do you know any nsfw stories that are set immediately after kagome comes back after the 3 years? It can be a chaptered story or oneshot
Thank you!!!
superpyku asked:
Hello, I love a good post-canon fanfic where it describes what happened when Kagome came back from the well. Doesn't need to be a long fic about their life thereafter but one about what happened during and immediately after their reunion will be good. Would love to know your fav list of such. Thank you
-------------
We love a good reunion fic! The list below is full of stories that take place right as Kagome returns to the Feudal Era and immediately after, split into NSFW and SFW for whatever mood you're looking for. There are a lot of fics like this out there, but we capped ourselves at 20 to keep the list at a reasonable length. Feel free to add your favorites in the reblogs/replies!
If you're looking for more post-canon goodness, you can also check out our other post canon lists:

Kagome's Got To Go by @ajoy3fanfics (NR)
The way Yuki and Suki saw it, this Kagome woman needed to go.
From the first day she came, they knew she was trouble. They had been playing a perfectly fun game of 'who can annoy uncle the most' (It was always Suki), when he suddenly stood up, passing them off to Shippo with a distant look in his eyes. Uncle was fast, there was no question about that, but unless there was a reason for him to be on high alert, he was downright lethargic. Still, Uncle Inuyasha needing space wasn't anything new, so it wasn't terribly worrisome that he took off at high speed; It did, however, raise a few red flags when Shippo shook them off and headed in the dog demons direction, screaming "it's her! She's back!"

Robe
Tumblr media
The number of times that you recalled a certain half demon placing his robe over you in protections were too numerous to count. It was only when you were in dire danger or need that the precious red fabric ever left his being. It was his armor, as you’ve come to recognize from every battle you’d witnessed, proving its worth time and time again as he fought countless foes. There were a few times when its protection could only do so much for him but he always treated it with care even when it had been rendered to tatters until it could return to its former completed shape.
Your gaze rose upwards to the darkened night sky. Another new moon had come, earning the little traveling group a much needed break for camp, along with a change over a certain person who now grumbled lowly under their breath as a town appeared in the distance. The change InuYasha befell never ceases to amaze you as he huffed when the little fox demon lightly poked fun. Long pristine platinum white hair was now a black that could rival tonight’s darkness, touchable ears that would swivel or perk had disappeared, and the sharpness of his nails that was rivaled by his eyes were now softer yet still profound that told of inhuman heritage.
“What are you looking at?”
A snap of your head back towards the road shifted your gaze forward. “Wonder if there’s an place that we can stay at.”
“Tsk. Nothing wrong with camping.”
The monk intervened before you could respond, stating that for everyone’s sake it would be best to take shelter, then departed once spotting several prosperous homes. None too surprising that Sango followed him closely with Shippo and Kilala up her shoulders. That meant it was just the two of you walking along the dirt trodden path.
As if pulled by a magnet your gaze drifted back towards the seemingly normal man beside you.
“If you’ve got something to say, than say it already.” His snap was halfhearted, earning a raise of your eyebrow. When you didn’t answer he quickened his pace until blocking your path which caused you to stop. It was rare to see this expression upon his face as the nearby lantern illuminated his features for you. It was concerned, worried maybe, but most of all it was sincere. “What is it? You’ve been awfully quiet since dusk.” This was another aspect that you favored about this time of the month. Honesty was a strong suit of his, ego and bravado being used as shields when someone managed to get beneath his skin, but it was during this change that he was more open with you in particular when in regards to certain topics. Patience wasn’t his forte yet he waited for longer than you expected for an answer of some sort until he cast a brief glance over your shoulder before encouraging you to stand closer to the source of light. “You know I’d do my best to protect you, right? Don’t be scared.”
Warmth entered your cheeks at the tone he used. “Oh, I know you will, that’s not why—” Your words were forgotten as one of his hands appeared from the robe’s sleeves to press its palm against your forehead. “What are you doing?”
“Checking to see if you’re falling ill.” The hum that sounded from his throat reverberated slightly in your ears from its pitch, his expression becoming one of concentration. “You don’t have a fever so that’s good.”
“Really, I’m fine.”
At that moment a breeze blew past, tickling the bare skin of your legs and arms until the hairs stood upright with its cooler temperature, earning a shiver across your body. Your head hung as he sighed. All day you’ve been suppressing similar shivers down your spine with each breath of wind that whispered of fall’s coming frost. Guess you should’ve listened to mom’s advice about packing weather appropriate clothing. The school’s summertime uniform wasn’t going to cut it for much longer. Why couldn’t you have packed a jacket or some leggings instead of all those textbooks that threatened to break your back?
Silence filled the air between the two of you until the sound of shifting fabric caused your gaze to rise in curiosity only for it to become ensnared by a pair of warm sienna brown eyes that subtly shone with amber shards. His fingers were careful as they slipped the heavy backpack off your shoulders, easily swinging it up onto his own, then shifted so that you were nearly sandwiched between his body and the lantern. Not only was he blocking the wind but also attempting to combine his body heat with that of the lantern to help keep you warm until the others returned. And still his gaze remained locked on your own even when the subtlest of pink hues appeared within the tips of his ears. “It’s not much but better?”
A small smile lifted your lips as the chill in your skin slowly dissipated. “Much, thanks.”
It didn’t take long for Shippo to return with word that Miroku had found a place to stay for the night. After a modest dinner and sleeping arrangements had been made, you slipped off towards a quieter part of the residence where a little studying could be done. The head of the house had been kind enough to provide a few candles to offer better light for you but they did little to stem off the night’s chill as your nearly numb fingers fumbled to turn a page. Just as you were about to call it a night because it was becoming too difficult to focus from the cold, something happened that you never would have guessed or saw coming.
From behind you appeared two folds of familiar fabric that loosely enclosed you within a cocoon, a pair of legs folding neatly beneath you in place of the floor that were far more cushioned, and a firm toned surface meeting your back that had begun to protest against the slouched position you’d been in for the last hour. “Getting some studying done?” He asked softly, as if hoping not to startle you too much. A barely audible hiss slipped from between his lips as he drew you closer with a squeeze. “Damn, (Y/n), you’re freezing. How can you possibly get anything done when you’re this cold?”
Your answer was lost to the stuttering of syllables as your teeth chattered slightly, earning a chuckle from the dark haired man.
“Next time you’re this cold, just say something, ‘kay?” It was only when you nodded in agreement did his posture become more relaxed, hold loosening just enough that you could pick up the textbook again.
