oh my god okay i’ve been so fucking wrapped up in both ironhusbands and sambucky and absolutely nothing else for WEEKS because of tfatws (obviously if you have seen my endless spam of reblogs but can you BLAME ME) and the portal closed has ironhusbands so i’ve been just. oh my god i am happily drowning in this and them and i do not need nor want air. ok.

also these are all hc’s based just in canon not au, and lol warning this got so long help me, though my brain is so scrambled from tfatws finale that all sambucky thoughts are scrambled and jumbled so i wasn't able to coordinate them as well as ironhusbands so the ironhusbands section is definitely longer pfighf i'm so sorry i'm like this

when they met at mit tony didnt know shit. like. like nothing. he didnt know a single god damn thing about anything. like he was a genius he could solve any equation given to him and baffled professors when he was handed like two supposedly impossible equations to this fuckin fourteen year old and he just looked at them with like a mcdonalds burger or some shit hanging out of his mouth and just answered them no problem, but he was still such a hopeless idiot, and rhodey, also a genius attending as a sixteen year old, had to teach him the basics of life, like. making toast. tony how do NOT know how to make toast. its TOAST. you put it in the TOASTER. have you NEVER SEEN A—OH MY GOD HOW DID YOU FUCKING CATCH IT ON FIRE—

he does not perfect the clearly impossible task of making toast until he is 17 and rhodey buys him a cake to celebrate the momentous occasion even though tony went though 528 toasters

and also paper planes by jon bellion but specifically for after rhodey tells tony he’s gonna join the air force and tony is worried but doesnt know how to show it and they have like a chill night in and all tony can think about is how stupid he is and how he’s such a coward because he cant get himself to tell rhodey that hi!! i love u!! and im scared to lose u and that you’ll get hurt and maybe die or smth!!

when rhodey finds out about how tony was raised (going with mcu, where tony wasnt physically abused but more emotionally neglected and ignored by howard and always talked down to and compared to others and wasnt treated like he was worthy and never was told he was loved and everything like that) he gets PISSED. like he is MONUMENTALLY angry. and it takes YEARS for him to find out about this too. and it actually puts a bit of a strain on their friendship for awhile when they meet too

like rhodey knows about the starks obviously and he assumes tony is going to be this obnoxious arrogant rich boy asshole and is so not looking forward to being roommates but he was raised to have an open mind and give everyone a chance, but tony was raised to be wary of everyone and keep his walls up and his emotions in shackles because whatever he shows can be used against him, so they clash, you know? they dont fight or anything but theres tension bc it isnt right and they dont get each other.

rhodey tries to be nice and tony doesnt understand nice because his only example of nice is jarvis and his mom and even then his mom and jarvis are always off with his dad so he barely sees them so its still rare for him to experience the nice of them so he doesnt know how to be around someone nice all the time, and so he gets defensive and thinks about how howard drilled it into him to be wary and he thinks maybe rhodey isnt ACTUALLY nice but someone PRETENDING to be

and rhodey starts to feel justified in assuming the worst about tony stark because tony is all cold and distant and rude and is about to stop the keeping an open mind thing about a month into their first year but then he comes back to their dorm early from class one day and tony doesnt come in so rhodey is just standing there and watches for a minute as tony sits there staring down at his twenty sixth attempt at a letter he wants to send his mom becauss he knows his mom likes letters even though he could just call but they havent really called him (howards fault but he’s fourteen still and its hard to rationalize that howards busy life and controlling thumb extends past his son) and rhodey is just confused because tony just suddenly sighs and sniffles a bit and murmurs “this is so stupid” and crumbles up the paper and throws it in the garbage and rhodey cant help but peer into it and barely sees the words hey mom scribbled at the top and that. that. hm. okay.

so rhodey keeps trying because he wasnt supposed to see that but he did and now he kind of has a feeling that maybe tony isnt all that cold and distant and rude as he seems, maybe he just doesnt really know how to be any different, so he thinks about all the subtle little ways that his family has shown him they care about him and starts to invite tony to go get food or to study together even though neither of them really need to study or to help each other with assignments or just anything thats mundane enough to not raise suspicion but still starts to open the door and make tony relax around him just that little bit and then before tony realizes it the end of their first year is there and theyre like friends or something and it hits him that he’s gonna miss rhodey.

for the first time ever there’s someone other than his mom and jarvis that he’s actually going to miss.

rhodey grins at him and says that they’ll be roommates again next year because they have to be and that the summer will be over before they know it and the sentiment is nice but tony spends the summer alone wandering around a house too big and empty after being in a dorm that’s small and has a friend.

but rhodey doesn’t know this. like he knows that tony isn’t the kind of guy he originally assumed but he doesn’t know that he’s literally ignored and neglected and like emotionally and sometimes verbally abused so he’s kind of surprised when the next year begins and they DO end up being roommates again (because tony kind of asked his mom, on a rare day when he got to see her and howard wasnt around, to get mit to make sure they could be) and tony just HUGS him like its been years and they’ve known each other forever but he goes with it and hugs him back because maybe tony’s just more affectionate once he gets to know someone and rhodey is okay w that.

they get closer as the years go by and they graduate from mit together and they’re BEST friends and at the end of the year rhodey invites tony to spend new years eve w his family but tony cant bc howard is having some kind of gala starting at 5 because hes weird and dumb and tony hates it and he also isnt given the option of not going even though he doesnt want to but the entire way there howard drills into him about not fucking up and berates him for all the times he has in the past and when they get there tony is already just not feeling it so he’s like nope!! no!! i simply cannot!!

so he goes in and finds an exit thats in the back and he leaves and finds a fucking payphone of all things and he has rhodeys home number memorized for years now and he calls and someone he doesnt knoe answers and theres music in the background and voices and tony’s entire stomach is in his throat and his heart is sunken into his twisted gut because he just wanted one night where maybe he could smile next to his parents and feel like he fit with them but he couldnt have that and he asks to talk to rhodey and then he is and asks if its too late to accept his invite and rhodey is like yeah of course do u need my address bc its still only 5 pm and its a 2 hour drive between south philadelphia and manhattan so he’d make it with plenty of time before it got to midnight so yay

and tony is like. oh. hm. i dont know how to drive actually. that was a thing that no one ever thought to teach me even though i asked about it about ten million times. and rhodey is used to tony not knowing how to do things that most people their age can (see: the toast) and plus its not uncommon for people from new york to not drive anyway so he doesnt think anything of it and instead asks for tony’s address to come pick him up instead and they’d still make it back by like 9-9:30 so that would work too

and thats when tony is like. well.

about that.

he might be calling from a payphone.

on a random street corner.

and its kind of raining. and he’s cold. and he’s a bit dulled out from everything so he doesn’t really think about the fact that admitting this is going to lead to having to explain what happened and also why and that is happens often. but that doesnt matter because he kind of just wants to be with his best friend and not back at that gala with his dad right now.

rhodey is like,,, ok. ok. wheres a coffee shop nearby u can wait in. and tony thankfully is by a 24 hour one and tells him the name and the street corner its closest to and rhodey is like i’ll be there asap and tony goes and he waits.

