Mark: Hello, everyone! And welcome to the tenth and final episode of Season 2 of the Limitless Podcast. Are you all excited?

Johnny: We know, we know, we're going to miss you all too, but we have a lot of stuff planned for season 3!

Mark: That's right! Holy shit, you should see out desks at home, it's a whole mess it's embarrassing but, good news, we already have all of season 3's topics picked out and outlined so it'll be like we never even left.

Johnny: Yup, we're also still working on trying to get season 1 back from the void, but it's taking a lot longer than we thought. Turns out that literally nowhere archives these things so we're a little dejected, but it's okay. A lot of season 3's topics are callbacks to season 1.

Mark: Yeah, it's mostly because nearly all the topics we covered have since been updated, and that's kinda true for this season too.

Johnny: Oh, hell, I didn't even think of it that way, you're right, Mark. The news segment of this episode is going to run by pretty quickly.

Mark: Alright! News segment speed run! First of all we are seeing a mass of reemergence of vigilantes all over the place, not just in our country! It seems that the new team-up of vigilantes has inspired both new and old names to join the fray once again. Just yesterday we saw Phantom return to London to stop what would have been the biggest museum heist in history!

Johnny: Yeah, but then he took the gem the original thieves wanted.

Mark: He literally outdid the doers! Like, at that rate I would've just let him take it too, not gonna lie.

Johnny: Nah, you're right, Phantom's "anti" heist was just so well done that so many people applauded it.

Mark: For real, it was trending on TikTok for a while and you know what? Deserved. It was so cool to hear him break it down.

Johnny: Speaking of TikTok, actually, it's kind of interesting how this new wave of vigilantism has really pushed some people into the social media stage. Like Radiohead, for example, has started using Instagram a lot more.

Mark: Do you think it's like a debate, though? Like the vigilantes who only do good deeds on camera versus the ones who have no social media presence?

Johnny: Oh, definitely. I'm sure that there's probably some tension among old versus new vigilantes too, or at least I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

Mark: I can see the whole 'Golden Age' before the ban and 'Silver Age' post-ban arguments too, I've already seen a couple on Twitter and some of the arguments get so heated.

Johnny: The whole fanbase surrounding certain vigilantes is interesting in and of itself, I don't really want to call it a cult following, but it's interesting how certain vigilantes become these icons.

Mark: I mean, iconism of anything is kinda... dangerous, right?

Johnny: Always. But in cases where it's done right, see Aegis, they can become certain symbols of hope that people look to.

Mark: Not to play that card, but Aegis had a pretty hard fall from grace too when they became the Blackguard.

Johnny: But that is a topic we delve into more in season 3! You all better pull up to that, I think I'd go crazy if I saw the new season having the same ratings as this one.

Mark: Dude I'm just going crazy period, I never would have expected this podcast to blow up at all but here we are, corrected.

Johnny: Absolute insanity. We are so grateful for you guys that I don't even know where to start!

Mark: Ditto, I know you all were expecting some crazy topic about vigilantes that we delve into but really this episode is for all of you! If you remember our Twitter post after last episode, we asked you all to send in your most pressing questions and we picked a couple to answer.

Johnny: Yes, yes, and real quick we are definitely going to talk vigilantes! We haven't forgotten our roots! But this is a celebration episode for all of us and especially for all of you! And with that said... Drum roll please, Mark!

Johnny: Hit us, Taro.

Shotaro: Okay! From user LandBeforetheTimes this is a question for both of you: Which episode from season 2 is your favorite and why?

Johnny: For me it was definitely the episode on Cypher and Cheshire, I've always been a huge fan of Cypher since the day they started being active and I'm still following their work.

Mark: Wait, wait, would you argue that Cypher spearheaded the vigilantes on social media movement?

Johnny: Ugh, the audacity! Cypher didn't just spearhead it, they perfected it.

Shotaro: Actually, if I may step in-

Johnny: You may.

Mark: Shoot.

Shotaro: I think I'd argue that Cypher isn't on social media at all. Sure, they hijack social media, they've even hijacked this podcast before-

Johnny: I think I cried tears of joy that day-

Mark: You did, there are clips of it floating around.

Shotaro: But Cypher isn't following the usual MO of social media vigilantes. They don't "consistently" upload, for one, and for two Cypher has never revealed even a silhouette of who they are. There's absolutely no presence that they even exist.

Johnny: The perfect status for a hacker, in my opinion.

Shotaro: Exactly. But what about you Mark, favorite episode?

Mark: Oh, the Aces! I've always been a huge fan of them since they were an underdog team.

Johnny: Damn, that's right! I completely forgot they weren't that big when they started.

Mark: Yeah, they were easily outshone by the other already existing groups. I think it was their showdown with Alis that really solidified them on the playing field.

Johnny: Or should you say... playing table? [Laughs]

Mark: Oh, ha ha, very funny, I see what you did there.

Johnny: Wait but how did you feel about them disbanding? Just curious, I don't think we ever talked about it.

Mark: Heartbroken, obviously. But to be exact about it they never really disbanded, they kind of just... uh... fell apart, I guess. After what happened to Hearts and Diamonds I get why though.

Johnny: I think that was really one of the first actual "tragedies" that happened to vigilantes, I think things got a little more real after Diamonds passed away.

Mark: Yeah, exactly. A lot of vigilantes I think dropped out of the business once the details got released. I know Zero, Superhuman, and Sogdo for sure announced that they were done.

Johnny: Whoa, I haven't heard those names in a while! Actually, on the topic of Superhuman and Sogdo, I know next season we're going to talk a lot about vigilantes like them.

Mark: Oh yeah! Honestly, I know I shouldn't say it but it's kind of cool how certain people will take what would have been an unfortunate accident and turned it into a way to help out those in need.

Johnny: That's what I was thinking. The sudden emergence of vigilantes with, like, actual "superpowers" is another growing movement that I heard is pretty loaded in online communities.

Mark: Right, the whole "who does it better" argument, I feel like that's never going to go away though.

Johnny: Very true, but, let's try to get more questions in for today's episode. Shotaro, fire away!

Shotaro: Yessir! So up next is from Twitter user TheGrimDoggo! They ask: "If you could interview any of the season 2 vigilantes without any consequence, who would it be and why?"

Mark: Easy! I would... wait, actually? Let me think about that.

Johnny: I thought you said you liked the Aces!

