OH MY GOD I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WITH THE SAME OPINION ABOUT ME ON THIS

The animal stereotypes and general animal misinformation in the therian community are SOOO present. I do see what you mean with the coyote thing in the tags but honestly the one I see most is with dog therians. I feel like a majority of the dog therians I see play into this idea of the reactive stray that’s been wronged by society over and over, that bites because they are, specifically, angry. And it’s not WRONG to identify with that, but so many therian’s interpretations of their theriotypes is quite anthropomorphic or viewed from a “human” social lens (note: im not saying all therians are humans but rather we are socialized as such), and I honestly think it’s important to recognize this to some extent. Especially because, for some animals like wolfdogs, this can very easily spread misinformation! I’ve seen quite a few wolfdog therians in particular who identify as such because they’re relating their experiences to wolfdog misinformation, like the notion that wolfdogs are guard dogs (something they are NOTORIOUSLY bad at, especially with more content) or this idea of the wild “coming out” or being separate, rather than integrated, or the idea that they are “unpredictable”.

I think this also kindof relates to how there seems to be subtle oversimplification of animals and their lives , and I think we as a community kind of forget just how complex and difficult the lives of animals can be because often times we are limiting them to these tropes..!

But again, I’m not saying it’s Wrong or Bad to identify as an animal in this way. You aren’t less of a therian or nonhuman for relating with these stereotypes and tropes. I just think it’s… interesting lol. Like it’s a fascinating subject within the community and I kinda wish there was more effort to understand it… like I genuinely wonder where this comes from. Imprinting from media??? Since animals are often in media to represent an idea or metaphor rather than be 100% accurate??? Maybe.

I'm sorry? But also not because I've spent the past week trying(and failing) to draw Guenhwyvar and the zabrak bros all asleep in a cuddle pile. And I absolutely blame you. I haven't drawn anything in 16 years!!! The idea is just so cute though.

There's someone in the forest.

Drizzt raises his head, sees Guenhwyvar do the same from the other side of the fire. Against her side, Savage stirs, clutching his brother tighter to him, but when Guenhwyvar wraps her tail around them, curls in tighter, he settles. She looks back at Drizzt, ears folding back, and Drizzt nods, silently sliding down from the rock he was perched on and drawing a scimitar.

“Stay with them, Guen,” he murmurs, though he likely doesn’t need to; Guenhwyvar likely wouldn’t leave a pair of children on their own unless directly ordered to, and even then she’d resist as long as possible.

Guenhwyvar rumbles her agreement, claws digging into the soft earth, and drops her head onto her paws, still perfectly alert. It makes Drizzt smile, and he leans down to stroke her head as he passes but doesn’t pause. This moon’s forest is thick and deep and dark, and the sun only rises on it rarely, which makes it perfect for a drow, and Drizzt's steps are perfectly silent as he slips away from the camp, following the source of the sound. Savage had said there were no predators on this moon, and Drizzt, still unfamiliar with the workings of the holonet and ships and all the other strange things in this universe, had taken his word for it, but—

Someone hunting them isn't out of the question. The matron Drizzt stole Savage and Feral from—with their permission and willing participation, but stole all the same—seemed far more like Malice Do’Urden than anyone Drizzt has encountered in centuries, and Drizzt would believe without hesitation that she would send pursuers after them.

At the very edge of the deep trees beyond the camp, he stops, looks back. Guenhwyvar looks like she’s asleep, though Drizzt knows she isn't, and the two shapes tucked against her side are dwarfed by her bulk. He lingers for a moment, watching Savage sleep, watching Feral turn his head and press closer to his brother, the dig of his small horns making Savage huff and shift before he sinks back down into sleep. It makes something in Drizzt's chest feel tight in a way it hasn’t in a very long time, since well before Catti-brie died.

Connection, he thinks, even in this disconnected place. But for all this whole dimension is strange and foreign and often alarming, no one here seems to know the drow. No one thinks Drizzt is going to kill them as soon as they see him. And maybe the victory of that should feel hollow, after so many years trying to find a place where he was welcomed in his own world, but—it’s truly just a relief.

Feral and Savage are his, and this world is his now. Drizzt won't let anyone take it from him.

Steady, careful, Drizzt picks his way over the rise, up through massive trees that blot out the sky and the planet there. There are voices ahead of him, he thinks, so low that even his ears have a hard time picking them out. Steps, and the shift of cloth, and the brush of metal, and Drizzt slides behind a tree, lets his vision slip to infrared, and immediately spots a pair of figures who are just separating. One circles around through the trees, while the other heads right towards Drizzt, and it’s clear that they’ve spotted the little fire, the campsite. Drizzt tightens his grip on his sword, blinking back to regular sight, and debates who to take first. The one circling around will run right into Guenhwyvar, and for all Drizzt doesn’t want to scare the children, it seems better to catch this man, who’s moving more quickly, with more purpose.

Silently, Drizzt waits, listening to his steps approach. Closes his eyes, marking each one, and just as the man passes the tree Drizzt is tucked behind, Drizzt leaps.

The man is almost a foot taller than him, but then, most everyone Drizzt fights is. He’s in armor, black and red with a design on the chestplate in gold, but it just means he’s heavier. When Drizzt hits him from above, fouls his feet, and uses his weight against him, he goes down hard. Hits a rock, rolls, his helmet bouncing free, and Drizzt doesn’t hesitate. He has both scimitars out and striking in a fraction of a second, and drives the blades into the ground on either side of the man’s head, crossed over his neck.

Instantly, the man stills, and Drizzt leans over him, knee planted in his chest, gripping the hilts and ready to sweep the blades across the vulnerable throat. “Who are you?” he demands, and the man’s eyes sweep over him, a little wide, before he carefully, deliberately brings his hands up, fingers spread. Drizzt tenses, but there's none of the green magic the matron used, no attempt at a spell. Just a surrender, wary and slow.

“I'm Jaster Mereel,” the man says. “Of Mandalore.”

It’s likely supposed to mean something; the way he says it has weight. Drizzt has dealt with too many people who thought themselves important, though, and he just narrows his eyes. “And who sent you after me?”

“Not you,” Jaster says, cool. “The children you kidnapped. A tribe on Dathomir—”

“I took them,” Drizzt says, willing to admit it freely. “Because they wanted to come with me. They told me Nightbrothers are—”

“Nightbrothers?” Jaster interrupts, and immediately the tension is back in his body, stark and almost startling. “Only the Nightsisters call their men Nightbrothers.”

“Yes,” Drizzt says, confused. “That is who I took them from. Matron—Mother Talzin.”

There's a long, long pause, and then Jaster scowls, deep and displeased. “The witch who hired us failed to mention she spoke for Talzin.”

"There's an inn down the road"they said to geralt.

Its not an inn, Its a damn lodging house instead of an inn!the thing was huge!.

--In what can I help you--said the inn Keeper, a young woman with white dragon horns and a sunflower apron said.

--Ill be staying here for a while--geralt answered in his short and dry tone--How much Is it going to be?.

--well,since youre going to become a regular then I guess I should Lower the price,how About 20 gold coins--the inn keepers voice was sweet and soft spoken, and it made the witchers cheeks burn Pink.

--O oh okay--he said, clearing his throat--wheres my room?

The Man sets the coins down and the woman grabs it, putting in a chest under the counter and then walking to the Man.

--Follow me, over here

She kept her soft tone, and they walked down a corridor.

Geralt was baffled,no inn keeper had treated Him like that, softly and kindly as she did.

then they turned the corner and the second room they stop.

--Here it is,it has a bathroom and its own kitchen but if by any chance you cant Cook please tell me and ill do it for you

--Please,you have already been too kind-- the witchers dry tone seemed softer as well as his expression.

--Have I?--she giggles, smiling--please, go and rest, enjoy your stay...

--Thank you-- he nodds and enters the room, sighing as his body relaxes.

He leaves the weapons on the table,and takes off the heavy armor, laying on the bed, its comfortable and the matress ,it sinks under his weight.

How on earth did she even get matresses that comfortable?and charge so low for it?.

Then he freezes as he hears a soft lullaby being sang.

His dorm happened to be just behind the kitchen, the smell of baked goods started to make him feel sleepy.

When was the last time he had slept well?, when was the last time he slept?.

He cant really think of an answer, the inn keepers soft voice was luring him to sleep.

The place was just the right ammount of warm, the matress was made by the gods, and the covers of fur werent itchy, was geralt on the heaven itself?.

He flips on his side covering his body with the blanket,it had been a long day of witcher fuckery, and it was only noon.

His body was asking him to sleep.

