Hygiene

Everybody hates on Takemichi for his poor hygiene and dirty apartment in the future, but I don t think they understand the fact that he's depressed. Cleanliness doesn't matter to anybody who's depressed, to them, there's no point in life, they want to die, so why should they clean up anyway? Now, before you say, 'why TF was he depressed? He hadn't even started time traveling yet!' let me explain this to you. Takemichi was beat up and used as a slave most of his childhood by people he barely even knew, he ran away from home as soon as he graduated middle school, and started living in his own and working as much as he could to be able to afford a place to stay and some food. He watched his friends die in front of him, hell, Draken died in his arms!! Now, please don't tell me If you were in his place you wouldn't have gotten depressed.

2. Weak

Alright, this one really gets on my nerves. Everybody is always complaining about how Takemichi is so weak and he's a bad mc, these people obviously don't understand the point of the ENTIRE show. The literal theme (thanking ELA class rn) of TR is that 'You don't need muscles to be a hero'. Takemichi is supposed to be weak because he's not your regular, run of the mill Hero. He reminds everyone of Shinichiro because of his weakness and determination. You CANNOT hate on Takemitchy but not hate on Shin because their personalities are literally one and the same!! Now, ik this is gonna sound like some My Little Pony shit, but literally, Takemichi's 'strength' comes from his friends who are always there for him!

3. Stupidity

Alright, same as above, Takemitchy is supposed to be stupid, that's his point. I won't elaborate.

4. Character Development

Alright, this is the one that annoys me the most. You'd find that most of the people who hate on Michi for not getting enough character development are anime-only fans. I want you guys to understand the the anime is still ongoing. Takemitchy's MAIN development happens in the non-animated parts of the Manga. Please finish a series before judging, PLEASE. Not only that, but Takemitchy does get some development in the animated parts too! Going from somebody who doesn't want to live, to somebody who wants to save his girlfriend and stay alive for her is development! Going from an idiot who can't even stand up in front of opponents, to someone who can withstand a beating (from Taiju nonetheless!!) and throw a few punches is development! It's not much, it's not big, but it's still there!

5. Crybaby

Don't tell me if you were Takemichi, you wouldn't be a crybaby. He lived an awful life, and when he got the ability to relive and change it, he kept on seeing his girlfriend, bestfriend, and all his friends dying in front of him. You can't expect him to not become a crybaby because what he went through is TOO MUCH for any regular person! And its also part of his personality

6. Unloyal

Ok, I understand why some people hate him for this. Sure, he was in the karaoke with Emma, but that was past Michi and not future Michi, future Michi panicked and left as fast as he could. He didn't want to cheat on Hina!! And Senju, he didn't know she was a girl, he just went along thinking he'd just be some random gofer to this guy. The other time, at amusement park, he wanted to make sure she won't die after he saw that vision (I don't remember if he agreed to it before or after getting the vision, but you get it)

Concept: Reader is a successful makeup artist with a notorious and prolific career and no self awareness. Reader joins JYP as a part of Stray Kids' team and encounters their hazing ritual for new coordis: flirting.

Word Count: 1,178 Notes: This spawned because of my conviction that I could never get my makeup done by a professional bc I would fall in love. Getting your makeup done by someone else just feels very intimate to me (ik its not, ok, I'm just touch starved T^T). It's sort of lending itself to long one-shot style formatting, but for tumblr purposes I'm posting it in parts. Also, I think I accidentally avoided pronouns for Reader? Not sure how but I didn't see any when I was reviewing this part. Will update as I post (idk how to add emojis, just imagine a thumbs up here pls TT^TT). Needs to be edited for clarity. You're fairly sure, by the time your sunbae finishes showing you around and giving you the low-down on your new duties, that you'd gotten this job over other make-up artists because you were the safe choice. You suppose it's not an awful thing to be thought of as safe and professional. You can’t help feeling stung anyways.

You'd come to this conclusion after your sunbae, while showing you a few of the dressing rooms in the company building you'd be working in, casually drops, "oh, yeah, if you end up having relations with one of the idols, just make sure the media and management don't find out. No one else will rat you out." mid-tour.