Mark: I do! I do, but you know what they say, "Never meet your heroes."

Johnny: I mean from what I heard if you're innocent the Aces were very careful around you

Mark: Yeah, but then you hear about what happened to the people they beat the shit out of and you're like "damn."

Johnny: Damn? Damn? [Laughs]

Shotaro: [Also Laughing]

Mark: What? [Laughs]

Johnny: Dude, haven't you seen that one documentary about people who were beaten up by vigilantes? The dude who Diamonds punched has a permanently shifted jaw, that's like... horrible.

Mark: Oh... damn.

Johnny: [Laughing] Dude!

Mark: Sorry, sorry, that was insensitive I know, let's just do the last question, yeah?

Johnny: Last...? Oh, shit, we've been going on for a while now, huh? Okay, Taro, hit us!

Shotaro: Sure, so this last one is from the Twitter user GlitchedMask and says "hi! i've been a huge fan of the LP since it was still just a Twitter account! anyway for my question, hypothetically, if you could get it back, where would you like to have season 1?"

Mark: Whoa, they're like a super OG fan of ours then!

Johnny: For those of you who don't know, for the longest time the Limitless Podcast was actually just a blog on Twitter, and back then we were just called 'Limitless.'

Mark: Yeah, even the first episode of the podcast was supposed to be just that. One of the vigilantes we wanted to cover had so much going on with them that we found it easier to just, like, talk about it.

Johnny: Exactly. And then it kind of stuck, a lot of our followers loved the idea so we kept doing it and, badaboom badabang, the Limitless Podcast was born!

Mark: And we are so glad you all love it! But to answer the question, obviously, we'd like to have it on all our platforms, ya know? Patreon, Spotify, Podcasts, and etc.

Johnny: Yup, it would be nice to have it back, but we know it's been, like, permanently removed. That's on us though for not backing up our data.

Mark: Still sucks, though.

THE LUCID, the four-piece hard rock band featuring bassist David Ellefson (ex-MEGADETH),vocalist Vinnie Dombroski (SPONGE),guitarist Drew Fortier and drummer Mike Heller (RAVEN, FEAR FACTORY),will apparently release a new song early next month. On Tuesday (December 20),THE LUCID shared an Instagram graphic of the group's logo along with the date of "1.3.2023" and captioned it: "#comingsoon". Ellefson confirmed earlier in the year that THE LUCID was working on new material as a follow-up to THE LUCID's self-titled debut album, which was released in October 2021 via SpoilerHead Records. "The Lucid" was produced by Heller and mixed/mastered by Lasse Lammert. Ellefson previously stated about the LP: "It's been a real blast making a record with these guys and I must say that it's refreshing to explore some new musical avenues… to step out a bit from what each of us have done stylistically in our own careers. There was an effortless synergy that came with creating these songs together which is always amazing when working with new people." During a November 2020 appearance on "The Chuck Schute Podcast", Ellefson stated about how he got involved with THE LUCID: "Drew sent me a track and said, 'Hey, can you throw a bass on here?' And I was writing a new ELLEFSON solo record at the time, so my studio ears were on. I was plugged in and ready to go. He sent it over and I was, like, 'Yeah, this is freaking cool, man.' I'd seen Drew play, I know his BANG TANGO history and the other stuff he's done. But this was really cool stuff that spoke to me. And then he called me up and he said, 'Hey, Vinnie is gonna come in and write some vocals and lyrics and lay down some tracks.' And it turned into a thing." "I love [Vinnie]. I love SPONGE," David continued. "He's such a rock star. He's just a cool guy. And he writes such great lyrics — very trippy lyrics. He's the type of lyricist I'd never worked with before, so it's fun with that. And Drew is a great guitar player. Mike Heller — he's good friends with [MEGADETH drummer] Dirk Verbeuren. And Dirk's, like, 'Mike's awesome.' They're good friends. We all met in L.A. We got the songs together and we all met in L.A. in mid-July [2020]. I plugged in and banged out 10 songs in two days. And it was fun. Mike was very good in the studio; he really knows his way around." As for THE LUCID's musical direction, Ellefson told VWMusic: "It's definitely a rock album. It may trend slightly into metal with songs like 'Damned' and 'Deaths Of Despair'. It’s not a thrash metal record. It's not a doom or a power metal record or any of that kind of stuff. I just think it's just a straight-up hard rock record." Fortier was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May and subsequently underwent surgery. Ellefson was fired from MEGADETH in May 2021 after sexually tinged messages and explicit video footage involving the bassist were posted on Twitter. David was in MEGADETH from the band's inception in 1983 to 2002, and again from 2010 until his latest exit. People Magazine released the rest of their interview with Liam from last week: he talks a lot about Maya (and calls her his SPOUSE) and Bear ("I am very frightened about the idea of him entering the world that I'm in”). But the new and exciting thing is that he has something we haven't heard before to say about his music plans for the next year! He says "I'm hoping to write some songs and rewrite my story a little bit, because I don't think that I got it right yet. The music I've been making has been a lot of fun for people, but they're momentary songs, they're not songs that made you think deeper thoughts about someone you really care about. I've really evaluated a lot about myself this year and I think I'm going to take a bit of a different path into 2021." Last year he said, “I want to make a really amazing album that’s not, like, important… I just want to make people move, if that makes sense?” and then he did make that kind of music for a while, and previously he'd said that writing songs for 1D came easily to him, he “just knew how to make it” but that it wouldn't be what he'd choose sound-wise so this will really be the first time he'll be sitting down to both write from the heart and be able to explore his own sound, and we can look forward to something completely new in the world! Good stuff!

Anne Twist put up a selfie of her in the Italian Golden merch, I’m very glad that she got it before they sold out and I hope that she got lucky and it came with a Louis bucket hat! A lot of merch seems to be getting confused these days, with more people getting Harry boxed sets that didn't order them (or order from Harry at all), among other mixups-- if they're trying to get us to buy more I admit, it's motivating. She wasn’t the only one with fashion input today: Lizzo put two new pictures of H on her Instagram story as a part of a “New Years challenge”, Harry Lambert tells us that in his Professional Opinion the JW Anderson Cardigan and the Golden pants should win this round of the Fashion Archive’s competition, and even Fox News can't keep out of the discourse, they stuck Harry on their “Naughty List of 2020” (that’s not the official name but uh fuck them that’s what I’m calling it) for his fashion choices! Apparently, they didn’t like the Vogue dress. Twitter said nahhh fuck that and trended “#foxnewsjacksofftoharrystyles”, which you know what, that feels organic: are they pissed at him bc they’re attracted to him in the dress? Well, get in line, they have a LOT of solo stans to fight!

