people have brought up the difference between "this piece of media is good" vs "i like this piece of media". i would also like to mention the third axis "i would easily recommend this piece of media to others"

Ok um. The your mom joke valentine actually unlocked something in me and, upon remembering Sans' similar joke and physics books, I suddenly put two and two together that wait a minute... if the reflection/mirrors motif is true... and the nested fiction theme is true... Wikipedia can you show me something real quick
“mise en abyme, literally “placement in abyss,” is a formal technique of placing a copy of an image within itself, often in a way that suggests an infinitely recurring sequence. In film theory and literary theory, it refers to the technique of inserting a story within a story.”
“A common sense of the phrase is the visual experience of standing between two mirrors, seeing as a result an infinite reproduction of one’s image.”

actually you know what, im still not over infinity war and endgame systematically undoing all of the plot progression and character development in thor ragnarok, a movie that many people presumably worked very hard on and managed to successfully push its characters in new and interesting directions, none of which matters now because, again, the fucking russo brothers and whoever the fuck else was involved decided their vision was more important than the work of others

[ID: two flags, both having three curved outer stripes and a semicircle in the bottom centre of the flag. the sections on the first flag go gold, gray-tan, green, and dark brown. the sections on the second flag go dark purple, red, muted red, and dark brown. end IDs]
Fiesterypt and Guiltrypt
[PT: Fiesterypt and guiltrypt. end PT]
Fiesterypt: a chokebt (chokrypt gender) that's related to financial stress
Guiltrypt: a chokebt that's related to heavy, maybe endless guilt, guilt that's been repressed but yet still affects you
these are both for day 1 of our coining event, for the prompt Chokrypt!!

day 1 of @deadboystims' 300 followers event: make a stimboard based off of your queer identities! so here's one of them: autiagender! i love this term because (for me) it is a very useful shorthand to explain how autism makes me feel disconnected from gender

one problem with getting into Fiction Franchises like, oh let's say the MCU, long after they started is that 1) there are things that refer back to things I don't know about and 2) i don't know what i don't know about, and in a way that latter is more of a problem at least for me.
i managed an episode of wandavision and was left thinking "this seems like it's good, but i have no clue what's going on here so it's not going to work for me is it?" and i am reliably told it's supposed to be Mysterious Mindfuckery but i, a noob, was unable to work out without external clarification what i wasn't supposed to know. if you see what i mean.
i notice the mcu movies (at least as it progresses?) don't have numbers on them, and we know when they're direct sequels because there's a subtitle. and if you come at these later you need to get a chart to work out whether you should watch thor: ragnarok before or after thor: the dark world. which is easily done if i am determined to get things in the right order, but any effort is too much for someone.
so while i am willing to consider the idea that the later mcu films/shows are just Less Good than the early ones (personally Doubt so far but I'm not opposed to the idea) it's very easy inside a fandom to lose sight of what your thing looks like to the casuals who make up most of an audience, and frankly the mcu is currently Very Large and confusing.
who are all these Mrs/Captain/Miss/etc Marvel ladies and which of them have already been in films I might or might not have seen? how many ant men are there prior to this one? am i supposed to know who the baddy in this or that film is? which of these side-characters are from something else?
doesn't-seem-related-but-it-is: i was surprised to discover that the general mcu fandom view of the loki series was not that it was some sort of AU situation that could be thought of an entirely separate from the main series of films. because that was pretty much why it was the one to hook me, i think - it explained the relevant backstory with clips and yet also this is a different loki so if i don't want to go and watch however many films he was in i don't have to. i would expect him to be to some extent "out of character" because it carefully explained to me that this is not really the same character as that identical guy with the same name who was in some number of films. there's a woman one and an alligator one but don't worry they're all from AUs anyway.

Hii!
I hope u enjoyed the gp!!
I was just wondering, in kttl what the Ferrari driver lineup is?
Ik Sainz is one and that charles is beefing w him as seen in jeddah (I think jeddah?) where he tries to fuck him over through max, but could u elaborate on why?
(And also will max help him)
Hi!! I very much did, best time of my life and I’m saving up for COTA now so I can hopefully get out there in October!
The 2023 grid is largely unchanged in KTTL, except for the below teams:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of the Charles and Carlos beef is largely within Charles’ head and ties into his insecurities. Carlos is the one who took Seb’s seat once he retired. He and Charles don’t get along for various reasons, some of which tie into the whole being fired from Ferrari thing. But overall, it’s mainly Charles not feeling secure in his own abilities when he compares how Max is doing to Carlos. To him, Carlos represents what he lost. He doesn’t have Seb anymore, he doesn’t have Ferrari, but he has Carlos smiling smugly at him across the paddock and it hurts.
Max doesn’t necessarily know about the problems Charles has with Carlos, mainly because they’re not close enough for Charles to even discuss with Max why he was fired. But also because it’s not really a thing. Sure, Carlos is smug and overly-confident, but he hasn’t outright done anything to Charles specifically thus far that would warrant attention from Max.
Carlos smirking at Charles was really just that, a smirk from an old friend. It could have been a smile, it could have been nothing, but Charles is too much in his head at this point in the fic, which is why his relationship with Max is suffering. He’s too focused on beating Ferrari, beating Carlos, proving he’s more than the kid they kicked to the curb than he is really connecting with Max and focusing on the overall team at Red Bull.
Max will help him, but it will take Charles opening up some before they can even begin to get there.