You'd had to stop and give your sunbae the most confused and alarmed look you could manage, and when she'd seen she'd immediately laughed and made the face back at you. That made you crack, and the two of you ended up giggling together for a minute. Once you'd calmed down, she elaborated.

"It's a bit of an open secret that the unattached idols will sleep with a willing coordi every now and then," she explained "As long as management doesn't find out, and the media is entirely clueless, it's pretty much useless to try and stop it." You’d nodded along, fascinated by how similar celebrities were around the world. Sure, the cultures surrounding them were different, but there was almost always a similar sort of system when you were contracted long-term somewhere.

"Staff are pretty safe options for them, at least here at JYP.” Your sunbae had continued, “They vet our staff and stylists really well." You’d nodded again. The background check had been intensive and you’d had to sign a lot of release forms about it. It was one of the things you’d liked most about this opportunity, actually.

"Your group in particular have probably fucked at least 2 dozen coordis between them." You’d choked on air and turned to her incredulously again. What was with her and dropping bombs like this on you? It was your first day! She’d just laughed and rolled her eyes at you. "Why are you so scandalized? There's 8 of them." She reasoned, "That's, like, 3 flings a piece. Not that many." You’d conceded her point with a tilt of your head. You're sure the actual numbers aren't so even, but she had made an excellent point regardless.

"I guess that makes sense," You’d mused, "I mean, they're grown men, right? Their hands must get awful tired." That startled a laugh out of your sunbae and you’d grinned at her before you continued. "But, sunbaenim, you won't have to worry about that from me." You’d stated confidently. She’d shot you a questioning look, so you’d continued, “They’re both my clients and my coworkers under my contract. Two types of people I categorically refuse to sleep with.”

She’d laughed again, simply saying “That’s probably for the best.” and moving on with your tour. You’d let yourself be distracted by memorizing everything she was telling you and promptly forgot all about your scandalous conversation.

Despite moving on, a seed of doubt had been planted in you. You couldn’t help but think back to one of the odder questions you’d been asked when you were interviewing for this position. As an independent make-up artist you’d had to negotiate everything yourself, and at the time you’d assumed it to simply be part of their vetting process.

“What are your views on workplace relationships?” They’d asked. At the time you’d simply said you strived for friendship with both your clients and coworkers, but that you preferred professionalism over all else. Which was true, obviously, but after that conversation with your sunbae you couldn’t help but add a new context to the question.

That doubtful seed sprouted at the end of your tour, when your sunbae gave you another warning.

“Don’t mind the boys, by the way,” She’d said out of nowhere. “They’re playful, all of them, but they’ll respect a boundary to the death the moment you set it.” Once again you’d had to look at her, hopelessly confused, and you’d become pretty sure at that point that she just liked getting a reaction out of you because she snorted a laugh at whatever face you’d made and explained herself.

“I mean that they can be pretty loud and playful with both each other and staff. That includes being flirty and touchy.” she said, “I think it comes with the territory of being an idol. All that fanservice must do something to them.” She laughed, and you’d smiled along, still somewhat confused of the warning.

She must have noticed, because she elaborated further, “It can be flustering for new stylists.” She explained, and you finally started to understand, “A lot of the time it’s the first time a new stylist has been so close to an idol, you know? You have to prepare for it, like, mentally.” She made a weird gesture toward her head and you’d giggled at her antics but shook your head.

“I’ve seen so many beautiful people at this point in my life that I'm pretty sure I'm immune.” you’d declared with a chuckle. You weren’t lying either, you’d seen so many examples of so many different culture’s beauty standards you could probably write a book on it.

You’d sort of made it your career’s goal to learn as many different styles and skin and face types as you possibly could. You’d done pretty well by that goal so far, doing everything from tiny private boudoir shoots to high profile fashion shows, just about anywhere you could get to, from Cairo in Egypt, to Hollywood in California, to tiny barely-named towns all over Europe.

