him laugh as he gives your card back and you make your way to the corner of the room.
The music is soothing and the ambience is more than enough to keep you going, you pull out your laptop as you start typing ideas for your article.
Gary took the liberty of delivering you your drink saying "You looked very focused" and "There isn't that much customers anyway" and you smiled at the service he's done. He stays for a while insisting that he wants to witness your initial reaction as soon as you taste the coffee. So you slowly blow off the heat and took your first sip.
Your eyebrows raised and your cheeks blushed as the warm beverage tickles your tastebuds a wave of nostalgia brings shivers down your spine.
***
"So, what do you think of this?" A shirtless man with a signature mohawk and scar on his left eye approaches you just as you get up of bed. You remember smiling at the view, his deep blue eyes pierce through yours as he excitedly offers a cup of coffee he claims to mix himself.
"Mmm! This tastes, well... something even I can't describe! It's good? delicious? heavenly maybe?" You giggle as he inches closer to you crawling up the bed and reaching on your face for a kiss, blindly reaching for the cup and putting in on the bedside table.
"Not even the words from your thesaurus can't describe?" He whispers as he pulls the kiss away, eyebrows wiggling. Your heart melts at the sight of him.
"I'll tell you the perfect word when I find it." You giggle as you reach for his face and pull him to yours, as he softly crashes his body on you, rolling around the bed.
***
"Maam?" Gary taps your shoulder and you immediately flinch and turn to him.
"I'm sorry." you laugh nervously.
"It felt like you had a good time going on with that drink. We're having a contest as to which word best describes it. If you want to submit your word, I'll leave this pen and sticky note on your table." he cheerfully explains as the door chimes, making him rush back to his counter.
Shit. You thought to yourself. Of course it had to taste the same, even the name of the shop checks out. Your heart starts to thump louder and louder as you put the pieces together, you convince yourself it's just the coffee, but then again the evidences never lie. John's Brew, that exact taste, no word yet to describe it.
You flinched as you turn to the heavy door slam to your left, just by the counter. A man, walks out of it wearing a very fit long sleeve tucked into business pants, you assume it's the manager. Then again, you see him scratching his head, which happens to have a rather unique haircut. A mohawk. Holy Shit.
***
'Congratulations Ms. Y/N L/N! You have been accepted on the writer program. Please report tomorrow for your orientation.'
The text read just as you wake up. Your face lit up in excitement as you squealed like a kid. Your life would change for the better.
A very wet John MacTavish popped out of the bathroom, his face was full of worry as he quickly wrapped himself with a towel.
"What's wrong?! Something out to get ya?" He asked, a bar of soap on is arms ready to throw to the intruder.
"I just got accepted!" you squealed excitedly at him, hugged him thight not minding how wet he was. He slowly wrapped his arms around you and you felt that you're the only one excited about this news.
"Congrats. But what about your life here? What about me?" he muttered, his facial expressions dropped.
"I'm sure we'll work it out? It isn't that far, right?"
"I'm sure we'll work it out"
"Not now John, I have articles due."
"I'm too exhausted for today, John"
"I'm sorry. I fell asleep."
***
The loud growl of your stomach shocked you back to reality. Come to think of it, it's already 2 in the morning and you're almost through with your article. A muffin won't be that much of a distraction. You turn to the counter and see John catering to a lady on a bright red dress. She probably came from a club and now trying to sober up with a coffee. You pretend to type on your keyboard but secretly view the event from the corner of your eye. They are laughing and he escorted her as she is walking tipsily to the sofa. They exchange some words you barely make out and can't help but feel rage bubbling inside you. But then again, you don't have the slightest audacity to do so. You slowly ignored him while focusing on your job. You left his messages on read and calls on voicemail. You feel guilt rushing through you. Out of impulsive emotions, you quickly decide to finish the article home as you grab your laptop and coffee and rush to the exit.
"Ma'am! You left your sticky note." John's voice echoes across the shop. This made the few notable customers look at the both of us in curiosity.
You slowly turn back to him leaning on the counter, his elbows resting on the counter looking at you, he knows what he's up to. You remember telling him to stop flexing his biceps in front of you in public. It's kind of an inside joke for the two of you and he seems to remember it all too well.
"Your word. For the contest." he points out to the bulletin board of sticky notes on the other side of the hall.
"I... can't think of anything yet..." you stammer as you exit the door, walking as fast as you can away from him.
"Y/N, wait!" he quickly grabs your arm. You almost expect that he'd do this even after all those times.
"John I-" you quicky turn to him, hot tears start forming on your eyes as he pulls you close to his warm embrace.
"Yeah. You've been very busy... I know." He mutters as you sniffle on his chest, smelling his musk that never changed even after all these months.
"Congratulations on your most recent award, you know. Article of the month, and the month before that and that one time you wrote about the wildlife in Africa..." he trails off while rubbing your back as more tears fell from your eyes. He'd been watching your career grow, even after all this time. It somehow feels you don't deserve him. And you believe you really don't.
Pulling away, you looked at him with a smile.
"I'm sorry..." you croak.
"Why are you sorry, Y/N? You met someone else out there?" he asks. Then again, you both didn't really have a proper conclusion to your relationship. You initially felt like you were slowly drifting away from each other as your careers grew, but here he is, having the same sparkle in his eyes as when you last saw each other.
"No... but, it's been very long and I have been ignoring you... breaking my promi-" He suddenly pulls you close and kisses your lips, you deny him at first but you slowly grip his arms and let him have access to your mouth.
Longing is the only feeling you both feel right now as you slowly kiss back and respond to his mouth. His kiss gives you assurance that even after all this time he yearns for you to come back, his assurance that you did what you had to do to get where you are now even at the cost of completely shutting him out. But of course you weren't, you also long for him every single day, but life has to keep going, and you believed that he'd found someone else after all those times. But this moment made you feel wrong about him, and it's now your chance to get things right between the two of you.
"You know, I always assumed you're still my girlfriend." he smirks. He is true though, there was neither a formal nor informal break up effort on both sides, just indifference due to many reasons.
"Well, I assumed you looked for someone else... and I'm to shy to ask how things have been..." you croak, trying not to cry again. You realize your stupidity once more, but he wipes off your tear with his thumb and lifts your chin up to look at him.
"You still owe me a word, you know." he jokes as he walks you back to the cafe, arm wrapped around your shoulder. As soon as you both enter the door, Gary greets his boss while mopping the floor.
"You were right boss, she is pretty!" The barista smiles and gives John a thumbs up to which he replies,
"Guess I'll be back in my office doing paperwork, Gary. You take charge here okay?"
"Yes, Captain!" he jokingly salutes and continues his work.
"You done with that article?" he asks, a tone of concern in his voice.
"Almost.." you reply shyly. You still can't digest everything that happened so far, but your heart keeps on thumping and your mind's been trying to scream something to you.
"You know, I could use some company while I do some paperwork..." the trails off, the tone in his voice shifted into something you felt excited about. Something along those words mixed with that accent sends flutters across your insides.
"If you'd want me to..." you reply as he opens his office door letting you in. It was a small office a sofa just beside the door, two chairs infront of a large office desk filled with scattered papers, ledgers and journals. He quickly folds his laptop and puts it in his bag as you take off your coat, admiring the view. Plaques, certificates and awards plaster across the walls, along with pictures of his staff calendar schedules and some other things scribbled across the whiteboard. He offers his hand and you give him your coat, only to be pinned to the door.
"God, I missed you so fucking much." He breathes as you stare at his cold blue eyes blazing with desire, you know full well where this is going and you have no objections. You wished for this to happen as soon as your plane touched the city.
Unable to form any words, you quickly pucker your lips, signaling him to move closer and kiss you. Now that you're both alone, his kisses felt much more intimate, needier and his tongue explored every possible area he could. You hear the door lock itself and his hand slowly caresses your ass through the tight jeans you're wearing, pressing himself so you could feel the tension growing beneath his slacks. You slowly slide your hand through it and earned yourself a chuckle from him, as he moves his lips below your ear and around your neck, hearing each smack of his lip and sniff of his nose.
