weird thing: in kh2, xigbar saying "as if" is intentionally dated—the game came out in 2005, and "as if" is 90's slang, popularized by the movie Clueless, which came out ten years prior to the game's release. hes a ~50 year old man (ignoring [gestures at his Whole Deal]) trying to sound like a teenager and failing, maybe on purpose. one of those people who misuses teen slang around teenagers specifically to watch the light fade from their eyes.

however. the years start comin and they dont stop comin. kh4 takes place only ~1-2 years after kh2; the timeline of the games is progressing much more slowly than the timeline of Real Life. xigbar will still be a 50 year old man (ignoring etc.) using 90s slang.

but soon. a 50 year old man using 90s slang will read less as him wanting to annoy teens, and more as him using slang that he would have used as a teenager in the 90s.

though hes also very much still doing it to annoy teens. thats a critical part of his character.

how much time do you have? and how much do you want to read? bc i deeply hate everything about totk (for many many reasons that cant just be dismissed as just 'not my taste' or similar, i dont hate many things, very few in fact, but this game deeply and personally hurt me and my passion- it essentially killed my hyperfixation in zelda)-

what i like would be much shorter; i like the sound the parasail makes when you use it in the rain, most music, you can have more horses, the underground is .. a neat idea (but badly executed), you can FINALLY touch the dragons (and in exchange they ruined them for me ...) and uhm ... master koga is there :3

(graphics and style is basically botws so that doesnt count though i still love that and .. the designs... mostly)

the short version; the writing sucks, the gameplay sucks, except for koga theres no character that is well written or enjoyable to me, the world design sucks, theres no connective tissue between botw (which isnt flawless by any means but i love it ..... or used to love it ..) and totk beyond it being called a sequel, pretty much every single one of botws flaws was doubled down on and i cannot believe how few people actually seem to realize this?? if you cared about anything botw and like thinking about things totk will stomp you with its hefty price tag bc it makes it clear it does not care and you are stupid for caring about anything, you should stop thinking and jsut take whatever they say no matter how little sense anything makes, every even mildly interesting idea is either never followed up on/expanded or is even actively contradicted in itself (which is soemthign this game is excellent at, constantly contradicting itself in every aspect but like .. like its unaware of it) it tries to do everything and thus commits to nothing, tries to please everyone and thus comes out saying nothing and meaning nothing and doing nothing, it loooooves to copy botw but gives it a different paintjob and makes it worse but presents it as better instead of actually adressing the issues botw had, ganondorf .... oh my dear ganondorf, you deserve to be in a better game *sniffs*, i have never before felt like im being made fun of by the game im playing, but now i have-

i agree with what you’ve been saying and while idk if this is exactly what you’re trying to get across in your posts i’ve always thought people in fandom that get so worked up over who tops and who bottoms would benefit from not trying to apply pseudo intellectualism to fictional characters and their fictional sex lives in terms of what positions/roles they would prefer and instead realize there’s no such thing as “evidence” for what a character would be like in bed. like not to say there’s NOT preconceived biases that affect who gets assigned what by fandoms but also i wish more people realized personality ≠ sexual preference and at the end of the day all our interpretations basically boil down to headcanons with no actual basis. me personally i like bottom eddie. because it’s sexy To Me. others like top eddie. because it’s sexy To Them. (and buck is also there i guess) i promise it really can be as simple as just that lmao

yeah i mean this is kind of what it comes down to although i recognize that finding it sexy isn’t necessarily the ONLY thing it’s just usually the thing. and people feel really defensive over that because there’s a lot of baggage tied up in this kind of discussion (which is why imo i also feel like it’s unproductive to wholesale be like why do we talk about this at all? well it comes up across fandoms without fail so obviously there’s something to talk about). but my point is kind of like, this is a completely insubstantial argument because at the end of the day, everything else aside, you are literally just talking about A Thing People Do With Their Bodies. and pretty much all of the things anyone tries to argue around that are going to be caught up in all kinds of rigid ideas about how sex works or what it means to have sex in this way or that way or that doing this makes you that and so on and so forth, and therefore it will pretty much always be harmful—especially given that the vast majority of the time the reason people start talking about gender studies or whatever is because they see that kind of theory as unassailable—while on the other hand like. you are free to just say you just think it’s hot or you like X aspect of it or you just don’t like the other thing, you just won’t have the higher ground that way. idk it’s always funny to me to see the kinds of rules people set up in their heads. like for example im always getting asks that are like um you like top eddie? but he deserves to have prostate orgasms! .. ok? why can’t he? you like top eddie? but he should be taken care of! .. ok? what’s stopping him? like my point is just that i think it is really evident what kinds of ideas people have around certain sex roles in the bedroom and the way they talk about or against those ideas is frequently really really really weird, much weirder if they just said they like what they like

I dont think Mob is naive as much as he's socially unaware, like the reason why he trusts Reigen so blindly is a bit more complex than just him being naive

Cause Mob reached out to Reigen because he was desperate to find someone like him, someone who understood his psychic specific issues, someone that could truly know what he's feeling and going through and give him guidance and support

Post incident Mob's thinking process was something along the lines of my powers hurt people -> my powers are bad -> my powers (my emotions, my instincts, myself) cannot be trusted

So he lost all confidence and trust in his own actions, resigning to being as passive as possible to avoid any further damage to anyone else, thus he started doubting his own perception of reality too

He's a kid already struggling with being ostracised for being socially inept, who just got traumatised and all of his insecurity increased by the tenfold, he doesn't know how to process what he's going through. He needs help.

