how do u feel about people shipping alters in moon knight? ik it’s become quite popular, but what are ur feelings about it? just curious, not hating on it, im supportive of all ships and just want to hear ur thoughts!

So. When I first got into MK comics a while ago I did a lot of research into DID and it's cousin OSDD and the general consensus was that every alter is their own complete person. Obviously there's a bunch of nuance there, on the psychological side, and since they're essentially different parts of the same consciousness, and also since the goal of a lot of people who go to therapy for DID is to kind of merge all their alters eventually (there's a different term for it that escapes me atm, I think it's considered more like fusing? Idk I'm not an expert) but generally, particularly as they exist in MK, they are completely separate individuals.

Basically I have zero problems with it. Marc and Steven (and Jake!) are different people that just so happen to share a body, in a sense, so while the logistics get tricky I say go live your wildest dreams lol. Not really my thing, necessarily, but I can totally see the appeal.

niki was watching you in his seat from afar, leaning back. you got up to get more napkins at the cafe you were at, but got held up by someone niki didn’t recognize.

niki couldn’t hear what was happening, but he frowned as you crossed your arms and glared up at the girl who was getting more and more in your face.

he furrowed his brows, debating whether he should get up. he didn’t like that look on your face, and he especially didn’t like how the girl was starting to raise her voice louder and louder, but he knew you could take care of these things yourself. you were a tough one, but that also meant sometimes ‘taking care of things yourself’ your way involved getting yourself hurt, or into trouble, and he didn’t want that to happen.

niki never wanted anything bad to happen to you. so when a man got up to stand next to the girl and join in, shouting at you, he flew out of his seat.

“hey, what’s the problem?” niki came up behind you and wrapped his hand around the back of your neck, squeezing it in reassurance, but also so he could get a good grip and move you out of the way if things got worse.

“she was drooling over my boyfriend.” the girl spat at him.

“she was drooling over my boyfriend.” the girl spat at him.

“your girlfriend was looking at me like she wanted me,” the boy added. “and not at you.”

at this point, you weren’t actually niki’s girlfriend, although he really wished you were— he didn’t want you being more uncomfortable than you already were and started to correct you. honestly, he stuttered a bit, because hearing you being referred to as his girlfriend gave him butterflies. “o— oh, sh—“

you brought one of your hands back to his chest, stopping him from speaking any further.

niki widened his eyes for two reasons— one, because you didn’t seem to have a problem that they thought you were his girlfriend, and two, because you rolled your eyes, and shouted, “i literally. wasn’t. looking at him.” he felt you shaking under his fingers. “why would i want to look at your ugly boyfriend over him,” you gestured to niki.

he didn’t have time to think about how that comment effected him because it all happened so fast— the millisecond the guy took a step forward, he pulled you back by the neck, grabbed your hand and held you somewhat behind him, grabbing the finger the man was going to point in your face with in his other hand.

“hey!” the man shouted. “your girl needs to watch her fucking mouth,” he yanked his finger out of niki’s grip.

“please, this guy’s not her boyfriend,” the girl laughed. “she’s never had a boyfriend. she flirts with everyone like a slut, but nobody actually wants her or cares about her. i told you about her, remember? the one one who got rejected by jungwon. she was trying sooo hard, and it was so obvious he thought she was weird.”

her comments got to you, and niki could tell. he knew you got rejected— he was there to comfort you after it happened. but he had no idea you’ve never had a boyfriend.

you started pulling at niki’s hand, feeling like you had been exposed, wanting nothing more than to run away and never come back here again, but niki held you tighter.

“she is my girlfriend.” he declared, heart beating out of his chest as he stared the guy down— niki was easily much taller than him. “and you’re lucky i care about her more than i care about beating you up right now.”

“niki,” you tried pulling him back, not wanting him to actually beat someone up, although that would be satisfying to see and kinda hot.

“and she doesn’t flirt with everyone, you just don’t understand what being nice is.” your heart swelled at how he was defending you.