“Idols are different!” Your sunbae insisted, “There are hot people everywhere, but idols are built different. They’re manufactured to be desirable.”

“So are models,” you’d dismissed with a wave, “Honestly, sunbaenim, I’ll be fine. If anything, it’s the idols you should worry for.” you’d given her a saucy wink and she’d howled with laughter and clapped in delight. You’d giggled right along with her, and when you’d both calmed again, you continued. “No, but really, I’ve been told I can be quite intense when I’m focused, so maybe you should be warning the group instead.”

She’d waved you off, saying “It’ll do them some good to be humbled by someone they have no chance with.” with a devious giggle. And that had been that. The click of a conclusion sliding into place in your mind had sounded and you’d become certain that you’d been the safest of the candidates who’d applied.

It hurt, just a bit, because you’re used to being selected for your experience and ability to mimic and blend styles, not for your personal beliefs. You stave off the hurt by reminding yourself that reputation matters in this industry. If they hired you because you value your professionalism, then you’d show them exactly how professional you could be! You’d wrapped up your tour with mixed feelings and lots of determination.

Vforce writing is a bit inconsistent like in some places and arcs I only like it as much as I do because of my headcannoning problem and cuz I see the ✨️vision✨️ but for the most part it is the most INSANE szn and I love it for that ❤️

Like there is the psychick and saint shield arc where two parties try to steal bit beasts exx one for v futuristic rzns and the other for v traditional but same goal. Also no one talks abt this enough BUT THERE WAS LTRLY A DETECTIVE INVESTIGATION SIDE PLOT LIKE HELLO that is so good?

Also I love zeo as a villain he's just a little roboboy who wanted to be a real boy and the whole thing was so good my jaw was on the FLOOR

Ik exactly what you mean. It’s so overlooked it’s sad. It took me a re run of the series (quite a few bouncing of episodes from season to season) to understand its purpose and need and what I REALLY want to state, even though I’m not gonna elaborate it here is that the characters are a perfect build up of their season 1 counterparts and FFS THEY ARENT OOC. I can go on but I’m trying to keep it short.

Hahah I love Max and Mariam too! In fact, I LOVE Mariam! Don’t miss out on her, whether or not you like vforce.

Ironically v force Tyson is my favorite- let’s just not go into that overly recorded dialogue: omg Tyson was such a jerk, totally OOC- like no?? He was not😭. He literally deserves nothing but hugs!! I love his dub version a lot more tbh (also Marlowe did his best in this season).I love Kai in this season too!

The detective investigation part is my fav because that guy is LITERALLY THE ONLY useful adult in Beyblade, it’s hilarious. I’m not fond of the villains (Gideon and Dr.B) because they don’t match up to Boris, but I still love the rivals- Ozuma, Kane and Zeo and their respective teams ofc.

King and Queen had less screen time but omg I loved their presence! They didn’t feel unwanted and unnecessary and I loved that about them!

Season 1 is my fav but vforce is the best for me when it comes to analysis. The dub definitely messes up at time but there are so many things it does better too. V force dub is PEAK.

I'm unsure if this is the right place to ask a question like this, but I think I need advice

We are a P-DID system, or at least we think we are. We have began to question polyfragmented / complex DID because we have a lot of the signs / symptoms (most of our alters are level 4 fragments / not developed too much past their role, we have a large innerworld with multiple layers, we have around 11 known subsystems, some group some alter-in-alter, we have complex splitting structures / we split tons of alters from even the tiniest amount of stress and stuff like that). But we're unsure if we're actually polyfragmented because we're pretty sure we're P-DID and many people have been saying you can't be complex / polyfragmented while being P-DID. (We're pretty sure we have P-DID because our host acts as a dominant alter and is always in front, hes never left front to our knowledge, and we don't really have too much amnesia other than greyouts and emotional amnesia)

its ok! things are a bit chaotic right now but i will try to answer as diligently as i can.

we can relate to this actually. we also thought we had P-DID but then discovered that we have alters of varying degrees of dissociation/amnesia/elaboration. thats not all to it but i will explain that in a bit.