Now you had a completely different reason to be distracted.
Had he always been this warm or was that the robe? Either way it was so blissful that your mind slowly became a muddled mess the longer you remained within his hold. The sharp scents of Wind Scars or Backlash Waves that mostly dominated his being had given way to reveal faint traces of salty sweat reminding you of the beach, dry chalky remnants that were similar to mountains, and spicy cinnamon that tickled your nose in an alluring way.
“So what are you studyin’ this time? Is it that weird trig-no-metry thing?”
A chuckle came from your throat, shifting so that he could see the illustration of a bamboo forest. “It’s the story of a prince who wants to marry the bamboo princess but she has all these tasks for him to do before she agrees.” The tip of your finger rose when his expression became weary. “It’s similar to the Kaguya legend but this one describes the Robe of the Fire Rat to be silvery and beautiful.”
His eyebrows shot upwards as his chin fell to rest upon your shoulder, causing your cheeks to brush. “Yeah?”
“Mmhm. According to this, it was mistaken for common silk at first when an iron box had been dug up beneath a fallen temple. Only the prince of Japan at the time who had sent word to his dear friend in China asking for assistance understand what it truly once when he received it. So beautiful it was the he couldn’t wait to gift it to the princess but didn’t feel as though it would do her justice.” Your hand turned the page to reveal an illustration, eyes finding the sentence where you left off and continued to read aloud. “‘Across a bed of coals did the prince lay the robe, for it had been heard that the robe would become more beautiful to behold once kissed by flame’s lingering breath’. It said in a passage that it was as if silver had been spun finely to create the robe that could protect its wearer from any heat related harm.” From the corner of your eye you could see InuYasha’s gaze shift from the open book to his trusty coat, coaxing his eyes to return to the page courtesy of your nudge. “However, the prince made a mistake. He placed it on the coals twice more and it evaporated into silver smoke.”
The snort that sounded nearly made you smile. “Idiot. Should’ve just left it alone.”
“Well, he was trying to make sure it was in its peak condition before giving it to the bamboo princess. Nothing wrong with trying to ensure a gift is in its best condition.” You chided, noting how he rolled his eyes. “Yours was a gift from your father, right? Would you have been happy if he’d given it to you full of holes?” No sooner had the words come out of your mouth did you wish to take them back as his gaze darkened. Guilt filled your veins as his lip curled. “InuYasha, I’m sorry—”
“It was actually a gift to my mother who then passed it down to me when she died.” His tone was much softer than the expression made of stone he wore. “My old man knew he wouldn’t be enough to protect her so he’d asked the Fire Rat to make something for her. A lot of good it did her though.”
From within your heart came a twinge of sadness for him as he took a deep inhale through his nose. The book was closed with a snap, somehow not earning a reaction from him, then it was placed off to the side as you pivoted so that the two of you were facing each other. Only when the palms of your hands cupped his face did the dark haired InuYasha surface from the thoughts plaguing his mind. His gaze found your own, finding warmth and honesty, before you snuggled into his being while wrapping your arms around his torso. “I’m glad your father had it made to protect her, you could almost say it was made from his love for Lady Izayoi, and it became full of her love for you after your birth.” From this angle you couldn’t see his face there was no mistaking the rhythm of his heart quickening when you gave him a squeeze. “You could even say that its their love combined that continues to protect you even during this time when you feel weakest.”
The stiffness within his toned muscular frame ebbed at your words. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that he’d been constantly on guard all day knowing what was to come once the sun had set. Sure there was Sango, Miroku, and even Kilala to help if a battle or opponent were to present themselves. Ever so slowly, his arms enclosed around you in a returning embrace until the entirety of your form was nearly pressed against his own. Tresses of his long hair intermixed with your own as his warm breath wafted the sensitive skin of your neck.
Not another word was spoken between the two of you as one by one the candles flickered than hissed before extinguishing until darkness settled over the two of you like a heavy curtain. Neither it nor the whispering chill on the breeze could force you two apart as warmth slowly grew between your forms. The robe was large enough to comfortably fit around your combined forms, although that might have been because you were practically cradled against his form with your face protectively tucked beneath his chin, the gentle rises and falls of your chests in harmony as sleep slowly claimed you both.
It was almost too soon that you woke to find the first few rays of sunshine filtering over the horizon. Unlike the first time you’d witnessed his transformation, you watched with awe as black gave way to silvery platinum and the sharpness returned to his features as he stirred. The lids of his eyes opened just in time for the sienna brown to be overtaken by brilliant gold and pupils to become oval shaped rather than circular, those shards of amber remaining but now becoming harder to see from the irises’ ring. And yet he didn’t move or say anything that suggested you should move away. So within his hold you remained, offering a smile of greeting when his pointed dog-like ears perked in your direction.
“Morning, InuYasha.”
His gaze flitted off to the distance, a huff sounding in his nose. “Yeah…morning.”
“Did you sleep good?”
“Tsk. Would you sleep well if something heavier than a pickling pot sat in your lap?”
A twitch settled within your brow. Standing, you gathered all of the books you’d meant to study last night and shoved the materials back into your bag as the chorus of your names came from within the residence. “Sounds like the others are up so we should get going.”
“Not like we got anything here to keep us. Better to move on.”
The muscles within your jaw clenched as he nonchalantly rose then disappeared around the main house’s corner in the direction of where your companions would likely be as you hurried to follow. It was then that you noticed not only was your bag suddenly missing but the Robe of the Fire Rat was secured around your frame in a similar fashion that it had been at the Sage Tokijin’s temple. When had he done that?
“Hurry up, (Y/n), we ain’t got all day!”
Though it was so fast the others had missed, or if they had seen they didn’t comment, the pink tinge that entered his cheeks when you’d appeared alongside them.
“Why are you wearing InuYasha’s robe?” Shippo asked curiously while hoping up to balance atop of your head. “Did something happen last night that made you not come to bed?”
A teasing smile raised your lips while catching the half-demon’s gaze before taking the lead from him from beyond the gate that was entrance to the residence. “Looks better on me, wouldn’t you agree, Miroku?”
Instantly, InuYasha’s expression became one of anger as the perverted monk made to comment. “Don’t you even start!”

Things Inuyasha definitely does when he's in the modern era:
Rescues stray cats from trees.
Stops on the streets to pet people's cats.
Goes into the pet aisle of supermarkets and ogles the items.
He tries out dog biscuits and is mortified when Kagome tells him what they are. She never lets him live it down.
