Listen, like, genuinely, jjk is sad to me cause there is barely any room to wiggle or explore cursed energy. We don’t know where cursed techniques came from, we just know they depend purely on your blood, you either are born with a good one or not. This post isn’t really an analysis, sorry, there isn’t much to analyse in the first place with just how much the jjk’s worldbuilding is lacking. This rant is so long im forced to put in under cut im being SILENCED(by myself)

Which is like so insane considering cursed energy is heavily realiant on your negative emotions. This energy, this power, and curses themselves, are something so so deeply human, made from them, by them and because of them, it should be more flexible than that. Like currently my best theory on cursed techniques origins are either a binding vow made long ago or idk someone fucked cursed spirit. I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt and propose something like what Ajin did (which is genuinely fucking genius. Like we have barely a couple of pages of explanations that’s purely speculative but those couple frames of ancient humans desperately struggling for survival that their struggle made one of them return from the dead is so fucking powerful and just gives all the possible answers and gives you freedom to think whatever) but that honestly sounds like absolutely too good to be true I don’t think we’re going to be that lucky.

Its such a powerful energy that it can turn a city into dust. Are you telling me no one had tried to convert it into electricity? Are you telling me that sorcerers are such a concervative society thet haven’t evolved for the last thousand years AT ALL? No one running to another corner of the earth to study in peace? If it was at least confirmed that you can create your own technique with enough suffering it would have made much more sense. Like okay someone did before and now it runs through the family alright. My smart thoughts are that the most logical thing would be if someone created it and then made a binding vow to bind it to their bloodline, because I kind of don’t accept the connection of cursed techniques to blood because we literally do not see it. There is no blood test that can yield whether you’re a sorcerer or not, there is no inherent physical differences between normal people and sorcerers.

But also that same theory would imply that it’s technically like making a binding vow with that cursed technique which implies it having some sort of intelligence, which would mean a symbiotic relationship which all leads me to the fact that cursed techniques are parasites surviving through blood thanks for coming to my ted talk. THAT would be a great twist and a very sexy conclusion and would be very cool to run off with but its still just my speculations that i was thinking about for a while. I like to personally explore that in my writing, it’s equally interesting to write about cursed techniques being parasites OR them created by people and just being another sort of power, shaping the culture around them, not a blessing from some higher power but a thing made purely by humans.

Like if I just try and look at jjk from worldbuilding’s perspective, literally nothing makes sense. There should be scientists trying to create sorcerers artificially, for war or other purposes, usually sponsored by government. There should be more influence of cursed energy on historical events, dictators cursing nations, there should be a lot more sorcerers using their cursed techniques to make way in politics. There should be much much many more sorcerers trying to negate the their weakness of cursed techniques by creating new ones or by other means.

I know I’ve complained about that before and obviously thats not something that I can change, but from my point of view as a writer trying to make sense of the world of sorcery, like basically nothing fits. Why are the higher ups so strict? Do they just want power? Why? What does that power give them? Can they influence the government? Do they have a monopoly on sorcery? Its not a dumb question because obviously they want it for something, but for what exactly? We don’t even know, and the answer “just because they’re evil” is not a proper one? Can i have some details. Are you telling me the government just takes it without trying to make their own alternatives how to fix the curses problem? Just accepting that sorcerers have monopoly over it? Nothing about the universe and politics in it makes sense which means I have to do everything myself when I write which basically means I might as well just write original work. Which is obviously my own personal problem, but jjk is so SO close to being great. Cursed energy is a very interesting concept and I love it but boy does it lack any sort of logical progression. Like the reversed cursed technique, I get it its hard to master. But are you telling me that for a thousands of years no one has ever developed any shortcuts for it? I feel like jjk has basically no faith in the indominable human spirit despite it being the actual central point of the narrative and the source of cursed energy itself. Sorry I know I complain about it at least once a month but its so CLOSE just give me SOMETHING. This is not like demon slayer where we have a specific one progenitor which is the reason they have demons in the first place and they all bad. No, here we are told curses existed always, and sorcerers have also always existed, this is not a situation where you can destroy all of them by destroying the source. In jjk curses are just part of life, and you would think sorcerers would have gotten more mechanisms to deal with them during centuries but I guess not. Sorry this is more rambling than anything else but do you get it? Do you get the gaps?

so yess i am! technically i follow the description of "what a vegan is". like i don't consume anything that is or belongs to an animal, but i usually say that because of the political part. there are many "divisions" (idk if there's a proper name to it?) inside the vegan movement, such as the pragmatic one and the popular one! i'm not sure of the translations of those though, that's how we call them in portuguese.

i'm not getting into the pragmatic/strategic one bc i'm not part of it and i also don't wanna say anything that isn't true. now the popular/political/idealistic movement (my beloved <3) defends that veganism must be a fight that includes everyone and every other fight, since anti-speciesism should defend both non-human and human animals. it says that veganism cannot go on and change the world for the better if it isn't against capitalism, racism, misoginy, ableism, queerphobia and everything else.

oh and one of the most important things in this group is that veganism must be an accessible way of living for everyone. it defends local producers, familiar agriculture. real food and not ultra-processed stuff that cause so much harm to this world and to people themselves.

