"PVE people are probably about to find out that PVE can't carry the game because PVP is ruined and we're all gonna quit and play better games" please just can they shut up and go already instead of threatening us with a good time they never follow through on??

I saw that stuff as well, I know exactly what you're talking about. It's incredibly disingenuous and deliberately incendiary to cause more people to bitch about the game being doomed or whatever.

They are constantly using "steam numbers" to show that this is the lowest population count that Destiny 2 ever had and how that's proof that the game is being ruined and dying, that pvp bros and content creators are more important than we think they are, that Bungie needs to make Destiny 3 (yes, that is unironically stuff that people are saying) and other really incredibly tiring things.

Not to mention the vitriol towards the devs. Every time they bitch, more and more people show up in the comments saying awful shit about devs and how they are lazy, they don't work, they don't care, they are bad at development and so on. This is what eventually fuels harassment.

These "steam numbers" are disingenuous because they are taken out of context and they strip all other external reasons from the "low player count."

Is there a low player count? Yes! That is correct. Even when we account for console players, it's still low.

This is nothing new. This is a constant trend. Last month of the season ALWAYS has low numbers. People finished their story and their pinnacle grind and their seals and are doing other things.

Is this the lowest it's been so far? It seems to be, though the final month on steam charts isn't over so we can't fully tell yet, but it seems to be one of the lowest. However, there's been similar numbers before during seasonal end. It's quite literally nothing new. We go through this every season, except this season it's slightly lower than usual.

Why is that? Well, the chart Aztecross put to prove there's not many people playing happened on a Monday before the final Tuesday reset of the final week of the season. Yeah bro, very few people have things left to do in the season. They're not bothering. Unlike you, other people have other hobbies and games to play. I haven't played in days, I only got on on Saturday to finish my King's Fall seal and that took 10 minutes. This is what I mean by "disingenuous." It's a cheap bait tactic. Find the lowest number and ship it for cheap outrage engagement.

Others are constantly also posting the cummulative steam chart for every month of Destiny since the game came to steam and they're pointing out that we have lowest numbers now. Which is, again, posted for cheap outrage. They look at the number and see it's low and their conclusion is "game is dying." They don't care about the trend (every season end is "dying"), they don't care about external reasons (other game releases), they don't care about overall how some seasons are just weaker and have less interest (not the first time), they don't care about anything.

They just want people to be mad enough to harass the devs. Because like, what do they think is going to happen when they spend 2 months blogging to hundreds of thousands of people about the game being ruined by evil devs who don't do their job? When they constantly talk about how everything in the game is bad, pvp is bad, pve is boring and easy, story is bad, seasons are bad, events made for fun are bad, small community event is bad. What's going to happen is thousands of people are going to harass the devs. That's what going to happen.

I took the "steam numbers" chart that people are throwing around and I went into it in-depth to explain what the numbers mean and add context to them. You can see it here. It's a big image but you can zoom in and explore. It makes more sense when you see it separated by seasons; you can CLEARLY see the main trend of "low population at season end."

Another thing to consider with these numbers is the scheduling pattern. Shadowkeep released in October, Beyond Light released in November after a delay. October-November are usually months with a lot of other game releases and holidays. In 2019 and 2020, Bungie had an expansion themselves to cover that time. In 2021, there was no expansion in Oct-Nov; and that was the last time the game had the lowest population record ever. WHAT A SURPRISE. In this period, if Destiny doesn't have an expansion, people move on to play other games!!!! WOW! We have the technology to decipher the low numbers!

It's important to also note that back in 2021, that was the first time a game was delayed properly and significantly, so the year was without an expansion and there was a lull in Oct-Nov period. However, at that time, it was the first time this schedule happened and people generally didn't know how will it go. We were also kept in the dark about the seasonal story end (the infamous When Is Exorcism incident) so people had to keep coming back. Now, we're in the same situation; no new expansion in Oct-Nov, seasonal lull, nothing is happening. However, now, we know how this goes. People know how this schedule works AND we're not dealing with an extended season. We know when this season ends and there's nothing to wait for. People are more comfortable taking a break. So there's less people in Oct-Nov 2022 than there were in the previous lowest point, Oct-Nov 2021. It's almost as if there are reasons for this that go beyond "game is obviously dying."