You let out a soft moan as you feel overwhelmed on what he does to your body, you couldn't focus on what's going on, your hands rubbing his hard crotch, his hands softly caressing your ass or his mouth doing wonders around your neck. He continues to do this until your pants and whines become erratic and fast and stops just at the right time for you to catch your breath.
You open your eyes to him, who seems to be enjoying your reunion, a sexy smirk across his face. You let out a smile whist still panting, and he seems to like what he sees, letting a soft chuckle.
"I remember that look on you. You're up to something.." He recalls as you push him to the sofa to his side, straddling on his crotch as you unbutton his long sleeves.
He grunts as soon as he plops on the sofa and groans as soon as you slowly wiggle your ass on top of him. You could clearly see the building frustration in his face as well as in his jeans.
You quickly undone seven buttons as he quickly tosses it somewhere and viewed his muscular physique as you sit on him. He became hairier and you find it very sexy, trailing your hand down his body, all while staring at him as seductive as you can. He smiles at the gesture as you slowly unbutton your shirt, never breaking eye contact, until he can't resist anymore and got up from the sofa. He lifts you down and you stand on the floor as he works your way to slide off your jeans. He quickly buried his face on your pussy as soon as he sees it and devours it like a hungry wolf. He never dissappoints as the feeling made you shudder, grabbing onto what's left of his hair in excitement. This goes on up until you softly pull his head out and move to unbuckle his belt, sliding his slacks all the way down as his cock springs free as soon as you take his boxers off.
You stare at him as you slowly jerk your hand around his cock, his eyes almost in a trance, as you teasingly kiss the tip, which was slowly oozing of precum. He grabs your hair and tucks it behind your ear as you slowly swallow his cock, giving him a blowjob that you've always imagined of giving him when you meet again. You're tongue slowly swirling around his length, feeling every vein and skin around it. You countinued mixing it up with your hand and mouth until he groans in anticipation and pulls you out of him.
He slowly gets up and shoves all his paperwork away from his desk and carries you to it, spreading your legs as he slowly pushes his tip on your opening.
You whimper at the first entrance, it felt different than usual, maybe because it's been quite a while since you to have done it, but that didn't stop the both of you from continuing. His eyes mesmerize you as he slowly picks up his rhythm, you can see his chest muscles bounce as he thrusts himself deep in you. He slowly rubs the upper area of your pussy as he thrusts, giving you a sensation that makes you wanna scream in pleasure. But given the circumstances, you only let out small gasps and whimpers. However, his grunts and moans are also getting louder, so you decide to let loose and follow his volume.
"Fuck." You whimper as he continues his fast pace as evidenced by the loud slapping noises. He quickly flips you to the desk and continues to fuck you from behind. Each thrust felt like the desk is inching closer to the wall, you didn't protest as you loved the sensation, how your walls clench as his warm cock slides in and out of you. You feel his motions change and you know full well what that means, you moan softly signaling him thay you're also almost there as he makes his final thrusts and shoots his warm load inside you, feeling the rush of his cum drip as he pulls his cock out.
He pulls you up and reaches for a kiss, a long yet intimate one as you both use the language of kiss to assure that you'll still be the same way no matter how distant it may be.
"See you after my shift?" he murmurs as he puts on his clothes, now all wrinkly and messy.
"Yes." you smile reaching for another kiss.
After preparing to go home, you quickly grab a pen and wrote the word you describe the drink, plaster it on the board and make your way out of the café.

Should I call him? No! What if it wasn't meant for me? Idiot, there was no one else in the café of course it was meant for you! What if it's a prank? It's probably the number to a McDonald’s or something. And if it's not..? What if he never comes into the café again?
You woke up in a freezing cold room with an acquainted boy named "Ten Lee" on your mind, contemplatively staring into his napkin before finally deciding to text him.
You typed the 11 digits into your phone.
Ok... now what do I say?
Hi Ten, this is Y/N from Décalcomanie.
Hi Ten, this is Y|
|
Why do I even care about this so much? It's just a text and for all I know this kid could be some kind of siren-vampire trying to seduce me with song lyrics at nighttime.. is that even possible?
Hi Mr. Lee this is Y/N from Décalcomanie.
Why so formal? Oh God I sent it..
It’s done.
You grabbed a towel and prepared a quick shower before continuing the rest of the morning. Intruding thoughts about Mr. Lee fill your mind under the water.. like.. why does he only visit the café at night? Your prior superstitious suspicions about him being a vampire fall back in mind.
At least if I get to be a vampire I can live this timeline as a doctor and make my mom happy, then be a dancer for eternity.
As much as you did not know about Ten, you still knew quite a bit about him. His favorite combination at the café is an iced Americano with pandan cake, his favorite color is black— you assume since it's the only color his outfits consist of, and he has a younger sister, which you found out after hearing him say 妹妹 over the phone one night.
The loud text notification sounds throughout the bathroom and you nearly slip trying to quickly finish your shower to check the new message.
Mom (Work)
My daughter! Your grandmother is sick, I am going to Incheon to bring her medicine and groceries so I need you to open the café today. I should be back to take over at 2 o’clock. Be careful on your own!
Unwrapping your body of your towel to dress into a nice outfit, you sighed knowing your Saturday would be another day spent on your sore feet. The café opens at 11 AM so you would only be working an extra few hours, but you hoped your mom would let you take a slice of delicacy home for the filial overtime.
“Aya!”
Another loud notification tone beamed from your phone, forcing your name brooch to prick at your fingertip. The screen luminated with an unknown number.
Contact Not Found
hihi Y/N! no need to be so formal with me! I'm only from ‘96 :)
Contact ‘TEN’ Added
TEN
are you free today? I was wondering if you wanted to get coffee and ice cream, if you're not sick of the smell yet ;p
You frowned remembering the plans your mother made for your day.
Y/N
I'm so sorry Ten my mom wants me to work opening for the café today :(
Figuring that was your ending, you packed a bag full of necessities for the day and walked to Décalcomanie.
TEN
why don't I come over there? the café serves bingsoo this time of year right? it’s barely the afternoon, not many people will be dining. we could still hang out if you’re down?
Butterflies soared in your stomach just like they do every night at 11:59 PM.
Y/N
Yeah that sounds perfect :)
TEN
okk see you soon!
Eek!
It felt so weird to think of seeing him in the daytime, especially after just mentally accusing him of being a bloodsucker.
Upon your entrance, the café was soon bright with morning light and you patiently awaited Ten’s arrival. Nearly an hour had gone by and there was no sign of him. You didn't think he would flake out, but you barely know each other so why wouldn't he?
Ten was right; it was pretty empty here this morning. You bent forward to hand one of the regular old women her tea in the Décalcomanie’s prettiest teacup upon your mother’s request of the best service for all of her regular customers.
The bell chimed with an open door. Your eyes blinked to the woman's upturned phone by her saucer.
𝟏𝟏:𝟓𝟗 𝐀𝐌
Could it be? You laughed at the irony in the thought, but when you looked up from the woman’s table, a rice cake cheeked boy stood across from you.
"I'm here!" He announced to the entire floor.
You bowed a greeting like you do for every customer and ushered him to the bar, "Sit down over here." where he sat in front of your standing form. "What type of bingsoo have you come in for, sir?" You teased.
"Coconut with vanilla ice cream! And.. two spoons?"
You blushed at the thought of sharing subtle intimacy with the fine young man before your eyes. You had only just met him, but you saw no harm in sharing a dessert with him as you would do with friends.. if you had them.