you are right with OSDD/P-DID not being able to be polyfragmented. the theory of structural dissociation explains that well and its basically impossible to have a less dissociated system structure but still be polyfragmented since its not just "a lot of alters".

what helped us with these things is trying to keep an open mind and keeping in mind that labels arent an absolute. we really wanted to find our label too and that can help at first but dont get stuck on finding it or get stuck on putting yourself into a box. that can have more of a negative effect than you might think.

second off, its ok to have grey-outs and emotional amnesia even if you are a polyfragmented system. the varying levels of dissociation mean that there wont just be one huge blackout, because the system was built on maintaining covertness. blackout amnesia isnt by far the norm and not necessary for a complex structure.

if you believe that you have multiple levels of alters, layers, subsystems, a complex inner world, a lower splitting tolerance or other splitting patterns, complex fronting patterns, a lot of fragments, etc (ik you mentioned some of those), then its perfectly reasonable to assume you have a complex/polyfragmented structure and say you are a complex/polyfragmented system and taking the label. in the end if you feel comfortable with things then thats what counts.

also you can have the switching style of a P-DID System because of how your system had to develop in terms of covertness, but that doesnt mean that P-DID is all there is, yknow. like i said before, we can relate because we once thought the same thing. but non-possessive switching is a thing and its just as valid as full on possessive switching. its way more common too and especially for polyfrag systems not to have full/entire switches also due to the number of fragments we often have.

Alr time to clog up some poor souls’s dashboards let’s do this.

(Warning: this is a long-ass post abt my rw au, if you don’t really feel like reading all of this rn, feel free to keep scrolling:))

They were built to solve a problem, some of them were even worshipped, they were compared to gods, but they were gods,they just didn’t know it anymore. 

To put it simply, this au of mine features the iterators as somewhat more literal in the god sense. They all have different designations and things they can make and/or control. 

At first, there were three “primordial gods” (almost comparable to the Titans from Greek mythology if you know that kinda stuff), who sort of controlled/made things out of the earth sky and void. The first is Greatest Azure Abyss, the sky(she’s the first one in the picture). Second is Terrace of Endless Boulders, the earth/ground(and the second one in the picture). And lastly The Voided Gold, who is pretty much the void itself for all intents and purposes(and obviously third one in the pic).

In this au the ancients probably just came  about from however they would’ve in canon, with minimal interference from the three beta-iterators running around. At some point they would’ve discovered ascension, which TVG was fine with, being the void itself. However, just like in canon, the echoes became a thing, as TVG didn’t want anything too attached to a different world trespassing on its own. 

At some point the other two gods woulda been found, and through methods I have not come up with yet and probably never will, the ancients start finding ways to utilize them to run iterations on how to ascend without the void.

This obviously doesn’t sit well with any of the three, and so they eventually settled for trying to create their own allies with their own powers to keep their freedom in check. 

The Sun, the Moon, the Vines and the Wind, among many others were all attempts for this, but when the ancients figured out how to control gods, they used that power. 

Ofc in canon the ancients are clearly able to use taboos for mostly anything they want the iterators to do or not do, which meant all it took was something that tethered their new puppets to strings and took away their memories of old powers to get their way regardless. At this point the three original Iterators would’ve been slowly cranking out various gods, only for them to be taken and repurposed for the thing they were supposed to be fighting. 

At some point the original three would have slowed down/stopped with their creations entirely, shortly before the mass ascension. 

At this point so far in the timeline I’ve imagined things get a little fuzzy. For the most part none of the iterators know what they are, the Pebbles rot thing still happens, and some time after, Suns breaks the taboo keeping them and their powers ‘n shit in check from the ancients time, and that’s when the present kicks off! 

