i see so many posts going around that are like "reblog if you want more asks", "reblog if its ok to come into your dms and start a friendship", "reblog if you want people to tag you in random stuff they think you would like" and its like. you gotta do those things my guy.

if you want people to do those things for you, reblogging a post probably isnt going to make them more likely to do it, especially not in the long term. they might see that post and do it right then while they are thinking about it, but a few posts down their dash and they're not gonna remember who reblogged that post and who didnt.

what they will remember, is the person who comes into their inbox every day just. telling them what they're up to, or asking how their day was, or rambling about something they've been thinking about recently

they'll remember the person who always reblogs their art and makes a comment about how good it is or how much they like the lighting or the shading or the colours

they'll remember the person who tags them in posts that they found funny or interesting

and they'll be much more likely to do those things in return because they'll begin to associate you with those things, and they'll know they won't be bothering you if they do it in return because you are always doing it to them!

i just. i know this is the autism website and we are all socially awkward, but with the amount of notes those kinds of posts get i think its safe to say that most of the userbase on here wants to interact with their mutuals more. so interact!! push yourself!! it gets easier with practice i promise, and you never know what kinds of friendships you'll end up forming. its worth it!!

and i know im a massive hypocrite because i reblog those posts too, but ive been trying to make more of an effort recently and it has really been paying off. if i can do it, you can do it.

There are some posts I've seen floating around that at the start Dazai may not of known that Chuuya wasn't a vampire which I kind of agree with. I'm at work currently so I cant double check but when he goes "that's a nasty trick you've pulled fydor" im pretty sure its in his thoughts?? To which why would he think that if he knew the whole time. I think dazai must of caught onto the fact Chuuya was faking it at somepoint but not sure when that would of been. Also at the end of the ep Dazai said he didn't have a plan. (I did watch the episode at just after 2am my time when it came out and then fell asleep afterwards so my memory could be not correct). I do think chuuya not being a vampire at all is a little disappointing tbh but this idea softens the blow. Would like to know your thoughts on this idea if you are open to sharing?

I'm in that category too, yes. I've left a few tags saying basically the same thing on some posts.

First, there are a few things the anime didn't answer (more than failing to justify Chuuya faking it since the start, there's Sigma's case about needing to help the ADA, which... didn't happen at all) so either we haven't seen the repercussions of this arc yet, or we got the shortened version of what the manga will offer. Which could work either way. (not ideal necessarily, but besides huffing what can we do huh)

Dazai not knowing though! Dazai did admit to his "plan" being to mostly adapt on the fly and trust his allies to help him back. He implied this prison break was one big trust fall. But that's how I've always interpreted Dazai's way of planning! I even made a post about it a full year ago!

Since Dazai knows Chuuya slowed down the elevator (which I can accept, Dazai's ability shouldn't affect random objects he touches, and Fyodor had told Chuuya through a comm to go finish off Dazai because he wasn't in the room), I assume that by then he was aware. Maybe not before though. Definitely not at first. Because this?

I refuse to believe was entirely scripted. Why is he acting? For Sigma? For corpses? I'm of the opinion that no matter what is going on through Dazai's head, his expressions are always genuine (ex: he might react with surprise at something he completely expected, if only because of how sudden it was, or when/how it ended up happening. Here? genuine distress.)

And I extend that feeling to Dazai having an emotional moment, complete with flashbacks, while "drowning" Fyodor and Chuuya. He did say he wasn't expecting to kill them that way, but perhaps it really was a moment of weakness triggered by concern or guilt.

I can accept Dazai having caught on during his face-off with Chuuya. That's Mr I-know-your-breathing-patterns we have here, so if they didn't high-five after the elevator crash-landing (still broke Dazai's leg), I would say Dazai knows physics enough to go "hold on" and connect the dots. So yes, that baiting of Chuuya, the light taunting, the bratty attitude he only really has with Chuuya, the angry YELLING and insults when Chuuya shot him in the shoulder? The destiny talk? Yeah I can re-contextualize those as Dazai over-acting his part. And then not being able to shut up after being shot in the head.