“no way, you wouldn’t date her,” the girl scoffed in disbelief. even though the girl thought you were a loser, she couldn’t deny that niki was tall, handsome, talented, and basically everything that a cool boyfriend was. “she’s a loser.”

“she’s amazing,” niki fired back immediately. “she’s nice to everyone she meets, she always makes me laugh, she’s smarter than anyone i know, and she’s beautiful. she’s the most beautiful person i’ve ever seen. and jungwon’s an idiot for rejecting her because she’s got to be the best girlfriend and best friend anyone could ask for. she’s always cheering me on and looking out for me and having fun with me. she makes every day better. i don’t care what people think. i would date her. i would date her over and over,” he declared, and he meant it. he meant every word of what he said and everyone could hear it in his voice.

“niki,” you sniffled, eyes welling up with tears. you had no idea he thought these things about you.

niki finally turned around as soon as he heard you sniffle. he melted as soon as he saw your tear stained cheeks and forgot all about those people, pulling you closer and bringing his palm up to your cheek, wiping your tears away. “hey, don’t cry…”

“do you mean it?” you whispered, so only he could hear.

“of course i mean it,” he whispered fiercely, staring into your eyes.

“ugh, you’re kidding me!” the girl shouted.

you giggled as you heard her drag her boyfriend away, and niki giggled too— that boxy smile that went all the way up to his eyes that you adored.

you caught him staring at your lips as your giggles died down. you knew that you were in public, but you didn’t care. you closed the distance between you and kissed him.

niki made a small humming noise, moving his hand to cup your jaw and deepen the kiss.

“HEY! NO PDA!” the cafe staff shouted.

you laughed as you pulled away. “oh, now they want to intervene!”

OKAY SO IM KINDA NOT IN W GREAT MOOD RN SO IM GONNA RANT ABOUT THE JEKYLL AND HYDE MUSICAL since none of my irl pals are gonna listen you guys have to

SO POINT ONE

-the whole plot hinges around the core idea that Henry himself is a man with good intentions who goes too far, and that he was warned to stop but he doesn’t and his own hubris and desire to have scientific recognition pushes him to extremes, and in turn-his and many other’s deaths.

—> that’s bullshit however, considering in the 1997 musical sound track (the most recent one i can get my hands on) there are more songs convincing Henry that he should carry on than their are dissuading him (considering they cut board of governors). allow me to list examples and why it’s stupid that he’s a man who was dissuaded but chose to walk a danger game path anyways.

—> firstly, his best friend Gabriel John Utterson, deeply trusted and level headed with a good moral compass “Henry you have come too far, remember what you have a stake” and “you’ve got to see it through” both stated in a song called “pursue the truth”. this song is heavily pivotal as it inspires Henry to continue when he wouldn’t have otherwise due to pressure from the board of governors of st jude’s hospital. In this song he was not told that going forward would be dangerous, John likely knew exactly what Henry was doing but wholeheartedly encouraged him, Henry trusted his judgement. He was not dissuaded.

—>Emma and Lisa, for the sake of coherency I’ll be referring to her as Emma as i’ll be using the newer soundtrack for this discussion. His wife to be, who he’s supposedly madly in live with; spends all of “i must go on” encouraging his pursuit of science, encouraging him to carry on his work. In lines like “when this all began, we knew there’d be a price to pay”, “too late to turn away”, reinforcing the idea in Henry’s mind that this is the best way forward- who cares about stuffy governors when those dear and near to him have expressed clear support of his work.

—>You could hypothetically argue that neither John nor Emma truly knew the extent to which Henry was going with his experiments, not truly understanding what he wanted to or was trying to achieve. However, if that was the intention the writers should’ve made that more overt considering later in the play they heavily emphasise the theme and idea that Henry has, quote “gone too far”, a phrase repeatedly used. Instead they lead the audience also view this as an honourable goal, due to the growing support of Henry and the audiences like of the characters at this point in the play.