Niall will be on the Morning Mash Up tomorrow, and we got a little clip of it today, with Niall talking about when he (FINALLY) met Ashe in person. “We had a great laugh,” he says, “we got very drunk!” He also talks about how he doesn’t like to collab with people he hasn’t met, because he thinks it comes through in the song. Your greeting from the video earlier was new. You said “This is GOT7’s JAY B and H1GHR MUSIC’s JAY B.” After GOT7 parted ways with JYP Entertainment, you told fans that you were a freelancer and I guess you’ve found your spot.

Yes. It has not been announced officially yet but I’m H1GHR MUSIC’s JAY B. I told fans I was a freelancer as a joke. I like communicating with fans as if we’re friends. But I was looking for a company at that time too.

How did you make your decision?

Of course I thought about it a lot. I talked with various companies, but when considering the freedom and synergy, I felt like H1GHR MUSIC fit me well. That seemed like the best decision.

What kind of synergy and effect are you looking forward to?

I don’t think “I’m definitely hip-hop!” just because I joined a hip-hop label. I think that through the label I can show R&B, dance and pop genres too. I want to attempt different things without any boundaries.

What did you talk about with H1GHR MUSIC’s CEO Jay Park?

From my point of view, it’s a new challenge so I was a little anxious. But Jay Bum hyung’s thoughts were similar to mine and said I could do music comfortably and didn’t wish for any certain colour, because if you keep focusing on one thing, you’ll slowly be locked in it, and said it’s good to try out different things. That’s what he told me.

Will this period of time divide JAY B of the past and future?

Of course it will. If previously it was a situation where I mainly received benefits from the company, now that I have the autonomy, I feel that I should do things myself and I grew a deeper sense of responsibility in that way. I think there’s a need to be more proactive. And I plan on prudently moving forward one step at a time with an appropriate amount of nervousness. Because this is the process of starting from the beginning, I am very careful about every decision.

What factors influenced your decision the most?

Feeling/intuition. I have a feeling of whether I think I should do something or not.

It feels like you have a pretty good sense of the direction you want to move forward in.

I asked Jay Bum hyung why he recruited me and he said that skills were of course a factor but that I seemed like I would work hard consistently. It’s a given to be working hard on your own things but the most important thing is consistency. I've been doing that for a long time, and I'll continue to do what I've been doing.

Do you have any values that you’ve held on for a long time?

I’ve always thought that it’s important to never forget the things that I’ve done and have been doing. I debuted as GOT7. I cannot just suddenly say “I’m not an idol,” and I do not want to disappoint the fans. I’m very thankful. While promoting as part of GOT7, I never forgot the fact that I started as a b-boy at first and that I’m a person who likes hip-hop.

People’s expectations are high because of GOT7’s achievements. On one hand, there must be people viewing you thinking ‘let's see how well it could go.’

I am mindful of that. But it’s just GOT7 JB that was that big, JAY B as an individual isn’t that great. To be honest, sometimes I think that I’m nothing. If you ask people my age which idols they know, even if many people know about GOT7, they might not know me very well. It’s important to be acknowledged for my music but I feel like I have to get my name out there first. There is someone called GOT7’s JAY B, H1GHR MUSIC’s JAY B. I feel like this is just the beginning for me.

It sounds like you are at a point where you feel the need to prove yourself. Do you not worry that fans might not be accepting if you do what you like and want to do?

Rather than being worried, I see it as something that could happen. For example, I could use profanity or harsh expressions if I feel that they’re needed for better musical completion. I can’t help it if some fans who used to like me as an idol hear that and turn their backs. I also don’t want to give up or lose my own standards because of such reactions.

I see you're very determined to make creations of your own. I heard that you're going to release a new song soon. How is it?

The title is Switch It Up. Should I say it’s close to Hip-Hop Dance? It’s a different style from what I have been making consistently under the name Def. You could say it is a little similar to the solo songs I’ve included in GOT7 albums before. I focused on the purpose of informing the public and the music scene that “I think I will do this sort of music in the future." I’m also sending a message to fans saying that I’ll be starting to promote actively again so look forward to it.

I'm curious. Is there any image that came to mind while working on it?

A sexy image. If I use Def. to freely express my personal stories in any genre, I made a distinction that JAY B does cool and sexy music. Regardless, they are both me, but JAY B is more like a fictional character who can show various sides of me.

What do you think are your strengths as an artist?

There is no such thing. I never thought that an artist should be a certain type of way. I think an artist is one who lives the same life as others, but feels differently, and knows how to express that well. As a matter of fact, anyone can do that. Even everyday office workers, when their stress piles and piles and they scribble down their emotions then toss the paper out, I think that can be a way of art too.

I like that. In any form, what do you want to talk about the most now?

That’s what I’m contemplating a lot right now. I think I’ve been pouring out too much. When writing songs, making the melody or arranging the music isn’t that hard but I don’t know what to write about. The same goes for coming up with titles too. No matter how hard I try to come up with an idea, I can’t think of one. I just think, “ I guess it'll just come out gradually.”

Not as JAY B but as Lim Jaebeom, what have you been thinking about or trying to do?

I try to think positively.

Ah not long ago, we saw you posted on your Instagram “Let’s try to think positively.”

I had quite a lot of worries and a negative mindset. A lot of people may live with unnecessary worries but I’m a little worse. I guess it’s my nature. So I try my best to relax my heart/mind and say “it’s good,” “everything will be okay.”

In introspection, what is something that you are most satisfied with?

That’s hard. No matter how hard I think about it, I feel like there's nothing I like about myself at the moment.

Why? Did something change?

No, it’s not that. Even with one thing, one day you could like it and another day you could dislike it. It’s natural to change your mind. So when I speak, I often use the terms “always” and “at the moment.” Anyways, it’s not that I think that my current self is completely bad, but I’m not satisfied to the point where I would go “wow.”

Then, among the various images that you embody, which do you feel is the piece of clothing that fits perfectly?

