I’ll head to the chat later, but Thomastair for the ask thing 💖
oh look who's heree, hellooo 💘
first, thank you so much for the ask !! you know how much i love talking about them, this was just the perfect excuse 😔✨
also forgive me if it took me so long, i just had the busiest day! anyway, hope i'll make it up to you with these <3
who said “i love you” first
thomas <3 he blurts out the most beautiful and heartbreaking love confession you can dream of, voice quiet but firm, burning cheeks and trembling hands. alastair 100% cries like a baby (also tom says "i love you" in farsi because i say so).
who would have the other’s picture as their phone background
i feel they both would have the other's picture as their phone background, but if i must choose...then i'd say alastair. he's gonna show off thomas's pictures to every single human being he encounters like "look at my thomas!! he's so cute!! so beautiful!! so perfect 😩" god he would be SO annoying
who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror
thomas!!!! i feel he would write the cheesiest things just to annoy alastair and because he can't help it (alastair secretly melts inside every time he finds one of those notes and then proceeds to curse himself for being the most foolish lovesick man to ever set foot on earth).
who buys the other cheesy gifts
both of them?? probably thomas is the one who starts it (buying cheesy gifts for alastair quickly becomes his new favourite activity) but imagine alastair witnessing thomas's reaction at one of those cheesy gifts for the first time. he gets him something very little and silly and is not even sure thomas could like it but the moment he gives it to him the other boy gets so flattered, like so flattered. his face immediately lits up, his cheeks colour a deep cheery red and he can't stop smiling, eventually blurting out a faint and soft 'thank you'. he's so fucking adorable. to the point that alastair becomes addicted to it and starts buying thomas little gifts at every possible opportunity, even if it means spending hours in a shop just to find the perfect gift.
who initiated the first kiss
uh, thomas of course, this is also pretty canon hehe
who kisses the other awake in the morning
oh boy, i have read too many godly fics to not say thomas (also because i feel he's an early riser?) the way he would whisper alastair's name in the morning, slowly kissing every inch of his face till the man doesn't wake up with the biggest smile on his face....y e s. but im pretty sure alastair won't hesitate to kiss thomas awake when he has the chance (also thomas's sleepy face is the most adorable thing in the world and alastair can't help but kiss every part of it with such adoration and devotion it makes thomas's heart melt a little every time).
who starts tickle fights
jwkdjsj this is the easiest one: 100% thomas. oh, the way alastair would swear his terrible revenge while thomas can't stop laughing because that man is absolutely ridiculous
who asks who if they can join the other in the shower
yep, that's alastair (and after weeks of internal debating whether asking or not thomas wouldn't even answer, he would just drag alastair inside).
who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch
my boy thomass of course. also im sorry but thomas can cook....c'mon, he has been coached by the queen sophie herself. he certainly knows how to cook, and he's quite keen on baking if you ask me <3
he bakes alastair the best scones following step by step his mother's recipe (and will take revenge at his father for regularly embarrassing him in front of his boyfriend by telling gideon how much alastair liked his scones and never hid any of them under their bed. sophie will just laugh while gideon will shoot thomas dirty looks all the way through).
who was nervous and shy on the first date
BOTH!! they were both so nervous and excited. tom was panicking like 'omg omg i'm having a date with my life-long crush, and he's so beautiful and perfect and omg i think he likes me too...?? what if i ruin it?? HELP" alastair instead tried to calm himself down multiple times like it's no big deal alastair. everything is gonna be fine, breathe alastair, breathe. but as much as he wanted to cool off, his heart wouldn't stop racing and deep down he was so afraid to say the wrong thing and ruin everything
but when they both noticed how much the other was nervous (because of course they did, they understand each other perfectly) they started feeling more and more relaxed. anyway, they ended up having the best date ever and didn't stop smiling for weeks (of course cordelia and eugenia noticed and teased them for it <3)
who kills/takes out the spiders
mmm. i feel none of them is particularly afraid of spiders and they would easily take them out if they need to. and you know what? i think alastair is the one who deals with the hard work. it's not that thomas is afraid, he just finds insects gross and doesn't like to get too close and risk touching them in the process. alastair doesn't notice at first, but at the latest broken promise to take out the spider on the kitchen shelf, he just gets it and handles it by himself (thomas will swear he would have done it eventually and alastair will kiss his cheek like 'sure tom, sure, next time i'll leave it to you').
who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk
it's tooom. alastair doesn't ever get drunk (for obvious reasons), thomas instead does, but very rarely because he hardly ever drink (for both alastair and matthew's sake and also because he's never been that keen on drinking). however, on those rare occasions he drinks he easily gets drunk (not *wasted* levels but more *im gonna say the cheesiest stuff and be so clingy* levels). thomas is a very reserved and quiet person who keeps his sweetest thoughts and deepest feelings for alastair and alastair only, so when he's drunk he just says things he would normally say to alastair... in front of an audience. he's just more uninhibited... probably a little too much.
he pulls the first person he finds aside and starts a five-hour monologue about how much he loves alastair carstairs and can't imagine a life without him. he hugs and kisses alastair all the time, no matter if he's busy chatting with someone or doing literally anything else. thomas doesn't even interrupt him, he just gets closer, as if he can't manage to stay away from the other boy more than two minutes straight. sometimes he runs a hand through alastair's hair and starts giggling for no apparent reason. alastair is a blushing mess and struggles to stay focus all the way through.
once he turns to matthew and goes "math, remember when you said alastair's eyebrows are nice? well, i think he has beautiful hair too, it's just so soft. and his eyes are so pretty, like sooo prettyyyy. and oh my god his lips-" and he caresses every inch of alastair's blushing face while talking.
matthew wants to puke the entire time while alastair is still stuck at matthew's opinion regarding his eyebrows.

Bronze Age Women’s Jewelry Hoard Discovered in a Swiss Carrot Field
A set of Bronze Age women’s jewelry was discovered by archaeologists in Güttingen, Thurgau canton, northeastern Switzerland, in a freshly plowed carrot field.
The set, which dates to around 1,500 B.C., includes a necklace made of bronze spiked discs, two spiral finger rings, more than one hundred pinhead-sized amber beads, and spirals made of bronze and gold wire. A rock crystal, a beaver tooth, a perforated bear tooth, a bronze arrowhead, a few lumps of polished iron ore, a small ammonite, and a fossilized shark tooth were among the more unusual items discovered with these opulent items.
An amateur archaeologist named Franz Zahn discovered the treasure for the first time in August of this year. After the carrots were harvested, he was traipsing through the field when he noticed some bronze discs in the disturbed ground. Zahn, an enthusiastic metal detectorist who has found a number of Iron and Bronze Age artifacts in the Güttingen region, recognized the artifacts’ archaeological importance right away and notified the Thurgau Office of Archaeology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the farmer’s permission, the team from the Office of Archeology arrived the next day and quickly realized that only block recovery, that is, the removal and transfer of a larger area of earth of around 50x50x50 cm with the not yet visible finds to the laboratory. At the same time, the small excavation made it clear: There was no evidence of a grave. The jewels were probably buried in an organic container or sack.
The soil block was transported to the Frauenfeld conservation laboratory for excavation. Throughout the process, each discovery layer was meticulously documented. A similar find had already been discovered near Etzwilen two years ago.
These are typical “costume jewelry” from the Bronze Age, more precisely the Middle Bronze Age around 1500 BC. In total, 14 bronze discs were discovered. Spiked discs get their name from the round pointed nub in the center, which is surrounded by three concentric circles. Originally, each of the holes on the discs would have been used to thread a string or a leather strap, with spirals threaded in between them to act as spacers. On the site, there were eight larger gold wire spirals and eleven bronze wire spirals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As finds from graves show, women wore necklaces with these eye-catching discs, with spirals strung between them as spacers. Eleven of these spirals were found in Güttingen. In addition, eight slightly larger spirals made of fine gold wire appeared, which weigh a total of over 21 grams. More than 100 amber beads and two finger rings with double spirals complete the ensemble.
