hello everyone! I got an ask from an anon asking for tips on time management so i decided to type this out before school starts heheh…

poor time management and procrastination, unfortunately, plague just about all of us lol. people with a short attention span (like me) and who are pretty much always on their phone (me again) and who hate scheduling are the most susceptible to these.

over the years i struggled with time management(studying the night before the exam 🤙🏼) but! these are some tips that have helped me in scheduling, avoiding procrastination and improving time management.

1. Write it down

as always, we’re starting with BEFORE the actual task. write all tasks, assignments, projects and homework, test dates down somewhere (notebook preferably so that you dont lose it. it doesn’t have to be your bujo and you do not have to start a bujo for this specific reason!!!) and write the deadlines. this is subconscious pressure to do work once you get home. also, since you can see everything, it’s easier to schedule it out later

2. Use travel time

i cannot stress this enough!!!! sorry that it appears in all my tips posts but it truly is very useful. for short commutes, review the content you’ve learnt so that when you start on your homework, you’ve already got the hang of it. ie you dont struggle to understand the chapter and be put off from finishing your work because you hate it. long commutes can be used to complete work itself. i like to place some books and a file under my worksheet while i write (if i have a seat lol) or you can take this time to plan your time in greater detail

3. Actually plan your time

you dont have to fancy it up with like, brush pens and highlighters. just do something on google sheets or excel. divide the day into appropriate blocks of time.

for me, since i use a focus timer (50+10 or 100+20, rare cases i do 120 with a long break after that) i keep my days in 1hr blocks. so i’d block in about 1hour after i reach home to chill, clean up and so on, 2hrs for homework and the remaining time can be divided by hour/2hours to complete my work. you can tweak the timings to work for you but so far this one suits me pretty well.

4. NEVER RUSH YOUR HOMEWORK AND REVISION WHEN PLANNING!!!!

i repeat, never rush. because when you give only, say, one hour to review 3 chapters and you fail to do so within that time limit, you feel demoralised and hence, will not want to work more. this is a very common issue i believe. sometimes i would rush revise and when i couldnt stick to the timelines, i’ll feel so defeated that i’ll probably binge watch youtube to cure my self-pity LOL

give yourself an ample amount of time. Assign one or two hours a day as ‘delay time’ (this was my free time) so that you can catch up on anything that unfortunately, you couldn’t finish. Assign one day of the week to be the ‘delay day’ -- anything that you cant finish the week before, do it now. this means that you can still ‘save’ your plan even if it screwed up somewhere along the way. it works wonders, believe me! i used to have ‘delay hours’ after training where i would (ahem sadly) study from 2330-0030 if i needed to. while i was tired, i always got my work done.

5. Prioritise

this one needs no explanation. i usually choose which task to start on based on a combination of deadline+importance+graded/non-graded. i start early for graded assignments because they count towards my semester’s final grade and i want to hand up the best quality work i can. find a system which works for you! note: start project work and large assignments early.

you can assign simple tasks first to start the ball rolling, and proceed with harder tasks.

alternatively, if you’re at your prime focus, start with the hardest and scale down to the simple.

6. Make good use of holidays + Wake up early

ok i used to game a LOT and go to training a LOT (still happens now lol) during holidays but i wouldnt get any of my holiday work done.

do your holiday homework first. schedule your time well, and maybe stay home and resist the urge to go out for the first 5 days. finish all your work (again, schedule well) with breaks in between.

thereafter, schedule maybe 3-5 hours a day to revise. if you’re going out with friends, i’d suggest you wake up early to study because once you come home you’re usually dead tired HAHA

so how early is early?? during my o levels study break i would wake up at 0330 (yes, for real) but i slept at 2130 every night. so thats 6 hours of sleep wew but AT LEAST i was very productive. think about it this way: waking up early to study at 0330 makes you more productive than studying till 0330. you don’t have to wake up THIS early, but preferably early enough when the sky’s still dark so that you can fit in those extra hours. DO NOT sacrifice sleep. that’s why you can see i’m still sleeping my usual amount, albeit sleeping and waking earlier.

more perks of waking up early: its quiet outside, the air is cool, your mind gets into the ‘get shit done’ mode, and if you absolutely have to use your phone to search something up, your social media probably won’t be pinging. in other words, early mornings are actually a great time to study! remember to eat something though :>

7. Remove all distractions to prevent possible procrastination

YES i know this is the dreaded one. lock your phone somewhere inconvenient and put the key outside your room. or if you don’t lock it make sure your phone is far away from you as possible. please i know how deadly your phone can get so just put it away.

if you find yourself drifting away and looking at something else, remove that.

alternatively, change up your study environment. you don’t have to go to the library or something (you can if you want to). this is as simple as studying in a different part of the house. a new environment helps to ‘prick’ my mind and help me ignore distractions. i dont know if this is scientifically proven but oh well, worth a try.