Gives old ladies piggyback rides across crowded intersections. Kagome compliments him on his kindness and he scoffs and insists he just doesn't want them to get into car accidents (he finds cars awesome and terrifying all at once).
Loves trains and chases after them. Kagome thinks it's cute.
He yanks on electrical street cables once out of curiosity. It ends horribly and he has nightmares about Kagome's wrath.
Puts metal objects in the microwave and almost sets Kagome's house on fire. Has nightmares about that too.
He keeps calling Tokyo Edo out of habit and everyone thinks he's being quaint and silly.
People ask him if he dyed his hair white to look cool. He doesn't know what they're talking about.
He loves Hello Kitty. He takes Hello Kitty merchandise back to his own era and gets teased mercilessly by Shippo. Sango and Miroku, on the other hand, think it's a special modern talisman. Kagome breaks the news to them one day and they too mercilessly tease him.
Secretly they all want to go to the modern era too. They're happy for Inuyasha whenever he goes there because he seems so innocent and joyful.

@ask-summer-epos: oh wow it's awesome to meet you! hmm is your white mane natural?! what magic do you know?
@a-spoonful-o-generosity: Darling, you mane is absolutely fabulous <3
Inuyasha: I uh... I don't... Hang on...
Is he shy, or is he thinking about how the last pony who had such nice things to say about his mane was a hair demon who wanted to cut off his head for her collection?
(High-res transparent PNGs below the cut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summer Epos is definitely the reason this ask took so long to churn out (and definitely not because I started on another ask first and decided I wanted to reorder things a little). Her mane and gradients took me two days to conquer, but I'm really happy with the result.
I didn't realize after doing Summer Epos, I turned around and did Silver Spoon's braid too. This is just a braids kind of answer! Good thing I love drawing braids! One of my OCs for an MLP spinoff idea a friend and I have been working on has a big long braid I love to draw also!

CHAPTER TEN: Can I Have This Dance?
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: “and I’d choose you. In a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you.” – Kiersten White. For each chapter, a prompt from the One Hundred Ways to Say I Love You list. WORDS: 1.570 GENRE: fluff FANDOM: Inukag FORMAT: multichapter ALSO FOUND ON: AO3
Tumblr media
Kagome was many, many things. That much, Inuyasha knew.
Impossibly kind, of course, was one of them.
He had heard of kindness before, even held it for a while, back when he didn’t know just how easily it could slip through his fingers. Then he grew to learn he wasn’t worthy of it and figured if he didn’t deserve it, neither did everyone else.
Kagome, however, had different ideas. Her kindness was a miracle thrusted upon a non believer. He dared not to pray for it, mocked the ones who had faith such a thing even existed, but experiencing it firsthand still brought him to his knees at the end of the day. To share her generosity with the world so freely was bold, if a little naive. To share her generosity with the likes of him? It was nothing short of incredible.
Add courageous to the list. Kagome was so, so brave, it surprised and scared him in the very same amount. It was a strange balance between reverent pride and inadequate fright, because she was his to protect and yet not his at all.
She was smart, too. Or at least one might say she was. Inuyasha wouldn’t. A smart girl would have left long ago without thinking twice when he offered the chance. A smart girl wouldn’t keep on coming back. And he could have never, ever blamed her for it.
Gorgeous. There was no denying that she was. Even though, for reasons Inuyasha wasn’t quite ready to explore, he couldn’t help but deny it, especially to himself.
And sure, after a lot of practice — and a whole lot of failure — the girl became a formidable fighter with a bow on her hand and some arrows in her quiver.
Yes, Kagome was many, many things.
But she wasn’t at all graceful. In fact, Kagome was the type of person to stumble over her own two left feet. On flat surfaces. Constantly.
Then why couldn’t he take his eyes off of her? Why were they so obstinate on following her every fumbling move as she danced — tried to dance — with the villagers in this silly little festival of theirs?
If Inuyasha had it his way, they would never have stopped for that sort of useless distraction, not when they were in the middle of a world changing quest. Staying put did nothing to nudge them towards their goal, nor did it soothe that feeling inside, urging him to keep going, reminding him that he wasn’t allowed to waste time, that the enjoyment of the simplest things caused a false sense of security he couldn’t afford, a happiness he wasn’t permitted.
Besides, bad things always seemed to happen whenever he decided to stay around humans — other than his own — for too long. Still, it was four against one. Again. And Inuyasha had to admit: the prospect of warm, seasoned food wasn’t exactly unappealing.
The village was an explosion of vibrant colors, cheerful sounds and appetizing smells. Inuyasha didn’t know or cared about what there was to celebrate. The plan was short and clear. Eat. Get some rest. Then leave at first light.
That was until Kagome thought it was a good idea to drag Shippo to the direction where the music was coming from.
To Inuyasha’s surprise, not a single nose twitched. Nobody screamed obscenities or ran for the hills. Shippo’s presence was welcomed into the dancing crowd like he was just another person. Like it didn’t matter who he was, what he was.
But Inuyasha remained grounded.
He had made that mistake once or twice: letting his guard down, thinking it might be different this time around, only to pay the price at the end.
Although Shippo was a demon, a seemingly inoffensive kid didn’t pose as much of a threat as Inuyasha, with his sharp claws and fangs. The best course of action was to not push his luck and keep a low profile. That way, they could co-exist in relative peace.
Worst case scenario he would get to watch while Kagome danced.
He smirked.
Her unusual clothes made her stand out in an almost comical manner, but Inuyasha had no doubt he’d recognize her anywhere, anytime, even if they didn’t give her away.
There were flowers all over Kagome’s wild hair, their soft shades contrasting with her dark onyx. She was doing her best to keep up and, ever the fast learner, was struggling considerably less to do so now than at the beginning. Barefoot, Kagome would laugh at any missed steps and fall right back in the rhythm, delighted to merely be there, trying.
It was a sight to behold, the way she inadvertently brightened the entire place, the way she captured the attention of everyone present without even meaning to.
“Enjoying the view, I see.”
“Fuck off,” Inuyasha replied, pushing Miroku’s suggestive face away, promptly returning his gaze to Kagome.
Their eyes locked and she smiled, enthusiastically waving for him to join her. Inuyasha refused the offer with a shake of head that held more politeness than he usually would care to show for anyone else, flattered that she’d even thought to ask.
Kagome rolled her eyes good-naturedly and went back to dancing, knowing him too well to act surprised.
