Chapter 8 - All is Revealed
Kara POV
After Lennox shut the bedroom door, I looked at Eliza who had tears in her eyes, with tears in my own.
"Is everything okay? What did she say?" Lena asks with her hand on my thigh, concerned.
"Lennox called Eliza, grandma." I say.
Lena smiled and covered her mouth with her hand while tears sprung from her eyes.
"I love that girl, Lena. I'm so glad she's here with us, finally." Eliza says wiping her cheeks.
"She is my whole world. It breaks my heart every time I look into her eyes because I still see so much brokenness in them. She still hasn't opened up too much about her time with her foster dad, Joe. I know I need to be here for when she does, but it's almost like she's waiting for the other shoe to drop. With the help of Kara now, we've managed to give her a picture of what healthy stability looks like. I would do anything for her." Lena admits.
"So would I, my love. So would I." I reply kissing her hand.
"You two are the best people in her life. She couldn't possibly have anyone better. You both have impressed me with how quickly you have taken the parent roles in her life. And even excelling beyond what most new parents struggle with." Eliza smiles.
"Well, I did learn from the best." I say.
"Yes, Eliza you have taught me so much. But with my own experience, I'm just being what I wish Lillian was to me at Lennox's age." Lena says sadly.
"My love, you are doing just that and more. Lennox loves you so much. You are giving her all the time and space she needs as well as excess amounts of love. You're slowly opening her shell and she's beginning to believe that she's worthy of love and care. That is what any parent should do." I say kissing her forehead and hugging her.
After all the wine is gone, we all head to bed. Lena and I check in on Lennox to see her sleeping peacefully, of course with her book in her hands again. I love this girl. Lena and I get ready for bed and slip under the covers in Eliza's guest room.
"I love spending everyday with you, Kara. I never thought my life could be this whole and full of love and joy. You and Lennox bring that to me. Thank you for sharing this experience with me. I wouldn't want it to be anyone else." She says kissing my lips, which I melt into.
"I love experiencing it with you, Lena. I have saved many lives, but being in your's and Lennox's is truly the most rewarding." I say back hugging her.
I fall asleep to Lena's steady and strong heartbeat. I never want to leave her arms.
I was pulled out of my deep sleep at 2:30am. I sit up disoriented wondering why I'm awake until I hear a muffled scream. It's coming from my old room. I bolt out of bed using my super speed and see that Lennox is no longer in her bed. The window is open, letting in the moonlight and the curtains blowing in the wind. Lennox is nowhere to be seen. I hear Lena enter the room, still trying to wake up. When she realizes Lennox is out of bed and the window open she falls to her knees. Before I can say anything, I fly out the window on my search for our little girl.
I scan every possible place within a 100 mile radius and nothing. I can't hear her heart, her voice which might be screaming for my help, or any indication of where she might have been taken.
I fly back to the house and see Lena on the phone, who is talking with Alex. I can hear Alex trying to stay calm, but the slight quiver in her voice gives her away. Lena is pacing with tears in her eyes. When she sees me, she hangs up and jumps in my arms crying.
"She's gone, Kara." Lena cries.
"I couldn't find her anywhere. There were no signs or clues to where she might be. I flew into every building within 100 miles." I say crying back. "We will find her though, Lena. I will make sure of it." I add making sure I stay strong for Lena but also for Lennox who is probably so scared. I can't imagine what's running through her mind.
"Alex said she and J'onn are on their way with some DEO agents. They're 30 minutes out." Lena says, pausing her crying. "It's Lillian, Kara. I know it. This has her written all over it." Lena says with her intense green eyes.
"I was thinking that too. God, how did I not see this coming? Of course she would take advantage of us being out of the city." I say pacing angrily.
"Hey, Kara it's not your fault. I didn't know that my own mother would ever think to kidnap our kid." I snap my head up at her, surprised she thinks of me as Lennox's mother in a way. "I'm sorry, Kara I didn't mean to put a label on it." She replies quickly.
"Not at all, Lena. I see Lennox as my daughter. I'm glad you see me as that too because you are that girl's mother. It doesn't matter that you didn't give birth to her. All that matters now, is that we find her so we can have her back in our arms." I say crying into Lena's shoulder.
"I agree. She is probably so scared. I can't even imagine how frightened and lost she must feel right now." She says hugging back.
As the DEO agents get here and set up for the investigation, I change into my suit.
"You will find her, Supergirl. I know you will." Eliza says while hugging me.
"I've never been so scared in my life before, Eliza. What if Lillian is doing terrible things to her? What if I'll never figure out where they are?" I say with my heart pounding in my ears.
"You will find Lennox, because you are Kara Zor-El. You stand for everything this symbol on your chest represents. And because Lennox is counting on it. She needs you, Kara. Lena needs you. You will find her because it's what has to be done. I believe in you, and so does your girlfriend, sister and that little girl out there." She says holding my face in her hands.
I just nod due to the lack of words that come out.
"Kara! We've got something." Alex yells.
"What is it?"
"We got a partial plate from the van that Lennox was put in. The weird thing is that it just disappeared on all CCTV footage."
"Typical. Lillian could have jammed the feed. Usually she would be more careful about letting any of the plate being seen." Lena pipes up.
"Lena wait. Didn't Joe shove Lennox out of a van outside L-Corp?" I say. Lena's eyes go wide and she types something on her iPad.
"Yes, of course! How did I not remember that? Do you think Joe and Lillian are working together? What does Joe have to gain by helping her though? He got a hold of Lennox after she escaped CADMUS and then just dumped her on the side of the road claiming he didn't need her anymore. He was probably getting tired of having to actually care for a child but dealt with it because of the paycheck....Lillian is probably paying him." Lena pieces together in the matter of a minute. I will never understand how her mind works so quickly.
"So you think Lillian managed to find Joe, offer him a good chunk of money, and have him kidnap Lennox?" Alex asks confirming for her report to give to the agents.
"Yes. I'm sure of it. Lillian must need her for something. Or she's doing it to spite me. There were no traces of any kind of power in Lennox's blood work Alex did the other day. She must have come up with something else to test on Lennox. Apparently she was the strongest test subject Lillian had. I don't understand how because she isn't an alien. She's from Lillian and Lionel." Lena says with anger in her voice.
"Okay so where would he have taken her?" I ask.
"It would have to be somewhere secluded. A warehouse most likely. Maybe one of Lex's. I know he has some that aren't on the DEO's radar." Lena responds.
J'onn comes flying into the house. "I followed all the possible routes the van could have taken. I found it ditched on the side of the road a couple miles out. They are in different transportation."
"Shit." Alex and Lena say.
"Working off of Lena's warehouse theory, we have a couple options I can look into. Let me talk to Brainy and see what we can find." Alex says walking out to the tents set up outside.
"God, I'm so stupid. I should've seen this coming and should've been more prepared. Lennox is out there being retraumatized while I'm just sitting here in defeat of Lillian and Joe." Lena huffs as she sits down.
"Lena, do not blame yourself. Not only is it untrue, but it won't get us anywhere closer to finding her. They haven't won yet. If we know anything about Lennox, she is resilient and strong. She will fight her way through this. We have given her hope. She has us to come back to. You know how she's been with us these last few days. She's been happy, taken care of, and loved. I have faith in our girl. She will make it back to us, Lena." I say taking her into my arms.
"I love you, Kara. I miss her. I wish I didn't have such a fucked up family." She sobs.
"Me too, Lee. But you're not them. You will never be them. Lennox will never be them. You are the two good Luthors." I kiss her head.
Lennox POV
I open my eyes and can't see anything. My whole body is on fire. I'm tied to a chair with my upper arms bound and my feet tied. I can't move. All I remember is being pulled out of my bed at Eliza's and screaming so Kara could hopefully hear me. Then I woke here. I feel a warm liquid on the side of my head. Must be blood due to the pounding I'm feeling in my head.
The more I wake up, the more I start to remember. I remember hearing a voice I never thought I would hear ever again. Joe's. He's the one that took me. Then why is Lillian the one standing in front of me right now?
"Ah, good. You're awake." She says, almost humorously.
"What am I doing here? Where are we?" I ask, with rasp in my voice.
"No need to worry about that, dear. We've come here to finish what we started." My eyes go wide. She's planning to experiment on me.
"Lillian, please. No." I say, chest heaving due to my panic.
"This is a new serum I need to try. The last one wasn't compatible with Lena's DNA." She says to one of the scientists in the room.
What does she mean Lena's DNA? The last one didn't work because my DNA wasn't changing to what she injected me with.
Wait.
Am I made from Lena's DNA? Is Lena my mother? If I am, it's clear Lena doesn't know that. How despicable, Lillian. How could she do that to her? Lena is burdened with a child she didn't even consent to. I would rather be Lena's than Lillian's but that doesn't change the fact that Lena doesn't deserve this.
If Lena is my mother, who is her counterpart?
My thoughts are interrupted by the scientist coming towards me, pushing a table with needles and the new serum. Please, no. I won't make it through this one. The last one felt like I was injected with lava that coursed through my veins. It was pure agony.
He ties my upper arm with a piece of rubber in order to find a vein. I prepare myself and brace for the pain. As he injects it, I scream due to the pain. It's the same as when I was 6. Actually, it's worse. I can feel it in my heart as it pumps it through my body. He finishes injecting it and I am in tears as Lillian watches. Almost with pleasure. If CADMUS was truly for testing aliens, why did she test me? I'm not an alien. Unless Lena's DNA counterpart is.
If that's true, why don't I have alien abilities?
"What do you feel, Lennox?" Lillian asks cutting off my thoughts.
"Like my whole body is on fire. Why are you doing this to me, Lillian? I'm not an alien, I don't have powers." I spit at her.
"That's what I'm trying to bring out of you, Lennox. Your powers are dormant. Lex nor I can figure out what serum is correct in order to bring them to surface." She says.
So I am an alien. Who is my other parent?
"I know you're not my real mother. Lena is. I can't believe you would use her DNA to create a whole person without her consent. How terrible can a person be?" I say.
She smacks my face making me grunt in pain.
"Well at least I know you have some Luthor in you. I see you have your mother's mouth.  Now that both your mother's are together, I'm sure you were living out your biggest dream." She admits.
Kara. Kara is my other mother? Do I have Kryptonian powers? Why would Lillian choose those 2 for her experimentation?
"I chose Kara Danvers as Lena's counterpart because I knew you would be unstoppable, Lennox. Lex and Lena have their brains, but I needed someone who would be undefeated unlike Lex, and someone who was actually loyal to me unlike Lena. I needed you to be the one to stop all alien life from corrupting our human world." Lillian seethes inches from my face. "Now that I have you back, nothing will get in my way."
This woman is so hypocritical. Using an alien she created to destroy aliens.
"I think you know that's not true. Lena and Kara are looking for me as we speak. They will find me and put a stop to you once and for all."
Another smack.
"I'm starting to understand why Joseph got rid of you.  If it wasn't for your dormant powers, I'd throw you out just like he did. You are worth nothing, child. Know your place and you just might survive." She says walking out the room.
God, I hope I was right about my mothers looking for me.
I hear the door open and in walks Joe. Without having to think, my body goes into autopilot in response to seeing this terrible man.
"Lillian never instructed what I could and couldn't do. We're gonna have some fun, my little Lennox." He says smiling. I would rather be suffering under Lillian right now.
"Please, no." I say weakly.
He starts to untie me and cut open my shirt. I can feel his eyes scanning me up and down. I feel disgusting.
I see everything go black and pass out to pain and panic flooding my body.

Synthetic Blood
After taking over her father's company, Lena Luthor spends her time trying to develop a safe man made synthetic blood for medical science and maybe for herself and her kind too of course. You see, Lena is technically human but she is also technically a vampire, well more of a half vampire that's more or less human except for her extra abilities and vitality. As she tries to develop a Blood substitute her brother Lex attempts to steer her away from the light and back down a dark path that has always beckoned her to walk down.
[Look, vampires are kinda cool and I've been meaning to finish this idea that I literally dreamed about last year so let me know if you guys like it, hate it, or have ideas for it yeah? I'll post it on Ao3 later.] Words: 3,036K 🙃
Lillian took the cold metal brush handle in her hand, making it up to her hair, and started to brush through the already smooth tresses of hair on Lena's head.
"On to more pressing matters, it seems we won't be hunting for a while, seeing that the humans are now more aware of our kind since your brother started his little war with the Kryptonians." The aimless brushing continued a bit rougher than before but not painful.
"How are we to feed then mother, how are you going to feed? I am obviously already prepared but I know you prefer straight from the source." There was a slight hesitation in the last stroke of the cold brush.
Lillian set it down slowly almost methodically as she turned away and towards the moonlit window behind them.
Lena looked after the older woman cautiously.
"Mother?"  Wearily she stood from the vanity mirror and closer to Lillian’s side.
She received a click of a tongue as an answer before she sighed.
"I hated how it reeked on his body, your father I mean, I hated how the smell of artificial blood was always stuck to him, it reminded me of that awful white meat substitute that some humans love in place of real meat."
"Tofu mother," Lena added helpfully as Lillian sneered further at the window and crossed her arms over her chest in defiance.
"Yes, that was it. He always smelled of his fake blood, you already adopted his tendencies to not want to drink from the source of what we need to survive, which is fine but I’ll never understand it." She turned her head to Lena almost puzzled.
“Well mother I know that this situation will be harder but I’ll try and figure something out for us. I'm sure I can maybe synthesize something more to your preferences if need be."
Lillian wasn't the warmest parent compared to most others but after Lex went on with his blood-war with the aliens, she saw that Lena was more stable than she originally thought, especially compared to her son. So through great effort and shattered pride, she tried her best to bridge the gap between her and her daughter as best as she could, trying to make up for years of neglect and misplaced scorn.