8. 2-minute rule

this is something i picked up from @studyquill! it’s pretty helpful (although i was skeptical at first). Tell yourself you’re only going to work for 2 minutes, which helps you get into the workflow. chances are you’ll get so into it (ok not in an excited but rather in a determined way) that you don’t feel like stopping.

if you’ve had a long day and after 2 mins you still don’t get any momentum, just stop and take a 15 min break. that means you’re really too tired and there’s no point in forcing yourself to complete your work.

9. Use reminders

set reminders on your phone for the tasks you need to do. for example, if you’ve planned to start work at 1500, set the reminder to ring 5 minutes before so you have time to gather all your stuff and ready yourself to do work. no excuses!!

set reminders for your breaks as well! those are equally important.

10. Reward yourself

if everything you need to do is done, give yourself a pat on the back. have you been extremely productive? great, treat yourself to your favourite drink/snack. honestly i feel like many of our brains function on the ‘reward’ system. if we reward ourselves for a job well done, we’ll be more willing to complete tasks and stay on time in the future (the brain thinks there’s a reward coming)

remember to take care of your mental health as well! this is one good way to ensure you don’t end up mentally exhausted.

Apps to help with time management

1. Tide - focus timer, meditation, beautiful and calming soundtracks (my fav!)

2. Pendo - everything in one tbh, schedule, to-do list, journal etc. (my fav too!)

3. Forest - focus timer $$$ (free alternative: flora)

4. Donut Dog - focus timer

5. Todoist - minimalist to-do list

6. Minimalist - minimalist to-do list

7. Google Calender - your entire schedule

8. Todait - smart study planner

a quick search will bring out many more! note these are all available on iOS but i’m not sure about google play. you don’t need everything to be productive. i rely only on Tide, Pendo and my iPhone calender and reminders. It’s less about having many ‘tools’ and more about how you properly and wisely utilise them to boost your productivity and manage your time.

also i don't think pendo is very well-known?? so this is how its interface looks like for 'Notes':

im so jealous of people who can just buy vibrators or have them because i really want one but lord help me if my parents ever find it / see my purchase. like there's no way i could ever get one and it makes me emo

!!!!!! i had this issue when i lived in a dorm, and i helped my best friend navigate this. some pro tips:

1) bullet vibes!!! very small, can keep them hidden, usually quiet.

2) get ones with batteries. chargers that aren’t for iPhones or your usual devices can look sneaky, and are recognizable to people who have used them before

3) tampon boxes, pad boxes, a pair of socks under your bed/mattress, old shoes you keep in your closet, inside of an empty makeup/hair product bottle, a vase filled with stones + fake flowers, behind books on a bookshelf, under the cushions on a chair (like the kind that lift up but are sewn down) all make great hiding places that your parents aren’t likely to look in

4) get a visa giftcard to pay for it. if you need to explain that or you get caught with that, say it’s for a friend’s birthday or a donation drive at school or you won it in a prize draw at school. amazon also sells some low quality vibrators that get the job done, and amazon boxes aren’t sketchy looking. 

5) timing. re the visa gift card, you can say its a birthday/holiday gift from someone. order what you want when you know you’ll be home to get it before your parents (ie. summer break, spring break, christmas break), or ship it to a friend’s house and say its a wrapped gift for your mom/dad/sibling and you dont want them to see it. same excuses for visa gift card work. 

6) don’t leave it out, obviously. 

7) you could always get the one that looks like a lipstick tube. apparently they also make some that are disguised as hairbrushes now 

and if all of that fails or you’re still not comfortable:

1) shower heads exist sis

2) lots of things can become sex toys if you clean them properly

1. how old are you?

im 18!