These people also seem to be incapable of understanding that some players just... stop playing. For no specific reason. The game isn't dying, some people just lose interest. Content creators are especially guilty of this, because THEY can't stop playing, because they tied their income to a single live service game. To them, quitting the game is losing a job. Curious, maybe that influences their views about the game and about burnout and taking breaks and the quality of the content?

They simultaneously want Bungie to drop FOMO and reduce burnout, but they ALSO want for there to never be "content droughts." Which one is it? Because these two things cannot both be gone. If you want less FOMO and less burnout, then there will be less content. If you want more content, then you have to get on that burnout grindset.

It's the end of the god damn season. Yeah, nothing is happening. Yeah, fewer people are playing. Players finished their grind in the Destiny mines and are doing other things before the new season drops. Stop catastrophising it for cheap outrage bait. You not being able to take a break and having to keep making new content even when the season is ending and there no new content is your problem. Not Bungie's, not the other players'.

Bungie is not going to force their devs to crunch 80 hours per week so you can have brand new content every Tuesday that no regular player can catch up with. As it currently is, I want MORE downtime. I want seasons to be 4 months and to have less time and more downtime to catch up with stuff. Imagine the outrage though. Genuinely, society if these people would actually deliver on their promise and leave. Someone else will take your place, bro.

Also, as a final note before a dissertation in the tags: these pvp mains are weak. They whine about only having 2 new maps in 2 years. Gambit got -2 new maps. Like, literally we had 6 maps and now we have 4. LMAO. Crucible has a total of 24 maps and 8+ modes, constant updates, Iron Banner rework, multiple Trials reworks, incoming competitive rework, Crucible labs, three different sets of armour, prestige weapon loot, three different seals, entire twabs dedicated just to it. And they whine about not enough attention for the Crucible?

It's getting more attention than any other core playlist. Their problem is that they're not the ones being catered to. An update doesn't count if it doesn't satisfy mister Crucible Main #37. Fuck everyone else I guess! They are the most entitled selfish childish little pricks I've ever seen. They do not deserve Bungie talking the players at all.

one thing i would love to know in atn is what the relationship was between earth and the rest of the planets was!

like, all the planets had life on them (if im remembering john's soul explaination correctly: a soul is the complex arrangement of thalergy produced by a collection of living organsims, so just like billions of cells make a human soul, billions of life forms make up a planet soul) but obviously only earth had 'complex' life.

were the other planets jealous, indifferent, or proud? would a planet like mars, which shows traces of past water, feel envious that earth was just in the right place, had just the collisions to set things into motion? or would it be proud that at least someone got to have fun?

and then earth's newest children turn around and fuck her up. not all of them, obviously, but to a planet, especially one of jupiter's magnitude, to-may-to sounds no different to to-mah-to. or does it?

i just *clenches fist* want to know about the guilt the RB's have. because varun considers what it has done reprehensible ('we who were murdered and we who murder' and 'i have poisioned the universe to match my grief') and when you consider that other complex life IS possible on other planets but could quite literally be all gone now because of hungry ghosts that want to honour complex life's memory (both john and the rbs), then you have got to wonder how varun feels when it chows down on a thriving planet.

and!!!! how does varun feel about love!!! its only points of reference for it are judith (as shown by how their thoughts can bleed into each other when marta is brought up) and john. john is very obviously about consumption, and varun is the eater, but judith is the queen of repression; would varun believe an equally important part of human love is starvation on other's behalf?

