Do you have any fic recs? Something current or something old? I don't care at this point. I ran out of things to read ages ago.
I’ll be honest, Anon, I haven’t been reading a whole ton lately. Definitely having trouble keeping up with longer-running works. But I always try to check for new updates or new posted works. So most of these you’ve probably already seen. But in case you haven’t:
I’ve been very much enjoying the individual works of merelyafigment whose blog I for some reason can’t tag and who’s new to GG fic writing but isn’t new to writing in general, which is apparent in their style and proficiency. Their Brio characterization is really spot on and the latest work has some very decadently slow-building, super hot smut.
@joeyjoeylee has a new fic, did you see, Anon??? Is it Your Move or Mine. Where Brio play their usual games while playing an actual game of chess. Again, perfect characterization, as well as very visually accurate descriptions of that unspoken Brio magic where the silences are as loud (or louder) than their words.
Are you already reading @akg40 ‘s Wreck My Plans, That’s My Man? I’m definitely invested in this one. Onlyfans AU that’s funny and sexy and charming with the Brio banter and pining and jealousy. It’s such a lighthearted and enjoyable read. And I like the way it incorporates canonic aspects while keeping true to the original concept.
@faceless-inthecrowd ’s “Taco Bell Series” (how funny is that name) is a series of soft Brio one-shots as inspired by quotes on Taco Bell taco sauce packets. It’s a light read and good for the warm and fuzzies.
Literally anything by @littleengine74 is a joy to read, but I was particularly excited by their newest one-shot Is This Seat Taken. I’m always a fan of clever structures and this fic delivers so well! An unreliable narration that explores the traumas between Brio in a way only they would – hidden in shadow and pretending not to be pretending. 10/10.
@battlfofendorr has a few introspective one-shots from various POVs up on AO3. I like their style of prose, in particular. It’s such an interesting way to explore Brio, and much more beautiful than I could aspire to write. There isn’t plot, but a fantastic practice of character study. If you like being inside Brio’s heads like I do, I recommend you try these.
@abi1821 , can you reblog with more recommendations? Maybe some longer pieces for someone to really sink their teeth into? You know them all. 😁❤️❤️❤️
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there’s a pattern!
Thanks @entwinedloop for tagging me. I don’t usually do these, but you have to start somewhere, right? Here goes!
1. Enemy of My Enemy
Rio frowned and took another look around the empty space.
2. Deck The Halls
“Elizabeth!” Rio snapped, stepping down off the short ladder, his nerves fraying as Beth directed him - for the third time in as many minutes - on how to adjust the end of the garland to even it out.
3. Is This Seat Taken
“Is this seat taken?”
4. You’ve Been Served
“Hey, man, I’ll have whatever she’s havin.”
5. What Would Elizabeth Do?
Beth pushed open the door of the cafe and made a beeline for the counter to get an extra-large of her usual.
6. Muse
Beth sat back against the bar stool and took another sip of her drink.
7. Olive Branches and Birthday Cakes
Beth was running late for her next meeting, walking through the parking lot behind City Hall juggling her purse, laptop bag and coffee, when she heard her phone ring.
8. Smarter Than Your Average Gang Friend
It was late.
9. Better Than Chocolate
Elizabeth - I need to cancel tonight.
10. Siren Song
Between fighting with Dean about his reluctance to take the kids for the entire week like he was supposed to, and all the extra hours she’d been working to get Rio’s latest printing order finished on time, it felt like she hadn’t had any time just for herself in months.
Patterns? The first lines don’t always give it away, but my fics are all Brio, all the time, so there’s no mixing of the ships in this selection. I do seem to have them eating or drinking an awful lot, but other than that I’m not sure if I see any real patterns. Some first sentences are longer/more detailed than others, some are… not (numbers 3 and 8, I’m looking at you, you slackers! 🤣).

Beth and Rio came from wealthy families, with Beth's Dad working in imports and Rio’s Grandfather being the head of the Martinez crime syndicate.
Rosa, Rio’s grandmother, is tired of telling him to find a nice girl and settle down. He's almost 30 for God's sake.
Beth's mother hates that her daughter doesn't want to settle down and stop partying all the time.
Rosa and Claire meet at the country club and come up with the elaborate plan to get their two wayward children together. And if they have to sign a contract to do it- so be it.
I was tag by @faceless-inthecrowd and @michelleelizabethtanner <3 Thank you so much
Post the last line of the most recent fic you’ve worked on.
It's from brioficweek2024 day 5 (Wearing each others clothes or accessories)
Beth bit the inside of her cheek to keep from giggling at her discovery. She didn't know if she should come forward now, or turn around, let him think she hadn't seen anything, and tease him later.
But her stomach was screaming, and she found it adorable that he was trying to hide it. She wanted to laugh at him gently, right away. And afterwards, because she thought he looked so unfairly sexy, extended their pose for a much more intimate and terribly less boring moment than their current work, on the desk.
I think everyone was already tag so...everyone who see this post, please do if you want!

I'm almost drowning in wips now, but here's a little 'cheer au' that mayy be done for fic week.
There was a problem though, one that had gotten worse in the past month, a wave of vandalism in the neighborhood; the cafe across the street, some jewelry store a few blocks down, and a corner gas station. Her father's boxing gym was no exception.
Beth sighed, dunking the sponge back into a bucket of soapy water, attempting to remove the graffiti that read Vasquez from the wall.

Elizabeth Marks works in congressman Robert Marks' office, her father's office. She has little of personal life, as work occupies most of her time. But one night with a strange changes everything.
The stranger, Rio, is a charming man, looking dangerous, but she kind of loves that dangerous aura around him.
Elizabeth doesn't know yet that Rio has his own agenda.
