ninja + first date headcanons (& drabble) !!

notes: tried my best to keep them all at equal length.. i took breaks after like every 2 so i didn’t burn myself out

warnings: not proofread. i try to explain roller skating in nya's and fail at it because I'm too lazy to research. on the other hand, I nerd out really hard in zane's, also reader is ever so slightly implied to be short than zane in his but its like two words

lloyd - a walk in the park

i definitely feel like he'd keep it easy + simple, he doesn't want to come off too strong and scare you away.

after freaking out about it for hours, he finally comes to the idea of just taking you on a walk through the park right smack dab in Ninjago

it was the peak of spring, so all the plants and flowers were beautifully vibrant

poor boy was SO nervous

would defo be the type to pick a flower and tuck it behind your ear

“This place is beautiful this time of year.” You said, marveling at the plants surrounding you both as you sat on a park bench. Turning your head to look at Lloyd, only to find him already staring. “Lloyd…?”

“It really is…” He said, his voice dreamy like he was in a far-off state. “I- I mean!” Lloyd cleared his throat, looking away as he felt his face grow warmer, blush creeping up the sides of his neck. “Sorry, I meant that you’re- you’re also really… beautiful.”

Lloyd kept his gaze fixed on the ground, worried he’d messed everything up, but instead of rejecting his compliments, he was met with small giggles. He raised his head, looking over at your smiling face, a sight he’d remember for years to come.

“You don’t have to be nervous, Lloyd. I promise I like you just as much as you like me.” You said, taking his hand in yours. “And thank you… for… saying that.” A small chuckle came from your lips, a shared blush gracing your features.

“Yeah, it’s… no problem.” He smiled, looking away before his eyes settled on something, an idea popping in his head. Leaning over the side of the bench, his hand slipping from yours, he plucked a freshly blossomed daisy from its stem, facing back towards you.

You held your breath as he grabbed the side of your face, using his other hand to tuck the flower behind your ear. “There.” He smiled, leaning back as he admired his handiwork. “Somehow you just got even more beautiful.” Lloyd sighed as he took your hand once more, leaving a chaste kiss against your knuckles.

kai - an amusement park/fair

kai either wants someone who can keep up with his antics or keep him grounded (or both)

he’d take you on all the thrill rides, just to prove he’s “not a coward”

at some point he’ll end up getting sick from one of the rides (you told him not to eat so much cotton candy)

when the sun starts setting, you both go on the ferris wheel, sat side by side, watching the sun disappear into the ocean

“Holy shit!” You subconsciously grab at Kai’s arm, finally looking down and noticing just how high up you both are, granted you were riding the ferris wheel. Little did you know, this was Kai’s plan all along. He’d wanted to impress you all night, and what better way than to prove he’s definitely not at all terrified of heights?

“Oh, yeah?” He smirks, though the small tremble of his body doesn’t go unnoticed. “I’m like… way higher up than this on the daily.” Kai fails to mention that he’s usually in a mech, or some sort of vehicle. Now, he’s just left to his own devices if he were to fall…

The ferris wheel stops abruptly with a lurch, causing you both to let out small yelps. Looking at each other, you share a laugh when you realize you’re both being dramatic. You let go of his arm, hesitantly leaning back in the rickety metal seat. “Jesus, we’re high up…” The sun was now setting, casting a beautiful orange glow along the horizon.

“And it seems like we’re at the top, if I’m not mistaken.” Kai smirks, leaning his head over the seat before immediately bringing it back, a look of regret dawning his face for a moment. He mumbles something about that being a “stupid idea”, before turning his attention back to you.

“You know… there’s this thing people usually do at the top of ferris wheels.” He raises his brow, looking at you with a grin.

“And what’s that?” You reply, playing into his antics as you both subconsciously lean towards the other like magnets.

Your lips meet halfway, just a small peck before you part once more. No words were said, no words were needed as you smiled, readjusting your body so you sat forward and leaned your head against Kai’s shoulder, his arm wrapped safely around you.

nya - rollerskating

now just hear me out…

something just speaks to me when it comes to nya and rollerskating, like my heart is telling me she loves it

her going rollerskating with someone (you), sharing that experience is just a testament to how much she likes that person (you again)

and let’s say, hypothetically, this is your first time rollerskating

a lot of the night is spent with you leaning against nya for support, her cheering you on when you’re finally able to skate on your own

The side of the roller skating ring shook under you, your trembling hands the only thing keeping you from falling flat on your face. To your left is Nya, cheering you on as you try to skate on your own. "C'mon! You can do it!" She exclaims, smiling.

You let out a deep breath, closing your eyes as you lift your hands off the rail. You stay still for a moment, your feet rolling back and forth ever so slightly. Hesitantly, you open your eyes, Nya now in front of you. Pushing one foot forward, trying to keep your balance, successfully getting a few steps in.

"You're doing it!" Nya laughs, but right after she says that, the propulsion of your roller skates becomes too much, your feet moving much faster than you can handle, and you topple right on top of Nya. Thankfully, her strength keeps you both from falling as she holds onto your arms, you grabbing onto her shoulders.

"I don't know how you do it." You laugh, leaning your head on her shoulder for a moment as you compose yourself.

"I've been doing this for years," Nya responds, laughing alongside you. "This is literally your first time; you're not gonna be perfect. Here, try one more time." She slowly lets go of your arms, allowing you to take the reins once more. Taking one final breath, you do the same thing you did before. Push off and try to keep your balance.

You don't even realize you're doing it until Nya's behind you, jumping up and down in her skates, cheering. "Yes! You did it!" She skates up to you quickly, engulfing you in a hug as she grabs the side of your face, placing a quick kiss on your cheek.

cole - bakery date

when he’s not on ninja duty, food is on the forefront of his mind (as well as you now), so of course the perfect idea to him would be taking you to his favorite bakery

it’s a small, family-owned one, so he probably knows the owners personally, allowing you two to get the best, freshly baked pastries

he definitely gets at least double your portion, making you question just how he’s able to keep his ninja physique with all he’s scarfing down.

You’re sat across from Cole, tucked away in a booth far off in the corner of the small bakery. It wasn’t too busy, just enough for the bustle of people around you to not be a bother. Cole’s telling you another story about one of the ninja’s “heroic endeavors”, taking bites of his chocolate cake slice between each sentence. You thought it was cute, his love for sweets.

“Hey, you gonna eat that?” Cole says, interrupting his story to point at the croissant you’d long since discarded, having eaten your fill. With a smile, you told him no, handing it to him as he takes his gratefully, munching down on the bread, letting out a contented sigh. “I told you this place was amazing.”

“Clearly.” You chuckle, finding his antics childish yet endearing. “I’m just shocked you’re able to, like… eat so much without keeling over.”

He simply shrugged in response, taking one last bite of the croissant before leaning back in his seat, letting out a comical groan, and wiping off his mouth with a napkin.

"Oh, here, you missed some." You mumbled, reaching over the table, napkin in hand, as you delicately wiped away a couple of crumbs. Embarrassment radiates through your body as you realize what you've done, hastily looking away and muttering out an apology.

Cole lets out a small laugh, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, hey, it's fine." He says, his voice nothing but kind. "In fact, I think you've got a little something yourself." As he says that, Cole leans over the table, delicately grabbing the side of your face, turning your head back towards him. He places a small, soft kiss to the corner of your mouth before sitting back once more, a small smile of triumph on his face as you're left there, a stammering, blushing mess.

zane - art gallery

i can totally see him downloading like, a bunch of articles of “top 10 best first date ideas” (toootalllyyy didnt search that when writing these)

he decided to go with an art gallery, deciding that it’d be the place with the “least likely trouble”, and the overall atmosphere

he’d most likely be attracted to someone who’s smart/an intellectual, and an art gallery is the best way to scope that out

while you’re admiring the paintings, he’d be admiring you

when you show an interest in one of the works, he’d scan it to find out all the information about it so he can tell you

With each step in the museum, your jaw dropped further at the beauty of the paintings. You were so thankful Zane brought you to the gallery; its openness eased your nerves. Zane was extremely accommodating whenever you got too sucked into a certain piece, reading the plaque and absorbing what you saw. He never showed a lick of impatience.

In fact, he would even tell you things about the piece that very few people actually know, just small anecdotes or fun facts about the artist or the art itself. You knew it probably came natural to him, what with his millions of archives, but the gesture was sweet nonetheless.

"Ah, those right there are Claude Monet's waterlilies," Zane says, bringing you to the wonderfully bright painting. It all seemed so elegant, the way the colors blended together, creating the impression of the waterlilies, which makes sense since he began the Impressionist art movement. "Unfortunately, this appears to be a replica. I believe the actual paintings are housed in a separate museum."

"That's a shame," You sigh. "They're still beautiful, though, regardless." Looking over, you notice Zane already staring at you.

"Unlike these waterlilies, you have a beauty that can't be replicated." He says it so out of the blue that it almost makes you stumble backwards. Fortunately, you prevent yourself from doing that, but not without a fervent blush spreading across your face.

"Zane!" You stutter, smiling.

"Did I say something wrong?" He replies, cocking his head.

You take a couple seconds to respond, just looking at him softly before laughing, "No, you're fine." Leaning up, you give him a small kiss on the cheek, a token of your gratitude.

jay - movie theater

he initially wanted to go to an arcade, but eeevvverrryyyoooneee told him not to

he decides either on some cheesy rom-com movie or a horror movie (no in-between)

rom-com to really set the mood of the date, making it feel more romantic

or horror so he can be your “knight in shining armor” (though he ends up being the one cowering

he does the stupid like, yawn and put your arm over the others shoulder.

After an extremely awkward confession, you were sitting here in a movie theater with Jay. It was a movie of his choosing, yet another horror film made solely for the shock factor. Admittedly, you were shocked he would pick it; he hardly seemed the type to enjoy horror, but he said he "just wanted to show you he can be there when you need it". Okay, man...

The movie wasn't bad at all; it was just extremely obvious it wanted to get a few screams out of people, with zero regard to anything else. At one point, you felt Jay grab your hand. Looking over at him, smiling softly, he just says you "looked scared", even though the trembles of his hand were a dead giveaway of his own terror. All you do is give him a soft chuckle, squeezing his hand in return.

As the movie went past its climax, the cheesy jumpscares thankfully died down. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Jay 'yawn', then slip his arm over your shoulder. You had to hold back a giggle, but the gesture didn't go unappreciated, the warmth in your face obvious to how you truly felt. You allowed him to win this time, resting your head on his shoulder. Looking up, you could just make out the goofiest grin on Jay's face.

"Hey, um..." Jay begins as you're both walking outside the theater. "Was it... okay? The date, I mean." He tried to laugh it off, but the insecurity on his face was evident.

Turning to face him, you smile sweetly, grabbing both of his hands. "Jay, it was amazing, don't worry." You laugh, your thumbs rubbing circles on his knuckles.

"Oh, good," He chuckles awkwardly. "Then, um, can I kiss you?"