2.  are you in high school or college(university)?

3. what year or grade are you in high school or (university)? 

im a freshman in college

4. what is your school’s grading system look like? do you like it? what problems do you have with it, if any? 

so my university has a standard letter grade system for most classes and pass/fail for some courses that don’t really need a grade. i do like it because it’s what i’m used to, however, a lot of times having a letter grade system can be more stressful because it makes you feel like anything but some kind of A is mediocre and not good enough, when in reality, a 75% or above is better than average.

5. if you are in high school do you plan on going to university or college? if you are in college do you plan on finishing and if you do, do you plan on continuing on to other graduate or professional schools? 

i plan on going to veterinary school after i finish my undergraduate degree! if i end up changing my major to my second choice(music education is my second choice), then of course I won’t be going to vet school.

6. if you are high school what do you plan to study in college, if you plan to go. if not, what do you plan on doing after high school? if you are in college what is your major? do you plan on changing it? 

i am currently studying biochemistry and molecular biology and i have a minor in music! i dont plan on changing it at this point, but if i do, i’d change it to music education.

7. why are you picking or why did you pick what you are currently studying? 

i want to go to vet school, and biochemistry has almost all the requirements for vet school admissions. also, i find it interesting

8. do you go/plan to go to community college, technical college, or a four-year institution? how did you make your decision, or how do you plan to?

i am at a 4 year university, and i went here because it fits what i want to do

9. what factors did you consider when picking a college, or what factors do you plan on considering? 

the college I chose is in my hometown, which is probably one of the deciding factors(i really wanted to be close to home). the campus is very pretty and small as well, and i really wanted to go to a small college. i could have potentially gone to The Ohio State University because i’m about 20 minutes away, but the camous is so big and i know i would have hated it. the school also has a good music program, soi can continue playing even though it isn’t my major

10. what is your favorite pencil?

i love my muji mechanical pencil and also the papermate clearpoint!

11. what are your top three favorite pens?

pilot juice, muji gel pens, and sharpie pens

12. do you prefer wide-ruled paper, college-ruled, dot-grid, or graph paper? 

college ruled is my favorite for class notes, graph paper for revised/nice notes/math work, and blank for planning generally

13. do you use different types of paper for different courses or classes?

i use college ruled for almost everything except math homework(i use graph)

14. do you use a backpack/bag for school or college and what kind is it? why did you choose it? price, quality, function, design? 

i use a backpack, i have no idea what brand it is, but its the perfect size for everything i need to take to classes and its also really pretty(it has a black background with flowers on it)

15. what is your favorite outfit to go to class in and why? 

i generally wear leggings and a sweatshirt/sweater just because they’re comfy and also look cute! if its warm enough, i wear flip flops but if not, i wear my vans or converse.

16. what is something you always have to have in your backpack or bag?

usually my laptop and pencil case

17. what is your least favorite subject and why? 

math!!!!!!! will always hate. guarunteed. 

18. have you ever gone to tutoring, if so, how has it helped your academic endeavors? 

i have not

20. has your mental health ever suffered during high school or college, and what did you do to cope? 

holy shit yes. i suffer from depression and anxiety(depression for almost a year and anxiety for 4 years). i could make a whole post about this but in general, i make sure i give myself time to relax. it can be so so hard to take care of yourself when you suffer with things like this, so even if you can barely get out of bed, try to make time to do things that make you happy. for me, it’s drawing, netflix, and video games.

21. do you like to listen to music when studying? if so, what genre, if you have a playlist share it!

22. do you prefer to study at a library or at home at your desk?

depends what i’m working on and how much i have to do. if i feel like i have to be totally focused, i go to the library, but if i have some time to take breaks and get distracted, i just stay in my room. I also hate going to the library on my own, so sometimes i stay in my room anyway if no one can come with.