Nodding and running off to make the icy dessert, you heard the ripple of a writing pen. From the corner of your eye, peeked Ten orchestrating an English poem onto a stray napkin, his brown bangs falling on the bridge of his nose. These little actions made your heart jump; his passion for various styles of music felt so endearing to you.
You paid for the grandiose bowl of sugar and presented it to Ten. His phone lit up with a notification and you took notice of his wallpaper: Him with a disgusted looking boy that he was French kissing on the cheek. I'm not judging but.. whomst?
"Who's that?" You asked, handing him a spoon, taking another for yourself.
He glanced at his phone and blushed, breaking out in quiet giggles.
"That's my friend, Yangyang. We really enjoy our time together."
You hummed and smiled. They seem to have a good friendship, but you were still curious to know more about this Yangyang guy.
"So you attend university?" Ten asked before shoveling a high spoon of ice flakes into his mouth.
"I'm a sophomore at SNU." You replied, mirroring his bold eating style.
Ten spoke with surprised eyes, "Really!? That's a fancy school. Wow~ you must be really smart."
"Not really.. I'm studying dance. All I do is move my feet."
"I'm a dancer, too! It's a really hard and beautiful art, you shouldn't sell yourself short for being a part of it." He genuinely advised.
You looked down after thanking him for his kind words, suddenly feeling very bashful. "How old are you, by the way? You calling me Mr. Lee this morning is all I've been thinking about." You both laughed.
"I'm 20, turning 21 this year.” He nodded. "You're from ‘00? Yangyang is the same age as you!"  He exclaims.
"I’ve never met someone my age! How many friends do you have?"
"I have a few, but I’m closest to a specific six and we all live together."
"It must be nice to have so many friends. It’s been a little difficult for me to make friends this semester.." You stirred some melted ice cream around your side of the bowl, suddenly feeling very lonely in Ten’s personal presence.
"You should come over sometime! We love new friends!" He was pleading with his eyes for you to agree.
"Oh.. I don't want to intrude-" "No really! We would love to have your company. Here..." He flipped over the napkin he was previously writing on and scribbled a short address on it, sliding it over to you.
"You should come by tomorrow evening. 5 o'clock if it works for you." Ten says before finishing off the last bit of flavored dairy in the bowl.
You scanned over the inked napkin in your hand.
97 Saemunanro, Sinmunno 1 il-ga, Jongnogu, Seoul
"It's apartment number 117. Just call me when you get there because we may not be able to hear your knocks over the screaming." You looked at him in slight concern, but he only smiled in return.
Ten took out his card to pay for the bingsoo, but you stopped him. "Oh I already paid for the both of us!"
"Aww you didn't have to," Ten frowned, but handed me $20 anyways, "Here take this at least. A tip for my favorite barista." He winked and ran out of the café before you could protest.
"REMEMBER 5 O'CLOCK!"
Ten shouted, bumping into a man, who cursed at him, profusely bowing on the way out. You shook your head at his silliness and flipped the napkin over to a pretty poem.
She is like a cat in the dark and then
she is the darkness
She rules her life like a fine skylark
and when the sky is starless
To Be Continued…

I really hate 2d purists. No, not 2d animation. Not 2d animators.
2d purists.
The sad thing is it’s gotten to the point that I really cringe hearing any pro-2D sentiment at all. I hate the arguments I agree with because how often they're misused and weaponized by idiots.
Let me make my stance here clear - 2d is NOT appreciated and 3d is used for everything! The layman Karen-mom who doesn’t have an artistic bone in her body looks at stupidsmooth 3D Grubhub ads and assumes quality cause it “looks more real” (aka ‘rendered’). I know as much is true because I literally have a member of my family who told my sister and I that she thinks 3d is better (and also that she “tolerated THOSE movies for us kids”. Touching words. My sister was taking an animation course by the way). Combined that with the studios either using 2D for cheap stuff or finding good 2d animation too “costly”, I get it and I’m not even any animator. I'm just a worm an illustrator.
but holy HELL -
There’s a backlash from the artistic community that's it's own kind of insufferable and deserve to be addressed.
“(insert2Danimatedfilm) is better BECAUSE it's 2D!”
followed by: "Animation is a visual medium and the quality of the art affects how much the story means !!!!”
Yes. Totally. Animation is a visual medium and the look and style is important. Sadly, people use this excuse to really obnoxious ends, insisting that design being pretty is '' everything ''. When you treat a movie more as a special effects demo I get why you talk about the artistry at hand; but I’m sorry, visuals are not the only thing important and it’s why I’m also getting sick of the sameElsafacesyndrome rants too! There’s this attitude that's reads as "but it LOOKS better fromaproductionimage/teasertrailerwhichapparentlyisindicativeof all themovieactuallyis so it MUST BE better".
-“3D should only be used to make things look realistic!”
I think I know the logic this criticism is made in response to, and that’s the Sony + Illumination films which look just as good in 2D as they do in three dimensions. I know it feels like people are twisting this medium to try and make it like a classic cartoon when by all means people can and would love a classic cartoon being a classic cartoon. That I get- From the unsung 2D animator’s perspective, that’s more than valid !
But it’s a huuuuuuge slap in the face to 3d in saying it should only be used for "realistic animation" because
1: It’s not like realistic animation could age badly or look uncanny in the next few years. It's almost like technology is constantly improving, which I guess 2d animation never did and it was always the same technique and quality as every film that came after it.
2: The industry does treat 3d as a magic-moneymaker for this reason. Just listen to these people call the 2019 LION KING “live action” as if they’re embarrassed to call it animation. It IS animation! It would be impressive if you acknowledged that what it is, but like the CATS, you basically are treating it as just a neato tool to better your live action and not it's own artform - which it is!
3: By this “three-deeonly gud when real liek in da toystories” non-logic I guess 2d should ONLY be for flowyflowy SPACE JAM cartoons and maybe some Disney*. Just that though. You can’t do anything more with 2d. It’s never supposed to be realistic I guess. Good thing Richard Williams only did 'toons' and just toons that’s why we need 3d in the world I guess.
Wait no - that’s stupid.
"I HAVE to see the “Land Before Time 14″ when it comes out! I mean it’s a 2D animated film!"
Lost in the aether that is Youtube comment chains removed from kid's videos is a stream of this very VERY stupid argument supporting the buying of the 14th LAND BEFORE TIME film because it’s supporting 2D. My sister and I can be found on that chain arguing against this stupidity. All you have is my word, but trust me: it really did happen.
I’m sorry but...no.
Unless you have a friend or a family member who worked on these movies there’s no reason to see this and ESPECIALLY no reason to insist it’s a win for the 2D community if you buy up this crap - and I'm not judging if you do like it, but come on! LAND BEFORE TIME 14 isn't where your money should go if you really like this medium.
What’s so infuriating about this argument is you can tell it’s made by nonanimators. Real animators will tell you to support their movies cause they want some respect for their artform which is why there’s such a push from the PRINCESS AND THE FROGcrowd that you SEE and LOVE every 2d thing out there, regardless of how good it is because any recognition for it is k i n d o f what they're after!
Kiddy sequel schlock isn’t even in the same ballpark as KLAUS or WOLFWALKERS; these films DID have very limited theatrical runs (Klaus so it could be nominated; Wolfwalkers in places where theaters opened up after Covid) and should have been supported because they were labors of love made by people who love animation.
As other people have already pointed out, one of the reasons for the lack of interest in 2000sera2D animation is that the only films released alongside critical+financial 3D hits were cheaper 2D films that either coincided with daytime tv shows or should have been just direct-to-video. It’s not to say art couldn’t come out of these flicks, but dayum if it wasn’t abused as much as the texture software that era's CG used... Point being, should the world ever go back to normal: If you hear about an out-of-town showing an acclaimed 2D animated film, make time to trek out and see THAT!
Don’t give your money to see yet another made-for-tv movie on the big screen because all that tells the studio is: “yeah 2d IS cheap and only good for cheap stuff let’s just keep it cheap. Only 3d is important 8D 8D 8D !!!"