With a defeated sigh Lillian finally turned to look at her youngest,
"Thank you, dear, I know you'll try no matter how many times I say I'll be fine. I just want you to  use that brilliant brain of yours for more than just little old me, I'm content with the choices and endless amount of repenting I have waiting for me when it's time." Lillian never smiled at Lena, at least not often, especially as a child, but the one she gave her at that moment was the best one she'd ever seen.
“I think we all do mother. Thank you for taking care of me and letting me wait out the sun for today, I lost track of time again.” Lena lightly skims her thumb over the still healing blemish on her arm, if she were a full vampire like the rest of the Luthors in her family she would have lost it or simply turned to dust as her father did.
“Any time dear, this is still your home too, no matter what your brother claims.”
Lena almost cries, such simple words that her past self would have never dreamed of hearing from the woman before her, Lena simply nods in acknowledgment and heads back out to her car to get back to her apartment.
The drive back to National City is quiet, the long highway back lets her mind playback the hellish day she had, to say she’s dreading the minute she has to see the cities resident Super would be an understatement.
She saw me, I know she saw what I’m capable of. Or at least that I'm definitely NOT human.
Lena’s thoughts turn darker as she imagines the red-caped hero’s look of repulsion and utter hate when she does truly figure out that she’s a creature of the dark, or, at least half of one.
Her mind spirals further down the dark hole of fear of what she will do with her, so much so that she missed the new set of headlights quickly coming closer in her side-view mirror.
When it finally caught enough to slam into her back bumper she quickly snaps out of it and tries to keep her own car on the road and away from the sheer drop of the mountainside to her right.
“Fuck! Now, what!?” The vehicle sways again as the car behind her clashes into hers, she took one of her more pedestrian cars today so her usual horsepower she’d use to escape is severely lacking this time as another hit on her life is in motion again this week.
So much for going incognito.
The shattering of her rear window makes her jump, the side of her car slamming right into the metal railing, seeing the lack of ground on the other side has her heart drop right into her stomach as she tries to get control again.
Big nope to that.
Another pop was registered in Lena’s brain as she finally lost control of her car, her vision spinning just as quickly as the car itself.
“Fuckfuckfuck! I swear, I'm going to stake you myself when I deal with your pets, Lex!” Sweating out of panic, Lena decides that trying to outspeed them won’t happen while in her brick ford car, she figures that she just might have to use some of her power for this one.
Her car makes a sudden stop as the front end crashes through the metal railing at the edge of the road, she was lucky the car became wedged into the twisted metal otherwise she would have had a very unfortunate freefall over the cliff.
Dizzyingly, Lena pries her hands from the steering wheel, her death grip making her bones ache as she tried for her seatbelt next. The sound of car doors slamming shut jumpstarts her heartrate, flooding her system with adrenaline.
The shadows in the headlights get closer, the sound of a gun reloading, four sets of boots crunching on gravel as they round her car on both sides.
She is actually scared now, her right shoulder twinges painfully as she tries to rip out the buckle of her seatbelt, “Ah, shit.” They actually hit her it seems, her white blouse is starting to bleed red down her arm the more she struggles on the belt.
A balding man crouches down into her window, his eyes are glazed over, his face is twisted into a sickening grin. “Hello halfy,” He sneers. “Your big brother wanted us to check in on you this fine night, he was deathly worried for your health as of late.”
His gaze snaps to her bloody shoulder fixated on it for a second or so as he takes a deep breath of warm fresh blood, his dull eyes start to pool red as he takes another lung full of bloody air.
Lena shudders in disgust tilting her face away from his, he reeks of death and rot, ghouls were her least favorite creature that her brother had in his employ.
“Enjoying ourselves are we?” She mutters as his eyes roll open again.
He hums in delight. “He did say your blood was more or less mortal, it's almost humanly sweet.” his smile widens, some kind of old meat seemingly stuck in his teeth and gums as he appraises the state of her and her battered car. “Shame you didn't drive your nicer car, we could have stripped it for parts, but ah, oh well. We’re only here for you tonight then sadly.”
A creaking noise shook the car as he ripped her driver’s door clean off its hinges, Lenas heightened smell was shocked by a wall of death the bald man oozed when he leaned in to free her of her seatbelt and dragged her out of the car by the scruff of her blouse.
Still dazed and newly freed from the metal deathtrap, Lena saw this as her last chance to try and escape from her brother’s lackeys. “I may smell human but by no means does that mean that I’m weak like one.” Latching onto the ghoul’s arm with shaking hands, Lena uses his own weight to counterbalance them both into the loose dirt and flipped herself over again to grab for his throat. She hates to use it but her power has to be used now before what little blood she does drink wears off and leaves her completely defenseless, she’ll have to kill him quickly.
His body starts to convulse as she uses her hand to tear into his fragile throat, black rotten blood oozing over her fingers as his body finally stops thrashing about. She’s still aware of the three heartbeats of the other goons as she finally stands up, her glowing eyes lock onto a man with mousy brown hair, his own eyes are terrified. They all are.
These ones are all human, two are just boys compared to her own age, and they’re all frozen stock still like rabbits to a fox.
Lena is shaking, she doesn’t kill humans, she won’t stoop to her brother’s level. “Leave, go home and forget about this whole night, I don't want to kill any of you. This man was not human, he likely would have eaten you all after my death so take this as an act of mercy. Please.”
The youngest is seems to want no part so he tossed down his weapon and dragged the other two back to their vehicle, the older ones still frozen and staring at the rapidly decaying body of the now-dead ghoul. “Let’s get the hell out of here guys!”
The car ripped out and back onto the highway leaving a wobbly and drained Lena in the dust, “Ugh!” She shrieks in anger as she kicks the rotten body in her rage.
Before she can take out more of her frustration on the dead ghoul she hears a familiar chime of her phone’s ringtone, or more specifically, Karas ringtone.
“Shit. Movie night, I was supposed to be at Karas tonight.” Grumbling as she whipped her bloody hand on her jeans, she bent over to pick up her cracked phone to answer her friend.
“Lena?” Lena sighed, “Hi Kara, I'm sorry for not calling you back, I seem to have run into some car trouble on my way to yours.” Glancing over to her clearly totaled car she winced at the sight of it, “Well more like it's completely totaled now.”
On Karas’s end of the line, she heard a crash and rushing of footsteps, “Ohmygosh! Are you okay Lena?? Where are you, I can come to get you or send my friend to help? Please tell me you’re okay..”
The brunette felt her eyes well up with tears, she really didn't deserve this human known as Kara Danvers, she really didn't.
“I'm off of creek falls and the main highway near the cliff drop, I'm no worse for wear sort of, I'm standing on my own two feet at the moment so I’d say ok, for now anyway, I definitely need a shower and a lot of sleep after this though.” Lena tried to joke but didn't hear Kara anymore, just a rush of air against the microphone.
Confused Lena checks the line, “Kara? Are you still there?”
“Y-yeah Lena I'm still here, um, please don't be mad." Now that made Lena pause. "What? Why would I be mad at you?"
The wind in the earpiece lighted up a bit, "I'm almost there, I'm picking you up, I called Alex she'll be on her way too okay? Was there another car involved or an animal run across the road?" Panic gripped at Lena, Kara can't see this mess! Let alone the rotting ghoul body at her feet, she wouldn't understand!
"Kara, wait, it’s alright I already called the authorities and everything, it'll take a bit but I'm fine right now, also don't drive while on the phone! I don't want to be the cause of yet another accident tonight." Lena hear Kara scoff into the phone, "Thank you for the concern, but I'm definitely not driving, I don't even have a permit." She chuckled at her own expense.
Another pause.
"I'll be fine, just promise not to be mad when you see me? Yelling is fine but don't hate me, please." Anxiety wasn't a common thing for Lena but right now she can feel it clawing up her throat and she swallowed down her guilt of having her sweet fragile Kara seeing what her own monstrous hands are capable of.
She trusts Kara with her life, she'll have to trust her with her dark secret now. "Only if you promise me the same, it’s a mess over here and I'm certain that it'll be horrific for you to see why."
Kara hummed in thought for a second, "Well duh, I could never hate you Lena, or any other bad emotion towards you really." She said carefully like if she said it louder Lena wouldn't believe her.
"Ah wait, I think I see you? Oh." Kara whispered then the line went dead.
Lena was sitting hunched against her busted car, looking around confused at the lack of vehicle, Kara nowhere in sight. Letting out a ragged breath Lena let her head fall back with her eyes closed, praying that Kara would listen to her explain the scene before her.
The brunette’s eyes snapped open when she felt a warm hand on her good shoulder, to say she almost shit a brick would be putting it very lightly because right before her was Supergirl, but in Kara Danvers' sweats, T-shirt, and a very red cape with no socks or shoes to top it all off. Being shocked would be a very light word for how Lena is at that moment.
Super- uh, Kara is pretty much herself while she looks Lena over,  making soft cooing noises as she checks over each scrape and bruise, she all but balls her eyes out when she shifts Lena's shirt to check the gunshot wound.
"Lena, Rao, I should have listened further out for you, if I was listening I could have stopped this." Lena was a bit slow to process her words but she quickly bounced back and stupidly asked, “Kara? You’re not human?” Kara stilled her hands, “Yeah. I'm sorry I kept it from you ‘till now, I just could never find the right moment to tell you. I was going to try again tonight if that’s  worth anything.”
Kara did look nervous, wary that Lena was angry about her lying for so long, but instead of being angry Lena just full body laughed at their predicament.
As light tears started to form in Lena's eyes Kara nervously held the brunette's hand. "Lena? I don't know if laughing should make me feel nervous or happy right now."
Lena chuckled a couple more times and pulled the blonde into a relieved hug. "I've been an idiot, I've been trying to bring up the fact that I'm not human either for the past year Kara, so right now I think it's a bit ridiculous that you've been worrying about the same thing." Lena definitely didn't miss the full bodied twitch Kara did after hearing her say this, she understood though, Lena is technically human but only partially. It was briefly a one sided embrace until Kara hugged her back with almost all her strength, leaving Lena only mildly squished but overall content.
Their little bubble was immediately burst when a black SUV pulled up to blind the two of them, a bedraggled Alex dressed in her own pajamas and combat boots holding a shovel, "Kara. Tell me why did you text me 911 please  bring a shovel! At 1 am Kara- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??"
Alex is out of her car and right by Kara's side almost instantly when the once thought to be dead ghoul flips onto its side to drag its to Lena, grossly gurgling its black blood as it crawls over to the trio.
"That would be what's left of my brother's newest hit and sent to check in on me. He's a ghoul so I probably should have made sure to take the whole head off inside of ripping her throat out." Lena extracts herself from an equally shocked Kara and tugs the shovel out of Alex's limp fingers, "Please pardon me, I'll give it right back."
Alex looks at her dumbfounded, Lena shrugs as she turns back to the ghoul clearly annoyed beyond belief. "I would say have a nice trip given that you're going straight to hell but I really don't appreciate what you did to my car, " she glances over at the once upon a time pristine white paint job and cringes at the many bullet holes and scratches.
"Actually I'm more pissed that I had to meet you at all, so, bye now."
She raised the shovel as high as she could with her good arm and swung down with all of her might, the ghoul let out one last hiss as the head fell from his body.
Exhausted Lena looks back at the gawking Danvers sisters, "Help me clean this up and I'll get you both whatever food you want and could eat for a month?" She was almost certain Alex was going to shoot her up until that offer was in play, both sisters bolted up and came over to help.
"You're also going to fill us in about whatever the hell that thing was and why he worked for your brother." Alex stated as she waved her hand in Lena's direction in an almost protective voice.
"And about the not human thing." Kara mumbled as she grabbed the creatures legs over to the deepening hold Alex was currently working on.
With a big sigh of relief Lena nodded, vowing to answer whatever her two friends asked her.
"Deal."

not a prompt (unless you want it to be) but what are your thoughts on autistic lena and autistic kara meeting as kids at a social skills class or other autism specific setting? (just bc i have multiple lifelong friends from my autism groups)
okay so they start the social skills group when they’re 4- kara has been diagnosed for a few months and lena’s only known for about a week after the luthors did extensive psychiatric testing on her almost immediately after her adoption.
when they’re in group together, most of the other kids don’t want anything to do with lena. she doesn’t like talking to anyone so she’s very blunt and intentionally rude. she gets aggressive with the social worker leading the group and will have a meltdown almost every session.
sometimes she does bad things because she wants attention. she’ll throw things at the social worker if they leave her alone for too long or mess up the bookshelves if she doesn’t like an activity. and sometimes it’s out of lena’s control.
like when one of the boys just won’t stop trying to be her friend but lena really doesn’t want him near her so she pours her paint water over his head. or when the social worker does a story time and they read a picture book about a little girl who has a beach day with her mom and lena throws herself on the ground and flails around, screaming and crying until one of the student teachers has to pick her up and carry her out of the room. they think it’s one of her many attention grabbers but the episode lasts even after everyone’s stopped looking.
kara is super shy. she tends to hang out in the corner and ignore whatever activity is going on because she just wants to play by herself. lena likes that she’s quiet so they tend to parallel play together whenever they’re allowed.
the only part of the group lena likes is kara. as they get older kara gradually breaks out of her shyness and becomes a little extrovert. she’s very talkative but only when it comes to things that interest her. when her and lena parallel play- kara will talk a mile a minute about the barbie movies and lena will silently nod along and pretend to know what she’s going on about.
at 6, kara frequently gets in trouble for interrupting other children or jeopardizing the conversation. when she’s told she needs to stop cutting people off, kara calls the teacher a dumb dumb. she's put in time out and lena writes her a card, telling her that the teacher really is a dumb dumb and that kara has better things to say then all the other kids anyway.
because the luthors are so busy with work, kara's mom will take lena and kara to her place after group for a few hours each week and lena’s nanny picks her up from there. lena loves going to kara’s house because her mom gives them good snacks like gummies and chips instead of the all natural healthy garbage lena gets at home. kara also has a play structure in the back yard. her and lena will swing together and info dump back and forth- typically lena will talk about chess history and kara still talks barbie movies.
when social skills group doesnt ‘work’ and lena is still unmasked and acting out at home, the luthor’s send her to ABA to get her under control. by the time they’re seven, lena’s behavior shifts and instead of screaming and fighting whenever given instructions she doesn’t want to follow during group, she becomes placid and blank and will follow along the way she’s supposed to. she doesn’t try to engage with the other kids the way she’s being taught, or become friendly with the teachers, but she’s well behaved enough that she’s no longer getting in trouble with the people leading the class.
when they enter middle school, lillian pulls lena from the social skills group because she deems lena too old to still have social struggles. lena spends most of her time unknowingly dissociated. she’s quiet and well behaved at home, does what she needs to avoid being punished, and avoids her parents as much as she can. she behaves the same way at school though none of her teachers ever notice anything is off. even when lena turns in writing assignments about abused children running away from home or aliens being raised by neglectful human parents, nobody bats an eye. as she gets older, lena isn’t sure if it’s because they truly didn’t notice or if they just didn’t want to.
during seventh grade, their guidance counselor tries to connect some of the autistic or otherwise neurodivergent students through an after school support group. lena and kara are both reccomended for it-- kara goes because it gives her something to think about other then the recent death of her parents. lena goes becuase the more time she can spend away from home the better.
lena and kara again gravitate towards one another. during sessions, they'll both ask to use the bathroom or see the nurse around the same time, then hide out in a staircase for the next thirty minutes and info dump or gossip to each other.
lena never really tells kara about how she's being treated at home. occasionally she'll drop in a random, vauge detail that alludes to something graphic, then skip right over to the next thing. from that, kara gathers a sense of what's going on. she never asks about it though, for fear that lena might get mad at her and not want to be friends anymore.
and they'd of course stay best friends into high school and beyond, even after they're no longer in autism related groups.