You simply nod in return as he slips his hands out of yours, cupping your face as he kisses you so delicately you feel as if you could both fly away.

The door to the bunks slams shut with a deafening bang. 

Cole stares at it from down the hall. Behind him, Lloyd and Nya are crowding but also hiding in a way. They don’t move past his shoulders. Distantly, Cole wonders where Zane is before coming to the conclusion that he’s in the Bridge, staring at a wall or—or something. 

“What’s his problem,” Lloyd hisses, voice suspiciously wet. Cole looks down at him and finds Lloyd’s eyes shining and lip curled up in a scowl, clearly hiding a hurt expression. His cheeks are all red and Cole finds his hand is reaching out to rest on Lloyd’s head.

For a moment Lloyd looks conflicted, face going through a series of expressions—confusion, anger, sadness and then it’s all wiped away. He leans into the touch anyways, though without looking Cole in the eyes.

Cole runs his fingers through his hair softly, thumbling along Lloyd’s forehead. It seems to calm Lloyd some, his shoulders slumping a bit. He looks up at Cole with tired eyes, bags under them, and glances at the bunks.

“Just go sit down, alright?” Cole says, “I’ll talk to Jay.”

Lloyd is quiet for a moment before nodding and walking off.

Not before he mutters ‘what an asshole’ under his breath. Cole almost wants to snort. 

Of course, Nya doesn’t budge.

“Nya—” he starts but she interrupts, hands flying out in an angry motion. 

“No! You can’t—can’t tell me to go sit down!” she yells, her face is all screwed up. She tries to move forward but Cole steps in front of her. She glowers at him.

“I wasn’t going to say that, just…just let me handle him alright?” he explains, hands in a placating manner. 

“I can handle him.”

“I know.”

“He needs to get his head out of his ass,” she says quietly but with a viciousness, “he’s not the...the only one who’s hurt right now. Kai left all of us but he—he’s so—” she breaks off into an angry, growly sound.

“Trust me, I know. It’s just—Nya, he cares about you so much. I don’t want him to say anything to you that the—the both of you would regret, y’know?” Cole says, reaching out to gently squeeze her shoulders.

“I don’t love him.” she says back.

“I didn’t say that,” Cole squeezes again. Nya huffs.

“Yeah, yeah you didn’t,” she mumbles, “don’t you worry about it? What he’d say to you?”

“Nah, I got tough skin,” he grins and then hurries to continue before she gets mad, “not that you don’t! I’m just used to Jay, he’s my best friend and all.”

Nya raises an eyebrow, her expression is still pulled taunt and face flushed miserably but it’s—something. “Best friend, right, right, sure.”

She turns around, shrugging out of hands and begins to walk away.

“Hey now, I don’t like you’re implying there.”

Nya throws her hands up in a shrugging motion and turns the corner, exiting Cole’s line of sight.

He lets his shoulders slump. A weary, shaky sigh leaves him, expelling…some sort of feeling into the air. He waves it away. He brings his hand up to his face and just—rubs it. Presses into the crease between his eyebrows with an exhausted sort of energy.

Then he takes a deep breath and squares out his shoulders again. He glances at the bunk door and for good measure, takes another breath. He doesn’t really need to breathe but it makes Cole feel better. More steady.

He walks down the hall, his feet making no sound and grabs the doorknob. He goes still for a moment before turning it and opening the door. The room is dark and cold, they haven’t spent too much time in it as of late. It feels like too much of a reminder, he guesses. Kai’s bed is always empty.

Jay is curled up on—Cole’s bed actually. Cole’s eyes go soft. Jay is laying on his side, knees up to his chest and arms haphazardly thrown in between. Cole can’t see his face, it's covered up by the dark and also Jay’s stupid, curly bangs.

“Is there a reason you’re in my bed?” Cole asks.

Jay takes a moment to answer, “...it’s bigger.”

“It’s not,” Cole says as he sits down. The bed creaks a bit under his weight.

They sit in silence for a few minutes. Cole is trying to gather his words but he can’t seem to find them. His tongue is all heavy. He doesn’t know…how to help really. Ever since Kai left there’s been an open wound in the team. He’s done his best but he has the equivalent of duct tape and a dream when what he needs is cement.

Jay’s foot brushes against Cole’s arm. For a second, he thinks it’s an accident but then it happens again. Cole reaches out to brush his fingertips along Jay’s ankle. He’s got a little scar there, he realizes. Just a small nick on the back of his heel. Jay twitches a bit and Cole smiles faintly. He’s always been ticklish.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Cole asks quietly, letting the words reverberate into this quiet, vibrating silence they’ve made.

“No,” Jay says back, muffled, “what’s there to talk about.”

“Oh,” Cole’s voice goes deep and soft, “I don’t know, maybe why you’ve been so angry at everyone?”

“I’m not angry.”

“You were just yelling at Lloyd,” Cole recalls, resting his hand on Jay’s ankle, “what’d Lloyd do to you?”

“He—he…” Jay trails off, “...nothing.”

Cole hums, “you can’t keep doing that Jay, they’re getting mad.”

“I’m not,” Cole says.

Jay scoffs, bitter and resentful, “yeah, well, who isn’t mad at me?”

“Shouldn’t you be?”

“I think I got all my ‘mad-at-Jay’ out of my system already,” Cole says, “I don’t know if you remember but we kinda fought. A lot.”

Jay scoffs again but it sounds just a little bit more like a laugh.

Cole squeeze’s his ankle, “come on, Bluebell. Talk to me, it’s what I’m here for.”

Jay goes quiet and Cole resigns himself to waiting again. After a few minutes, Jay finally sits up, he does so slowly, pushing on his arms. Then he flops into a slouched over criss-cross position. He’s still not looking Cole in the eyes but he’ll take what he can.

Jay’s hands begin to mindlessly draw out patterns in the bed sheet. It's an anxious tic, Cole has noticed. He does it when he doesn’t know what to say.

That’s okay, he can start, “Jay, I know you’re mad but what happened with Kai isn’t your faul—”

“It’s not that!” Jay interrupts, then he deflates a little more, “Okay, maybe it’s a little that.”

“Jay–”

“But it’s just—just…how could he just leave like that?” Jay says. Cole’s been thinking the same thing, logically he knows it was that—damned staff. Twisted Kai’s mind. Kai loves them, he has to have faith in that, it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt though. “I can’t be him.”

Jay continues, gesturing desperately like he really wants Cole to understand, “I’m not—good at what he does. The on the spot plans and—and Nya. Lloyd. Hell, I don’t even know how you’re so good with them.”

“Listen, I get it dude. I’m out of my depth too,” he says, squeezing Jay’s knee, “but we just have to hang on.”

“So…” Cole starts, “you’re lashing out at them because you’re…not sure how to help?”

“I—I mean, when you put it like that,” Jay mumbles. Cole pats his knee.

“How long will we have to hang on?” Jay says miserably.

“I…I don’t know, Jay,” Cole says quietly. Jay sighs and then tips sideways onto his shoulder. He rests his head there, staring out forward. Cole slips an arm around his back. Jay leans into it. 

“I’m sorry,” Jay mutters, his voice is shaky, “for being mean. I really am trying but—but I’m probably going to be mean again.” Cole rubs his back.

“I know,” he says back, “but it’s alright, I’ll be there to rein you in.”

“That’s not your job,” Jay turns his head to bury his face into Cole’s shoulder.

“Sure it is.”

Jay goes quiet for a minute or so. He’s all wiry, all bony and thin muscles. Cole wouldn’t call him anything like small or delicate, Cole’s seen him take way too many hits that have sent him into a wall before and his shoulders are too broad but he feels so small sometimes.

Jay shifts, “I miss how warm you were.”

Cole’s hand pauses on his back before continuing to rub. He looks down at his hands, trying to swallow everything down.

“Yeah I—uh,” he takes a very quiet breath, “me too, buddy.”

“It’s not fair, y’know? You and Kai were always so warm but Kai’s gone and now you’re a ghost,” Jay mumbles,”’s not fair.”

“I know,” Cole closes his eyes, “I know.”

Jay opens his mouth to reply but the only thing that comes out of it is the sound of wood smashing against the floor.

Cole startles awake, stumbles and dragging himself away from where he thinks the impact came from. His eyes can’t focus and he’s—he’s still half asleep. He tries to sit up fully but the end of a staff stabs him dead center in the chest and slams him into the ground. His head bounces against the floor and he lets out a pained, shocked noise. 

“Cole, don’t you think it’s time to wake up?”

A staff member hit him in the face, shoving his head to the side. 

“A–Ah–!”

“Get up.”

Cole stumbles up finally, frantically backing away. His eyes—eye finally focus enough to be able to see what’s going on. Yang is standing in front of him, staff clenched in his hand and looking down on him with a vitriol. Cole breathes heavily. His—his eye hurts. It’s not fair that the one type of person who can hurt him without water—another ghost—is the one he’s trapped with.

“Yang,” he whispers. He covers his eye and yanks it back when it comes away—wet? No—No, not wet, just…slimy. His hand is bright green, it sort of looks like blood.

“Ectoplasma,” Yang comments. 

“Ecto—ectoplasma?” he stutters back, his hands shake.

“It’s how a ghost bleeds, child,” Yang says.

Cole backs away but Yang starts to advance. A ghost's steps are supposed to be—quiet, unheard but Yang’s are loud and heavy. Like a beat to a drum that hurts Cole’s ears. 

“Y–Yang,” he stutters, “Yang! Stop!” 

His voice is raw and shakes, his hands twitch out in front of him. He can fight, he’s trained to fight but he’s so—so scared—

“Stop!”

Yang strikes out and Cole screams, ducking lower and stumbling back under the staff that flies over where his head was. He can’t breathe—he can’t think! His feet are tripping over themselves. Yang slams his staff into Cole’s side, sending him sprawling onto the floor.

Cole chokes and grabs at his sides. He screams again when Yang’s staff slams into the ground besides his head. He pushes himself back by his feet, clutching at his side and eye bleeding. He throws his arm up just in time to block another hit to the face. Still it catches his chin and sends a shock wave of pain down his arm.

“Sloppy, weak,” Yang spits, “scared.”

“Yang—” Cole sobs. 

“Did you forget everything Wu taught you?” Yang says, spinning his staff and Cole flinches, sobbing, “or did he not teach you anything at all?”

“Why—why’re you—why’re you do–doing—” Cole’s voice cracks and he flinches again when Yang lifts his staff. He covers his face.

He tries to think—how to stop Yang and punch him in the face and so many other things but he can’t think. His brain’s all muddled up and his eyes bleeding and—and—

He sobs, voice cracking and hitching, crying without any tears. Yang steps forward, until his shadow covers Cole. He forces the end of his staff under Cole’s chin and forces his head to tilt up. He stares Cole dead in his eyes. 

“You need to be trained,” he says lowly.

“I’m not your student!” Cole yells back.