"I have poisoned the universe to match my grief" is one of THE most badass lines in NtN. Thinking of how Augustine says that if the RBs were physically they would "leave flatted galaxies in their wake," but instead they feed on planets, murdering them before the lyctors can, unless the lyctors get there first, and the end result is a deserted universe anyway.

Also! My #just vibes hc is that planetary souls don't necessarily show up because a planet has life, but because of the potential for life. There's no life on Venus but in TLT Venus was still able to host a human population, after a lot of tinkering. All the planets the RB stumble on end up absorbed, and I'm reasonably sure that all planets the lyctors kill have a "small" revenant, even if there's no biosphere. Anyway; Alecto clearly was the "most developed" and I wonder if it made her more aware.

I'm always thinking about this post about how Alecto bestowed powers on John to save humanity, not Earth; there were billions of living beings that would never have been impacted by humanity's extinction, but she decided she couldn't tolerate it, she had to do something. All for love :)

unironically i started playing honkai seventeen days ago just for aventurine and I think I'm physically ill for this man. like gahhhh hes so silly. i have nearly 80 pulls thjat ive spent literally all my time grinding for, and I'm at 60 pity and I will literally kill someone if I lose the 50/50 .90% of gamblers quit before they hit jackpot and similarly 90% of Honkai Star Rail players quit before they win their 50/50. 90% of Honkai Star Rail players quit before they get E6 Aventurine. So, I know im not as active on here as I used to be but that's just cause I kinda just. have moments where I forget this site exists hfvgkjsdfgvjksdfgkvsd. Anyways I know I dont really post about JoJo that much but take these chaotic LS headcanons because LS is the main reason I love golden wind so much.

Prosciutto is a fucking plant dad. His room has shelves that are just full of old-ass books and plants. He even has names for them.

Melone, Illuso, Risotto and Formaggio all have an Onlyfans. Formaggio has it ironically while Risotto just has it for the money. If the gang has a flight to somewhere, Prosciutto will be the one to wake everyone up at 5AM even if they have to leave at 1PM. this has resulted in Formaggio and Ghiaccio beating his ass. Illuso says shit like "Yass queen", "Slay", and "material gworl" unironically. he also uses "babe" and "sweetie" as platonic nicknames. also he dresses in drag. His drag queen name is Refa Lection yk how I said Pros is a plant dad? well Formaggio is absolutely a cat dad and yes this HAS resulted in fights since Formaggios cats often knock over Prosciutto's plants. P: "IF YOU DON'T GET THOSE BASTARDS UNDER CONTROL I WILL!!" F: "YOU WON'T LAY A *HAND* ON MY SWEET BABIES!!!! AND HOW DARE YOU CALL THEM BASTARDS!!" Three days grace, Fall out Boy and MCR can almost always be heard from Risottos room. even in the dead of night. Everyone either just puts up with it, listens along, or drowns it out with their own music. Out of all of them, Risotto has the highest spice tolerance. Ghiacco always insists that he can handle the spicy food that Riz eats. He cannot. Both Formaggio and Melone like to metaphorically fuck with everyone in la squadra whenever they're bored, with the exception of Risotto because 1, he doesn't give a shit, and 2, Melone is too intimidated by him. His favorite member to piss off is Ghiaccio. Make no mistake though, they fuck with each other all the time too. They are NOT partners in crime. Formaggio will often dare Ghia to do stupid shit and then film it. He has a whole chest filled with tapes of Ghiaccio failing or suffering during his dares. Melone is a HUGE fucking astrology and tarot card bitch. He legit knows everyone's birth chart by heart and is always offering readings. He also cleanses with incense and Ghiaccio finds it insufferable. Melone also just somehow knows everyones secrets no matter what and no one knows how. The rest of the members all sorta fear him to a certain extent because of this. Yes Melone has used his uncanny ability to his advantage.