Of An Endless Infinity: Remnants (III)
Summary: What does it mean to be the Ultimate Hope?
Is it only hope on the big scale?  That the world is not so dark and depressing and destructive as the villain in front of you says it is?  That you can win, even when everything else says that you can’t?  That maybe it is better to live your life, even afraid, than it is to keep yourself sequestered away, alone?
Does it not also mean hope on the small scale?
Or: Makoto sacrifices himself in the hope that the other survivors might be able to help Junko. It remains to be seen whether this will actually succeed.
Chapter Rating: T. Fic Rating: M for Danganronpa reasons.

Elsewhere….
“I knew ya’d come ta see me soon!”
His teeth are still filed into points.  He’s not the sort to eat people – that’s Teruteru’s specialty, something he makes explicit note of saying has more than one meaning – but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still bite them or shred their skin with his teeth if attacked.  Most people don’t get that close to him, though; he’s got more than enough machine guns fixated everywhere to kill them if—
Well.
He is the one who put the guns on top of the school in the first place, isn’t he?  The one who helped craft all of the mechanics in those executions her beloved put on during the show?
If your most qualified Future Foundation member couldn’t get to the school, then they couldn’t get to him either.
The only reason she and that hope-obsessed fool can get through is because she alerted him to their coming, using the same messenger he’d created for them all when her beloved first started this whole thing, when she’d first chosen to live undercover with her classmates rather than stay with her horrors.
She’d hidden, and he’d given them a way to keep in contact no matter where in the world they were: a small plush bear like Monokuma, designed after the first one her beloved created.  He’d modified that one, too, of course, after her beloved gave him permission to do it, but that one had gone dark after the last Trial.
Her beloved told them not to contact her during the Game.  She couldn’t afford any distractions.
She’d tried to contact her so many times since then, but there’s nothing.
No response.
She can only imagine what her beloved’s old classmates might be doing to her to prevent her from—
“We need your help, Kaz.”  She tugs on the chain wrapped around the fool’s neck, grins when he stumbles, when Kaz laughs, loud, at him.  It’s a form of appeasement, at least.  “We’re trying to get to her.”
Kaz’s once pink eyes darken, that sharp, sharp maroon a reflection of who he is now, the same that the once faded bruise of her own eyes now holds the tint of something redder, fresher.  “You saying ya want me ta shut off my guns?  I can’t do that.  She told me ta—”
“Now, now, Kaz,” the fool chides.  “She said no such thing.”
“Shut your mouth!”
Kaz jumps down from his pile of – it’s probably a bunch of half-finished projects, or completely finished ones that he’s still tinkering with, but mostly it looks like a throne of trash to her – and shoves his hands into his pockets as he stalks towards the fool.  “You’re trying to get to her, which means ya gotta go through my guns, which means you’re going ta get shot, which means you’re only here to get me ta shut ‘em off.  And she told me ta—”
She places a hand on his arm, and he stills.  “You’re so much smarter than that, Kaz,” she purrs.  “I’m sure you can think of some way to get us through without turning them off.  Can’t you?”  She leans in close, smells the putrid copper on his breath, and whispers, “If you do, I’ll tell Sonia you helped us.  You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
Sonia hasn’t talked to him since the Game began.  She’s complained about it with her.  Kaz kept trumpeting about how much he helped her beloved, as though it was about him instead of about her.  (She would have been just as frustrated as Sonia was, if she’d heard it from him, but she would have responded in a much more…physical way.)
Once, she told her beloved that maybe someone should tell him to stop pining for Sonia, as it obviously made both of them uncomfortable.  But her beloved said that his constant hope that something might happen was also a source of constant despair for him, that Sonia’s constant hope that he would stop was a constant source of despair for her.
It was only then that she understood.
This, too, is a gift.
One that Kaz gave to Sonia; one that she gave right back to him.
And yet Kaz still shivers at her words, which is how she knows that she has him.  He leans back, shoves a hand through his spiked pink hair, a brighter color than her beloved’s has ever been, and shoves his other hand deeper into his pocket.  “Well, I can get ya through the guns; that’s for sure.  But even if ya get through the guns, ya gotta get through the door, and I can’t do nothing about that thing.”
“You can’t?” she asks with a hum.  “Just imagine how proud Miss Sonia would be of you, if you helped us save—”
“I got an idea!”
Kaz grins, hands clenched into fists, his tongue stuck out in his excitement.  His eyes sparkle, gleam, bright as stars in the sky.  (Bright as they used to be, anyway.)  He leans forward, right into her face.  “I just got one question for ya.”
She raises a brow and tries not to recoil at his breath.  “What’s that, Kaz?”
“How much of a ruckus we causing here?”

infinity train genuinely is my favorite tv show of all time (maybe tied w/ steven universe) and KNOWING what their plans were for seasons five through eight. Unimagineable pain knowing i will never see it. i would literally give anything to have it made especially for the season eight concept </3 but it also inspires me to make my own weird fucked up art with convoluted worldbuilding