Through the removal of Lanyon, the central conflict and core flaw of Henry Jekyll as a character has been removed, if he has no close friend to strongly and brutally disagree with him, it was no long *his* flaw that he carried on, it was no longer his fault, as the blame could be feasibly shared between him and those who encouraged him, shifting the play and narrative from a criticism of society in that extremism whether it be for or against change leads to a poor outcome, to being a story about how a well intentioned yet flawed scientist was misguided by his passion and loved ones, and payed the price.

-(next point because i’ve argued long enough about that.) was Henry Jekyll really as well intentioned as the play attempts to convey?

—>(Short answer, no. Long answer, potentially). Henry’s morality is heavily debatable, with it being dependant on the rendition of the play you watched, for the sake of the cohesion of the argument i’m going to be basing this entirely off of what i’ve seen of the 1997 and the 1995 plays.

—> firstly let’s discuss what the writers intended, or at least my perspective on what they were aiming to convey. within the opening scenes, we are greeted with Henry and his unnamed(?) father who is stuck in a mental asylum for reasons we as an audience are not privy to, Henry sings “lost in the darkness” a song establishing his motivations and goals as a character. I believe that the intention here was to give the viewer the impression that Henry as a character and person is moral and good, becoming misguided in his efforts to achieve his goals and save his father, eventually sacrificing himself for the sake of the safety of society, once the monster of his own well intentioned creation consumes him. So as a character it could be argued that he is moral. However i what the writers intended and what they conveyed are hugely different.

—> Due to the placement of Henry’s motivation being at the beginning of the play, the intention was likely to hook the audience into liking him as a character, forcing them to see how well intentioned he is before exploring his flaws and then eventually having him sacrifice himself to show his respectable morality as a character. However, by closely following this with “board of governors” (and the 1997 equivalent assumedly) we are hit with the whiplash of what was presented as a good person, and the man who argues with the board. Due to how bitter and cruelly he acts in a futile attempt to gain funding(?) and support for his project, the audience may rightfully assume that his kindness was a facade (especially since facades and the duality of man are central themes) and that Henry’s true colours are shown within this situation. If the writers truly intended to establish his perfect morality, they should have had Henry visit his father, and “lost in the darkness” take place after Henry is refused by the governors, so that his rage and refusal to take no for an answer is a shown to be a result of his stress and care for his father- not his questionable morality. This is because the audience will retain things that happen later in the play best, using them to form their impressions, so by shifting the placement of this scene it shifts the presentation of the character as a whole. But that is not what we are here to discuss.

—> Henry and Lucy. Another instance of Henry’s good morality working against him, as despite entering with the intention to find a test subject- he leaves having given Lucy his business card(?) and offering her support due to her situation. This eventually leads to her death, but it is another instance of his good morality, there were no strings attached to this aid, as Henry was a soon to be married man, and there is no implications that he finds her attractive (if you are to follow the play’s implications that Jekyll and Hyde are truly separate beings). So clearly you could argue that his morality is good, right?

—> Hyde. From a scientific standpoint, matter cannot be created or destroyed, going from that perspective, Hyde’s intentions cannot have just appeared-they had to be fuelled by Jekyll’s innermost desires and thoughts, especially since Hyde goes after those who have wronged Henry during “murder murder”. So the murderous impulses, the sketchy behaviour and outright illegal behaviour towards Lucy came from Jekyll. However this doesn’t make Henry an immoral character.

—> Humour me for a moment while i discuss the concept of the id. So freud (yes that freud) had a theory that stated that humans were comprised of three parts that all worked together, the id the ego and the super ego. The id was your animalistic urges and desires, your superego is societal expectations for the most part, acting as your selflessness. With the ego balancing the two; preventing you from donating all of your money to charity and putting you on the streets, and preventing you from going on a murder spree, killing the upper class. Within the original novel, Hyde is implied to be without the ego or superego, merely the embodiment of Jekyll’s id. So now comes the debate, is a person immoral for having immoral desires, if unacted upon?