Hi, it's the anon requesting a PSA for non accessible rules pages, because I don't own a laptop. When I send it in, I was in a bad mindset after a couple of incidents in the rpc stressing me out. I was highly frustrated. I understand that using your inbox for venting wasn't right and I apologize for making you feel uncomfortable with my aggressive tone. What I won't do, is acknowledge that I felt entitled. Which I don't. I literally said I'm poor, I can't afford a laptop, I can't afford a smartphone, I live off little. I'm not privileged. Anon, everyone has bad days - no harm no foul, my own nerves were rattled by a lot of different askbox bullies and abuse a few days ago from multiple sides, so I imagine that heightened my own sensitivity to the the implied tone of the request and I apologize for that. You aren’t the first person to need to vent, I highly doubt you’ll be the last. I don’t think you’re a bad person for coming at it the way you did. We all lash out in frustration. The anon function stays open for a reason, we all have less than stellar moments and this way, no one has to be the wiser who that is - just know that’s a double edged sword on my part. Not everyone has good intentions behind the frustration and they really mean to hurt feelings when they ask for things. I can typically parse through those quick - but tone gets muddled in an ask. I don’t have to tell you, I know, that people hide behind it with the goal of trying to be truly mean and nasty. There’s just a lot to consider when sending an anon ask that everyone should be aware of.

If not ? Keep looking, you’ll find the right RP squad for you that can meet your needs !

thats rough im sorry :((( the internet can be a very stressful place with....literally everything going on all the time haha but i think whats important to do to curate your own online experience is to:

use the sites u actually like and prefer. i use tumblr primarily because i can manage my social media experience the way i want to.

shape your page/timeline/feed/dash into what you want. unfollow people who dont post things you like or even want to see, block people freely even if u just dont agree with something they said in their post or for just rubbing you the wrong way. you control your experience and if you dont like what youre seeing and not enjoying yourself, then u can always find something new or get rid of the things u dont want to see. for me, i dont like using twitter because its got a lot of weirdos on it and then some and i dont like seeing every horrible political event going on at all times. not because i dont care, but because its so much all the time that it gets so draining and overwhelming. with sites like tumblr, you cant necessarily avoid it depending on how big or impactful the news is (i mean ofc, we're a social media site after all) but at least if u dont like seeing a bunch of real world events that upset you then u can always block those tags or posts or unfollow the people who put it on your dash.

remember that the internet is a place to escape. yes it is a place to store information and knowledge, but it is also full of so many wonderous dangers because it is so vast. dont take it too seriously, dont get too invested in things that are out of your control, and i honestly dont think its healthy to be chronically online either. so just remember, be safe, be mindful, and have fun.

keep posting your content! and make sure you tag it! exposure is the BEST way to get traction and attention.

keep your commission sheet pinned to your blog. its good that its the first thing people see when they visit your page

DO NOT underprice your work!! do not do not!! u are creating something from your mind with your hands and your creativity alone, your art is special and unique no matter your skill level! never charge under $20 for even your most simple art. (ik ik my kofi comms are only $9-$12 but thats different i have a job that brings in steady money haha...and i also am a hypocrite that doesnt value my art enough) but i am SO SERIOUS when i say that every art piece is worth so much! if $15 or $10 makes you more comfortable to charge people then i encourage it, just as long as you dont go below double digits and are getting some money in!

if your commissions are lower than say...$30 or $40 then make sure you get them done in a timely manner. i know im DEFINITELY not one to talk about being quick on commissions, im so slow, but i try to get smaller pieces done first. i dont go by first come first serve, i do what it easiest to me in the moment because i have horrible time management skills thanks adhd but really just do whatever works for u! but from a money and business standpoint, i would try to get the smaller pieces done as fast as you can. bigger pieces have more leeway to take longer.