And so heavy eyelids Turned into closed eyes.

And then he fell asleep.

Its late afternoon, geralt wakes up with a soft knock on his door.

--Sir?--The inn keepers voice asked-- I have some snacks and tea ready, come by if you want some, free of charge!

The Man grunts in response, he sits on the bed and stretches his neck, hearing the womans steps Fade away.

He sighs and goes into the shower, warm water too? What was up with this place.

Now, after a quick shower, he Walked back to the counter, there were some tables and some other people there staying.

He sat alone right at the table for two besides the Window.

He looks outside, its raining..

Good thing he left roach with the stable boy.

--Hmm there you are!--The inn keeper said putting down a tray of baked goods and tea on the table--May I sit?

Geralt couldnt help but smile,and nodded--of course...

She sits Infront of him,brushing a strand of chocolate brown hair behind her ear.

--I suppose since youre going to stay for a while we might as well get to know eachother, im jerico, jerico von terra

--Geralt--the Man said, shaking jericos hand.

--Well geralt, shall we?

He particularly didnt drink tea or was concerned on eating pastries or sweet things at all, but this time hed figured he would give himself a treat.

--i dont like to talk much--he said after drinking a bit of his tea.

--Its alright--she said--we can Keep silent if you want

His smile grew, nodding again.

And so they ate silently.

And well, poor geralt couldnt help but look at her, jerico had big green eyes like emeralds, soft cherry lips, and a beautiful porcelain skin.

He wanted to sigh in love.

The kindness was too much for him, maybe because he isnt used to it,maybe because it was New.

Whatever it was, he was starting to grow fond of it.

And sure,he had some questions about her, dragonborns werent well liked, but the people in town seemed to be very fond of the inn keeper.

--Dont look too much or youll pluck your eyes out

Jeri said giggling.

The Mans cheeks burn red.

--I didnt mean to stare...

--Dont worry about it

After 'tea time' geralt went back to his room.

He was internally hitting his head against the wall.

What was up with him?he asked himself.

He only hoped it wouldnt Keep him up all night.

And so days Turned to weeks, and weeks in months.

--So, mighty witcher-- jerico said, trying to annoy geralt as he helped around in the kitchen.

--Dont test me jerico....

--oh but I want to know, how was todays hunt?

The Man looks over to her with a brow raised--are you trying to bake me something again using your "cake scale"?

--no.......

It had become a habit for jerico to bake stuff for him.

The "cake scale" was measured in,the harder the hunt,the bigger the cake would be.

--Jerico I still have some cake from last weeks hunt you dont need to

--But geralt! I want to!--jer said,pouting Like a kid.

--Fine, it was alright-- she always gets him with those puppy dog eyes-- not to hard, but I did hit my back against a rock pretty badly

--then thats a medium cake,chocolate with lemon drizzle then?

He smirks,she knew him too well--vanilla, actually

--Okay then witcher go rest!

The Man grunts and corners the woman against the kitchens counter one of his hands cups her cheek and the other cages her.

His eyes were pitch black, his skin dead pale.

Hea afraid he scared her,until with red cheeks she wiggled her brows and giggled.

--i didnt knew this side of you geralt, Pretty cool~

he groans letting her free-- is everything a joke to you?

--Maybe yes maybe not, go and rest come on

The Man sighs, its useless to argue with her.

He says a soft goodbye,and back in his room he sats there on his bed.

He had been cooking up these feelings for his inn keeper friend, he couldnt help but feel bubbly around her, the way she always treated him with respect and kindness.

How she braids his hair when he knows hes going on a long hunt that Will make taking care of his hair a living nightmare.

How she treats his wounds, scolding Him about it.

And how shed wake him up with a soft tone and her hand lightly stroking his hair,asking Him to wake up.

And he knew he wanted his life to be like that for ever.

An hour or so later jerico knocks on the door, with that softness that was so characteristic of her.

He opened the door with a big goofy smile.

--Hey

--hey, heres your cake

He took the Plate quickly leaving it on the table then back at the door leaning on the door sill.

--Ive got to ask you something

--Sure, shoot

--so...--geralt said trying to find the right words--when we first met you treated me with respect,you didnt fear me nor did you treat me poorly, why?

Jer raises an eyebrow leaning with her elbow on the wall.

--Well,because youre human too, and you deserve the same kindness as everyone else

And thats when it clicked for him, he wanted her by his side forever.

--And another thing

--hmm?

--Would you like to eat this cake with me?and I can tell you more about the hunt

Jeris eyes lit up and nodds.

She comes in, sitting with him at the table as both drink some tea, jerico listens to geralt talk about todays hunt, very invested in It.

Then geralt takes her hand, gripping it softly as he finished his tale.

--I really dont know how to go about this, so ill just say it, jerico...I like you, you have been always so sweet to me,youve spoiled me with things and I feel like I cant ever repay you for this, so let me try to make this up to you by giving you my love if you feel the same as I do

Jerico grips geralts hand and she smiles,a big grin.

She almost jumps out of his Seat, and as the Man stands up jer jumps on him, the witcher catching the dragonborn by her legs who wrap around his waist.

--you have no idea for how long have I waited to admit my feelings towards you,guess youve won this time, mighty witcher.

--dont try and test me now--he said clearly joking.

--you dont scare me--and with that she cupped his cheeks and kissed him.

He sets her on the table hugging her waist while his other hand cups her cheek, caressing it.

--And im glad I dont...

--youre such a dork

And that sent him back to his usual grumpy expression .

--Theres my geralt

--Jerico...do not test me

His eyes went black again.

--Oh you know I will...

Geralt sighs in annoyance,Why does he even try with her?

Why did these damn things always fall so far away? Why couldn’t they fall right in front of him for once? But no, it had to be over miles away, in some random location that was difficult to reach on foot and even more difficult to track from just looking alone. Didn’t help that the stupid things only fell during the night, too. He was half tempted to ask Purah if there was any way to add a specific tracking function for star pieces to the Sheikah Slate since the regular one didn’t seem to work on those weird hunks of rock. Would definitely make it a whole lot easier to track the stupid things down, rather than just wondering around for hours, trying to figure out where that strange beam of light was coming from exactly.

Huffing and puffing, his sweat-drenched clothes clinging uncomfortably to his overheated skin, Link hauled himself up the mountain’s face, keeping a wary eye on the ominous looking clouds forming overhead. In any other scenario, he wouldn’t mind a little bit of cooling rain but considering he had just spent the past hour making his way up, the last thing he needed was for things to become slippery. Knowing his luck, he’d probably go plummeting towards the bottom and have to start all over again. The thought alone was give him a burst of energy. He had already been putting aside safety for the sake of speed but as those dark clouds rolled in close, safety didn’t have a meaning in his mind. Bolting up the rockface, finding whatever crannies he could to stick his toes and fingers into, Link finally made it to the top just as the first raindrop plopped down heavily on his shoulder. A few seconds later, it was pouring. The sound of thousands of droplets of waters slamming into the smooth rock filled up the otherwise silent night. A sharp wind began to blow, whipping his loose clothing.

Sighing gratefully, Link tilted his head back to let the rain fall onto his hot face. It was going to make it a lot harder to find the star piece but damn, did it feel good. Reaching under his shirt to tug the restrictive layer of thick leather around his chest back into place, hating how disgustingly soggy the stupid thing got whenever it got hot, he pulled his hair out of a ponytail then redid it to get all of the hair out of his face. Giving his head a shake, he set off, keeping the bright beam of light piercing through the grey haze straight in his sights. Sunrise was only a short while away. The cloud cover to the east was tinted with bright spots of pink and red. The world was gradually becoming lighter. If he didn’t hurry, all of his hard work was going to be for nothing. After a few steps, though, something else caught his attention, bringing him to a halt, despite his initial rush. He hadn’t really been paying attention to where he was doing. All of his focus was on the star piece. When he caught a flash of familiar red out of the corner of his eye, his attention immediately shifted. Turning, his eyes widened in surprise. It seemed in his trek, he had managed to not only wind up in the Domain but right next to the Rutala Dam. A heavy mist hung over the water’s surface but there was no mistaking that red.