“I don’t understand how it works. So it sucks.”
Tumblr media
This text is from an ANIMATOR btw.
“I don’t understand how it works” and “it’s just some computer rendering” is the exact same wave of logic the people who prefer cgi use.
The plebian Karen I mentioned earlier? She understands the basics of 2D animation as much as you did from one of those cruddy flash classes you took in middle-school. She 'understands' the basics cuz she watched how it was made on the DVD features or maybe back on the WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY. To her, the illusion is broken and she’s not impressed by 'just some drawings on paper'. You, an animator, know the process is more complicated and is intrigued by knowing how it’s made - not bored or disinterested -
Neither you nor Aunt Karen have really good cg-animation software at your house and unless you ARE a 3D animator you probably DON’T know all the ins-and-outs of how these movies are modeled, rendered, and animated.
Aunt Karen is bedazzled by them cause she doesn’t know how it works and the technical aspect makes her brain hurt so it might as well be magic and she can feel like a cool kid sharing Minion-memes. Aunt Karen is the nonartistic type who just wants to feel safe. You're not. You want to feel challenged.
I get it: you’re pissed off cause you’re in a field no one, including Aunt Karen, appreciates; told to work in cg which it's an artform you didn’t devote your life to and told to learn it cause THIS style sells! 3D is everywhere and is starting to look like 'garbage' even if you don’t animate 3D models yourself you just KNOW, I guess. Besides, you know all there is to know about 2d!! You know all there is to possibly know about this artform and have to fight this 'war' against "r e a l" animation! And I mean even when 3d software is there to use, it's not like you can actually make anything worth while in it, especially not anything that transcends the medium. Right Worthikids?
TL;DR: This argument is basically just " BWAAAAH I’M NOT GONNA USE IT I HAVE STANDARDS (a chip on my shoulder cuz art should be what I deem it to be) "
“PRINCESS AND THE FROG is-”
There’s a reason I can’t say I truly like PRINCESS AND THE FROG even though it's not even a bad movie! Like, stop reading this and watch PATF if you haven't it's good. It's my 'FROZEN', in that; I see a lot of potential in it I just think it needs some serious rewriting and that bugs me. Always have felt that way, tbh.
I dislike this movie because the response from the animation community seems to be it was perfect and the Academy was just Pixar-crazy with UP ((ftr, the Academy IS Pixar’s bitch and I personally advocate a sequel be made to WAKING SLEEPING BEAUTY about Mike Eisner’s sabotage of the 2D department at Disney which is still in place now!- but that’s a story for another day)). I’m sorry but UP was just a better story. So was CORALINE. So was FANTASTIC MR. FOX. Honest to god it feels like poor PATF is brought up as just a talking point and never for it's own worth as a labor of love - which it was! I'd like to honestly know: had PRINCESS AND THE FROG come out now and been cg if it would have even half the defenders for it because now it doesn't "look" like how a Disney movie "should" look...
If you like PatF more than the currant Disney lineup because of it's culture, it's music, it's feminism, it's black representation? Awesome. Great. Those things should be appreciated and I never want that taken away from you. But if you seriously think PatF is better just for how it was animated and looks - I lowkey may hate you.
“ALL OF DISNEY’S LATEST MOVIES SHOULD HAVE BEEN 2D! THEY ALL LOOK AWFUL IN 3D!! ALL OF THEM!”
TANGLED, FROZEN, and MOANA? Yeah. Sure. But um, e x c u s e y o u- WRECK IT RALPH sooooo doesn’t work in 2d! It could have used different between the various worlds but it’s about hopping through different video games. I’m also of the opinion that ZOOTOPIA and BIG HERO 6 are fine the way they are. Their 3d is awesome.
The latest fairy tale Disney films are really big on their place alongside the 2D canon esp in marketing. They keep trying to mimic 2D to varying results though I don't think it works as well as the movie's I'd previously mentioned. Me personally, I would love a mix of 3D and 2D technology, like if the backgrounds in FROZEN still got to be 3D but the characters were handdrawn and shaded ala KLAUS ((sweet sigh)). But even then are they truly unwatchable just based on how they're animated to you?
MOANA would have been incredible in 2D but for the record - I don't think it feels out of place in it's style. It reminds me more of a Pixar movie with the heart of a Disney classic which is it's own just as good.
“2D is the oldest form of animation and it’s being replaced.”
Actually, if we’re talking animation in film, stop motion is the earliest form of animation. The stop motion animated THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED and TALE OF THE FOX predate Disney’s SNOW WHITE. And yes: stop-motion IS still a form of animation even if it’s a serious of pictures taken of real life things and not drawings, so don’t you dare come at me with the "but that's not animated"/"Technically it’s LIVE ACTION" crap or I’ll envoke the spirit of Sandman to get you at night.
“Every animated film would look better in 2D! Even PIXAR would look better in 2D!”
Again, Stop Motion.
No, I mean it.
Lemme ask: Would ISLE OF DOGS or FANTASTIC MR. FOX carry any of the same effect if they were generic 90s toons? I know NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS wouldn’t. Christ, don’t even get me started on Svankmajer!
Sometimes the problem is that a movie is envisioned with a specific artform in mind. Pixar started out with toys and bugs for a reason and that’s cuz they were always gonna be a 3d studio and they needed to first overcome the placisity of the models. Over the years they’ve gotten really good at effects and blending unrealistic proportions with real textures (and also not so much- ONWARD and THE GOOD DINOSAUR really needed some different character designs and yeah, I do think would have looked better with a 2d artstyle, but not the ones they had in their films. THE GOOD DINOSAUR needed more realistic-speculative looking dinos and ONWARD needed a grittier HEAVY METAL/BLACK CAULDRON appeal to its designs.) My point being that the problems with these movies aren’t even inherently the animation as much as it is a problem of style. As someone who runs a group speculating different styles and designs for movies and tv shows I’m all for envisioning a 2D ZOOTOPIA or Bluth-inspired FNAF. That’s amazing!
But that’s also the talk of fan artists and nerds and not the professional artists working on visualizing their stories!!
Since I ate, slept, and breathed NIGHTMARE in my youth I’ll use it as an example: All the concept art ever done for TNBC was on paper and 2D was used in the final film. However, even when Tim Burton was thinking of making it just a tv special it was always going to be stop-motion. NIGHTMARE’s puppet cast do work very well in two dimensions, believe me, but the film was made as a love letter to Rankin/Bass and the art form of stop-motion. Skipping to another Henry Selick-helmed project (haha), JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH was also always envisioned as a multimedia film to give it a truly dream-like atmosphere. If you know anything about Henry Selick you’ll know he’s 1) a perfectionist, and 2) loves mixed media and different types of animation and puppetry at once. That’s why he was the perfect pick to direct TNBC at the time, why JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH and CORALINE are so beautiful and why MOONGIRL, his only fully 3d film, doesn’t have the same appeal.
As for what films I couldn’t imagine NOT being 3D? Probably; 9, Padak, Next Gen, Soul, Finding Nemo, the Toy Story films, Wreck-it-Ralph (as previously mentioned), Wall.E, Waltz with Bashir, Robots, Inside Out, Arthur Christmas, The Painting, Happy Feet, Shrek, Enter the Spiderverse, Megamind… just naming a few here.
“I want a traditionally animated film [and by that I mean a 90s-Disney/Don Bluth looking movie] of ‘x'-popular live action/stage thing!”
Okay I’m cheating a bit but it’s my blog and so I’m gonna stick this one in because it’s related.
When I see musings about wanting live-action or CGI shiz to be in 2d again a lot of the time this argument actually boils down to " I want this to look like a 90s Didney movie ". Or, if it’s about animals - " I want it to look like a Don Bluth film! "
Like...there ARE other styles of animation out there...you know that right?