Maybe there's some reaching here, maybe this will not be totally accurate to the source material. But Asagiri does have a habit to write scenes from an outsider pov while knowing whats happening in the characters' heads and behind the scene, but then not give us that input directly. Never before today was it confirmed that Dazai improvises a lot in his plans. And yet! That's something I've believed in for a very long time.

This all could very well be covering Asagiri's poor decisions, but between this being the adaptation and bsd being an unfinished story, I have a hard time deciding at the moment how much of a poor decision this was. Maybe it's worth a raised eyebrow. Maybe it deserves some criticism in hope the author takes notes. Maybe this was an anime-original resolution due to time constraints (think of the Fifteen final fight). I can only raise concerns for now, and wait.

sending this ask is like hand-feeding me crack cocaine. I WILL utilize this invitation i will tell you this man’s fucking life now. under the cut because this gets extremely long but tl;dr for anyone else: Igsi is my angry dog coded character who hates authority and will NOT respect gods (even though he ends up dating one)

OKAY so to start off. Igsivalitaq “Igsi” Anderson is a guy from my original story Ittuatuq and I’ve written a few things for it but I never actually wrote anything with him, though I should Really Change That. he’s one of the main antagonists in the second book/season (I section off Ittuatuq into books/seasons cuz im insane), but over time he becomes part of the main protagonist cast instead.

so, backstory: Igsi grew up in Iqaluit, Nunavut. He lives with his mother and father, but also an anthropologist named Roland Lawrence who’s lived there most of Igsi’s life(not important now but later), and as he grew up he started getting into trouble with authority, even at a young age. at first it started with petty domestic stuff, like acting out for attention at home or teasing classmates, but over time it started really escalating into getting into trouble with the law with crimes like theft, trespassing, underage drinking cuz of good ol undiagnosed mental illness. he specifically starts running into trouble with one RCMP officer in particular, Officer Nakasuk.

so, Igsi obviously starts to form a grudge against him, and he starts to repeatedly antagonize the Officer specifically. in turn, the Officer and Igsi’s parents set him up with the Officer’s mother, who we just call Mentor. the Mentor starts Igsi on a very spiritual path towards healing and also lowkey teaching him about being a whole ass angakkuq in the hopes that this makes him stop being such a troubled kid. and while Igsi does actually get very, very interested in traditional spirituality and does end up liking the mentor and wanting to be a full-fledged angakkuq, his troubles with the law still get worse.

this all REALLY comes to a head just after he turns 18. the night Igsi gets released after a gruelling inpatient treatment that really left him frustrated, he and the Officer really come to a head. theyre alone and it’s a dark winter so they’re really saying like the shittiest things possible. one thing leads to another, Officer Nakasuk threatens Igsi with a stun gun, Igsi’s frustrations of being treated like shit for his entire life for things he never got Actual help for while being consistently incarcerated by the people who have authority over him finally overflows, and… oops! Igsi utilizes his angakkuq power andddd the Officer is dead.

THIS is where the dog coding really kicks in because it’s like. oh my god, he killed a person. he has fought and injured people, yes, but he has never actually killed someone. and he’s an adult, there is no juvie waiting for him, its Real Prison, and while he has hated the Officer for breaking his community apart, he’s still law enforcement. this shit is going to ruin him. so… he runs! he runs away with practically zero preparation, into the very dangerous tundra wilderness in the dead of winter. and he essentially just becomes a stray dog, living on scraps while a part of him desperately wishes he could return home and curl up in the lap of his parents, but he KNOWS he can’t do that.

but at the same time he refuses to believe that what he did was wrong. that he’s done what should have been done long ago, that he DESERVED to bite the way he did, because goddamn it, he was horribly oppressed by a system that was created to subjugate people like him, and he will never be the boy he was again, and isnt that enough to prove it was worth it? its during this exile that he really feels dejected by the entire world, from controlling human society and uncaring spiritual society, that he’s like Fuck it, whatever happens to me, i dont care, i will never follow anyone’s orders ever again.