And here comes Reigen, seemingly reliable, a responsible adult in a child's eyes, someone who claims he can understand him

Even tho Reigen doesnt. But it doesn't matter, because Mob finds comfort in his words and takes them to heart

Even if Reigen doesn't fully get it, even if he doesn't see the bigger picture, even if his advice isn't always the best

Eventually, Mob grows up, realises Reigen isn't as honest as he seemed through his 11 year old perspective, but like most things, he refuses to acknowledge it on a deeper level

Mob knows, but never tells Reigen, never thinks about what all those lies mean to him (ofc until he forces himself to face those doubts regarding Reigen, to properly acknowledge both of their flaws and accept them as they are, I should scream into the void about Confession Arc more God)

Due to his lack of trust in himself, Mob has relied on Reigen for years now to shape his moral compass, his thoughts, his decisions

Because well, Reigen lies, sure, but he isnt a bad person. When he hurts Mob, it isn't intentional or with ill intent, he still wants the best for him, what's the issue?

Except that it stunts Mob's growth. He doesn't develop as a person, doesn't have goals or wishes or ambitions, can't make choices on his own, he doesn't even let himself acknowledge his own emotions, he refuses to let himself exist

But Mob realises in time that he wants more than that, he wants to become better and be independent and feel again

Still, he puts the acknowledgement of the lies on hold for as long as he can, unwilling to question the way things are

This can make him feel a little naive, he constantly relies on Reigen and trusts his decisions and raises questions rarely until separation arc when he finally puts his foot down

And I do think that moment is the most resounding proof we have that Mob knows and allows himself to be used by Reigen, not wanting to shake the status quo, until he gets fed up

I mentioned the social ineptitude at the beggining but idk if I should even elaborate on that, you've watched the show, you know what I mean

He's blunt and can't read social cues or tonality that well and can't speak in front of crowds and is overall pretty awkward and I do think some people conflate that with naivety

Mob is still a child, he doesnt fully understand how the world works at the ripe age of 14 years old, but some folks take that as him being inherently naive/innocent/whatever which I don't find true

Delm (left) is Death and Brody (right) is War. Since they can (along with Pestilence and Famine) inflict whatever status on a person, Delm is terrified of accidentally killing someone pre-apocalypse. And so he's basically a pacifist that can never say the right thing and gets beaten up and refuses to fight back. Brody tries to be his bodyguard of sorts but Delm is slippery and just vanishes and shows up freshly injured with a smile cause "well, I mean I can't /die/, dude. what's the problem?"

im just thinking abt like. sam (almost) never hits back. only under extreme duress. and i really can't imagine him lashing out at partners either, maybe yelling but never physical. and trying to understand why, like does he actually think he's better than dean by not punching? does he seek therapy at stanford? does he just think he deserves it and feels like he's at the bottom of the totem pole everywhere he goes?

literally makes me feel sick. idk i have a Thing for a teenage sam who is like totally opposed to violence (despite being forced on hunts and into sparring and training and loading guns all the time). there’s that throwaway joke about his idol being gandhi and there’s the fact that obviously sam doesnt Want any of this, this being Hunting and the constant violence that comes with, so i can just see this thing developing where for a brief period hes like sooo holier than thou about it i am better than you and dad cause i read books and i dont solve my problems by hitting things (which tbh he is so right about! <3) but obviously its just his way of coping with the violence that hes been entrenched in since he was six months old. and this is like literally just inside my head. but in my head its true. that was kind of unrelated actually but also not really

and so yeah i think. idk. violence is sooo normal to sam and dean. i think sam doesnt Want to hit back cause its counterproductive and unnecessary and he prefers to talk things through, like that’s just not how he deals with things, what use is hitting back going to do? like then they’d just get into a physical fight. which i dont think he wants. but also 100% even if not consciously i think sam believes he deserves it or at least that its Okay when it happens to him. he literally doesnt even question it. especially like… after s4. i think he tends to just accept deans treatment cause hes got this belief deep down that he’ll always deserve it, and also even if dean isn’t always right he always somehow ends up being right, and….. so awful.

also i do actually think sam went to therapy at stanford but thats just cause i find it fun to think about. like what did he say…. how do you even word the trauma of that upbringing. not sure if he actually took any valuable lessons from it or benefitted from it post short-term.