a two hour drive turns into an hour and a half because rhodey is Worried™

but when he walks in tony goes from being all dulled out to being all HOLY SHIT because rhodey has a SPLIT LIP and he’s like WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED WHAT THE FUCK WHAT

and rhodey’s like no no its good my uncle was having fun and trying to wrestle with me and he accidentally elbowed me its all good man dont worry about it

tony isnt used to accidentally being hurt tho so he’s still like hmmm but he takes rhodeys word on it and they head out and tony wont say what happened or why he was calling from a payphone ?? which btw tony literally only was able to do bc there happened to be dropped change on the ground because boy would not have change on him ok, but rhodeys like alright lets go with this for now

so they gets to the rhodes house and it is in full swing with family and extended family and adopted family bc they are 100% the family that just adopts the neighborhood kids and the people who have no one else and like ex boyfriends and ex girlfriends even after the relationship ends bc they still are family despite not dating whoever it was they had been dating in order to be introduced to them so its a LOT of people and tony is like. this is semi familiar in terms a lot of people but this is NOTHING like what he has ever seen before holy fucking SHIT

rhodey is just like oh u have a small family then? so ur used to smaller gatherings?

and tonys like wtf are gatherings

and rhodey is starting to get a feel for what might be wrong but just takes tony inside to get him changed because he’s not spending new years eve at the rhodes house in a fucking expensive suit ok

tony is completely out of his element and like he’s not the only white guy there bc again the rhodes adopt people and those people are of every race and nationally you can imagine but he just isnt used to the vibe there are people laughing and sitting close together and playing games and theres music playing but not like classy music its music people can dance to and are dancing to and the food isnt the food he’s used to at galas and shit and nothing is what he’s used to and he just sticks to rhodey’s side like a fucking lost puppy and tries his best not to look like an idiot when rhodey introduces him to people and a lot of them know who he is but dont judge him or assume shit about him bc obviously if he’s friends w rhodey then he’s a good guy and they want to know him and thats enough

but tony is v overwhelmed bc what the FUCK IS HAPPENING this is nothing like anything he has ever experienced EVER

so eventually rhodey can tell he’s getting overwhelmed and takes him inside and lets him have a breather and then asks him about whats going in and thats when rhodey learns about what tonys life at home is really like and. anger.

SO MUCH anger

because not only has every single assumption he has ever made about tony been proven wrong, but now he knows that the best person he knows has never been treated the way he deserves and has never known a true home and comfort and love and safety and

and he’s gonna fix it

and this is the first step

so he takes tony back out and they’re still just friends but this is the day they both quietly realize they might kind of definitely like each other as more because tony is still so confused by the fact that what he knows isnt the normal and overwhelmed by how much there is and how different it is but rhodey holds his hand as a grounding point and whenever it might be too much they move off to the side where they arent completely gone but its less hectic and a bit more quiet and its just nice

tony goes to rhodeys house for every holiday despite whatever howard says

rhodey decks howard the only time they ever meet before tonys parents die and he has the most shit eating grin on his face afterwards that tony cant help but lose his shit laughing his ass off

anyway i didnt mean to ramble for so long about that specific idea so i’ll end the ironhusbands ramble with this one last thought, which is as follows:

rhodey gets hurt in the air force at some point, and it isnt that bad tbh but he does have to go the hospital and shit and gets stitches or whatever idk i dont know what specifically happens i just think it’d be just bad enough that it takes him a few weeks to be able to go back to work but he’s not like OH GOD HURT yk?

but like stated above tony was scared and worried when rhodey told him he was gonna go into the air force so he hears about this and they’re probably like almost 30 at this point because they’re dumb and it takes them forever to get their heads out of their asses (i say this even though in the portal closed it takes them even longer but i digress) rhodey has like his mon his sister his niece visiting him and they were worried but they know hes fine so theyre just talking and in a good mood and then—

door slams open. tony stark enter stage left. disheveled suit, fresh from a meeting he definitely was not supposed to leave, having flown in from maibu the second he heard and then had happy drive him and then got impatient because of traffic and ended up sprinting like ten blocks while happy was like what the FUCK

of course rhodeys family are well aware that these idiots are desperately in love with each other so they’re just like lol ok and just leave the room while tony starts fretting over him like he’s about to die himself if he doesnt know if rhodey is okay and rhodey is like tony tony dude tones stop tony im okay tony stop it

until finally tony just fucking breaks down like full on tears in his eyes voice cracking hands clasped as he leans against rhodeys bed and tells him that he was so scared and he is so scared all the time whenever rhodey is out there because all he can think about is losing him and him getting hurt or dying and it’s maddening and this is when they get their heads out of their asses and kiss for the first time

(irony at its finest bc later when they are married and tony becomes iron man rhodey refuses to not have a suit of his own because if tony is going out there in a metal flying tin can then he isn’t going alone and wow what a power couple)

sambucky:

firstly i’m going to go post tfatws, but i’ll make a bullet point before going into it so if you wanna read up until that point you can but most of this will be random little headcanons based post tfatws

also it isnt like a whole plotline thing like the ironhusbands ones ended up being these ones are more random and kinda all over the place but loosely connected

update from after writing this: i lied

let me start by saying my interpretation of why they are the way they are in civil war is because of steve

thats not saying steve is the bad guy i mean to say that they’re jealous of each other because they thought that THEY were steve’s best friend who the fuck is THIS guy i dont want him here go away

children. they are children.

which i find very funny to imagine from sams pov because he literally is a licensed therapist and would 100% recognize why he’s acting how he is but he’s petty enough to do it anyway

and also he literally was helping steve track bucky down but i like to imagine that sam didnt think they’d ever really find him again and it’d just make him and steve like super mega best friends or something because hes a CHILD

and then from bucky’s pov steve goes through all this trouble to find him and protect him and then this random guy is acting like steve’s best friend and gets to sit in the front seat ??? bullshit. absolutely bullshit. worst thing ever. so stupid.

its so funny to me okay its SO funny

its like that schoolyard thing where your friend makes another friend and you hate it so much that you do something stupid like color on their drawing or put gum in their hair or whatever but they’re adults with 1. super soldier serum or 2. a superhero reputation/avengers status and suit with wings. so thats a thing.

post civil war i dont think they get much yk. because bucky is out in cryo and team cap is on the run and i doubt theyre able to return to wakanda much, if at all, and then it’s infinity war and then it’s endgame and after endgame there’s the aftermath and the aftermath is a mess

i like to think they have some moments before tfatws though. not many but enough for that slight foundation thats we can kind of see in episode 2 yk.

okay NOW it gets into post tfatws so!!