Pesci likes to paint his nails. it's usually really messy whenever he does it though, so he'll sometimes get Prosciutto to do it for him. He doesn't really do anything fancy with them; usually just paints them a bright green like his hair or blue to represent the ocean. :) He also watches shit like troom troom and 5 minute crafts and genuinely believes practically every word that they say. He has tried more than once to recreate some craft he saw on one of those channels, and gets really sad when it doesn't work. Pros usually has to console him out of it. Ghiaccio "secretly" listens to BTS and knows all the words to the songs. Formaggio once caught him singing Fake Love at the top of his lungs. Yes Forms has this recorded. The reason Ghia attempts to keep his love for the band a secret (even though everyone knows about it) is cause he thinks that people will make fun of him for listening to it, which Formaggio does do, but mainly just because of Ghia being so insistent on denying it. He really couldn't care less. Both Riz and Melone each have a secret stash of Monster energy in their rooms and both have accidentally stayed up all night more than once. Risotto because he is overworked as shit (poor boi) and Melone because he gets sucked into internet rabbit holes. Between the two of them Risotto is WAY worse though. This man has stayed up for DAYS on end. His record is two weeks without sleep. Sometimes other members of la squadra will deadass find risotto passed the fuck out at his desk. Whenever this happens, it's just a mutual agreement to leave him there (unless it's super important) and Prosciutto will take charge until he wakes up.

Look At Him. i only watched like the first season and havent touched anything else but i can say with 100% certainty That Guy Has ASPD. okay this ask isnt about me telling you i agree with you and others who have that correct opinion, but just wanted to say it.

im not gonna reply im not gonna @ im not gonna screengrab cause thats really not the point i dont want to just straight up bully someone for misunderstanding a point i made (esp when their heart is in the right place) but if your takeaway from my post about engaging with art is "yeah, its fun to make fun of bad art!" like NO. NOT the point here. YES it is fun and i do it and you do it i think we all do it. we all do it.

but the point isn't that the point is that genuinely unironically you should meet with bad art at its face level and try to genuinely understand it. and meet it where it's at. and see what it was trying to do. cause i really don't think anyone is ever trying to make a bad piece of art. unless it's on purpose. and even then they've definitely got a goal in mind. but also i think maybe this applies less to big budget movies because they get diluted and nobody's actually putting anything into them it's just churned out by a council. fortnite or that new star wars game don't really have a goal in mind. but even they were worked on by individual creatives who probably don't wanna just churn out bland corpo paste all day so, you know.

ANYWAY. yes its ok to make fun of bad films or yell at a TV show or whatever. but sometimes you should just try to meet it earnestly and see what you do enjoy. i think if you have the means to you should find open mics and comedy shows and stuff. even if you only go to them like every few months. its ok to not if you're too busy with work or whatever i've been skimping on it for ages. but like just buy a ticket to a random gig in your town, who cares. and maybe it'll suck or it'll be cool and really resonate with you. i just think we need to be less objectivist about art because i think a piece of art with 99 problems but 1 really cool thing that you're like "woah that's actually really neat" is still of value and you shouldn't just go in yelling at it right away cause you might miss that cool thing. find the cool thing and THEN yell at it later. don't just write everything off as "good thing" or "bad thing" like some of my favourite pieces of art also suck. it's fine.

i thought about this for a little while after i first started up this blog back in july and i think initially i sorta did, but i think i had gotten so caught up in the rat race of followers and numbers and interaction and the subjective concept of "big blog" versus "small blog" that it started to be kinda unhealthy for me in a way. constantly comparing my interactions to other peoples' interactions, wondering if people consider me a """big blog""" (i use this in quotes because there's genuinely no way to tell 99% of the time since follower count is private and you have no clue how many followers anyone has at any given time), that sort of thing-- it had started to become less about being a writer + having fun and more about being this sort of image of seakicker as if she's some kind of character i play. maybe i overemphasize some parts of myself here and underemphasize other parts, but that's just how everyone is i think. everyone's at least a little different online than irl and in some ways but ultimately it's all just the same me. ive always found it important to have some sort of image/brand recognition (so to speak) where people Know me so i think i got too caught up in that before w follower count and stuff as a consequence; i wanted to be someone people really thought about. a little ego issue if you will lol