“It’s not chivalrous to deny a dance to a lady.”
“Good ‘cause I ain’t no gentleman.”
“Just dance with her already. You know you want to.”
“That’s ridiculous.”
“Leave him alone, Monk,” Sango finally chimed in, “he obviously doesn’t have the guts.”
Inuyasha scowled at her, coming dangerously close to taking the bait, but recognized it for what it was in time.
“This isn’t gonna work, ya know?”
“Well, then maybe this will.”
Sango pushed him and suddenly Inuyasha found himself surrounded by swirling villagers. His brain went into overload, desperate to decide what would be less mortifying: slowly retreating and giving Sango the satisfaction of calling him a coward or… dancing.
That’s when Kagome saw him — her contagious smile growing into a full beam — and reached for him. So he opted for what felt right, for what felt natural.
He went to her.
Inuyasha was painfully aware of how stupid he looked. How was it possible to feel more comfortable fighting demons twice his size than following a goddamn choreography?
Against all odds, he persisted, determined to cross the distance between them. Only every time they got close, the steps demanded them to move in opposite directions.
A lot of clapping, swinging and twisting later, Inuyasha was at the verge of giving up when, by some miracle, they got face to face. His excitement lasted all of the two seconds it took for the music to end and the crowd to disperse. They stood there, a tad bit breathless, a tad bit awkward. Inuyasha scratched his head while she blushed, both avoiding eye contact at any costs. Kagome mumbled something about finding Shippo and left him wondering if she was as disappointed as he felt.
Everything went smoothly and uneventfully from there. Miroku and Sango had the decency to keep their mouths shut and the food was, indeed, fantastic. They set camp on the outskirts of the village — there were no huts available, so Miroku didn’t even try to pretend that granting them the Shogun’s quarters was essential to eradicate the supposedly great evil that lurked the area — and bathed on the nearby river, where Inuyasha was headed.
His friends had turned in for the night, but sleep evaded him. Every time he closed his eyes, Kagome was there, dancing like a dream: beautiful and just out of his reach. His mind made a point out of burning the images to memory and replaying them in the sweetest kind of torture.
He was filling Kagome’s canteens with water, figuring it would be wise to use his restlessness to get at least one chore out of the way come morning, when his ears twitched at the unmistakable sound of her approach.
“Inuyasha?”
“Hey! Watcha doin’ up?”
“I could ask you the same question.”
“Refilling.”
“Is that so?” He didnt reply, so after a pause she continued, “I had fun earlier.”
“Yeah, I know.” Inuyasha cleared his throat, then confessed, “me too.” Even though I’m not supposed to, he mentally added.
“Can I have this dance?”
That caught him completely off guard. Inuyasha genuinely thought their chance had passed.
Kagome took the canteen out of his grasp and put it safely on the ground, his heart lapping furiously at the accidental brush the gesture caused. She reached her hand again, the same way she did before, waiting for his answer.
Inuyasha tilted his head.
“There’s no music.”
“I don’t mind, I just… I wanted to dance with you today.”
It was all he needed to hear in order to get up and take her warm hand with his cold, wet one, watching as she ever so gently interlocked their fingers without seeming to care.
They looked at each other, their noses nearly touching until Kagome set the pace, using their connected hands to spin herself away from him only to then step back into his hold, her cheeks now against his chest, her other palm resting on his shoulder. Inuyasha snaked an arm around her waist and they swayed in place under the moonlight.
It was nothing like the gleeful moves from the villagers, but in that stolen moment, Inuyasha swore.
He could hear music.

Lazy Day Confession
Inuyasha x GN! Reader
Warnings: None :D
Summary: Y/N just wanted to have one day away from their friends, but of course Inuyasha just had to crash. Eventually there’s a confession while they’re eating lunch.
~~~
I just wanted one day away from everyone. Just one fucking day from Kagome & her obsession with Inuyasha, away from Miroku & his flirting, away from Inuyasha & his annoying half demon habits. But of course, Inuyasha had to find his way into my day. Literally forcing himself into my home. The only reason he’s still here is because I’m too comfortable in my nest of soft blankets & cuddly stuffed animals to actually get up & deal with him. Oh & of course he’s being annoying, questioning why I’m like this & not accepting the answer I give him.
“Why are you like that?” Inuyasha asks for what is most likely the 100th time that day. He hasn’t moved from his spot, which is crouching right next to my comfort nest. Pale, clawed hands resting just at the rim of my nest. Dangerously close to invading my comfortable space.
“Because I’m comfortable & I wanted a day alone.” I answer with an annoyed sigh. Finally answering his question with something more than ‘because I am’ & hoping he'll drop it. He perks up at the new answer, obviously pleased that I had finally given him something. His small dog ears twitching on top of his head in what may be excitement.
“Can I join you?” He asks suddenly. He even tilts his head, letting his long, ponytailed hair fall to the side behind him. White strands of hair spilling onto the ground next to him.
“Join me?” I finally lift my head to look at him, he’s dressed in a red T-shirt & some gray sweatpants. He usually wears a red hoodie & some sort of red or black pants so this is a very rare sight. He takes no mind of me finally examining him, which slowly is followed by a raised eyebrow that he also ignores. I know he’s more focused on his task at hand, which seems to be joining me. Fuck.
“Yes, join you. You said it’s comfortable” Inuyasha answers & starts moving closer to me, which means he’s now leaning into my nest a bit. I furrow my eyebrows, already silently questioning him before the words even leave my lips.
“Why are you even here?” I ask instead of answering the question. The white haired man pouts, obviously not liking my response to his request. He obviously just wants in, no more questions, no more ignoring. But I won’t let him in so quickly. I told him I wanted to be alone today, so I deserve an answer before I allow this annoying dog into my oh, so comfortable nest.
“Because you said you wanted to be alone. I assumed you weren’t ok & came to make sure you’d be alright.” Inuyasha answers honestly. This doesn’t surprise me. We’ve known each other since we were young. While he’s oblivious to others' feelings & even most hints given to him; it’s hard to miss such signs on someone you’ve known since diapers. I mean, I’ve noticed him ignoring obvious signs from Kagome. Poor girl likes him, but he doesn’t like her, it seems. Letting out a long, drawn out sigh I give him an annoyed look. Inuyasha’s head perks up again, ears twitching with anticipation. He knows he’s won the battle. He’s getting what he wants. As usual.