—>Therein lies the conflict, as whether or not immoral desires mean an immoral person or character. Personally i believe no, the average person will have immoral thoughts from time to time, the true evil comes from how such desires are dealt with. So while Hyde is evil, despite being based upon Jekyll, you cannot state that that makes Henry evil in turn. Paired with the potential that Hyde is a twisted version of Jekyll’s own desires (for example Henry wants revenge against the governors-Hyde interprets that as murder, whilst Jekyll implies showing them that he was right).

kind of the point of this whole debate is typically that "proship" folks insist that fiction, or in this case "porn of cartoon characters that happen to be kids" as you put it, has no effect on reality or people's mindsets. and so-called "antis" like myself generally respond to this idea with something along the lines of "well it sure seems to affect the reality of your cock and balls", and point out how repeatedly consuming media with a particular focus or message has been shown time and time again to quantifiably influence the way people view the world around them, in ways that subsequently affect how they act, or desensitize them to things that might otherwise upset/offend them. y'know, like political propaganda! or blockbuster movies about killer sharks! obviously some people are going to be more resilient against that sort of influence when the real-world equivalent of "porn of cartoon characters that happen to be kids" is something so blatantly unacceptable, and nobody is really claiming that the impact of fictional CP is "on the same level" as its IRL counterpart.

and Tumblr is a US-based company, beholden to the laws shown above, so they are at least somewhat responsible when illustrated pedophilic incest porn gets shown to thousands of their mobile app users in an ad they got paid to display. you had arrived home after a long and exhausting day a few hours ago. you decided today was the day you’ll do some self-care since you haven’t had the time to for the past few weeks and you felt like you needed to disconnect from your busy and stressful night.

so after showering, having a simple dinner, and putting on masks, you found yourself laying on the couch, with a glass of wine in one hand and a book you’ve been meaning to read for the past month in the other.

there was jazz playing in the background and the lights were dim, attributing to the calming ambiance you needed.

it was almost 10 pm when you heard the door of your apartment, you didn’t even attempt to look up from the pages of the book in your hand, the page you were reading being too interesting to tear your eyes from it and also, you were sure that the person who just walked in was your boyfriend.

you heard him drop his keys on the plate that was placed on top of the little table you had next to the front door and heard his shoes being mindlessly thrown on the floor.

he walked into the living room and spotted you laying on the couch and smiled to himself, you looked so comfy and cuddly that he couldn’t stop himself from walking up to you, taking your wine glass out of your hand, placing it in the coffee table and laying his entire body on top of yours.

Raph would probably be one of the ones that doesn't notice this until someone else points it out. I also think he could also be the one to see it first. It just depends

Raph would be so honored that you looked up to them, he'd notice you following them and would go out of his way to offer you a smile before they'd go back to the lair

One day you leave your notebook alone after an encounter and he notices you dropped it

He wouldn't go through it surprisingly

One of his brothers would get to it first and would go through it, meaning he'd had to try and get them to stop invading privacy

Once he gets a glance, however, he feels so touched at the drawing you did and the detailed notes you've written down

He may not be the best at understanding complicated notes, but he knew how much thought and accuracy went into writing them down

Raph would try his best to return the notebook to you the next time they went out to fight bad guys

When he does return it, he places his hand on your head and ruffles your hair (if you don't have very long hair [shaved or buzzed] or if you have no hair at all, he'd give you a head pat)

He'd encourage you to ask them anything if you had questions, but would lightly scold you about being out and about at night by yourself

As long as you were safe about it, you may have just found yourself a new friend AND a kind of parental figure

He'd be a little worries about you being alone in New York by yourself given how you look to be around 12 or so

Eventually, they all had noticed and tried to confront you about it since they were rather curious

The pressure of talking to the turtles you looked up to had to a little nervous and you took off before they could talk to you

You did, however leave your notebook behind

Mikey looked through the different notes and flipped until he saw the drawing

He thought it was the cutest thing ever! He loved drawing and art related things himself, so he was really excited to see that you liked to draw as well!