Was there a jewelry box hidden here? Were the bear tooth, the rock crystal and the selected fossils and stones a collection of curiosities or souvenirs from a visit to Klettgau? Or is there even more to it? Objects of this type may have been considered to have a special, protective or healing effect and may have been worn as a kind of amulet.
The set is scheduled to go on display at the Frauenfeld Museum of Archeology next year.

The Basics of D'ni Grammar
(research by Richard Watson)
D'ni is not an Earth language, but because the D'ni are so similar to humans physically and mentally, their language has similarities to some of our native tongues.
D'ni is often compared with Hebrew, since the two languages have similar characters and sounds. But there are many differences, with the most obvious one being that D'ni is written left to right, unlike Hebrew.
The D'ni alphabet has 24 characters, but there more than 24 consonants. These are created by adding indicator marks to a letter. For instance, the character for a "v" sound is the same as the character for a "b," only the "b" has a dot over it. Generally, any consonant without a dot is a fricative, meaning it's produced by air passing continually between the tongue and lips. A consonant with a dot over it contains a stop, meaning that the air is cut off. in the case of a dotted "v," the air is stopped by the lips. By adding indicators to their vowels, D'ni's six vowel letters are expanded to eleven vowel sounds in their spoken language.
D'ni follows a familiar noun-verb structure. Adjectives follow the nouns they modify. Adverbs follow the verbs they modify. Quantifiers such as "very," "extremely," and "really," which add emphasis to phrases, are indicted by numbers from one to twenty-five. The higher the number, the stronger is the emphasis. For example, the phrase "I am a little tired" in D'ni becomes, "I am tired to two." "I am very tired" would be. "I am tired to twenty." To exaggerate something, the D'ni would use a number over twenty-five. "I am incredibly tired," in D'ni could be written or spoken as, "I am tired to thirty."
There are a number of important prefixes and suffixes in D'ni. Verbs use a suffix to indicate both number and person (this is similar to Spanish). For example, the D'ni word for eat is "rees," which is the form it takes when you say "I eat." The suffix "en" is added to indicate that he, she, or it eats, "rees-en." "They eat" uses the suffix "eet." "rees-eet." "We eat" uses "et," "rees-et." "You eat" (singular) uses "em," "rees-em," "You eat" (plural) uses "tee," "rees-tee." You can change this phrase to a command by adding the additional suffix, "ah." To order an individual to eat, you would say, "rees-em-ah!"
Verbs use a prefix to indicate the past, present, and future. To say that you have finished eating, the phrase is "ko-rees." To say that you are currently eating, the phrase is, "do-rees." To say that you will eat later, the phrase is "borrees." Other forms of the suffix are:
• kodo (past progressive): kodo-rees (I was eating)
• le (perfect): le-rees (I have eaten)
• kol (past perfect): kol-rees (I had eaten)
• bodo (future progressive); bodo rees (I will be eating)
• boko (future perfect): boko-rees (I will have eaten)
• bodol (future perfect progressive):
bodol-rees (I will have been eating)
Other common prefixes are "re" for "the." The D'ni word for "book" is "kor," so to indicate "the book," the phrase is "re-kor." The word "and" is "ga," so to indicate "and the book, you would say "ga-re-kor." Suffixes can indicate ideas such as plural and possession. To make a noun plural, add "tee" to the end.
The word for "books" is "kor-tee." To indicate possession, add the suffix "akh," which roughly corresponds to "of." The phrase "Gehn's book," in D'ni is structured, "book of Gehn," and is written, "kor-okh Gehn." An adjective, such as "garo" ("mighty"), can be changed to a noun with the suffix "th," as in "Garoth" (Mighty One). You can change the same adjective into an adverb with the suffix "sh," "garosh," as in "mightily." There is also a special set of characters called the "Garo-hevtee," "Great Words." These symbolize important ideas of groups of words.

Well, I absolutely did not expect it to take an entire year from exp. 2600 to the next issue, but such is life, honestly. Either way I'm terrifically pleased to announce that exp. 2601 will be debuting this weekend as part of Spring Online Canzine 2024, Canada's premiere zine festival running April 13th to 21st.
This issue covers the eleven games released for the Atari 2600 in 1978, with essays on Space Invaders and the year 1978 to provide context. Even if you're not particularly interested in the Atari 2600, I think there's a lot in here for anyone interested in video games and their history, so I hope you'll check it out.
As with the first issue, exp. 2601 is being published in a signed, numbered limited edition of 52 and I'm also making it available as a PDF and ebook for people who don't want a little object, but still want something to read on an iPad or a Kindle with a bit more focus than they'd give to a webpage.
I am opening pre-orders here today, in advance of Canzine, so I can announce the issue with enough time to ensure subscribers know about it and are aware that they automatically receive 35% off in our ko-fi shop (including on new issues.) It's just $1 per month to become a subscriber, and you'll also get new articles a week early (as well as regular exclusive articles.) Physical copies will be sent out in the last week of April, with digital copies arriving as soon as Canzine begins.
Tumblr media
In addition, and not to bury the lede here, for the first time since 2020 my ebook collecting the best of the original run of exp., exp. negatives, is also available for pre-order today, and will be on sale during, and only during, Spring Online Canzine 2024 (to reiterate: April 13th-21st).
If you don't have any of my available digital publications (exp. 2600, 2601, and negatives) I have also made a bundle of all three available for pre-order with a $2 discount for all (and if you're a subscriber, that stacks with your discount!)
I'd like to thank everyone reading this for their support across the years and let you know that there are more exciting things in the pipeline for exp. this year. Did you know it's been ten years since I started Every Game I've Finished? That fact might become important...

“California is America, only sooner” was an optimistic phrase once used to describe my home state. The Golden State promised a spirit of freedom, innovation, and experimentation that would spread across the nation. And at the heart of the state’s flourishing was a four-letter word: math.
Math made California prosper.
It’s most obvious in top universities like Stanford, Caltech, Berkeley, and UCLA. Those schools funneled great minds into California STEM enterprises like Silicon Valley, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and aeronautical engineering. Both the Central Valley and Hollywood—America’s main providers of food and fodder, respectively—rely upon engineering to mechanize production and optimize output.
All of this has made California’s GDP $3.6 trillion—making it the fifth largest economy in the world as of last year.
But now “California is America, only sooner” is a warning, and not just because of the exodus of people and jobs and the decay of our major cities, but because of the state’s abandonment of math—which is to say its abandonment of excellence and, in a way, reality itself.
Perhaps you’ve read the headlines about kooky San Francisco discarding algebra in the name of anti-racism. Now imagine that worldview adopted by the entire state.
On July 12, that’s what happened when California’s Board of Education, composed of eleven teachers, bureaucrats, professors—and a student—decided to approve the California Mathematics Framework.
Technically, the CMF is just a series of recommendations. As a practical matter, it’s the new reality. School districts and textbook manufacturers are already adapting to the new standards.
Here are some of them:
Most students won’t learn algebra until high school. In the past, when that was expected of middle schoolers, the CMF tells us, “success for many students was undermined.”
This means calculus will mostly be verboten, because students can’t take calculus “unless they have taken a high school algebra course or Mathematics I in middle school.”
“Detracking” (ending advanced courses) will be the law of the land until high school; students will be urged to “take the same rich mathematics courses in kindergarten through eighth grade.”
Lessons will foreground “equity” at the expense of teaching math basics like addition and subtraction. “Under the framework, the range of student backgrounds, learning differences, and perspectives, taken collectively, are seen as an instructional asset that can be used to launch and support all students in a deep and shared exploration of the same context and open task,” the CMF continues. It adds that “learning is not just a matter of gaining new knowledge—it is also about growth and identity development.”
Letter grades will be discouraged in favor of “standards-based assessments.” (It’s unclear what those are.)