im not worried about that sort of thing anymore. my interaction is really great as far as i'm concerned (i have a very good flow of asks and it makes me feel really bad that i'll never be able to get to every ask i receive), i have very very kind followers and friends and i receive really good feedback on my posts and fics, i have fun doing what i do and i dont really view seakicker as a character i play (rather than somebody i just am) anymore and i have a very nice blog here.

in terms of overall followers, yeah i have fewer right now than when i deactivated my og blog bc that one was just up for longer, but in terms of follower growth im growing at the same rate i did on that blog. i don't want to worry about numbers anymore and unironically hearing vox talk about his relationship with his following/numbers/interaction has really been healing for me as well... kinda crazy to think that both a youtuber with 1mil subscribers and a humble porn author with an audience of a couple thousand have the exact same insecurities and fears when it comes to content creation and interacting w an audience

tl;dr i don't miss it and i genuinely view myself, my presence, and my blog more positively now

sick and tired of guides on revolutionary action telling you WHAT to do but not HOW to do it. like buddy you're making the exact same mistakes that my professors are when they assign things, and its not making anything you say particularity actionable. there's this book im reading which is very explicit that, in organizing, volunteers will do best when you offer them big things to do, not signing petitions or sending letters, BIG things. .....ok, like what? the only example given is one sit-in protest thats mentioned. is that it? can you give me one other example of a "big thing" a volunteer can do other than attend a protest? you can tell me to do something all you want but if i dont know what that thing IS and how to do it, i can't. i need examples. every guide on protests/riots ive seen on tumblr tells you to plan ahead, and to get involved, and never to post about them. they never tell you how to know when/where/IF a protest is happening. how can i prepare and get involved if i dont even know it's happening? i can't search for it, because thats bad and theoretically people wont be posting about it anyway. so how can i find them? sometimes i even like ask the ops on those posts about that and i never get a response. its like im being told to double jump to solve a puzzle and id LOVE to and unironically THANK you for the guide on double jumping except uhh step 2 just says "jump again" how do i do that? my feet arent on the ground so the normal way isnt working? hello? id love to follow your guide to help but please there are steps here that you don't actually explain how to do you just say to do them

Its 1000% fair to call out people who are entitled and privileged, esp after generations of discrimination and trauma (Im a poc too and I've had my fair share of marginalisation) but to make such a sweeping statement about a whole race of people...

Theres lovely white people, and I've met some genuinely amazing, down to earth ones throughout my life who couldn't give a shit about what colour my skin is. On the other hand there's other white people who blatantly hate you for looking a certain way.

In the same way, there's amazing poc whilst there's also terrible ones too. I worked in retail for a year and both times I cried was because a POC verbally abusing me. One of my own race, telling me I should take off my hijab because I "don't know manners" after she screamed at me to return her items and I said I wasn't allowed to because she didn't have a tag which funnily enough is also racism.

The only point I'm trying to make is that unironically the world isn't black and white, and I feel like making sweeping statements about a whole race of people just feeds into the vicious cycle of hate that we're all trying to break out of in the first place.

hi !! while i’m very glad you think i’m an eloquent person to talk about this, and i’m flattered you think highly of me as motioned above, i think i’ll have to drop this topic with the simple fact that i think the humor of that reblogged post was that the blog dm’d someone and explained why they wanted to block them, that they didn’t know how to block them, and asked if the other person could block them for them. it was just the humor of that concept i think that made that post blow up and the irony of messaging someone u want to remove.

i don’t tell white ppl to kts for simply being white and i don’t think ppl should do that, but i also don’t rly want to get into racial discussions rn bc i don’t think that was the real point of that post.