When he finally saw you again, he handed you the notebook and offered to lend you some art materials or to sometime draw with him

It would take time to get him to invite you to the lair, but it would eventually become a very frequent thing

so morros role in the gang is he like collects intel n shit, scouts and/or recruits new members, makes plans and gives orders from the boss (preeminent) so hes sorta like the preeminents ambassador. general?? right hand man?? number 2?? something. occasionally he participates in very low key crimes where his face and identity could be hidden. never does anything big and flashy, so hes the least likely to get caught and thats one of the reasons hes so high up. the boss usually has a business to cover for the gang so the preeminent has a bar or a nightclub or something where they allow you to cover your face and morro works there to be like,, closer so its easy to recieve orders/info or something yk. when asked he says hes small for his age with a VERY obvious undertone and they leave it at that, cause so what if the nightclub is a little sketchy, goddamn this kid whips out drinks faster than anyone. hes very in the shadows undercover and thats why they couldnt catch him/had no evidence he was high ranking (i need a gang name help should it just be cursed realm?? cursed spirits maybe)

IF we want morro to just have general shenanigans with the ninja then hes on parole. if you dont know what parole is basically they let you out after 2/3rds of your sentence to let you integrate back into society or something, but youre still under supervision. so the timeline is morro starts his criminal activity at 14, gets caught and arrested at 16 and then gets released at 17. if youre worried about the 3 years in the above post trust me the logic checks out

slim -6'9" -prideful & narcissistic. generally a bit of a showoff who boasts a LOT, usually trying to do his job as efficiently and effortlessly as possible -extremely controlling and aggressive. refuses to share any bit of power and control he can maintain with any other, and very often degrades and puts down others to have his way. also he's just generally kinda physically aggressive, like the car scene -deeply sadistic and looooves killing for fun, as well as the thrill of breaking rules & using force when he can; very easily gets caught up in the moment of fun. laughs and giggles a lot -enjoys being praised but tends to become overwhelmed when complimented by mass groups or when given in private by another. fluster-able

spike (i know everyone else says he's an incel but he is my precious baby girl) -6'5" -easily excited and has much higher energy than others. very friendly, upbeat, and a little bit oblivious -very playful and fun-loving (he literally squeals "whoo!" when he goes down the firefighter pole im in tears), as well as highly optimistic. he often tries to see the good in things and others; doesn't really process/recognize passive aggressiveness or even direct insults -doesn't often experience more negative/conflicting emotions but generally attempts to suppress them. is also very protective when it comes to those he cares for; however, very easily trusting anyways -moderately intelligent but comes off as less so due to naivety

rudy -6'5" -super low energy, as well as generally neutral and passive. would probably be a centralist unfortunately. goes with the flow for the most part and is pretty indifferent to everything -follows the rules religiously and has a deep fear of being punished. is a little bit cowardly and generally refuses to speak up for himself or his beliefs (i imagine he might be a little more confident in case of someone he cares about bit it's situational) -struggles with physical expression, and generally goes from a neutral (even depressed looking lol) look to being able to actually smile. often looks exhausted or uncomfortable -easily distracted tbh. will literally forget what he's supposed to be doing and become hyper focused on another mundane activity

shorty -5'0" -super chill and relaxed. doesn't really have complex emotions and is overall pretty simple; though, this does not mean he's stupid -no fears of authority or generally negative emotions of the sort. doesn't mind doing anything else other than his job. again, super carefree and relaxed -despite this more carefree nature of his he also does have some more immature and childish habits and behaviors. likes to play and mess around a lot, and may often seem and act innocent -will sometimes try and interact with humans beyond his job purposes for fun and or curiosity. might leave you alive if he's feeling a bit funny

