Azul had been fascinated by the idea of soulmates as a young mer

it was something that gave him hope, that despite all the other mean mers who would make fun of him, there was someone out there who would understand him and love him

and so he kept drawing on his arm, doodles of shells and other fish that caught his eye

but there wasn't any response.

maybe his doodles were too ugly and his soulmate didn't like them?

and so he learned to draw better, drawing again and again, hoping he would get a response

but still not a single mark would appear on him

it had been a tough blow to him, but he eventually accepted that he didn't have a soulmate

if he was going to be alone for all his life, then he had to take care of himself (because nobody would)

he became super greedy and selfish, always prioritising himself and his materialistic needs

although he also had a friendship with the tweels, he really only befriended them because they could help him out (but he did get attached to them over time)

and so, he opened the mostro lounge and became the sly businessman that we all know

on the first day of his second year, as he was going over documents after closing the lounge, he felt a slight tingle in his hand

Azul's eyebrow rose in response to an unexpected sensation. A peculiar warmth, like a gentle caress, emanated from the back of his gloved hand. Intrigued, he swiftly removed his gloves, revealing smooth, pale skin. A gasp of astonishment escaped his lips as his eyes fell upon a minuscule masterpiece, a tiny, adorable octopus delicately inked in pen.

"Is this...real?" Azul murmured, his voice tinged with disbelief. A surge of hope surged through his entire being, dispelling the weight that had burdened him for far too long.

With a trembling hand, he grasped his own pen and cautiously began to sketch his own octopus upon his wrist, with one tentacle reaching out, holding hands with your octopus.

And he can't stop he smile that graces his lips when a little heart appears between the two octopi.

What a hectic day it had been! For a magicless student to arrive in NRC and for him to finally connect with his soulmate!

Oh. Azul had to speak to said magicless student as soon as possible.

when the two of you start being a couple, Azul does everything and anything for you

when you're in exams and your nervously doodling sea creatures, he'll draw some flowers nearby to help calm you down

no he doesn't help you cheat by writing you the answers, he's already given you the perfect study materials, you shoud put in some effort too

he gets jealous if you draw other sea creatures too much though, especially moray eels

he lets you work at the lounge with a very high pay, making sure you're not working too hard, and always offers to tutor you if you're struggling

his soulmate had to go to a different world just to find him, you'll be sure he helps to settle in and hopefully never leave again

Insert clingy octopus wrapping his tentacles all around you because he can't bare to let you go

when you have dates and appointments, he'll help remind you by writing on his arm

this man has waited for you his entire life, he's ready to lay the world down at your feet if you ask him to

SO GUYS. I FINISHED III

GOD DAMN DO I HAVE THOUGHTS GUYS. but i'll just cover things i think are relevant to the doodles i made afterwards. if you have any questions on my thoughts on things i wouldn't be impartial to asks or replies to the post :3 i just need to rant for a minute im so mentally ill please

knife is only there because my friend watched ii s2 and he LOVES knife and i was like. word. hes awesome so i drew knife for him

HOOO BOY OKAY nickel and balloon. it was a bumpy ride fellas. going immediately from s2 where nickel was kinda a POS to s3 where they suddenly became acquaintances was a little weird to me. (especially in that one episode where silver & candle interrogate nickel about baseball. no suitcase mention?? huh???) but it was cool to see their journey! the buddy-buddy thing seemed weird throughout earlier episodes because in s2 balloon and nickel kinda hated each other's guts so i'm glad that was covered in a later episode and that their friendship was actually solidified. BUT that doesn't leave nickel off the hook if he dont march his ass up to suitcase and say sorry the minute they go back to season 2 i'm gonna have a WORD with that boy

BOT!!! OH BABY BOT they are SO adorable and i loved the reveal that they were a robot! i was so mystified on how bow was magically alive at the beginning and seeing that it was just a product of tt and fan's grief was very heartbreaking... but seeing bot evolve into their own person was genuinely so so so beautiful and the representation for queer folks is done very gracefully and it's very wholesome. seriously im not even trans and i was tearing up like a little bitch y'all. fan and test tube are the parents ever it's so cute and they are the cutest fam ever

silver spoon and candle.... hrrrmmm you are certainly funny little guys.... i would like to put you in a jar and study you.... their sudden intense craving for winning was a little jarring but their dynamic is funny. i didn't like silver much at first but he def grew on me especially in the finals, and candle's friendship with yinyang was really cute too (still bawling he got out i really grew to love him.) AND dont think i didnt see ur blushing in ep 17 silver. im onto you

i already covered bot but i just needed to say their friendship with painty is the BEST THING and for some reason painty just stating they were nonbinary made me unnecessarily happy like YES KING (NONGENDERED) GO LIVE UR TRUTH WE LOVE YOU

Girl.) but now that i understand her whole character arc, how she learned that its not always about the "facts" and how to lean on people, it was really heartwarming and shes rly grown on me. im a cabby appreciator

EEEE oke so i imagine it like .. modern-ish ?