Frack, Disney themselves tried different styles throughout the 90s it’s just that the peak of the Disney renaissance films (LITTLE MERMAID, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, ALADDIN, THE LION KING) and the many imitators that followed tended to have the same look to them where only film/animation nerds kept watching into the era that was TARZAN, HERCULES, and ATLANTIS along with the kids. Aunt Karen wasn't singing Part of your World in the carride with you every day.
The Don Bluth argument is especially irritating because...what exact feeling do you WANT from a movie if it looked Bluthish? Each of the four ‘quintessential’ Bluth movies (NIMH, AMERICAN TAIL, LBT, and ALL DOGS) have such a different feel to them that’s complimented by that style; SECRET OF NIMH is a drama about wild animals trying to understand humans; LAND BEFORE TIME is even more squarely about an animal’s perspective as there’s literally no humans around; AMERICAN TAIL uses animals stowing away on the ship to tell a story about refugees; and ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN is ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN.
What the frack are you even asking for with that because I think there’s a certain flavor to the Bluth-styled oeuvre as well as the 90s Disney catalogue that would clash too much stylistically with some films.
Also come on! Like some Bluthian-style 2d would really fix THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS or SCOOB!, bite me.
I think this fixation solely on these two hand drawn styles and nothing else is based on nostalgia goggles, refusing to step outside the norm and discover different films and feelings than Disney and Bluth, and just preference. Goin back to NIGHTMARE there will always be a special place in my heart for Henry Selick’s stop motion, but I couldn’t imagine CHICKEN RUN or ANOMALISA in it's unique style.
Also I’m tired of every time there’s a "lets make an animatic to ‘x’ musical theater song" it’s reliably just Disneyesque or realistic. WHY envision an animated version of the show at all if it doesn’t have A STYLE to it??!?! I’m sorry but 90s-Disney does NOT fit CABARET!
“3D is so CHEAP now! Why can’t they just do 2D again?”
I think - on the cusp of the 2020s and the Grubhub hatedom, there ARE changing times ahead for 3d and 2d. The general public are starting to get tired of the same looking 3d films and wanting some 2d back, but they don’t have the best resources or opinions on animation to know what it is they want. Meanwhile, the animation community + industry is trying to figure out what to do and you have a lot of turmoil between the monopoly that is the industry, the high standards of the artists, and the mixed wants of the animation fanbase deciding what art needs to be.
It’s a tough business. And in the spirit of that tough business - maybe DON’T act like the means of a film’s production is solely your control, that you know best, and know definitively what the artists should have done....cuz you don't. Sorry my fellow criticalfanomanalysist-folks we DON'T and in an age of standom where fans and critics think it's okay to hackle indie animation studios about not getting their pitched cartoon out fast enough - we need to reserve these discussions to our circles and not treat them as gospel.
3d animation and 2d animation have to share this world. Stop acting like they’re either interchangeable in terms of budget, means of production, or artistry or that one has to be superior to the other.
The industry already says one art form is better (spoiler: it’s always live-action), we don’t need anymore of this purist garbage. Just stick to what you like while trying new things on the side. Be critical while also being compassionate. And remember:

Kim Taehyung
Tumblr media
After leaving Seokjin's you just sat in your car trying to process the mental breakdown you were in the midst of having.
Your phone rang displaying the name Kim Taehyung. It had only been 3 days since your last date so this was a little unexpected.
His assistant was on the line as usual "Hi Y/N, Mr Kim was wondering if he could see you tonight?"
Did you feel like going on a manhunt right now? Taehyung was one of your most important customers and despite feeling defeated by Jin you agreed.
"Sure what time should we arrive?"
The line was quiet for a minute "He actually wants you alone."
The car picked you up and brought you directly to the Trimage.  Pulling into the garage you swear you saw Jungkook getting into a Blacked out Range Rover. You really must be losing your mind, why were you even thinking of him.
Making your way up in the elevator your mind was racing, why on earth had Tae ordered you here?
Maybe he wanted to try something new? Maybe he picked a partner himself? Usually you let yourself in but the circumstances today were different.
Knocking gently on the door he opened it a few seconds later.
Your heart skipped a beat, you'd only seen him in the dim lighting of the bedroom, he was breathtaking. His flawless honey skin caught the light making him look ethereal.  Always serious as he watched you, he now faced you with the most beautiful smile. "Please come in" he said holding the door wide for you.
There was an awkward silence, he wasn't sure how to begin.
"I was jealous of the boy you brought here the other night, You liked him didn't you?"
You didn't respond, you just stared into his eyes as he spoke.
"I've never been jealous of the others, I always felt that you were doing it for me, putting on a show. I like having you around me, you're so beautiful, the way you let yourself be so vulnerable and open. I wish I could be more like you"
You couldn't help but let out a little laugh, "it's not so fun being me, I'd be careful what you wish for."
You walked away from him and picked up a glass of wine from the counter. "May I?" He nodded.
"I'd like it very much if you could teach me how to make you feel like he did."
You swallowed the entire contents of the glass and Tae filled it again.
"You must think I'm a real creep, wanting to watch people have sex."
It was bad business to call people out on their fetishes so you just shook your head no. "People like what they like and nobody should judge them."
He laughed, "Is that the professional answer? I'm lonely Y/N, I lost someone I loved and I haven't been able to be with anyone since. What's your story, what's in this for you?"
You weren't sure why you were so comfortable with him, his presence just set you at ease. "I needed money and this seemed like a quick and easy fix. That was two years ago. I'm just numb now, I'm sure it's really no worse than selling your soul for an office job."
He laid his hand on your cheek "But are you happy?"
You shook your head no and he thumbed away the tear that was rolling down your cheek. Instinctively you pulled him closer, you always had the bad habit of returning kindness with sex.
"We don't have to be intimate tonight, I just want to know you." His offer was sweet and as much as you'd love to be on a real date you didn't know how to do that.
"Tae, I think the best way for us to know each other is to make love. I've wondered what it would be like to be with you since my first visit. "
His cheeks grew pink and he became shy as your hands traveled over his chest.  He placed his hands on top of yours stopping them from moving any further, "I'm scared."
You moved very slowly and attached your lips to his exposed collar bone. Placing small delicate kisses up his neck you could feel him relax into the moment. "We can take care of each other, I can be everything you need okay?"
He agreed by kissing your lips, it wasn't hard or passionate, it was a hovering kind of kiss that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Starting to unbutton his shirt your lips moved over his chest, his hands were tangled in your hair and he pulled your head back to find your mouth. His tongue swiftly found its way past your lips, thank God you were leaning against the island as your make out session was leaving you weak.
"Tae, can we go to the bedroom?" You asked between kisses.
"I don't want to make love to you in the same bed you fucked the others in." He took your hand and led you to the open balcony doors.
You had to stop and take in your surroundings, The terrace was huge, luxurious patio furniture adorned the area and there was candle light and music helping to set the stage.
He walked over to the bar and was pouring two glasses of wine when you wrapped your arms around him. Leaning your head against his back you closed your eyes, inhaled deeply and wished really hard for this to be real.
He turned in your embrace and smiled at you giving you a small peck on the lips. You walked over to the railing and took in the view.
Seoul stretched out before you, it made you sad that only a few privileged people would ever get to see it like this.
Tae came up behind you and kissed your neck, he slowly undid the back of your dress and slipped his hands in to push the fabric down your legs. He trailed kisses down your back, "I could look at you all day."
You laughed, "I thought we already established that fact. I was hoping for a lot more than watching tonight."
Turning to face him you got down on your knees and unzipped him. Reaching into his pants you pulled out his already erect cock,  "are you okay, is this alright?" You asked looking up at him.
He gave you a slight nod, knowing you needed to be gentle with him you explored him with your hands. You let your fingertips brush his tip and move down his shaft. Looking up at him, his eyes were closed and his lips were parted, soft breaths escaped as you touched him. Wrapping your hands around his balls you gave them a light squeeze and he moaned loudly, he was ready for more.