Yang lifts his staff again and Cole—Cole kicks his knees in. Yang flies back with a shout, slamming into the wall. He groans and Cole stumbles up, running away. He runs down the hall, turning the corners so fast he nearly slips. After a moment, he can hear Yang start to follow him.

Cole makes it to the stairs and stumbles up them. Yang catches up and grabs the collar of his shirt. Cole yells, throwing the both of them into the wall, pin–balling between them until Yang lets go with a grunt and a battered body. The walls creak but Cole flies up the stairs. Once he gets to the top, he turns around and kicks Yang down.

Then he continues to run. He’s on the second floor so now he just needs—needs to find somewhere to hide. He turns the corner and finds a series of doors, he freezes, panicking before he hears the sound of Yang stumbling up the stairs.

“F–Fuck,” he sobs and runs to one of the door—he doens’t even know which, just one of them and throws the door open. He runs inside and slams the door shut, his fingers are shaking badly but he manages to lock it. He looks around frantically.

He’s in a—closet? There’s a couple of dusty boxes and chests and Cole hits his knees. He shoves them in front of the door, leaving one behind. He curls behind it, shoving his face between his knees. 

He hears Yang start walking down the hall, his staff tapping ominously. Cole shutters, heaving a breath and struggling to muffle his cries. He slams his hands over his ears but it doesn't drown out the tapping.

He shakily extends his fingers to feel around his eye and flinches when they make contact. It’s—puffy and sticky with ectoplasma. He needs a mirror or something. His hand pats around where he’s curled up blindly. He jolts when he feels something. He runs his fingers over it and its—glass?

He grabs and brings to his face. It’s a glass shard, about as long as his hand and half as wide. The edges are sharp but it shouldn’t hurt him.

He positions it over his eye and sucks in a breath. It’s all swollen, puffed up and bright green. The skin around it is completely black. Ectoplasma is leaking—no longer dripping—out of the socket. Cole bites back a sob and lightly probs it, trying not to flinch.

It—it should heal. 

He hopes so, anyways.

Yang slams his staff into the floor outside his door.

“Cole!” he yells, loud and angry, “come out!”

Cole swallows a sob and presses his hands harder over his ears.

“Cole!”

“Stop—stop,” he whispers wetly, biting onto his knuckles to muffle himself. He curls into a tight, painful ball.

“Cole!” Yang screams, voice ragged and vicious, “this is childish! Come out!” 

“Jay—” Cole sobs.

It takes a long time for the tapping of Yang’s staff to fade away. Cole remains curled up behind the box. 

“They’ll come for me…they’ll come for me…” Cole mumbles into his knees.

“I just have to…wait…”

Jay shoves him down and lays directly onto his chest. He shoves his head under Cole’s chin.

“Oh-ho, sleepy?”

“Just shut up and sleep.”

"Hey Lloyd!" Arin called from the library, catching Lloyd's attention sharply as he tried to pass by. The call didn't seem urgent, yet Lloyd wasn't going to do anything of particular urgency either, so he decided to peak inside; he was also wondering why (and how) Arin was in the Library. Not that it had been locked, or anything of the sort, yet because the Library somewhere that Lloyd would have thought Sora would be, not Arin. Hmm, maybe scratch that. Arin would probably be in the Library if it meant he could learn anything about the ninja. Good dedication, he had to admit, albeit it a tad weird. "Yeah Arin?" Lloyd called back when Arin didn't turn his attention over to him, still engrossed in whatever he was looking at. When Lloyd entered the room, walking over to Arin to peer at the book from behind, he would soon notice it was an old photo album. Zane, Pixel, and Nya used to keep it up to date with adventures and general family outings. "Who's that? I don't think I ever remember a ninja wearing purple on your team before." Arin asked, pausing for a minute before he added on quite proudly. "And I know more about you guys than anyone should know!"

The photo that Arin was looking at was a group photo, one in front of the Monastery before one of the countless times it got burnt down. Sometimes Lloyd couldn't help but wonder why they didn't rebuild the Monastery out of something that was inflammable; though he guessed Master Wu always enjoyed coming back to a Monastery that hadn't changed. And Lloyd had to admit, it was also a nice change of pace of the constant changing world outside. It felt like a part of the chaotic world was standing still; even if that feeling was usually a brief one. Yet, in the photo, Arin would point at a Ninja who was piggy-backing off of Lloyd back. Well, maybe not piggy-backing. It was more of, at the time of the photo, they had jumped onto Lloyd's back and he was in the process of falling down. Meanwhile, Kai had burst out laughing and Nya was elbowing him, rather harshly, with a snicker. Though her efforts were rather targeted as seeing the rest of the team was already bursting out in bubbly laughter. Lloyd swore he could hear all their laughter echo in his pointed ears, like the day had just happened. But he knew he was wrong. His eyes became saddened as much as he tried to smile; if not to soothe Arin, then to soothe himself. "Ah, well, that's the Master of Crystals." Lloyd began to explain to Arin, who craned his neck back to look up at Lloyd. "...um, shoot. What can I say about them?" Lloyd tried not to laugh at his own short comings, a habit that he was constantly teased for yet he couldn't help. "The Master of Crystals?" Arin mumbled in echo to Lloyd's statement. His eyes filtered back down to the frozen photo, taking in how blurry everyone looked from moving. He couldn't help but crack a smile. "You two seem close!" "We were!... we really were." Lloyd's voice drew off a bit, his eyes glancing to the side as he still tried to wrack his mind on what to say. He knew if he said too much he would start crying, yet he also knew that Arin would want to know as much as possible. Yet how could he sum up them in words? That task, Lloyd thought, was impossible. "I wish you could have met them," Lloyd would find himself mumbling. "They were amazing, well as great as a person can be." Lloyd started as Arin turned to face him again, photobook still supported in his hands. "They were rather talented, some of their paintings are actually hung around the Monastery - well those that didn't burn in the fires. They were. . . wonderful, incredibly funny at all the wrong times. Fearless, in their own way, and yet reckless at the same time. Master Wu always scolded them for jumping head first into situations instead of using their head. "They were rather passionate as well, yet somehow managed to be a total introvert; they would not speak to the press, nor anyone they were uncomfortable with. Always gave one of the Ninja this stare that screamed 'help me'. Social awkwardness, that's the word for it." Lloyd couldn't help but smile as memories began to surface themselves after being dormant for years. Arin kept his eyes on Lloyd as he spoke, only occasionally glancing down at the picture to look of the Ninja that Lloyd spoke of. Arin couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't heard of them before. "They were also kind... maybe too kind." Lloyd paused in his speech, he had been rambling for a while before his words fell short. So much so Arin had noticed that Kai stopped to listen from the doorway; he seemed curious on the conversation, yet soon realized who Lloyd was talking about and grew the same solemn look. "What happened to them?" Arin was compelled to ask when he noticed all the past-tense that Lloyd was using when describing the Purple Ninja; furthermore the solemn look that the two grew when speaking about them. Yet, Arin wasn't sure if those looks were because the Ninja got lost during the merge. . . or if something before the merge happened.

The silence was more deafening than a rock-n-roll concert. Arin's brain was flooded with reasons for the sudden silence, ranging from the simplest answer (they were lost in the Merge) and the most complex scenario his brain could possibly think of. He would gingerly close the photo album and try and place it back into the shelf, "We don't have to talk about it if you guys don't want to!" He was quick to rush out. He didn't want to cause any sort of discomfort, and the silence suggested he had; that or he had just resurfaced some horrible memories that were being shoved away. Arin didn't hear when Kai had came over to the two, jumping when he felt the sudden warm hand on his shoulder, and gingerly glancing back over to Kai. He seemed in a much better shape about the question than Lloyd was. Arin knew Kai was trying to offer some sort of smile to soften the anxiousness that coursed through Arin - yet his smile wasn't very convincing. "They gave their life to try and protect us, kid." Kai explained, ruffling Arin's hair in another attempt to soften the mood. Yet, somehow Arin felt worse in hearing the news, turning to look over at Lloyd with apologetic eyes. Lloyd wasn't facing them.

Sora was quick to pick up on the more solemn mood that Lloyd seemed to be slumped in, not being as attentive during training or flat out spacing out - which tended to cause multiple accidents. Sora knew she wasn't the only one who caught on either. During her training with Nya, the Water Ninja continued glancing back at Lloyd with frowned eyebrows and eyes swimming in worry. Nevertheless, they both saw how careful Arin was around Lloyd, and Sora half wondered if some sort of stress caused Lloyd to crack and snap; she's heard from a few sources that he could have a temper on him. Yet, Nya pointed out how Kai acted around Lloyd and claimed that something happened that wasn't Lloyd snapping at Arin. Something much bigger. "How can something bigger than Lloyd snapping at Arin make Lloyd so. . ." Sora fished for the right word. Distant didn't feel right. ". . .I don't know! Not-Lloyd and Arin so cautious?" Nya glanced over at Sora, lips pierced in a frown, before her eyes returned over to Lloyd, "I don't know, but something did happen. Not Lloyd snapping happen, yet something. I've only seen Lloyd this despondent since-" And Nya stopped, causing Sora's interest to peak. She waiting for Nya to continue, dutifully noticing the rise of suspicion mixed with realization that swirled in Nya's eyes. When Nya did not continue, though, Sora asked with a cocked eyebrow. "Since some big even that caused Lloyd to lose someone close to him, and he somehow still blames himself over all these years?" It was a rhetorical question, laced with some humorous sarcasm, as Sora went back to her work. She was fixing up her mech, trying to add some enhancements on it so it would run smoother. All the while she was also trying to channel her elemental power without Riyu's help. This allowed Riyu to be able to lay in the sun nearby while intensively watching Sora's work, ready to bounce onto his feet if Sora needed his help. Sora noticed the silence from Nya, yet ignored it at first as she tightened a screw. Yet, after the third, the silence got a tad awkward. Sora glanced back at Nya, who was staring at her with a baffled look; almost as though she had seen a ghost. "What. . .?" Sora glanced behind her, seeing if she had missed something. Yet, she only saw her mech and came to the conclusion that she didn't. "How did you?" Nya's posture straightened as Sora glanced back at her. Now Sora was positively confused, "How did I what?" And Nya would roll her wrists, acting like that had carried the answer to Sora's question. It didn't and Sora was left just puzzled. Yet Nya seemed to get the hint that, maybe, Sora didn't know what she was talking about and happened to just take a rather accurate jab in the dark with her rhetorical question. As for Nya shook her head, clearing the baffled look on her face, before actually waving off Sora's puzzled look this time. "Nothing, nothing. I just thought-" And again, Nya wouldn't finish her sentence as her eyes drifted back to Lloyd. Sora would notice as she rubbed her neck, her eyebrows frowning more so than before, and a frown tugging deeper on her lips.