Sidon. The Zora Prince swum in wide, lazy circles, seemingly more out of the enjoyment of just being in the water, rather than for exercise and sport. Link’s heart jumped a little in excitement at having stumbled across him. It had been a long while since he was last in the Domain, probably somewhere close around two months. Trying to calm the Divine Beast Naboris was taking up a lot of his time. What free time he had left was usually spent trying to hunt down resources or locate shrines, neither of which were the easiest things in the world, leaving him with no time to do the stuff he actually wanted to do. Granted, lately, there was only one thing he really wanted to do. After calming Divine Beast Ruta, he spent probably way more time than he should have in the Domain or, more specifically, with Sidon. They romped all over the mountains, swam in the rivers, explored and just…did normal stuff. It was fun…peaceful to be around him. Ever since he awoke in the Shrine of Resurrection, everything had been so turbulent, so chaotic but with Sidon, he finally felt like he could breathe. Leaving the Domain, leaving him, seeing in those bright, golden eyes just how much Sidon didn’t want him to leave, that had not been fun.

To take his mind off how much he didn’t want to go, he had thrown himself into calming Naboris and now, weeks had passed since he’d last seen him. The loneliness that had been dogging him ever since he set out from the Domain came back in full force, nearly knocking him over onto his butt. Link glanced over at the bright shaft of light piercing up through the heavy rain. Screw it. There would be other star pieces. He wasn’t going to pass up on spending time with Sidon over some stupid rock. Turning his back on the light, he quickly (and carefully) darted down the slope leading into the reservoir. Came close to slipping a couple times but finally made it to the water’s edge. Skidding to a stop, he waved his arms to try to get Sidon’s attention. No good, he was too involved in his swimming to glance over at some random area. Glancing around, Link spied a good size rock lying a few feet away. Picking it up, he reared one arm back and chucked it hard at a spot a few feet away from Sidon. It hit with the water with a loud splash, instantly catching the Zora Prince’s attention.

Coming to a stop mid-cycle, Sidon looked to where the rock had plopped into the water then glanced behind him, in Link’s direction. A huge smile spread simultaneously across this faces when blue met gold.  

“Link!” Sidon cried out excitedly, raising one arm in a enthusiastic wave. Darting underneath the water, becoming a red blur beneath the surface, Sidon ejected himself from the water like a missile, performed a rather extravagant flip in mid-air and landed gracefully beside him. Before Link could sign anything, he found himself gathered up in a soggy, firm embrace, crushed to Sidon’s broad chest. A flush of brilliant heat flooded into his face. Eyes widening in surprise, Link hung there limply for a moment, too startled by the sudden, out of nowhere hug, then relaxed into Sidon’s hold. Gods, it felt so good. When was the last time he had been hugged? Must’ve been over a hundred years ago…literally. Pressing his cheek to Sidon’s smooth skin, Link’s eyes fluttered closed. Suddenly, he was reminded of just how exhausted he was - wrapped up in Sidon’s secure hold, enveloped in his scent and warmth, he found himself unable to open his eyes, the seductive lure of sleep stroking its lithe fingers over his mind.  

“It is so good to see you.” Sidon murmured, the pleasant rasp of his voice pulling him out of the sleepy haze, “I’ve been worried about you.”

The position they were in wasn’t exactly making it easy to talk to him. As much as he didn’t want to be released from the embrace, they needed to change some things around so they could talk to one another. A little bit of a wiggle was enough to indicate to Sidon that it was time to put him down. With an obvious air of disappointment, the Zora Prince lowered him back to his feet and stepped back a little but didn’t relinquish his hold. Dropping down onto one knee so they were at near enough eye level with one another, his large hands remained on Link, keeping them close enough that when he started to sign, he only had the smallest amount of space to do so.

‘Sorry to have worried you. It is good to see you too!’ Link hesitated for a moment then added with a sheepish smile, ‘I wanted to come back to the Domain but it has been really hard to calm the Gerudo Divine Beast.’

“You haven’t been pushing yourself too hard, have you?” Sidon asked, concern clear in his bright, golden eyes. The rain had subsided to a soft drizzle. Insects began to chirp and buzz as the sky continued to lighten. “I know so much lies on your shoulders but you have allies here. If there is anything I can do to help, all you need to do is ask.”

‘I know,’ Link signed, the tips of his ears tingling with pleasant heat, ‘thank you. Don’t worry, though, I’ve got this!’

“I’m well aware of that, my friend but it is unfair to expect one person to do so much. I wish,” Sidon stopped, his expression becoming conflicted then sighed, shaking his head slightly, “I wish there was more I could do to help.”

Link couldn’t keep the expression surprise of his face. Before he had time to fully react, Sidon gave his head another hard shake, his fin swinging and offered a toothy grin, straightening up, “My apologizes, we haven’t seen each other in a while and the very first thing I do is mope. Come along, my friend! Have you eaten? Slept? I’ll-”

The barrage of words came to a halt when Link reached forward to grab hold of Sidon’s hand. Pausing, the smile fading a little, Sidon looked down at him curiously. There was no hint of the conflict, of the sadness that there had been earlier. Staring up at him, Link studied his face for a moment then stepped forward, gesturing for the Zora Prince to kneel down once again. Cocking his head, Sidon did so, curling his large fingers around Link’s significantly smaller hand. Offering a small smile, as though he knew Link wasn’t just going to let that go, Sidon opened his mouth to say something but he beat him to it.

Regrettably pulling his hand away, Link signed, ‘You do help. You help me more than you know by just being here. There’s nowhere else that is as peaceful, as safe as right here. I don’t have that anywhere else. That is how you help.’ He paused for a moment then smiled, ‘You make me feel safe. That’s a pretty big accomplishment, in my opin-’

Sidon abruptly jolted forward, bringing his face close to Link’s. Their lips bumped together in an awkward, clumsy kiss that lasted less than a second. Face burning, his mouth hanging open stupidly, Link stared up onto the Zora Prince’s face as he yanked back, his golden eyes stretched open wide, a bright tinge of blue dyeing his cheeks. A pleasant fluttering filled up his stomach. His chest felt oddly tight. Even with the rain having cool down the air around him, he was burning hot enough, it was remarkable that the remaining water hadn’t turned instantly to steam. Kiss-! Sidon had just-!

“I’m sorry.” Sidon sputtered, “I’m so sorry, Link. I just-I was only-I..I…”

His lips were tingling. Slowly reaching up, his gaze sliding away from Sidon’s embarrassed expression, Link pressed the pads of his fingers to them. He blinked once, twice, his breath coming slow and steady then looked back up to Sidon. Ah…so that was what it was. In hindsight, it felt obvious. This…he hadn’t felt like this about anyone before. Not even Zelda, who was so near and dear to his heart, hadn’t been able to make him feel this warm, this happy, this…needy.

Raising his hands, he sighed, ‘Again.’

“Huh?”

‘Do it again. Please.’

Sidon somehow managed to flush an even brighter shade of blue. Audibly swallowing, he dipped down, cupping Link’s face in the curve of his large hands. Letting his eyes fluttered close, Link sighed softly when Sidon’s smooth lips pressed once more to his own. Curling his fingers around his wrists, Link pushed back up into him. It became immediately obvious that neither of them knew what they were doing. They clumsily moved against one another, only doing what felt right. He could no longer smell the wet earth and the still falling rain; every breath he pulled in was pull of Sidon’s scent. A unfamiliar taste bled into his mouth, slowly overwhelming his tongue. Salt, something fruity and something a little bit bitter. The taste of Sidon’s mouth - a strange pang of heat reverberated out from the base of his belly at that realization. Warm breath brushed along his skin as Sidon exhaled. This…it was divine, he never wanted to stop kissing him but, all too soon, the Zora Prince pulled away.

“I’m assuming,” Sidon said slowly, gazing down at him with heat-hazy golden eyes, “that this means you’re not upset that I kissed you?”

Link slowly shook his head, feeling a little dizzy, ‘Again.’

Sidon laughed softly, placing a small kiss on the tip of his nose, “Come back to the Domain with me and get some food, some sleep and I’ll kiss you all you want.”

Snorting, Link quirked a brow, ‘Like I’d say no? I wanna go but one more to hold me over until we get there.’

Laughing once more, Sidon did as he asked, dipping down for a quick, sweet kiss before gathering him up into his arms. Snuggling close, feeling lighter and stronger than he had since he left the Domain, Link rested his cheek on Sidon’s shoulder. Watching the scenery pass as they made their way back down into the Domain, Link realized there was a little bit of an issue with how things had turned out. Naboris was still waiting to be infiltrated and freed from the Calamity’s grasp but he wasn’t so sure he would be able to extract himself from the Domain anytime soon. Sighing softly, Link curled his arms around Sidon’s shoulders.

Oh well, he would figure out some sort of solution. He always did.

i know i have posted this before but i decided to do it again because im re doing some things as well. i have posted this on my devianart as well so if you see it there its mine. i started writting this back in 2014 but have yet to expand on it. any and all feed back is welcomed.