Gripping his base firmly you began sliding your hand up and down over his shaft, he was leaning into you hungry for the sensation.  You couldn't take it anymore you needed him in your mouth. You began with your tongue just as you did with your fingers, lightly running it over his head.
"Please," he begged you.
Obligingly you slid him past your lips. Slowly you moved your mouth in time with your hand, you were so wet and ready for him to be inside you.
He was moaning with this eyes shut tight, "Tae, look at me baby"
He opened them, watching you take him in and it sent him over the edge, he came hard and fast into your mouth.
"I'm so sorry, " he kept apologizing.
"You don't need to be sorry Tae, we have all night,  besides, that kind of was the expected outcome wasn't it?"
Pulling you up from your knees he hugged you and led you to the large lounger.
He took the rest of his clothes off and laid down beside you. His skin was soft and warm and he smelled like lavender.  His tenderness was so strange to you, it was as if he was just taking your presence in by touching every inch of you. His large hands cupped your breasts and he moved his mouth to mark the flesh around them.
"Tae, you make me feel so good."
He stopped and brought his face up to yours "I want more than that, I want to make you feel happy"
He kissed you passionately and your head was spinning, there was no way this was real, no way he could mean what he was saying, you'd never meant anything to anyone.
Trapped in your own insecurities you could only offer him what you knew best. "Tae, I need you, please. I can't take another minute without you inside me."
He seemed hesitant, like he knew that this could possibly be the worst way to connect yourselves.
Not wanting to disappoint you all he could do was treat you better than anyone else ever had, make love to you and try to make you feel special.
"Are you sure?"
You nodded grabbing his hair to pull him close again. "I need to be connected to you, if you aren't touching me you can't be real."
He understood, he'd spent the last few months not touching you because he was afraid to make you real. He moved his body on top of yours and pushed himself inside you.
The stretch was delicious, you could tell right away that this was going to feel amazing. You were both lost in ecstasy, lifting your leg up he slid deeper inside you hitting you in all the right spots. He was slow and deep, kissing you while he made love to you.
You were sure you could be happy like this forever, you didn't want your mind to think about it, it would only end in disappointment.
"Are you ok?" He asked "Come back here to me, stop thinking about anything but this" he could read you like a book.
You dug your nails into his back and thrust your hips harder into him, letting yourself finally go, your walls clenched around him as you came in the most pleasurable waves.  He followed right after you as you felt his hot cum slide out of you and down the insides of your thighs.
Collapsing on top of you he kissed your neck and kept saying thank you. You wrapped your arms and legs around each other, each of you afraid that the other would disappear at any moment.
He pulled a blanket over top of you both and you fell asleep for the first time in a long time, happy.
You woke up to the sound of the city coming alive, horns honking, birds chirping and sunlight trying to nudge your eyes awake. Looking beside you Tae was gone.
Except for you, the balcony and apartment were empty.  All signs of what happened last night other than your dress puddled on the floor were gone.
You walked over to the railing and took a long look at The Han River below, beautiful things like this view and this apartment belonged to people like Tae. No matter how hard you hoped,  you didn't deserve to live like this, you knew you didn't belong here.
You picked up your dress and slid it back on, the note from Tae lay on the floor under the table unnoticed.
Tae: Y/N, I felt so good this morning, better than I have in a long time, Thank You 💜 I went for a run around the river and I'll be back soon. Wait for me and we can shower together, I'll bring back some breakfast.
You pressed the down button in the elevator and collapsed in the corner crying.
End note: The end of this series depends on YOU! Who do you want Y/N to end up with? Please read Chapter One and comment Tae or Kookie.

Todrick Hall's Comments About Taylor Swift Are All About Support – EXCLUSIVE
Todrick Hall has some famous friends and co-workers. His YouTube channel (which has close to 3 million subscribers) has gotten him worldwide recognition and into the room where it happens with the likes of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. He choreographed Beyoncé's "Blow" music video after she saw some of his own videos, and his friendship with Taylor Swift got him a featured cameo in the "Look What You Made Me Do" music video. Todrick Hall's comments about Taylor Swift prove that working and being close friends with the star is not what you may think.
Hall and I are on the set of his "Glitter" music video when we sit down to chat about his career. He had already met T. Swift by the time he starred as Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway in 2016, but it was during this stint in Harvey Fierstein and Cindy Lauper's Tony-winning show that his friendship with the "Delicate" singer really solidified.
"When I moved to New York, I went out to eat with her when I was doing Kinky Boots," Hall tells Elite Daily, "and I had done shows in New York before, but it had been so many years and I felt like I had lost my friend circle. And so I was so happy that she was [living in New York]." Hall says their friendship was a casual one, so he didn't expect her to come see him in the Broadway show.
"She said that she was going to come and see the show and I was like, I'm never going to ask her to come and see it again because I know she's busy, I don't want to pressure her. And she just showed up to the show one day." He says Swift not only saw the show, but she stayed for two hours after meeting, speaking, and taking pictures with everyone in the cast and crew. From then on, he knew he had a solid friend in her.
Hall reveals that, like many on the internet, he believed Swift's niceness was just a front she put on for her famous persona. But he maintains that niceness still holds true in their personal and professional relationships.
"Huge things will happen and she'll be like, 'OK, great. This is what we have to do, this is what the universe has given us, this is what we're faced with. How are we going to fix this?' I would love to handle my minor issues the way that she handles some of her huge issues that billions of people are going to see and judge." He doesn't hint as to what any of those "huge issues" he's talking about are, but her public beef with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West comes to mind, as well as incessant tabloid coverage of her past relationships. (Miraculously, she and actor Joe Alwyn have managed to keep their two-year relationship under tight lock and key.)
"I think that one thing that I really love about her is she has been burned by a lot of people," Halls continues, "and you would think in a lot of ways that she would be totally OK with being a princess locked in a tower that nobody was able to enter. But she's willing to get back up again and trust people again, which is a very scary thing when you're somebody in that position."
Hall has proven himself to be a loyal friend to Swift as well, going to bat for her frequently against Kanye West.
When Swift finally voiced her political opinions in what the internet felt was a long overdue Instagram post, Hall posted on Instagram as well, showing his pride in her decision.
He explained in the lengthy caption that Swift being so guarded for so long about her political beliefs was part of the reason he kept their friendship casual at first. He echoes the same sentiment in our conversation.
Referencing her complete lack of a public political stance over the years, Hall tells me, "She has such power that I don't even think she realizes how much of an affect it would have on people."
He continues, "I was explaining to her that, as a gay person, I didn't know for sure how you felt about gay people and I was a little bit nervous to talk to you about my love life or whatever." And he recognizes the criticism she would receive for not voicing her political opinions before the 2016 presidential election.
Many people justifiably feel that Swift, with such a powerful influence over newly 18-year-old potential voters, could have done much more political advocacy in 2016 than just posting a picture of herself with an "I Voted" sticker. When you have a platform as large as Swift's, it's easy to see how not using said platform in a tumultuous political time would garner heavy criticism. Some of that criticism, Hall says, was pointed at him as well.
As a gay man of color, Hall tells me that people online occasionally placed the onus of getting Swift to "come out" as a democrat on him.
"Sometimes, people would give me flack online that she wasn't doing certain things," he tells me. "I love the fact that she has grown and evolved in her own time, as every artist has to do." He continues, "It can be very scary to potentially risk your career or your reputation to stick your neck out for something when you don't have to do it. You don't have to stand up for gay rights, you don't have to voice your opinion, and you'll sell the same amount of records. But somebody who truly cares about the way this country is falling apart and will take it upon themselves to use their voice to do something — that, I believe, is just the right thing to do."