anyway. hes about to die in the tundra due to hypothermia (lmao) when he encounters a spirit made of flame. this spirit is a tuurngaq, an auxiliary spirit that angakkuit can bond their souls to and gain extraordinary power, named Paliq. Paliq is a whole other can of worms lol but essentially, the two of them have very similar ideals in regards to authority and being controlled, so they make a deal: they can bond, Paliq will keep Igsi warm and protect him from then on, but in return Igsi cannot treat Paliq like a regular tuurngaq and they must act like a team, not with no orders or subordinates. which Igsi is like okay yeah perfect.

this however does Not solve the fact that Igsi is wanted and also starving OOPS. so one way or another, Igsi ends up returning to Iqaluit, and obviously he’s fucking arrested. and while Igsi and Paliq are planning to find a way to escape and leave the country (its a terrible plan), guess what. it’s that fucking anthropologist in the beginning didn’t expect THAT. and he’s like Listen Igsi. youre a good man if a bit misguided. I can get you out of this situation to the best of my ability, but in return you have to tell me about what your mentor has taught you, and also tell me about your new friend. because turns out, while this anthropologist joined Igsi’s family to study poverty and culture in Inuit families, he ended up getting really obsessed with the “lost” art of traditional angakkuit so now he wants access to it.

Igsi agrees, the court proceedings go surprisingly well bc Lawrence has the money to provide Igsi with a good lawyer, and Igsi gets off with manslaughter. so he still does time but like, better than second degree. and while Igsi has obviously lost the trust from his Mentor for killing her son, he still has a lot of angakkuit knowledge that he starts to provide for Lawrence, and while Lawrence is very careful to make the whole transaction seem very equal bc they’ve known each other for so long and he knows Igsi’s deal with authority, he basically has Igsi on a leash and is using him as a working dog isnt that FUCKED. I love it.

this goes on until “present day” in the story (which actually takes place in 2030 cuz im insane), where Igsi is finally off of prison. and Lawrence is like hey I’ve got word from two reputable angakkuuk (the protagonist’s, Piqati’s, parents) that theres actually a super small hamlet in the middle of buttfuck nowhere where a living god resides and is basically a bastion for power and spirits. come with me and we can go there and you can basically do whatever the fuck you want there forever and i get to pursue my studies (unlimited power but Igsi doesn’t know that). and Igsi is like Fuck Yeah let’s go.

SO. NOW HES LOOSE. he enters Ittuatuq and immediately starts antagonizing the fuck out of everyone in there, but especially Piqati and his friends. WHICH IS INSANE. BC THEYRE 18 YEARS OLDS WHO ARE STILL IN SCHOOL and at this point Igsi is 24 it’s like. he’s beefing with high schoolers and he’s very pathetic about that. But what i reallyyyy wanna focus on is his interaction with a certain character: Airaq, the VERY beloved bear deity of Ittuatuq.

HIS DYNAMIC WITH AIRAQ IS SOOO. RRAUURAGH if you love dog coding and religious doubt then this is it this is the place. at first Igsi starts pursuing Airaq because he’s kind of very into the whole challenge of getting with a deity and the fact that Airaq seems so pure and beloved on the outside. so it starts out with very casual flings and hook ups, but over time as the plot moves on Igsi starts getting really attached to Airaq and it’s like. oh shit. now all of a sudden he feels himself getting wrapped around a god’s finger, instinctively doing what Airaq says (the whole fucking “call your dog off” dynamic), and oh god, is this going against his ideals? what does it mean that he’s falling in love with a god?

so yeah. dog metaphors, religious metaphors, and crazy insane power dynamics all about. also stupid crazy faggot sex but thats not what you asked for and i wont embarrass myself elaborating here LMAO.