Rager Teenager.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Alex Danvers x Niece!Reader, Kelly Olsen x Niece!Reader
Word Count: 2900.
Alex doesn’t even look shocked when she sees you landing in her backyard, dropping a bag of clothes loudly on the ground.
“Hey.” You greet her with a smile, looking at her standing in the doorway with a glass of wine in her hands.
“Running away, kiddo?” She points at the bag, but she means it like a joke. Let’s just say you were quite generous with the amount of clothes you packed. You could be leaving the house for a month, for what it’s worth. Yet, no one would actually think that you are running away from home.
“Yep.” You shrug it off. Her eyebrows are pinched together immediately. “Can I stay?”
Alex moves away from the door, giving you space to walk in. “Should I call your moms to let them know or-?”
“Nah, they’re aware.” You pick up your bag and make your way inside, passing her on the way in. “Hi, aunt Kelly. Where’s Jamie?”
“Oh, hi.” Kelly smiles at you from her wine glass. She then acknowledges the bag, pointing at it with her face. “Is that some big creation or something fun for you two to do?”
“Actually, just my clothes. I’m moving in.” You smile making your way to the stairs. “Indefinitely.”
“Oh. Sounds fun.” Kelly gives you two thumbs up, not looking as amused as she made it sound. “Your cousin is upstairs.”
“Cool. Thanks for letting me stay.” You say, making your way to Jamie’s bedroom to surprise her.
You are aware they didn’t exactly let you stay. Especially not ‘indefinitely’. But you know they would never say no to you, just like your moms would never say no to Jamie if she wanted to stay at your house. You also know that Alex is probably calling Kara right now, and that at some point tonight Kelly will try to assess how you’re feeling, claiming this is an open safe space.
It’s annoying that they’ll treat you like you’re the one that needs to talk about your feelings and understand them. You do understand what you’re feeling. You’re feeling like they think you should be ok with the fact that you don’t need their attention anymore. And of course you don’t need it. But you want it.
Your moms have always been your best friend. You tell them everything and you like that. You like the fact that you don’t have to be rebellious to get their attention, because you are the most important person in their lives, and you liked that feeling.
But well, now things are different. Maybe you need to change a little. Make a little trouble. Be a rebel rascal. A wild child. A rager teenager.
“Hey!” You drop your bag in a loud thud on the floor, making Jamie look up from her phone.
“I see you finally brought back all the things you borrowed from me.” She points at the bag with her eyes, and you roll yours in response.
“You wish.” You throw yourself on her bed, in front of her. “I’m actually moving in.”
“You don’t say.” She throws her phone to the side, looking at you with curiosity in her eyes. “Well, go on. Let’s hear it.”
You tell her everything and Jamie looks amused that the first time you’re throwing a tantrum is over something so dumb as not getting their attention. Says the girl who doesn’t pick up her phone at eight -not even in a life-threatening situation- because that’s her catch up time with her moms.
“So your big rebellious act is coming to my house?” You nod. “I would’ve thought staying with, I don’t know, Lillian Luthor would be far more dramatic.”
“Should I?” You ask out loud, but you’re actually talking to yourself. “No, right? No. That’s insane.” Is it? Yes, yes it is. “But I do have another rebellious idea in my baggage.”
Jamie zeroes in the bag you brought in. Sure the bag is big, but it doesn’t fit what you’re thinking.
“Not my actual bag.” You roll your eyes. “I meant my emotional baggage.”
“Oh, that’s a lot bigger than that one.” She agrees with her head, making her point. You look at the enormous bag on the floor of her bedroom.
“No, it’s not.”
“Hey, remember that time you almost died?”
“Which one?” You ask and she gives you a satisfied grin, like she is saying ‘touché’. Yeah, you guess she has a point.
“ANYWAYS!” You say, trying to ignore her. “Movies!”
See, it was kind of obvious that you wouldn’t be good at being rebellious. You never had to do this before. You’ve only seen it in movies. Ok, so let’s try what movies did. In Harry Potter, Hermione's big rebellious act was erasing her parents' mind. Huh. That you have the means to do. But no, that’s insane. Right? Right! Making your moms forget you is insane! Maybe you should think of rom-coms or teen movies. Hm, in ‘Mean Girls’ Cady throws a party when they’re parents aren’t in the house and dresses slutty or whatever. You can’t pull any of this off. Who would come to your party? How would you kick your moms out of the house? And you would rather die than dress slutty.
“Movies.” Jamie repeats, incredulous. “You know, for a genius you really lack basic information at times.” She says making you gruff. “You want to be rebellious? Steal Lena’s BMW, sneak out, go to a party, get drunk-”
“I can’t exactly get drunk unless it is alien alcohol.” You add.
“Steal alien alcohol.” She adds to the list, a little disgruntled that you made her lose her train of thought. “Make me go with you.”
“You’re literally giving me the idea.”
“Hmm, yes. Because I’m dying to go to this party Maya told me about, but I need plausible deniability. As in-”
“If your moms ask, it was all my fault?” You ask with an eyebrow raise and she agrees with her head. “Ok, fine. I’ll take the blame. But I think we can be more rebellious than that.” You give her a wicked smile. “Can you imagine how crazy it would be if-” You take off your glasses. “She went to a party?”
“WHAT!” Jamie sits straighter in bed looking equally terrified and excited. “No! You can’t have Superkid go to a party! She is a SUPER! Kara would absolutely kill you.”
“What’s the point of only pissing off Lena? I do that way too much already.” You throw yourself back in bed, thinking about it. “Besides, no one wants a Luthor in their party. Now, who’s going to say no to Superkid?”
“Ok, wait a minute. I-I-” You can tell you have made Jamie really confused when you leave her speechless. “Superkid doesn’t even exist anymore, and you want to bring her back just so you can go to a party?”
“Superkid doesn’t-'' You laugh, then furrow your brows. Holy shit, people still think you’re not supering anymore. “Oh, yeah, about that. I’ve been supering in secret ever since I came back from that other reality.”
“You-” Jamie’s mouth comically open wide like a cartoon character. “But-You-And then-I don’t get it.”
“See? That’s why I’ve been doing it in secret.”
Because how do you do it? How do you go back to being a superhero when you made such a big deal about not ever wanting to be a superhero ever again in your life? How do you unsay it?
Should you just come back home and be like ‘oh yeah, by the way, Superkid exists again, and you have to go back to worrying about me, Lena. And yes, Kara, you might have to go to outer space save me again a couple of times. No biggy. Good night!’
So you don't, right? You sneak in in secret instead. Pray you don't die on the job. Pray they don't find out. And mostly, you pray that you're doing the correct thing, because it's the righteous thing to do and not because you selfishly want that powerful feeling you had before.
“So for weeks you’ve been going around National City saving people and no one knew?” You nod. She needs to make sure. Jamie slaps your arm like you could feel pain. “You didn’t even tell me?”
“I’m telling you right now. Before anyone else.” She still rolls her eyes at you. “Come on, it’s a great way for Superkid to do her comeback. At a party, dancing with stupid teens.” Jamie looks unconvinced. “We can still take Lena’s car.”
“Why would we need it? You can just fly us there.”
“Yeah, I know. But it will piss off Lena.” You give her another wicked grin. “I’ll let you drive.”
“Yeah, ok, cool.”
Simple as that.
So it’s Friday night, Jamie agrees she will go to the party with Maya, and you told your girlfriend you were grounded. Yes, it’s a lie. But barely. You’re sure you’ll be grounded right after this, anyways.
It’s before midnight when both of your aunts say goodnight and go to bed. Kelly makes sure she schedules a ‘talking about your feelings’ session right on Saturday morning with you, before she leaves, though. Ugh, this won’t be fun.
You give them some time, then use your super hearing to make sure they are asleep, before you fly out the window and look for Lena. Like you suspected it’s Friday night and she’s made it back to L Corp, after you left home. Rao, you’re so mad.
You fly home and check for Kara’s presence. All clear. Must be tailing Arnold McKenan or running away from her problems. For someone so brave, you can’t believe how much of a coward she is when it comes to Lena. Rao, you’re raging.
You grab Lena’s car keys, your supersuit in their closet, and then pick the car up and drop off in front of Jamie. You love Jamie, and you know she drives better than you do, but still you fly behind her car the entire time to make sure she is safe. Damn the car, if it was for you, you would toss it in the ocean, it’s Jamie you care about.
“Holy!” Maya says, when she slides in the car. “That’s-wow! Did you steal this?”
“For sure.” Jamie smiles and drives off, leaving nothing but tire marks behind.
“Is that why Superkid is following us?” Maya asks, and you smile to yourself.
“Nah. She was saving a kitten and I asked if she wanted to come to a party. Now, she’s following the car.”
“WHAT!” Maya yells, sounding excited. “You’re joking! We’re going to a party with Superkid?” She gets nothing but a nod. “Holy fucking shit! I can’t believe my girlfriend won’t be there. Maybe we could convince her to sneak out?”
“Please. Do you even know your girlfriend?” You hear Jamie’s response. “She would never.” You scoff. “Besides, I don’t want to be third-wheeling all night. You guys are awfully handsy.”
“Yeah, well. She’s hot.” Maya says, making you smile even more. “Here. We’re here.” And so Jamie parks.
“Hi!” You open the car’s door to Maya, giving you her hand so she can exit the car. “I’m Superkid.”
“Of course you are.” She manages to say, looking red as a tomato.
“Your friend Jamie said it was ok if I came. I hope I’m not intruding on anything.”
“NO! No! Not at all. You’re more than welcomed. I mean, it’s not my party, but I’m guessing you will be more than welcome. I mean, who wouldn’t want Superkid in their party, right? So yeah you’re welcome! Anyways, you cool? I’m cool.” She rambles, making you and Jamie share a look. “Oof, I’m sweating.”
“Don’t be nervous.” You put your hand on her shoulder for a light squeeze. “I’m just a normal teen.”
She wheezes out a laugh. “I don’t know about normal.”
“More than you think. Shall we?” You point inside the house, and she agrees with her head. They fall a little behind you, and you can hear Maya whispering.
“Doesn’t she look awfully familiar?”
“Haven’t you met her before a few times?” Jamie saves you and you smile when Maya agrees, and lets it go.
Let’s just say going to a party as Superkid is on the top of the best ideas you’ve ever had. Superkid is a big hit. There’s even a line so people can take pictures with you. And they all love you. You’ve never felt so loved in your life. This was exactly what you needed.
It sucks that alcohol does literally nothing to you, but you still enjoy watching Jamie and Maya getting louder and flushed and talking nonsense to you all night. So this is what it's like to be a normal teenage girl? You’ll take it.
It is also very exciting that Maya can’t ever stop bringing your name up. The real you. Not Superkid. Not you in this shiny suit. The nerdy you that is apparently home, texting her so she can enjoy the party.
The night goes on and you don’t think once about Lena in her stupid office, doing her dreary paperwork, acting like that fucking company is more important than your family’s existence. You also don’t think about Kara in that stupid DEO, doing her dreary patrol, acting like the fucking world is more important than your family’s wellbeing. Or maybe you thought about it once or twice. But not as much as you would if you were home alone waiting for them. But hey, you shouldn’t be thinking about them! They sure as hell aren’t thinking about you right now.
“Shit, shit, shit.” Jamie says looking at her phone. “It’s mami! She probably noticed I’m not in my bedroom.”
“It’s ok. Let me see that.” You grab her phone. “I’ll take this up in the sky, so she doesn’t hear all the noise.”
“You’re going to answer her phone?” Maya asks, and you realize that it doesn’t make a lot of sense for you to be answering the phone of some girl you just met. Damn! Maya still makes sense even with all the alcohol.
“Oh. Um. I’m really good at impressions!” You say with a smile. But you can’t actually impersonate Jamie. You put both hands on your waist and look up. “Hope, help, and compassion for all.” Then you smile. “That was Supergirl.”
“It was perfect.” She says, and now the alcohol is probably doing the effect again.
“Ok! Gotta go!” You fly up and notice that a bunch camera flashes follow you. Feels good to be loved. “Heeeey auntie.”