She did that when she officially endorsed democratic candidates running in Tennessee elections in 2018 (and there was a massive surge in voter registration as a result). But Hall recognizes this was overdue. But Hall knew that being a good friend meant supporting her decision, regardless of how late it was.
So when Kanye West tweeted that he was "distancing" himself from politics, Hall couldn't help but laugh (and call the rapper out on Twitter).
“Well well well Miss @kanyewest," he said, "while I’m thrilled that you claim to have hopped off the Trump train, I cannot help but bask in the irony that you are now ‘distancing yourself from politics’ while the girl everybody was dragging is now promoting a blue candidate like it’s her job." Look what you made him do, Kanye! Elite Daily reached out to West's team for comment on Hall's tweets, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
All tea and shade aside, Hall tells me that Swift is one of those friends who is basically a therapist for him, and vice versa.
Throughout their entire friendship, however, they never had the chance to work together. That is, until Swift asked him to be in the "Look What You Made Me Do" music video.
Tumblr media
"I feel like I owe her money for the amount of therapy that she's given me for the boys that I've dated," Hall quips. He reveals that he hasn't always approved of her past relationships either, although he stays tightlipped on just which of her famous exes he's referring to. (Booooo.)
"I think that it's easy to be surrounded with a lot of 'yes' people," he says, "but with Taylor, there was somebody that she was dating that I didn't necessarily approve of and I was definitely very honest with her about how I felt about it. She just would always be like, 'Thank you so much for your honesty.'"
"I feel like it is the most expensive music video that's ever been created in history," Hall jokes.
Outside of working with his bestie on the video, Hall says it was a wonder to see director Joseph Kahn at work on the video. Kahn has directed a large number of Swift's videos in the past, including most of the videos from Reputation. The biggest were "Look What You Made Me Do" and "...Ready For It?" both of which Hall was on set. To perform in the former, and just observe the latter.
"It was amazing to watch [Joseph Kahn] work and to see everything," Hall says, adding, "I was also on the set of '...Ready For It?' to watch that as well. And it was just really, really awesome and to be able to hear the song and to see the sets. I make videos for a living, but to see the budget of how these sets were built and how amazing they look, it was just insane. I had never seen anything like that before in my life."
He brings up his choreography for Beyoncé on the "Blow" music video as a comparison. Beyoncé's self-titled surprise album was famously more low-budget than some of her other videos because it was being kept as such a huge secret, so seeing Swift's massive budget for her Reputation videos was an eye-opener.
"When I did the video with Beyoncé, we went to a location, a roller skating rink, and that's where we did it, so that was the aesthetic of that video," he explains, "But I've never been somewhere where they built an entire world and a cemetery and a thrown and all these things. It was just really crazy to see it and to be a part of it was just really, really awesome."
As for her dancing in the video (people have always trolled Swift for dancing even though she's not near someone like Beyoncé's level), Hall says she's doing it for the joy it brings her.
"Taylor Swift doesn't have to ever dance," he, a professional dancer, says. "She'll still sell the same amount of tickets. She just loves to dance." She danced alongside Hall in the "Look What You Made Me Do" video, and Hall sees it as a huge moment of pride. He tells me, "She was scared at first, she was for sure nervous. But once we saw the playback and I was like, 'You look amazing,' she just kept going in more and more and more and more. Every single time, she'd give it more energy, more performance, and now I see her dancing in [the Reputation stadium tour] more than she's ever danced before. And I'm just so proud of her."

Don't Forget That This Is For WORK.
These photos may APPEAR to be casual but they are not. These clips are Taylor's choice of promotion for her "reputation" tour. Just FYI.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't enjoy these things but please don't be fooled.
The Blue Bird performance is for a documentary and we knew about it. It wasn't a surprise. (Even though it seemed "intimate" and for "happy" purposes.)
The 2nd "Delicate" music video was to promote Spotify becoming a publicly traded company & likely to cover-up any damages the first video did with the negative pr. (Even though it seemed like an "intimate" gift for fans)
The rehearsal clip was to announce and promote the 2nd "Delicate" music video and for advertising her merch. (Even though it seemed like an "intimate" and "casual" check-in)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ONLY thing potentially not planned for pr was Taylor's reply to the Hayley Kiyoko anon; however, it is likely that it was brought to her attention from Tree Paine, her public relations specialist, and not Taylor just scrolling through Tumblr. I am not positive of course but I just don't feel like TS is on Tumblr when her tour starts in less than 50 days.
Also! I want to really emphasize that this post isn't trying to "expose" Tay. I am a fan lol 😂 so I'm not really sure why I'd bother posting this otherwise. Anyways. What I'm trying to do with this post is just give people a little insight into what's happening with this era. I feel like Taylor is going out of her way to emphasize these things so that people stop feeling disappointed and abandoned this era and a light bulb lights up the reality of being a fan in 2018.
She's sharing what she has done over and over again for EVERY era:
New style
New relationship
New mode of fan interaction
And she's going about this enlightenment in a way where her fans can put it all together and understand. I really don't feel like we will get any eras similar to the past ones (especially "1989") where Taylor hasn't set up healthy boundaries between her and her fans. She's learned that she needs to for MANY reasons, including her safety and mental health. When you're as big as a star as she is, you can't be actual bffs with your fans. It would be impossible and unfair.
Let me repeat: Taylor Swift cannot be actual friends with her fans for safety and mental health reasons. If you do NOT have her cell phone number you are not her friend.
That is something a lot of people need to deal with this era because she deceived a lot of people mostly UNINTENTIONALLY.... And she needs to make up for it and let people know so they don't have a mental break with the realization that when Taylor decides to go private in her NYC home, she's not opening the door again to mislead her young and adoring but naive fans.
Please, PLEASE, please read this with love because I wrote it with tenderness and understanding and WITHOUT JUDGEMENT. I do NOT judge anybody who has been invited to her home and now feels extra close to Ms Swift. I just don't want to see those fans shattered when the doors close and Taylor isn't "around."
When she's only doing "intimate" performances for a documentary and she's only doing "casual insta stories" to let you know she's about to drop something.... And when she only likes your posts on the days where promotion happens (music videos, awards, tour announcements).... it's because it's work. It's only work.
Yes! She does care about her fans. 100% But when she's only interested in her fans to help sell her tickets, album, promote stuff..... You need to think about what it means and maybe YOU need to set boundaries for yourself. Because YOU are just as important as her and YOUR heart matters.
Until Tay has her own label or decides to write for others.... We won't really be seeing her truth. The only thing we even have a little bit of, regarding Taylor's personal life, is her songs. That's all. Everything else public is a staged advertisement. Unfortunately.
I try to compare famous people with other people in one's life. For example: your banker. You may interact with them on a semi regular basis and your banker may smile and show you pictures of their doggo but you do NOT know who your banker as a person is. And you wouldn't expect to. Taylor Swift is a famous singer songwriter but she's also like your banker. She smiles for you in public and is kind but you don't actually know her as a person.

Newsletter: A Special Note from Emilie...
Sent: December 12, 2016
Oh, dearest Plague Rats…this is going to be a long one, so close this letter now if you're not ready for it—I won't take it personally. But I'm grateful if you read on…perhaps we can help each other.
As you know, I have been quiet for a bit, just collecting what is left of myself after the brutal events of November 8th, and every horrible day thereafter, and I know that it will only be more difficult tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. The depression is painful. I can't make music. I can't write. And I certainly can't just go on with holiday sales and product promoting and all of that, as passionate as I am about what I do and what I sell…I saw other companies that I truly admire advertising Black Friday on November 9th as though America had not just ruined itself, and, whilst I don't judge these companies for it in the slightest (I alone go broke if I don't run my company whereas they have hundreds of employees to support), I wasn't able. Instead, I posted my anger and my sadness and my thoughts, re-posted articles I thought were important, and it was only when someone very close to me said, "It's too much, you're only posting things people can read anywhere, you're not doing anything," that I became too discouraged to even do that. So I gave my FLAG album away for free as a small offering to those who may need some fighting words, and then I went silent.