23. what are your top three items you keep on your desk?

my lamp, my laptop, and whatever drink i’m drinking while working( i always have a drink so i avoid snacking lol)

24. do you feel as if you are more productive during the day or in the evenings? 

evenings for sure

25. if you exercise, do you feel as if it affects your productivity and if so how? 

i do marching band which is usually my exercise, but i don’t work out. working out just exhausts me and i don’t have energy to begin with(ye ye depression)

26. do you participate in any extracurriculars and if so how do you manage your time?

marching band and wind ensemble! i’m also joing KKPsi, which is an honorary fraternity for music service! i am not great at time management, however, i plan out everything to hold myself accountable

27. do you use a bullet journal, a planner, or to-do lists? do you use a combination of all three? 

i use a combo of all three! i’ve been bullet journalling a lot recently, but i also use a planner during busy weeks when i dont have time to make a spread and i make to do lists for weekends

28. do you have a note-taking style?

nothing specific

29. do you have a color-coding system?

i like to make every different topic/spread a different color. also, when i make notes, i like to highlight vocab words.

30. what do you believe is one of the most overrated studyblr trends? 

100 days of productivity. its impossible to be completely productive for 100 days straight. shit happens, and i understand the purpose of the 100 days challenge, but i think it also takes a toll on you mentally.

31. what are your career goals, how do you plan to reach them? 

i want to be a veterinarian or someone that works with animals somehow. i hope to go to vet school and then have my own practice or join another practice.

32. do you use a laptop? if so which model? how does it perform, would you reccomend it? if not, what model would you like?

i use a macbook air! it is nice because it is easy to transport, but occasionally the functionality can be questionable(storage space is always my issue). i do reccommend it, though. if i could get a new laptop, i’d probably get a macbook pro. 

33. do you use a tablet? if so which model? how does it perform, would you reccomend it? if not, what model are you interested in?

i don’t, but i think having an iPad would be nice!

34. if you post pictures to tumblr, do you use a camera or your phone, if so, what is the model? 

i use my iPhone 6s

i tend to study for a majority of the day most days, but it always differs. i have no set timetable

so i am in 8 courses right now. Biology, Gen Chem, Bio Lab, Gen Chem Lab, Calculus I, The History of rock n roll, Wind Ensemble, and Marching band.

39. how long until you graduate? in credit hours, semesters, or years?

i still have 3.5 years left of college, which is 7 semesters

honestly i dont remember, it was so long ago

i was in a big funk my sophomore year of high school. i had no motivation, i hated learning, i hated everything tbh. but them i found this community and it inspired me and showed me that studying can be fun and pretty while also being a learning experience!

43. what is something you are too afraid to be involved in at school or college and why? 

 in high school, i was very afraid to get involved with a lot of things, such as theatre and some other clubs just because of anxiety.

i write them mostly, but my biology professor talks really fast so i usually type notes for his class

netflix, eat, play video games, probably other stuff i’m forgetting

honestly i just look through lecture notes and hope for the best. occasionally i do practice problems but not often

i rewrite them because it helps me memorize things

math of any kind! i also hate biology right now just because my professor sucks

i recently got out of a relationship, but im open to being in a relationship with someone

it was very hard to manage it honestly, but i did what i could to make time, even if it was only just having a meal together.

if i find the right person, yea! being in relationsips is great, especially because you have a companion to help you when you’re struggling

52. do you worry about GPA, if so why, if not why?

oh my god yes i do. i have to have a certain GPA to keep my scholarship money and to stay in the honors program, plus i just want to do well.

53. did you or do you plan to take the SAT or ACT, how did you feel about the exams? did you study for them? have you taken it more than once?

i did take both the SAT and ACT. i did well on each, but the SAT was a lot harder for me. I got a 1220(i think) on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT. i took the ACT twice

54. did you or do you plan to take the GRE, LSAT, PCAT, MCAT, DAT (or any other grad exam)? how did it go? how are you or how did you study for it? have you taken it more than once? 

i’m going to take the MCAT

yes i did take AP classes! i took 9 total, and they overall did help me learn how to manage time better as well as how to study. we weren’t required to take the exams, but i always did

56. do you or did you do the IB program in high school? can you explain it more for those who are unfamiliar with it? 

i did not, however the IB program is basically an intensive high school honors program that is very writing intensive. its like AP on steroids

57. do your or did you take dual-enrollment classes? how did you feel about how they prepared you for college? 

i didnt but i wish i did!

58. how many colleges or universities did you apply to or not? and why?

i applied to 5 colleges. i already knew where i wanted to go, but i wanted to be safe just in case i didnt get in, so i applied to the 5 i was most interested in. I also wanted to see if any other schools would give me a lot more financial aid.