I think naturally, the clothing of the name Lim Jaebeom is the most natural and comfortable. Because I’ve got a good hold of the side that is most like me, there can exist Def., JAY B of GOT7 and JAY B of H1GHR MUSIC. Oh, I could explain it like this. If Lim Jaebeom is the earth, just as there exists oceans, mountains, and cities within it, there are various sides of myself that are making up my life.

What will happen to GOT7 in the future?

We probably will not be able to promote as actively as before, but the members and I are trying our best to do anything. I often look up and watch videos of when we were promoting and I miss the GOT7 from those days. The overflowing passion and energy as well. Looking back, it was really fun. It's similar to the feeling of reminiscing about school days.

What did you gain personally from the past 7 years promoting as GOT7?

Should I say, I think I’ve gained expertise? People around me say I’ve become much more relaxed now. But I still get nervous. I was nervous even before today’s shoot. But in turn, I’ve gained ways to overcome the nerves. I guess that comes to show that I’ve become experienced

What kind of person does Lim Jaebeom want to be?

I wish I could be endlessly kind and do only good things, but in reality, that’s impossible. As you live you could unintentionally make mistakes and cause disappointment. Nevertheless, I definitely do not want to become a shrewd person, I despise being scheming and fooling people. I don’t want to be that kind of person and neither do I want to be on the receiving end. But it’s still a bit of a mystery if it’s okay to say "I'm going to be this kind of person." Because as I mentioned before, my current feelings and thoughts change frequently just as trends do.

I guess those words right there can change too.

That’s right. That's why I'm cautious about doing interviews. If I talk about something, there will be articles pouring out that say JAY B said this and JAY B said that. Although we’re doing an interview today like this, if I was asked the same question tomorrow, I could have a different response.

How should we wrap up this interview for you to sleep soundly?

This was the story of Lim Jaebeom on May 4th, 2021. I think this will be okay.

disorganized rini thoughts:

I totally see them as a Marshall/Lily from HIMYM thing where they're obviously endgame in my mind, they just have a lot of learning to do first obviously. the future i headcanon for them (based on season 2) goes thusly:

2021: nini takes jamie's advice and starts a youtube channel. nini's first song on there goes semi viral. it's about reconnecting with oneself and gaining back inner strength. even though it's not about him per se, ricky takes this advice and starts taking baby steps to healing his relationship with his parents, and goes to therapy.

2022: after confronting some of his demons and seeking help, life generally looks to be up and up for ricky. he remembers the one time when someone commented on nini's instagram that they were helped by her music and decides to be (actually) supportive this time with no expectations of anything. He also dabbles more in songwriting, and their first collab drops on Thanksgiving break. He gifts her a song off-camera for reaching 500k subscribers. For the first time in a year they actually think they might be ready, but they know better than to do something half-baked and so they wait.

nini crosses 100M views by August 2024; ricky "no marketable skills" bowen is her informal PR and social media team that stays out of her spotlight. he also collabs and writes songs with her occasionally but prefers to be in the background. After working on themselves a lot more, they try LDR through different colleges. Though tough, they make it work this time. Instead of suffocating each other they soar. No more pedestals, no more gilded cages. Nini signs on with Jamie's record label.

Sometime in 2026, after two years of discussions, introspection, a brief mutually agreed-upon break from their relationship, and experiment, Ricky comes out to his girlfriend as bi. They attend their first Pride event together that year. Nini surpasses 20M subscribers. Fame when young is hard for many reasons but having read of accounts from others who have walked her path before, she has countermeasures in place, a support system ready for her, and weathers the storm with grace.

Sometime in early 2033, Nini uploads a single picture of her in a wedding suit modeled after Momma D's, captioned: "Just married!" The speculation sure goes wild for a few days, but Nini's still proud that the fixations on her personal life never out-trended her actual work. There are weirdos, sure, rumours from people who have nothing better to do, threats from scum of the earth targeting her and her loved ones, but all-in-all, she's proud of the impact her songs have had on lives everywhere. Her heart soars from all the stories that she makes possible, all the lives she's able to touch.

Salazar-Roberts-Bowen might be a bit silly and Nina Bowen might be a bit basic so they don't change names.

The proposal involved a tree house and necklaces. A discussion was had prior to it all and she beat him to the question by a day.

Ricky takes a teaching gig at East High and hates the papparazi, though he finds he has a certain charm in dealing with them. He discovers that loves touring with his wife when he can, as well.

They buy back Ricky's childhood home to put down roots and adopts a boy and a girl.

Ateez song 'Wave' played 2nd day in a row at Tokyo Olympics, ATINYs trend ‘WE'RE GONNA WIN'

The trending hashtag 'WE'RE GONNA WIN' are lyrics from Ateez's song 'Win,' which was also played after South Korea's win in the women's volleyball match.

The on-going Tokyo Olympics is already a much-talked about event. But it is also a big deal among K-pop fans. From artists performing at the Olympics in previous years to athletes being fans of K-pop artists, the Olympics is for everyone. In fact, several South Korean athletes have been given a shoutout by their favorite idols on social media. But ATINYs are the ones who have much to celebrate since Ateez, a fourth-gen group, got their much-deserved recognition at the Olympics. Previously, on July 28, ATINY Twitter was ablaze as they realised that at the Olympics matches, four of Ateez’s songs had been played. During the men’s volleyball games, the songs that had been played were - ‘Fireworks’, ‘Dreamers’, ‘Wonderland’ and ‘Wave’. Atinys even wondered if the DJ who was in charge was an ATINY himself since he had also used Ateez’s Japanese single ‘Dreamers' before on his Instagram Story. Ateez and the song had trended and charted everywhere and fans thought that would be it. But ATEEZ's tryst with the Olympics wasn't over.

For the second day in a row, the Tokyo Olympics has featured Ateez’s songs. On July 29 which happens to be day six of the games, ATINYs again had cause to celebrate. This time, during the women’s volleyball games, more songs were played from Ateez’s discography that had fans going crazy as they ended up trending ‘WE’RE GONNA WIN’ which is a line from Ateez’s song ‘Win’. It was the South Korea vs Dominican Republic’s match when the first Ateez song of the day was played. ‘Wave,’ which was played yesterday, was played today once again. Along with that, the energetic and pretty relatable song ‘Win’ was played twice when South Korea won the match. Additionally, the trap song ‘The Leaders’ was played. It should be noted that both ‘Win’ and ‘The Leaders’ are B-side songs but their fierceness and vibe is perfect for intense events like an Olympics match. News of this achievement quickly reach Ateez members. Several ATINYs alerted Hongjoong who was excited over the news. He couldn’t believe that not just one song, but several of their hits had been played. He also suggested that it would be fun if the DJ played the song ‘Celebrate’ when South Korea won a match. Many fans also claimed that it’s not just the DJs who are fans but athletes who specifically requested Ateez for their victory song.