“Where the hell are the two of you?” Kelly yells through her phone and you actually have to take it off your ear, because it’s too loud.
“Oh!” Think of something, come on. “We’re at-at the Fortress. I brought Jamie to help me look for this thing-”
“And none of you thought it was a good idea to let us know that? We were here thinking she was kidnapped!”
“By whom?”
“Well, I don’t know. It’s a new threat every day in this town! A few weeks ago you literally vanished from your bedroom one night!” Oh, that. What a cool funny story, that no one thinks is cool nor fun, except you. Kelly exhales. “Why didn’t she pick up the phone herself?”
“Oh! I think she got lost in one of the rooms.” You hate that you’re lying so much. You never once lied to Kelly before. What if she just knows? “Don’t worry, auntie. We’re safe, and will be back home in bed soon, ok? Go to bed, everything is ok. Goodnight!”
You hang up before she answers. Way to be suspicious. You come back to the party and see Jamie hyperventilating afraid of the conversation you just had.
“We should go.”
“Relax, I handled it.” You pick up another jello shot, putting on Jamie’s hand. “Chill, I’ve got this. No one will ever know.”
And when you make it back home and park Lena’s car exactly like it was parked -in all honesty Jamie couldn’t parallel park so you picked it up and put it in its place-, you think no one will ever know. And when you and Jamie sneak in her bedroom and go straight to bed, and none of her moms wake up, you are sure no one will ever know.
Wouldn’t it be nice if that was actually the case? But when you wake up the next morning… Oh, crap. Oh, shit. Oh, no. What are Kara and Lena doing here?

I Shouldn’t Have But I Did
Warnings: Age gap, Reader G!P
Tumblr media
Lena POV
6 years - old
Have I ever told you that I love being one with the water? My family and I would visit our family lake house every summer to unwind and bond with one another. I would always hang around the lake, watch the sunset on the lake’s horizon view. At times I would simply float around in the open water just like what my mother, Lillian, taught me how to do or go fishing with my father Lionel.  Sometimes I would race against my big brother, Lex, who taught me how to swim the basics. Lots of fun times and good memories in the water.
When I was 6 years-old , I watched my first ever Summer Olympics on TV when we’re at the family lake house. At the end of each day, my father would put on the Olympic channel and watch the highlights or live events. I was always interested in the water events. What interested me the most was the swimming events. Lex noticed my interest in the different swimming strokes that the athletes were competing in. From now on, whenever Lex and I were swimming in the lake, he would try to teach me the other swim techniques to the best of his abilities.
He looks terribly awful when he tries to do butterfly strokes or I would constantly laugh at him for not being the best swim teacher but I did appreciate his efforts.
10 years - old
When the summer Olympics came on again, my parents noticed how I invested my time on watching the swimming events. They would watch the competition with me and also cheer for Team USA. I was inspired to swim more when I saw (Y/N) (Y/L/N) won gold for 400m freestyle and 4x100m freestyle relay. It was quite uplifting to see that at the age of 24, you can become a gold medalist for Team USA. It didn’t stop there. I watched her win 3 more gold medals. She never settles for less.
Out on the lake, Lex and I have gotten more competitive when we go swimming. My parents soon realized that I have a passion for swimming. I didn’t even realize it until later on. Lex would mess with me saying that one day I might become a professional swimmer. Little did I know, I would become one. Lillian and Lionel enrolled me into proper swim classes which made me become a better swimmer down the line.
12 years -old
During my first year in middle school, my parents and brother convinced me to join the swim team. I was very hesitant at first but I soon gave in on the idea and went to the try outs. It wasn’t as nerve wracking as I was expecting. In my middle school, they almost accepted everyone who wanted to join the swim team.
That’s how I meant Kara Danvers.
Kara was a great swimmer but her best stroke was backstroke and freestyle. I developed a crush on the blonde. She also had feelings for me too but I didn’t figure that out until the second year of middle school. That’s when we started secretly dating. Our friends find us adorable. A true cute swim couple.
14 years - old
When I entered high school, I decided to join the swim team as well. That was definitely nerve wracking that I thought I wasn’t good enough to make the team. Kara helped me with her moral support and encouragement. She also made the team. The practices were a bit harder but they were manageable. School was tiring though since I was taking honors classes and trying to be a student athlete at the same time.
It made it difficult to maintain a relationship.
Kara and I were slowly drifting apart. I would always be too tired to hang out with my girlfriend due to the swim practices and the overwhelming classes I took. She would get irritated on how I didn’t care enough for our relationship. We would argue about it almost every week. It got really bad to the point where she and I can’t be in the same relay team when it comes to competition time. Our coaches separated us so that we could be focused on our events.
We didn’t officially break up but it was more like we were on a break. That’s when my friends pointed out that Kara had been hanging with the new transfer student, Mike. He also joined the swim team after tryouts. He was able to join since his parents insisted that the coaches should see how good he is. Which they did give him a chance. He was good. Very good that it impressed Kara.
That’s when I knew that my so-called girlfriend would replace me with him. Whenever we had team bondings, like watching this year’s Summer Olympics at someone’s house. I see that she was always with him. Sitting next to him. Joking with him. Dating him. I didn’t care. I wasn’t in love with Kara. She was a good person but she wasn’t the right person for me.
That same year, when the summer Olympics ended, our swim coaches announced that we’ll be having a new add on coach to help better ourselves. Little do we know that our new coach is the 10 time gold medalist, (Y/N) (Y/L/N). Everyone on the swim team freaked out and couldn’t shake the fact that the 28 year old is here coaching a high school swim team.
She explained to the team that she retired her Olympic swim years and wanted to help coach young athletes who want to achieve their goals of becoming an Olympian as well. It was thoughtful of her to think of other athletes instead of just herself. It kinda sucks that freshmens like me and sophomores didn’t get to be coached by the gold medalist. The head coaches believe it was best that (Y/N) would lead the juniors and seniors.
15 years - old
The following year, I seem to have a spectator watching my swim events and I'm not talking about my family and friends. At every swim competition, I noticed that Coach (Y/N) would watch my events. Same with the other coaches on the swim team. They realized that I have always come out on top in my class year and the swim events itself. It was shocking to find out that I have become better than Kara’s boyfriend, Mike. At the end of the swimming competition, Coach (Y/N) came up to me to give her congratulations .
“Lena, right?”
I was caught off guard when she approached me but I quickly regained myself and nodded at her somewhat question.
“Congratulations on the wins. You also beat your PR on one of the events you did. Keep up the good work.”
I was totally speechless and kinda made a fool out of myself in front of the swim goddess. I wasn’t able to say ‘thank you’ and when she threw that signature smile she always puts for the cameras, I was a goner.
“Earth to Lena? Hellooo?”
Lex brought me back to reality. I didn’t know I was standing in the same spot for too long after Coach (Y/N) left. My brother sees that he has my attention now.
“Congrats, Sis. Why are you so blushing?”
I smacked my brother immediately and ignored his question. My parents joined in and also congratulated me. From afar, I saw that gold medalists were taking some pictures with some parents and with the rivalry team as well. She caught me staring at her and simply just threw a quick wink at me. That same night, I had to smack Lex’s head for questioning my reddened face.
16 years - old
I have become one of the youngest swim members to join the upperclassmen to train with Coach (Y/N). The coaches and her discuss how Kara, Mike, and I should be added into the group since they see lots of potential in us on making into the swim team for Team USA for this year’s Summer Olympics.
When I broke the news to my family that I’m going to be trained to become an Olympian swimmer, they were in tears of joy. They were very supportive yet worried for me. They were happy to know and see that I can potentially be something great into the swim world but they were also worried about how this new schedule could affect my education. I’m still a high school student who’s taking higher level classes for crying out loud!
I assured them that it would be fine despite the increase of swim practices coming ahead. Everyday we would have practice twice a day. Morning before school starts and afternoon when school ends. Every Saturday morning there would be practice too. It wasn’t just swimming around in the pool for practice, it was also a mixture of having some runs and doing weight training. It was honestly tiresome. The tiredness would catch up to me to the point where I would be falling asleep in class or that I would become slower in my swim times.
One day, Coach (Y/N) was absent. One of the other head coaches had to lead the practice. I shouldn’t care but I can’t help but ping a little sadness in myself for not seeing the swim goddess. She was kinda the reason I’ve been keeping myself to keep going during these restless swim sets.
“We have a guest in the mansion.” Lex announced when I step into his car. It was either Lex or Lillian to be the one to always pick me up from practice.
“Who?”
“You’ll see.”
When Lex and I got home, I heard my parents and an individual laughing in the living room. It was shocking to see that my swim coach is in my living room, drinking a glass of wine with my parents. The laughing immediately stopped when Lex and I appeared.
“Lena! Lex! Glad you’re finally here.” Our father says to us.
“Lena. Lex. Please go freshen up and change your clothes. Dinner is almost ready. We’ll be eating with Coach (Y/N) tonight.”
The swim coach looked between my brother and I. She smiled widely, “I hope you two don’t mind?”
“I - um. . . Yes? I mean no! No Is what-” I stuttered. I curse myself for looking like a complete fool again.
“No we don’t mind at all!” Lex saved myself from further embarrassment and nudged me to start walking upstairs to our rooms.
“You have a thing for your coach.” Lex starts out.
“I don’t know what you're talking about.”
“Oh come on, Lee. You don’t think I notice how you pay extra attention to your idol whenever she competes at the Olympics? Or how you and your swim buddies fangirl about (Y/N) being one of your swim coaches? Just 5 minutes you were trying to jot make a fool out yourself!”
I groaned loudly and silently nodded at my brother on all the facts he pointed out. He lightly chuckles and sits next to me on my bed.
“You should really be careful about your little crush, Sis. You’re just 16 and she’s like 30 I believe. I know that you and Kara didn’t work out and you’re looking for some love out there. You’ll get over it. Some guy or gal will sweep you over your feet. Someone who’s actually near your age.”
I gave my big brother a big hug but I didn’t admit to him that I think no one else can sweep me off my feet. I know I shouldn’t have but I did. I'm slowly falling for my swim coach.
***
Once Lex and I were freshen up and dressed up, we headed down stairs to the dining room. My father was sitting at the head of the table while Lex faced our mother and I ended up sitting across from my swim coach.
“So Lena, how was practice today?” My father asked me what he usually does everyday.
“It was alright. It was a bit hard.” I replied
“Why was it hard?” Coach (Y/N) jumped in.
“I - um. Coach Brian added more sets than our usual. Since you weren’t there today.”
“Well, more practice makes perfect. Isn’t that right, Coach (Y/N)?” Lillian says.
“Absolutely. Please, just call me (Y/N) since we’re not on school grounds, Mrs. Luthor.” The swim coach says with delight.
“Then you can call us Lillian and Lionel.”
“Lena, sweetheart. Your swim coach is here because she noticed that you have been lacking on your PRs.” My father speaks out first since my coach hasn’t stated why she’s here.
“Are you kicking me out of the team, Coach? I swear I will do better. I will improve by-”
The swim coach lightly laughed at me which confused me.
“Lena. I’m not kicking you out of the swim team. If I ever did that, it would be my greatest mistake. I’m here to give you and your parents a proposal about your swim schedule. I know for a fact that you are a very smart young woman who’s taking a good amount of honors classes which takes up a good amount of your time in your schedule. You are also very stubborn for not dropping out of the swim team which adds more to your plate.”
“Yes, I know. I love swimming with a great passion. It’s my passion. I also love learning.”
“Indeed. But your full schedule deprives you of sleep. Which leads to lacking in a lot of areas.”
“Your coach is right, sweetheart. Have you ever considered just quitting the swim team? So that you're solely focused on school? We’ll support you no matter what and-”
I interrupted my mother, “no. I want to stay on the team. I believe I have a chance of making it into the Olympics.”
“Hm. I told you. Your daughter doesn’t easily give up. She’s one tough cookie.” The coach smiles at my parents.
“Okay, Lena. I already told your parents this but I want to run it by you as well. We’re going to change your swim practice days and times so that you can have an equal amount of focus for your school work and swim. So I was thinking that you’ll practice every other day, 2 and a half hours. Probably 3 hours since you won’t be practicing everyday now and not with the swim team. They’ll be long gone by the time it’s your turn to practice. I want you to rest for a bit between after school and the time you attend practice. How does Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays sound?”
Practice with the team? One on one training? Oh gosh. How am I going to survive? 3 hours with the swim goddess every other day PLUS Saturdays! Dream come true or this is a nightmare? What if I don’t do so well and she’s going to pay extra attention to me.
“Lena, dear. Does that sound good to you?” My parents were waiting for an answer.
“I’m sure she’ll love it.” Lex says it loud enough for me to hear him.
“I- yes! That would be fine with me.” I shyly replied to my hot swim coach.
I still can’t believe this is happening. After dinner, I need to call my best friend, Sam. She won’t freaking believe the things I’m going to spill to her.

Kara/Lena adopt Superboy AU Notes (Part 1)
I’m finally delivering on the content for this Supercorp AU
Tumblr media
This is a Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor and Superboy (Kon-El) centric story. Specifically focused on exploration of one's identity and how you define yourself with the many aspects of your life and choices you made as well as what you consider important and precious to you. The effects of being constrained by how you were born and finding those who love you for who you are and don't ask you to change the core of your being to fit in. — this is not an action packed story at all.
Here are some of the ideas I have for this or things I thought Kon had in common with Lena and Kara that I find compelling.
Lena concepts:
Lena gets to know another Luthor, her biological nephew, who isn’t a trash person and is someone to not just for her to protect but who’s existence assures her that it isn’t blood that makes someone bad and maybe she isn’t so different from other people and she’s not “irredeemable”. Sometimes he reminds her of her older brother when he was kind to her growing up. Likewise, everyone usually sees the Lex in Kon as an inherently bad thing and thus he learns to hide it and hate himself for it. Lena presents an alternate because she remembers bittersweetly a simpler time when she looked up to her brother. Not everyone sees the Luthor genes in him as a threat, Lena finds it comforting to be able to help someone like her in a way she was never helped as a young girl.