Never mind that before California lowered its standards, the United States already ranked far behind the best-performing countries in math—places like Singapore, China, Estonia, and Slovenia. All those countries teach high school students calculus and, in some cases, more advanced linear algebra. (If we’re really in the midst of a cold war with China, we sure aren’t acting like it.)
The California Board of Education thinks the CMF is exactly what’s needed. That’s because the board has a fundamentally different approach to education—and it’s important that all Californians, indeed, all Americans, understand that.
The board’s overriding concern is not education or mathematical excellence, but minimizing racial inequity. Since a disproportionate number of white and Asian kids perform at the high end of the mathematics spectrum, and a disproportionate number of black and Latino children are at the bottom end, the board was left with two options: pull the bottom performers up, or push the top performers down. They did the easier thing.
In case anyone is wondering whether this works, whether it actually achieves greater racial equity, we need only look to San Francisco, which adopted CMF proposals like detracking before the CMF formally did.
“I want to be very clear on one fact that is based in our data: our current approach to math in SFUSD is not working,” San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent Matt Wayne said. “That is a tragedy, because we want to do right by our students. And we’re not meeting our goals around math. And particularly our students, especially black and brown students, are not benefiting from the current way we do math in the district.”
I emailed Jo Boaler, a Stanford education professor, one of the CMF’s authors, and a co-founder of youcubed, a center at Stanford that has pioneered ideas about equity and math education that figure prominently in the plan. I wanted to know what I was missing. What Matt Wayne was missing.
Boaler replied that she didn’t have much to say about the CMF and that she was a “small cog in the system that produced the framework.”
When I pressed her to see if she could offer any thoughts about the ideas behind the CMF—ideas she’s well versed in—she suggested I speak with “lead writer” Brian Lindaman, a math education professor at Chico State. Lindaman did not reply to my email.
Eventually, I did manage to speak with Kyndall Brown, the executive director of UCLA’s California Mathematics Project, which is charged with implementing the CMF.
I started by saying the CMF is clearly focused on racial inequity—noting, for example, that Chapter 2 is all about equity and that it’s shot through with mentions of racial “disparities” and “gaps” when it comes to “student outcomes.”
Brown, who, like other CMF supporters, believes those disparities are largely, if not entirely, the fault of racially or culturally insensitive teaching methods, replied simply: “Do you know how racist that sounds?”
When I asked him what, exactly, was racist about that, he replied: “What mathematicians of color did you learn about as a student? What female mathematicians did you learn about?” (He appeared to be alluding to medieval Arab contributions to the fields of algebra and number theory—which are fascinating and important when studying the history of ideas, but not obviously germane when teaching ninth graders about quadratic equations.)
The thing is, the CMF will exacerbate racial inequities. I went to a private school in Los Angeles filled with white and Asian students, and I know exactly how those kids—and definitely their parents—would react if they were told they could no longer take advanced math. They would enroll in rigorous programs outside school, like the Russian School of Mathematics, that would push them way beyond wherever their peers are. By the time college applications came along, the racial gap would be more like a yawning chasm.
I turned to Alan Schoenfeld, a Berkeley education professor who advised members of the Board of Education on the CMF, to see what he thought about this, and he said the same thing opponents of affirmative action have—that lower-performing students might perform better and develop greater confidence if they’re in a less rigorous environment. “Now some of them are going to turn out to enjoy mathematics, and they’re going to pursue mathematical careers,” Schoenfeld told me.
Ian Rowe, a CMF critic best known for founding several independent schools in the Bronx, said of the plan’s supporters: “They’ve embraced this ideology of oppressor-oppressed framework, where it’s assumed that black kids are these marginalized, oppressed human beings, and white kids are somehow the privileged oppressors. You see this all across the country, where expectations are being lowered in the name of equity by teachers and principals to somehow level the playing field.”
Let’s be clear: the CMF is racism pretending to be progressive, and all the fancy ed speak—about “frameworks” and “detracking” and “identity development”—can’t obscure as much. Indeed, the ideological gap is basically nonexistent between CMF supporters and reactionaries who once thought black and Latino kids were cognitively or culturally incapable of advanced mathematics.
We should be blaring this from the rooftops and on our social media feeds, over and over—lest we lose the California Dream, a.k.a. the American Dream, which once made this place so special.

Kids can't fail math if you don't teach it to them.

How to fail miserably at making pancakes: a comprehensive guide by yours truly
Step one: Be me! (0/10, would not recommend)
Step two: Overhear someone mention pancakes, and remember how much you enjoy them. Huh, it’s kinda weird that you haven’t eaten them in a while!
Step three: Remember that it is Shrove Tuesday aka Pancake Day today - the perfect opportunity to make some pancakes if ever there was one. What could possibly go wrong?
Step four: Conveniently forget that all your previous attempts to make pancakes have ranged from mediocre to outright disastrous. The tragedy of your repeated failures is a yearly leitmotif in the symphony that is your life but, alas, you’ve mangled the lyrics into nonsensical mondegreens.
Step five: Look up a recipe! It’s important that you don’t use the same recipe twice for that all-important unfamiliarity with what you’re doing. Bonus points if it only has the absolute bare minimum of instructions!
Step six: Despite being the sort of person who is, ordinarily, a measure-out-the-ingredients-exactly-to-the-gram, any-deviation-from-the-recipe-is-sacrilege type of baker, decide to use the recipe merely as inspiration rather than following it faithfully. It makes sense to you that pancakes should be measured by what feels right in your heart, and not by the dry, lifeless words of someone who has taken the time to perfect a recipe and post it on the internet. Besides, why would the measurements be in cups if precision was important?
Step seven: Realise that you are using self-raising flour instead of the plain/all-purpose flour the recipe probably intended. Unsure whether to still add the stated amount of baking powder or to omit it entirely, you reach an unhappy compromise whereby you add an arbitrary amount that is between these two extremes. On a whim you also add some cocoa powder. Chocolate can make anything better, right?
Step eight: Notice that, on mixing the ingredients together, it is somewhat runnier than anticipated, and sprinkle in some extra flour; it’s not important how much. The mixture now has unappealing lumps in it. At this stage the alarm bells have begun to ring, but you are ignoring them with all the zeal you usually reserve for procrastinating important life stuff in the naive hope that this will magically result in delicious pancakes (it will not).
Step nine: Time to start cooking! You break out your special tiny pancake-sized frying pan and, after heating a little oil, scoop a dollop of pancake mixture into the pan in eager anticipation. It sizzles and bubbles enticingly. Is this what success looks like?
Step ten: One side successfully cooked, it is time to flip the pancake! It is now that a crucial piece of information finally makes it to the forefront of your brain: you are utterly incompetent at pancake flipping. You’re (rather ironically) a total flop. If someone put a gun to your head and told you to perfectly (or even adequately) flip this pancake on pain of death, the resulting splatter of brains against the kitchen wall would be significantly less messy than the carnage resulting from what you are about to do next. You tentatively lift the edge of the pancake with the spatula and, buoyed by its apparent solidity, attempt to cleanly lift it off of the pan. It instantly crumples like an accordion. It takes several more attempts to turn it over.
Step eleven: Congrats, you’ve cooked your first pancake! You warily take a bite and discover it’s only edible with the addition of copious amounts of golden syrup. You can live with that. It’s disappointingly flat though, and you wanted really fluffy pancakes. Maybe you should have added the rest of the baking powder? You add the extra baking powder to the remaining mixture. It’s even lumpier now.
Step twelve: Time to make pancake number two! The first one was just a practice so this next one can only be better. At the last minute you add extra pancake batter to the pan in the hope of getting that additional height on the pancake. A foolproof strategy, you think to yourself. You flip the pancake. A tsunami of pancake mixture sloshes over the edge of the pan, while the cooked side is busy drowning itself in the excess batter that remains. You utter a small, sad sigh of defeat and transfer the cooked pancake to your plate.