OKAY THIS GOT VERY LONG. and i could honestly do this for hours but this is, believe it or not, just a brief overview of him and i barely even got into the main plot. if you or anyone who is reading this wants anything more specific then please feel free to ask and ill go even deeper. god i really need to actually start writing him cuz im obsessed with him genuinely.

okay, its This Post if you want to go look, but I'm not going to reply on the thread cause I have writing to do tonight and, like I said, yelling at a brick wall does no good. But I WILL take the opportunity to point out a couple things that are common mistakes online during discourse and how you can manipulate a response.

Under a cut because most people don't find examining fallacy and post analysis interesting.

To start, here's all responses of the thread in a simplified form:

Post about voting against Trump

Post from Ohsalome supporting OP with a reference to a commonly heard complaint about Biden (that he is supporting Israel)

Post supporting OP, with a reference to a statement from Trump about creating a dictatorship.

Post supporting OP, talking about the dangers of Trump globally.

Post about the use of Russian misinfo in 2016, discouraging voting and dividing progressives from more moderate dems. Also that it is visible today about Gaza.

Me, supporting OP, and #5, acknowledging the existence of nuance, and adding reminders of Trump being awful.

Quote of someone's tags in support of people voting

Arabian Knight shifts tone and topic, sounding more like Trump, and throws out a lot of directionless insults at the rest of the thread.

Arabian Knight again, misquoting #2, turning a statement into a scare quote that they use to expand on their insults.

Anathema comes in, loudly outraged by the quote Arabian Knight presented in #9, claiming it came from Ohsalome in #2

Wet Paint arguing for people to vote in a primary against Biden (there is no primary btw, this is not an option) and then tagging me and my quote, to claim that I think American lives are worth more than Palestinian lives.

So. That's an excellent example of how fast online conversation can be derailed by one person, and how misquotes and misrepresentations can invent a new conversation and scandal.

Fast analysis version: Arabian Knights changed the quote - maliciously or not - Anathema only reacted to the last post, with the false quote. Now in an emotionally charged setting, Wet Paint responded emotionally, colored by the anger of Anathema and Arabian Knight's posts.

Slower version:

High in the thread is Ohsalome who (Im not tagging folks in, do not do so for me) references a hypothetical argument against Biden. They don't say a specific source, bc its a simplified version of the hyperbolic complaint that shows up on a lot of posts lately. "he is murdering palestinian babies" Many progressives are rightly horrified by Biden supporting Israel, and don't know how to square that with voting for him. To me, that's a fairly clear and obvious generalization by Ohsalome, ymmv. Highlighted below.

In response to Ohsalome, Arabian Knight abbreviates the hypothetical quote, reducing it to just the phrase Palestinian Babies, and places quotes around only those two words. Yes, those are words that Ohsalome said, but you should basically never trust a tiny quote if someone is hinging an argument on it. That change turns it from a hypothetical quote from someone talking about why you wouldn't vote for Biden, and implies that Ohsalome themself was using scare quotes and doubting the existence of Palestinian Babies killed in the attacks on Gaza. That is not what it says or implies. It is a manipulation by Arabian Knight (statistically, this wasn't intentional manipulation, just tumblr's reading comprehension fails) But by putting that cherry picked phrase in quotes, it shifted the meaning and tone of the entire thread.

Then they bring in the accusations - and to be fair if Ohsalome DID claim that the dead in Palestine were fake, that would be super fucked up - and Anathema jumps in to back them up, responding exclusively to a misrepresented quote, not the original, and not the context of the original. They're specifically mad about quotation marks implying that there are no dead Palestinian babies, which - Again - were placed as scare quotes by Arabian Knight, not Ohsalome.

Anathema then takes another step to move the argument into emotions and morals by citing their own reaction to images they have seen.

See how fast it's turned into emotions? You already know that pivoting into emotions is a super effective way to manipulate someone. In this case, it took a post about hey, we really gotta prevent Trump winning, and made it into whether those people therefore, personally support murdering babies. You make that jump with emotion. Anything else, and people notice it.

Now.

I got tagged into this despite getting skipped by the misquote kefuffle. Here's what the new contender, Wet Paint, said, and the grab of what I'd said in my response.