Lena thinks she can’t interact with kids well, much less the kid Lex had grown in a lab, but she totally warms up to him and can talk to him about familial rejection (via Clark) and if it’s because he’s a Luthor and if that makes him wrong. Is it because he’s artificial? Is it because he’s some strange illegitimate lab child? Smothering this kid with love and protection.
Plus Kon is like Kara in more than just being kryptonian but also in dorkiness. Lena’s life is just trying to wrangle an overpowered golden retriever and her lab puppy. She can’t stay mad at them for long.
Lena finding she is capable of loving and being loved and being with Kara makes it harder to ignore the crush she has on Kara. They talk together about love and acceptance now they have a shared kid they don’t want to hide personal things from that could later hurt him and many things become open secrets in their now shared house. Soon enough, it becomes obvious she needs to be truthful with Kara about her own feelings for her.
Lena could learn about the difficulties of hiding being an alien that Kara had to deal with and the onslaught and exhaustion of developing powers in young kryptonians. She gets to see first hand what it does to a child and wonders how that must have affected Kara’s emotional development and sense of self.
Lillian and Lex won’t get anywhere near this kid if Lena has something to say about it. Lena knows what it’s like to be the odd one out in a family and for people to reject you for simply existing from other people's sins
Kara concepts:
Kara recounts how she felt like a failure waking up on earth to find out Kal had grown up without her. Now she can maybe make peace with that by taking in Kon even if everything that motivates her choices with him is primarily for kons sake.
Kara can share with another person krypton's history and culture which is something she’s had to keep seperate from her primary identity for years now *cough* it’s almost like she’s an immigrant who has to hide her identity and culture to be accepted and you could use that in the story *cough*
Kon lived through being created as a lab rat and the only living experiment left. Kara could sympathize with his own grief from her experience with survivors’ guilt.
Being open with Kon so that he doesn’t feel that same overwhelming pressure when she was told to hide with a human family also gives room for Lena to learn more about the world Kara came from beyond what she knows from interviews from Superman. Having Kara speak openly about her life on Krypton is much more personal and feels much more real than any article could do.
Teaching Kon how best to control his powers and her and Lena being able to have the resources for him to do so safely
Alex is very alarmed by the new addition to the family, mostly because how shitty Clark was in relation to the kid. From her perspective, this is not the first time the guy has dumped an unwanted kryptonian child on someone else’s doorstep. Whatever, she gets to buy leather jackets for her new nephew and be scary overprotective of him. “I don’t care if you think you’re nearly invulnerable at your age, do you have ANY IDEA what type of trouble your mother got us into when we were growing up? Or even when she just started hero work?”
Conner Kon-Cepts:
His sort-of-aunts can be his adoptive moms and be much better to him than his biological dads ever were to him in the comic canon. Kon actually being allowed to be close to other Superman family members!!! I need it like the air I breathe. Kon could get to know a Luthor that isn’t trying to hurt him or use him. Someone who defies part of why (Kon thinks) Superman could never accept a thing like him.
(I have too many things to say to put in a brief bullet point just know that he’s my fav little boy and I think that he deserves parents who would love him unconditionally and Lena and Kara deserve to live a slower life where they can be cute and domestic)
(If he’s raised by these two then I can give a solid reason as to why we just ignore all the blatant misogynistic and horny writing from the 90s comics that made me really uncomfortable and didn’t completely fit with his given backstory especially with how over the top the specialization was. It helps make up for that)
Kon has to deal with being constantly compared to his two genetic fathers mirroring how Kara and Lena both are constantly being compared to Superman and Lex Luthor as they are the female counterparts of those two more infamous members in their respective families
Kara and Kon have very complementary stories and could become what the other needs to fill a hole in each of their hearts. Canon is way too personally tragic. I’d rather have a bittersweet world that’s also soft so I can spend more time with slow paced character analysis.
(In the beginning, Kon’s much more timid given he’s still so young and is coping with being rejected by superman. The tone at the beginning of the story is very serious. As the story unfolds, kon will loosen up to be goofier like his comic counterparts personality)
Both Clark and Lex don’t deserve this kid in any way. If all they are gonna do is mistreat or neglect him in their own ways, Kon is better off with his aunts.
Conclusion:
Kara and Lena can be happy together by fully trusting themselves with each other in domestic bliss for once AND Kon doesn’t have to cry his eyes out knowing he’s an unwanted experiment child who is “undeserving” of family and home who never got to experience childhood
Everyone who's always saying “you can’t trust a Luthor” better shut their trap when Kara walks in with Kon-El Luthor, her newly adopted son, and her fiancé, Lena Luthor. These new moms will tear you apart if you try to instill that internal hatred of being a Luthor in their son’s young mind.
Kara and Lena both defying what people say about them and instead raising a well adjusted boy from both their warring families.
Kon is gonna be raised by a true power couple.
DC refuses to deliver on giving this boy a home or parents so I’m gonna do it instead. Just look at the family they could be together:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(FYI: This has nothing to do with the version of Superboy in the Young Justice cartoon TV show, so if you’re only familiar with that you may be a bit confused about this Superboy who that one was loosely based on. This whole punk fitted kid is indeed a real character and I stay pretty close to his original design from 1993.)

The heat, of course, was unbearable.
The warmth alone made Lena’s skin burn and turn into a red mass as quickly as she arrives to the old mansion in Italy.
They spend 8 weeks in the Italian heat, posing as the perfect family. This summer was different, though: it was the first July that Lex didn’t come along, it was the first time their father left him in charge of LuthorCorp, the first trial to him, a challenge to seize him up.
The road is full with flowers, some of them blooming, another ones with the first signs of brown on their leaves. They travel in silence, her mother saying something here and there trying to keep appearances. Lena, however, knows the truth: Lillian Luthor wanted to stay on Metropolis with her son, she didn’t want to come to Italy, nor with her cheating husband and her adopted daughter (the one that was Lionel’s lovechild with someone else). She didn’t have another option, some magazine always made an article about their Italian holidays; if Lillian Luthor stayed on Metropolis and didn’t appear on the magazine’s cover by the September edition, people would start talking.
Appearances, everything was always reduced to what others thought of you.
“Tell me about her” Lillian whispers.
Her meaning their guest for the next six weeks.
“A journalist” her father answers “A scientist journalist”
He sounds almost proud.
Taking in summer’s guests was her parents’ way of helping young academics revise a manuscript before publication. For six weeks each summer Lena had to share the house with a total stranger. Lex used to be her buffer and accomplice but he wasn’t here and the task to entertain the guest would fall solely on her shoulders. During this time, Lena used to share her bedroom with Lex but now that he was on Metropolis, she would sleep on her grandfather’s old room and their guest would occupy Lex’s room. While they were away, her grandfather’s room became a part-time toolshed, storage room and attic where rumor had it old Louis Luthor ghost still ground his teeth in his eternal sleep.
Summer residents didn’t have to pay anything, were given the full run of the house, and could basically do anything they pleased, provided they spent an hour or so a day helping Lena’s father with his correspondence and assorted paperwork. They became part of the family, and after almost 20 years of doing this, the Luthors had gotten used to a shower of postcards and gift packages from people who were now totally devoted to their family.
At meals there were frequently two or three other guests, neighbours, sometimes colleagues, lawyers, doctors, the rich and famous who’d drop by to see Lionel’s family on their way to their own summer houses. Her father enjoyed the company, it brought him out of his usual routine: he loved nothing better than to have some precocious rising expert in a field keep the conversation going in a few languages while the hot summer sun, after a few glasses of red wine, ushered in the unavoidable afternoon torpor.
Her mother, of course, hated it.
“Her name is Kara Danvers” Lionel say, his eyes far away “She was recommend by Lex, remember?”
Kara, Lena remembers, is Clark Kent’s little cousin. Clark and Lex relationship has always been a mystery to Lena. Sometime ago she caught the mansion’s maids talking about them, speculating about the nature of their relationship.
And then, there was that time she found them in the library…
Stop.
Clark is nice and whenever he is around Lex seems to be happier.
Around midday, the house was always full of people, there was the guy that suggests going out the pool or the woman that tries to move the party to the nearest bar. Lena was eighteen, she would attend Yale next fall and, if she went her way, this would be the last summer she spends with her parents. Unlike Lex, Lena didn’t want to suffer her mother bad temper more than necessary and even though she will miss her father, Lena was sure next summer would find her anywhere but here. It wasn’t like she didn’t fit with the place, growing up with a charming brother teach her how to perform her duties as the daughter of Lionel and Lillian Luthor: she was nice with her father’s guests, trying to engaged them in conversations, often learning some things, appraising the summer’s residents and making them feel like they were welcomed every time they wanted to come back. It was exhausting but also useful for her future.
After three days there, Lena’s skin turns red and Sam starts mocking her.
“Lobster” she calls her, while they are by the pool.
Sam’s skin doesn’t turn red, of course. It becomes a beautiful and shining brown and whenever she is inside the pool, she looks like a diamond, the little drops of water making her glow.
“Shut up”
Lena wants her to disappear.
(Ok, maybe she just wants to stop feeling butterflies in her tummy when her eyes travels through Sam’s skin)
“Girls” the voice of her father brings her out of her mind and suddenly she’s there.
Tall, blonde and handsome.
“This is Kara” Lionel says but Lena already knows this.
“Hey”
Hey, the word, the voice, the attitude.
Kara doesn’t say anything else and Lena’s blood boils in her veins. Hey, it sounds harsh, curt and dismissive, spoken with the veiled indifference of people who may not care to see or hear from you again.
Hey.
She’s wearing short shorts, sunglasses and, underneath her straw hat, a bun of blonde locks. Her blouse is open two bottoms and a black bra pokes through it, a clear contrast with her golden skin. Oh no.
My mother’s gonna hate her, is the first thing she thinks.
Oh no.
Suddenly, Kara is shaking Lena’s hand, handing her a backpack and asking about the bathroom.
“Boy, that was a long trip!” she smiles and Lena wants to cry.
No, no, no.
It might have started right there and then: the blouse, the rolled-up sleeves, her ridiculous long legs, a pair of blue espadrilles and the eagerness to test the hot gravel path that led to the house, every stride already asking:
“Where is the beach?”
Kara didn’t look like a journalist. She looks more like the cheerleader type than the bookworm. Her golden hair is often on a ponytail but when she lets it down it takes Lena’s breath away.
A fucking jock.
The universe must be laughing of her.
Just like Clark, she seems to have an aura of easiness and everyone in the house fell in her spell very fast. Lena was thoroughly intimated, in an unapproachable kind of way.
Maybe it started soon after her arrival, during one of those lunches when Kara sat next to her and it finally dawned on Lena that, despite a light tan acquired while she travelled through Italy, the color on Kara’s palms was the same as the pale, soft skin of her throat, of the bottom of her forearms, which hadn’t really been exposed to much sun (“I don’t go outside often, Lena, Kara said one time, I love books and reading”). Private, chaste, unfledged, it told Lena things about her that she never knew to ask.

punched in the face by her sexuality chapter6

CHAPTER 6
After the events of friday Kara was not very vocal, although she did spend all of saturday with Lena, not talking much but simply being near the other girl honestly Lena was not sure what they were. For the moment though she would simply be there for Kara, putting any more pressure on Kara could hurt her more. Eliza, kara’s foster mother as Lena had found out, decided that Kara should stay home from school for the week until she was able to get her mental state together. Lena had been allowed to come and go from the danvers house for the last few days, she would bring different foods for Kara and always sat with the blonde and watched cartoons, they seemed to always calm  Kara some.
Sunday rolled around and Lena was staying with Kara her arms wrapped around the blonde as she tried to fight the war with in her head, and the war with her own strength. Lena had brought movies snacks and fuzzy blankets stating that it was all in order to make  Kara feel better, they had not talked much more, Kara had stayed relatively silent but she would talk every hour or so. It was going to be a slow process, but hopefully by the end of the week Kara would be smiling again, and Lena would do anything to bring Kara’s smile back. The smile that light up her days, it warmed her heart, made it beat faster.
Jack had said she was falling in love, but that was before the whole avoidance thing,  now Jack wanted her to stay away from Kara. He was trying to protect her, he had been their after her last break up had left her in shambles. He had been the one to help her through it, her mother could not care less if she was dying. Jack did not know that she was with Kara, she hated not telling him, but right then she did not need to deal with him berating her for trying to help Kara after Kara had hurt her. Currently he thought that she was home sick, and did not want to see anyone. She was crossing her fingers that he would not try and come over with soup or something, although he knew she could easily ask Jerome to make her some.
Deep down she knew that Jack did have a point, that if something else happened Kara could do it all again, shut her out and hurt her even more. Part of her knew that she could be the same way though, when she was scared or hurt, she would try and just shut everything out.  She took a deep breath pushing the thoughts of how she would have to explain to Jack out of her head. This whole situation was getting more difficult to navigate by the second, she was holding onto the hope that after all of this Kara would be able to get back into Jack’s good graces.
Lena was scared of loosing the two most important people to her, Kara and Jack, she needed both of them in her life. Finding a way to have the two be friends could be the only way to make sure she did not lose her best friend. Kara needed her, Kara needed to know that she had people waiting for her when she came back.
“You should go soon, I know Jack and your mother are probably worried  about you,” Kara’s voice was small and weak, but she was speaking and that was an improvement.
“I should, but I don’t want to go if you need me here,” Lena said, she reached up and moved a hair behind Kara’s ear, she cupped Kara’s face in her hand for a moment before pulling back and settling back into the couch.