‘Morale booster’

One fan tweeted, “Imagine playing for your country and hearing a songs about being THE LEADERS and WINning during the match Morale booster.” Another tweeted, “The most satisfying thing about ATEEZ's music at the Olympic games is that atiny didn't ask for it. It was just people liking their music and using it for hyping the event. What a memorable moment!” One fan tweeted, “At this rate we'll probably get the entire discography before the closing ceremony.” Another tweeted, “WIN PLAYING AS IT SHOULD. THE OLYMPICS PLAYLIST THIS YEAR IS FILLED WITH TASTE.”

Flying from LA to Australia involves crossing the international dateline, so they would have left the US on the 6th July local time and arrived in Sydney approx 15 hours later on the 8th July local time.

Calvin's new song Olé, written for John Newman, is released. There is speculation that it's a Hiddleswift song, written from Tom's perspective and containing lyrics implying that Taylor cheated on Calvin with Tom. However, sources also told multiple outlets that the song was written and recorded months earlier, and its supposed links to Hiddleswift were just for publicity. (x) (x)

Taylor Swift really is the creative brains behind Calvin Harris' monster hit "This is What You Came For," and their relationship fell apart because he disrespected her when the song was released ... this according to sources connected with Taylor.

It's a fascinating story. We've learned an early fan rumor about the song is true, but to a deeper extent than anyone suspected. During their relationship, Taylor wrote the song, sat down at a piano and did a demo into her iPhone. She sent it to Calvin, who loved it. They both went into a studio and did a full demo with Taylor on vocals and Calvin doing the beat.

They both knew the song would be a hit, but Taylor wrote it for Calvin and both agreed it was a bad idea to let the world know they collaborated as a couple ... it would overshadow the song.

So Taylor, who kept the publishing rights, used the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg on the credits.

The problem in the relationship came the day the song was released. Calvin appeared on Ryan Seacrest's radio show and Ryan asked, "Will you do a collaboration with your girlfriend?" Calvin responded, "You know we haven't even spoken about it. I can't see it happening though."

We're told Taylor was hurt and felt Calvin took it too far.

It was a quick downward spiral from that point. One source called it "the breaking point in the relationship." The Met Gala was several days later, when Taylor danced with Tom Hiddleston.

Tree confirms to People magazine that Taylor did write TIWYCF under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg. (x)

“Yeah, and you know just another way to play the victim,” Kim replies. She then brings the infamous VMAs moment from 2009 by saying, “It definitely got her a lot of attention the first time… I just don’t think he should be punished for it still to this day.”

Jul 17th - Kim posts an edited recording of Kanye and Taylor's phone call. In it, they discuss the 'I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex' line and Taylor says, 'Go with whatever line you think is better. It’s obviously very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it. That’s really nice.' However, nowhere in the Snapchat video does Kanye consult her about the line, 'I made that bitch famous,' which is the line Taylor insisted she had never approved. when: oct 2021 what: ben is convinced to get on social media, helps dex with a song, and makes some bold choices 👀 tw: self harm/scar mention, technically not Smut™️ but um...i’ll be honest it gets spicy

To call it a recording studio was a stretch. More accurately, it was the master bedroom in Dex's apartment, converted into a space full of his instruments and all of the things you'd need for a recording studio. And, based on how cozy and lived in it felt, it was definitely the place he spent most of his time. Presently, Dex sat in the cushy chair in front of the computer, spinning it in circles as he fiddled around with one of his guitars. "I still think you should get a Tiktok." He told Ben, for probably the third time, "At least an Instagram, if anything."

Ben watched Dex spin from his spot on the couch, his own guitar laying across his lap. He plucked at a string, then winced at how flat the note was. "That is the third time you said that today," he said with a smirk. He lifted the guitar into position and started tuning it. "I don't know what I'd do with one, though. Those TikToks you show me are funny. I'm not that funny. And I'm not doing those dances," he continued, chuckling. "You'll sooner kill me."

He couldn't help but laugh to himself at the image of Ben trying to do a Tiktok dance. "No, no. Absolutely not, I would never." Dex hummed something to himself, then played the tune out on the guitar, "Use it for music! Your band or something. Stuff can go like, crazy viral out of nowhere." He slowed the spinning in his chair until it came to an eventual stop. Resting an elbow on the arm on the chair, Dex propped his head up on his hand. He grinned at him, "Y'know, people always ask me: 'Who's that cute guy in your story? Who's that one singing?'" The shrug he made was coy, "I don't know, there's a legion of fangirls out there who seem pretty interested in what you can do."

Ben kept his focus on his guitar, but a smile was slowly spreading over his face. He strummed, nodded, then propped his chin up against the body of the instrument. "They're always asking you?" He raised an eyebrow, playful and challenging. Part of him wanted to ask what, if anything, Dex said in response. But he kept that question to himself and plucked another string. "Interesting... I guess it's nice to know there's people out there who think I'm cute." He smiled again. "What do you make on TikTok?"

"It's because you are cute." He said simply, strumming his guitar a bit as Ben continued. "I don't really post a whole lot. Mostly it's just me reacting to things, or if there's a trend I can actually do, or maybe like, playing around with some music or something? It's—" He shrugged, "People like looking into my life, I guess. Since I'm kinda more lowkey now. Mostly I just use it to watch things."

Suddenly the room felt a little too big; Ben wanted to be closer to Dex. "Shut up," he said, laughing. He slid along the couch a little and set his guitar aside, then propped his head up in his hands. "I see how it is. I should use it a bunch even though you just watch. If I make one will you be, like, my number one fan?"

Dex laughed and nodded, something about the question so stupidly charming that his heart did a stupid little flip in his chest. "Oh, absolutely. Who do you think I am?" He got up out of the chair and put the guitar back on its stand. Glancing back over his shoulder, he continued, "First follower, comment on all the videos, the whole thing."