"I LEFT YOU GUYS ALONE FOR ONLY A SECOND!" Kai's shouting filled the court yard as Sora, Arin, Wyldfyre, and Riyu stood away from the gigantic hole in Monastery wall. Kai had gone inside only a a few minutes before a merge portal had appeared right above the Monetary; which both frightened and confused the four, seeing as Lloyd had used the dragon cores a few weeks ago! "It wasn't us!" Arin started, instantly trusting his hands up in the same way a cop would ask you to. Kai gawked at the four before rushing down the Monastery steps as Zane peaked door behind him, confused. Sora was quick to add to Arin's plea for innocence, yet she was cut off by Wyldfyre. "This was not our faults!" Wyldfyre crossed her arms, "Someone just fell out of the sky, crashed, and broke the wall! It was not me this time." Sora resorted just to agreeing with the two at this point. Kai groaned, and Sora wondered if it was out of laziness (for not wanting to deal with another broken Monastery wall) or out of 'I'm going to be killed for leaving you all alone!'. Either way he rushed past the four and over to the wall, but to Riyu's concerned growls, to check out the damage. He drew his sword just encase. "Fell out of the sky? But Lloyd should have stopped the rifts from reopening." Zane said as he walked over to Arin's left, staring at the rubble with confusion before he began to analyze the rubble as Kai began to carefully climb onto of it. "That's what I thought!" Arin shouted, thrusting his hands out at the crashed wall, "but then someone just- FELL FROM THE SKY!" Sora would add, "While being spit out of a rift. Though it disappeared after they got spat out." "Again, none of this was Wyldfyre's fault." Wyldfyre stated again, nodding in agreement to her own statement as though to add value to it. Nya didn't seem too amused as she rushed out with Lloyd to the hole in the wall and the proclamations of rifts and people falling out of them. Kai swore he was getting a headache from listening to Arin, Sora, and Wyldfyre explaining the situation again; not from their voices, yet from the sheer annoyance that these rifts were causing trouble again. Especially when they had all thought that they were taken care of. And just as he thought life was getting back to normal, or as normal as life after the Merge could get, life slaps him in the face. Again! Thanks life, you're really helpful. Yet Kai's sour thoughts towards life didn't stop him from checking the rubble and coming to a quick stop after he noticed a familiar gi lying on top of the white stone. His body froze at an instant, the grip on the Monetary wall tightened, both out of fear and unknowing how to process who laid in front of him. "Lloyd-" Kai called into the flurry of voices that tried to figure out what had happened. Gaining no response from Lloyd at first, Kai tried calling him again despite not being able to tear his eyes away from the person. Finally, "LLOYD!" "What?!" Lloyd shouted back to Kai, turning to face the Fire Master both confused and more aggressive than he intended. Though his stance quickly softened as he noticed Kai's face: pale white. A beat. Lloyd gingerly, yet with as much confidence as he could muster, walked over to Kai and where he stood on the rubble. As he approached behind him, Lloyd called out again: "Kai?" Yet the only response he gained was a shaking hand that Kai pointed towards the rubble. Concerned, and with adrenaline now rushing through his blood like crazy (the held silence from the others not helping his nerves at all) Lloyd climbed upon the rubble to come face to face with a haunting face. In an instant, it felt like Lloyd's world was turned upside down as his eyes flickered over every detail of the familiar body that was no longer mangled or torn, no longer gruesomely defiled in the most repulsive way.

Lloyd could still remember how their limbs hung on like strings, or were disconnected entirely. How their blood stained the concrete road blacker than it had been, how the rotting smell filled the streets before the war had ended and they were safe to burry their friend. The details rushed back to Lloyd quicker than he wanted; more graphic than Lloyd remembered it being. The shock, horror, terror, slight disgust all made him recoil away from the stones wall; it forced him to completely turn his back and cup his mouth in fear of puking. His eyes were wide, his pupils shrunk as he tried to get those horrible, god awful memories out of his mind. The smell he remembered that coated the streets hit him, causing him to hunch over. He knew this was all in his head, old trauma resurfacing to bite him in the ass for never fully recovering from that scene. He could hear the voices, panicked and just as disturbed (mostly from the original Ninja) when they realized who laid in the rubble. Lloyd distantly felt a hand on his back, but his mind swirled and circled as he felt like his gut had been punched. "What's going on? What's happening?" Arin panic sounded so far to Lloyd, and Arin seemed further when Lloyd turned to look at his student. Arin grew fearful as he saw the detailed horror on Lloyd. Nya was trying to calm the situation. Zane was examining the body, trying to make sense of what was happening. He first ran a diagnostic and the only words Lloyd picked up were "Alive", "Breathing", "Vital". They weren't mangled and torn and tattered, they breathed and were whole and alive. That was a wild concept to Lloyd, caused his knees to buckle. His hand slid down roughly on the Monastery wall as he crashed to his knees. He was trying to keep the tears from spilling over, hiccupping escaping his throat as he choked back sobs. "Can someone explain to use what's going on?!" Sora shouted as Lloyd balled his hand into a fist against the Monastery. Sora sounded distressed, Lloyd couldn't blame her. He couldn't blame any of the new students for how they felt at the moment, after all this was slowly turning into a shitshow of emotions. Lloyd could feel Nya trying to snap him out of his engrossing thoughts yet the felt all consuming; It's like Lloyd felt everything all at once and yet, somehow, nothing at the same time. He blanked out at the explanation the students were given. He blanked out for a while. He wasn't sure when someone had managed to move him, yet he now sat in the living room of the Monastery with his fists clenching at his pants and this sickening feeling still in his stomach. How can you possibly explain that the fact that someone who had died, gave their life, to protect something greater than them (yet somehow also meaningless after they gave their life) to students who hadn't heard of them before? Lloyd moved his hand to cup his mouth, trying to control his breathing as his eyes zooned out on the floor. His knee bounced now without the weight of his arm. He could hear Nya next to him trying to explain the seemingly impossible to the three students: "A long. . . long, time ago, during one of our last fights with Lord Garmadon, after Harumi had resurrected him, we were almost cornered." Nya explained, "Well, we had been running from their joint forces for a while, taking refugee in abandoned building of Ninjago, yet this time we had no were to truly run. I suggested we split up, confuse Lord Garmadon and Harumi and Lloyd said we needed to all stick together." Nya would pause, allowing Lloyd to notice how she had rambled a little and how Kai had to place a hand on her shoulder. There was a silent nod that was shared from Kai to Nya, something to reassure her. Nya took a deep breath before she continued, "To make a long story short, the Ninja you saw crashing through the wall was the Purple Ninja, Master of Crystals. . . (y/n). "They had, despite much protest, said they would ward off Garmadon and give us a chance to escape; promised that they would meet us back at the base-"

"Garmadon tore her to pieces." The growl in Lloyd's voice didn't go unmissed as he interrupted Nya. His hand pulled down from his mouth, pulling at his skin a little before he rubbed his neck. "Left her to die rotting on the street, limbs hanging on by threads. . ." His statement was followed by silence, stunned if not horrified silence. Lloyd didn't look up at the three students, who sat or stood nearby. He couldn't bare to catch their eyes, to catch the horror that their mind was crafting after the vague description that Lloyd left hanging in the air. The silence was thick, thicker than Lloyd would have wished. "But... but they seemed.. fine?" Arin choked out, trying to get some sort of positivity back into the room; or at least to get some people to start looking on the bright side. Despite the gruesome topic. "We don't know how." Nya answered, shaking her head. "The best explanation would be that she was fixed when their soul moved on to the Departed Realm? But we haven't seen much trace of that realm in the merged... nor have we seen many traces of other realms for souls, like the Cursed Realm." "Yes, and it is rather odd that she would appear now." Zane walked into the room, cleaning his hands with a cleaning cloth. Attention snapped to him in a unsettling way (from his standards) yet he guessed it was just worry for the Ninja he had just been taking care of. "Especially after Lloyd stopped the MergeQuake. We can only hope that means that the Realms are settling into their new place, and returning people to where they're meant to be. Yet, that would not explain how (y/n) managed to resurrect." Zane noticed how Lloyd didn't look in his direction when he spoke, yet he couldn't blame Lloyd, not after all they've been through. Not after all he's been through; Especially since he was the closest to (y/n). "Well, the only thing we can do now is just wait for them to wake up, yeah?" Sora pipped up after a moment and she would receive a nod from Zane. She made sure to think on her next words, as well as her tone, before she crossed her arms, "So then let's go do something! I'm sure your friend wouldn't want to wake up after being dead for so long to see you all depressed!" "OH!" Arin pipped up instantly. "I have just the thing!"

The smell of some sort of bread was the first thing that came to mind, the second would be the warmth of a weighted cover that was tossed up to my shoulders, and the third would be the softness of the pillow at my head and the mattress under me. The warm and softness coaxed me back to sleep, yet my mind made it feel as though I had been asleep for decades. Decades. A soft murmur escaped my mouth as I rolled onto my side, my brain slowly registering the sounds that echoed from where I laid. The sound of birds nearby, the clattering of pans, the sound of laughter and chatter and talking; Feet on wood floors and sliding doors. The smell of different ingredients mixing with the smell of baking bread or maybe pie. It was like the sweetest dream. I grabbed at my covers and turned again on the mattress below me. It was so tempting to go back to sleep, to let the soft, warm sounds bring me to a dream where I was with everyone again. That was until I had fully registered what was happening. With a quick motion I shoved the blanket off of me, sitting up, and looking around feverously. I stared at the room in front of me, all too familiar and all too haunting. My hands had a mind of their own at they first touched the sheets under me, then my cheeks and face, and slowly my whole body as I began to register something: I was. . . alive? How was this possible? Hadn't I died, oh I don't remember, a few years ago? This shouldn't be possible, it shouldn't-. Thoughts circled around my mind like a storm that could not be tamed, panicked and frightened, terrified and horrific. I tried to remember what I could not, at the time, and my only last thoughts were those of the moments before I had died. The feeling of my bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles all pulling apart are screams ripped out of my throat in a piercing way that still haunting me. The tears that streamed down my cheeks, the pain; oh the unbearable pain, all suffered to make sure that everyone else could hopefully see another day. So Lloyd could see another day. I raised my hand, feeling my damp cheeks. I didn't even realize I had been crying, and I frowned my eyebrows as I couldn't understand whether it was because the memories or the confusion. And I couldn't help but sit on the bed, my bed, as I reeled in all that was happening. I was alive, I was back. Yet was everyone else here? What had happened after I died? Did the resistance work? Is Ninjago City back to how it had been? Is- The thoughts brought me onto my feet and tugged at my gi, taking in a shaky breath as I felt it. My feet guided themselves, my mind in a foggy trance, to the door and out the room, down the hallway of the Monetary while following the sounds of voices and laughter. I was led to the kitchen, were I would stand at the door and look in at the scene: Lloyd, Nya, Zane, Kai, and four people I didn't know; three kids, one frog guy. They all were making Pies, from what I could tell, and they were laughing and smiling and joking. Kai had flicked flour at Nya, who sneezed and glared playfully at Kai. Zane was putting pies into the stove, helping as the kid with pink hair read a book out loud. Lloyd with a kid in orange stood at a counter nearby, seemingly racing to make the pie that the pink-haired kid was shouting. The frog guy stood nearby. I didn't noticed as tears flowed back down my cheeks as I stared at the scene, my mouth slightly agape. Everything seemed so peaceful, so right. I could only guess Jay was in his room changing because there was a massive pile of flour on the floor and on Kai and Lloyd. Cole probably in the bathroom from having eaten too many of the sweets, with all the empty pie tins that laid on the table. Nya was the first to notice me, she was about to throw water at Kai yet paused as her eyes caught a glimpse of me and looked back. I could see the way her eyes widened, realization and relief and overwhelm wash her. All I could give her in response was a small smile, a weak bit of laughter.