Step thirteen: Third time lucky? you find yourself thinking. Surely you’ve got the hang of it by now, or at the very least learnt from your mistakes. You add a reasonable amount of batter, wait for it to cook, and flip it with more confidence than you have any right to possess given your previous two attempts. The pancake promptly lands half out of the pan, forcing you to corral the wayward mixture back in. Most of the outside of the pan is now coated in pancake batter.
Step fourteen: Internally weeping at the knowledge you’ll have to scrub both the frying pan and the hob later, you attempt to save time by scraping the worst of the batter off the pan while the pancake finishes cooking. You’re using a gas hob. Pancake mixture, as it turns out, works quite well as the fuel for a fire, and instantly catches alight when brought into the proximity of the naked flame. You stare at the flaming batter on the edge of the spatula and debate the respective merits of using the fire blanket versus letting the inferno erase all evidence of your pancake-related crimes.
Step fifteen: Wanting neither the hassle of walking across the room to fetch fire safety equipment nor having to explain to your flatmates why you burnt the flat down, you instead decide to gently decant the batter onto the metal of the hob next to the one you’re using and let the fire burn itself out. You find it nostalgically reminiscent of all the times you used to torch random objects in the Bunsen burner at school. Ah, science.
Step sixteen: You suddenly remember that, this whole time, your final pancake was still cooking, and transfer it to the plate with the others. The bottom of it is, of course, rather burnt. You are glad that pancakes are unable to render judgement, as you are certain that if they could this malformed stack would wholeheartedly condemn you.
Step seventeen: Now to consume the efforts of your labour! In the interests of your limited budget and minimising food waste, you resolve yourself to eating the entire thing in a state of misery and despair. You take a bite. They taste of baking powder and regret.
Step eighteen: Vow to never make pancakes again. You definitely won’t forget this time! (You definitely will)

Nuts and Dolts Week DAY 7 - Reunion
Day 7 of @nuts-and-dolts-week, and look another AU version(though who knows maybe it might come true...please CRWBY🥺)
Anyway hope you’ll enjoy the story and are ready for the finale tomorrow.
Penny was extremely nervous, checking her hair and makeup again in the mirror. A small part of her brain told her that this was just the panic talking to her. However, a larger portion kept telling her that something was amiss, and she just didn’t see it.
“Penny!” her father called out, “are you coming down for breakfast?”
“Almost father!” she responded as she finally just turned away from the mirror. She had numerous plans and backup plans all ready for this day. Already she had crossed off thirty percent of her accumulated plans, and that number was only growing. Swiftly she did a final check of her outfit. It was a lighter style of her normal outfit, the sleeves significantly reduced and much of the fluff of her winter outfits was not present. She also had finally nailed a new swathe of colors for her outfits. The greens and whites where still dominate, but now she had started adding highlights of maroon and silver.
A soft smile teased its way on her face as she looked at her new colors. Ruby had done so much for her, awakening her true self, saving her twice, and even taking her on her first ice cream outing. Yes, that was important and yes, she did enjoy the mint chocolate chip.
“Penny!!” her father shouted again.
“Coming!” Penny shouted as she did a quick scan of her plans, before dashing out of her room.
“Slow down Penny,” Her father Pietro chuckled at his daughter’s exuberance, “We’ve still got plenty of time before they arrive,”
“Forty-five minutes and eleven seconds to be precise father,” Penny chirped, though she did sit down at their small dinner table. Pietro couldn’t help but give her a rueful grin. Sure, she no longer was directly connected to the CCTS but throughout her recovery she had made it a point to regain her old accuracy.
“Right you are,” he stated as he slides a plate of pancakes in front of her. “Just enough time to enjoy your breakfast, with your old man,”
“Thank you, father,” Penny said as she leaned up to give him a kiss. The past year or so had been a wonderful for the two. They had finally had time to properly bond as a family. No military oversight, no classified information being withheld, and nothing to call them away from each other. Sure, her father was busy at times with his projects around Vacuo, but he could easily come back home if she needed him. Likewise, he could check on her when she went exploring and training. In the end the two had solidified their family again, and if Penny was honest, it felt even better.
Penny sighed as she took a bite out of her pancakes. She was never going to get used to these fluffy treats Nora had shared with her. Not to mention the numerous toppings one could put on such stacks added so much potential to a breakfast. Her father turned on the tv, and the buzz of the daily news drifted through. It was this calm atmosphere that Penny had grown accustom to in the mornings, and yet her earlier nerves were coming back in force.
Pietro, having gotten time to know his daughter, could see such signs now.
“It will be fine Penny,” he stated, drawing Penny’s gaze toward him “I doubt your friends are going to be disappointed with just spending time with you,”
“I…it’s just that it’s been so long,” Penny said, a bit of sadness entering her voice, “what if something’s changed—”
“Oh, something definitely will have changed,” Pietro chuckled, earning himself a glare from his daughter.
“Father, you know what I meant,” Penny said annoyed, “It’s just that—”
“That you’re over thinking Penny,” Pietro cut in as he gave a hug to his daughter, “you get that from me,” he said grinning as he spotted a smile on his daughter’s face again. Fortunately, the weather report came up and took Penny’s attention. Some of her plans required specific weather patterns.
Of course, no amount of additional information could change when they had to leave, and soon Penny found herself standing at the entrance of the airship gate, alone. Her father had work, which she had known would happen. Not that he didn’t offer to stay with her. She however needed to do this herself. At least that’s what she told herself.
Seconds turned to minutes and that turned into an eternity for her. She knew the darker thoughts her brain was currently hitting her with was just that, thoughts, but those thoughts were getting louder. She knew she wasn’t full healed from the war, especially considering she had met death twice.
“ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Flight V44092 has landed,” the speakers suddenly spoke and Penny felt her world freeze. Here it was, the moment of truth. Well almost the moment, they had to deboard the airship, get their bags and—
“WOOSH!!”
Penny’s thoughts were suddenly crashed as a bolt of red slammed into her. With a twirl Ruby spun her friend around all the while crying out how good it was to see her. Penny’s mind immediately crushed most of her worries. After all it was hard to argue with Ruby’s hugs, the warmest most comfortable hug that Penny ever experienced.
“Penny?” Ruby’s voice suddenly brought Penny out of her daydreaming and for the first time Penny realized she looked up at Ruby. Her friend had grown at least another three inches, her hair a wild mess of locks, but her face still held that open friendliness that led her to be the Hero of Remnant. “Ah Penny?” Ruby pressed a little worried at the wide-eyed stare her friend was giving her, she knew she was a bit of a mess, but she didn’t look that bad right?
“You’ve gotten taller,” Penny finally said as Ruby set her down.
“Yep, dad’s height finally kicked in,” Ruby declared as she stepped backed and flexed her height. However, she got nervous when Penny simply stared at her. “What? Is there something on my face?”
“No,” and Penny stepped back in to initiate her own hug, and basking in the sense of comfort she had missed from Ruby.

I have a friend who uses hex codes but does not understand them. They would like to understand hex codes, but to do so you need to be able to either learn from the ground up or be willing to do the mental equivalent of walking onto an invisible platform.
To that end, I will try to make it make a little bit more sense here and for future reference.
The hex code for a color is called a hex code not because there are six values but because it uses hexadecimal.
Hexadecimal is base-sixteen.
(Decimal is base-ten.)
(Binary is base-two.)
Colour hex codes are comprised of three values. Each value is two place values in length. In base-ten this would be a range of one hundred possible values because ten to the second power (the number of place values) equals one hundred.
In base-sixteen this is a range of 256 possible values because sixteen to the second (again, two place values) power is equal to 256.
We use three subpixels in each pixel to make a range of colours using red, green, and blue.
These subpixels mix according to the additive colour theory. Green and red without blue makes yellow. To our eyes, they destructively interfere with each other and their combined intensity determines the brightness of the yellow. Their ratio determines the hue of yellow. Yellow and blue destructively interfere to produce white, with the ratio determining the colour temperature. Blue and green without red makes cyan. Blue and red without green makes magenta.