“Fine, don’t mess anything up or I’m kicking you out.” I warn & scoot over a little, grabbing a blanket to throw over him. Inuyasha seems a little too happy to be joining me in my nest as he quickly makes his way into said nest & makes himself comfortable next to me. I throw the blanket over him & get comfortable again, adjusting my position for the male next to me. I watch as Inuyasha visibly relaxes & calms down. Head lolled back, ears in a resting position, shoulders untensed, & a dopey smile on his pale face. His long hair now spills off the side of the nest. A soft smile makes its way onto my face. It’s been forever since we’ve hung out, just the two of us. After meeting the others, we’ve been either around the group or Kagome is dragging the poor guy around. It’s nice to finally just spend a day with him, even if it’s supposed to be my 100% loner, no interactions at all - day.
I turn back to the tv in my room & turn on Courage The Cowardly Dog. Inuyasha & I sit comfortably together as we watch the old cartoon. Throughout watching the episodes of the old cartoon, I had started to lean into Inuyasha at some point. I realize what had happened when the half demon dog wraps his arms around me. I’m immediately surrounded by the never ending warmth that he produces without fail. I don’t move, he's warm, & doesn't smell too bad for once. For once he just smells like his weird woodsy cologne. Though sitting like this with him makes me feel a little guilty. I know Kagome has a crush on him, she’s had one ever since they met basically. However, at the same time I don’t feel guilty. She’s never made a move, the ‘moves’ she has made have been demanding his attention & getting jealous of most girls who interact with him in a friendly manner. It’s mean, I’m aware. But we’re childhood friends, I’m allowed to be weirdly close with the guy I’ve kinda liked since middle school.
“I’m hungry, let’s make some lunch.” Inuyasha’s voice cuts through my train of thought easily. I look up at him & raise an eyebrow. It’s not unlike him to be random & forwards with his hunger though.
“You want to try to cook?” I inquire, not fully trusting this idea. We’re both not allowed in the kitchen most of the time.
“Of course, you like cooking, don’t you?”
“Nope, I’m not allowed in the kitchen when anyone is cooking.”
“Oh, well we can still order something for lunch.”
“Sure, I’ll pick the place though.” I state casually. He goes to protest; however I don’t allow him to & start reaching for my phone. Of course, me being in the nest all day means it can be anywhere which makes me stop for a moment. So, I decide to steal Inuyasha’s phone. Taking it right from his left pants pocket, where he always keeps it. I enter the code, his mother’s birthday, & pull up his Homerush app. I put in my favorite noodle place. I’m not at all surprised to see he’s ordered from there multiple times. He has a noodle addiction at this point. I opt to re-order for his part of the meal & then input my favorite. It takes no time to finish ordering & finally hand him his phone. He checks the receipt & starts fuming.
“You used my card!” He seethes, though it’s obvious he’s not really that mad about it.
“You crash my alone day; you pay for lunch.” I say like it’s the most normal thing in the world. I get a huff & an eye roll from the taller man, who proceeds to slump into me & effectively crush me. Attempting to move him doesn’t go so well considering he’s stronger than me by a decent amount, & most definitely heavier. With a huff of my own, I relax back into the pillows & blankets behind me & allow him to stay slumped into me for now. After a few moments Inuyasha wraps his arms back around me & moves enough for the position to be comfortable for the both of us once again. We’re back to watching old cartoons & cuddling. Honestly, this is super comfortable. However the nice, comfortable time is interrupted by his phone going off. Inuyasha pulls out his phone & checks the notification. With a groan, he brings the phone closer to his other hand, & subsequently right in front of me. His phone is open to a chat, with who I assume is Kagome considering the name ‘Annoying woman’. It’s obvious that she’s been bugging him to hang out for a while.
Annoying woman
Hey Inuyasha! Are you free today?
I was wondering if you wanted to hangout & maybe get some noodles at this new place in town.
10:00am
Annoying woman
You can just tell me that you don’t want to hang out.
Are you really gonna just ignore me?
im getting noodles with Y/N
1:40pm
Inuyasha puts his phone on Do Not Disturb before clicking on a notification from Homerush. The tracker shows that the food is close by. With a satisfied sigh, Inuyasha sets his phone back into his pocket & snuggles back into me. I had to do my best not to snort at his response & actions. He can be so childish & rude sometimes.
“Heartbreaker.” I comment as I start playing with his hair. His hair is always soft & seems to be immune to getting knotted, demon hair is so weird. Honestly, playing with his hair is always so calming, unfortunately he doesn't let me do it often, unless he wants his hair braided. Inuyasha snuggles closer, obviously enjoying the sensation of his hair being played with.
“Me? To who? Kagome? I doubt she’s heartbroken over not getting to eat noodles with me.” He grumbles out.
“You can’t be this blind, she likes you.” I get tempted to smack the back of his head for his idiocy, but refrain since I like playing with his hair.
“Oh… too bad, she’s not the person I like.” He comments so casually as he goes to retrieve the food, I assume he could smell it.
“Let me guess, your crush iiiiis kikyo?” I guess, assuming he simply had some feelings for his ex still, who, funny enough, is Kagome’s twin sister. My guess gets a snort & a head shake from the half demon.
“Guess again.”
“...Sango?”
“Hell no!”
“Miroku?”
“Ew.”
“... ahahahah! Is it Koga??” I cackle at the idea of Inuyasha liking his arch nemesis. That just gets an annoyed eye roll from the man who gives me a dirty look for that guess. “Unless it’s Naraku I have no clue.”
“You never even guessed yourself.” He grumbles, finally handing me my noodles & some chopsticks. I stare at him in confusion as I feel my face slowly grow warmer. He plops down back into his spot & looks at me with a done face. “I like you idiot.” He says clearly, making sure I understand that this isn’t a joke. My face grows warmer as I look away & mumble.
“I like you too Inu.” My response gets a huge smile as he leans over & kisses my flushed cheek.
“Then it’s official, we’re dating now.” He says with a victorious nod. He turns back to the tv to continue watching the old cartoon. Normally this is where I should make some comment on how that’s not how relationships work, but he’s so pleased with himself & I’ve wanted to date him for some time now. Sue me. I focus back on the cartoon as well as I eat my noodles.
The next day…
“& then Kirara stole my chicken!” Miroku continues to tell the tragic tale of how Sango’s demon cat Kirara ruined his dinner last night. Sango’s standing to the side shaking her head softly while doing her best not to smile fondly at her fiance. Kagome is standing beside me, doing her best not to laugh at the older man.