Chapter 1

Memories and A Hell hounds revenge

<Coda’s POV>

"I’m going to kill Gabriel, I mean he didn’t even pay attention to the plan, that window must have been very interesting for him not to object to me being bait." I said as my cousin Isabel and I walked up the mansion’s gravel path.

She hates being called by her full name so I call her Isa. Mainly she hates her name because it belonged to her real mom who died a little while after she was born so my Uncle Sam thought it would be nice for her to have the name. My uncle basically raised her on his own after that; sure he would visit me and my dad but he soon became lonely and started to date one of the hunters he met while on a mission in Oklahoma, then after a couple of years Sam married Jamey Foster and became Isa’s step mom. Isa likes her but she doesn’t really interact with her, she said it’s because she never really knew her real mom and her dad doesn’t really pay attention to what she does so she feels abandoned in a way I think that’s why she envy’s me so much, because I still have my parents and they constantly nag me on everything I do.

My dad is Dean Winchester and my mom is Lisa Braeden I used to have an older half-brother named Ben but he died of cancer about two years ago he was an awesome older brother and I miss him like crazy so I go and visit his grave once in a while. Now I’m the only child, I think that’s why my mom is so protective of me; my phone has been going off for a while now and the ignore button was my salvation to not hear my mother's nagging voice.

"Will you shut that phone up? Turn it off before it wakes the dead, and I have no idea but Balthazar didn’t exactly say no either so you’re not the only one mad."

Isa sounded more irritated than I did witch isn’t good because if I know one thing about my cousin it’s that she might sound all nice but once you piss her off she goes bat shit crazy.

Isa and I have some similarities we both have the temper thing which comes in handy at times, we have the same body shape, not skinny like most of the other hunters but lean and our height is the same too five foot eight and our skin is the same color cream tan. But that’s where our similarity ends while I have dark brown hair and she has Jet raven black hair, my eyes are an emerald green and hers are deep electric blue. Even our taste in clothing is different I like skinny jeans, AirWalk shoes, and regular T-shirts, Isa likes shorts no matter what kind of weather it is, she never gets cold! Sometimes I like to call her a space heater because of it. And hoodies oh my god you never catch her without a freaking hoodie on I mean come on I wear sweat shirts sometimes but not all the time like her, you know sometimes I just want to raid her closet and burn all her hoodies but knowing her she would kill me if I did that so I will just let it be. Her favorite shoes to wear are just regular kick around tennis shoes mainly Nike though.

We kept walking up the long ass gravel path, Mind still on Gabriel I began to try and figure out what was so distracting that he couldn’t even pay attention, he has always found ways to irritate me but this wasn’t like him.

I thought back to when I first met him, at the time my dad and I were hunting vampires and no they don’t sparkle we live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun and the whole two fangs thing is bullshit, also sadly to all you poor hopeless fan girls most of them look hideous.

(Flash Back)

Gabriel was different back then he was more all business and attitude until I saved him, well we kind of saved each other; my dad and I were headed north for a case it was supposed to be a simple clean out about ten vamps or so we thought. They were spread out through the small abandoned town of Beldame five hours away from home (this was before my mom became over protective.)

We got our gear from the trunk of my dad’s impala, he had all sorts of stuff in there; you know the usual stuff holy oil, lighters, different types of shot guns and knives all different sizes but I didn’t need that stuff I had my own personal switchblade, 45 caliber, and lock pick. I took a look around it was your usual town with bakeries, toy shops, hotels, gravel everywhere and trees lots and lots of trees but only everything was beat to hell. Holes where in most of the buildings and stores the signs that used to hang were either on the ground or chard basically it looked like a bomb when off in the middle of the town.

After we loaded up all the other stuff we didn’t need my dad turned to me throwing the duffle bag over his shoulder and spoke in his oh so threatening parent voice.

“Do not wonder off and don’t get caught, this isn’t like the other times we hunted if you hesitate if you give them the chance they will kill you.” Even though I knew what I was getting into his warning sent a chill down my spine.

“Ok dad I get it no wondering off and keep an eye out for the blood sucking monsters got it” I said with a head nod he must have saw it for he rolled his eyes at me and mumbled under his breath, something on the line of “what am I going to do with you”.

We started moving from one building to the next going into them without any luck of finding one vamp, we were on our tenth building halfway into the town until we finally spotted several vamps going into a basement of an old tattered house, My dad and I were in between the vamps hide out and a half blown up shed when he put his arm out in front of me causing me to stop.

“Coda stay here I’m going in if I don’t come out in five minutes I want you to call Sam and give him your location.” This irritated me till no end, no way was I going to sit here and be excluded from the fight.

“Dad it would be easier to kill them if I went with you I mean we just saw more than five vamps walk in there I’m not going to stay here and have you get yourself killed just because you think I’m still a kid! well news flash dad I’m seventeen get over it and start treating me like a freaking adult.” He looked at me for several seconds then sighed.

“Your mother is going to kill me.” He said more to himself than to me then continued. “Right let’s go.”

We snuck our way up to the basement door, I surveyed the area just to make sure no vamp would get the jump on us but all I could see were trees around us. When my dad opened the door we were met with a flock of vamps staring back at us as if they knew we were coming. Dad slammed the door and we took off running for our lives.

“I thought you said there were only going to be 10!” I shouted as we booked it across town to the car.

“If I knew there would be more than 10 then we would have had Sam as back up!” He retorted.

We were halfway to the car when the vamps suddenly burst through every store door; even the ones we checked, and started to gain on us, by the pace we were going it wouldn’t be too long till we got caught.

That’s when I saw an opening close to the town boarder that lead into the woods, if I could pick the vamps off one by one then I should be fine I’m good at one on one combat.

Dad and I took refuge in the toy store luckily this one didn’t have any holes in the structure so we were good for a while, as we tried to catch our breath I told him my plan.

“What? No! Absolutely not, no way!” I knew he would fight me on this but we didn’t have time.

“Dad we need to split up divide the group so we have a better chance at surviving, unless you have another plan mines all we got.” After a minute he ran his hand down his face then looked at me and cursed.

“Damn it! Fine we’ll do it your way but take the machete.” He said as he dropped his duffle bag and took out the big hacker and handing it to me, I studied the long and wide blade tilting it back and forth to find the balance in it.

After sheathing it I wrapped the holster around my waist, before I went through the back door I gave my dad a hug.

“Be careful ok Coda your mother would kill me if anything where to happen to you.” He said into my hair, I let go of him and gave him my version of a reassuring smile which is a cross between a grimace and a half smile.

“I will.” Then I took off toward the opening I saw earlier, the vamps that where by the back door sprinted after me in a heartbeat. I could hear my dad yelling something close to “come and get me fuglies.”

         Some of the foot steps behind me took the bait and disappeared probably going after my dad but I didn’t check I was too busy pushing through bushes and branches while trying not to trip and fall. The footsteps that where behind me where gone now so I took refuge behind a big ass tree, while I hid behind the mother of all trees, I unsheathed big bertha and tried to slow down my breathing and heart rate.

When I got control and was able to breathe normal I noticed that there wasn’t any birds around because it was just silent and that usually meant a predator was lurking close by, a twig broke about a couple feet away from my hiding place proving me right. I took a deep breath and stepped out from my hiding place to take a look, sure enough a vamp was sniffing the air like a freaking dog.

I was about to try and figure out how to take him out when just then eight more jumped out of nowhere surrounding me. I was not good at multi fighting especially with vampires, one of the dicks saw my hesitation and shoved me to the ground, and my blade went flying. The one that shoved me was now on top of me no doubt about to bite me when a bright light flashed radiating heat like the sun, the vamp on top of me disintegrated.

My hands flung up instantly to cover my eyes but just as sudden the light disappeared, I laid their on the ground for a couple of seconds stunned until an unfamiliar voice spoke to me. “Its ok I’m not going to hurt you Decoda.” I got up with a quickness and looked at the guy standing a couple of feet away from me, He was about five foot ten maybe a little taller with broad shoulders; basically your normal football jock type body, his hair is bronze brown and his eyes where the most shocking green I have ever seen. His clothes consisted of a brown jacket with a sort of light blue T-shirt, Blue boot cut jeans, and brown leather shoes.

I dusted off my hands and clothes looking anywhere but at him then crossed my arms over my chest and eyed him suspiciously. “Thanks for the save. Now how the hell do you know my name?”

With a hint of wonder in his voice he replied. “Wow nothing gets past you, and from the looks of it you don’t seem afraid of me, which is different, people would freak if they just magically saw a light and then a guy standing in the middle of a forest.”