59. how did you make friends in college or high school?

through band! in both situations

60. has your friend group stayed the same throughout your time in school?

yes actually! i’m still very close to all my high school friends and a few of them go to my college as well. of course i’ve met new people but i. also still have the same friends

61. how does your friend group influence your goals?

we all have our own goals, we just encourage each other and act as an outlet for stress

62. what is your favorite thing to learn about in your free time?

music and current events

63. what is your favorite study snack?

i like to eat carrots/pretzels with hummus or oreos

being depressed or tired

65. are there days during the week that you keep completely free from studying? 

yes. wednesdays are my hell days class-wise, so i refrain from doing work on those days after my classes are over

67. are your parents or family supportive of your goals? if so how does this affect you? 

they’re very supportive!

i really love reading but i never have time

coffee with full caffeine! i always add creamer, and i drink it because it wakes me up

i have notebooks for every class and binders as well

i either recycle them if they won’t be necessary anymore or i keep them in my closet

75. what is the biggest impact a teacher or a professor has had on you?

my band director was very impactful on my life just because he was my teacher for 5 years, so we had a good relationship

my film and lit class had a massive impact on me. it made me think in very different ways

77. who is your inspiration and who do you look up to academic wise and career wise? 

my dad inspires me a lot because he worked so hard to find a career he loved and kept going until he got there. he’s also endlessly supportive of me

Mirror mirror on the wall,

When I was a kid, I always wanted the perfect family, the perfect grades in school, the perfect fashion sense, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect wedding at the most perfect beautiful venue, the perfect kids 1 boy and 1 girl, the perfect health, the perfect kind of body shape too, the perfect kind of set of clique to be hanging out with where the jocks the nerds the popular the rich the poor the braniacs will actually kill to just sit with me and my crew you know what I mean?

I always envisioned myself to be making it as well and successful for my future. I damn hell, seen it, I damn hell even dream about it. It comes to a point that I was as confident that nothing will ever go wrong in my life. Because I was that, certained. That, determined.

Here I am now after 26 years, sitting infront of my bedroom mirror and looking back at myself. You would be wondering wether I am a famous author now? Or maybe a teacher of a literature subject? Or maybe even a doctor or a lawyer? But hell, none of it was even close.

I flopped in my grades, I rised again when I pursued my Diploma, I got myself entangled with boys and than kept getting my heart broken over and over and over again. I picked up dancing and grew to love it, got deeper into it and committed myself to it, wanted it as my career but than reality kicks in and in the country I am living in Arts is not really recognized as well in America, etc. I mixed with all sorts of people from all different walks of lives, trusted people too fast and gave my all without any hesitations to a point of losing myself and my temple, when I meant temple, its the most greatest and respectable part of a woman, the whole of a woman, a woman's body, well been touched in the ways i never imagined nor was I giving it away to ever have to be the victim, went through trauma and bad anxiety and sucks that I got deeper into a heller pit till I certainly got too strayed to a point I don't even remember who and what I was really living for whereby not long after I went in prison for 6 months seen the other side of the world that I never expected I would ever have to see, met all sorts of people that had their own individual different reasons of their sentences and well when you bumped into an old friend outside or whatever it would be on the normal daily basis kinda questions like "what you having for lunch?" Or "how are you? How's the party coming along? And your new job?" but instead it was "how long you in for?" Or "whats your offence?" In prison you don't get to even see the buildings, you don't get to breathe the fresh air, you don't even get to see the sun from where the rays is shining from, you dont get to eat on a table or take your food from a tray its from a door hole at the bottom like how a dog is being fed for their meals. Sure, you pay for what you did. Whatever shit you did, You gotta face it. I well aware of.

Coming out from prison was a relief yet it was a nightmare, it was scary to not see the trees nor grass at all and you are...finally being able to see and smell that its just refreshing but the challenges are surreal that it seems never ending. Again my heart was as open and ready, I dated and tried, dated and tried, got my hopes up and its still not right. Failed relationships were never ending. It hurts to be honest cause its not fair, you're just in it a 101% because its for fucking love man. But people play you like a card of tricks, this motherfuckers aint got shit on me. But yet they managed to break my heart because I allowed them to.