“Yo losers!” Inuyasha calls out as he finally shows up. He stands on my other side & wraps his arm around my shoulders. I lean into his side as everyone catches on to this new behavior.
“Took you long enough dog boy.” I comment. Sango slowly raises a hand to point from Inuyasha & then to me, & then back to Inuyasha. She does this a few times before finally forming a proper question.
“When did this become a thing?” She inquires.
“Yesterday when he crashed my lazy day.” I grumble with some slight saltiness. I notice Miroku is going to ask an inappropriate question & stop him before he can. “Don’t you dare holy boy, verbalize that question I fucking dare you.” I challenge which seems to work since he takes a step back with his hands up in front of his chest. Kagome seems to be obviously upset with what’s happening in front of her with small tears gathering in her eyes.
“W-what? But wasn’t I being obvious about my feelings for him?” She asks with a slight quiver.
“Well with Inuyasha you have to be upfront with him. Also just because you like him doesn’t mean he’s obligated to return your feelings.” I explain bluntly yet gentle enough to not seem hostile.
“But you noticed right? Why would you…?”
“Kagome, we’re not playing the “I called dibs” game. Plus, I called dibs all the way back in middle school.” I note at the end, I admit that was harsh. The last part catches the attention of Miroku & Sango, however Kagome just nodded slowly before excusing herself.
“You know, sometimes I forget you two grew up together.” Miroku comments as Sango looks towards where Kagome went, debating her next moves. I shrug Inuyasha’s arm off my shoulders & follow her, Sango not too far behind. We find her sitting under a tree in the park we had decided to meet up in. I sit next to her & give her a side hug. Sango sits across from her & takes her hands.
“Heartbreak is hard.” Sango tries to sooth her & says some more stuff. During her comforting prep talk I lean my head against Kagome’s. She rubs her head on mine & sighs. Once Sango is done Kagome offers a watery smile. We sit there for a few more minutes before Kagome states that she’s just gonna head home. Me & Sango walk her to her car before rejoining the boys. We decide to head to a cafe before going to the arcade. Looks like today just became a double date.
How we got here from there
Or, the long journey of a longform long-running webcomic about a long man with long wings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the spirit of @feathernotes and @phantomarine who have been talking about just starting your webcomic and not worrying about being "ready", I was inspired to do a post about White Noise's origin! I'm a little limited by the fact that I either left behind or destroyed a lot of the art I have from prior to 2009, so you'll have to take my word for it.
Cringe Truth below the cut!
The Cringe Truth of White Noise is that it has its roots in a Pokemon x Yu Yu Hakusho x self-insert(s) roleplay thread I used to do with an internet friend I made on Neopets guild forums way back in 2002-ish. We would come home from school every day and RP over AIM, and then when we had to get offline, whoever left first would email the other one, and we would continue via email until we were back on AIM at the same time.
Liya was my self insert.
Tumblr media
This isn't even remotely the earliest art of her, it's just the earliest I have on hand. I was drawing her for almost a decade by the time I drew this one. Imagine the earlier drawings as being like I traced over Sailor Moon characters that I printed out from deviantART and gave them a brown ponytail.
The funny thing is Liya really hasn't changed much from her original form! I also had loose brown curls that I kept in a ponytail 24/7 to the point that it showed when I had it down (which is why her hair is 'dented' like that). I did it because I was trans and didn't know it; she does it because she hasn't realized she can just cut it off and be butch yet.
Tumblr media
Other characters that date back from this time period: Yoshi (originally an InuYasha/Rurouni Kenshin pastiche), Hawk (I don't remember when he got wings but they were white at first), Numair (named after the Tamora Pierce character and filling a Koenma kind of role), Helly (sort of--I had an elf character named Kamui who had the same temperament, and he was eventually transmuted into Helly) and...Kurogane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've never named Kurogane but he appears in the background of the comic a few times, as my own personal inside joke.
Vlad came along somewhere between this RP period and planning the comic, but I can't remember when or why. I don't have drawings from that time (~2004?) but he was the first character I drew when I got a tablet for the first time.
Everyone else came along later when I started actually planning out the comic.
All this said: the reason I started White Noise as a weekly webcomic is because I wanted to learn to draw better.
At the time I was in college majoring in animation, but I didn't feel like I was learning very much at all (the program was badly structured; I had more art history classes than anything else. It was a mess.) I was also working nights in order to feed myself, and so had a lot of downtime. I had this story rattling around in my head from my RP days, so I figured, why not just give it a go?
For posterity here's a photo of a chapter 1 panel in progress, back in 2011 with my typical college diet in the bg:
Tumblr media
(Chapter 1 was originally pencil on paper, scanned in and colored in PS. I later re-drew it to make it fully digital to match with the rest of the comic.)
There's been a lot of talking about not waiting until you're 'ready' to start a webcomic, and I agree with that sentiment. Try framing it like this: making a comic every week for years and years will improve your art way more than any prep work you can do before starting the comic. It's like learning to swim. You can read about swimming all you want, but you're not going to really figure it out until you do it. If your early comics are bad, well, that's normal. It used to be an expected part of doing webcomics; I blame the shift into expecting webcomics to be polished from start to finish partly on commercialization in the space, but that's an angry rant for another time.
With this background, here's the collage I posted for WN's 10 year anniversary back in 2021:
Tumblr media
And now we're here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So do your webcomic. Put it on ComicFury or make a janky little site for it. Be okay with imperfect pages and be prepared to shout into the void for a while. Even if it's always a hobby, if it never makes you a dime or wins you any awards--that's fine! You'll be a lot happier if you learn not to worry about that stuff, and just make something that will help you grow and make you happy. We could do with a lot more work like that in the world imo.
Day One: Corruption - Inuyasha
Warnings: fem!reader, seduction, loss of virginity
Howdy! Let me know if you want to be on the tag list!
Taglist: @actuallysaiyan
Tumblr media
The conversation came up randomly one day. Inuyasha was sitting against a tree with his eyes closed. His hands were tucked inside the sleeves of his kimono, and his face remained stoic as the wind swept through his long white hair. At first glance, it would be easy to believe he was in a state of meditation. You’ve been traveling long enough with Inuyasha to know better than that. When he’s quiet like this it’s not that he’s calm or seeking inner peace, it’s because his thoughts are loud. You tried to entertain yourself by playing with the fire, poking at it with a stick, and watching leaves burn to ash when you threw them in. That can only keep someone occupied for so long. You crawled over to Inuyasha and placed your face close to him. At first, he didn’t seem to notice your presence, only betrayed by the slightest twitch of his dog ears. You gently blow on his ear, watching it flick as he lets out an annoyed groan.