SO post tfatws everything is different because now they not only have spent all this time together, but they understand each other in a way that they didn’t before. in a way no one ever has. not even steve, who may have known them before, but he isn’t here anymore and he wouldn’t understand who they are now vs who they were before and it’s different.

bucky finds comfort in sam’s home town. sam finds comfort in watching bucky find a home there and he doesnt know why.

also sam treats redwing like a puppy and lets him fly around on his own and gets pet and stuff and bucky acts annoyed but the longer it happens you can tell he’s like “oh my god why is this thing endearing”

bucky has nightmares and sam knows this but bucky doesnt know that sam also has nightmares until one night when they’re still in sams home town and they’re staying on the boat because sams nephews are having a sleepover with some friends and they didnt want to get in the way or smth idk i just want an excuse for them to be on the boat and somewhat secluded from people but bucky already woke up from his nightmare and is out on the deck to get some fresh out and then oop

sam havin a nightmare too

because fucking of COURSE sam has nightmares he has been through some shit too!! not being able to catch riley and everything that happened since meeting steve and thanos and he turned to dust alone in the bushes ok like yes everyone that died were traumatized undoubtedly (peter my baby boy baby im so sorry that you got the worst of it) but bucky was around people but sam was laying on the ground and probably just watched his hands as he disappeared and he was alone and like. jesus christ ok.

and then steve trusted him with every weight and everything that comes with the shield not knowing how much more the shield has when he gave it to a black man and just like he has nightmares everyone in marvel does its a fact

but bucky finds out like this and he is shocked even though he realizes he probably should have been able to guess that this is a thing and he knows so much more about sam now than he ever did but this is how he learns more. he learns about riley. he learns so much.

sometimes bucky has those like “oh shit” moments where he’s like “maybe i was kind of a dick to someone who didnt deserve it” and he already had one of those with sam about the shield but he has another one because he assumed shit about sam when they were being all childish and jealous about someone else being friends with steve but like fuck

steve and sam probably got it

the not catching someone. the way it felt to try and to reach out and to miss and to have to choice but to watch as they fell.

what’s different is that steve got bucky back. he got to have that relief, eventually, even if there was the pain of knowing bucky had been taken by hydra, but at least he knew bucky had made it.

sam didn’t have that. riley didnt make it.

therefore, bucky has his “oh shit”

and bucky was already going soft around the edges with sam (as clearly seen in the last two episodes of tfatws, ESPECIALLY the finale because like did tou SEEZ ALL THE HEART EYES oh my GOD) but it’s this that really makes something in him melt and he just. he loses the last remnants of whatever tension or resentment or whatever negative feeling he may have been clutching onto.

there wasnt much left. but now theres none. now its all washed away.

its gone, and he gets it.

sam is a licensed therapist and he knew the reason he was being all dumb and childish and jealous with bucky was because steve had another best friend but also because steve’s other best friend was the guy that had been a big factor in how him and steve understood each other and how they bonded and it

it had kind of felt like they lost part of that when they found bucky again in civil war and he kind of wanted to blame bucky for it even though he didnt actually blame him at all so all it translated to was that dumb kind of jealous thing instead

but now it’s just them. its sam and bucky and it isnt steve and it isnt about steve and it shouldnt be because its about them. its about the boat and the water and the way they sit and watch the waves while the silence settles over them and the way that bucky says, “im sorry.”

its the way sam says, “me too.”

and bucky says, “you dont have to be.”

its the way they stay there until sarah comes to get them for breakfast and sams nephews convince them to play with them and their friends and the world is still shit and there is so much to do but

but its this and its them and that can wait

it can wait

they can take their time if they want to

maybe they’ve earned that much, at least

(it isn't a fast development because they're a complicated pair and there's so much to the two of them that need to figured out individually before they can even realize how well they work together, but the steps are so much easier knowing that they have the other in their corner and bucky knows that sam's home town is a place he's welcome to go and sam helps him make his own dreary little apartment into something that feels real and tangible with a bed and a couch and when they've become something that resembles stable and they've found a balance and they're okay, that's when they realize that maybe they can try for the more that sometimes bubbles under their skin and that they started to think about the more they spend time together. the warmth that sam feels every time he sees bucky playing games with his nephew and the smile that bucky has to fight to hide and still can't fully suppress when sam stands tall and proud with the shield in its rightful place, and it takes time, it takes work, it takes carefully placed bricks to build the foundation they need, but they get there, and when they do...

when they do, they're already happy, and it just makes them happier, and that's what makes it so much better.

that's what makes it worth the wait.)

i swear i didnt ship u w peter just bc of your pfp pick but when you sent me your info and i read youre allergic to cats i was like “yes this is peter’s gf”. also i see you and peter as very alike ppl so… OKAY anyways so youll def met in school duh. it was the first day of the senior year in physics. you outsmarted him and he was like 🤨🤨 but also 😳😳 but he was confused and flustered. you ended up turning to him and giving him a smile which made his face turn pink. you giggled softly and turned back to pay attention the the class, completely obvious to the fact that peter stared at you the whole period.

after class he went up to you and was like “h-hey, y/n, right? well u-um i noticed that i was wrong in class, and i was just um, wondering if you could explain to me how i was wrong. because i was like, 200% sure i was right haha” and youre like “sure. meet me in the library during lunch” then you leave bc youre cool and peter is left there like 😮.

anyways so he meets you in the library and you basically give him a tutoring session and omg he literally cant stop staring at youu. he loves the way you smell and he thinks you look so pretty in your outfit hes like 😍😍😍. you notice this and smirk and say “you wanna go out w me and betty and ned tonight?” and hes like 😟 “wot” and youre like “it can be a double date. unless youre with someo-” and he’s like “NO NO IM NOT” and youre like “alright. heres my address. be there at 5, no later than that” you scribble your apartment number down and hand it to him before leaving. he picks up the paper and stares at it and just smiles bc tbh hes always thought you were pretty but was always too nervous to talk to you.

anyways so he tells aunt may when he gets home n shes so excited! her baby is going on his first date! she helps him prepare and she wishes him the best as he leaves to go to your apartment. he knocks on the door, holding a rose and waiting anxiously for you to open the door. you do a few moments later, your appearance making his heart explode. youre in this pretty blue dress thats super casual and has white flowers all over it. and hes like 😍😍😍😍 and you giggle and get flustered bc your long time crush is staring at you with his jaw wide. you then say hi, breaking him out of his daze and hes like “h-hi. you look stunning, u-uh i mean, pretty. stunning is too much. o-or maybe it’s not uh—” “thank you pete” you say. he smiles and holds out the rose, to which you awe at. you take him inside for a few moments, ned and betty already there. you grab your purse before you two head to downtown.

the night is amazing. while ned and betty are cuddling up to each other, you and peter hang back and talk. you two learn a lot about each other and jump from topic to topic seamlessly. you end the night w ice cream and while ned takes betty home, peter takes you home too. you two end up sharing a cute goodbye kiss that leaves you two 😍😍😍 (lmfao this emoji is so famous). and you bid him goodbye and leave him again, flustered. next morning you two see each other in class and peter asks you to be his gf (aww) (you assume betty gave him the advice but actually he did it all on his own. he isnt totally clueless).

you two become gf and bf and are easily the most attractive and smartest couple in school. you two go on lots of dates and often match your outfits hehe. you two are often found in his apartment, cuddling while studying for upcoming tests. he eventually reveals his secret to you and youre a little pissed he didnt tell you before , but overall youre amazed and supportive. you do worry about him bur after missions he always comes back to you and its the best.