I shrugged and said. “I’m a hunter weird is basically the norm for me and you also saved my life so I owe you one, anyway you got a name vamp buster?”

He chuckled at me and shook his head. “Your funny you know that? But sorry sweetie you don’t have the authority to know my name at the moment and don’t worry about the IOU thing protecting you just became my job.”

I blinked at him, anger flaring up in me with a quickness. “I’m sorry I don’t think I heard you right could you say that again?” amusement flashed in his eyes. “Protecting you just became my job.”

Anger bubbled in me at his reply. “No the first part you dick.”

He stepped closer so that he was about arm’s length away and smirked at me. “You don’t have the authority to know my name.”

I was about to tell him where he could shove his authority when a movement caught my eye, sure enough in the distance a vamp stepped out from behind a tree. I pulled out my caliber and pointed it at my potential savior, he didn’t even flinch. “There is no need for the gun Decoda, could you put that thing away.”

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to shoot him too but he still had to answer a few questions first, giving him a blank face I said. “Duck.” Just then the vamp sprang at him, he was wise enough to do as I said and ducked, once he was out of the line of fire I pulled the trigger. The vamp jerked backwards as if he just hit an invisible wall, with a thud he fell to the forest floor.

I looked down at the mystery guy and pointed the gun at his head with a smirk and said. “Now how about that name.”

He looked at me kind of shocked then he shook his head and got up from his ducked position. “Well seeing as you have the upper hand why not, the names Gabriel.”

Putting my gun away I thought about it for a second I’ve heard the name before many kids have that name but how he said it seemed to hold some kind of power behind it, that’s when it hit me. “Gabriel as in the Arch Angel Gabriel?”

He smiled and opened his arms as if to say here I am. “The one and only.” I laughed and he gave me a confused look. “Why are you laughing?” shaking my head I continued to laugh. “You’re not surprised that I’m an angel?”

I shook my head again finally able to get ahold on my laughter I replied. “Nope not at all, I practically grew up with an angel as my uncle so I’m not surprised at all.”

He cocked his head to the right and looked at me. “What angel did you grow up with?” I smiled and replied. “Castiel.” Recollection crossed his face. “Ah I see so Dean did keep his boyfriend after all.” I shrugged not really caring but snorted at his title for Cas, I didn’t see Cass as an angel I saw him as my uncle that’s all I really cared about.

Then another thought accrued to me and made me smile even more, I have always wanted my own angel like my dad had, but I grew up with one thought and one thought only. If I were to have an Angel by my side it would always be Gabriel, you see ever since I was a kid that particular angel had always had a pull on me whenever my pastor would speak of him like as if I knew in my soul that we would meet someday, to have an arch angle as your protector was like having the answers to a final exam.

“Well isn’t this ironic.” I said more to myself than to him, He crossed his arms and gave me an impatient look apparently he didn’t like these guessing games.

“What’s ironic?” he said annoyance filling his voice, I debated whether or not to tell him then I looked him straight in the eye. “Gabriel is my favorite arch angel, has been since as long as I can remember.” I could see he was a little taken back by this because he dropped his hands and put them in his pockets while not looking at me and muttered “Oh… well… uh… Thanks?”

He quickly snapped his head back in my direction when I added “But I believe it started with a dream you were taller in it though.” I could see a vein popping out from his head as he yelled “What is that supposed to mean! I’m not short!”  

A gun shot broke our small talk and I remembered where I was and the situation that was accruing. “Crap my dad!” I was about to run toward the gun shot but Gabriel grabbed my hand and twirled me around to face him, we were a little too close to one another that my breath caught for a second, the smell of cinnamon sticks and vanilla filled my nose.

His deep green eyes bore into mine. “I can’t go with you.” He said in a serious voice, more gun shots rang through the sky like thunder.

I cleared my throat and recollected myself before I spoke. “Ok, But I wasn’t going to ask you to come.” He let go of my hand that I was now aware he was holding the whole time and racked it through his hair. “You don’t understand, I will be with you but you won’t see me.”

I gave him a confused look. “Wait, your confusing me so you are coming with me or not?” he smiled and said “yes and no.”

This little cat and mouse game was really ticking me off, why couldn’t he just give me a straight answer? He just shook his head. “I can’t be there unless you want me there its part of the rules I was given, if you need me call out to me.”

He was confusing me till no end, rules what rules? And who ordered him to protect me? Right now my dad’s safety was more important than my unanswered questions.

“How do I call you like just pray?”  He winked at me and then said “oh trust me you’ll now.” then he placed two fingers on the center of my forehead, Everything went white then color exploded around me, someone ran right into me knocking me down I looked over and saw my dad his shocked face mimicking my own. “Coda how the hell?”

Just then a vamp roared and jumped on him trying to get at his neck, I pulled out my gun and shot the blood sucker right in the head, my dad pushed it off and got up. “Thanks.” He said then helped me up, I looked around sure enough Gabriel stuck to his word and wasn’t anywhere in sight.

“You want to tell me how you just suddenly appeared in front of me?” But before I could say anything we were surrounded by thirty vamps all barring their pointy teeth at us, too many for my dad and I to handle. My dad put a protective hand in front of me but we both knew how this would end, then Gabriel’s voice rang through my mind scaring the hell out of me. “I can’t be there unless you want me there.” Ok a little weird having his voice in my head, but I definitely wanted him here I didn’t feel like dying today.

Again his voice invaded my mind. “If you need me call out to me I won’t come unless you call.” Ok now he was just messing with me, how the hell am I supposed to know what to say I barely said anything to the guy I mean come on I called him vamp buster before he told me his name that was about it.

“Oh you’ll know.” His voice rang again; oh my god you have got to be kidding me. “Nope.” You are so pathetic and a child I said to him mentally. “That’s a little harsh, Come on you know you wanna say it.” He taunted; Fine! I shouted in my head giving in.

I stepped around my dad’s arm sucked in a deep breath and yelled. “Who you gonna call?!” just on cue that same bright light flashed and just like before it vanished just as it appeared, in the clearing just a little away from my dad and I stood none other than Gabriel, he looked at me and raised one fist in the air and said. “Vamp busters!” I laughed and walked over to him and gave him a hug; he deserved it for saving our asses,

He then twirled me around un-expectantly and then put me down and said. “See I told you, you could trust me.” My dad cleared his throat and we both turned to look at him, he had on his you better start explaining now or I’m going to start shooting look. At a wave of my hand I introduced them to each other “Dad this is Gabriel, Gabriel this is my Dad.”

My dad walked over and gave Gabriel a skeptical look. “How the hell are you still alive I thought Lucifer killed you?” this was news to me, Gabriel only shrugged and said. “Yea I did die but Dad brought me back, before he set me lose though he gave me an order and some ground rules.” Dad had a worried expression on his face when he said that. “What order did he give you?” Gabriel looked at me and then at him. “I am to protect and aid Decoda Winchester in any way she needs.” Then he added. “Basically I‘m the Cass to her Dean.” I chuckled at that, my dad gave me his shut up look and went back to Gabriel. “What does Chuck want with my daughter?” he demanded Gabe only shrugged. “Your guess is as good as mine Dean-o but I can’t go against daddy’s wishes so here I am.”

My dad ran a hand through his hair then asked. “One more thing what ground rules did Mr. Almighty give you?” Gabriel tilted his head obviously trying to think then he replied. “Rule one, protect her with my life. Two, when she calls me I have to come no matter what. Three… well I really say the rest till I’m given the ok so… Hey.” He said looking around. “Should I get you guys out of here cause this is so not my scene.”

After Gabriel got us to the Impala he yelled “shot gun!” and ran for the door, I swear he was acting like the biggest five year old I have ever met which was funny because earlier he acted like any other angel (A dick). I thought he would be just a bit more mature, I wonder what switched flipped in his brain but what can you do?

After the vamp hunt he just kept showing up in places we had hunts and he would pull the most childish stunts, soon we just started ignoring him but he would keep repeating that it was his job to protect me that I was special in some sort of way, I was annoyed having him around watching my every move but after a while the un thinkable happened he started to grow on me, I even pulled a few pranks on him myself.

The pranking would last for weeks but always come to a forced stop because my dad would go crazy and say “I have one kid not two! Gabriel get the hell out of here or act your age!" and Gabriel would say something childish like "But she stared it!" or “Common dean where’s your funny bone?" Or my favorite “look at me dean I am acting my age.” and then all hell would break loose and I ended up grounded for a week. Now it’s not so bad and we don’t prank as much anymore but when we do we don’t hold back.