Ok that was a long post, my fingers kinda hurt rn :,) But for future reference I’m gonna put down the main local group’s godly designations  here:

LttM: Goddess of the moon and water(ironic ik) 

SRS: God of the daylight, the sun, and fire

NSH: God of Plants(and possibly the winter/seasons, more on that in a future post)

CW: God of the wind and birds

UI: God of charms/magic and things like that(it’s kinda hard to explain? I’ll do by best to elaborate further in the future if possible)

FP: Minor God of the earth and stones(ToEB is the main god of the earth, way to make the bug feel extra small and sad :,D

Thank u for your Doubt comic it had me actually sobbing at 2 AM, my sleeves ended up damp from wiping my face so many times haha. OK OK but I love?? Your depiction of young Time/Mask?? Like my actual first contact with Zelda was reading the ocarina of time manga which depicted oot Link as a cheerful kid so when I stumbled upon linked universe (which I adore but still) I was just like ??? at Time's more "serious jaded veteran" characterisation bc it was so off from what I imagined him to be like haha.

Plus I just don't find his adult self as interesting as his child self but there's SO little content abt child Time, so ur little links AU really hit my soft spot (besides little time being less jaded and having a brighter outlook just makes his tragedy hit that much harder haha) AND ITS NOT JUST THAT BUT ALSO how, despite Time looking like a kid and being more cheerful, u still add all these lovely glimpses into the side of him that he keeps hidden, which has been aged and hurt and simply *changed* by his adventures, with behaviours that aren't childlike at all (how used he is to hide when he is hurt, his fear of being alone and forgotten, how intimately he understands others' grief)

Time is my fave Link if me rambling all over your asks didn't give you a clue haha, BUT ALSO! WIND!!! I adore how you completely flipped things and made wind the oldest of the kiddie Links!! Bc he's usually the baby of the chain and I just love love LOVE how you flipped it around, how it just perfectly fits him bc he's the only Link who's also an older brother in the canon text and now he can use his big brother powers on the other three

Ik u said Wind is kinda intimidated by Time, but in your comics it really feels like he has a special connection to Time bc like! Wind knows Time's legend and now is his friend, so it's like Wind is the perfect person to see both what Time has achieved and who Time is as a person if that makes sense? and as such would have more tools at his disposal when trying to understand Time and end up knowing him best—which imo Time really needs someone like that, poor bby is always caught in-between and never quite belonging anywhere

I love reading opinions and thoughts… its fun and I also took screenshots of this ask for safe-keeping…. thank you….. Shockingly enough, I made this comic to be a comforting story!!! I originally did not expect so many people to be sad or touched by it in such a way, it was very surprising… I think i just have a different criteria for what i consider sad…. haha... I wish I could continue with stories like these but comics take longer for me than usual…. I've been told i should make a blog to write down my thoughts on these characters and this AU as I do have a lot of them, and I also actually really do agree with a lot of what you're saying right now! Originally, I thought of this concept as a way to bring a smaller form twist of the LU characterizations i've enjoyed a lot … which is why i say it's an off-shoot of Linked universe, as these versions of Time, Four, Wind and Rulie will become the LU heroes in the future to me… also i just want them to hang out and have fun ha

I have a lot of thoughts on what you mentioned, and would like to elaborate on what i think while also just talking about it in general, so i will put down a "read more" so as to not make it difficult for other people to scroll through this blog.

I find myself seeing the Linked Universe iteration of the hero of time to be a character who's at the end of their development… someone who's fully come to find a resolution to what they've gone through and is now somewhat at peace, especially after meeting the hero of Twilight. Child time is the initiation of this period of darkness for him; yet despite him going through so many adventures he's still very much a child- I doubt he has the tools or abilities to fully process how cruel fate has been to him. He's still an odd-ball of a kid who's still cheery…. I think that the true tumult of his life reaches his peak just when he reaches his 20's not right when he finished his adventures, so younger time is someone who i really wanted to write and draw…