Trigger warning for homophobia and hate. For your last ask….I also think there is a huge difference in where and when you grew up with how it comes to how you perceive these types of coded words. I grew up in the 80s and 90s in rural America when children in my elementary school played a playground game called “Smear the Queer” and said you would go to hell for being gay. I remember the death of Mathew Shepard at the hands of hateful people crying gay panic and being told if you were gay you would die from AIDS and that HIV was Gods punishment. I remember hearing the word queer and twink and faggot being said with hate and derision. I remember being told twink was short for “twinkee” because a twink was “young, dumb, and full of cum”. I remember a limp wrist gesture being a deadly insult to the boys in my school. It took me many many many years to even admit to myself I was gay. I still don’t talk about myself or my partner with the people I work with cause even now I just feel like you never know who is hateful. I can’t imagine someone openly yelling out a gay slur in the street anymore, but I can imagine not getting a promotion at work. I feel very disconnected from the current generation and their use of gay coded language which my whole childhood was used with such hurt. It’s like homophobia went from what I experienced in my youth of being open and in you face to being all these coded cutesy terms. It sure feels like all the same insinuations are all still there just coded differently. Or maybe I’m just old and out of touch and letting my experiences color how I see things now. It’s even hard for me today to accept the reclamation of the word queer by the lgbtq+ community so I know my experience color my perception of thing.

no i think ur absolutely right. its not that ur old and out of touch, i think its that the younger generation is naive and overly comfortable. i have not had an experience nearly as intense as you in my childhood but i think growing up in quite a heavily homophobic country like romania and then moving to the uk was still quite a big culture shock to me. i kind of had the idea as a teen that romania as a whole is a homophobic culture and the west just isn't to that level (mostly out of jealousy for the things i was seeing on the internet lmao) and that perception deffo changed since ive been living here. essentially what i realised was that (especially) men were almost as shitty to women and gay people in the uk as they were back home, just way more covertly, because they knew how to say all the right things. so the only consequence of this for me personally was just that in the uk i am more likely to be negatively surprised by someone who i thought was chill, whereas in romania i was more likely to b positively surprised by someone who seemed like theyd have a horrible reaction to me coming out. but as far as i can tell british people themselves dont clock this at all, and a lot of them will just assume that if theres no overt discrimination happening then theres no discrimination at all. which is kinda scary from my pov but again, like u, idk whether to feel like im just reacting to my own circumstances and projecting

2 - Does your character indulge often in the things they like?

Race: Oh yeah, all the time. He's a chronic gambler (much to the disdain of some of the newsies) we can't forget that! He's got hella good luck with it somehow, so he continues to do it. And, thanks to said good luck, he's able to go out and do some other things he enjoys outside of work! So yes, he does indulge himself quite often :D

Albert: Not really. He's not solid on what he even likes, it's not something he's ever really considered what it even is he likes, so he has no idea what to indulge in. His day is really just wake up -> sell papes -> eat -> sleep ; repeat. If he found something he enjoyed, though, he probably would indulge himself occasionally if he had the money!

Davey: Kinda often? He doesn't always have the time to go out and spend time with his friends, but he does when he can. Because fuck, man, who doesn't enjoy eating out at restaurants and going to movies with good friends??? He'd do it more often if he could, but work takes up a lot of time.

3 - What makes your character's skin crawl?

Race: It was the nuns that constantly came around that got on his nerves. He often tried to avoid interacting with them but they usually addressed him in the mornings when the younger newsies rushed to get their breakfast. They usually pestered him about his clothes ("Oh you look so lovely today! Where'd you get the new vest!", "What a lovely look on you!" etc etc) and it always came across as passive aggressive. Whether they meant it or not, it always just felt like they were poking at him for having the money to dress well but not get away from selling papers.

Albert: People snoring. He absolutely fucking DESPISES hearing people snore and loses a bit of his life during the winter in the lodging house, because he can't sleep outside to avoid it.

Davey: The complete ignorance of his parents. His mother forcing him and Jack to take over the care of his younger brother mildly ticked him off. He loves his brother! But the fact his parents just gave up on Les... He had a rocky relationship with his parents since he left for college.

8 - Is there something your character deeply regrets from their past?

Race: Running away from home, and then running away from Brooklyn. He often wonders how his parents are doing but he never had the will to go back and see them again. (He's terrified of the idea of going home and them not being there, or them not recognizing him).

Albert: Not in particular!

Davey: A lot. There's a lot he regrets he refuses to go into detail about. It's why his relationship with his parents is so rocky and why he practically hovers over Les once his brother is in his care.