Long story short, Kym always finds very over reaching and strange about driver bodies, but last year he really went over and above by posting a photo of George and tagging the weight loss company jenny Craig right over his visible ribs. While he’s obviously making a joke, its a fuckin cruel one and if you see the comments on the post its hundreds similarly pointing out just how creepy his original captions and tags are (and hundreds of others moaning ‘it’s just a joke, we all wish we could look like that’- which just illustrates the danger of these kinds of jokes).

We all know how bad driver body image is, by nature of being his fan im especially aware of George’s- he doesnt exactly love being that thin, but its required of him to remain within weight limits for the car. He’s said more than one genuinely alarming thing about his body weight just have to grit through because these guys… they aren’t gonna change. But It’s a cruel thing to point at laugh at someone’s body being a shape they dont want, even if you do it under the guise of ‘oh its a compliment’

But beyond the drivers kym has a sizeable following and it just serves to glorify these extremely uncommon bodies to the public and go ‘you- you have to look like that or you’re not doing it right’. It’s awful, it’s gag inducing, and then he just pimps his website under it. It’s the exact kind of awful tabloid slime we dont want in f1, especially not inside the paddock.

It appears thankfully, the caption may have been altered and tags have now been removed when i went back to grab a new screenshot (couldn’t source the original), but the jist of the awful byline and comments pointing it out remain.

I’m not looking to talk about this further because I have my OWN weight loss problems, and this kinda stuff doesnt really feel good, but its a story worth reminding people of so they know WHY some of us are so pointed about not using Kyms photos unless you have to, and removing credit when you do. Don’t give him any advertisement.

hi sorry just speaking up on account of fun personal knowledge regarding the ask sayinng ypu should get a typewriter and your tags on said post . my personal favorite beginner level typewriters are smith-coronas, theyre user-friendly and relatively easy to maintain in my eyes. id honestly recommend looking for an electric rather than a manual for your first typewriter - its very different from writing on a modern day computer keyboard, and electrics do a relatively good job of easing you in . the keyboards are more similar to your blocky, 90s-tech keyboards you see out in the wild . my first electric was a smith-corona coronet super12 and honestly its one of the best typewriters i own; the quality is stellar, shes comfortable with me, she actually Likes Being Typed on .

manual typewriters are beasts. theyre often angry if you are not the owner theyve always known (speaking of this - a good place to look for typewriters are estate sales . usually you're lookjng at 20-50usd for a functional typewriter at an estate sale, compared to 100+ at an antique shop or online). but yes manual typewriters are angry creatures . they fight you on everything. my first manual was a hermes3000 in a light powder blue and honestly this typewriter does not like me i think. most typewriters you find out in the wild are going to need a little work - new ribbon, a nice deep clean - but will be relatively functional (esp, again, at estate sales. ppl dont usually keep broken shit). manuals are fussy and will probably want a little more out of you . my hermes needs a full realignment and more than a few of the keys stick . not optimal for your first typewriter .

most importantly - and something they dont tell you when you first start using typewriters, cough - manuals take A LOT OF FORCE TO PRESS THE KEYS. more than you are expecting. it is not like your hp or your mac or dell or alienware or whatever - you have to WORK to type on a manual. i was typing with just my index fingers for the first few months i owned my hermes because i physically couldn't 1) get a feel for the keyboard and 2) press down on the keys comfortably with my other fingers. it hurt after a little while .

that being said, owning a manual is an extremely fun little knickknack to show off. double points if its functional and you actually put it to some use . typewriters are one of those things that get better the more you use them ; you kind of have to break them in, and more use means theyre easier to work with. electrics are similar but are often more forgiving . all this to say that a manual is worth it if youre willing to make the commitment. theyre fun to use . make you feel like a 1940s office worker .

as far as actually writing goes, all manuals and early electrics are not going to have any sort of backspace functionality. honestly i think its rlly helped with being deliberate about what words im using. you can get correction tape (obviously) but it feels a little bit different . i think it helps with just getting ideas onto paper concisely .