“I will  be fine I promise,” Kara smiled at Lena, as she tryied to ease Lena’s fears. Kara drew back some after that she was looking at Lena though, as her mind spun with the memories of how it felt to kiss Lena and how she wanted to do it just one more time.
“Kara, you are staring, is their something on my face,” Lena said, raising her hand to try and wipe a non existent thing from her face.
“Nothing, it’s just I uh really want uh,” Kara was blushing, her face near as red as Kal’s cape was.
“You just want what,” Lena teased back, she saw Kara’s eyes yeto her lips and back to her eyes. It took less than a millisecond for Lena to decide what she was going to do.
She darted forward, kissing Kara gently, it was quick and simple but she could feel Kara smile as she pulled away. She could swear that she would never get over the fact that she had kissed Kara,even if she knew that it may not last, whatever they were it may just be temporary. They had not talked about it at all, infact Kara seemed to be avoiding it. She would be lying if she said she was not scared of Kara pulling away and breaking things off, it would leave her broken and hurting, but she would have seen it coming.
Kara was not the type to hurt others though, Kara was selfless and caring, she would never purposefully cause anyone pain. Trusting Kara would be hard, Lena did not trust people with her heart, she had been through far to much to be willing to hand her heart off in a second. It would take time on both of their sides to completely open up, they both had their own secrets and scars, Lena hoped that in time Kara would show hers.
“You should go, before it gets too late, I will see you tomorrow Lena,” Kara smiled at her, before ducking in and giving Lena a kiss on the cheek.
“I will see you then Kara,” She wanted to stay honestly, but she knew that would not go over well with her mother who was probably waiting to yell at her at their estate.
Getting up rather slowly, she walked out of the room and headed towards the front door. She had learned her way around the house as she had spend the whole weekend in and out of it. Eliza was sitting by the kitchen island reading on an ipad, Eliza had been kind to her,kinder than most had been to her. She could see how Kara had come out so kind, even if Kara’s biological parents were not around, she had an amazing foster mother around to support her and help her through her loss. It was more than Lillian had ever given her.
“Miss Danvers is it ok if I come by tomorrow to talk to her,” Lena was standing at the door to the Danvers ready to hop back into her car and leave for her home.
“Of course as long as Kara is up to it,” Eliza said, with a smile on her face, she had noticed the way the two girls had looked at each other. Even she had not been able to get Kara to open up the way that Lena had.
After spending just over a day with the Danvers she had seen just what an actual family is supposed to be like, Lillian was not much of a mother, if she could even be called that. It had been months since she had spoken to Lex and when she had he had been off something was wrong with him, he was not the same. It felt as if her family was slipping away, Lionell had died just two years before and now it was as if she was about to loose her brother and something in her gut told her it was going to get worse.
Shaking her head she tried to rid herself of the thoughts, getting inside the car and starting the engine she gave one more look back at the house. Kara was going to be alright, she was in  a bad place but she was going to be alright, and for the moment that is what she needed to know. The drive was tiring and somewhat long, leaving far too much silence for her doubts to appear in as they always did. The drive was not too long thankfully but it was longer than she wanted it to be. As she pulled up towards the gates of the Luthor estate she saw Jack’s car, he had probably been waiting for a while seeing as he was leaning up against the car with a look of annoyance on his face.
Pulling the car over to the side of the driveway she got out, she was not about to have this conversation near her mother, that would be another catastrophe waiting to happen. The first thing she noticed about Jack was that he was once again trying to grow his beard, he would no doubt be forced to shave it for school again but yet he continued to keep trying to grow it back. His usual smile and charm was lacking as he looked rather angry and slightly disappointed in her, she knew why and she had expected it, but that did little to help her. He was no doubt going to be disappointed to learn where she was spending her time. No one knew that she and Kara had kissed so she knew at least Jack could not yet be mad about that, part of her wanted to tell him but part of her knew that now may not be the time.
“At first I thought you had slept in Lee, but apparently you forgot that we were going to do research today.” His voice was holding some irritation to it, not malice, but irritation and some anger.
“I’m sorry I got caught up with something, do we still have time to get some work done?” she was trying to fix it, trying to make sure that Jack knew that she had truly forgotten, and did not mean to bail on him.
“Would this something be a certain blonde, who you told me you would not see.” Jack said, crossing his arms and arching an eyebrow at Lena, as he waited for her answer. She took a deep breath, trying to figure out what to say, should she tell him the truth he deserved that much he was her best friend, but he would be mad and she did not want that.
“I don’t know what to say Jack,” she finally said sheepishly, not able to figure out how to respond. He was not happy with her, or the fact that she had went after Kara after everything it was not a good idea but it had payed off, not that he knew that.
“Wait, did you sleep with her? Oh my god Lena no” Jack looked utterly shocked, at what he thought had happened. “Did you spend the last two days in bed with Kara, really Lena, really I thought you were smarter than that!”
“No hell no Jack, I wouldn’t do that you know that, or I thought you did. She needed someone and I was there for her ,Jack, can’t you understand that?” Lena said, she came up beside Jack, and put a hand on his arm.
“You know how I worry, you have a habit of getting yourself hurt by girls that don’t care enough about you,” Jack said, he was still cautious of Kara and knew that Lena was not being completely honest about something, but when the time came she would tell him what was going on.
“I know, it’s your job as my best friend to be sceptical and look out for me, I appreciate it, so let’s get inside, and see what we can do about the nano project.” Lena smiled and walked over to the gate’s code box and put in the code,to open it.
“That sounds great,” Jack smiled back he was certainly not about to forgive Kara for what she was doing but she was not going to let that hurt Lena as well so for the moment he would drop it and just spend time with his best friend.
He slipped back into his car and followed Lena’s through the gate and towards the garage, Lillian would always get mad if they left their cars out in front of the house. He had never met someone so cold and bitter as Lillian Luthor, he often wondered how anyone could be so horrible to her own daughter. It was not his place that is what Lena had said so long ago when he had tried to get her to talk about it. He pushed it from his mind though, as he parked his car and got out, Lena was smiling looking out over the estate, something had changed he could tell although there was some sadness hidden in her he could tell that something good had happened.
They walked towards the house not saying much, both of them deep in thought Lena was already trying to do some of the calculations in her head, while Jack was still worrying over the Kara situation. Maybe a good shovel talk would be in order, actually a good shovel talk was 100% needed after what Kara had pulled. He was not as fond of Kara as he had been just two weeks before, but for the sake of Lena’s happiness he would try not to hate her.
“You know I think mother is trying to keep a secret from me,” Lena broke the slightly awkward silence, after seeing her mother peaking out a window looking at them.
“Isn’t she always keeping secrets though?” Lillian was far from an honest person, he had learned that within fifteen minutes of meeting the woman. Trusting Lillian was like trusting a tiger not to eat you after it had been starved for weeks.
“This seems different though, I just have a bad gut feeling you know,” Lena said, they had reached the door, and stopped there not wanting to risk walking right into Lillian, it would not be the first time.
“Well we will just have to keep an eye out, nancy drew,” Jack quipped back, before opening up the door and going in, he knew that if he did not then Lena would have them stand out there until Lillia began to think something was up.
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
“Kara, you know if there is something between you and Lena you don’t have to hide it from me” Eliza had come to sit next to her youngest daughter, as Kara sat on the beach watching the waves hit the shoor. Soon after Lena had left the house Kara had silently made her way outside.
“There isn’t or at least right now, I’m not really sure,” Kara let her head drop to her hands she was exhausted and scared, and she was worried that her inability to figure out where she and Lena stood would hurt the raven haired girl.
“Sometimes it is ok to be unsure, but just remember if you take too long you could lose her,” Eliza put a hand around Kara’s shoulders and pulled her closer. Kara rested her head on her foster mother’s shoulder as she looked out over the ocean.
“Why is everything so confusing, can’t just one part of life actually make sense and be normal.” the sadness and regret in Kara’s voice let out a small portion of  just how much she had lost and how much she continued to carry on her shoulders.
“I don’t know, but life tends to always be confusing, that isn’t going to change just because we want it to. You have to embrace life's changes sometimes and you have to learn around them even the bad ones.” Eliza knew all too well that life changed in the blink of an eye, and it was not always a good change, some changes left her broken others gave her another daughter.
“I should start getting ready shouldn’t I,” Kara gave Eliza a small smile, knowing that it was past time she started her day, after all she could atleast do something besides drown in her own mind.
“That would be good we can call Alex and then maybe you can go pick up some things for me,” Eliza had it planned out she figure that Kara being who she was, would not be able to keep herself secluded for too long and seeing as Kara had relatively good control over her strength for the  moment it would be good for her to get out.
“ that sounds ok, I can do that,” Kara smiled and looked up at Eliza, over the last week she had gotten a small handle on her strength, it was enough to where she had to focus most all times to ensure that she did not break anything but hopefully it would get easier.
“Good now go get ready, and  I will make the list,” Eliza shifted and got up,  she offered Kara a hand up knowing that Kara did not need it but wanting to offer the comfort that came with touch.
Kara took Eliza’s out stretched hand and got up, she proceeded to run towards the house, a small smile playing on her face. Eliza held in a laugh as her daughter ran out of sight, Kara was always full of energy and even when things were going wrong she was a ball of sunshine. As she walked towards the house she could already hear Kara opening and closing the front door, before Alex had left for college they had talked about trying to figure out exactly when Kara’s full powers would begin to manifest.
There was no choice of whether or not Kara would get powers, Kara had no choice in that no one did. Kara saw them as a curse, and in many ways they were, she was never allowed to fully relax because of the risk that her powers brought. When she had first arrived Kara had been to distraught to care about her powers or anything else. No one knew the struggle that Kara was going through, Clark for all of his claims to understand could never truly grasp how much Kara had lost. Part of Eliza was angry with Clark for that, for thinking that he understood and putting himself before Kara.
She walked up to the house knowing that Kara was likely near done getting ready, and would be waiting for her to hand over the list of chores for the day. Entering the kitchen she went to the counter grabbing a pen and notepad and jotting down the list, it was not to much, she did not want to put too much pressure on Kara. As she put the last item on the list she heard Kara rushing down the stairs, despite Kara’s powers she had not yet figured out how to be silent when moving about the house, at times Eliza was thankful for that as it ensured that she would notice if Kara tried to sneak out.
“Ok where is the list?” Kara came to a halt right in front of her foster mother, she was smiling, it seemed that Lena’s visit earlier that morning had a larger effect on Kara’s moral than Eliza had thought it would.
“Here you are dear, now get going and don’t take to long I don’t want you out too late,” Eliza smiled as she ushered Kara towards the door with the list in hand.
“Love you Eliza, I will be back soon,” Kara smiled as she closed the front door and headed towards her car, she had not driven since the week before as Eliza had been with her whenever she was not in school.
Kara hopped in the car and looked at the list, it was simple enough she needed to go by the dry cleaners and pick up a few things, go by the lab and check on Chester before heading to the farmers market.The first few items on the list went easy, Chestere the monkey at the lab, they were working on helping him recover from experimentation that had been inflicted on him by a corporation. He loved Kara she was his favorite person, he even tried to share a banana with her once.
Lucy worked weekends at the market, hopefully  she would be able to avoid her, eventually they would have to talk but it was best if she waited a while. Lucy was a good friend and a good person, she did not deserve to be left out and pushed away like she was being but Kara did not know what else to do.
For the time being she would have to think it over, maybe she could get them to drop it for a while that would be good. She could get her friends back and just ignore what was going on, but Lucy and James would never do that, if she pouted Winn would though. Forgiveness was likely not to come in the next few days but maybe if she tried instead of avoiding them then she would have a better chance.
Pulling up to the lot where the farmers market was always held, she could see Lucy’s car parked in the corner. That meant that there was no avoiding Lucy seeing as she needed to go over to the stand that Lucy worked at to get the watermelon. She parked as far away from Lucy as  she could, hoping that it would buy her some time before Lucy noticed her. Taking a deep breath she got out of the car, and headed towards the stands.
She could see James in the corner of her eye as she stopped by the stand run by one of the local farmers, he always brought chocolate covered popcorn that he had made. It was one of her favorite things. They also sold caramel covered popcorn but she really did not like it, she did not really like caramel even on popcorn she hated it, she just hated caramel. She was already eating it as she began grabbing the various items on the list, she was going through the list for the market slowly, in the hopes that Lucy would take a break and she could go over when James and her were not over there.  Her luck ran out through, as Lucy and James were headed over her way.
“Kara, good to see that you are alive,” Lucy was being somewhat sarcastic, but Kara could see the genuine worry that lay beneath the surface of her words.
“Yeah, I’m in one peice,” Kara answered back trying not to be cold or dismissing, but still being vague enough. She was smiling, but James and Lucy certainly were not they were somewhere between anger and worry.
“What is going on Kara, whatever it is please just let us in” Lucy put a hand on Kara’s shoulder as she spoke. Kara felt guilt twist in her stomach as she decided that the best course of action was to tell a partial lie.
“I just had some stuff going on Luce, that’s all,” Kara did her best to keep the crinkle from forming.
“You know I used to think the crinkle was adorable when you were just lying about small things, but now I kind of hate it,” Lucy put her hands on her hips, a frown formed  on her face as part of her concern went away with Kara’s words, it was replaced by irritation.
“Lucy, James please it is just really complicated right now, can’t you understand that?” Kara pled with her friends, trying and hoping that they would be able to push the last week behind them if only for a little while.
“You expect us to just take that for an answer! we are your friends Kara we are worried about you  please let us in.” James said, he had been mostly silent, his eyes gave away just how worried he was about her.
“No, I expect you to understand that right now I need to figure things out and that means that sometimes I may have to push you away to do that.” Kara was trying to keep her cool, she knew that she had not given the answer that they were looking for, but she had given them the truth. James crossed his arms obviously not happy with the answer that she had given, it was understandable.