Why base sixteen for colours?
Computers are built off of binary and sixteen is a nice power of two
The other two options are binary or decimal
Binary gets really long and a colour code would be prohibitively long to remember.
Decimal with two place values is a huge variety of colours, but they're distinct enough to prevent a nice, blending spectrum. *(I'm not certain of this)
Decimal with three place values is well beyond the acuity with which humans can visually differentiate colours.
In 8-bit architecture, two place values of hexadecimal is one byte or eight bits, and this allows for a fairly high information density. Three bytes per pixel. Not bad.
Red is the first two places. Green is the next two. The final two places are blue.
The first digit of each value is more coarse than the second. This also happens in base-ten. If you have five $10 notes for something that costs $26, you can just hand a cashier three of those $10 notes and receive back four $1 notes. Or, you can hand over two $10's and six $1's. But $36 in cash tendered is significantly more overkill than $27, if you gave over one more bill of either.
Now to explain the letters.
Base-ten has ten digits. The first digit is 0. The second digit is 1. The third digit is 2. The fourth is 3. And so on until the tenth digit is 9.
Base-sixteen needs sixteen digits, but we only have ten. So how do we make up the difference? Add the first six "digits" of the alphabet (letters A through F)
The first digit of hexadecimal is still 0 and the tenth digit is still 9. The eleventh digit of hexadecimal is A. The twelfth is B. The thirteenth is C. Et cetera until the sixteenth digit is F.
Something similar is seen in many card games using a standard fifty-two-card deck. Jacks, being the next face value up from 10, are equal to eleven. Then queens are equal to twelve. Etc.
Hexadecimal F equals decimal 15. In hexadecimal, F can be read as fifteen in whatever place value it occupies.
The uppercase and lowercase arcle not important. Save that for base-sixty-two.
With higher numbers it's often easier to figure out how far away from the upper limit they are. Hexadecimal FC, for example. We know that hexadecimal FF is decimal 255 (fifteen times sixteen to the first power plus fifteen times sixteen to the zeroth power), and taking one step back we get hexadecimal FE, which is decimal 254 (fifteen times sixteen to the first power plus fourteen times sixteen to the zeroth power). So we can count backwards from 255 the same number of steps it takes to count backwards from FF to FC. And that is three steps. So hexadecimal FC is equal to decimal 255 minus three. Decimal 252. Two hundred fifty-two.
How does this help us understand hex codes?
Well, we have established that
The four places are actually three values that have a variable range of two hundred fifty-six
The first place value of each variable is the most influential over the overall intensity of that subpixel
The three variables (two place-values apiece) correspond to the three subpixels Red, Green, and Blue (in that order)
The letters are just a continuation of the numbers, just like face cards in a 52-card deck.
So we can say that a code like FF0000 will be bright red. 020000 will be pretty much black, but slightly red to some people with keen eyes. 00FF00 is bright green. 0000FF is a bright blue. 20FF20 is a bright but washed-out green. FFFFFF is a pure white, however your monitor will display it. 000000 is a pure black, however your monitor will display it. 808080 will be as close to a pure, mid-tone grey as you'll be able to get outside of colour context. FFFF00 is a bright magenta. FFFFEF is a bright yellow off-white. The corresponding bright complimentary blue off-white should be F7F7FF if I'm not messing it up.
We can say that a code like D1C45E will be much closer to D3C25C than to F1A43E.
To check for understanding: You may notice cyan, magenta, and yellow are brighter than red, green, and blue. Does this make sense?
As a sanity check, which of the following hex codes is most likely to resemble a sharp cheddar?:
Option one: 907620
Option two: D09600
Option three: 30E277
Option four: 700350
Tumblr media
Which of the following best describes the following hex code?: 3FD290
Cobalt blue
Bruised banana
An underripe orange
Mint ice cream

"The Bite." An Introduction to How to Read the Holy Torah.
Tumblr media
Terumah explains the configuration and purposes of the 54 Parshiot that comprise the Torah. The Torah is an upward sloping spiral staircase with 54 steps or frames called Parshiot, or "Torah Portions."
Its structure was finalized by the Prophet Maimonedes in the 13th Century CE. The entire mathematical formula, created by They, the Angels, is called "The Tabernacle".
The Tabernacle
The Furnishings
8 All those who were skilled among the workers made the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim woven into them by expert hands.
9 All the curtains were the same size—twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide.[b]10 They joined five of the curtains together and did the same with the other five.
=The Angels called together the Jewish people and gave them the Ten Commandmants to "curtain" the animal instincts of survival within man. Angels are woven into mankind by the Jewish people who keep the traditions of the Torah.
11 Then they made loops of blue material along the edge of the end curtain in one set, and the same was done with the end curtain in the other set.
=The Kohatite Priests, who form a hereditary Order.
12 They also made fifty loops on one curtain and fifty loops on the end curtain of the other set, with the loops opposite each other. 13 Then they made fifty gold clasps and used them to fasten the two sets of curtains together so that the tabernacle was a unit.
= 100 Shekels. God supplies one half of a human's soul, man supples the rest. One soul = 100 shekels used to purchase the 50 Clasps, = 866, "Pronounce the name of the State. Zealous, not jealous of other men."
The Field
14 They made curtains of goat hair for the tent over the tabernacle—eleven altogether. 15 All eleven curtains were the same size—thirty cubits long and four cubits wide.[c]16 They joined five of the curtains into one set and the other six into another set.
=Goat hair curtains = puberty and the onset of the Age of Reason. = 12824, "God's cloth for dry land." Goat boy time is when the urge to be violent and shed blood must be curbed. Everyone has to accept violence of any kind is forbidden on the planet earth. This can be taught long before adding, subtraction, reading and writing.
17 Then they made fifty loops along the edge of the end curtain in one set and also along the edge of the end curtain in the other set. 18 They made fifty bronze clasps to fasten the tent together as a unit. 19 Then they made for the tent a covering of ram skins dyed red, and over that a covering of the other durable leather.[d]
Next comes an explanation for the Ram Boy who can read and write and peddle a bike and twiddle his piddle. A man of Bronze must bust the ass of a Ram Boy and make him listen and follow the rules of citizenship in addition to being an example. A Ram will not do this on his own, he will fight for what he thinks is his instead.
Durable leather refers to the ability of the sentient self, owned by the man not the animal to prevail.
The Number is 7659, ז‎והט‎ "This is a tifle hot."
One does not come alive until one is able to imprint upon other life forms and they imprint on onself. When a Ram Boy submits, and commits to the Reddening, to the Order of the Edomite, the process of heating up, or coming alive for a trifle, "for something important" then the real Torah begins.
The suggestion of an affiliation between a shrieking thirteen year old virgin boy and an older one who has filled out in order to inspire fear and awe is not accidental.
20 They made upright frames of acacia wood for the tabernacle. 21 Each frame was ten cubits long and a cubit and a half wide,[e]22 with two projections set parallel to each other. They made all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
Each time God states His Will, which are stated in terms of the intent and the behavior emboded within male and female pairs, ie Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Jacob and Leah, Jonathan and David, the positive outcome is set in motion etc.:
= 10763, "A pair shall mate."
The Directions
23 They made twenty frames for the south side of the tabernacle 24 and made forty silver bases to go under them—two bases for each frame, one under each projection.
=8984, ח‎טחד‎‎, hathad, "slow down the grind."
Ten Commandments understood through the four turns will end the aggression that is grinding down the human race.
25 For the other side, the north side of the tabernacle, they made twenty frames 26 and forty silver bases—two under each frame.
=7126, ז‎אב‎ו‎, "the wolf and zev," "the golden wolf." "Wait and see instead." If you ignore a wolf, it will not go away. The wolf you ignore is the most expensive. These must be the prohibitions.