He'd brought it upon himself, really. Dex answered exactly as Ben thought he would, but it still made his stomach churn and his heart skip a beat. He leaned back on his hands, trying to play it cool, but he sank into the cushion too much. So, he just laid back once again, smiling stupidly at the ceiling. "Okay. Alright, come here, help me set it up."

Dex had moved to the keyboard and was planning on fiddling around with it, but Ben's words stopped him. "Wait, for real?" The question was slightly surprised, now moving over to join him on the couch. He had to push Ben's legs aside so he could sit beside him, draping his arm over the back of the couch. Admittedly, he was sitting maybe a fraction too close than just a casual friend would. And admittedly, maybe that was on purpose. "You just gonna slouch there?" He grinned, looking down at him, "Where's your phone?" Ben stayed where he was until Dex joined him on the couch, returning the smile. Slowly, he lifted his hips so he could get his phone out from his back pocket, enter his passcode, and hold it out for his friend to take. Only then did he sit up; he noticed that Dex had positioned his arm in such a way that it would be placed over Ben's shoulders. He also noticed that they were rather close, once he was upright. He noticed, but didn't comment on any of it. "No promises on me using it a lot," he said, angling his head toward Dex, then away again. "But I'll at least be caught up on whatever my siblings talk about."

Dex watched him for half a second too long before noticing the phone was being handed over. "Hey, being up with the times is good enough." He did the work of downloading the app for him. Unfortunately, he had to move his arm from the back of the couch to do so. "Okay," Dex finally said after a moment of comfortable silence, typing away on the phone, "What do you want your username to be? Just your name?" He pondered, "Is Ben short for anything? Just in case it's taken."

"Oh, gods," Ben said quietly, pressing his eyes shut. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. Despite lowering his arm, Dex was still so close that they were just barely touching, and Ben's movement caused a new brush of contact. "Yeah..." He said reluctantly, laughing, feeling his face get a little warmer. "It's short for uh, Bentley."

"Bentley?" He smiled, the drawl in his voice stretching the vowels out a bit. Truthfully, he thought it was adorable. But, based on Ben's reaction, it seemed like he didn't. "To be fair, there are way worse car names out there. Your middle name could be like...Ford, or something. Which is the most country music redneck sounding bullshit I've ever heard." Dex smiled to himself as he typed into the phone, "Not that I would know. Oh—!" He held the phone out to Ben, showing him, "Lucky you, it looks like Ben is available. Unless you have a cooler idea."

It was as embarrassing as ever, but Dex’s reaction (and the way his name sounded in his mouth) eased Ben’s awkwardness considerably. He lowered his hand and gave a sheepish shrug. “Yeah, but. So many people think my name is two cars, it’s ridiculous.” He glanced to his phone and nodded. “Works for me,” he said, turning himself slightly so he could face Dex a little more. “But you’re right, at least I don’t have Ford as a middle name.” He pressed his leg into Dex’s for just a moment, then tilted it away once again. “Sounds horrible. I feel bad for whoever got stuck with that.“

"Yeah, his life really sucks." Dex laughed, finishing setting up the account, "His first name is even worse." He bumped his leg against Ben's in return, "Whoever thinks Dexter is a good name for a child has to be some sort of sadist." Passing the phone back over, he returned to draping his arm across the back of the couch,

"So, you can edit your profile however you want. Um, the home page there—" He leaned over Ben's shoulder a bit, motioning to the buttons on the screen, "Is where you watch all the videos." He continued to explain the basics of how the app worked, then realized when he was done just how close they were. If Ben turned to look at him just then, he could've kissed him. Instead, he gave a smug little smile, finally leaning back and settling into his previous position, "And you're already following me, so, you're good to go." He took his phone back when it was offered to him, and the first video he saw was— of course— Dex. That and the proximity was enough to get Ben a little too warm, and he unintentionally held his breath as he got his mini tutorial. "Cool," was all he was able to manage before Dex pulled back again. Part of him was sad for it, but— gods, he needed to get it together. He watched two videos but there were more important things beside him at the moment, so he locked his phone again and focused on Dex. "So how long do you think until they find me? My friends are already asking me questions about karaoke."

"Oh gods, really?" Dex laughed, "I mean, probably in a few days? If you post something? Could be tomorrow." As he rightfully assumed, he had been tagged in the karaoke video by the end of the night. Had he watched it and saved it the following morning? Maybe. But, other than that he didn't pay it much mind. Yet, somehow, he hadn't even thought of Ben's friends getting ahold of it. Curiosity got the best of him, "What did they say?" Ben tucked his leg under himself so he could turn toward Dex fully and prop his elbow up on the back cushion. "They demanded an explanation as to why a very handsome celebrity was serenading me," He said with a grin. "Which I said was rude, because I was singing, too. And they asked if anything else happened, but, I didn't want to brag."

It always came when he least expected it. They could just be talking and suddenly, Ben would say something so stupidly charming it got his tongue all twisted up in knots. Dex chuckled and tilted his head back, "That is rude," He rolled his head back over towards Ben, a pleased grin on his face. He was facing him now, and despite being the one who sat so close in the first place, the proximity made his heart flip, "It was definitely a mutual serenading situation going on."

Dex realized suddenly (and rather unfortunately), in that moment, he'd completely forgotten to even ask Ben about the literal reason he came over in the first place. His initial instinct told him to forget it. But, on the other hand, where was the fun in that? With a sigh, Dex sat up, "Shit. You know what? I literally just remembered I wanted your opinion on something." He pulled himself up off the couch, slowly, and stretched his arms over his head. Instead of sitting down at the computer, he leaned over, clicking through a few things to find what he wanted. Ben couldn't see the grin on his face as he did. "This one part doesn't feel right. Like, it's missing something, I need another pair of ears."

It wasn't like Ben had a one-track mind about today. He was happy to talk music, or whatever else. Dex was just distracting, and it was hard to focus when they were sitting side by side, and he could have sworn that their heads were drifting closer and closer. But instead, the moment was broken and Dex was moving away from him. Ben had to admit he was a little disappointed, but it was clear that he was being teased, so he took it in stride. "Okay," he said on a small sigh, letting his head fall back. He closed his eyes, waiting for the song to start. "Lay it on me."