There was a brief moment were we just stared at each other, and the next thing I knew Nya had rushed away from her spot and enveloped me in a hug. And I couldn't help but hug her back, feeling tears form in her eyes as I choked on mine. "Oh fuck-" Kai mumbled, and I could only guess he had realized why Nya had not shot him with water and instead rushed towards the door. The room grew quiet, confused then realized, as attention darted over to Nya and I. Lloyd's eyes. Oh, his eyes. Despite the pain that rang through them, they way they scrunched and drew out lines on his face. Despite the way he could only meet my eyes for a few seconds at a time. Despite the way they reddened, looking like he was about to cry. His eyes were still lovely as ever. I tightened my grip on Nya, "What did I miss?" I mumbled softly to the shocked silence. I let out something akin to a airy-chuckle. "Most recently, the ending of MerqeQuakes which occurred when all the realms were merged together into one big realm; before that,-" Zane began to respond yet he stopped himself. He couldn't help but smile, and I swear he was about to cry (if he could). "Actually, that does not matter. What matters now is that you're back... and awake." Nya slowly let go of me, I could feel as she tried to break from my grip and I slowly loosened her. She was smiling, yet she was crying; choking on her own tears. I couldn't help but give Nya one last reassuring squeeze before I slowly moved around her and towards Lloyd. The silence seemed thicker as I reached Lloyd, his hesitance more noticeable as his brows thickened and frowned. A thin frown spread across my lips, I knew what this was about (that much didn't take me being alive for years to know). "Lloyd I-" My voice felt weak as I started, reaching out to Lloyd with my hand yet stopping. I balled it into a fist, seeing Lloyd turn away from me, and slowly dropped my arm back to my side. What words could you say to someone who you betrayed? Nevertheless someone like Lloyd, who's been through so much and the last thing he wanted (I knew) was to see my body on the concrete floor. Blood staining the road. Limps ripped apart by his father. I knew that so much that my last thoughts had been about Lloyd had how he would react when he saw the scene. My mouth twitched as I stood there, next to Lloyd, in silence as my head fell. Sorry was not good enough, it would never be good enough; no apology would be good enough to start trying to make up for the time I had missed. For lying, as I knew that I wouldn't meet them back up. For everything. For leaving him alone and making him bear the world without me for so many years. For not being there for him for whatever he had to go through while I was gone; it had aged him so, I could see the aged pain in his eyes. It would never feel enough. "I'm-" And yet, somehow Lloyd turned to face me. And somehow, he came to embrace me, hugging me tightly as though he were afraid I would die again. And somehow, he managed to be near me after everything I had done. And somehow, I had a feeling, we would slowly get through this. Slowly, I wrapped Lloyd in a hug and gripped onto his gi, just as tightly. I buried my face into his shoulder as he did the same and we just stood there and hugged tightly. And everything felt right, even if it was for a brief moment. Everything felt like it had and how it should here in the Monastery, with Lloyd: It felt like home.

Ninjago DR S3 Spoilers!

Feel like people aren’t talking enough about the Arrakorre episode.

Is this confirmation that Nadakhan only made the 3-wish rule up because he was a jackass?

Cause I’m pretty sure Nya and Sora (and maybe Riyu cause he counts?) made like 5 wishes already.

That or it’s the only Djiin Royalty that has that rule because they’re Royalty, they aren’t meant to be servants. Since Arrakorre isn’t Royalty he can grant wishes whatever he wants. (So long as it’s pure which, kudos to Arrakorre I already love you more than Nadakhan even more.)

Also Nya and Sora’s friendship. 10/10 girls gotta be girls and they are BADASS as hell.

Also this episode implies that Djiins actually can choose whether or not to grant a wish? Since Arrakorre straight up refused Rox and Dareth…

So what the hell was Nadakhan’s problem then? Was he still bound to the teapot? Was it because he wasn’t trapped in some sort of tech and a teapot was more powerful? Or is he really that much of an asshole? Bro was granting wishes left and right causing problems to both his team and the Ninja but Arrakorre straight up refuses.

Because you’re telling me a warrior is more powerful than the fucking prince??? Did Nadakhan’s Dad place some sort of punishment??? Cause nah he had no choice but to grant wishes to literally everyone.

Maybe Djiin Royalty has different rules??? Idk this is getting more confusing.

Seriously tho, episode was great. Love the scenes the friendships and all. And I like the fact that this further proves that Nadakhan was just shitty as hell… (Even though it’s implied he was banished from his realm and his entire realm hated him good riddance)

i don’t think Jays amnesia is accidental or legitimate

Jay knows his name his full name, implying that he knew it even with memory loss, and you might be thinking couldn’t the agents just tell him his name if he didn’t remember? well no one in the administration seemed to know who LLOYD GARMADON WAS until they broke zane out, they didn’t even Acknowledge Zane as a ninja when they arrested him implying that they have no idea who THE HEROS OF NINJAGO are

He knows he had lightning powers but nobody else knows this, which also connects to the administration didn’t know who jay was before or they would’ve informed him of his powers themselves and he would’ve known that they knew but he makes it seem like it’s a bad thing like bad things happen to Elemental Powers so if that is true why would they put somebody in the administration knowing that they have Elemental powers?

Still has similar personality traits to before (video games) so the memory loss didn’t cause Jay to completely loose himself, he still holds the similar traits to before. this seems more like someone took out the people and things he was doing and not erasing him as a person? idk if that makes sense but when Nya and Zane got their amnesia they blindly trusted people, the first person they saw who told them things and they believed them and they kind of acted differently but also they had no idea who they were they couldn’t even remember their name, so it just makes Jays amnesia more purposeful and thought out

he can’t remember anything before the administration- now he remembers all of his life at the administration but not a single thing before that? Also this tells us that if he woke up at the administration with no memory why would they give him a guy who knows nothing but his name a good position like a manager? it just doesn’t make sense unless they brought him in specifically, and why nothing before the administration, what happened to his mech? Did it crash and if so how did he not remember waking up at the crash and going to the administration, did they take him from the crash sight? And Nya told Zane that the merge was years ago no matter how many years it’s been wouldn’t Jay had to have had some sort of memories come back like anything? a face? a single memory? a name?

i had this theory i posted about where he also woke up at a monastery copy because i think there’s more out there because he walked right into where Bonzle was with no backup, none. Why would they send in an agent alone unless he didn’t say where he was going and instead just went along with his muscle memory and he was going to where Bonzle came from too so he knew where he was going he did not look lost once.

My ending point: somebody or something erased Jays memories it wasn’t just an accident or a bump on the head and i think most fingers are point to the administration/administrator, because it’s just weird timing that it’s just the administration that he remembers along with just his name, it just kind of seems thought out like they wanted him for a reason or something. There are things about himself that he knows, he doesn’t seem to be having an identity crisis so it’s almost as if someone picked and chose which things he could remember and which he would have to forget like people and his previous life. All the agents seem like they have something off about them too, maybe it’s requirement that they examine people who they believe would be good agents and erase their memories and take them which is why nobody questions it, it’s just what they know. Or maybe the Administrator works for Ras too and gives Ras amnesiac Elemental Masters for him like where did Tox come from? and why does it look like she’s on the bad guy side now? Maybe Ras’ plan B was getting other elemental masters to fight for him in the tournament of sources instead of the Forbidden 5 and to do that he had the administrator provide them and erasing their memories knowing that they wouldn’t willingly help Lord Ras.

Anyway that’s just a few (a lot) of things i think about at night

Alright, y’all already know. It’s time for a teaser breakdown.

Before I start, I will say that I will at times deviate from the chronological timeline of the actual teaser in order to accentuate or explain my point, or just because the images correlate to each other. Spoilers ahead, obviously. And just be aware that this is probably going to be a massive read (future cable who just finished writing: it is.).

So, let’s crack in, shall we?

Right off the bat, what I noticed immediately: This is a different punch than we’ve seen in the other Lloyd vision where Beatrix punches him (right). The lighting and background are different. Maybe this could be an indication that Beatrix is close to coming back? Either way, that sure is a way to start a teaser (I will be addressing the other part of that vision later)

Yay! Roby! By that selfie stick bit I am PRAYING that he *actually* has the personality that he does in that set promo video, because it now seems ever more like that. Also, hey! That’s one of the Explorer’s Club members! I’m assuming that he managed to find work in this Temple City after the Merge (good for him honestly tho he doesn’t look too thrilled)

Okay, this. We’ve already had this image as per the IMDB thing and we already assumed that it was Roby welcoming the ninja into the temple city, and through that I am going to assume that that image comes right after this one:

Which implies what I had already kind of guessed, and it’s that the ninja will have difficulty getting into the Temple City/ there will be some force trying to stop them. I actually first assumed this was the Imperium Hunters, but it seems like those are actually the Temple Guards.

Now, as per what I thought before and what I see here, I’m going to assume that this is a challenge already. In a sec I’ll talk about all the different kinds of challenges we see, because I think they’re quite interesting in of themselves, but because of that giant screen we see projecting the ninja (Lloyd and Nya) on Jiro behind Roby, this basically confirms to me that these Temple Guards aren’t there because they want to particularity stop the ninja from entering, but that they are just a sort of obstacle that any potential participant has to overcome in order to get into the city.

So, yay, the lizards aren’t being hurt just for the sake of it! How nice.

Then we’ve got this and. Uhm. Well first off what the fuck

But now to actually be serious, other people have already been saying this, and it’s the idea that the person sitting down (in what looks like almost a throne? Idk) is Nokt, and he’s sort of… half and half between the two worlds, which could bring about all sorts of things.

Edit: I have been made aware that this, in fact, probably isn’t Nokt (neither his body nor soul)

So what do I think this is? I have no fucking clue. I could say that this was my idea about Jordana getting mildly possessed by another FF that may have gotten out (because the way she acted at the end of p1), and honestly that seems to be the most plausible answer right now. Either way, to me, it looks like the other FF are either praying/ casting, or perhaps having some sort of meeting together? No matter what, it looks ominous as fuck, and something Kai and Bonzle (who we see walk up behind Kai) should probably not be walking into for their own safety.

*THIS* I find a very curious screenshot. Because yay Lloyd in his master robe HEWLL YEARH but also. He didn’t wear that before. In that IMBD picture we see him on the screen, and he is in fact wearing the green tournament suit.