27 They made six frames for the far end, that is, the west end of the tabernacle, 28 and two frames were made for the corners of the tabernacle at the far end.
West is the opposite, the stipulations. The Number is 7250, ז‎ב‎האֶפֶס‎, "the zero fly." = Debo, "intrinsic understanding, submliminal response."
"The root דבר (dabar) is complicated. It occurs about 2,500 times in the Bible and is most commonly translated with "to speak". Yet it rather means to formalize, i.e. to transcend the realms of subconscious intuition, the mental equivalent of muscle memory and the subliminal governance of experience, and to consciously describe what is going on with very precise words that everybody can understand and take to heart without having to accumulate years of experience and mental muscle memory.
This verb is obviously a very big deal. It sums up the essence of human awareness, nominal reasoning and Information Technology; it allows years, decades, centuries and millennia of human experience to be compressed into data (concrete units of information), and to rise above the mind that produced it and settle into a mind that hasn't."
The Twelve
29 At these two corners the frames were double from the bottom all the way to the top and fitted into a single ring; both were made alike. 30 So there were eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame.
The Number is 12507, "the Twelve."
Twelve Tribes of Israel= 2277, בבז‎‎‎ז‎, in bazaz, "the buzz of the wine", also "the highest dimension of learning."
The Numbers are like RNA. If you combine a male boy tadpole you get DNA and then the combinations that are formed by chimpan A and chimpan Z sort themselves out and create a never seen before, unique person. The Alefbeis work the same way. The combinations of letters and numbers starting with alef and bayit and so forth state there are 12 Tribes of Israel, and the Haggadah says there is a 13th in which we find the final tribe of Israel, the Tribe of Muhammad the Quraysh.
31 They also made crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames on one side of the tabernacle, 32 five for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the west, at the far end of the tabernacle.
The Number is 9136, טאגו‎, tago, "the third cell." Threes in Judaism refer to complete agreement. So there are three "compartments" in the Torah, 18 Frames each that are connected by "action crossovers."
Israel
33 They made the center crossbar so that it extended from end to end at the middle of the frames. 34 They overlaid the frames with gold and made gold rings to hold the crossbars. They also overlaid the crossbars with gold.
Gold is 81, or Ha. "The ability to see that which is related to God."
We call God Ha Shem, "the ability to see all that is of God and know it, to have conscious knowledge of its role in the creation that God intended for it." To perform Ha Shem on the Jewish Self is the greatest achievement to which a man can aspire.
The Number is 8984, ח‎טחד‎, "what's at stake."
=Freedom to be the Self.
Moses
35 They made the curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen, with cherubim woven into it by a skilled worker. 36 They made four posts of acacia wood for it and overlaid them with gold. They made gold hooks for them and cast their four silver bases.
=They made mankind with a soul, an intellect, and instincts, ie made him smart and gave him a conscience, the ability to learn, and forsake violence and vulnerability to fire, flood, violence, and disease. They gave man the ability to enjoy every day ordinary comforts.
The Number is 14245, ידבד‎ה, yadveda, "work, labor, knowledge, and unity are worship."
37 For the entrance to the tent they made a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen—the work of an embroiderer;
Moses was a twister. He had to make the people leave Egypt they weren't going to do it on their own. Who they are inside as individuals, only they knew. One cannot embroider until one knows one's intials. So Moses is the watering of the intellect, its manipulation into the belief it should be a free individual, but the embroiderer is oneself, no one else. The Entrance = not the ears, but who you listen to.
The Number is 7038, זאֶפֶסגח‎‎‎, zephysgia "The crevasse in which the honey flows."
Shabbat
38 and they made five posts with hooks for them. They overlaid the tops of the posts and their bands with gold and made their five bases of bronze.
= the five senses are all appealed to in the Torah- we are told how to taste, smell, touch, see, and hear the unobstructed essence of Ha Shem, but for this finally one needs the other, the base of bronze. At the end of the Day, it is not God that matters but the one that pours the honey.
The Number is 8976, חט‎זו‎, "Take a bite."
-> Each of these elements in the Temple and their materials symbolize the making of the Man of God.
The Ten Purple Curtains woven with Cherubim- they protect the senses from idolatry. Each sense has two eyes and two ears and two nostrils, two mouths with two tongues in it. The Purple Curtains are reserved for Jewish Royalty who protect the Capsule from heresy.
There are 10 of these, the same number as the Sefirot that adorn the Kabbalah.
The “blue material and “gold clasps” the 50 clasps prevent the person from losing his mind and decoupling from the people.
Blue and Gold, are the sky and the sun, and these represent the activities of God as He said let there be light and made a vault, remember God wanted to Vault things together and yet be able to discern them as individuals.
Leather and Goat Hair Curtains: over the internal lattice work of the mind and its intuition comes skin and hair, and these are also supposed to be Vaulted together with a sentient self-concept.
There are eleven of these because the 11th character in the Hebrew alphabet symbolizes life- there are ten faculties and One Supreme Intelligence = all living things, but man especially covered in skin and hair and the Crown.
*And God said let there be manscaping, don’t forget. Make your otter hotter with a good shave!
Bronze Loops signify the Law which binds living things together, similar to how the Gold of the Sun binds life to the sky.
Twenty Frames/Forty Silver Bases etc.
Pure silver is the most powerful conductor of heat, electricity and most importantly to our discussions of Torah, has the most reflectivity. There are suggestions that the 40 silver bases are the same as 40 days or forty years, “time, not place” frames the House of God,
But really, truly, the number adds up to the # of Parshiot, which is 54:
20 frames N
20 frames S
then 6 west
And two frames were made for the corners of the tabernacle at the far end. 29 At these two corners the frames were double
46+ 8 = 54.
Crossbars of Gold: I am pretty sure these are Rabbis, the learned ones.
The Final Curtain: the work of the Embroiderer is either a Magus, or a King who unites the rest within the Temple aka the Kingdom.
37 For the entrance to the tent they made a curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen—the work of an embroiderer; 38 and they made five posts with hooks for them. They overlaid the tops of the posts and their bands with gold and made their five bases of bronze. “
Here is a simple overview of the reference table with decryption for the 54 Steps which the Torah promises ends with a view of the future, but not the future itself. Freedmen alone are allowed to enter the future and we are not they, not yet:
15 “Make upright frames of acacia wood for the tabernacle. 16 Each frame is to be ten cubits long and a cubit and a half wide,[k] 17 with two projections set parallel to each other. Make all the frames of the tabernacle in this way.
18 Make twenty frames for the south side of the tabernacle 19 and make forty silver bases to go under them—two bases for each frame, one under each projection.
20 For the other side, the north side of the tabernacle, make twenty frames 21 and forty silver bases—two under each frame.
22 Make six frames for the far end, that is, the west end of the tabernacle, 23 and make two frames for the corners at the far end. 24 At these two corners they must be double from the bottom all the way to the top and fitted into a single ring; both shall be like that. 25 So there will be eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame.
26 “Also make crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames on one side of the tabernacle,
27 five for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the west, at the far end of the tabernacle.
28 The center crossbar is to extend from end to end at the middle of the frames. 29 Overlay the frames with gold and make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Also overlay the crossbars with gold.
=the 54 Bars and Frames are the 54 Parshiot. Gold Bars and Gold Rings are all connected by the temple architecture by Torah Traditions.
If we look at each tract and calculate the Gematria, how to proceed should be straightforward:
ex. Make upright frames of acacia wood for the tabernacle. The Number is 2306, באג‎אֶפֶסו‎ ‎"Start where you left off."
Each frame is to be ten cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. The Number is 2420, בדבאֶפֶס‎‎ ‎, in dafapes, "Understanding is the dove of truth," "there are no pages that are false or misrepresenting..."
Apes=
The verb ψευδω (pseudo) means to lie. The English "pseudo" mostly signifies surrogacy or a playful pretending, but is much milder than the original Greek idea of willful and malignant misrepresentation and deception with intent and purpose.