14 - Who would your character never betray?

Race: Any of the newsies. Nothing in him could ever get him to turn on his friends and family. He'd go down fighting tooth and nail for them

Albert: Race and Finch.

Davey: Sarah. He could never turn his back on Sarah, not after everything she's done for him. He owes her the world.

15 - Who does your character look up to and who do they despise?

Race: He doesn't look up to anyone around him in particular. He kinda emulates Jack to a degree, but he's not Race's role model. If anything... he looks up to the memory of his mother. The way she cared for him and held him when he was sad or sick. Her warm smiles her gentle hugs... he held those memories dear and tried to bring those soft moments and comforting reminders of being cared for to the younger newsies who came to the lodge. He despises Spot. As much as he misses being in Brooklyn, he hates her. He refuses to ever tell anyone what happened, often changing the subject to something fun to distract whoever was asking.

Albert: Jack and his oldest brother. He aspires to be like both of them when it comes to leadership and confidence. He absolutely despises the Delanceys. If he could just straight up beat the everliving shit out of them he would. It is a VISCERAL hatred and he is often held back from going off by other newsies. So, instead, he just tries to explode them with his mind 99% of the time.

Davey: He doesn't really look up to anyone either, but he also isn't one to hate. He experiences quite strong emotions but not enough to feel so strongly about anyone.

Also, in case you haven't noticed, a lot of these things kinda line up to hm...make them more likely to be abusive to people? Huh, its almost like thats a key feature in cluster b personality disorders. and its almost like sociopathy and psychopathy are disorders that make people outside of the person suffer. It's not like autism or ADHD or OCD or OCPD (OCPD is Obsessive-Compulsive Personality disorder and its the whole 'i need everything to be perfectly lined up' thing) where the person who has it is the one who has to deal with everything from it. There's a reason people use Eric Cartman as an example when they talk about sociopaths/psychopaths in media, because he is one. You can't just pretend that everyone who has the disorder is all sunshine and rainbows, because to even get the diagnosis in the first place you have to have a history of doing shitty things. (i believe back to age fifteen if you get it when you hit eighteen) So by nature of the diagnosis in and of itself, the person can't be the next coming of christ. (And yes, there was a post about how saying all people with ASPD have done bad things is ableist, no its a characteristic of the diagnosis.)

ALSO, the DSM is not the 'oh you need to read it' that you think it is. the DSM-V pretty much didn't change anything in its inclusion of Personality disorders, and I would know that because I just freaking read the highlights of changes document. Now, this is important for one major reason

Hare, Hart, and Harpur back in 1991 said that psychopathy is not the same as ASPD. Hare developed a separate way to diagnose someone due to this (in 2003), which is still in use. But anyway, psychopathy is a square and rectangle situation. Psychopaths have ASPD, but not all people with ASPD are psychopaths.

I think part of the reason why i never went far with any of my toh aus is that whenever it came to trying to write a relationship with belos and another character it always came out as something wildly OOC for him (belos). It was really hard to justify him having a good relationship with Luz or Luz forgiving him for his past actions and hard for me to write a friendship between the two humans because if they're gonna be friends forgiveness for what he did in the past and lying to Luz about it would have to be earned and it would be impossible to earn it.

Also kinda struggling with the massive mischaracterization that a portion of the fandom had of belos and how it kinda ruined the finale for me in a way. Like no Caleb wasn't going to appear, that much was obvious from the trailer and i don't think he should have because he wouldnt have done anything for Luz's, Eda's, or King's story. Id see alot of fans pull any argument as to why the Collector should have been dropped in order to get screen time for Caleb, someone who was essentially a plot (or narrative) device, instead the Collector someone who mirrored Luz in season 1. That's what TOH was about, a story about a group of ppl who think differently navigating the world together. Not to mention the takes about the crew, the production timeline and Dana were really fucking gross? Like yeah seeing Evelyn and Caleb woulda been cool had Disney not shot down the show but by the time EWEW passed and HM rolled around there would have been no reason for Luz to give a shit about Philip's past. Not only was belos an objectively terrible person because looking at what the show gave us there's reasons to believe that he woulda killed Caleb had the people Gravesfield decided he (Caleb) was a witch and when belos had his beliefs challenged by his brother and the isles he decided to double down and kill his brother. But he also hurt Eda and King the two people (barring her mom and dad) that Luz cared most about. Plus you also have the personal betrayal in EWEW.