I think what this implies is that THIS is actually for the The Feast episode, wherein I think they gave this sort of formal robe to Lloyd as a way to… I guess make him stand out as the leader of the group? Not to mention that they seem to be coming from a building and going into a new building and looking at something rather grand, which I can thus only assume is a big dining hall. I know people are saying that Arin looks too happy for it to be an episode farther in, but I honestly think it could be a facade. The fact that he’s holding open the door could imply that he feels the need to do something useful, at least.

However, the fact that Lloyd is wearing his robe also makes me think of another clip that we see:

I am going to say that I’m directly assuming these two things happen within the same episode. I haven’t seen anyone talk about how Lloyd is wearing the same outfit, and I think that’s with the assumption that he’s wearing this for the entire tournament which, as said, I don’t think is true.

What everyone IS talking about tho is the cloaked figure. Which, yk, is a cloaked figure. Of course I want to know who it is, but I have attempted my best at cross referencing any of the villain’s suits, and none of them match (A further post about that here). Which brings me to…

Something that I find very curious is that we don’t see any of Ras’ crew, except for Cinder. He’s the only elemental master they’ve got, and we don’t know whether Jay is *actually* gonna be there at all now, considering we didn’t see him whatsoever. Could this cloaked figure be Jay? Sure. But the suit doesn’t match up, either. Which made me realize that we don’t see any of the other fighters at all, really, which is… interesting, to say the least. Perhaps they’re just waiting to reveal what kinds of others powers there will be present at the tournament.

And since I was already talking about Cinder, let’s look at these screenshots, shall we?

What I get from the first one is that HORRAH Wyld vs Cinder rematch!! (Which means we can’t fully trust those fighting promo cards from a while ago because the fights don’t seem to completely match up). What else I get from it is that Shatterspin is allowed in the tournament, and by extension Rising Dragon! Which means that this is likely a tournament with rules similar to the Tournament of Elements, where the rules were basically that you could do whatever you wanted.

And for the second one. Good lord, I don’t even know. It just scares me, that’s all.

No, but, fr, what is happening. Why does he suddenly have Wyld’s power. Someone said this could be also like in the TOE, but instead of the loser’s element going to one person they go to the winner, which, yk, isn’t terrifying at all. You know what else isn’t terrifying at all? This bit:

I have much thoughts about this image, but I’m just gonna say what my first thought was, and it’s that this is Wyld accidentally setting something on fire, and then not being able to control it. Maybe even IN the Cinder fight. Maybe this is someone else causing it and Wyld gets blamed.

Either way, what I think is going to happen here is exactly that: WF gets blamed, and she will have to show that she’s grown as a person and wouldn’t just set things on fire anymore without reason, that she can help. Whether that works, or whether other people even believe her, is yet to be seen, I suppose.

(On a lighter note, I fucking love the little face of the flame on her back. The second letter seems to be a F, and the first one perhaps an R? I’m not quite sure. Anyways, it’s adorable.)

And speaking of adorable things:

GEO. HE’S HERE!!! He’s here and he’s cheering and I am going to selfishly believe that he’s cheering on Cole because GAH I need Geode to become real by the end of this season. God I hope no one at that Tournament is racist to Geo I would punch my screen

Ahem. Anyways. I guess what we can get from this is that those outfits seem to be spectator outfits rather than what the participants wear! And what we can get from that is that Geo will sadly probably not participate in the tournament. To be fair, it seems like only trained fighters will be attending, and despite Geo being able to kick ass, I don’t think he would be particularity good at it against people who have been training for who knows how long.

This also might imply he left the finder kids at the monastery in Mr. Frohicky’s care— which, yk, still leaves the question of how he gets to this tournament in the first place, as we do not see him in any of the screenshots where the ninja are still outside Temply City.

What I also realised from this is that we don’t see Euphrasia anywhere in this trailer. I’m still holding onto hope, so we’ll wait and see.

Then we’ve got all the Sora centric bits (which there seem to a lot of, which kinda tells me that she’s gonna be a focus and YES this will cause issues for Arin no one can convince me otherwise)

Anyways, as I said before, these images demonstrate to me what kind of challenges there will actually be within this tournament: Not just fights, but also what looks like a parkour and a race! Oh what joys. The first one actually kind makes me think that this is a challenge about ingenuity (due to that pole Sora is holding), but I might be reaching with that.

I didn’t get a screenshot of that lil Cole we see in that third clip as well, but I think that means we can safely assume that they're driving that combo vehicle we already have a set of, for which Cole gets the white and orange wedding suit! (Why? I don’t know. In my heart I'm choosing to believe everyone gets a similar outfit to that one.)

And that fuckass little dragon? I've got no idea. It kinda reminds me of Vania's dragon, Chompy, but also of those little Source Dragons Lloyd saw floating around his head right before he had the Master Dragon vision. Idk, it confuses me, so I'm choosing to ignore it lmao

And now the screenshots that I’ve been wanting to hold off on the longest… ho boy. Okay, there’s a lot here.

First off: This is before the tournament, and the next two images that I will be looking at are also before the tournament (the one with Lloyd falling), due to the fact that they are wearing their normal suits.

Second: The Matriarch. In the Kingdom of Madness area. As many people have already been guessing, this is likely where she thought to settle next after getting forced out of their previous home. But also, she looks… bigger? Idk maybe that’s just me. I also keep thinking that it’s the Energy, the Source Dragon that was imprisoned, or that it kinda looks like a bigger Zanth, but I’m probably wrong with that, as that doesn’t make much sense.

Either way, the kids seem to have to help her with something. And, to me, she almost seems… hurt? Like she didn’t call them there to chat or catch up with Riyu, but that she desperately needs help, perhaps something about her horde. Anyways, it concerns me deeply, especially with the next image in mind, which I cannot imagine being before that first one.

Other’s have been saying it and we all know it: that in the background looks like an Administration computer. The problem is that… it’s not the usual color (which was I think green? Berate me if I’m wrong)

So, what do I think happened here? I think the pictures directly correlate. I think what’s gonna be happening here is that the Matriarch wanted to move to this place within the Kingdom of Madness, the Administration was notified of the wrong kind of dragon activity, and is then trying to get them back out, most likely by capturing and deporting them, but maybe also something worse— who knows at this point. Somehow, the Matriarch got hurt, that’s for sure. Maybe she fought them, who knows. What I think will then happen is that either the kids attempt to find where they took the dragons, or they, too, will be captured and brought back.

What happens after this is entirely illusive to me. Of course they could be seeing Jay in that second screenshot, but somehow I doubt it (if this prediction comes true I’m gonna lose my fucking marbles). Either way they are seeing something that’s not normal, which has got to be something extreme, considering Arin has been in that place and has most likely told Sora about it. Maybe they just set off an alarm and that’s why it’s blaring red? Who knows. I sure don’t.

And these screencaps are just as a mystery (as said, these are very likely pre-Tournament, as Lloyd is still in his climber suit)

But what I haven’t seen a lot of people say yet is that we do know who that dragon is, as it appears to be Heatwave (you can see his face in that split second, in the first screenshot). It looks to me as if Lloyd was either deliberately jumping to one place and Heatwave caught him as to prevent that (for whatever reason?), or Lloyd somehow ended up in this falling situation, and HW is saving him (for whatever reason???). Either explanation scares me.

And last, but oh my god definitely not least, we have this clip of Motion. She is so gorgeous I don’t know what to say.

So I’ll just repeat what others have been saying, which is that this is likely in the first episode and the way that the ninja actually get their invitation.

Also I lied I do have smth to say: I feel like this could correlate to that one part at the beginning with Lloyd’s nightmare, where he also sees Motion. Perhaps Lloyd will be convinced that following this invitation will be a bad thing, since he saw it in relation to the other bad things (such as Beatrix punching him for a second time), but the others will convince him, for better or for worse.

Either way, this means that the invitation is personal. We can assume that this will not be some sort of trick by others, but that this is really Motion, inviting them to the tournament, as she was also one of the SDs that was up for helping Lloyd. This makes me ever more so believe that whatever the prize of the Tournament is could potentially result in Kai’s return.

Once again I am using tumblr as an outlet to infodump about ninjago!

disclaimer: I haven’t watched the entirety of season 3 yet! I’m just talking about the first maybe 4 episodes I’ve seen so far. And my highlights of what I liked/disliked about them. This isn’t a comprehensive analysis or explanation of all of the aspects I just wanted to talk bout specific things

Okay so firstly! I love frak, frak is great, Sora is good I suppose idk she’s fine I don’t care for her too much. Zane lore! We finally have confirmation that he doesn’t have taste buds which is kinda weird because obviously he doesn’t he’s not organic, but this implies he has no ability to taste at all. Which is weird considering we see him enjoy food on several occasions and that would imply he can taste it, right? I mean he can dream and so far more complicated things, I feel like it makes sense he has some sort of taste ability, though it was used as a one off gag about Soras pies so maybe it’s not true? Like an unreliable narrator situation? Not sure why Zane would lie about that though. Also why did he seem so turned off by Frohickys swamp tea if he can’t taste? I dunno it feels weird to me, like the whole Zane breathing thing (he canonically has lungs) but I digress. I’ll still be going by my headcanon of him having the ability to taste but it’s just really basic and limited.

Zane referring to Pixal as the smartest most attractive member of the team was amazing. I love their dynamic.. gosh I love Pixal and Zane so much they’re so.. cute!!

Now for the meat and potatoes

Anyway. Breadcrumbs include!! Zane getting reaaaaallly excited when he found Pixal!! He stimmed a lot in his own way, mimicking the voices of his friends to showcase them all to Pixal like an excited child. It was so wholesome and great! And it also highlighted how much Zane has been struggling recently, and that Pixal has been the only person that’s given him hope and allowed him to push forward, her voice in his mind while he does things, and worries.

Zane having more of his sarcasm and silliness :] Guessing what the bad guys would say, so peak!

And also Pixal being a badass we love her slay girl we love u so much. She’s great guys she’s amazing.

Lloyd actually defending Zane!! Like he stands up for him, points out how Zane is a person! With emotions!! And feelings and everything. When frak says otherwise.

Go Lloyd! I never really cared for u too much but you’re kinda growing on me a little. Dragons rising rlly helps his characterisation tbh

Tho! I am!! Annoyed!! Because whilst it is super in character for Zane’s first instinct to be another ||suicidal|| act of pointless self sacrifice when there’s clearly other ways to save the day. I get it his core programming is “protect those who cannot protect themselves” but someone really needs to stop him from pointlessly injuring and or killing himself just to save something or someone. Care about yourself too dude! Man really has no regard for his own safety.

It felt rushed towards the end, the writers don’t like to give us crotons of Information and angst, having the most important narrative element! Characters reacting to their trauma and the pain and problems they’ve faced, oough I just want some detailed right in ur face angst. Let the characters be totally upset and lost and let it sink in for a moment! Let it be there have it happen.

Braaaahhh pleaseeeee let Zane actually express the problems he’s going thru or showcase it in more ways that’s like substantial, same with the other ninja!! Ur doing pretty well with Lloyd and Nya so come on brah do it with Zane!!