Besides, I don't think he genuinely focused much on the horrors of his adventure at this current time of his life, and probably even had fun at some points. I always saw him as the kind of optimist who down-plays these horrors… Since he's always been placed in the pedestal of the hero of time, I think he's used to becoming someone who's very dependable! While he has his friends Deku scrub, Mikau and Darmani, they can only do so much for him… Which is why i do think pairing him up with these young heroes will do him well! He finally has others who truly get it… I feel like even if he's a bit cryptic over what he's seen and found in his adventures (His hero friends only seem to think he has four transformation masks…) he'll soon learn to be more at peace with it, and start unpackaging his feelings on it…

(unrelated) It also kind of translates to how I view his masks in this au. While Time has healed them of their worries and let them be at peace through the song of healing, I also believe in my eyes that time himself is one of the MAIN reasons the masks truly haven't moved on, because if you play the elegy of emptiness, there's four statues you play to, link being one of them… to the masks he's the only one left who needs to heal and Link is not allowing himself that… so they're in a state of half-consciousness where they can vaguely communicate to Time, who's the only one who can truly understand them (Much like how the happy mask salesman comprehends the masks' emotions, I just like the idea that Time picked up this empath ability from using the masks so much... I also imagine that if the others put the transformation masks on, it wouldn't work).

Time treats the masks with complete respect because to him they're his close friends, people who have seen almost as much as him, they've been through the adventure as well… they're actual tangible proof that his adventure happened, and mattered… It goes to say that having your own consistent group of companions be masks is not very healthy- which is why the masks are happy Time has found more friends. (see "random conversations" for context.)

I also noticed i put a lot of focus on the hero of Winds as of late, but that's because I feel he's quite underutilized… He's a really emotionally mature, smart kid who's also one heck of an older brother! The way i see it is that Wind being intimidated over Time is less so of fear and moreso of realizing that the person you've been equated to your entire adventure by a lot of people is standing right there. It's originally an intimitading feeling, that is later translated into intense older brother worry; Wind most likely expected this capable adult who was untouchable, but the reality of it really frustrates him… He's at a loss on how to address him, either as a respectable fighter who's very well his predecessor, or someone who's is younger than him who shoulders too many responsibilities. In the end, his older brother insctincts kick up…. but he doesn't want to disrespect Time by implying he's incapable so he's quite conflicted. He finds a middle ground eventually. To me, Wind is Time's perfect successor, I find the dynamic they both share to be really interesting. I always imagined wind to be rebellious of the legends and destinies as he's quite an oddity compared to the other heroes, so he definitely tries to help and connect with time, who in the other games somehow becomes a symbol of the legends themselves. He just wants to help Time, someone who's slowly sinking but refuses to acknowledge it.

heyy ok so I am very curious what your recommendations for getting into metal/adjacent genres would be bc i know very little about that area and i know youve been looking into it……. so if you have artists/albums you think someone should check out then pls do elaborate

DUDE this is the blind leading the blind bc I have only been dipping my toes into metal as of very recently BUT i will say it seems to be like a HUGE and super diverse genre it has about a million bajillion subgenres so I feel like almost anything ur interested in probably has a related metal subgenre. Personally next on my list to check out is industrial metal and goth metal (which type o negative is a pretty big name in, I've only been able to look into them a little bit but have enjoyed them so far so that might be a good one if goth metal sounds interesting to u but I can't necessarily recommend them)

ik you liked alcests spiritual instinct- they do kind of a fusion of black metal and shoegaze, another band that does that is deafheaven- their album sunbather is pretty good, I don't like it nearly as much as alcest but its another take on a rlly interesting combo. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going straight from that to black metal on its own, i actually tried that but it doesnt seem to be the most palatable for ppl new to metal bc its pretty abrasive.

I've been kind of starting at the beginning like with the bands that people credit a lot with helping pioneer the genre, black sabbath is a big one and I REALLY like their first two albums, paranoid and their self titled. they're actually very bluesy which i didnt expect and gives it a very interesting feel. iron maiden is the other one I've been listening to and pretty much everything I've heard from them is insanely good, they have these insanely cool instrumental textures, my fave album so far from them is number of the beast. ik ppl also cite metallica a lot as being v important so thats another one i need to listen to more in depth but I've only ever rlly heard their more popular stuff so I can't necessarily say I recommend them either. But yeah like I said I'm just recently starting to explore it as well so beyond that your guess is as good as mine! In my limited opinion so far it is a super cool genre so I rlly hope u do end up exploring it more as well:)

I too am cn dub truther, I play gi and hsr on cn, I'm chinese. I definitely prefer cn owl, ana and raven. I think their cn voices match their characters (that i made up mostly) more.