also just wanna add you two move in together after graduating and get a cat and you both just die while you cuddle it 🤩🤩

this is such a HARD question bc now i want to change one thing that would ensure that none of the drama and death happens but then the story wouldn’t happen 😭 part of me wants to change jiang fengmian and madam yu’s relationship and the way that they “parented” - i have a feeling wwx and jiang cheng would have been wayyyy more well adjusted and all the antagonising wwx did in the cloud recesses wouldn’t have happened with the wen clan and then the war wouldn’t have happened etc. hopefully the tensions with the wen clan and the other major sects could have remained as a cold war ???? and everyone could have been able to live their nice and happy lives ❤️

i was going to say that maybe if wwx’s parents didn’t die but then wwx wouldn’t have gone to the cloud recesses’ lectures and met lan zhan :((((((( HOWEVER that could be a good AU ,,, adult lan zhan still being all repressed and gay and fuddy-duddy-like coming across rouge cultivator wwx and just losing his mind in the same way as he did as a teen 💀 it can be a fic that lives in my heart hahaha bc theres no way im confident enough to write mdzs fic. but yeah i’m going to go with my first answer??? even tho i’m kind of obsessed with the second now HAHAH.

Ok so this is going to be a wildly unpopular opinion that you will wholeheartedly disagree w Anna, but here goes

I kinda hope they phase BC out of the MCU. Im not one of these fans that wants him to fail or to vanish forever or will never see another project until he leaves sophie (i don’t think thats ever going to happen). I just don’t think he fits w the MCU anymore and he is kinda, to me, a bummer stain on an otherwise fun experience.

The actors in the MCU are literally the only actors I’ve ever taken a mild interest in outside of their movie roles. Meaning i won’t immediately change the channel if they are on late night, or I might flip through a mag if they are in there, or im actually interested in their thoughts on their char.

The actors in the MCU, for the most part, are super engaging. They engage the fan base in a really great way. Now granted, I get it, lots of that is coaching etc, I get that. However, the actors all engage w the material and the fanbase in a really great way. they have lovable personalities, they all seem humble and grateful and excited to be there. Even RDJ who plays on this kinda ego centric char he has is totally endearing and everyone gets it. They make the fan base feel like they are all a part of something, everyone is in it together, they genuinely want everyone to have a great time, they get how much these stories can mean to a lot of people.

Now im sure someone can pull up an anecdote here or there where MCU actors have not been their best selves, but for the most part, MCU actors make the fanbase feel loved and valued. MCU fans are not talked down to by them. Each actor has a unique and lovable personality that is engaging

BC sticks out like a sore thumb. He isn’t delivering DRS and MCU toys to hospitals, he doesn’t have social media, so he isn’t engaging w elements of the fanbase that does charity work. He doesn’t talk excitedly about DRS and MCU projects, he doesn’t comment on fan art and projects in a respectful way (ignoring the freakier ones). Now i know the dusted actors were not doing the rounds media wise, but still

Ben just comes off as someone who thinks he is above all that. All i see and think about when i think about BC and MCU fans is a guy who is just so sick of fans. Fans are all obsessed w him and won’t they go away. anyone who doesn’t worship him and dares to chat in a neg way about what he is putting out is a stalker, florals, they are all so tiring! poor, poor women who lost themselves when he married, your uteruses still have use w out him! he just seems like he doesn’t want to be there and is delusional about how much people care about him beyond gossip and riling each other up for fun

To me BC is in a totally different category from the other main MCU actors. BC is running around to the MET gala acting a fool, Ben is running around too busy trying to sell every single stitch of clothing on his body. ben is too busy branding and selling his family. ben is trying to wring every last red cent out of every move he makes.

And before anyone jumps down my throat w a long list of products MCU actors sell, I KNOW. its about the feel of it.

Ben these days comes off as a stuck up, toffy snob who doesn’t want to be there. Ben comes off as someone who has disdain for his fans, and while he def wants them to keep him and his wife in expensive vegan clothing and millionaire status, they need to just shut the fuck up and hand over the cash. Ben comes off as someone who is entitled to fame and attention, but on his terms. Ben comes off as someone desperate to merch and brand himself. Ben comes off as someone waaaay more concerned at the moment w selling every single article of clothing he and his wife has, every single life event he can get a sponsor for.

His image is a bummer ink stain on the MCU. He is like the stuck up boring cousin at the fun family reunion who spends his whole time pouting on his phone. the only time he engages is when he is the absolute centre of attention, and he has to be making cash money off of it or he isn’t interested. he is like that one person at school who won’t shut up about how many haters they have and how jealous everyone is of them, and how he just wants to do him, meanwhile no one is actually thinking about him like that.

Think of any MCU actor and you can think of cute, funny, humble, joyful, REAL feeling fan engagement.

W BC you just get a grown ass man whining, pouting, doesn’t want to be there, would rather be selling shoes and shirts and hats

as a fan i have absolutely no interest in him as an MCU actor. I don’t want to sit there and have my eyes roll out of my head while he either sells me some product or makes some delusional comment about how obsessed, OBSESSED EVERYONE is w him and his family and WHY WON’T THEY JUST LEEEAAAVE HIM AND HIS WIIIFE ALONE (ps please buy these shoes, please buy sophies dress, please check out this vendor that sponsored our wedding, please look at the menu of the person making vegan food for us, please buy the pictures of our kids please please please)

he has moved on from depressing to why don’t you just leave then? honestly?you would rather be throwing yourself all over a red carpet and selling clothing and jewellery and cars and vegan shoes and talking about how hard it is to be you because youre so famous, then go do that. go do period piece after period piece in between selling washing machines. i might even see one.

BC is like getting together w your fav cousins and your mom say you have to take the annoying one along too, and he just ruins your day by complaining about being tired all the time and talking about all the expensive shit his dad in another state buys him

just let us check out fan theory and make memes and talk shit and watch interviews in peace. STFU about the stuff you have for sale. STFU about how obsessed everyone is. go to the met gala, go arrange paps for attention. just GO live the fame life you clearly think you have. let people enjoy MCU shit w out you popping in every few months to remind us that youre here too and SO SO FAMOUS

its getting to kinda ruin MCU shit to me. If i know BC will be involved, im not interested.

Well, you’re right in one regard JT. I wholeheartedly disagree with all of the above. Not because I’m contrary and a SkeptoNanny (which of course I am), but because you’re wrong :P

Ben didn’t do ANY promo for Endgame, so if we’re going to talk about him being a killjoy during promo for MCU projects, we have to revisit what he’s done during Doctor Strange and Infinity War promo.

And while, yes, he did make a faux pas (a pretty major one) with that incredibly stupid quote on his Vanity Fair cover interview where he thought it wise to casually mention his wife and child are not a PR stunt, other than that, his promo tour for Doctor Strange was pretty much the same as any other promo for a standalone superhero movie within the MCU.

And then there was Infinity War promo, which was more about promoting the MCU than it was about promoting himself. I would argue that he actually did a stellar job with that. He even brought quite a bit of DorkyBatch out to play:

I mean...

