I am surprised Inemuri is able to talk crap about his boss. We've seen how members of the pirates get when someone talks trash about the heads. I guess it's an indication of Orochi's character, and even some of his subordinates thinks he's awful.

I thought exactly the same thing when he was introduced (his character design is really cool, by the way).I wonder if he’s actually on the Kozuki Family’s side…By the way, I just found out what Inemuri Kyoshiro’s name may refer to. You can read more about “inemuri” here.Of course, Oda had to make him a narcoleptic like Ace!  XD

SBS 92: Luffytaro and Monjiro

Bunta Sugawara played the role of Monjiro in 1972 series version.

Monjiro is usually really cool serious loner, is a yakuza and vagabond of sorts helping people in need coz he feels like it when people seem annoying to him, not coz he wanted to help them or something. 

The SBS question starts with his catchphrase: - “Asshi ni wa kakawari no nei koto de gozansu” meaning simply, ”Doesn’t concern me”. 

One of the main film stories was about how Monjiro went to prison in exchange for his friend who killed someone. The said friend wanted to spend time with his dying mother and promised to confess to the crime and get Monjiro out of prison once his mother dies. Monjiro gets word his friend betrayed him and vows revenge and plots his escape from prison. There were many stories in the series and it was similar to Zatoichi.

There is an old movie production called ‘Kogarashi Monjiro’; the original work was a novel. He(Monjiro) always held a long skewer/toothpick in his mouth. The way it was used as a blowdart was cool. That being the case it is dangerous so please do not try this! Ah, talking of Jidaigeki stuff “Inemuri Kyoshiro” (or our Oiran-slaying Yakuza boss Dozing Kyoshiro) is based on “Nemuri Kyoshiro” which was also a novel. 

(Interestingly, Nemuri Kyoshiro was also made a 1972-73 Toei TV drama. There were other versions too but Ichikawa Raizo was the most famous Nemuri Kyoshiro.