My backstories for ana and owl are kinda edgy and incredibly elaborate, especially owl's. So it's kinda embarrassing to talk about them.

I'll start off with some of my less unhinged hcs.

Ana's mother is cecilia's younger sister. Which makes her kiana's cousin.

Owl loves horror movies. He's also a massive gaming nerd, he's really good at it too. Ana also loves video games and has a natural talent for it.

Owl would never admit it out right, but he thinks of raven as a friend of sort. He knows about raven's probably dead brother and has told raven about his probably dead sister. But they never bring it up again.

This is less a hc and more me choosing to ignore canon. But I think that ana and owl should have been allowed to talk to each other. So I will just say that after manila, they didn't meet face to face until the coral arc. But they did kept in contact with one another, mostly cuz ana felt guilty but she still genuinely enjoys owl's company.

Also I think that both of them are kinda pathetic wet cats with tons of repression. On top of being a qpr, t4t, they are also girlfailure x boyloser.

About Julien (childhood):

Jules was interested in fashion from an early age. Chiori used him to model her various designs, and it is through this process that he zeroed in on his more Inazuma-style attire, preferring it to the more constricting Fontaine garb. when he got older he even started sewing his own clothes.

though Chevreuse has her hands full catching criminals, she did take time to teach Julien some self-defense and how to handle a musket. but being a much less confrontational person than his parents, he dislikes using force to solve his problems. also, being very compassionate, Julien fears he will hurt the other party if he retaliates. instead he rolls with the punches and bottles up his pain.

About his mask:

Julien was born with very prominent front teeth, and was relentlessly bullied by his peers for this. he took to covering them up with bandanas and scarves, and eventually made himself a mask. he never leaves the house without it, and only takes it off while eating. as a consequence, Julien also doesnt like eating in front of other ppl/ strangers

Least favourite food:

Juliens young tormentors would among other cruel things, throw carrots at him while chanting for him to eat them. as such, hes developed a strong aversion to this vegetable. his parents of course accomodate this dietary choice, and will omit carrots from his dishes.

Behind Time's Shawl: Exploring the rhymes and reasons of Mesoamerican Day-Signs

So sometime ago, it occurred to me that, perhaps, the signs of the Meso calendar could be traced to something geographical, cosmological even. That's not a new idea, the charge of certain "landmark signs" has been well-known for a while now, with sources as early as the Relación de Meztitlan describing some of the matter.

But perhaps the other signs have a story to tell, too.

This's gonna be a real simple post, much less dense. That's mostly because, as the tags indicate, this is the outtake of an effortpost. Perhaps eventually I'll get to formatting it here or on my neocities, but for now this will serve as a side-blog for explaining and elaborating on a few of the things I write about, or my diverse whims.

The Maya Rhombus

Here delineated, the relationships glimpsed by my hand. The vertical lines denote conceptual opposition, i.e. things complimentary yet inverse, while the horizontal ones instead connect causalities, sets of concepts that follow from one another.

Going clockwise from the top and following the vertical arrows, Ik' (wind) can be said to repel Eb' (rain), as it sweeps clouds off the sky.

You'll notice I'm skipping the second (Ak'b'al-Chuwen) and third (K'an-Ok) columns to the previous pair's right; I cannot provide much description here, other than the vague suggestion that those concepts might be connected in a similarly oppositional way. The Maya area is far from one I'm well-versed in.

Next comes Chikchan (snake), strongly related to fire through K'awil and the Vision Snake, made from smoke, and Muluk (water). Here follows Kimi and Lamat, death and rabbits; the glyph for the latter can be interpreted as three corn kernels, seeds of life, and rabbits generally are known as quick-footed and, primordially, prolific, lively, active.