So yeah. If we’re going to have a serious conversation, we have to be very precise about the timing of what Ben says and does; especially when it comes to MCU promo.

Meanwhile, since you brought up charity projects linked to the MCU, let me remind you that Ben has been involved with those multiple times, through Omaze, and he even did it for Endgame (which he supposedly would have no part in and didn’t really have to do, because his character had already been dusted out of existence).

By the way, the shoes he’s selling are not always vegan. Not the ones he wore to the MET Gala (LINK) anyway :P

my summation + overall thoughts of avengers: endgame

including: what i found wrong with endgame and why i am currently refusing to acknowledge that it happened.

okay i wrote this a while ago but after i never actually got around to posting it so here it is.

first off,, i will once again introduce myself since this account is fairly new. hello, my name is mackenzie, call me mackenzie, or zie or mack or whatever you want. this was originally to be my main acc after i deactivacted all my old tumblrs because i planned to start fresh on tumblr again and after watching endgame for the second time last wednesday, this account became a marvel acc strictly so !! yeah follow me lets be friends !! message me whenever if you wanna talk or cry or anything.

to put it bluntly,, endgame fucking sucked.

endgame was meant to tie everything together. endgame was meant to be this great movie to sum everything up and tie it all together and to just make it make sense in other words.

there was so much hype surrounding endgame, so much pressure, so much excitement.

in my opinion? the joint effort of the writers and the directors managed to ruin it all. they managed to take a movie that was supposed to do so much for the mcu, to tie everything together as a final conclusion to this infinity saga and they blew it all up.

endgame wasn’t a horrible movie, but there were multiple parts that i (and multiple others i know of) did not like and i will be going over it in this post.

it’s not just because of steve’s ending, which i know, i know, i’ve bitching and crying about that for a while on this account. it’s more than just steve’s ending.

this post is a little all over the place but i’ll try to keep my thoughts together the best that i can.

just a disclaimer: UNDER THE CUT I WILL BE TALKING IN DEPTH ABOUT THE EVENTS OF AVENGERS: ENDGAME AND THIS WILL INCLUDE MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE MOVIE SO PLEASE BE WARY. (if you haven’t, seriously where the fuck have you been) BUT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ENDGAME AND DO NOT WISH TO HAVE IT SPOILED PLEASE SCROLL PAST THIS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

okay here we go !! so i made posts before about this but this is gonna just be a big long post about EVERYTHING and i’ll explain everything and why endgame sucked.

originally i had decided to go through scene by scene and talk about each scene but i mean, that’s not really the point of this post and frankly, doing that would probably make this post longer than i want it to be. so i will be focusing on the important scenes. the ones i think are most important to point out and talk about.

as i mentioned above the cut, it’s not just about steve. i know my user is peachrogers and steve rogers has always been my fave avenger. but its more than just steve’s ending and i’ll get into that as we get to it.

i used a transcript while writing this just to help me completely recall everything as it actually was since i don’t consider my memory completely reliable so i linked it if anyone else wants to look at it.

and again, as i mentioned above, i don’t hate everything about endgame. there were parts of endgame i did like and enjoy. tony and nebula playing paper football for example, i thought that scene was very endearing and adorable and carol coming to save them really made me happy.

but at the same time, there were scenes i did not enjoy. and i will be mainly going depth on those scenes since i kinda wanted to just summarize and explain and captalize on why endgame failed at doing the job it was meant to do in tying together these 22 mcu films released in the past 11 years.

so starting at the beginning of the film, after they find thaos and thor chops off his head and they have a five year time skip, we see steve, in a group therapy session.

where steve once again brings up the love of his life and how everyone has to move on. which SPOILER ALERT he doesn’t. this scene, when i first watched i was kinda like whatever, but watching it the second time and watching it now(or even thinking on it), it makes me SO SO mad. pretty sure they kept this scene bc one of the directors is in it. this scene also just makes steve contradict himself since he goes on about how important it is for to move on and yet he just doesn’t even follow his own advice in the end and it aggravates me which i will get into later on.

so skipping to after scott comes out of the time machine van and then steve goes to visit natasha. tbh everytime i watch this scene with natasha and steve, it always just breaks my heart because of the whole:

you know, i keep telling everyone they should move on and… grow. some do. but not us.

(there steve goes again just contradicting himself:(()

and

we both need to get a life.

and i remember reblogging a gif set of nat and steve with the same caption and i just :( bc of where they end up in the end and it’s just its really sad.

seeing tony and pepper with morgan and the fact that tony has finally achieved a level of normalcy where he has his own life with his wife and his child, it’s really nice to see. he definitely deserves it. and i completely understand tony shutting down steve, nat, and scott because he doesn’t want to risk everything especially if it doesn’t work and he ends up losing it. and i totally understood that.

the diner scene where nat, steve, and scott go to talk to bruce about time travel. first off, i just wanna point off how annoying that scene was ?? especially the part with the kids and them not wanting a pic with scott and apparently they only kept that part in bc one of the kids was one of the director’s kids?? there’s just so much wrong with it.

and now i move on to the great marvel cinematic universe version of time travel. which in itself really hardly makes any sense whatsoever since the directors and the writers both contradict each other on how it works. if you’re going to put time travel in your movie, i really feel like everyone should be on the same page on how it works but i mean, that’s just me.

it took me a little bit to understand it bc what the fuck.

the scene where clint,rhodey, bruce, nebula, and scott are discussing how time travel works and rhodey is just naming off all these time movies where time travel works the way that i see it as working(where your past completely changes your future/butterfly effect/chaos theory) and bruce and nebula basically debunk the whole thing and explain it as how changing your past doesn’t change your future and all the whole thing is just bullshit if you ask me. it’s so hard to understand.

okay im not here to argue about time travel. but let me just give some perspective. for me personally, i just see time travel to work like it did in life is strange because it makes more sense. if you change something in the past, that would directly impact your future. if you go in the past and prevent someone from dying, that would not just change the fact that they didn’t die but other factors would be affected too.

and when they brought in the alternate timelines and the “multiverse” it just made things so much more complicated for me.

and i have tried to educate myself more to understand it, i’ve read through multiple posts on the whole time travel thing and i’ve rewatched movies as well to try and understand.

i guess the biggest thing that didn’t sit well with me is just that the directors and writers WHO YOU WOULD ASSUME would bring some clarity and insight on the matter really just brought more confusion and only contradicted each other and i do Not Like it at all.

but i mean who cares about what we want ? it obviously doesn’t mean shit to them.

okay moving on to stony going to the camp lehigh in the 1970s. really i just want to address the scene where steve hides in peggy’s office. you see on her desk that one picture of steve and the picture of her kids and legiT PEGGY WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE OTHER OFFICE HOW DID SHE NOT SEE STEVE WHAT THE FUCK

god idk just thinking about how it was the 1970s and she still thinks about steve who tbh she hardly knew, especially if you compare him to idk daniel sousa ?? and steve saw the picture of her kids and he still was like lol yeah not moving on.