Have Pixal try to give him an intervention or something. To stop him from doing this! It’s stupid and reckless u big metal oaf!

I just want the writers to give us the juicy juice juice.

This is why I will henceforth be dedicating myself to giving the juicy juice… as I have been in my own writings. Zangst!! Please! Yes!! Let him feel his feelings and recover, he has just been suffering and suffering and hasn’t really overcome these problems

But oh a good funny thing was Zane made a callback to when he danced with the falcon back in season 2? I believe? And told the dragon (I forgot their name) that dancing with birds is considered weird.

PLEAAASE come on! That’s so cute and sweet and sad. He’s learnt social cues and all sorts of stuff over the years, and he stops himself. From doing too many “weird” things because he’s been bullied for it in the paaast noooo nyoohohoho

I’m stimming!! Rn! I love this show so much I love Zane I love the ninja!! So good! Ugh!! So great!

Your Chimera Parents Au is now making me think about how in season 4 Kai literally developed a drinking problem and survivors guilt due to Zane's death.

I'm just here now sitting and thinking how worried about his mental health his parents are. Hell did they even knew at all ? Did Kai write to them or did he just cut off contact ? Were they staying in Ninjago more often to look after him ? Did they maybe started having arguments all around ? If Kai just went no contact (which i tjink was somewhat implied in the season) did they tried to find him before everything that happened with Chen ?

Oh man now I'm thinking about the tournament and how all of Kai's emotions about how he feels comes forward with the power of the elemental staff, that he didn't live up to his parents legacy and that HE should have been the Green Ninja. And thay now that he has all this power maybe he can FINALLY LIFT THE STUPID MONKEY STAFF

As for the second part of your ask: I think after the ninja temporarily disband following Zane’s death, Chimera would try to convince Kai and Nya to come home to China. And the duo would probably go along with it at first, desperate to take comfort in their family and childhood home as they deal with their grief. But Kai would probably grow restless quickly cause he’s just so frustrated with how everything turned out. He didn’t just lose one of his best friends but he lost his destiny too cause what’s the point of being the ninja if the whole team isn’t there?

And he knows his parents are worried. He can see it in the way they hover and try to distract or comfort him, from his Bama’s offer to train, to his Mama’s invites to go out racing, to even his Baba asking him if he just wants to talk. Kai knows they just want to help but it’s almost suffocating. So he maybe he takes the cowardly way out and runs away back to Ninjago. He just needs time on his own to sort out what going through his head. And why talk about his feelings with a therapist like MK suggests when he can just punch out his emotion in a shady fighting ring?

Of course, the moment Kai runs away Chimera is immediately working their ass off to track him down, cursing their luck that Kai has inherited MK’s tendency to run away from his problems. Like Father like Son.

LETS GO rambling and analysis time now that I finished part one

NOOOOO how is he gonna get out??? I will say him as the first to use rising dragon felt extremely deserved, I clapped and cheered during that fight scene. but now he’s stuck in the netherworld with the remaining forbidden five and that’s scary.

I teared up seeing Nya activate her rising dragon style in her grief for him. in the next part she’s gonna find out Jay forgot who she is too… so much heartache for Nya 😞

Really enjoyed Bonzle in these episodes as well, learning about her origin of being a spell, her journey of discovering herself as a person and finding a found family :’) at least she’s with Kai now….

and I’ve felt terrible for Lloyd every episode. him getting slammed by those visions constantly, unexpectedly, even in the middle of a fight which sends him spiraling, that’s so rough :((

It’s obvious they’re a representation of panic attacks/he has developed a canon panic disorder- like Lloyd literally says it at one point. they happen suddenly, give anxious fear about present and future events, he gets scared about having another one so he tries to cope by not sleeping (unhealthy coping method) and is taught later on to try accepting the feelings and ride it out which is a way irl therapists teach. good to see some more exploration of mental health in this show!! I’m glad the other characters are taking notice and trying to help too in the ways they can

…speaking of mental health, Arin has been interesting to watch. he’s reading to me more as an autistic-coded character lately (like that line about not understanding social cues???) and we’ve been seeing lots more negative self-esteem issues and insecurity from him in these episodes. him making mistakes during the training sessions, getting scolded, then closing himself off was hard to watch

How Sora decided to hide the truth about Arin’s “object spinjitzu” that saved the day at the very end so he would feel proud of himself for achieving something hurt my heart. she is such a sweet friend who wants her bestie to be happy and feel proud of himself but like- keeping secrets is gonna have consequences down the line. especially when we all know this is a touchy subject for Arin right now. it’s just painful to see how deeply Arin’s self-worth is tied to what he’s capable of doing, what he can and cannot do for the ninja team. he can’t use elemental power he can’t do spinjitzu properly, he’s already insecure so how would he feel to find out ppl are lying to his face so he can feel happier? he’s a string that’s gonna snap one day and judging from that beatdown moment with Lord Ras it’s not going to be pretty. I sense some sort of villain arc approaching for our son

The Australian rainbow serpent – exactly as the name implies. Rainbow serpent from Australia.

Chicken headed serpents – I didn’t know about this until I read @a-book-of-creatures excellent article on Crowing Crested Cobras. I need to actually research these myself, I read the article, thought “these are cool, I will add them to Dracones Mundi”, and then didn’t read/write/draw further (yet!!!!!).

The grootslang or ‘Great Snake’ is from South African folklore.

The kongomato, a winged dragon from the Congo.

The kurrea, a crocodile serpent from Australia

The makara, a creature like a crocodile mixed with an elephant from south Asian folklore: for Dracones Mundi I am making it a relative of the phaya naga.

The markupo is a large red-crested serpent from the Phillippines.

The ropen is a glowing, flying dragon from New Guinea – I might make it a relative of the glowtail in Dracones Mundi lore

Taniwha are water spirits from New Zealand – in Dracones Mundi I am making them a species of sea serpent

Wanizame or wani are sea dragons from Japanese folklore.

Vaguely planned dragons:

The Antarctic Jaculus – dragon I 100% made up, because I was bragging about how Dracones Mundi has ‘dragons all over the map’ and a little snide voice in my head said “what, even Antarctica?” and as Antarctica is not inhabited by people for most of the year it was difficult to find folkloric serpents, so I made up another sea-bird inspired dragon. Both cliffwyrms and Antarctic Jaculus have diving behaviours, which is why their inland cousin, the jaculus, evolved it's divebombing hunting strategy.

Butterfly winged serpent; very small winged serpent with butterfly wing patterns, 100% fictional with no mythology behind it (I mean. There is Pyrausta. But I think Pyrausta would be a different sort of animal, an actual insect, in the Dracones Mundi world, so butterfly winged serpents are not pyrausta)

Oceanic Turtle Dragon; I have the Asian turtle dragon, the European turtle dragon and the Congo Plated Dragon. Running around looking for folklore on ‘turtle dragons’ you end up stumbling into some fantastic artwork for Dungeons and Dragons involving their take on turtle dragons and something about a sea-turtle inspired dragon is really fun and cool. I will see if I can do something unique and different with this concept. If not, I will not be including the oceanic turtle dragon.

Pterosaur dragon; I made dinodrakes as dragons inspired by retro palaeoart of dinosaurs, and I thought “hmm. What if I did the same for retro pterosaurs?” – it turns out there’s a lot of cryptozoology in Africa I could research into for placing these pterosaur dragons somewhere on the map.

Snapdragons; snapdragon flowers need to be named after dragons, so I have a fun idea for a small cave dwelling dragon with petal-like frills and barbels that it uses to sense it’s environment. They also can emit an eerie blue warning glow from their mouths, not dissimilar to the glow of brandy on fire in the Victorian game ‘snap dragon’.

We open with the Forbidden Five in what looks like the Forest of Spirits attacking a truck with two civilians. Are they carrying some important goods, or are the Five just having some fun?

Rox is in the center of the Forbidden Five - is she the leader? Zarkt is the one who attacks the truck - is he the leader? Do the FF have a leader?

We still can't see Kur's face in the teaser (though what little we can see of them + their full appearance on the poster makes them look like a zombie/mummy-type creature). We can see the rest of the Five so it's funny that if not for the poster, we still wouldn't know what Kur's face looks like

Zarkt shoots a blast of something at the truck, causing an explosion. Is this the power of Misfortune? Theroxian magic? Some form of Shatterspin? It has enough damage to elevate the car and crack its windshield

Lloyd, Sora, Frak, and Riyu are looking at something in what might be a cave. Lloyd is in his climber suit, and I'm assuming all shots with the Ninja in their climber suits happen before they get their Storm suits, so this is also probably early on. Frak has a new outfit, likely courtesy of the Ninja. This seems to confirm he's joining the team, either as a Ninja or if not then at least as a close ally

Rox holds one of the prismatic blades. The camera then switches to a wider shot where Nya (now in her storm suit), Sora, and Riyu are all frozen. Rox is levitating and appears to have captured Arrakore in a small, pyramid shaped object (perhaps similar to the Teapot of Tyrahn). If the Ninja have been frozen by a static spell, it is unclear how they might escape, since not even Rox's soul being ripped out of Jordana's body undid the static spell - it lasted indefinitely until Jordana reversed it.

It's also unclear where this shot takes place - Rox appears to be doing some sort of magic ritual, and there are pillars and buildings, but this seems like a new location

Zane encounters another pod, like the one he was trapped in prior to DRS1. He's in his climber suit (so this is probably early in the season) and the pod opens. Is PIXAL inside? Is this some sort of third person memory where Zane is trying to figure out where he was?

Lloyd, wielding one of the prismatic blades, attacks Drix, who vanishes into a swarm of bugs. Behind him, Kai and Nya are attacking some bugs. Swarm functions similar to smoke, although if the bugs attacking Kai and Nya are also part of Drix's power, then he can either summon or control other insects as well. All 3 Ninja are in their storm suits, so this is probably a bit later

Lloyd now attacks Zarkt with one of the prismatic blades while Sora and Frak (it's really hard to see at the end of the scene but I'm pretty sure Frak is here) run up. Zarkt is surrounded by Dragonian warriors. Interesting, Lloyd is not in his Storm suit despite the prismatic blade storyline already starting. Maybe this takes place after the earlier scene where Lloyd, Sora, and Frak were looking for something? Did they find the prismatic blade?

Nya, Sora, and Riyu attack Dragonian warriors while Rox watches, holding a small, pyramid-like object (is Arrakore inside?). This seems to be the same landscape as the other scene with those 4 characters, so this is all probably part of the same interaction

Thunderfang roars!

Nokt attacks Zane, who is holding one of the prismatic blades (though not in his Storm suit) while a freebooter cowers in the background. Maybe the freebooters found a prismatic blade and now the Ninja and FF are trying to take it?

Kai and Drix fight, with Kai in his Storm suit. Interestingly, there are mushrooms in the background. Is this the Realm of Lee?