To the left of Eb' comes B'en (reed) and its pair, Imix (lily or crocodile, wrongly glossed in the image as "stone." oops). Reeds stand tall, with teeny flowers, while lilies are low to the surface and display grand beauty, though less foliage; were it to be crocodile, the opposition would be between that which is static and that which moves, plant and animal, water-air and water-land, for reptiles are the skin of the world. Next, Ix (moon) and Ajaw (day-sun). There's not much more I need to elaborate here. Men (eagle) and Kawak (storm), carrying similar connotations as Ik'-Eb', though with the additional thing where eagles are connected to the sun, to the wind and clear skies; calm, one could say, and rage.

I also skipped Kib'-Ets'nab'. Manik' and Kab'an haven't vertical parallels due to their placing at the left and right corners.

Horizontally, top-to-bottom, Ajaw-K'an (corn), sun and growth, light and plantlife. We skip over to Ets'nab' (knife)-Kimi, the blade and its outcome. One final skip is made to Kib' (vulture)-Lamat, the herald of rot and death which consumeth the herald of life and growth; Kib' has also been interpreted as "owl," which could be taken as further support here. Finally, Men-Muluk, the free skies and the earthly waters — I realized this while finishing this section, so this squiggly line was not included in the diagram.

Ik' and Eb' similarly don't have horizontal pairs, as they're at the top and bottom corners. I skipped Imix-Ak'b'al, Kawak-Chikchan, Kab'an-Manik, Ix-Ok and B'en-Chuwen, for that same lack of knowledge and/or late-night brain. It happens.

The Central Mexican Rhombus

The axes are similar here: vertical lines are complimentary opposites, the horizontal ones are relational — that is to say, the paired signs share a domain. As before, Reed and House haven't a horizontal pairing due to their vertical cornering, while Flint and Rabbit have the converse situation.

Vertical relationships are as follows, going from leftmost to rightmost: Earthquake/Rubber-ball and Rain as, well, the movement of earth and that of water, or that of the sun and that of the divine liquid; Vulture and Flower as rot and blooming and growth, consumption and production; Eagle and Reptile/Knife as, uh, bird and reptile, sky and earth, flight and ending; Jaguar and Wind as Teskatlipoka and Ketsalkoatl, dusk and dawn, night and day, dark and clear smoke; Reed and House as monte and city, perhaps as Chichimec-Toltec (the former are known, at times, to wield decorated reed staffs); Twistgrass and Lizard as starvation and food, cold and warmth; Monkey and Snake as forest and dryland, canopy and ground; Dog and Skull/Death as flesh and essence, change and staleness; Water and Deer as wetness and dryness, reaching below and growing skyward.

Horizontal relationships from top to bottom, in turn, are: Jaguar and Twistgrass as darkness, tamelessness; Eagle and Monkey as exaltation, abundance and fortune; Vulture and Dog as passage, the Eaters of Filth, those who return to the earth that which is dead; Earthquake/Rubber-ball and Water as cleansing, as movement eternal; Flint and Rabbit as birth and death, the cutting winds and the fast winds, the stone-hard earth and the soft earth; Rain and Deer as movement, as running, nourishing that which is in drought; Flower and Death as transformation, as constants of life, as each nurtures the other; Reptile/Knife and Snake as, well, Reptile and Snake, as the skin of the earth; Wind and Lizard as living, as changing, growing, metamorphose, as shedding the dry skin for a new shape, or shedding the wet skin for a dry one.

Aight that's that. No proper sources this time, 'cause half of this is more of my own understanding of the things, though the foundations do have the following: The Central-International sign lists are from a collection of codices, notably the Magliabecchiano, Telleriano-Remensis, Huichapan/Antämatsits'i (and, if you really wanna go there, the Florentinus), while the Maya one is from wikipedia Miller and Taube (1993: The Gods and Symbols of Ancient Mexico and the Maya: An Illustrated Dictionary of Mesoamerican Religion). Both contain some associations.