natasha dying okay yeah that was hard to watch. especially since she got nothing for it. tony gets a whole funeral with everyone and yeah ig she got that one moment with the five of them talking about trying to bring her back but that was it and i hate that. natasha deserved more love more attention more recognition way way more than what she got.

i mean it was really nice seeing everyone coming together and fighting and idk it was just everything to see the final fight against thanos.

tony dying, like i definitely did cry and it was sad, but in a way it was okay because he did it for them he did it for everyone.

there was an interview with the writers who said there wasn’t a draft where tony didn’t die and i don’t doubt it because i mean, i think it was needed. i think tony needed to be the one to do it.

and now we get to my favorite part. you know, the worst part of the movie. where steve just ruins everything.

in the process of returning the infinity stones, steve decides to create an alternate timeline with “peggy” and live out his life with her in that timeline while actual steve of that timeline is in ice.

okay listen i was cool with the final dance, i think that was definitely needed and it would’ve been a perfect end for steve to do that and return and idk give up captain america. but instead NO THEY HAVE TO DESTROY ALL OF captain america’s character development, all of peggy carter’s character development, RUIN BUCKY AND JUST RUIN EVERYTHING THAT WASNT OKAY I AM STILL JUST SO UPSET BECAUSE FOR STEVE TO JUST THROW EVERYTHING OUT THE WINDOW AND BE WITH PEGGY IN A DIFFERENT TIMELINE ITS NOT SOMETHING STEVE WOULD DO

we all know that is not something steve would do so it just it killed me and the directors hardly even gave an explanation for it and idk its just its such a let down and im just im not okay with it and i won’t be for a while. steve has always been my favorite avenger and for him to go out like this. its so disappointing, steve rogers deserved a better ending than this.

endgame sucked and its gonna take me a while to accept that endgame actually happened.

endgame thoughts:

soooo that happened I liked it better than I honestly thought I would but there really were a lot of moments of ?????? WHAT???? huh???? so in an attempted but really no particular order

oh clint... you’re still as bland as ever im so sorry

they try soooo hard to make you think tonys gonna die even though we all know he won’t (until later) lol and later they make morgan as cute as possible so it’ll be sad when he does dies

carol and val not being in the second act at all was a bit headscratching like I was figuring they should’ve gotten SOMETHING to do. also carol unfortunately comes off as a deus ex machina bc she always seems to show up right when she’s needed

points for natasha keeping shit running i guess. I appreciated seeing her being vulnerable but at the same something about her felt off idk what like I tried to be invested in her but I still wasn’t. I’m gonna blame previous movies and the fact I don’t like Scarlett for that.

wow killing thanos was easier than expected

hyping up “gay rep” only for it to be a fucking extra was annoying and dude we are waaaayyy past this. I’d rather it wasn’t mentioned beforehand and it was just a mild surprise when watching

Professor Hulk is... something I’m conflicted about. There are some cute/funny moments but it really is not introduced well and its unclear how much of Hulk is still in there. I get that in a stuffed movie like this there’s only so much you can do but... idk I could’ve done with a least a line pre timeskip where Bruce mentions he’s going to talk things out with Hulk or something. I didn’t go in expecting my boy to be done well but c’mon people.

Thor was done dirty and he deserved better. He didn’t deserve mockery over his weight and his trauma. I mean even his mother got in on it yeesh let the poor guy catch a break.

like I get that Tony is marvel’s golden boy who can do no wrong, but having him figure out in one night a concept that was far more likely to be something Bruce should have figured out (since he’s the designated physicist) was... dumb. Bruce should have figured out the theoreticals while Tony was the only person who could figure out how to make his ideas a reality and build the machine so its a group effort. Plot points stay the same but Bruce isn’t dumbed down to make Tony look better.

scotts like the best part of the first act tbh like the emotional moments are great and all but i love him

though honestly Nebula deserves a big shoutout she was probably the best written character in the movie. wish she’s gotten to beat up her “dad” though

time travel makes noooo fucking sense. I was told about it beforehand and was confused but even after watching and having the characters explain it directly they still don’t make sense. its too confusing and it really made the second and third act frustrating to watch when some actions seem okay but others apparently aren’t. You can't take the stones out of time permanently because you risk creating shitty realities but you can go into the past and live out your life there when you were never meant to and change nothing??? huh??? the rules seem to change based on what’s needed for the plot

a lot of things in this plot are contrived actually. plan to collect all the stones going too easily? uhhhhh past nebula uploads present nebulas memories somehow like sure it only kinda makes sense but it sure is convenient for thanos!!!

nat dies and im... sad i guess. i feel bad for not being too sad.

but yeah its annoying how like sure the team seems to be upset that nats gone but most of the lines about it are clints and bruces like she was friends with the others too. also her not getting at least a funeral at the end... hmmph

eeyyyyy Bruce gets his big moment!!! he literally saved the universe! if only the MCU gave a shit about his character so the moment would feel as big as it is despite him accomplishing the entire fucking goal of the movie!!!

aaand thanos coming to rain on the parade

Steve using mjolnir was cool period

peter parker killing people (even if they’re aliens) made me uncomfortable tbh

the all girl lineup moment felt very... self congratulatory... “see we’re totes feminist! we have like ten whole named girl characters!!!”

the whole big battle would’ve been better if playing keep away with the gauntlet was done like the climax of The Great Muppet Caper.

vision... really wasn’t there huh

i won’t lie tonys death was sad but also... couldn’t bruce have just put the gauntlet back on and brought him back (and nat back but from the past? it worked for gamora)???

no one’s talking about how Bruce is the only member of the original 6 who’s an alive active Avenger at the end of the film. Steve’s old, Tony and Nat are dead, clints retired, and thors in space. but bruce is the only one who doesn’t get a scene about what he’s gonna do now?

three movies of thor learning to be responsible thrown out the window just like that

two and a half-ish movies of steve learning to move on thrown out the window just like that

wait we didn’t close with a new team lineup and Sam saying “Avengers Assemble”?

ok I just want to put this up for debate here with unpopular opinions

what I liked

- the avengers theme never fails to pump me up i was fuckin hyped dudes

-fury carol dynamic

-carols determination take no shit attitude in the way that she doesn't even acknowledge it i feel like that takes a lot of strength to not lash out

-i liked the part where she was super apathetic aboit earth and was like wow this sucks

-how she was super willing to help the skrulls and she was really passionate about helping them

what I did not like

-I dont think the opening scene was engaging

-while the soundtrack was lit im not sure it hit the mark i feel like they were trying to give it a gaurdians of the galaxy feel in that aspect and I just kinda feel like it missed it

-basically the whole tessaract thing like let it go also im not sure about this but I dont think it fit the timeline established early on in mcu

-ok can someone explain the cat i love goose but what was he and why was it relevant like yeah comedic relief but like was it necessary

-fury lost his eye to a cat scratch ok i know everyone was joking about it but it was honestly disappointing

-fury just following carol around i know he is 16 yrs younger in this but like it just doesnt make sense to me i feel like he was just comedic relief we dont see character development from him