“So you will just cut us all off anytime something happens, that is not fair to us Kara and you know it.” Lucy jumped back in with anger flashing in her eyes, as the words left her mouth. It was understandable but that did not stop the fact that is still hurt to hear it.
“No I just, sometimes I will need space and stuff,” Kara said, trying to fix her earlier statement and make up for it. It did not seem to work though as Lucy’s eyes seemed to just harden and she lete out a scoff.
“Whatever Kara, whatever,” Lucy turned on her heel and walked back over to the stand, getting back to work.
“Next time Kara you could just tell us, we would respect that you know, you hurt Lucy she thought you would have trusted her more than that, we all did Kara.” James looked sad and almost disappointed, he was trying to be the voice of reason for the moment.
“I know I handled it badly, and I need to fix things I messed up, and I know that, it will take a while for me to get back to where you all trust me again won’t it?” Kara hung her head the guilt making itself apparent in her voice.
“You will, it is going to take time for us, for me, for Winn and even Lena and Jack to trust you again, you hurt us Kara weather you meant to or not you did.” He turned away after saying that and left headed back towards Lucy, who had been looking at them for the last minute.
Kara hung her head and decided it was best if she did not get the watermelon, she would have to tell Eliza why and that would be a whole nother thing. It was her best option, walking away at least for now, on monday she would try and fix things, she would make it up to them, she may not be able to tell them the truth but she will make sure they know how much they mean to her.
She would have to tell Lena that they thought that she had not spoken to her, they would have to figure out what to tell the rest of their friends. Telling them they were dating, were they dating, she was not sure they had kissed twice but it may not have meant the same to Lena as it had to her. That thought was scary, the thought that maybe it would end their two kisses and tha twas all they were over. Those two kisses had ruined her, the soft feel of Lena’s lips was so different than anything she had felt before, she way Lena had smiled after they kissed.  She wanted to kiss Lena again, she wanted to do more than that though.
Maybe she could ask Lena out, maybe she could have a future with her, with the amazing genius that was capturing her heart piece by piece. Something about Lena felt like home, it felt like part of her could come back with Lena, and she wanted that piece of her. She wanted to make Lena smile, to be the reason for Lena’s laughter.  It was something she had not felt in a long time, she felt as if she had someone who would understand her if only for a while, she knew she had many people to listen but no one seemed to fully understand how she felt how the world seemed to taunt her at times. In Lena she felt that understanding she felt that peace that she had not seen or felt in a long while.
sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes
Now that we know how they react with Kara getting hurt any head cannons on how the kids act when Lena gets hurt or is in danger? Do they have any concept of how many threats arise because of her family name or has enough time passed since Lex that it's just a bad memory?
so this ask sort of goes hand in hand with this other one i received so i sort of split the long answer between the two!!  i’ll link it for ya babes, enjoy the angst and the superbabies Constantly Worrying abt their human mommy
so like??  if u think the kiddos react poorly when its kara that’s hurt, i need ya to remember that they’re still pretty confident that kara will always walk away from a fight in one piece.  like she might get hurt??  but they (perhaps a lil naively) dont think that kara’s rlly ever going to be Hurt.  like they’re terrified in the moment, but it doesn’t like??  stick i guess??  i guess it’s sort of like…….she’s a superhero, danger sort of comes with it and kara’s careful and she’s like???  invincible??  one time stella gets rlly scared for her, so maia gets the idea to prove that they cant get hurt and bends like all of the kitchen knives trying to stab her hand so like…thats what’s in the kiddos’ heads when kara goes off to save the city/world.  bent kitchen knives and stella’s laughter and maia’s grin and finn rolling his eyes but going alone with it, holding his hand over open flame to prove he can’t get burned
but lena??  lena is terrifyingly human.  lena can burn and bruise and bleed and each kiddo has their own relationship to that, like finn cries and frets and maia seethes and rages and stella worries and plans (mind u, stella probably is the most……not ok with it, but she’s the most comfortable with lena’s vulnerability if only bc she’s just as vulnerable, often has a similar target on her back from lex/lillian bc she’s the most easily hurt of the kiddos??)
god they dont handle lena being in danger well At All and they handle her being hurt even worse, bc like??  she doesn’t heal as fast as kara, she heals at a human rate and there’s no magic sun lamp to make her all better
like when the kiddos are p young (like finn’s eleven or so) lena gets in a minor car accident and breaks her wrist and they all sort of freak the fuck out and that first day after she’s released from the er, she’s taking pain killers and is sort of just lazing around and taking it easy and the kiddos wont leave her side, like kara runs out to pick up dinner and the kids r sort of hovering around lena, pretending like theyre doing their own things, but when she comes back, they’ve all just cuddled up to her on the couch and maia’s carefully painting the nails on lena’s injured hand and stella’s fallen asleep on lena’s lap and finn’s tucked up against lena’s good side and they dont rlly move for the rest of the night tbh
i would say they have a p good grasp of the sort of threats against lena, like they grew up knowing how to behave in panic rooms and learned several emergency drills as part of their routine and saw lena hurt, threatened more times than they’d ever like to remember.  they react as well as can be expected from kids in that sort of situation, and it helps a lot that their moms r so good and rlly work to make sure they feel safe as much as possible and try and assure them as best they can
but like??  they’re all so protective of lena, they rlly are, and unfortunately they have good reason to be.  she’s on several ppl’s shit list tbh, and there are a fair few attempts on her life within the kids’ memories, like stella was there for several just bc she generally spends more time around lena and every single time resulted in her refusing to leave lena’s side for weeks after the fact.  she just Will Not, like when she’s older and has to go to school, she is just constantly texting lena and like normally lena would tell her to stop, she needs to pay attention in class, but she also saw stella all but wailing in kara’s arms when lena got loaded into the ambulance so maybe she writes a note for stella’s teachers asking that they excuse her texting for a couple weeks
woo that got Dark
finn like…..idk its not like he feels like As the Man of the House he needs to protect all the girls in his life bc thats ridiculous and ignores their agency and his mamas raised him right, but he grew up watching kara protect their family, their city, the earth and he carries those instincts rlly deep in him and like he worries abt everyone, he’s such a worrier, but its different for maia and for kara and its even different for stella, bc stella at least has powers, can sense things, but lena is???  completely human????
and the first time he’s fully aware of this is when he’s three and his little sister is still so small and round and giggly and he had a stomach ache so lena calls out from work, tells jess to push her meetings so she can stay home and she’s put maia down for a nap and is coming in to check on him when he hears her scream from down the hall and like??  u know how little kids dont necessarily know when bad shits going down, but they Know??  well he knows.
so finn forgets all abt how his tummy hurts and runs as fast as he can and he’s rounding the hall just as kara barrels through a window, shoves him into the bathroom and pulls the door closed, but he saw lena on the floor, face twisted in pain with blood at her temple, oozing sluggishly from her shoulder and down her arm, saw the masked man that stood over her
he doesnt rlly ever forget that.  the memory fades a little, dulls over time, but he has a lot of nightmares abt it, can’t completely put it behind him bc it was the first time he realized his mommy wasnt the same as his mama, wasnt as strong, wasnt as safe
it’s rlly bad for almost half a year after that, like he has nightmares more often than he doesnt and ends up in kara and lena’s bed most nights after waking up sobbing
when he gets older he sort of??  he doesn’t outgrow that bone deep fear, but it gets channeled into different avenues i guess
the first time maia ever has to confront that shit, she’s eight and its the assassination attempt from sun is gonna shine above and she’s never??  realized???  like she saw lena with a broken wrist and she’s seen her sick and so on and so forth so she’s got a grasp on the fact that lena’s human, not quite so invulnerable, but she’s never rlly understood what the consequences of that might mean??  but then they’re all sprawled on the floor of the deo and finn’s wailing into kara’s arms abt how he thought they were dead and she looks at lena and she looks at stella and she looks at kara and she’s terrified suddenly and she starts to cry and it all becomes a blur after that but then it’s a couple weeks later and she’s finally processed a little and she sort of scares her moms bc she crawls into their bed one night very late and asks very seriously if lena’s going to die
and like???  shit what are you supposed to say when your eight year old asks if you’re going to die???  jesus, there was no chapter abt this in literally any parenting book either of them have ever read
they explain it as best they can, that there are some very bad people in the world and they dont like lena very much and sometimes they want to hurt lena, but kara’s quick to remind maia that they’re all very safe and that she and aunt alex and uncle james and everyone at the deo work rlly hard to make sure they all stay safe but maia’s sort of changed after that??
and like…..her anger isnt from this one flashpoint alone, but it is a launching point.  like??  her mom is so kind and loving and soft, why would anyone want to hurt her??  why should the world allow her to get hurt???  it’s not fair.  so maia gets angry and she stays angry and she takes it out on bad ppl that hurt her family, takes it out on bad ppl that try to hurt lena and the difference btwn how she reacts with kara and how she reacts with lena is that she never, never says a word of it to lena, she refuses, bc if she does that, she’s admitting she’s scared that lena’s going to get taken from them, she’s admitting that lena’s human, that she’s mortal, that she can bleed and die and maia’s not willing to admit that
stella is probably the kiddo that never rlly has the realization bc its so ingrained in her like and i dont mean this in a bad way but there’s this understanding that where kara and finn and maia are alike, stella and lena are alike and stella understands that she’s not as strong as her siblings so it makes sense that lena’s not as strong as them either, u know??  it doesnt come as a surprise or anything and her powers mean that the threats to her mother dont come as a surprise either, bc by the time she’s registered what those threats rlly mean, she’s already been living with the reality of them for years
and ive said this a bunch but stella responds by becoming lena’s shadow tbh, she just sticks even closer to her mom and freaks out when she can’t bc she feels rlly powerless???  she cant help kara, but that makes sense, bc stella’s not the same as kara??  but she’s like lena and she can’t help her either, so what good is she to anyone, what use is she, how does she deserve her mothers
and to be fair, most of these feelings arent hers alone, bc when she gets sad or angry or hurts, its a lot easier for her to sort of take on negative emotions from the rest of the world, so it sort of spirals but that is the reality of it, she’s sad and she’s scared and she refuses to let lena out of her sight every time lena gets threatened or hurt
THERES UR DAILY DOSE OF SUPERBABIES ANGST, UR WELCOME
Kara:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: Sees the best in everyone, hopeful, adorkable cutie, handles her loss of her world well (it drives who she is and her decisions)worst quality: Choice in men (this season), how easily she’s influenced (this season), thinks she can change an unchangeable person (this season), not trusting and supporting her sister (this season), not spending time with her sister when they need each other most (this season), jumping into bed with a magical change of emotions (this season). In general...I think she’s too trusting (I would have expected her to have trusted Jeremiah and his return more than even Alex)ship them with: Cat (tis the reason I began watching Supergirl). I’m coming around to Lucy too. Or Vasquez.brotp them with: ALEX, MAGGIE, J’onn? Isn’t that more familial, but I guess it’s brotp too.needs to stay away from: Mon-Elmisc. thoughts: She’s so ooc this season and I’ve come to the point of not caring about her scenes or like...her well fare. Get her away from Mon-El and I’ll start to INSTANTLY love her as I did in season 1.
Maggie:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would banghogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: Her unwavering faith and understanding toward those she loves, even going against the law she swears to uphold in order to help Alex. Her compassion and kindness. Badassery.worst quality: Does she even have a worst quality at this point? :/ C’mon, give us more depth. Uh...maybe not being completely upfront and honest with Alex when she knows they can be with each other? But she was traumatized so I also give her a free pass there too.ship them with: ALEXbrotp them with: Kara.needs to stay away from: Her parents.misc. thoughts: GIVE. HER. MORE. SCREEN TIME. AND. MORE. DEPTH. Fun fact, you guys, you did you know that Sanvers screentime in the fall (Season 2A) was barely a full episode of Supergirl, 44 minutes in total? Of eight episodes. And supposedly Maggie’s a recurring character this season? Okay, nevermind that ‘break of the fourth wall’, misc thoughts about Maggie, let’s see...uhm...I’m very attracted to her, want to see her be more badass and snarky and I wish we could get more of her and Kara bonding. Though at the moment, with the episode they’re pairing up to save Alex, I firstly want to see Maggie ream out Kara for being a bad sister.
Lena:
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang | There are moments of hotness but it’s not a consistent thing (I do not like her hair up)hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: Trying to better herself worst quality: Lack of subtletyship them with: No one yetbrotp them with: Karaneeds to stay away from: Lillian Luthormisc. thoughts: There’s potential for a good character here but because of the writing this season, everything is unbalanced and I feel she’s being written as a poor substitute for Cat. They’re plagiarizing their own writing from season 1 with the parallels and it’s irks me. Write something original for Lena instead of rehashing old scenes. (fair warning this comes from a place of just learning of some serious fic plagiarizing of a friend’s work so it’s not very logical, forgive me. I could like Lena but keep her romantically away from Kara please)
A meeting with a Luthor.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Lillian Luthor x Granddaughter!Reader
Word count: 1650.
It’s becoming a thing. Seeing Lillian, you mean. It shouldn’t. It’s insane and weird and completely out of line, but still, a thing.
Like she knows exactly what you do, when you do it, and how you do it, the day when you don’t have anything planned -no dates, no L Corp, no training- she shows up at your school. This time she didn’t even leave the black car she was in, she just lowered the car window, and nodded at you. It didn’t even take convincing this time, just a nod, and you were in the car on the way to a restaurant.
“Grandmother.” You open the door and slide in.
“Granddaughter.” She tilts her head, and a little-tiny-really-small smile comes to her lips. “I was hoping you were having a free day so we could go have dinner together.”
“Dinner sounds great.” You agree, putting your backpack between your feet, and fasting your seatbelt. “I’m always down for food.”
“Of course you are.” She gives the driver directions, and out you go.
It’s a different restaurant this time. Fancier. You almost feel bad for being in your school T-shirt -like you had any other option- but Lillian waltzes in without a care for your appearance, and you follow, starting not to care too. If the Lillian Luthor doesn’t care about you walking in a fancy restaurant in your sneakers, it’s not you who are going to.