“What are you doing?” he growls. As he turns his head to look at you, his eyes widen when he notices your close proximity. He almost loses himself in your eyes but then he scoots away. “What are you so close for?”
“What? You’ve never been close to a cute girl before?” you retort.
“Pft, you’re not a cute girl,” he says despite the way his cheeks flush.
“And of course I have!”
“Oh yeah? What’d you do?” you ask with a smirk.
“WHA— that is none of your business!”
The sight of him so flustered from your questions was enough to keep you entertained for a while. Inuyasha, being Inuyasha, didn’t let it go very easily either. For the rest of the night, he’d randomly burst with questions of your intent when bothering him that way.
As the days passed, you began to truly wonder if he’d ever been close to anyone intimately. Based on his reactions to any hint of flirting or closeness that struck between the two of you, you couldn’t help thinking he must be a virgin. Something about that excited you. Especially when you realize how many times in the past you and Inuyasha were close to sharing a passionate kiss. Perhaps he’s pulled away because he’s worried about admitting the truth. The thought of being the one to show him a world of pleasure makes your body get warm all over, and your mind runs wild with fantasies.
After a long stretch of travel without much rest, the two of you come to a village. Inuyasha is suspicious of everyone your paths cross, as usual, but eventually, you manage to talk him into going to an inn for the night. He stubbornly waits outside while you go in to speak with the innkeeper about getting a room for the night.
“How many guests?” the innkeeper asks politely.
“Two.”
“We only have one bed available for the night, is that okay?”
You hesitate for a moment, but then you realize this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
“That will be fine,” you smile. She tells you which room you’ll be in for the night, and you arrange for some hot water to be brought in for a bath. Then, you go out to tell Inuyasha the news.
“I got a room, but they only had one bed available,” you explain.
“One bed? That’s ridiculous! We can’t sleep in the same bed?”
“Why not?” you ask curiously. Immediately his cheeks break out into a bright red blush as he stutters over his words, trying to come up with an excuse while avoiding giving himself away. He relents but not without pouting the entire time he follows you to the room. You slide the door open to see the bath has been prepared in a corner with a pair of partitions for privacy.
“I’m gonna have a bath,” you tell him with a sweet smile.
You go over to the tub and close the partitions, but you set the lamp at just the right angle for him to be able to see your silhouette through them.
What you’re hoping for is for Inuyasha to see this and get excited. What you don’t know, however, is that he’s going downright crazy from the sight. As you take off your clothes, he can clearly make out the shape of your body. He can imagine himself holding onto the fat that rounds out your hips and kissing the curve of your tits. His whole body feels hot as his cock twitches in his pants. He’s almost disappointed when you sink into the bath, and he can no longer see your gorgeous form. He lets out a soft, frustrated growl and goes outside. He makes sure to slam the door as he leaves. If you didn’t know Inuyasha as well as you do, you’d mistake this for anger. Instead, you know, he’s just making sure your attention is still on him even if he’s gone.
Hours later, after having dinner, you lay down on the bed to rest. It’s late when Inuyasha returns. You can hear him as he takes off the top layer of his hakama, then he settles into the bed beside you. He keeps a bit of distance between you, but soon you’re closing it. You roll over and snuggle against his side.
“Stop that,” he groans and tries to push you away.
“But it’s cold,” you pout softly. He lets out an annoyed sigh, but then instead of trying to push you again, he wraps his arms around you. You lay your head on his chest and your hand rests on his stomach.
“Is this okay?” you ask softly, wanting to comfort him.
“I guess,” he huffs.
You lay close for a moment, then slowly begin moving your hand over his stomach. You lean in closer to press a soft kiss on his neck. Inuyasha shudders softly and his arms tighten around your body. You take this as a sign to continue showering him in affection. You leave a trail of kisses along the curve of his neck until you find the spot that makes him let out a small, almost incomprehensible, whimper. For a while you focus your attention there, sucking and biting softly, while also caressing his abdomen.
“W-what are you doing?”
“Do you like it?” you ask, your breath soft and warm against his skin. He doesn’t answer, and this makes you feel like you’ve made a mistake. You start to pull away, but his grip on you tightens. In the darkness of the inn room, you smirk at knowing you’ve gotten your way. You scoot a little closer so your body is pressed right up against his. Your hand moves down to his lower abdomen, and your fingers brush against the growing bulge in his pants. He lets out a strangled moan and his hips instinctively raise to meet your touch. You try to move your hand away, but he catches your wrist.
“Please,” he almost seems to be pleading. You begin palming him through his pants.
“Inuyasha, have you ever had anyone touch you like this?” His silence is all the answers you need. You promise yourself you’ll take care of him, and show him not just lust but love. You reach up to cup his cheek gently and pull his face closer. Finally, you pull him in for a soft kiss. He sinks into it almost immediately, his hand rests on your hip. He squeezes it as the kiss deepens. Your tongues rub against one another in a sensual dance. You moan softly.
“Can I take your clothes off?” you ask.
He nods eagerly and you sit up. You carefully remove the rest of his clothes until his muscular, strong form is laid out in front of you. You begin kissing him gently on his chest, then slowly down his stomach until you reach the line of white hair leading toward his cock.
“Do you want me to keep going?” you ask excitedly.
“Y-yeah,” he gasps.
You keep going, kissing down the white trail of hair until you’re kissing the base of his cock. You take him in your hand and begin stroking him slowly. His cock throbs in your hand, already reacting strongly to your touch. It’s not long before you feel a bead of precum drip onto your hand. You lick it off, following it all the way to the tip of his cock. He whines softly, and his hand tangles in your hair as you continue licking and sucking on the tip of his cock. Your tongue swirls around the tip of his cock and you let out a moan at the taste of him on your tongue.
“Shit,” he groans as he resists the urge to buck his hips. As you slowly sink down lower, he can already feel himself tinkering on the edge. He pulls you off his cock, and gives you a pitiful look that would be impossible for anyone to refuse.
“I need more,” he gasps. “Please.”
It doesn’t take any more begging for you to give in to his whims. After all, just the thought of showing him pleasure has been rattling your brain for weeks now and driving you crazy. You strip off your nightgown and straddle his hips. His hard cock presses against your hole as you settle on top of him. You don’t have time to ask for further consent before he’s grinding against you, practically begging for you to sink down on his cock.