-from a storyline standpoint like carol doesn't really overcome an issue like yeah she got her memory back she took the inhibitor off of her neck and told intelligence to fuck off but thats about it i didnt see like a profound moment of character development if that makes sense

-why ronan like he was hyped as a main villain but he got five minutes of screen time max and like there was little to no conflict regarding him

-most everything was predictable the only thing not predictable was the skrull being good guys but even though it wasnt my initial prediction it wasnt surprising

-my best friend pointed this out is that she never officially got the name Captain Marvel which I kinda feel like is important when establishing a super hero character

Overall,

-I feel like there were a lot of plotholes and things left unexplained

-some of the plot was kinda disappointing tbh like the cat scratch thing

-I feel like engame is going to be dragged on Carol can defeat thanos is literally five minutes he doesnt have the gauntlet anymore either i also dont think he has a will to like anymore but captain america and iron man are supposed to die so whats up there?shes very overpowered i just feel like it was too much

-Dont get me wrong i was empowered i was super pumped the whole time and im super gay and its so important to have strong female leads like carol or diana i mean look at natasha they did her so dirty. I enjoyed watching it and theorizing the whole time I had a good time and it was easy to watch

Predictions for Endgame

So since Carol is so over powered I think the movie will be just trying to find thanos and the team getting used to and bickering on what to do. I think Tony and Nebula get back to earth bcs carol comes across them are whatever and takes them back. I honestly have no idea how team dynamics will go. I dont know if carol will clash with tony or steve, I feel like steve wont trust her but in Civil War 2 comics steve sides with carol against tony so i have no idea tbh. I think endgame will be kinda predictable and disappointing too i just want my bois back tbh and im still excited but thats my sense so give me your thought and before you day it tumblr im not being mysoginistic Im a lesbian female im just looking at it from a story standpoint and i understand that the movie will be so important for representation to kids especially

i just saw endgame so im gonna TALK about it

first off: endgame good??? to be fair i didnt really have high expectations bc iw was shitty but i actually liked this for the most part

bannerhulk..... literally owns all my uwus. they really went out there and had bruce accept both parts of himself and be happy. when the kids were like HULK!!! he wasn’t embarrassed he was like YEAH!!! SAY GREEN!!! and hes so proud and happy like!!! he really deserves that!!! and just seeing the scene of him riding crosslegged in the back of the truck melted my heart.... i love him SO damn much

BUT!! i was like this is SHIT hes really gone but my roommate reminded me he got the tesseract!!! so that shit really happened bc they brought it back to 1970 so he got it in 2012 and my boy. hes still here. sad that ragnarok wont be part of new timeline lokis growth tho

didnt like them being all haha thor fat tho. that shit was bad and everyone in the theater was really laughin like that was the funniest shit they had ever seen. fuck that part

yes i KNOW the russo brothers dont give a shit about women. i know that. BUT.... the part where all the women gather up on the battlefield really was so good for me

i was surprised at the end that cap gave the shield to sam and not bucky bc thats what we all thought. good for sam tho he deserves that

HOWEVER i thought that scene was hella weird with bucky like “go ahead sam...” like he wasnt friends with steve??? like he was really his best friend since childhood and everything and he was like oh you just go like you know you can BOTH go talk to him right???

cap really was just. so sexy in this. the hammer. the lightning. the scene in the elevator where he says heil hydra??? HES SO DAMN SMART AND HOT PLEASE!!! LET ME GET AT AMERICAS ASS!!!

also. i got REAL heated during the time travel talk for two reasons:

one: bruce was acting like he knew the rules of how time travel worked and what they should/shouldnt do. the whole POINT was that they werent sure how it would turn out like HUH

two: they really named off like 30 time travel movies. and they didnt include 13 going on 30. come ON that would have been funny. and you cant tell me that it would be a paradox bc of mark ruffalo bc in those 30 movies and the huge cast of the mcu theres no way there isnt any crossover of actors

and because we all hated it: joe russo you really should choke you want us all to suck your dick bc gAy rEpREseNtATiOn1!!! but your cameo was just bad

also idk i just thought it was really funny during tonys funeral that the kid from iron man 2 or whatever was just like. there. like i dont remember what he looks like i had to think back so hard like who the FUCK is this random dude

anyway heres a rough outline of my thought process thru the movie from what i can remember

a dude walked in wearing a justice league shirt and it was the biggest power move of the evening

rip heimdall u truly were the hottest bitch in the mcu

i already saw the spoilers that loki died but im still in mourning. my chaotic twink son :( also him tearing up when thor was getting tortured was like, possibly, one of the worst things to happen to me this evening. and his “you will never be a god” and “we will see the sun rise again yet, brother” like i’d rather be dead.

i know marvel has been trying to make me care about pepper and tony for like.... the entirety of the mcu and in theory i enjoy it but in reality i just heavily do not care

walked into this w out watching dr strange bc i refuse to so seeing him was very unpleasant for me :/

the second that one fuckin... servant of thanos guy showed up that tony called squidward i just burst into fucking laughter bc oh my fucking god. he looks like one of the star wars prequels aliens. i didnt know how i was supposed to react to that??? what the fuck????? kin?

tbh the effects in this movie were really fucking gorgeous like.... all the different planets’ scenery was so goddamn beautiful. like idk how to spell it so im not gonna attempt but the planet that gamora died on was literally so fucking pretty i was stunned into a silence what the FUCK was that beautiful nonsense

not enough steve and bucky interaction bc marvels personally out to get me, a known gay

also while there was a good amount of fighting i rlly appreciated that it wasnt All Fighting and just there to show off that they had cool special effects. like.... it was mostly story and for someone who doesnt give a shit abt action sequences it was v relieving that i didnt have to parse through 2 and a half hours of watching someone do cool but impractical stunts

man idc abt wanda and dont like mcu natasha bc of the actress but when that chick was like “youll die alone” and natasha said “shes not alone” and then kicked ass i rlly just. hm. thats lesbian.

anyone else agree that when strange said mournfully that there was only one outcome and then said that giving up the time stone was the only way, its basically just telling us that this was all planned and it Will work out fine bc he knew that this was the one path that would lead to them winning. like..... im at least 99% sure thats whats going to happen, here.

steve and bucky may have said 2 sentences to each other but steve reaching out to grab a handful of buckys ashes w a stricken look was literally the worst moment of my entire life and i plan to sue marvel for emotional damages bc that was fucking terrible and i cannot BELIEVE they made me watch that idc if bucky comes back im fuckin pissed

also thats literally every team iron man member to realize that the accords were bullshit and if its 2018 and u still think the accords were right/a good thing i honestly do not know what to tell you

fuckin..... im lookin at captain marvels powers and shes cool and all but hows she gonna save all this........ now im even more curious abt what her movies gonna bring like ???? hello??????

also the only time the theater clapped or cheered was when steve showed up and literally same

i know all the dust ppl r coming back but alsof uc kin......... that was brutal

idk i dont have much 2 add im very sleepy but

i liked it a lot and im excited for the next movie. there were some things that i thought were in poor taste but like..... thats what i expect from every marvel movie, so. im pleasantly surprised by how good this was. idk why but during it it kinda like.... it had the same vibes as return of the king????? like i dont know Why but it has a very.... lotr movie feel to it. but w the staple marvel jokes. idk how to feel about that. i think its good? im not sure. get back to me in a few days after the movie highs worn off and if i still like it then its got my stamp of approval.