"Okay, so it's like, the bridge I'm not happy with." He clarified as he tapped the space bar, letting the song play from the speakers. Already, his mind was drifting away from Ben and to all the little tweaks he wanted to make. He patted his pockets, unsuccessfully finding a pen, and grabbed another one nearby, scribbling his ideas on a sticky note as the song continued. When it was finished he straightened up, cap of the pen being held between his teeth. He spoke around it, "It sounds off, right?"

"Hmm." Ben didn't want to say it sounded off, but he did see what Dex meant. As the song had played, he let his thoughts walk back and just focused on the music. Now he was silent for a few seconds while he considered what to say. "I like the song," he eventually said, peeking an eye open and giving Dex a smile. "How'd the bridge go... It was like..." While he spoke he picked up his guitar and started plucking at the strings. It took just a few seconds of wandering around the notes until he found the melody, which he played a few times over. "Am I close?"

"Mhm," Dex nodded, pleased he'd picked it up so fast. He sat back down in the chair he was previously occupying, "Like, either it's just missing something, or I just need to rewrite that whole part like, fully." He watched Ben play his guitar for a moment, "Or, maybe I'm just being too nitpicky." He cracked a smile, "That's also totally possible."

Ben hummed a laugh, continuing to play, more confident now that Dex had confirmed he got it right. "You, too nitpicky?" He asked, "No way." He shifted forward on the couch so he could balance his guitar better, then started to change up the melody a bit. He paused, thinking about it. Ben wasn't really a songwriter, and he still struggled to accept that he was trusted to give his input at all. Even if his friend was watching him with bright, excited eyes. His fingers felt clumsy, all of a sudden, but he kept going. He kept the bones the same, but strayed, doubled back, rearranged a few things. Eventually, he nodded. "Okay, how about, try it like—" he played his new version, his expression stiff with concentration and uncertainty— "that? Makes it a little more, um, energetic."

He'd gotten so caught up in watching Ben play, mind returning back to the thoughts that were distracting him in the first place (had his hands always looked like that?), that he almost forgot to pull out his phone. Thankfully, Dex remembered, and made sure to record the final version so he could figure it out himself later. Despite the obvious uncertainty on his face, Ben had done exactly what Dex needed to hear. Which was obvious, with the way his face lit up by the time he had finished playing. "It is! I love it." He was already adding to his post-it note. An excited hum seemed to float around him as he scribbled away, "You're a genius, Ben, I could kiss you."

It wasn't until Dex was plastering the sticky note to the computer monitor a few seconds later that he realized what he had said. "Hold on—" He laughed, dropping the pen onto the desk and turning around. "I can kiss you." In just a couple of strides he was back at the couch. Placing his hands on either side of Ben's face, he did exactly that. "You're a genius." He grinned, then kissed him again, "Thank you." It felt nice to be praised, even if Ben was simultaneously mortified by it. He could feel the faint blush rising on his cheeks, even before Dex brought up kissing. Ben laughed along with him as he set his guitar aside. Good thing, too, because then they were kissing and he was glad to have his hands free. His fingers draped over Dex's wrists and held his hands in place even after the kiss.

Whatever he was planning to say in response was forgotten; his mind completely went blank, so Ben was just left sitting there. He went to speak, hesitated, then laughed and kissed Dex again. This time he grabbed the sides of Dex's unbuttoned shirt to pull him to sitting, then slid closer, moving a palm to the small of his back.

The sudden movement was a bit of a surprise, but, Dex gladly sat down as he was directed to. He couldn't keep the stupid little grin off of his face as he continued to kiss him. This wasn't the first, or even second—or third, honestly—time they'd kissed, and yet Dex still found his chest getting light and fluttery at the sensation. One of the hands previously on Ben's face slid around his neck, pulling himself in closer as the other rested on his leg. They'd kissed before, but it had never involved this many hands, or this much heat. It was strange: he usually let whoever he was kissing take the lead, but right now he so, so wanted to go further. And it was hard to not act on that desire. A moment of self doubt creeped in, but he quashed that down and decided to just go for it.

Ben broke the kiss and immediately brought his lips to Dex's jaw. He kissed there, and then down to his neck. With one hand still on his back, Ben lifted the other to hold onto the side of Dex's head. His fingers played along his hairline, the soft skin behind his ear, as he pressed his lips against his pulse. Dex felt the energy in the room shift. The hand on his back was now warm, heart pounding as Ben's mouth moved along his jaw. The fingertips caressing the back of his head sent the best kind of shiver down his spine, desire burning in the pit of his stomach. Ben's lips were soft, and all he could think about was how desperately he wanted to feel them all over him. Ben pressed another kiss further down his throat, and Dex moaned softly under the touch. His hands moved up Ben's legs, gripping his thighs, his hips, pulling him onto his lap.

It had been the right choice, he realized almost immediately, as Dex started melting into him. He was, too, his breathing getting heavier as he was pulled on top of the man. Ben shifted so he was straddling Dex, barely breaking contact while he moved. His next kiss had a little more teeth and a little more air and then he was lightly biting the skin above Dex's collarbone and when had he gotten this bold? This eager? Maybe it was that moan, still echoing around in his brain, overpowering everything else. He lifted his head so he could kiss Dex again, pressing his body closer as he did.

He almost cursed when Ben's teeth met his skin, the sensation making him dizzy. But then his mouth was on his again, and he couldn't help but sigh into it. Dex kissed him deeply, passionately, the kind of kiss that would knock you off your feet. He couldn't help himself. Ben's whole body was on him now, the eagerness to which he pressed against him just as much of a turn on as it was charming. Dex pulled off the flannel he was wearing, quickly, feverishly, keeping his hands or mouth off of him for more than a few seconds absolutely unbearable. Ben's shirt had shifted when he climbed onto him, exposing the smallest bit of his stomach. His fingers grazed the skin before slipping underneath the fabric, lips now moving across Ben's jaw, pressing just as eager kisses into his neck.

Dex's hands were warm, but Ben shuddered nonetheless, equal parts excited and, for the first time since walking into the studio, nervous. He could feel his heartbeat through every limb, and his skin was tingling; every sensation was heightened, electric and dizzying. Waves of pleasure radiated out from where Dex was touching him, from where each kiss landed, from where their hips were pressed together. He sucked in a breath and a small, involuntary sound slid out of his mouth. He exhaled a small laugh. "Dex..." But he couldn't even begin to attempt to finish the sentence. His fingers dug into Dex's shoulders, then moved to clutch his tank, pulling it up slowly. He hadn't even thought to do that, but his body was acting of its own accord.