(Present day)  

"Earth to Coda." Isa said snapping me back to reality. "Yea?" "Where here...” I looked up at the old rotting Victorian style mansion before me, the windows cracked and covered in dust, the paint peeling from the wooden frame.

When I stepped on the porch the wood creaked with old age, I looked over at Isa smiling "look Isa a haunted house isn’t that awesome?" she rolled her eyes and said " yea, yea whatever let’s just get this over with I have an exam in the morning and this is messing up my study time." I snorted.  “who cares about a stupid exam where hunting!" Isa smiled back repaying " you should we're in the same class moron. Plus if you fail, you can say bye bye to hunting." then she walked through the mansion door leaving me fuming.

I hate it when she gets the last word and when she is right... Oh well I’ll get her back later. “you gonna stand on the porch all night or are you gonna come in here and help me?" Isa shouted from what I think was the living room.

After getting inside I dropped my duffle bag on the floor by the front door and started fishing for the ghost detector with my flash light in my mouth, when I successfully found it I glanced at my black G-Shock watch it was about 10:30 pm that means Dad and Sam would be on the 3rd floor setting up the salt trap for Mr. Ghost boy.

I started scanning for any ghost activity in the hallway and ended up in the living room where Isa was doing the same thing, the living room was huge but barren except for an old broken coffee table and an ancient looking rocking chair in front of a brick fire place. “So who is this guy that we are hunting?” I said glancing at Isa who was still scanning the room.

“His name is Richard Bernard he was a rich guy who made his money by gambling.” She said not the least bit caring. I turned back to get a better look at the fire place and above it was an old picture frame of some old guy who I interpreted to be Richard. Glancing back at my ghost detector I asked “So how did he die, One too many slight of hands?”

Isa sighed and put the scanner in her coat pocket and turned toward me annoyance written all over her face. “You should have read the file your dad gave you, but if you must know someone offed him for cheating at poker. You might want to take a note on that coda.” I gave her my most playful shocked look “Ah, whatever do you mean my dear cousin? Me cheat at poker I would never!” I said in mock innocence, she just rolled her eyes. “Just get back to work.” As she walked away I stuck my tongue out at her.

“Get back to work.” I mumbled under my breath mocking her, Isa then turned and took the scanner out of her pocket to do another once over the living room. Eye of the tiger then filled the room with its sweet melody startling Isa and causing her to drop her scanner. “I thought I told you to turn that stupid phone off!” She shouted at me while bending down to pick it up. “Either answer it or I will break it.”

Raising an eyebrow I mumble “well then…” before taking my phone out of my back pocket; only one person would be calling me right now one very overprotective person, I flipped open the phone and said in my most casual voice “Heeyy mom what’s up how you doin?” I knew exactly what she was going to say and boy it wouldn’t be pretty.

“Don’t hey mom what’s up me young lady, you and your father both have been dodging my calls since you two bolted out the door at 8, it is now 10:45 and I’m now just hearing from you do you know how worried I am having you and your father hunting in the middle of the night doing god knows what putting yourselves in danger?” god you can practically see the smoking anger in her voice, I had to hold the phone at arm’s length just to keep my ears from bleeding, I can hear Isa laughing quietly in the back ground from my mom’s sudden outburst.

All I could do was roll my eyes she was always doing this overprotective parent thing and it was driving me nuts. “Mom calm down dad and I just got a last minute gig its fine and won’t take long trust me Gabriel knows where I am and if I get in trouble he will come ok?” maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned Gabriel… “Gabriel!? So he knows where you are but your own mother doesn’t!” yea shouldn’t have mentioned him. “You know very well what I think of that man child. He is immature, reckless, a nuisance, and most of all irresponsible!” my mom as you can tell doesn’t like Gabriel for some unknown reason… who am I kidding sometimes I don’t even like him.

“God mom don’t do this now please I’m working.” I pleaded but she continued. “And another thing young lady you have school tomorrow, and from what Isa has told me you also have an important exam tomorrow in 3rd period. How are you ever going to pass that test if you’re HALF ASLEEP?” I looked over at Isa who was just sitting there laughing at me, I gave her my your dead when I’m done with this look and replied to my mom.

“I’ll be fine mom it’s a simple hunt don’t stress.” Another taboo word stress… crap today is just not my day. “Don’t stress?! Don’t stress?! How can I not stress when my daughter could be killed!” this is so not going to end well and I knew it. “Mom I’m not a kid anymore I‘m 17 now. Stop treating me like a child! I can take care of myself I’m a hunter mom and nothing is going to change that it’s a part of me.” I hate fighting with her but sometimes it’s necessary and I was mad, Luckily Isa’s scanner went off so I couldn’t yell at her anymore.

“Mom I got to go Isa found something and I have a ghost to catch.” After I hung up I looked at Isa. “What did you find?” I said bitterly, she gave me half annoyed half pity look. “Well sorry to disappoint you but it was just a scan goof… do you wanna crash at my place tonight?” leave it to Isa to always have a way out for me that’s one of the reasons why I love my cousin. “It’s ok and yea that sounds awesome.”

I looked away from her and started fiddling with my ghost scanner. “You know Coda she will come around eventually, you know that right?” I looked at her for a minute unable to answer. “I don’t think she ever will…” I said honestly.

Then something big crashed through the living room window causing Isa and I both to jump into hunter mode. A deep and low growl echoed through the barren room that growl I was all too familiar the beast has been hunting Isa since birth, but every time My dad and Sam were here and fought it off but now we are unprotected and no way was I going to let that thing hurt Isa.

Instinct took over and the hell hound jumped at Isa at the same time I did only I was closer, I shoved Isa and she fell to the floor and I took her place, the hound’s claws ripped through the my right side of my stomach like a chain saw. Agonizing pain rushed through me as I crumbled to the floor clutching my wound crying and screaming at the same time, everything was becoming blurry and the only thing I could hear was the rapid drumming of my heart in my ears. The drumming became weaker as I felt myself become drowned in darkness, the last thing I heard was a muffled gun shot.

Sans seemed to approve of this sentiment, grinning at Goop and winking with his left eye. “ain’t he cool?”

Approval of Papyrus went a long way with this Sans.

...he really was just a regular Sans, all things considered.

“eh, well, you could say it’s a good pace for me.”

“The coolest.” Goop grinned.

“That all?” He asked, “I’d think just being a regular sentry and letting Pap do all the traps would be more up your alley.”

--

“nah,” he said, “this way is easier,” he grinned a little wider.

He had a lot more control over traps, this way.

He had a lot more control over what any human or intruder who came through would have to face, with only the work it would take to set it up.

And since time did move on slightly? He could just do a little bit the first day and build up little by little.

“Huh.” Goop looked at Kid, unsure how to get any deeper answer out of Sans, if there even was one. He turned back to Sans.

“So the King is catching anyone who falls down, I guess? You ever see him?”

--

Kid wasn’t sure either, and… he was more hesitant to pry, lately, he realized.

Besides.

….people trusted Goop more.

He was easy to trust.

Sans’ face darkened a little, though, and he shook his head.

“nah, never seen ‘im. don’t got the stomach for it, ya know? but yeah, we’re all just waitin’ to see if he comes out again.”

Goop looked in the direction of the ruins, staring that way for a few lingering moments before turning back to Sans. “... How many years has it been since he went in?”

--

Sans shrugged.

“ya ask a complicated question for a guy spat out of a timeline, y’know?”

Grinned.

--

Goop made a face, but relented. “Fine, fine.”

As long as there we no humans, no resets… as long as Sans and Papyrus were safe. Everything was fine.

--

Sans huffed out a little laugh.

“anything else? or it’s probably time to get goin’.”

--

Goop glanced at Kid, then shook his head. “I don’t think so. Just wanted to make sure you ‘n Pap were safe. He doing alright out in that post all by himself?”

--

Sans raised one of his browbones.

“course he is. some reason he shouldn’t be?”

Alert.

--

“No.” Goop smiled, trying to be encouraging. “Just like I said, seems strange Papyrus would want to be alone out there. At least for me.”

--

Sans gave him a wary look again, all the same. “Paps’ got people looking out for him.”

It was kind of an ambiguous statement, but it was still true. Sans had always been social and good at making friends, Papyrus a bit less so, and more easily overwhelmed.

But since Sans was in tight with the guard? It was no problem for Doggo or Dogamy and Dogressa to pop over every now and then between Sans’ visits to his brother and make sure he was doing alright and not too lonely or bored.

Goop nodded, “Alright. Just wanted to make sure.”