Full Avengers Infinity War Review (Broken down into spoiler free, mildly spoilerish, and extremely spoiltt[after the page break dw] sections)

Spoiler-Free:

Initial thoughts: what. the absolute. fuck. How can one movie tear my soul apart like this?? And the end credit scene?? Holy shit so many mixed emotions I’m having trouble processing this holy shit what the fuck

After calming down slightly: there has been a clear change in the tone of marvel movies as they moved from their angsty teen goth phase to their wine aunt I don’t give a fuck phase. I went into this film thinking the tonal shift between comic relief characters and more angsty characters would have been harsh and abrasive but for the most part it was actually very smooth, it gave us a more complex look at otherwise two dimensional characters and added a bit of lightness to an otherwise heavy film

The back and forth between different groups of characters till their inevitable union at the end was smooth and kept the plot moving forward at a reasonable pace

The pace was actually so fast, but not an unfollowable fast, it felt as if the movie somehow morphed time in our world, what felt like half an hour to me was actually the entire duration of the movie

And holy shit the lighting!! The cinematography!! The CGI!! It wasn’t dark and hardly viewable even on the big screen! There were so many beautifully lit scenes(albeit there were some murky dark scenes that reminded me of the old avanegers movies) they really took a page out of Thor Ragnorak and Black Panthers book because the fight scenes (of which there were many) were so incredible and dramatic and full of emotion!

But honestly, so much of it was shocking and unexpected that there were moments where it didn’t feel even remotely real in the out-of-body experience type of way.

Mildly spoilerish but no real details:

The trailer actually threw us some curve balls. I generally avoid trailers because I believe they give away too much but the few stills that I did see were actually very misleading and as I’m writing this I’m thinking that they might actually be hints to the events of Avengers 4????

There was so much loss, with such a huge cast and such a daunting and powerful villain (that was teased for like 13 movies) it was completely inevitable but each loss hit so hard it’s hard to process it. And there are characters that we still don’t know the fate of and it’s killing me that I have to wait an entire year for the next part.

Related side note: you know the Russo brothers are sick of mcu’s bullshit when a character literally says “no resurrection this time” after a death jfc I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time

FULL SPOILERS LIKE IM GONNA GO INTO SPECIFIC EVENTS OF THE MOVIE(be warned I get incoherent bc I’m still so emotional):

Holy. Shit. Literally wide cut to the opening scene where thanos has literally murdered HALF OF ASGARD and in the first five minutes he’s murdered Loki (see: above reference to no resurrection) and heimdall (there goes MatPats theory about the soul stone) I’ve never had a movie shake me to my core this quickly. Before heimdall dies he uses his final moments to send hulk back to earth where he spends the rest of the movie as banner bc hulk is throwing a teenage temper tantrum and banner has erectile dishulktion like bitch get your shit together when did hulk become poorly timed comic relief.

Skipping forward a bit because I’m not gonna recap the entire movie; when the guardians find Thor in the wreckage of the asgardian ship it was honestly the best thing ever. Drac literally describes Thor as a cross between an angel and a pirate all while fat shaming quill oh my god it was amazing and I’m so incredibly sad we lost him

SPEAKING OF HEARTBREAKING DEATHS PETER PARKER YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!!!

The way he clings to tony at the end and just keeps saying he doesn’t want to go oh my god that absolutely broke me

And then there were the simpler deaths like Bucky who just says “Steve” EHICH IM PRETTY SURE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME HE SAYS STEVE SINCE BECOMING THE WINTERSOLDIER HOLY SHIT MY EMOTIONS

Holy shit I can’t explain in words to you the emotions I felt when t’challa reaches for Okoye and says “this is no place to die” then his hand just crumbles away along with the rest of him and the rest of my heart (SIDE NOTE BLACK PANTHER DID SO WELL IN THE BOX OFFICE HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA KILL OFF THE LEAD?? DOES THIS MEAN NO BLACK PANTHER 2??)

and dear god help me the end credit scene how the hell are you gonna kill off Maria Hill and Nick Fury in the fucking END CREDITS???

There was literally a collective gasp in my theatre as Fury started fading away

Buttt the captain marvel reference at the very end!!! Our girl carol danvers is gonna be in the next avengers!! (We need her they killed off so many female characters lord give me strength to overcome this adversity in the face of lack of diversity)

OkAy coming back from all the death let’s talk about the fact that throughout the film Thor calls Rocket “rabbit” and never once gets corrected??? It was honestly one of my favourite things

And Thor trying to relate to Gamoras fucked up family by telling her about his and quill getting jealous it was so cute I loved their dynamic.

Vision and Wanda’s relationship felt so natural, their chemistry was fucking fantastic and their final scene together where Wanda gave in to the inevitable and had to destroy the mind stone and vision along with it holy shit that entire scene was so incredibly heart breaking with the way vision kept saying it’s alright over and over again till his final moments. They had a chance to be a normal couple living happily in Scotland away from everything, they could had had it all and it was torn from them so savagely.

And as I’m writing this I’m realizing that none of this makes sense. How could they kill off half the cast especially so many fan favourites and so many characters whose contracts don’t expire anytime soon?? So on tooo:

Okay so why would doctor strange give thanos the time stone in exchange for Tony’s life? Why would he give up the thing that he has sworn his life to protecting and essentially sentence billions of beings to save the life of one that was not guaranteed to survive? None of that makes sense unless the one out of 14 million alternate futures he saw involved all of this happening and then somehow being reversed??

At the end of the movie we see a burnt out gauntlet implying that it can no longer be used but what if the individual stones can still be used? What if they’re still able to turn back time and bring back those they’ve lost?

This theories got a bunch of holes and it definitely wouldn’t make sense to bring back the entire roster but after a quick google search Holland, Pratt and the rest of the guardians, Boseman, and Cumberbatch all have marvel movies coming out in the next few years so really nothing is real death is a lie and I feel nothing 🙃 .

but he doesn’t believe that so he’s just going to keep being sarcastic to cover up for the fact that he doesnt think any of this had almost anything to do with him and everthing to do with peter

bc he has no concept of his own self-worth and yet to contrast that he directly inflates it and is so used to ppl disregarding it and accusing him of having an ego that even in this moment when he does something really amazing he makes it about his fake-ass ego and doesn’t let anyone actually give him credit for anything bc he is too busy giving himself fake-credit that he uses as an excuse in every other scene to call himself a piece of shit,,, that other ppl use to call him that bc ppl cant see through it bc he doesnt actually WANT anyone looking too closely, and yet, in this scene, he seems to be using it to exempt peter from actually acknowledging what he did was good bc hahaha im a self-congratulatory egomaniac

also he is sad, he wants peter to stay with him, but he lets it go bc he recognizes it was the mature choice (and probably not the one he’d ahve made)