“I thought we could try some Greek food today.” She says, showing you the table, and you agree with your head.
It’s not like you never tried Greek food before. One of Lena’s favorite food is Moussaka, and somehow you think Lillian knows this, and somehow you think she brought you here, because she can’t exactly have Lena here with her without ending in a fight.
“Cool.” You sit on the table across from her. You let her order the food, she knows she has to order more food than if you were a normal teenager, so you don’t interfere. She is the one paying for it, anyway.
“Created something interesting lately?” Lillian asks, and as far as small talk goes, you rather she had started off with a lighter topic, but you shrug, sipping on your water.
“Haven’t been in the lab in a while.” You feel it in your bones when you say that. You haven’t been to L Corp in more than a month, which feels completely out of character for you.
“Oh, I hope you haven’t lost interest in science. You’re very good at that.” She says, and you look down, blushing in embarrassment. God, why do you always feel so flustered whenever Lillian throws a random compliment at you? “But I guess for a kid the superhero part is more exciting.”
“Um, no. I mean-” You think about it for a second. You’ve always wanted to go out and go supering with your momma, saving National City and feeling like you’re doing something good for the world. And honestly, when the world was at stake -not your world, but still- you went supering and it was fun. It was great, actually. But you’ve always liked science, robotics, and experiments a little more. Science was always there for you, even when you were terrible at controlling your powers, and even when your powers weren’t there at all. “I’m still interested, I just-I-Um-Have other stuff to focus now.”
And ‘other stuff’ herself, just walked into the restaurant with her parents right behind her. Maya looks at you, and you two lock eyes, while their parents talk to the host. Somehow your cheeks get even more flushed at the sight of her, and your heart skips a tiny beat. What are the odds?
It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Actually, it wasn’t supposed to happen at all. The whole idea was to never ever in your life have Lillian Luthor, your girlfriend and -worst of all- your girlfriend-Luthor-hater’s parents in the same space. But somehow, here you are.
“Of course.” Lillian agrees, after following your eyes, and landing in the same place. “I see you’re still seeing the Rose girl.”
“Mhm.” You agree, looking back at the table. You sip on your water, just to have something to do.
“Should we invite them to dine with us?” She asks politely and you snap your head at her, at the sound of that.
“We should not. No. Rao, please, don’t.” You beg, shuffling in your chair uncomfortable. Lillian was never once the sociable type. Why the hell is she suggesting asking them to join you? It’s like… She knows. Oh. There’s a little tinkle in her eyes. A little too murdery for your liking. “Do you know them?”
“We have crossed paths before, yes.” She admits, with a little nod. “Mr. Rose is a very unsophisticated man, if I must say. A lawyer who fights only for himself. But I guess most of them do.”
“I don’t wanna hear this. It’s not my problem.” You say, a little too aggressive for your own liking, but apparently Lillian doesn’t care. She’s used to much worse.
“I would think it was, given they were so ungrateful after you saved their daughter’s life.”
“Well, they only know me as a Luthor, so-” You shrug. “Can’t really blame them for not liking me, can we?”
“I suppose not. The Luthor name has seen better days.” She sighs, and drops the subject as soon as the waiter comes in with the food. Lillian points at the Moussaka, with her head. “Lena used to like that.”
“She still does.” It’s the first thing you pick up, and her smile comes this time.
You finish eating, and while Lillian pays for dinner you make your way to the bathroom, before leaving the restaurant. You are not trying to listen to them, you really aren’t, but when you pick up Lillian’s voice saying ‘Mister Rose’, you can’t hear anything else anymore.
“Lillian Luthor.” It’s Mr. Rose’s voice. Oh no. This is bad. Too bad.
“Just thought I would introduce myself to your daughter.” Lillian says. “She is dating my granddaughter, after all.”
“Oh, I’m-Well-I-” Maya chokes on her words, and you feel bad you’re not there to protect her. Although you think if you were, it would probably be worse for her. “I’m Maya.”
“Yes, you are, dear.” Lillian says again, and you pray to Rao she’s going to walk out of there and leave all of them alone. “Mr. and Mrs. Rose, I hope the next time you meet my granddaughter you can be more respectful towards her, provided she didn’t exactly choose to be born a Luthor.”
“We know Luthors very well, they are born evil.” It’s Mrs. Rose’s voice that you hear now.
“I would’ve believed so. But that girl doesn’t exactly meet these criteria. So, I would appreciate you having a little bit more care about what you say to her and how you treat her.”
“Is that-Is that a threat, Mrs. Luthor?” Mr. Rose tries to pretend he is unaffected, but you hear his heart almost beating out of his chest.
“Please, don’t be ridiculous Roger.” Lillian adds a little scoff to his name. “We both know that if I was threatening you, you wouldn’t have to ask me that.”
Oh Rao, no. That was a threat.
“Please, enjoy your dinner.” She adds a little later. “It was nice meeting you, Maya.”
Nothing more is said, and you suspect she has finally stepped away from their table. That’s when you leave the bathroom, though you have finished your business long ago. You make your way out of the restaurant, to meet Lilian there, waiting for you. You both slide back in the car in silence.
“Should I add Greek food to your list of favorite foods?” Lillian asks, like she actually has a list of your favorite foods. You know what? She might as well have a whole list of your favorite things.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” You look at her. She initially looks confused, but then it sinks in. “Did you forget I have super hearing?”
“I have to admit, yes.” Lillian confesses, pressing her lips together.
“You threatened them.”
“I did no such thing.” She defends herself and you roll your eyes. Both to the lie, and to the phrase you have heard Lena saying so many times. How annoying it is finding resemblance between them.
“Saying that you are not threatening someone is the definition of a threat. You of all people should know that. I would’ve thought you have threatened several people in your life.”
“Well, my threats never sound like that. So you have nothing to worry about.” She looks to the front, like she doesn’t want to talk about that anymore, but still adds. “Should anything happen to them, I guarantee you, it was not my doing.”
“So, you promise?” You ask and she turns her face to you again. You lift your little finger in front of your face, and she sighs.
“This is a childish pact.”
“It’s an oath, nonetheless.” You don’t move. She stares at your little finger and breathes heavily. It takes her a few seconds, and reluctantly she intertwines her little finger with yours.
“Then, I promise.”
You smile looking at Lillian’s finger intertwined with yours. What are the odds, right? You feel the car stopping, and you unattach your fingers, looking at your house behind you. You unfasten your seatbelt, pick up your backpack, and leave the car. Before closing the door, you look at her, still inside.
“You can add Japanese food to my list of favorites.”
“I know a fine Japanese restaurant.” She says, almost to herself, like something she should remember, a plan.
“We should go there next time.” You smile and salute her off. “Grandmother.”
Lillian smiles a little, and tilts her head at you. “Granddaughter.”
Thanks @adeledewittj for this prompt, I love writing Lillian.
Nightmares supergirl fic
A.N. This fic is rather angsty so just a warning It has some implied sanvers Night mares LENA For Lena she has suffered from night mares since her mother's death she honestly can barely remember a time before them before the sleepless nights tossing and turning scared of closing her eyes for fear of what would greet her in her dreams. Some nights it was the car crash that killed her mother it was a blurry memory but each time she dreams it she feels each emotion of panic course through her and the moments of realization that come after when she wakes up alone and cold in bed she can not help but let a few tears fall. Lionell would stand over her his eyes kind and caring then suddenly the scene would change turning darker she would shrink more into herself as she knew what was coming the yelling the anger as Lillian would enter her eyes cold and calculating. She would argue that Lena did not belong that she was worthless to them what use was taking the child in. Lionel would start to cough suddenly unable to breath he would grow paler and fall to the floor, and just like clock work she would run to him Lilian holding her back keeping her from helping the closest thing she had to a good parent. Lilian never offered any comfort no she seemed to blame Lena for his death. “ you see what you have done girl you killed him” Lilian would spit at her. Her eyes were filled with tears she was trying not to allow them to spill out Lillian always took that for weakness. “ I didn't mean to mom i didn't mean to!” she would desperately beg holding onto her adoptive mother's leg trying to beg her to give her some sort of consolation in her time of loss . Lilian would push her away and shew her to her room and as she entered she would hear the door lock. On the darker nights she dreams of Lex and how he changed seeing him slowly transform into the monster the world knows right in front of her eyes she sees his love change to red hot hatred. Her older brother grabbing her by the neck and killing her others it was torture each time she woke up gasping for air terror and heartbreak all melding into one. Lillian soon became a constant her disapproval and in ability to love Lena showing through each night Lena found herself helpless in the arms of a cyborg trying desperately to fight against the inevitable of LIllian's control. Those nights were some of the worst those nights she would send a text to Kara and schedule lunch for the next day she needed to see someone who cared someone who was not going to let her family hurt her. JAMES For James it was losing what he had James had lost his father to a war he had lost his mother to cancer years later he did not want to loose any more people he was not going to let go without a struggle. He had to keep them safe he had to fight this time he was going to take control he could not lose that control if he lost that he could lose the people he cared about most and that's what filled his night mares losing them letting his friends and loved ones down having to stand by and see them die without being able to do anything about it. It's why he had called Clark to save Kara. it's why he had to help people as guardian. “ Dad don’t go you will get hurt please stay” he begged gripping his father's arm tightly and trying to pull him back into the house. He had tears at the edge of his eyes his tiny body doing the best it could to hold back the much larger man. His father turned towards him, the man's smile so much like James own he was the spitting image of his father. His dad simply rubbed the top of his head and bent down to give the young boy a hug he held on tight as if maybe if he squeezed hard enough it would be real and his father would stay away from someone else's war. But he got up and turned around with the large pack thrown over his shoulder he walked away into a blinding light and James knew he was not going to come back. He sat waiting on the porch looking into the light for what seemed like years but all that came back was a flag. James did not often suffer from night mares but when he did they stayed with him into the next day. He would see his friends and remember the horrors of his nightmare and he would cling just a little to them that day asking how they were feeling and making sure nothing happened to them. He would wake up at night in a cold sweat and he would immediately have to check and make sure everyone was ok he often ends up going on a late night patrol after those dreams trying to clear his head and it does not hurt that he gets to help some people in the process. Some days it was hard to keep going after the dreams but others he could soldier though he was strong he had to be he needed to be not just for himself but for others he knew Kara was worried about him she had noticed how tired he had looked last time they talked. He hated lying to her about anything but he would not burden her with this she already had enough weight to hold on her shoulders this was his burden and he was determined to work through it on his own. MAGGIE Maggie did not have night mares or so she claimed but the times alex would wake up to see her girlfriend tossing and turning in their bed mumbling and begging for something to stop she knew differently she knew Maggie would talk about it when she needed to but until then she would do what the could to calm her girlfriend. Most nights when the detective has nightmares they are of her family her father and his hate for her every doubt is thrown back into her face those nights she wonders if they would ever have loved her if they had known when she was born that she was lesbian. Would they have cared for her like they had would she have gotten the same loving care she had in her early years. Other nights she was terrified of losing alex of her past coming back and driving the best thing she had ever had away. That Alex would suddenly realize that she could do better and leave that the detective would not be enough to keep alex loving her. She had nightmares about being unwanted and unloved of not adding up to the expectations of those she cared for. She had nightmares of re-living the horrible abandonment of her youth the youth that had broken her heart again and again. When she woke up she would always pull Alex closer listening to her girlfriends heart beat trying to reassure herself that she would not lose her. After Alex’s abduction Maggie’s nightmares changed to those of having to watch helplessly as the woman she loved was hurt and tortured and drowned she eventually told Alex about those ones to which her girlfriend would alway comfort her trying to reassure her that she was there and she was real. Mg’ann After all the years she had thought that maybe the night mares would lessen but she was always mistaken when every night just like clockwork no matter how much meditation she did before going to sleep she would find herself trapped back on mars. She was face to face with a version of herself that made her sick to her stomach the version that could kill without thought or feeling the version that she was always scared she would become, just like every other white martian full of hate and bloodlust. She may have escaped mars and the torment her people inflicted on others but she was not able to escape the torment of her dreams. After meeting j’onn her dreams had shifted some nights she dreamt of the planet at peace both white and green martians living together in peace but those dreams soon changed morphing into a nightmare where soon she found the white martians slaughtering innocents as she tried to get them to safety. Even after trying to go back and change her people they would not go away the deep seated fear of her own kind left her scared and alone in the middle of the night. WINN He only had nightmares a few times a month but when he did he would close himself off to the rest of the world his friends became a bit more distant his smiles not as bright. His had been filled with the thought of how he could become the man his father was, how he had never seen the anger in his father. In his nightmares he became the villain standing by his father's side killing innocents simply for the fun of it and it scared him more than anything in the world. He was seeing the DEO therapist for it J’onn had recommended it and by that he meant that J’onn had taken him to the therapist and explained that the dreams were powerful enough that when he once had one at the DEO J’onn had been able to feel the effects of the dream himself. The sessions had helped with him dealing with the aftermath of the dreams. He had never told anyone else about them but whenever he had them J’onn always seemed to know and went a little bit easier on the computer nerd that day. J’ONN His nightmares hit late at night almost every other day he would wake from his sleep like state with the picture of his family flashing behind his eyelids. If he tried to go back to sleep those nights all that he could dream of was flames and screaming, those nights caused him to be more snappish during the day. He eventually would get back to sleep on those nights and would wake a few hours later in a foul mood. J’onn cept many of his emotions inside as he knew unlike his home planet here they would not be able to fully understand his pain and loss. Some days he would try and recreate an image of his family others he would just keep his chin up and work on he would soldier through the pain and loss he loved his family and he loves his new family just as much and he will be strong for them, for them he will fight through the nightmares and he will continue to work he will use his fear to motivate him he will turn fear and anger into strength to help his new world and his adoptive family.