Zane (still in his climber suit -- I don't think we ever see him in his storm suit) attacks Dorama's Stage Manager, while Zanth is in the background with rocks pinning her down. Maybe Dorama will prove that an initially funny character who steadily lost his charm can actually have some longevity? They seem to be in a desert or otherwise barren land. Stage Manager has been attacked, with arrows and swords lodged in its body, though that doesn't seem to be impeding it. Did Dorama try to kidnap people who fought back?

Sora fights a Dragonian warrior in a location that looks similar to the place she, Nya, and Riyu were fighting Rox. The ground has an interesting aesthetic to it.

Sora, Lloyd, Frak, and Riyu all fall off a cliff. Frak's new outfit is much easier to see now. I assume Riyu will be able to catch the three of them, although I'm not sure where they are. Lloyd is still in his climber suit, and judging by this pairing, this may take place around the same time as the earlier scene with the four of them looking at something

One of the ugliest vehicles in Ninjago history drives through a cave. Based on the set, Kai and Nya should be inside. The cave actually looks similar to the cavern from S2P2's cavern run. I would hope this scene is more interesting than that one

Zane looks up as the camera shows Nokt holding a prismatic blade while the two of them are on top of a moving vehicle. Given the confined space the two of them were in earlier, it's possible that they were fighting inside this vehicle and Nokt managed to take the prismatic blade

Thunderfang roars and shoots a blast of lightning as something happens around him - either stone is surrounding him or he's growing somehow, or something else. He seems to be in the City of Temples. Maybe this is towards the end of S3P1, though I'm not sure if they'd spoil that so early on. S1P1, S1P2, S2P1, and S2P2 refrained from showing any of those episode batches' final battles in their teasers. This might instead either be part of the flashback that will kick off S3, E1 (the City of Temples happened to be in the first realm, maybe?) or one of Lloyd's visions. Or Thunderfang is released fairly early in S3P1 (say, around episode 5) so this isn't spoiling the end of the season. The poster seems to show the City of Temples so this last explanation seems very plausible. Maybe it's only after Thunderfang is released that the Ninja put on their storm suits?

The Dragons Rising logo has a new, purple, storm effect. This seems to end the idea that every season would be based around one Source Dragon (lightning in S1 for the SD of energy, fire in S2 for the SD of motion) since this new effect is very clearly for Thunderfang, not any of the source dragons (which means the lightning in S1 was probably for Jiro).

The description of the teaser mentions that the Chaos Dragon is the source of the Forbidden Five’s “dark power”. We know that elemental powers come from source dragons, Thunderfang wanted to be a source dragon, and that the Forbidden Five did not inherit their powers from their parents*. Perhaps Thunderfang directly gave them their elemental powers somehow? Maybe they couldn't use them under Thunderfang was free - the only time we see something that's definitely an elemental power is when Drix uses Swarm, and by then, some time has passed (the Ninja are in their Storm suits) so maybe Thunderfang is free by then?

Neither Jay, PIXAL, nor Morro appear in the teaser, although Jay does show up in the poster. That being said, neither do Arin, Cole, or Wyldfyre (they're not in the teaser; they are on the poster) so I don't think that says very much. Jordana doesn't show up on either, but if they're bringing back Dorama and the Freebooters, I doubt they'd drop her

Zane is never seen out of his Climber suit. Is it possible that his storm suit is noncanon and he goes from Climber suit to his new body? Or is that way too big a leap to make?

I do not care for the canon/implied canon ships. All of them are really bland or r just kinda shitty.

Technically not canon, but have canonically flirted with each other during the course of the show outside of flashbacks, and have support from the writers I believe. Wu and Misako. Like ok, yeah you liked her a decade or two ago, but that was still your brothers wife. The mother of your child. Being in a romantic relationship has to go against several brocodes. It's really iffy on Misako side too, because she's openly flirted with Wu while Garmadon was still alive. (Granted kinda evil, but still, they officially were still together. She still identified as her wife.)

Skylor and Kai: Girl x boy. Skylor really lacks any personality of her own. In the series, only being mentioned or referenced when shes necessary for the plot. (can't speak for the books, or any spinoffs) Skylor and Kai have canonically been in a relationship since the end of crystalized, and skylor hasn't been mentioned at all in Dr. Not even a quick "Reminds me of kjdfdfkhdfsh" Nothing. Even in the original series she was never referenced unless plot relevant. And it just gives the impression that Kai doesn't really care about her. She said it herself, that he's never contacted her. His excuse being that he's never had the time to, when there are times in the show where it's pretty obvious he did have time to see her, or at least call.

Jay and Nya: Just kinda bland, and feels like the obligatory girl x boy ship, because they can't just have a girl in the group and have her not be in a relationship. Gotta make sure they don't pass the bechdel test.

Lloyd and Harumi: I don't think I need to elaborate this.

Cole and Geo: They're just kinda boring. Geo doesn't stand out as a character and is just kind of unremarkable outside of being Cole's boyfriend.

Zane and Pixal: ngl I have nothing to say about them, they're cute. But personally, I believe their romanced could have been introduced better, because the instant attraction trope just sort of is a way of straight up telling your audience that this character was made just to be a love interest. Which pixal was sort of forced to be until later seasons, due to being Zane's version of Siri post season four.

An image of what seems to be the main cast for Wonderful.When it comes to the little bit of details being expressed so far it's a mix of weirdness but I generally have a good feeling over the upcoming season's theme and execution.The main idea is showing us that our leading Cure is actually a dog who gains the ability to transform into a human girl and of course a Pretty Cure.I can excuse her name being Cure Wonderful thanks to that,if anything thanks to the pun it might be better off calling her Cure Wan-Derful.

For past experiences her voice actor has taken credit for that's a character I know she's supposed to be Kanna from Dragon Maid.So using that for reference this isn't her first time dealing with what I think can classify as "Shapeshifter".Her dog genetics also say she's the Papillon breed which being more of a cat person I don't really have much experience to but a page on the American Kennel Club website did provide some handy statistics that might be worked into her character.

As I said already the naming scheme for the initial Cure Status Quo feels a bit weak compared to the motifs of previous seasons but I can excuse that when your team leader is an actual dog most of the time.

Bringing us to our next most major Cure we have a bit more info on,Iroha Inukai aka Friendy.Her name in magical girl form is likely rooted to how dogs get referred to as "Man's Best Friend".

Design-Wise I'm not quite sold on her default outfit and hope the fashion she'll get later on(When the seasons change or similar) and I think the hat would look better if it covered her whole head rather than being a tiny thing on the side.Her voice apparently being who does Anya [Forger] among a few other characters makes me really want her to be worthy of my ever expanding list of favorites and shows this isn't her first time being a magical girl or dealing with a weird dog.

Similar to the season we're closing off on we don't have true details for Nyammy and Lillian but it isn't too hard to put the clues together.

"Nyammy" contains Nya which is how Japan tends to express what English would call "meow".There is a white cat named Yuki present along with her owner,Mayu Nekoshiyama.

The pink ribbon placements sort of remind me how Blake concealed her cat ears in the first volumes of RWBY.With how order is place in the quartet Yuki is going to be the one who transforms first followed by her owner.Not too sure how much of a time skip this will be in the grand scheme but the little bit of info presently given on Mayu says she recently moved into the town."Lillian" might also be an odd choice of name considering the limited knowledge at the moment for it's a name that seems rather human instead of descriptive or constructive(Then again,Laura just used her last name) and seeing the meaning of it as a girl's name it's supposed to give a sense of peace and passion but at the same time it's based on lily flowers...Which I have seen several informative sources say are HIGHLY TOXIC TO CATS and it might be very telling that a cat is possibly implied to have assisted in her owner's Cure name.

Our last duo in the visual is currently more for the hypothetical theories right now than outright stated from initial visual choices.If it's going the way they're wanting us to think they're who I am really pinning the money on.

Glasses Boy is Satoru Usayama while his bunny's name is Daifuku

The former is definitely hinting to have a lot of those marks I said I'd want for a male cure successor for Tsubasa:

Classmate to one of the main characters(So he does attend the school)

Outfit hints he's going to fill the niche of the yellow/orange/gold member to the team

Ends up needing to be a secret keeper about the girls' being Pretty Cure

If he keeps his glasses or they turn into a monocle when the time comes and everything checks out that's perfection in my book.In regards to his rabbit...

Apparently that's one brave bunny not that I can read that going by the facial expression the first impression is giving.Need to wait for the show proper to truly see the loppy lapin in action.

Now for the final shreds of detail that more-or-less are "public"...

Whatever role these animals will be serving they very much seem a bit like an extended cast including recolors of the animals from Healin' Good

Lastly is our first shot at one of our monsters of the episode which this time around are starting out with the name of "Garugaru"

This might very well be best viewed as the Pretty Cure spin on some subject matters Animal Detectives Kiruminzuu dealt with and all we have to do is wait for the fourth of February to see it start to unfold

Can we talk about the implied effort to erase all traces of the Serpentine's cultural remnant and existence? Because I'm DYING to talk about the implied effort to erase all traces of the Serpentine's cultural remnant and existence.

Doylistically speaking, it's clear the writers originally intended for the Serpentine War to have occurred at least centuries ago, but when the show was renewed, they wanted Kai and Nya's parents to be part of that war... And instead of just making a select group of characters ageless, the writers simply opted to change the timeline so that the Serpentine War and entombment period happened within a single human lifetime.

Which is INSANE because like. How do you explain everyone forgetting, or at least being convinced that the Serpentine are just folklore, local mythology, even though the curator for Ninjago's biggest museum is a veteran of the Serpentine War??? The only explanation at this point (aside from the ninja having hilariously poor education) is that humanity went out of its way to erase all records of the Serpentine's existence. And even though there are still plenty of people alive from that time, their accounts are presumably ignored.

Ninjago lore is admittedly an inconsistent, constantly-retconned mess, and that's the real reason for it. But with how the show brushes past the entombment of the Serpentine and outright genocide of the Anacondrai (because unless Anacondrai asexually reproduce, the species is doomed to die when Pythor inevitably does), it really feels in line for the Elemental Alliance to actively try to hide the Serpentine's existence from future generations. Because it's easier to justify war crimes if the Serpentine didn't actually exist, meaning they're a fictional race that you can assign all sorts of atrocities towards in order to justify everything done to them, because in the end they're JUST a story!!!

It does seem like Kai was the only one who believed they were fictional, but yes, a lot of information about the serpentine seems to be incorrect, remember the museum they robbed at some point in the first two seasons- Skales comments on the inaccuracy of the painting, and then, if I remember correctly, the sarcophagus they steal appears to be a hypnobrai artifact, a fact that has its own unsettling implications. And, another thing to note, of the fangblades who's locations we saw, two of them were located in some sort of sacred location, one being in the fire temple, the other in a pyramid, and the third... Is buried under a human built amusement park, as though a sacred location was bulldozed with the religious artifacts still inside...

Although, I have to say, although only the anacondrai were reduced to a single person, all five tribes are victims of genocide.