no matter what kind of typewriter you get (if any at all) the most important thing is going to be the user manual, whether you actually have the original paper copy or a scanned version youve found online. understanding your typewriter is like reading a recipe. its important to know what each button does and how to use it . if you grew up learning typing on a computer you do not know how to use a typewriter ; youll be able to type but probably not much more . instructions are your best friend . your typewriter is an animal .

typewriters need a little more love in the world . i highly recommend looking around at garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores if youre interested in owning or using one, theyre honestly such an efficient and modernly-under-appreciated piece of technology that really revolutionized the world . thanks for allowing me to ramble i hope this isnt too unwanted

oh this is so informational thank you!! I know next to nothing about typewriters except what they look like and that they make the nice clicky noises. I don't know if I'll ever get one, but if I do it's not gonna be for a few years just because money + I'd wanna set that up and have a nice space for it once I'm living in my own place, and atm I'm still in the 'post college graduate living with parents' phase of my life.

that's really good to know about electric vs manual typewriters though!! I'd probably get an electric for my first one because I rely so heavily on my typing speed. typing stuff on my laptop is muscle memory at this point so I'd be very annoyed if my typing was super heavily impaired on a typewriter. I do know the manual ones take a lot more effort to push down. I've encountered them at antique stores before and have tried to type a tiny bit and it's definitely a challenge

i have found, and i am in no way an authority but believe this is the general consensus, that unless you run a gimmick blog here on tumblr, the process of accruing followers, notes and reblogs on original work, is extremely slow compared to other websites.

i started this blog almost exactly seven years ago. thats seven years of posting three (more recently two) prompts every day. i don't think ive ever taken a hiatus longer than three months, and there have only been two or three of those. im not saying you have to put that much work in or wait that long, just that if youre asking me youre asking someone who went through all that to get to 25k followers (who say nice things and who i love). and! a lot of that was luck! talented people noticing the prompts and answering them, or that one popular octopus post from my now defunct writing blog.

i hope that all didn't sound disheartening. what I REALLY wanted to say is that if you want to get your posts seen, its going to take time and consistency, unfortunately, plus the things youre already doing. and! (hopefully this is the uplifting part) i think that it IS worth it!

tumblr for all its many faults can be a place of genuine community, which you personally get to curate. no one is trying to sell you anything, and personally, i appreciate the authenticity that adds to the experience.

its the wild west out here, it can be hard to get your stuff seen, but time and consistency will win out. luck many even give you a boost, sooner or later. its also fine if that's not for you. if you'd rather look for a better way to get a lot of eyes on your writing fast, thats totally cool! but again, tumblr probably isn't the place to expect it.

if you want to keep trying, keep trying! keep making your stuff (making stuff just to make stuff can be a good experience, but i think its important to be seen too, ddw)! time. consistency.

That got him through his first month of summer in Cambridge, providing nighttime distractions to the guys who didn’t go home for break, for the friends of those guys in Boston, for the friends of those friends and the acquaintances of those others. But it wasn’t until he fucked Roy Cobb that it was ever suggested he make a website to advertise his services.

“If you Harvard brats were as smart as you say you are you’d be doing more than getting passed around the same group of assholes all summer,” the other man had said, pulling up his sweatpants as David watched him with a raised brow, skin cooling down from its violent flush and ass as raw as ever. Cobb wasn’t a student at Harvard, but he knew guys who were, and as such knew that for the right price he could get David to come out to this moderately priced hotel room for a whirlwind Saturday night fuckfest. David had never been a working man himself, but he understood these were the kind of weekend getaways that needed actual saving up for, and as such he was obliged to let Cobb speak to him however he liked. Even if the guy hadn’t proved to be the most long lasting screw he’d ever had. 

“Is that so?” he’d drawled, wishing absently for a cigarette.

Cobb perched a pair of Unabomber-esque reading glasses over the bridge of his nose as he sat against the edge of the bed. “Do you want to be a big fish in a small pond?”

David smirked, easing himself across the mattress until he could lay his head against the other man’s clothed thigh. “What kind of fish do you want me to be?” he asked coyly, gazing up at the unamused man with lidded eyes.