This ramble kinda stems from an inner debate about whether or not im gonna delete the Eclipse Fam AU cause when i was doing that, i started to get a grasp on my art style and where i wanted it to go as well as helping with art milestones like overcoming sketchbook fear and upping drawing stamina. As for Isles Escape AU, i dunno, i understand there is a nurture aspect to who Philip would grow up to be and the what-if Caleb pulled him outta the fucked up environment of gravesfields was an interesting brainworm. Finally the Swap AU was half of what it was in title what if Philip was in Luz’s place but also i don’t want to turn any of the main cast into belos cause wholeheartedly fuck that guy, drawing longing hair on boy is fun and awesome but I can just make an oc, i have a story on the back burner the needs a lot more designs.

runext finale thoughts:

weird asf group name and weird asf lineup. like idk why two of them are there but im not gonna send them hate and if they have good music ill still stream even though my faves didnt all make it. yk like a normal person would 🤷🏻‍♀️

so when i heard that korean votes would be used for the top two i knew exactly what hybe was up to. they wanted wonhee to debut. it probably would have been way closer...maybe fourth or fifth place if they used international votes and they didnt want to risk it. whether they meant to make jiwoo collateral or not is up for debate though.

i really think the judges just didnt like jiwoo bc what the fuck. i think hybe (and, consequently, the judges) knew who would be top two if they made the finale votes mostly korean and in doing so planned for the other four to not be jiwoo.

so i kinda predicted jiwoo falling out but jeemin? wow. i didnt expect that. she was never in my picks but she seemed to have that factor. i thought she and youngseo would be top two with youngseo being first and when i found out about korean voting, i assumed jeemin would take yunah or moka's spot. i cant even begin to theorize how that didnt happen.

iroha and wonhee were the judges favorites. this was clear as day. iroha was very much favored by the judges. she got second place on her team in given and taken and third overall after the bang! performance (stages where she made mistakes.) i think irohas personality is very charming and if theres no jeemin or jihyun we need a main dancer like her but shes still very young to me and her vocals arent very developed (see money and shut down performances.) wonhee is honestly a topic i dont want to discuss again but since im going over all the winners heres my opinion plainly:

shes too young. she trained the least out of everyone. she has a constant lost duck expression. she (like ena) had the potential to train some more and become a banger main vocalist (her tone is very pretty.) she fumbled the fearless performance. she ate the ssfwl and feel special performances up (showing her rapid growth.) her debut definitely robbed jeemin and jiwoo but the hate for her is absolutely disgusting. thats all.

youngseo....yeah i mean whos surprised? not really much to say other than good for her. i guess i dont like her voice but that doesnt mean its bad. she deserves it even though she was never in my picks. i will say though that she has tsuki syndrome. which ive classified as having very intense charisma and facial expressions so everyone thinks youre the perfect example of stage presence. over the top expressions doesnt mean talented idol. of course youngseo is talented also but if i had to point to the contestant with the best stage presence and expressions it would be jeemin no doubt. (neither of these girls were ever in my picks so im being v unbiased here)

moka....will rule the world. so proud of her. eat sleep moka.

yunah being sixth is wild. i think they just did that for shock value. shes the mood maker yall. live laugh yunah.

lastly minju....again good for her. very versatile and professional. her vocal tone is the most unique in the show and if they don't have jiwoo they'll need a stand out vocalist like her. (still hate that she had the entire i dont care performance while hyewon had like 3 lines even with voicing her uncertainty but we move on)

my predictions for the final lineup:

youngseo, jeemin, minju, wonhee, jiwoo, and moka or yunah (without korean popularity vote. with it jeemin and wonhee would switch places)