Both of them are like mid 20ies methinks But Etho looks much younger because of his style (i had to take the opportunity to put eefo in alt clothes. im not sorry) And as the note in art said, Bdubs is basically a plant mom– Bonus points if Etho turned out to be older than Bdubs after Bdubs would call him a kid. I- I see this happening. Even more bonus points if Bdubs is transmasc bcs i take this as a option here Alrighty so how i see the whole caffe- Surely it's in vintage style, there's a lot of plants and books on the shelves and vinyls on the walls….. pics i found on pinterest that kinda give me the vibe:

Oh and also! Scar and Ren work there with Bdubs! Scar always brings Jellie there and she often sleeps in pots.. Can you imagine Bdubs’ face when he was watering all the plants and in one of them he found a sleeping Jellie.. 

IMAGINE IF JELLIE WALKED INTO A JUST WATERED PLANT OH NO SHE’D BE COVERED IN DIRT……. I think Jellie chews on dirt too… and bites leaves.. Yeah it’s fun there- Also Grian shows up only when Scar’s there. He says it’s not on purpose but we all know the truth :>

Okok but back to ethubs LMAO

Etho when he shows up in caffe for the first time he just finds the most quiet and hidden corner and sits there. As much as he loves black coffee it’s actually not the first one he orders! He asks Bdubs for a recommendation, he mentions he likes black coffee but is like. y'know i haven't been here before i might as well try something you have to offer… Bdubs gayass brain is already turned on because. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GUY! THE GUY IN FRONT OF HIM! HOLY SHIT HE'S SO PRETTY WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! Bdubs is glad Etho didn’t give him exact order because he would fuck it up v badly. 

So he goes to prepare the coffee, but first; he almost starts screaming. He's flushed. His face is literally a tomato.  Ren looks at him and acts surprised like it has never happened before…….. But then Bdubs realizes he forgot to ask him for a name to put on his cup. Well fuck- (BONUS POINTS IF HE WROTE “emo boy :)” THERE..... IT’D BE SO FUCKING FUNNY..............) He draws a little butterfly :) He likes butterflies :) Etho doesn’t have to know it yet :)

But hey after all Etho did enjoy his coffee! And he even showed up another day again! Win for Bdubs’ gay ass !!!1 And that time he actually asked for the name just to misspell it immediately  yes he wrote “eefo” .. 

So yeah Etho was showing up like every two days or so- Bdubs kept misspelling his name but Etho figured that after a while he was doing it just to annoy him.

Etho’s revenge for misspelling his name was to order the most insane coffee in the world. Bdubs had to write it down because he knew there was no way for him to remember this shit. And afterwards he wrote Epoo on the cup:)

okok for the maple and sou question: so because maple wanting to kill him was kind of part of her programming as an obstructor, that wouldn’t really apply here, but that idea is still SO funny to me?? i’ll def have to doodle that at some point lmaooo

their dynamic here is actually really polite! i see them as being good buddies :) maple is one of the participants who’s closer to sou, because she very much wants to work together with the others and see the good in everyone. it’s very much like. “awwww what a nice guy!” and then the guy in question is plotting murder ahsjkskdks

just as an example:

although, i still can def see sou being a little bit scared of her, because maple very much can be scary when she wants to. she’s very opposed to the ideas that the death game perpetuates, what with suspecting and betraying one another, and so while most of her ire is directed towards the floormasters, she can also get pretty pissed when the actual participants try to trick each other. so…yeah, sou tries to stay on her good side and be a nice boy. but he also does genuinely think she’s neat!

for the shin and sou question: i wasn’t actually going to talk about the second main game for at least a little while, but im horrible at keeping secrets anyways and talking about this excites me, so why the hell not!!

so, while over time i’ve leaned less into the idea of a character’s “role” determining the actions they take (e.g. just because shin takes kanna’s role doesn’t mean he acts like kanna), the one thing i have stuck to is that when one character takes another’s role, they will always die at the same point in the story. i wanted to also incorporate ‘branching paths’ for ytr as well, because it’s one of the things that really sticks out to me about yttd!

…so yeah the second main game vote is either between voting for shin or sou (or technically ranmaru, but then everyone else would die). it’s vv tragic to me, because i love both of them </3 but i do what i must for angst.

i’m definitely going to give the main games their own posts (and almost 100% some art as well) in the future, but if you’ll allow me to get a bit rambly about shin and sou’s dynamic here and how it affects the main game, ehehe… ^_^

sou and shin at the beginning of the death game very much start out with ulterior motives. yes, they are friends, but they also gain something out of allying with each other: someone who they can rely on/who can vouch for them, which improves their chances of surviving. so they act all buddy-buddy, but there’s definitely tinges of manipulation going on from both sides (and while they realize exactly what’s happening they still acknowledge that this “trade-off” (both literally and metaphorically lol) is a good deal for both of them)

but throughout the death game they end up getting a lot more comfortable/vulnerable with each other, and soon enough they realize they really care about each other (really, they have the whole time). and this obviously complicates things because them wanting to protect each other throws a wrench in the whole “every-man-for-himself” ideology they’ve been preaching.