HAVE BOUNDARIES WITH UR CUSTOMERS! if you are uncomfortable drawing something, say so. decline the commission. its not worth the money if u are bothered by the content, you clearly dont want to make it therefore the art wont be satisfying to you anyway because your hearts not on it. also its better for your mental health. if a customer is being too friendly or too comfortable for you, make sure you keep it business. let them know it is just business. you do not owe anyone your friendship just because theyre giving you money. theyre paying for a service, its just as an other transaction at the store. if they are asking you to draw something youve already stated in a commission sheet that you wont draw, block them. they clearly dont know how to read or respect your boundaries because they asked you for a service you already stated you could not provide. not a good customer, move on.

ok more book talk. about to go to work and i need something to do for like 20 mins so. book talk. spoilers for various books under the cut

pretty sure the last book i ended on was the ghost bride, so next up i read Silver Under Nightfal by Rin Chupeco ! tbh. it was fun it was entertaining dont remember much from it other than vampire sex and . actually yeah political intrigue and plagues but mostly vampire sex. read through the audio book pretty quickly i had a good time i just really im sorry but i couldnt get over the fact that the mcs name is remy like. the rat. and thats on my thats my bad but yeah. i do have the second one and i am planning on reading that i dont have my hopes up for more than like. a little bit of plot and a Lot of vampire sex which is fine like the bits of plot i did get were interesting enough to keep me with it so. thumbs up from me :)

next i read The Binding by Bridget Collins, which. who boy that was a ride and a half. definitely 100% enjoyed it would recommend! I did read this a long time ago so a lot of it is lost to me but i remember absolutely devouring that book like easily. if you do want to read it tho, i would recommend going in knowing as little as possible; about halfway ish i think it takes a total 180 turn and just. puts you on a lil rollercoaster ride it was good. look at trigger warnings though! there are a lot of explicit discussions of heavy topics so do read those first.

after that i read Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang, a collection of sci fi short stories that I enjoyed..... quite a bit? dont remember many of them, and to me i feel like this collection was wayyyy overhyped and i didnt enjoy it as much as i could have tbh. overall if you like sci fi i would recommend and there were some interesting conversations brought up throughout, so i do think it's worthwhile, i just didn't like it as much as i thought i would.

after that i read The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow, a very short novella that like kinda destroyed me a little bit. like the love story was so lovely and felt genuine even in such a short amount of pages, and it's something i would go back and read again and again. 10/10 would recommend i read this in one sitting at like midnight and i think it changed my brain chemistry just a little bit

then i read Flux by Jinwoo Chong, and i really dont have much to say about it. it could have been a me thing where i wasnt in the mood for this story but i did not connect to any of the characters at all and i was confused pretty much the entire time. its one of those time travel things were like. a crime has happened and they start from the beginning before the crime but also after looking back on it and like the mc is supposedly in a simulation but neither he or the reader can tell if/when he is or not but like. yeah i just didnt vibe with it.

then i read Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon, my first book of theirs ! i thought the concept was really cool and i cared about a lot of the characters, not much has stayed with me since i read it but i am excited to read more of Solomon's work! also the romance was sweet and cute or whatever.....

after that i read Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah!!! oooohhh this book was good. this book was so fucking good it messed me up by the end of it. and I did appreciate the footnotes adding details about both the world/time the book is set in and about their technology, but also about the prison system as it is today. and ohhh the two fmcs and their relationship was so lovely to read about, how they knew each other and cared for each other so well just. AUHDJNS. yeah. 10/10 loved and i'm excited to see more from this author

last one for this post unless i really wanna push it for work, i read the first two books in the Between Earth and Sky series by Rebecca Roanhorse! also very good 10/10 im very interested to see where it goes especially with Serapio and his whole godliness shtick, the magic and worldbuilding was super interesting and i am frothing at the mouth for the third i know its out but like i also want the audiobook and i havent seen if there is one yet but like i need to listen to it ok its just not the same without it.

ok thats it theres still more but i need to stop myself, almost gotten through it. i havent read as much recently ive been a knitting warrior but looking to get back into it more soon !

How many times do I say "maybe" in my posts? How many times do I say NONE OF US KNOW THEM? Why so angry that I'm pointing out that the hate towards this woman is completely irrational. That 99% of theories came from a bad tv movie they've created in the dark recesses of their minds.

That one anon talking about parasocial stuff was right. And being too invested in spewing nasty hateful things about people you DO NOT KNOW. Is. CORRECT. None of us do, is not only wrong, but also I've been saying this for while now: What you say about people you don't know is a reflection of your character and not the person you're hating on.

It's not about being a better fan, but about some need to reevaluate themselves and be better people. Bc I do not get hating a woman bc she's dating a man none of us will ever know.

You claim to be fans, but you act like you want to punish him. And by punishing him you control him. He's lost followers, they celebrate, bc it gives the illusion of control. All these posting behaviours from these haters is a reflection of themselves. They say she's a liar and manipulative. But the mistranslations prove that anon is a liar and purposely manipulating people to make a stranger look bad OVER A MAN NONE OF US KNOW. The examples could go on for days. That anon was right it is Misogyny. Edited to add: I find it incredibly sad that the misogyny is coming from women (mostly).

I will absolutely always stand up for other women, when they are being treated unfairly/hated on. I will call out people for saying ridiculous things, example, the way she dances means she's mocking the disabled. Really, you don't find that ridiculous?