Your hands rest on his chest as you take him inside of you. The feeling of your warm walls enveloping his cock is too much to bear. His hand rests on your hips as he watches you move. Your hips roll in a steady rhythm as you give both of you a moment to acclimate to his size stretching your hole. You increase your pace harder and faster until the sounds of both of your moans fill the air of the room. Your eyes are just starting to flutter closed when you suddenly feel warmth filling your core. Inuyasha practically howls with pleasure as he cums. You slow to a stop before pulling off of him. You’re content to teach him more about this new world of pleasure. You’re so excited about having finally crossed this threshold you don’t think twice about his premature cumming. You pull off his cock to settle beside him as he tries to catch his breath. You kiss his cheek and cuddle against him.
“I’m not done with you yet,” he growls softly as he pushes you onto your stomach.
Inukag Fluff Week, day 1: Comfort
This is sort of an... Interlude? If sorts? To my day one post from inukag week at the beginning of the summer. Either story can be read as standalones, but they are compliant w/ one another, and if you enjoy this, I think you'll enjoy that. This takes place after the exposition but before the dialogue starts in that one
@inukagfluffweek
~~~~~~
You're There in the Dark
"Inuyasha?" Kagome whispered tentatively into the darkness of the hut. The fire had long since died, and Sango & Miroku had gone to bed in the other room with their children and left Kagome and Inuyasha alone in the main room. Only starlight from the window illuminated the home, the moon dark but for the dim ring that marked its presence in the sky. Kagome sat up, leaning against the wall so she could spot the silhouette between the stars.
Every month for three years, she had glared at the black mark in the sky with disdain as she sneaked out to the well house, silently praying that whatever deity or force had opened the portal in the well to begin with would allow her through again. When she found herself on the dirt floor at the bottom, she instead pleaded for Inuyasha's safety, tears stinging her eyes as she looked up to the roof of the well house instead of the open sky she longed for, untouched by the light pollution of the city. She had only gotten precious few human nights with him, and they had almost always been dangerous if not deadly. And she knew - she knew - that the others would protect him, and there was no Naraku to threaten his safety anymore, but she couldn't be there. She couldn't protect him from whatever might try and hurt him, and she hated knowing that.
Now though, he lay beside her, just as he had for the two weeks since her return to the medieval period. He had clung to her almost from the minute she'd returned, rarely stepping out of arm's reach for more than a moment. It had been the most welcome change among many that she had embraced eagerly while reestablishing herself in the feudal era. Of course they still argued. Almost daily, even. But she was much less likely to storm off in a huff if she was arguing from Inuyasha's lap. From her first night back, when Kagome had crawled to where he'd been seated to sleep and tucked herself under his arm, they had made a habit of curling up together. She'd finally gotten him to lay beside her last week, rather than propping himself up against the wall, but he still put himself between her and the door, the same way he always had when they slept indoors.
Tonight, she had very intentionally gotten up with the excuse of getting a cup of water and returned to his other side, taking the spot closer to the door. Acting as a barrier between the man she loved in his most vulnerable state, and anything and everything that might seek to do him harm. He'd arched a brow at her, but she gave him a look that brokered no argument, and he made none, his face going a bit red in the low light of the small fire they had used to cook dinner.
Taking a deep breath, Kagome turned to look at the sleeping form besides her, smiling softly. His dark human hair was much less visible than his usual stark white in the barely-there light, but Kagome could make out the shape of his face, peaceful and relaxed by sleep. Reaching up, Kagome ran her fingers gently through his hair, tracing the shape of his human ear.
She couldn't see his eyebrows furrow, but she imagined they must have when she heard a soft grunt.
"K'gome?"
"Right here," She assured quietly, smoothing her fingers through his hair. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you.
She heard a soft huff of breath and the slide of fabric on fabric as he reached over, and she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist.
"Get back here, wench," he muttered, face half-pressed to her waist. Kagome giggled, stroking his hair again.
"I'm not going anywhere," she promised, smiling into the darkness. He stayed there a bit longer before rolling over, looking up at her from where his head now rested in her lap. Her hand came to rest on his chest, covered only by the white underlayer of his suikan. The fire rat overlayer, which they had used as a blanket when they first laid down, was now mostly crumpled beneath him.
"You okay?" He asked after a long moment of silence, and she could feel his eyes on her.
"... Do you remember the first new moon I spent with you?"
He was quiet for a beat, and then groaned softly. "Ugh. The spider priest."
"That's the one," she nodded, mirth in her voice as her fingers toyed gently with the collar of his shirt. "I think… that was the first time it really hit me that you weren't as indestructible as you seemed," she confessed, placing her free hand over her heart. "I'd seen you get hurt before that, but you'd always bounced back. When you told me to run, to save myself... I was so terrified that I was going to lose you."
"You let me lay in your lap like this then, too," he remembered after a moment, turning his head towards her stomach. "... It was the first time since my mother was alive that someone worried about my safety like that."
"And then I never stopped," she chuckled, smoothing his collar back into place. "I know how strong you are, and that you can handle most situations, but it's never stopped me from worrying."
She thought about the last few dark moons; it hadn't taken long for her family to catch on to where she was disappearing to. After she explained Inuyasha's night of vulnerability, they'd been their usual level of understanding. Often she'd wake up slumped against the well with a blanket over her shoulders, or with Sota curled up against her side. It got easier as time passed, but she had never once gone a new moon without feeling that visceral fear that something would happen on the other side of the well without her there to help protect him. The memory alone made the dull ache of the fear flare up again, and her fingers clenched in his shirt.
"Not once."
She looked down again when she felt his hand slide over hers, strong callused fingers wrapping around her own.
"When you were gone… I spent most new moons down the well," he confessed, the pad of his thumb running over the smooth skin of her wrist. "Once the others figured it out, they started coming with, sitting out in the field, so they were always nearby. I just… wanted to be close to you.
Kagome smiled softly, tears pricking at the back of her eyes. Blinking them back, she turned her hand in his, lifting his so she could kiss his knuckle.
"They say great minds think alike, but fools rarely differ," she hummed, lowering their clasped hands to his collar again. "And you know I've always been a fool for you."
The first gray light of dawn began to lend shape to their surroundings, and she could truly see him looking up at her now, his dark human eyes starting to go golden around the edges.
"I'm so glad you're here, Kagome," he admitted, squeezing her hand. She squeezed back, brushing his bangs out of his eyes.
"It's good to be home."