He didn't think he could possibly want him any more, but, the way Ben laughed and said his name proved him completely wrong. Dex grinned against his skin, a pleased hum escaping as he kissed the hollow spot at the base of his neck. But, his shirt was moving up his back now, so he sat up a bit, gladly letting Ben pull it off of him. He kissed him on the mouth once more, unable to help himself from tugging on his lip as he did. His hands did the same, pulling the hem of Ben's shirt up his torso.

That familiar, needling worry crashed into his head and despite himself, despite how badly he wanted this, Ben froze. He didn't stop, but he definitely paused, the momentum of the moment stuttering for a beat. He hated himself for it. Ben bought himself a little extra time by kissing Dex again, though that didn't make it any easier to form a sentence. He almost decided to not say anything— but he knew that if he didn't he'd be in his head for the rest of the day.

Ben brought his hands to the sides of Dex's face and when he pulled back, it was only by an inch. "I have a lot of scars," was all he said, and even then the words felt clumsy and rushed. He laughed again, even quieter than before, and kissed Dex once more, "Just a fair warning." Then sat back, pulling his shirt over his head himself.

Dex noticed the pause, and it had pulled his mind back into reality for a moment, wondering if maybe something was wrong. He'd moved his hands to Ben's knees as he spoke, not wanting to push anything and let him act on his own terms. With a Demigod, he'd learnt, scars could mean so many different things. So, Dex had no idea what to expect until he saw it for himself.

Something tugged at his heart when he finally did, now understanding. With a kind smile, he gently reached for one of Ben's hands. He pressed a kiss against his wrist, his forearm, the crook of his elbow, following the thin scars traveling up his arms. He then pressed a small kiss to his shoulder, and lastly, his cheek. "Is this okay?" Dex asked, meeting his gaze again, "Like, all of this?" He took Ben's other hand as well, resting them on top of their legs. His voice was gentle, "I'm totally okay staying right here. I don't want you doing anything you're not comfortable with."

He wasn't sure what he was expecting; it wasn't like he thought Dex would be an asshole about it. But he definitely didn't anticipate... that. Ben stilled as Dex traveled up his arm, holding his breath a little too long. "Um..." he started, then he closed his eyes and nodded. "This is great," he said, squeezing Dex's hands with his own. "I mean that. I don't want to stop. It's just hard not to be self conscious, I guess." There was a tightness in his chest, suddenly, but he swallowed it down. "I don't want it to be weird, you know? And it's not ‘cause of you. But I don't know how to not feel weird about it."

Dex nodded slowly as Ben spoke, obviously unable to understand his situation, but, he could at least understand being self-conscious. "Well," He opened and closed their hands a few times, fidgeting around with their fingers as he tried to conjure up the right words, "This doesn't make me think any differently about you, if that means anything." He had no idea if it would. Maybe his big mouth just killed the whole mood. He lifted one of Ben's hands up to tentatively kiss the top of it, "But, thank you for being so honest." His words were genuine, "That's probably not an easy or fun thing to talk about."

The discomfort didn’t fade at all, even with Dex saying the best thing he could. Maybe it was because, despite the reassurance, he was worried that he’d fundamentally changed how Dex looked at him. Ben had relaxed a little, but he still felt horribly exposed. He cursed himself; The only reason this felt like a big deal was because he made it one. “It does,” He said anyway. “Mean something, I mean.” He wasn’t sure how convincing he sounded. But, he decided that he wasn’t going to worry about this right now. His lips were still tingling, his body still warm. He took a deep breath, then smiled a little wider, “Okay, where were we?” Before Dex could answer, he leaned in for another kiss, moving his hands to brush lightly along his ribs.

Dex opened his mouth, not quite sure what to even say, but, it felt like maybe he should say something. Too late for that, though, as Ben's lips were suddenly on his, hands against his skin, the desire rushing back in like a tidal wave. He kissed him back, greedily, happily; Dex wrapped his arms around him, pulling him back in as close as they were before. The kiss initially felt a little stiff, but it just took a few seconds for Ben to melt into it again. For how awkward that pause had been, Ben was glad he did it. Because now it was so much simpler to fall into this. His hands started drifting down, down, and he pulled on the hem of Dex’s jeans as they continued to kiss.

Usually Dex was the bold one, making the first moves, pushing things forward. But he wouldn't lie, it was pretty nice just following along for once. Ben found the hem of his jeans, and Dex shifted underneath him, making a bit of space for the other's wandering hands, but also intentionally rolling his hips up into his. "Go for it." He hummed against Ben's mouth.

The motion made him inhale sharply, his grip tightening. “I’m getting to it,” Ben mumbled, laughing, the rest of the tension evaporating from his shoulders. He slid his mouth over Dex’s jaw as he rolled his hips as well. His body was acting on its own again, alight with desire, his fingers moving over button and zipper and fabric. Then he kissed Dex again, deep and lingering and hungry, while he slid his hands even further down.

Research Shows Music is Infectious & Can Spread Like a Virus

New research shows that music can be infectious — like a virus — with download patterns resembling the epidemic curves for disease.

When a song hits the radio, a music streaming service like Spotify, or gets shared on a social media platform like TikTok — what happens next? Using mathematical tools typically applied to study the spread of infectious diseases, Dora Rosati and his team set out to discover more about the way music catches on.

Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical and Physical Sciences, the study found song download trends to be similar to the spread of an infectious disease. Dance and metal had the lowest spreadability scores. Pop music was only to be outdone by rock and hip hop — and electronica had the highest, most infectious, rating.

The research analyzed “1.4 billion individual song downloads from the now-discontinued music streaming service MixRadio. Focusing on the top 1,000 songs downloaded in the UK between 2007 and 2014, they measured how well a standard model of epidemic disease, called the SIR model, fitted trends in song downloads over time.”

Rosati, lead author on the study, shared:

With a disease, if you come into contact with someone who is ill, then you have a certain chance of catching that disease. With songs, it looks very similar. The big difference is that for songs, it doesn’t necessarily have to be physical contact – it could be that my friend used this cool new song in their Instagram story, so now I’m going to go and find it.

Dr. Thomas Rawson of Imperial College London offered this perspective:

There are probably a lot of people in a population that may already be immune to a genre like electronica, because of their existing tastes. My nan, for example, is particularly resistant to the infection of trap and dubstep.