He wanted to see it for himself too, slowly shifting off towards deeper into the forest where he knew what would have been Sans’ post was. “I promise I won’t break anymore traps.”

--

“heh,” Sans said. “i’ll keep an eye out anyway. just for you.”

He winked.

Then, he walked off.

Kid looked at Goop once Sans was gone, following along.

“...well.”

--

“I’m no wiser to anything.” Goop mumbled a bit, sounding disappointed.

--

Kid let out a short laugh.

“Yeah, well, talking with Sans is like that sometimes.”

--

“Only sometimes?” Goop laughed too.

--

“Most of the time,” Kid said. “Clearly, we didn’t frustrate him enough to get a straight answer out of him. Should’ve flashed the wedding ring.”

--

“You think that would’ve done it?” He asked.

--

“Well, at the very least we’d have got a startled blink or two.”

The woods were starting the thicken as they moved along the path.

--

“Maybe even a ‘huh’.” Goop grinned.

“... I guess I should get a ring for me too. And an actual wedding ring for you.” His grin widened, still a little in disbelief that they were actually doing this.

--

Kid couldn’t really believe it either, but…

But he was looking forward to it.

It was somehow a lot more real, more tangible than the idea of the hunt for the anomaly coming to an end.

It was something they could really look forward to…?

Something to look forward to.

“Yeah, we should. Matching ones?”

--

“Yeah.” He paused and looked down at Kid. “You should pick them this time. I picked the engagement ring.”

Goop wondered if Kid would go for something that had meaning, sort of like he had done with the engagement ring, or something as ridiculous and gaudy as possible.

He would be fine with either.

--

Kid huffed, but nodded.

“Yeah, sure, I’ll do that once we get another breather I guess.”

Something ridiculous and gaudy never entered his mind.

In the distance, the shape of a tilted guard stand could be made out, two figures by it.

“Anything in-...” Goop trailed off, squinting at the two figures as they approached.

One of the dogs, maybe? … But they had passed all the ones he knew of.

Maybe Sans taking a shortcut. It stood to reason he wouldn’t want them to spy on Papyrus alone.

--

Neither of the distant figures seemed to have noticed them, yet, but the closer they got, the more clear they became.

One was obviously Papyrus--tall, and lanky, and wearing his period-appropriate armor, even though he was not trying to raise up rank in the royal guard.

The smaller figure they��d assumed to be Sans, though, was… too small.

Kid started to slow, hesitant.

He reached out to sense what was going on in front of them instead of relying on his eyes.

--

Goop didn’t have the ability to sense or feel, not really anyway. He could feel magic, but that was about the end of it. So as Kid started to slow, Goop did the opposite.

It was too small to be Sans.

His pace quickened.

--

Kid saw him speed up.

“Goop, no!”

The two figures heard, straightening up and turning to look. Two bright red eyes opening wide in shock.

Chara.

--

Kid’s words turned to static inside Goop’s head and the world fell away from him, everything tunneling onto the child’s face.

The red eyes. The rosy cheeks.

It didn’t need to be smiling for him to project his greatest fears and his biggest enemy onto the child.

His magic exploded into action.

Goop summoned his long, sharp attack and teleported beside Chara.

Papyrus was not a royal guard.

Not in this world.

...But he was still Sans’ brother, and he knew how to react when sparring with a teleporter.

A long, thick bone collided alongside Goop’s attack, forcing his arm up so Papyrus’ other hand could thrust a second bone construct at Goop’s throat.

But it didn't connect.

Just barely in front of it, at what would be a perfectly safe distance for most monsters.

“HALT!” Papyrus said. “YOU COULD’VE HURT SOMEONE!”

Chara had fallen into the snow, scrambling back against Papyrus’ sentry post and breathing rapidly.

--

Goop didn’t move his eyes away from Chara, body rippling with a mix of anger and fear.

His arm shook, fighting against so many things going through his mind at that moment. Trying to register Chara’s fear on something he considered almost fearless, the lack of a twisted smile, his son’s voice telling him to stop.

He didn’t dare look away from Chara, but he didn’t move to attack further either, didn’t dissipate his magic still held high.

“Goop!”

Kid raced beside him, grabbing Goop’s wrists, magic scooping up his soul.

“I'm so sorry, are you--”

Kid could see souls.

He recognized this one.

He recognized a Chara he once adored.

--

To Goop all Charas were the same. They were human. They wore the same smile.

… He hadn’t hated the Chara of his original timeline. He actually hadn’t cared much about them at all, although he held an immense distrust of them simply because they were human, which only solidified once he found out what happened to Chara and the prince.

He had fought something that had once been Chara too much. Too long. He couldn’t differentiate anymore.

Goop didn’t resist as Kid pulled at his wrists, although his form was much less solid than it usually was and gave under his friend’s hands. His soul was nearly vibrating with how intense his emotions were, everything about him buzzing and wanting to kill the small child staring up at them in fear.

His eyes didn’t move away, but his wrists moved where Kid lead them, his soul didn’t resist the hold on it.

“PLEASE PUT YOUR WEAPON AWAY,” Papyrus said, one bone still at Gaster’s neck, the other held at the ready to defend again.

Chara crawled behind him fully. Shaking. Hiding behind Papyrus’ boots.

“Goop,” Kid hissed again. “We should go. Yeah?”

“WHO ARE YOU??”

PUT YOUR WEAPON AWAY. WHO ARE YOU?

We should go.

The voices were fuzzy and distant, but they were there, and the hold on his soul helped pull him in just enough for him to actually move.

He didn’t put his weapon away, but he did grab onto Kid and take one large step back, pulling him close and quickly teleporting them both back to the classroom just outside the closet door they had hid their machine inside.

--

Kid only relaxed once they were in the classroom, letting go of Goop’s wrists and moving closer to hug him tightly. Instinct, from an old life. Instinct to pull two souls closer together.

“Goop?”

--

Goop dissipated his attack as soon as Kid wrapped his arms around him, some of his form falling away as he shook in his friend’s arms and hunkered down closer to him. What remained of his arms wrapped around Kid, pained and terrified gasps coming out of him from somewhere.

Terrified.

--

“Goop? Goop, it's okay. Goop, that wasn't them. It's okay.”

Held him.

Melted slowly towards the floor with him.

--

Goop nodded, but couldn’t formulate any words. If it had been it, it wouldn’t have been so terrified. Kid wouldn’t have stopped him from killing it.

Even so, it had been their face.

He held onto Kid for a few long, long minutes in panic before he could manage to say anything again.

“S-... Sorry. Sorry.” Goop mumbled out, clutching at Kid and pressing his face into his shoulder.

He had just been so scared.

“It's okay,” Kid kept repeating. “You're okay. It's okay.”

Held him tight, even if Goop couldn't feel it.

“You're safe now.”

--

He stayed like that for a bit longer, breathing even though he didn’t need to and only then beginning to start pulling his face and arms into something less viscous.

“Y-Yeah…”

Safe.

He was safe.

His eye was distant and fuzzy, but he finally looked up just to stare at Kid’s face because it was a living (kinda) object that moved and that brought him more comfort than just staring at the floor.

--

Now was not the time to morph his face into a pig’s snout, but he considered it. Just to get that terrible expression off Goop’s face.

So he tried to smile instead, even though smiling was the last thing he felt like doing.

“...want to stay here a bit? Or go inside the ship?”

Kid knew he personally always felt a little safer in the ship. There was the tablet. There was…

“We can check on your kids. Ask how they're doing.”

“Sh-Ship.” Goop said, beginning to let go of Kid and try to rise up even though he barely felt like he could form a base right now.

“Don’t want to talk to the kids like this.”

--

“Okay, we don't have to,” Kid said, trying to pick Goop up and help him into the ship. As long as Goop could keep his form together, he thought they would manage okay.

He opened the closet and ship door, helping Goop inside and closing it up again, finding their normal corner and sitting down in it with him.

--

He appreciated the help, sliding along beside Kid and then losing form a bit again once he crumpled beside his friend. Goop leaned into him heavily even though he couldn’t really feel it, shifting his soul closer and just… trying to calm himself down.

The inside of the ship was small and dark compared to outside, but it was familiar and did feel safe despite all of the shit they had gone through while inside it.

The ship had been something of a constant. Somewhere they could always return to in terrible world's. Something they could use to escape. It… It made sense that Kid also felt a lot safer inside it.

He held Goop and tried to think of something, anything, to talk about.

Get his mind off of what had just happened. Help him refocus elsewhere. Anything.

“..our…” He said, hesitating.