In the Bible only the earlier and more common form ψευδομαι (pseudomai) is used, but since the essence of the concept of truth is very hard to define (as famously demonstrated by Pontius Pilate: JOHN 18:38), the essence of lying is equally obscure. Still, even little children seem to naturally understand the difference between lying and telling the truth.
With two projections set parallel to each other. Make all the frames of the tabernacle in this way. The Number is 6361. "and so on until goa, the people form a calm nation."
Clearly every word in the Torah contains a hidden message from the Angels in the Host of Heaven. And they say the inent and purpose and source for the calm comes from the Gematria for the verse above. The Value in Gematria is 6154, ואהד‎, "and ahad" "and sympathize."
= Speak out against oppression happening against people that are not Jewish.
18 Make twenty frames for the south side of the tabernacle. South is the direction of understanding. The Number is 5342, הגדב‎, "the Robber."
Recall God said we start the Torah with Agreement that in exhange for utter loyalty, He will rob us of ignorance. His connection to the God Shiva, who is called Hara, the Thief of Suffering cannot be ignored.
19 and make forty silver bases to go under them—two bases for each frame, one under each projection.
Silver symbolizes the comon sense and the greater good. Projections hold the steps of the ladder to the other struts in the spiral helix. Buildings that bear weight and bend are under incredible stress. The study of the Torah is supposed to induce and also relieve the right kind and amount of stress.
The Number is 5449, הדדט‎ , haddad, "until the Four Directions reverberate" = God's echo is attained, = the Seven Days are the Projections that form the framework for studying the Torah, and between them are double dalets, or fourths that turn upward towards the right. One can also look up and across:
20 For the other side, the north side of the tabernacle, make twenty frames 21 and forty silver bases—two under each frame.
North is what is hidden by God. If one approaches the North from the right, one attains Ha Shem though the process of Torah. If one approaches from the left and dives right in, one gets into trouble.
The Number is 6619, ו‎ואט‎, "and watt", "start underneath."
The actual beginning of the Torah and being Jewish starts after the Israelites leave Egypt and become Hebrews, "sojourners" who go in search of themselves. This is generally thought of as the period in life that starts on the other side of the Zin.
"The important verb עבר ('abar) means to pass or cross over (a river, border, obstacle or terrain). The derived noun עבר ('eber) describes what or where you end up when you do the verb: the other side or region beyond."
= if you don't know yourself, you cannot be Jewish. And this means one has to know someone else first.
22 Make six frames for the far end, that is, the west end of the tabernacle, 23 and make two frames for the corners at the far end. 24 At these two corners they must be double from the bottom all the way to the top and fitted into a single ring; both shall be like that.
At the West End is the Age of Enlightenment. By the time one reaches the West, one is expected to have conquered all delusions, attitudes, and misunderstandings and replaced them with the Messianic tendencies named throughout the Torah and the Tanakh.
The Number is 9026, צבע, Tsva, "the painter of color."
Art is a message that is written in full color using pictures instead of words. In order to understand the Torah, one has to understand how to paint, which in Judaism is called Kabbalah. The text is not written in English it is not written using literal terminology, it never has been. The letters, words, and phrases of the Torah and entire Tanakh are a mix of letters, numbers and heiroglyphs that cannot be properly understood unless they are properly translated and remixed.
25 So there will be eight frames and sixteen silver bases—two under each frame. The Number is 4839, "You pushed."
The study of the Torah satisfies an interest in religion and lets the Angels in, but they cannot complete the work. This requires self-determination to study the Torah using Chabad and the Four Levels, i.e. using Kabbalah.
In addition, plan to also:
26 “Also make crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames on one side of the tabernacle, 27 five for those on the other side, and five for the frames on the west, at the far end of the tabernacle.
Acacia wood grows like a weed and provides bees with pollen for honey and fragrant wood for smoking salmon hootchie, making houses and furniture. Joseph made sure Egypt stocked upon acacia wood in anticipation of a drought and global economic crisis.
The Number 8634, חוג‎ד‎, khogad, "let's go and make the division" Taa, "separate from what is wrong." ie, "make use of the Numbers."
28 The center crossbar is to extend from end to end at the middle of the frames. 29 Overlay the frames with gold and make gold rings to hold the crossbars. Also overlay the crossbars with gold.
The Central Crossbar is Ha Shem, the Cherub of Sinai who led the people from Egypt and made of them a fine nation, as numerous as the grains of sand on the shore by the sea or the stars in the sky. The gold frames and rings and crossbars are the Parshiot, the Decrees and the gods of Israel, the sons and daughters of Abraham.
These are overlaid with gold because gold never loses its value no matter the age, the time, or how it is used. An ethical and spiritual way of life, shared by everyone was the longing of the sages that collaborated with the God and gods of Israel to produce the Torah. A lasting gift of the Jewish people to the rest of the human race.
The Number is 9548, ט‎הדח‎, "reject the past together."
While this karika does not identify the precise Torah Portions or interstices or their order mentioned in each block by name, it does provide objectives for each section and how the story of the Israelites in the Desert should really end.

Horror and the Holy: Wisdom-Teachings of the Monster Tale. By Kirk J. Schneider. Open Court, 1993.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Genre: cultural criticism, literary criticism, philosophy
Series: N/A
Summary: Dr. Schneider draws upon a detailed and telling analysis of eleven well-known horror Dracula , Frankenstein , The Phantom of the Opera , The Fall of the House of Usher , The Invisible Man , The Incredible Shrinking Man , Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde , The Birds , Forbidden Planet, Vertigo, and Alien. He finds that a spiritual understanding of life can be attained through horror. Classic horror steers a middle path between fanaticism and the path of wonderment. Horror teaches us that the human personality is paradoxical, that revulsion and disgust are the obverse of excitement and freedom, and that both poles are vital to individual, social, and ecological well-being.
***Full review below.***
My rating might be a tad bit unfair because, in my opinion, this book is a little dated. Written in the 1990s, a lot of work has since been done on horror as a genre as well as the specific texts/films Schneider analyzes. So I primarily think this is a good read if you're doing research and need a comprehensive view of past scholarship. It's also a fairly good tool if you're new to literary studies and would like a solid example of close reading.
I don't remember how I came upon this book, but since I have written about horror in the past, I figured I should check it out.
As a literary scholar, however, I do find Schneider's book of mixed usefulness. Schneider makes a number of assumptions in order to build his argument, including what constitutes the "holy." In making these assumptions, the book then becomes something of a thought experiment, which overall is fairly convincing; but if I were to do any serious work on horror, I would perhaps bring in additional reseatch to support those assumptions.
I also think Schneider attempts to make too absolute a case for each of his points. He poses works like Dracula and Frankenstein as archetypal, then later ascribes near-universal value to them based on popularity. While I can absolutely understand picking and choosing works as case studies, I was a tad uncomfortable by the importance that Schneider ascribes to these works. I also think Schneider misses some key points in his analysis; for example, he argues that part of the horror of Dracula has to do with hyperconstriction, which is fair, but I also wondered if part of the horror is from something more. For example, how might immortality (which seems like hyperexpansion, in a way) be part of the horror? How might Dracula's shape-shifting and control of the weather be hyperextension, as well as the fact that he travels and is not bound by the soil of his homeland? Perhaps these gaps are beneficial in that they allow space for other scholars to make more nuanced analyses. But as this book is so short, there was absolutely more room for an extended exploration of Schneider's concepts.
Still, there is some value to the idea that "infinity" may give way to horror, whether that is infinite expansion or infinite constriction. I find this concept particularly intriguing with regards to something like Phantom of the Opera, in which the horror of the underground lair is partially communicated by the thousands of columns and ever-multiplying mirrors. I don't think I'm entirely convinced that infinity is the main focus of the "holy," so in that regard, I think the spiritual/religious connotations of the word really prevent me from fully understanding (or buying) Schneider's argument. But I do think the horror of infinity is worth exploring.