“You’re worth more than $500 bucks a pop,” Cobb answered, undeterred by David’s antics, even as he reached to comb a hand through his mussed curls. “And I think you know it.”

Humming, David moved into the touch. “Even if I was, I don’t think I’m going to do much better than that given the current state of my clientele being college boys eating off daddy’s money.”

“That’s what I’m saying,” Cobb said irritably, giving his hair a tug. “Do you know The Social Network?”

Rolling his eyes, David huffed. “I’m familiar with the work of David Fincher, yes.”

“Well, you know in that movie when they move Facebook to Stanford?” he prompted annoyingly, as though David hadn’t been made to watch the fucking movie by everyone he’d come across in the last few years who knew he was bound for Harvard. “That’s because they wanted to be seen by the right people.”

Breathing in a deep breath, David reached to brush an errant speck of dust from the other man’s cheek. “You’re saying I need to transfer to Stanford?”

“You need a website,” Cobb clarified, accepting the touch without a thought. “You should be seen by the right people.”

The laugh startled out of him as fast as anything, and he bent into it gratefully, finding it the most genuine expression he’d had in almost a month. “Oh, really?” he’d pressed, more curious than anything else at the way Cobb just looked unerringly down at him. “Are you going to make it for me?”

Cobb shrugged. “That’s what I do.”

“Really?”

“Development, design,” Cobb said easily, his face blank behind his glasses. “It’s my passion.”

David had been stunned by his generosity. “You’d do that for me?”

“Well,” he’d trailed off, using his grip on David’s hair to turn his face into the burgeoning bulge in his crotch. “For a price.”

It had ended up being a more productive weekend than he had expected, the two of them on the bed before Cobb’s laptop as he divulged more about his sexual proclivities than he’d ever shared with another person before. It would have honestly been halfway sexy if Cobb had not been as clinical with it as he would be speaking with any other potential client. By the end David had been presented with a discrete, classy looking interface describing him as every old, rich closet-case's wet dream, and after a quick hook-up with a reputable but moderately priced photographer he had a miniature faceless portfolio of risque pictures to match. 

David had the sense of a door opening, but what was behind it was something he really couldn’t guess. 

His first date with a man he officially considered to be a client had been with a man named Michael who ran a hedge fund. He had booked a room for them and paid for a long, long night with an envelope embossed with creamy, silvery initials stamped in the center. The sex itself was not anything particularly memorable, but David found the longer he did it the easier it became to do things he’d never done before, and for the very first time he’d been asked to get on top. Finding that he liked it just the same wasn’t even the wildest revelation of the night, as he found that Michael had perused his site carefully and had taken note of the things David would be willing to do, seeming to almost take it as a challenge to have him do nearly all of them.

If he hadn’t considered himself experienced before he certainly did in the light of the dawn: bruised, sore in good and bad ways, skin tacky with fluids. He had pressed his mouth to the seal on the envelope and thought of how his father would feel if he knew his son enjoyed being fucked, enjoyed being paid. 

He had sat at the desk in the room after Michael had left and wrote it all down on the notepad beside the phone, the hotels seal a blue ribbon over his words, feeling relaxed, sated even if that had barely been the point.

going off my tags on the last post: i really do sometimes think about making comics for a living and self publishing them. the thought of bringing my stories and characters to life in the form of a visual story that's printed so that i can hold it in my hands is just so incredibly appealing to me. ive been into making comics since i was little, like literally my oldest art that i still have was a little comic book-esque thing i made out of a small hand-sized notebook that i made when i was like 5. it feels like visual storytelling is in my blood?

its just that with unmedicated adhd i get so easily and heavily burnt out on things, especially big projects that tend to overwhelm me with their size and time requirements. i know itd be very hard to do in my current mental state, and id kind of be jumping into the self publishing scene for the first time so i dont know the first thing about it compared to like..character design. ive put a lot of time and effort into character design, but somehow..i dont feel like im wasting it if i go into comics professionally. i can still use my design skills to create appealing characters for my comics!

