I was going to read ICON today! People saying it has some inspiration from 4e, and 4e always having a place in my heart wanted me to check it out. Then i learned more about who was involved and everything and it just sounds innnncredible.

It’s great! I’ll admit I only have secondhand experience with 4e but I’ve always been curious to check it out, but from what I’ve heard I can see the resemblance. And it’s odd, I last checked out Icon…. A long time ago? Not sure how long but it’s almost unrecognizable now compared to what it was so it had to have been early, but I’ve been jonesing for some not-D&D fantasy ttrpgs with a bit of crunch and it’s really hitting the spot right now.

It helps that the art absolutely blows me away every time.

my favorite lyric: all of ode to divorce but i really love "i'm inside your mouth now, behind your tonsils, creeping over your molars" it's endearing and also kind of funny uncomfortable and even a little gross. also every read from poor little rich boy, "you're reading fitzgerald, you're reading hemingway, they're both super smart and you're king of the cafe"

my favorite song: impossible question. us is so gorgeous but i do have a special place in my heart for ode to divorce. one of the first songs i fell in love with when i interned at a college radio station in high school.

the song that makes me cry: us. always. i could cry about it right now. up there with samson in regina tearjerkers albeit in a different way

the song that’s a fucking bop: your honor for SURE and poor little rich boy, i always liked it but when i saw her perform it last summer it was innnncredible

the song i most dislike/least love: flowers doesn't do it for me, the one thing i don't vibe with regina is how her songs sometimes just don't have enough structure. somedays is also like. fine but not special

Obi-Wan truly is a Jedi in that he’s like, “Okay, I’m not going to murder these creatures.  They’re starving to death.  They’ve basically been unleashed against these people as a weapon, but it’s not their fault.  They’re just doing what they do.  They’re just animals who want to eat.  So the idea - and I think there was an early talk about how, “Oh, yeah, he’ll go running through them and slicing and dicing ‘em and chop ‘em all up or whatever, and save his guys - ”  

And I’m like, “Yeah, but that’s not really the Jedi way.  He’s not going to just murder these creatures.”  So - and it’s like - I know the threat is - you know, to save one life you have to take one, but the idea of him being like - actually, why can’t Obi-Wan just be more clever?  He basically draws them in and then traps them.  You know what I mean?  

It says something about who the Jedi are.  They don’t just waste life arbitrarily.  And I think somebody could have gone, “Oh, yeah, but it would have been badass if he would have just ran in there with his lightsaber spinning and stabbed them all in the head,” and it’s like, yeah, I guess you’re right, he could do that, but he’s trying to teach his clones a lesson right then, about the sanctity of life.  

And that is the underlying theme of that entire episode, which is that a tactical droid is using the people as living shields.  Life means nothing to the Separatists.  The droids.  But life is everything to the Jedi.  And even though he doesn’t have to say that, it’s all through the episode thematically. (x)

multiple things can be true at once it turns out because ANY kind of mandated gender markers on ids are harmful and should be entirely abolished AND ALSO im still going to find it innnncredibly sus if anyone who is binary identified, MOST ESPECIALLY cis people but including other trans people, ONLY exclusively choose to point this out when nb people are allowed the option to get neutral markers but on previous occasions celebrate steps that allow more easily changing gender markers from one binary identifier to another.

anyways, i walked into class today and my gym teacher stood in the locker room doorway, yelled at us to go sit on the bleachers and just straight up disappeared. the other teachers too?? all of us are completely unattended in here and our only company is the rats and birds occupying the ceiling