TL;DR: Horror and the Holy is of mixed usefulness, but ultimately presents some ideas that are worth engaging with.

Education System in the UK!
Tumblr media
The United Kingdom (UK) is renowned for its prestigious universities, engaging teaching methods, high student satisfaction rates, and high educational standards.
UK institutions consistently score highly in international university league tables such as the Academic Ranking of World institutions, Times Higher Education Ranking, and QS World Rankings. Moreover, degrees earned in the nation are highly valued by corporations and regarded globally.
What structure does the UK educational system have?
Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England are the four nations that have authority over the UK's educational system. In the UK, there are several educational systems, prerequisites for education, and regional laws and guidelines in each of these domains. The main differences between secondary and general education in the UK are the causes of the distinctive credit systems and certifications found in each area.
Important Phases
In the United Kingdom, there are five educational tiers: elementary, secondary, further education (FE), and higher education (HE). Every child must attend school from the age of five (or four in Northern Ireland) to sixteen.
FE consists of non-advanced courses that can be studied in colleges and HEIs for additional education, including higher education, and is not mandatory. Studying above the GCE A levels and their equivalents constitutes the fifth stage, or the higher education (HE) system in the UK, which is typically finished by full-time students in universities, other HEIs, and colleges.
All English three- and four-year-olds are entitled to 38 weeks of free nursery education starting in September 2010. In the UK, there are many different areas where early childhood education is offered. These include state-run nurseries, nursery classes, and reception classes in primary schools, in addition to locations outside of the state sector including childminders, nonprofit pre-schools, and for-profit nurseries.
In the UK, the number of early childhood educators and childcare providers has grown dramatically in recent years. The Education Act of 2002 added the Foundation Stage, which was first introduced in September 2000 and covered children's education from the age of three until the end of the reception year, when they are five years old, to the National Curriculum for England.
For the purpose of providing learning, development, and care for children in all registered early years settings from the time of birth until the academic year in which they turn five, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a single regulatory and quality framework. The three phases of the EYFS came into force in September 2008. Each child's development and learning achievements are formally assessed using the EYFS Profile at the end of the academic year in the UK in which they turn five (EYFSP).
Among the UK education system's key phases are:
Primary education in the UK
Senior high school, grades 7 and 8
Years 10 and 11 of secondary education serve as preparation.
Year 12 and 13 as a preparation for university
Vocational courses as a means of continuing education
University: preparatory classes
Undergraduate studies at university
University: advanced coursework
Primary Education in the UK
The primary stage is divided into three age groups: infant (5 to 7 or 8), junior (up to 11 or 12), and nursery (for children under 5). (Key Stage 2). But in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the difference between infant and junior schools is usually not made.
The Foundation period combines the Early Years (ages 3 to 5) and Key Stage 1 (ages 5 to 7) of the National Curriculum into a single educational period for kids between the ages of three and seven, even if the types of schools in Wales are the same. Children in primary schools in England are usually enrolled from the age of four to eleven. Some elementary schools may have a connection to a daycare center or nursery for the benefit of the younger students.
Most public primary schools have mixed-gender classes with boys and girls enrolled. It is normal for pupils in Scotland and England to go straight from elementary to secondary school at the ages of twelve and eleven, respectively.
In England, nevertheless, a small percentage of kids decide to move through intermediate schools that cater to children between the ages of 8 and 14. Middle schools can be classified as primary or secondary, based on the number of students enrolled. All pupils should graduate from elementary school with a foundational understanding of reading and numeracy, as well as the skills necessary to pursue further studies in science, math, and other subjects.
Upper Secondary: Years 7 and 8
Years 7 and 8 are the first two years of secondary study in the United Kingdom. In some independent schools, they are in the senior school; in others, they are in the younger school. All students in the United Kingdom must take English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and a Modern Language. A list of elective courses, such as those in art, music, theater, Latin, sports science, design technology, and computer science, is also provided by each school for students to choose from.
Seventh-graders in certain schools sit for the Common Entrance Exam. There are three exam dates available: January, May/June, and November. For such schools, the Common Entrance Exam results could have an impact on the junior-to-senior (year 8–9) transfer. Year 9 of secondary school
Year 9 is a critical year in the British school system since it marks the majority of students' transition from junior to senior high school. It also acts as a springboard for all other institutions and a strong foundation for the GCSE programme.
Languages, arithmetic, physics, and the humanities are studied by the students. In addition, students choose a few subjects from the offerings of each institution's elective list.
Tenth and eleventh years of secondary school
At the age of 14, students start preparing for the GCSE exams throughout their final two years of secondary school, or Years 10 and 11. (Higher Education General Certificate)
For the GCSE programme, students in the UK educational system take nine to twelve courses.
While some of them—like math, science, English, geography, history, and other subjects—are necessary, others are chosen by the individual student in accordance with their interests and skill set.
At the end of the two-year GCSE program, students receive their GCSE certificates after passing exams in every subject they have studied.
Getting Ready for University: Recess 12 and 13
A Level Research
In the UK, students can enroll in a two-year program that prepares them for the A (advanced) level exams after they turn sixteen. Most college students decide to concentrate on three or four subject areas that are essential to their future employment.
A-level results are recognized as evidence of preparedness for postsecondary education in the United Kingdom by all overseas schools and universities.
When students successfully complete all needed assessments at the end of their 13th year of school, they are granted A-level certificates.
The IB, or International Baccalaureate
Under the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, students who wish to study more than three or four subjects can do so at some private schools. Students enrolled in the IB program study six courses: three at the higher level (HL), which is more advanced, and three at the standard level (SL), which is more basic.
Every school offers HL and SL courses in a range of subject areas. The IB's Core Curriculum (CAS) requires the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and the Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) courses. Students take a written exam covering the information presented in each unit at the end of the course.
Popular UK Programs
The following are a few well-liked UK programs for overseas students:
Physiotherapy
Law
Actuarial Science
Athletic Administration
Surgery and Medicine
Computer Science
Technical
Commercial Administration
Finance
Civil Engineering
Top Study Locations
More than any other nation save the United States, the United Kingdom boasts ten of the world's top 100 student cities.
Additionally, two new cities—Brighton and Aberdeen—have joined the ranking this year, and London, the country's capital, has risen to the top of the list for the first time. Six of the characteristics utilized to establish each city's ranking on our list of the greatest student cities were derived from data collected from our student survey. These are a few of the top UK locations for both living and studying:
London
Edinburgh
Manchester
Glasgow Coventry
Aberdeen
Newcastle
Birmingham
Nottingham
The UK's Higher Education System
Specifically, the United Kingdom's higher education levels and quality are acknowledged and valued globally. The reputation of its educational system is greatly influenced by the success of its graduates in the workforce. Numerous internationally renowned academics and artists from a wide range of disciplines have come from British universities. Numerous of these universities and colleges rank among the top in the world.
It's no accident that London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is frequently considered to be the center of higher education worldwide. London boasts the biggest concentration of globally renowned UK universities, with four of them ranking in the top 10. The level of the British educational system that follows secondary school is referred to as "higher education."
In order to be admitted to universities in the United Kingdom, students must pass a standardized test at the conclusion of their secondary education. Colleges and universities are handled differently in the UK higher education system than they are in the US.
While the majority of Americans call any higher education institution simply a "college," in the UK the term is used differently. In this sense, a college is a further education establishment that only serves to prepare students for higher education, whereas a university is an accredited institution of higher learning from which graduates will receive degrees.
In summary
The UK's educational system is renowned across the globe for its quality. Within the British educational system, there are normally five main levels: pre-school, primary school, secondary school, vocational training, and university (HE).
In the United Kingdom, compulsory schooling is mandated for those under the age of sixteen. This requirement starts at age three.
The educational systems in England, Scotland, and Wales in the UK are distinct from one another, despite their many similarities. These differences are not significant enough to keep us from speaking of the UK's higher education system as a single system.