yeah i'd be out of a steady-paying job afaik. but itd still be income, and that's a good thing for me! id probably have to focus more on the comics i make rather than commissions, too, which im a little relieved by but also Not because again comics take a Lot of time and work and hustle sometimes. deadlines for publishing will become a thing that ive never had to worry about (although i guess unless you count me putting a "post a page every week" deadline on myself, which i kind of was able to do for a while??? idk)

with the drop of the danny phantom graphic novel and the overwhelming response to my own comic, i just feel like maybe comics might be the way to go for me, and i didnt see or consider it fully until now. is it possible that if i go into comics i can have this feeling more? will ppl feel this way about my other comics even though theyd be original and not fancomics?? it might be a gamble honestly but if it works out that way then itd be 100% worth the time and work id have to put into it. this feels so amazing im on cloud nine right now x'D

re: your ask from greyr4t about win10: as you said in your answer its free, just needs a key for 'activation.' ime activating win10 has been worth it. like you mentioned, it isnt strictly necessary, one can make do fine in a somewhat limited capacity with the watermark in the corner forever (unless your monitor is an OLED then have fun with 100% guaranteed screen burn in lmao. or unless always seeing it enrages you disproportionately. as in my case). but having windows activated is honestly just nice, it makes many things easier and is more sustainable in the long run... worth the extremely minor hassle as like a QoL thing imo. you also brought up that its possible to circumvent microsoft (and its brazenly insane asking prices 🤬) & buy cheap keys online from third parties. i wanted to talk about how i did shit, hopefully it helps the original asker directly or at least comes in handy to know

so i bought my (shady bootleg, yes, but perfectly functional for years now) win10 activation key for even cheaper than what Synthia listed as a price point- iirc, under 5 bucks USD. (might be higher now w inflation, but id be surprised if its much more than around 10.) if things still work how they used to, you can do this on ebay. technically ebays policies dont allow it, so the accounts selling these keys come and go frequently due to getting shut down by ebay after popping up. thus, dont necessarily be put off if the seller hasnt existed for long, as often thats just how it goes (or it did. hopefully this sort of thing is still going strong🤞); do trust happy reviews. now, there are a few TYPES of activation keys– priced slightly different, nothing big– that correspond to different editions of windows 10. so basically its home edition, pro edition, and "pro for workstations". might be worth finding a brief summary of each to determine which edition best meets your needs. (there are more editions beyond the main trio, look into those too if you want, but the tldr on em is theyre for like niche markets w/ highly specific use cases.) fwiw, i got pro & am happy with it. another thing, from personal experience: may or may not be obvious but you're gonna wanna save a screenshot of your key somewhere safe and accessible. additionally though, label the screenshot somehow so you know what it is later, and if youre a disorganized scatterbrain like i am then put that in multiple places you can reliably access so if/when youre having trouble tracking it down you know where else to look; it came in handy for me to have access to it in places both online (cloud storage like google drive or dropbox for example, or even just saving the email copy of the ebay mssg in the designated folder in your email for the ones containing info you wanna save) & off (physical note on paper, stored in the files on one or more personal devices, etc). theres a huge chance youll need it again in the future– like say if you want to upgrade certain hardware– and likely more than once. final advice: highly recommend looking into comprehensive ways of "defanging" and/or "lobotomizing" windows, as they say. i.e., a tip that gets circulated is doing the initial setup for windows w your pc in airplane mode / ethernet unplugged so you dont have to make a microsoft account so they cant create a profile on you to collect your data to sell off & target ads at you (which is obvi totally reversible later if you decide the benefits of having an account outweigh the drawbacks). shit like that, plus the loads of guides out there– many here on tumblr itself– on extensive fucking around in various settings to disable bloatware / preserve privacy / other useful stuff, that can get pretty granular. i think ive even seen Synthia herself reblog posts like that here a couple times, maybe? perhaps try checking relevant-seeming tags from the tagging system in her pinned, or do a blog search for the term 'windows' and see what all there is to find