so, kind of like kanna, sou tries to get the sacrifice card during the second main game trading phase, but he does it with the intention of having him and shin escape together. …he does not actually get the card because the cards get swapped by gashu (there’s different reasoning for why they’re swapped this time but i’ll get into that in another post as well probably). hence, pain.

i envision the end of the 2nd main game being almost a screaming match between the two as they desperately try to convince everyone else to “vote for me so he can live!” (sort of like the shin and kanna vote but even angrier) (because kanna is a sweetheart and sou is Not) (it’s horribly ironic as i’d consider shin and sou the two characters with the strongest survival instinct in this cast, yet they are both driven to self-sacrifice here)

okok uhhhh sorry for the long tangent as you can see i’m evidently insane about these two’s dynamic in this au! ANYWAYS this vote is a lot different from the shin & kanna one because no matter who ryoko votes for as the tiebreaker, the one who survives will be PISSED. and by god they try everything to make her life a living nightmare in chapter 3 (because. being ryoko is suffering)

I'm surprised people are enjoying my art so much, since the majority of the stuff I've posted is poor, sketchy imitations of the show's art style, but thank you anyway!

There's tonnes of talented artists and writers in this fandom, I'm so happy that I've been able to boost their content to a new audience through my silly little blog!!

As for my writing style, I've found that a lot of it's uniqueness comes from the very imagery-heavy narrative; there's always a simile, metaphor or otherwise some sort of 'poetic comparison' scattered about in my writing to help add depth to the scene (that, and a gross overuse of adverbs to describe literally every action someone takes). I enjoy writing in limited third person because I like getting a feel for the character who's perspective I'm writing from, personality wise. Which is why it's always so relieving to hear that people think my characterisations are good/accurate!

I also really like using limited third person because I could write paragraphs telling my audience that the antagonist is a bad person, sure, but I enjoy showing people my character's temperaments using their POVs- like Alejandro's perspective scenes in the RK fic, I don't outright say "oh, hey, by the way Alejandro is an awful person" but it's pretty apparent anyway.

...The humour stuff is just me being self-indulgent, and a symptom of my inability to take anything serious ever. But I'm super glad that people are also finding it funny!

Then again, most of this blog is just me being self-indulgent. Either through introspectives/analysis on things that Aren't That Deep, or by publicly snowballing AU ideas with others, or by doodling silly things that make me laugh.

The fact that people are enjoying watching my crazed ramblings is a bonus!

gonna post a little udg ramblings abt my current thoughts teehee

friend is on chapter 2, so far i'm enjoying it like. a lot more than i remember. this is the only game i've only been through once so you know, im glad to see it really isn't All bad

that being said 9/10 of the good things i have to say about it are about komaru and toko. their dynamic is genuinely so good and fun. i think it adds so much to toko's character that she's friends with someone who wholeheartedly cares about her i think that's really good. yayayay tokomaru win forever i should draw them someday

the kids still suck. masaru is . so boring and jataro is just. like. equally boring with the added bonus of having one billion lines where he's not actually saying anything that matters so he's twice as annoying. monaca and nagisa are like, fine? i guess? they are not actively annoying so there's that

im. worried! about getting to chapter 3 i have not seen it in years and its the sole reason its the only game ive never replayed. friend has been Warned about its contents, id never let anyone i know get blindsided by that . despite everything im enjoying the game and so is he! and i am worried it will sour the rest of the experience . which it might. ugh :|

What's a consistant artstyle?

Big thank you to everyone supporting me and interacting with me on here! You made my year much sweeter!

Big personal rant under the cut because this year really has been a challenge for me and Im proud of myself xD

This year was SOMETHING- I'm genuinely very proud of myself because I had been struggling for years now.

I kinda cheated for january (its a concept I made for schoolwork) and february (it's actually from january-). Because drawing had become a chore those past 3 years, I couldnt pick up a pencil without feeling sick, so doodling for myself was becoming RARE. Only reason I went back to doodling VERY self indulgent pieces was because of health issues, so perhaps it was actually a good thing since it made me go back to drawing for funsies! I am very glad I managed to get back up and am now able to draw for myself again!

I make jokes about my inconsistant art style but I'm actually very happy about it! Because of that huge artblock, I had to relearn so many things, it's a good thing I've always enjoyed experimenting and there are still LOTS I haven't tried yet! So expect more, perhaps even worse, inconsistancy in my art!

Is my art skill at its peak? Absolutely not. There are things I used to be able to draw with more ease. And there are drawings I am incapable of replicating at the moment. But I'm having so much fun! And really that is all that matters.

Getting back to sharing my art on social medias was another challenge and it was scary af, and it still is, but I'm glad I did. Found lots of fun people by doing so 💖 And I'm building up my confidence little by little!

Hopefully next year will go even better! And perhaps I will set my eyes on actually starting a project of mine!

Also aaaaaaaaaaa Amy and Oliver, they make me so ill 😭❤!!! I'm usually mild about shipping but not with these 2 adshsgsgwhsgwgdg, I think it's bc instead of going 'hey don't these 2 look pretty together? 🙂', the author fleshed them out as individuals and had them establish an actual friendship, so the audience ships them but the story itself takes it's time building up to that :') <3<3<3