A part of him was screaming that he would fuck this all up and end up with Goop not liking him again, but Goop couldn't refocus as easily as literally anyone else, Kid couldn't just sit there in silence, it might as well have been like walking out of the room at this moment--

“Our… Our wedding… Do we just… Generic purple? Or,.. Use a specific tone  of one of our magics, or…? I've been trying to think of how it would work…”

--

Talking, a conversation, something in the future to think about, it was all Goop had. Everything else seemed so far away, so distant, that it might as well not have existed.

“... Is… is yours lighter or darker than mine? I c-can’t remember.”

Kid didn’t use it much and, honestly, Goop didn’t show his own much either outside of the basic attacks that every skeleton had.

“I think it's lighter,” Kid said softly, “a little closer to blue, maybe.”

--

Goop nodded, “Right… yeah I-... I remember we were talking about the colors of your souls not being set as deeply as ours or… something?”

He couldn’t remember.

He rubbed his head.

--

Kid nodded, encouraging. “Yeah, sometimes they blend a little. Not super common, but… But it's not unusual, either… We usually just say whatever color its closest to, but they're just… Not all the same shade, necessarily.”

--

Goop nodded, “Right. That.”

He took a deep breath, an old remembered motion from some old life that served little purpose now. Just something practiced, a placebo to try and calm him.

“... Maybe something in the middleground? Generic purple, maybe.”

--

Kid nodded. “...should we get flowers, too? Just to put around the place?”

--

Goop was quiet for a moment, longer than was probably needed before he spoke up again.

“... Yeah. I’ll ask Asgore what’ll go well with purple and… weddings.”

--

Kid nodded a little again, smile the faintest bit more real. “I think he'll be really excited when you tell him. Especially when you ask him to help.”

--

Goop smiled a little too, his lopsided and melted face twitching just a little happier.

“Yeah.”

…

“He’s a nice guy.”

He still hadn’t talked to him. He wasn’t sure he wanted to get too invested in a world that didn’t feel like his anymore.

“Maybe Toriel will make us a pie or something. Then there will at least be one edible thing there.”

It was his world, the same way an adopted parent was still a parent.

It wasn't fair Goop had to feel like he didn't have a home, or that the machine was the best place.

It was one thing to feel disconnected from your world, but it was another to feel like you couldn't get attached at all.

“That'll be nice. Think she'll like you better in formalwear?” He grinned.

Goop glanced at him with a tired, sagging eye. “But I’m always in formalwear.”

--

“No, you're always naked.”

--

Goop stared at him for a moment, then gave a tiny laugh. “True. Very true.”

--

“Narcissist,” Kid added affectionately, grinning still.

“Feeling better?”

--

“Nudist.” Goop added too, then took another breath and smiled a little more. “Yeah. Thanks.”

He sunk a little further to rest his head on Kid’s shoulder.

--

“Anything for my favorite nude narcissist, besides myself,” he said, letting Goop rest.

--

He didn’t bother to form any further, letting himself look melty and uneven for once. It was nice to know that it didn’t bother Kid, that even seeing him as nothing more than a puddle or a little soul peering out from the void bothered him. Those were things he never wanted to show anyone else, not even his kids.

It was all too unsettling to them.

“... Sans said the princes were dead, didn’t he?”

A little worried about the turn to what had caused this whole mess, Kid nodded.

“...yeah. I assumed that's why Mr. Dreemurr left…”

--

“... If they’re dead, then why was the kid alive?” He looked at Kid, confused.

--

Kid didn't know.

He shook his head, confused. But…

“..we… Never asked if the prince was Chara…”

--

Goop’s eye widened a little. “... It’s always been--”

And Papyrus was always wanting to be a royal guard, and Alphys the scientist, Undyne the captain.

“... I guess they’re the other kid in this world.”

--

They'd almost attacked an innocent kid in front of their son.

“...I guess,” was all Kid said.

...did that mean Chara wasn't always the face of danger? Or that weren't always adored and cares for? Or that…

...he didn't want to think about this anymore.

“...hey,” he said softly. “If everyone's all mixed up, who's Seer?”

Goop wanted to keep thinking about it, wanted to pick it all apart and understand what the hell was going on now that he was calmer but… but he knew when Kid was trying to redirect the conversation.

And that was okay. He wouldn’t make him talk about it if he didn’t want.

“Seer is still Seer or Seer just… disguised as someone or something else, I bet.”

Goop--understandably--saw Chara as a figure of terror. A demon. A curse. An anomaly.

But seeing their face again--

Kidster was a very, very different person from what he has once been, but he didn't think he would ever be able to shake the injured, flighty human who’d enchanted them all from his heart.

He would…

He'd fight Chara for Goop.

He'd fight Chara, and he would let Goop end it.

He could do that, now.

But he'd never fully shake how it has all played out, once upon a time.

“Yeah, but you think they'll look weird? What if they're a moldsmol or something?”

“Then I would laugh my non-existent ass off.” Goop snorted as best he could. “I’m not sure how we could find them though. Seer only ever shows up if they want to be found.”

--

Worth Every Penny Hello all, I have had this product for a few months now, waited a bit before writing a review so I would be able to write a proper one.

There is so much to say about this little vacuum. Beginning with ease of use. It is very easy to use you can either schedule days and the time you would like it to clean or just hit the big clean button to activate it. It also comes with a remote that you can basically make it into a remote control vacuum and control it room to room so you dont have to get up to move it.

It transitions from carpet to tile to wood to without issues. It is cleans very well, but here is the thing about that. If you give it free roam of the house it will miss spots. You must block of the rooms with either the virtual walls (one set is provided with the unit it self, virtual walls create a what the name is exactly a virtual wall that will not allow the vacuum to pass.) or you can do what I do and use pillows to block rooms off. Yes, pillows sound silly but it touchs the pillows so light that it doesnt move them.

I have a 2-story 2500 square foot house, and this machine lives under my couch where it is docked (hidden from view), and it is programmed to clean every other day. It does the whole downstairs in about 2 hours and then returns to its docking station. All I have to do is empty the bin in between cycles, at my convenience. I also carry it upstairs and set it free up there whenever I need to. It has made a world of difference in keeping up with the daily fur deposits from my large dog and two indoor cats. I have mostly hardwood floors, with some large/thick wool carpets, and this vacuum easily moves throughout the house with no problems. Worth Every Penny Hello all, I have had this product for a few months now, waited a bit before writing a review so I would be able to write a proper one.

There is so much to say about this little vacuum. Beginning with ease of use. It is very easy to use you can either schedule days and the time you would like it to clean or just hit the big clean button to activate it. It also comes with a remote that you can basically make it into a remote control vacuum and control it room to room so you dont have to get up to move it.

It transitions from carpet to tile to wood to without issues. It is cleans very well, but here is the thing about that. If you give it free roam of the house it will miss spots. You must block of the rooms with either the virtual walls (one set is provided with the unit it self, virtual walls create a what the name is exactly a virtual wall that will not allow the vacuum to pass.) or you can do what I do and use pillows to block rooms off. Yes, pillows sound silly but it touchs the pillows so light that it doesnt move them.

When the device is finished it docks it self back to its station to charge until you tell it to go back and clean again. It takes awhile to charge but it also has about a 3 hour life when vacuuming.Read More At Amazon.com…

This is my second Roomba vacuum, and it is a veritable masterpiece. It seems that all of my criticisms of previous robotic vacuums have been rectified in this version..longer battery life, larger dirt bin, programmability, and brushes that are easier to keep clean. I am enjoying my 5th week of trouble-free cleaning and a life finally free of pet fur, and Im beside myself with joy. I have a 2-story 2500 square foot house, and this machine lives under my couch where it is docked (hidden from view), and it is programmed to clean every other day. It does the whole downstairs in about 2 hours and then returns to its docking station. All I have to do is empty the bin in between cycles, at my convenience. I also carry it upstairs and set it free up there whenever I need to. It has made a world of difference in keeping up with the daily fur deposits from my large dog and two indoor cats. I have mostly hardwood floors, with some large/thick wool carpets, and this vacuum easily moves throughout the house with no problems. As for this little guy I was very skeptical and did a lot of research before deciding on it with a heavy heart. I have a Large dog and a cat, both unbelievable shedders and both scared to death of the vacuum cleaner, so my hardwood and tile floors are under a constant carpet of fur. Ive read reviews about the roomba bumping hard into furniture and pets so I was a bit worried. However, in my experience this is absolutely wrong. It makes so much less noise than the regular vacuum cleaner that my dog doesnt mind it at all and the cat merely gets on a chair and tries to kill it by staring. The furniture is fine.