All I have been doing for weeks now is reading and studying and trying to understand. Everyone I know tells me this is a bad idea, that I can't change anything because I'm not a billionaire and so I have no power, that I will make myself crazy by immersing myself in politics. They may be right. But I can't not. I've never seen such hate and division in my country. I have never felt so ashamed of so many of my countrywomen and men. And I have never felt so strongly that everything I do is absolutely pointless.
On the night before the election, as the votes were coming in and the idiocy that is the Electoral College began claiming states for Trump, I texted my beloved Veronica Varlow.
"I can't stay here if this happens," I said.
Veevers responded, "Does the world truly hate women this much that they would elect this monster?"
And later that night, we knew. The world does indeed. America does indeed. On November 8th, sexism and misogyny ruled. Racism ruled. Bigotry ruled. Ignorance ruled. Irrational fear ruled. And because of this, virtually everything that you and I, Plague Rats, have ever stood for and fought for is under attack, from women's rights to human rights (which should be the same thing but apparently aren't) to science to truth to basic morality and kindness, and it's going to get worse. Scared? Good. You should be. Don't let this become normal. Don't let yourself get used to this, no matter how tempting it would be to put the blinders on and sleep. And don't stop being outraged.
But what to do about it? How do we fight?
I'll tell you what I've come up with thus far: I will be donating a percentage of profits from The Asylum Emporium to a charitable foundation that will support the fight against the newly emboldened war on women, beginning with our reproductive rights, which are already being taken away. That's just the beginning, but it's a place to start, and I will implement this into the shop within a few days. One foot in front of the other…we have to remember that. We can't change what's been done, but we can still hold each other and help each other. It isn't over. It can't be. The Asylum is never over. WE are never over.
Do you know what's funny? I'm kicking and screaming as though we are all on the same page (because I know that spiritually we are), but most of my Plague Rats aren't even American. The majority of my current audience is in the UK, Germany, and the rest of Europe, followed by South America, and then my own country.
My career began in earnest in Germany, during the 2nd Bush presidency. In Germany, and throughout Europe where I was frequently touring at the time, all of you, the Plague Rats, were incredibly kind and warm and welcoming, but, outside of my audience, I was not treated with a great deal of respect. As unfair as I might have felt it (I didn't support an unjust war for heaven's sake, did I? I was a 27-year-old girl just trying to stay out of the damned nuthouse!), I understood. Anti-American sentiment across Europe was very high. Then, it changed. I was in a taxi in Germany on my way to the airport to come back to the States when on the radio came the jubilant news that Obama had been elected President. Instantly, people treated me differently. The taxi driver was friendlier. The people at the airport were more pleasant to me. It had been very difficult to travel Europe as an American during that time, and it was an incredible relief when that time was over.
Now, when I next travel to your countries, how will I be received? I don't know.
But I would like to share some thoughts I had upon how we treat each other, how I see us, and the idea of compassion. I originally posted the following bit on the almighty Facebook last month, and I've been asked to post it again here for those of you who might have missed it. If you'd like to leave a comment on the post, you can visit the original HERE. Let's do this…

Dearest Plague Rats,
I am going to tell a story, and I will sound very stupid, and so I ask you to please be kind, for my only hope is that my Mexican Ratties will see this and understand how much I love and honor them.
Here goes…
My father, who has been dead for many years now (lung cancer, please don't smoke, ever), was an immigrant.
His name was Wolfgang.
Raised in an orphanage in Hamburg, Germany, he was retrieved and brought by his father to America when he was 12 years old. I do not know when he became a US citizen, or the process by which it happened, but I'm sure it was far from easy, especially as Germans were not exactly popular or welcome in America at that time. In Philadelphia, where my father was settled, Germans were so unpopular that my father worked to quickly lose his accent due to the beatings he received from other boys simply for being born in a place they didn't like (because their parents didn't like it), and for daring to come to their country, as though my father had any choice in the matter. I always thought it sad that I never knew my father with an accent, and that he had to so quickly pretend not to be who he was, but I also understood why. Being himself was dangerous, as was living with his physically and sexually abusive father, and so, at the age of 14, he escaped the horrific abuse inflicted upon him nightly when he ran away from home and never went back (he told me of all this shortly before he died when I visited him in the hospital to learn what I could of his life).
He lived, he told me, on the streets of Philadelphia until he was old enough to join the US army. I can only imagine the cruelty he fell victim to during his years of homelessness. I imagine his accent creeping back into some bit of speech, and some violence that would quickly chase it away again, never to return. To say that I was not close to my father is a fantastic understatement. But I understand now, at least a little, how his experiences conspired to make him into an unpleasant person. He endured things, both from society and from his own father, that absolutely bury all of what I have endured in my life to this point, and that, my friends, is saying quite a lot.
I never want anyone coming to America to feel what my father felt. And I never want my Plague Rats in Mexico or anywhere else in the world to worry that, were they to come here, they would feel those things. Under our President-elect, they very likely would. I don't know what to do. If you are smarter than I am and have any ideas, please leave them in the comments.
When I was 7 years old, my father went to the gas station down the street from our house to find workers to dig a massive hole for a septic tank in the yard. He came home with two Mexican men who spoke no English. They were not in the US legally. They stood outside the gas station every day and took the physically laborious jobs people like my father would offer them. They went to work with their shovels, and I watched out the window for hours, simply marveling. I had never seen anyone work harder. I thought, "they must be hungry," so I went to the kitchen, found some corn tortillas and cheese, and made two quesadillas. I took them out to the men, and they accepted the paper plates I offered with smiling surprise. They would be old men now, and I hope that they are surrounded by their families.
When I was 12 years old, my father took over a failing diner in California. On the few occasions that I visited it, I stayed in the kitchen, helping the chefs, because I loved to cook. It will surprise no one when I tell you that all of the employees were Mexican, and many were not yet US citizens. They got the jobs because they were the ones who wanted them (please remember that no job is ever "stolen"—if a job in the US is awarded to a non US citizen, it is because a US citizen chose to hire them). These Mexicans worked and saved to afford citizenship, and to be able to bring their families to the US once they had. I never saw anything wrong with this, and I don't see anything wrong with it now. All I saw were men and women working incredibly hard for very little money and for a very noble purpose, a purpose any one of us could understand.
Lastly, I first visited Mexico nearly a decade ago. My girls and I were greeted at the airport by a crowd of Mexican Plague Rats. We were stunned. I had no idea anyone in Mexico knew who I was. The streets were blocked by people coming to sing with us. And when I stepped onto the stage, a strange chant went through the crowd:
MADRE DE RATAS!
It took me a moment to realize what they were calling me: "Mother of Rats." To this day, I don't think I have ever been so shocked, or so proud.
Plague Rats of Mexico and around the world: No matter what becomes of my country, I hope and pray that you will always think of me as your loving friend, who welcomes you as you have always welcomed me.
Con amor, ~Your Madre de Ratas

(2) and I desperately need to start working out again and now I'm just chilling in my bed. Oh can you actually watch that in your country? I can't watch the German one, it makes me cringe so bad. I feel like they're always trying way too hard to copy the English/American ones and the judges (for the most part) are really annoying. But I'm glad you're enjoying your evening then!
Hi love, I’m sorry I’m aswering this so late! I was with the orchestra all day so I couldn’t answer. Anyway, don’t sell yourself short, I’m sure the are extra smart. It’s okay to not know if you want to do your masters, you’ll figure it out
Also oh my goooooooooood I definitely need to work out, I just hate every sport and also don’t have much time ugh. The XF here is good, I mean, I’ve been following it since the first season. I found out about it one night when I was bored and started watching it, I rooted for the band that then won and from that moment I wanted to always watch it ahah I like it