But I'm gonna stop right here, losing your partner infront of you is 1 thing, being assumed and talked abt is another, wishing you could have done shit sooner is also another beating yourself up about it is also another but taking in every single shit that life throws at you when you're out living on the streets alone is another, the challenges like I said were never ending its like a triumph. There is so much more than just dwelling about whatever has happened they say, certain things I have let go. But when you look back and you start to have that late night self thoughts, you're just overwhelmed with emotions because you never expected shit to be shittier as you grow older.

They say that's life you gotta suck it up, but here is the thing my heart can only, take so much at one go, my heart can love and hate in a split of a blink moment but will my heart be able to take hold and withstand more challenges that would be coming my way in the long run? You know there is so much only one can take. There is points of time where I would consider taking my own life. Have I done it? Yes? Did i try? Yes? Was I suicidal to a point I would google the ways to actually end my own life? Yes? Was it worth it? NO.

This post is only 2/4 of my life that I've faced and there is another 2/4 that I've not shared. Maybe I will? When I am ready. Maybe I'll find my happiness again? Maybe I will be better in time to come? Maybe I will be able to surpass all the bad that has happened to me and change it to a positive outlook of it, only when I am ready, will I be ready to face life as what life will offer me in the future. But for now, honestly, I am tired. Grieving is one thing, thinking of my future is another, numbing this pain inside of me is another, pretending I am okay is another, acting like I am sane and composed when actually my mind is going crazy and I'm waiting to burst, hunger for my passion is another, trying to be strong everyday isnt easy too thats another struggle, you're just lying to yourself you're okay everyday till you actually just believe you are okay to a point that you don't even know if you really are really okay? You see dealing with foul mouths and shitty people is also another? But tryna become a better person by heart and character is also another.

I could type it all out here, leave it on the net for yall to binge to, have a thought or so? and have you in my shoes for a couple of minutes really livin through the shit I went through. Q1: How often you use these apps? 

A1: Bible I use everyday , Dayforce I used to (before quarentine) check at least twice a week and then the last two from time to time its more spontaneous. 

Q2:  Why you use these apps? 

A3: I use Bible because I am Catholic and wanted to initially read more scripture, now I genuinely like it, especially reading the bible passages of the day which they post daily. I use Dayforce for my job, it allows you to request time off, check your schedule , switch with other employees and contact them if needed for any reason. I would check it weekly for my work schedule.  Voice memos I use for one of two things, either to talk or vent to my friend when either of us get sick of typing via text and cant talk on the phone we memo eachother and listen/ respond to one another when able. The second way I use Voice Memo is to sing, singing is one of my interests and I sometimes will record myself singing so I can detect where I hit bad notes vs good notes so as to improve it in the future. I use Notes also spontaneously, either for grocery lists or im pretty careful about doing this but if I really need to I will store passwords in Notes. I also write in notes, I like to write poetry/song lyrics from time to time and when I get a good idea and dont have a paper or pen on me I just record it in my phone under notes, which is why it is more spontaneous. 

Q3: How have these apps changed your life? 

A3: They have allowed me to be more organized, connected to my working community and enabled me to channel some of my creative interests when able. 

Q4: What did you do before you installed and started using them? 

I always really had Notes since I have had an Iphone. Before that I would write in note books or online journels. For Dayforce, I didnt need it before I started my job so it was irelevant. Voice memos, I would just text my famous novel texts (im long winded unfortunately) or call ( i remember as a kid when home phones or even old fashion wall phones were a thing, wireless and then later flip phones were a big deal!) Singing wise,  I would probably just break a few windows with my voice and then forget about it haha nah Idk I would just sing from time to time when no one was around and then yeah forget about it! As for the Bible if I couldnt get this app I probably would have just got my own hard copy to read. I like to have both though because one is easy and on the go and has cool features and the hard copy I can read for longer spans of time.  

Q5: Is anything that could happen that would make you stop using these apps ? 

A5: The power and wifi fails (hopefully not!!!), I get an old school phone and drop apple or more on specific details, for Dayforce , if I stop working at my job and no longer need the app, and the others Ill always keep, unless some other event prevents it or I get a new phone.

So long story short -- I totaled my car in an accident which was my fault back in December, and unfortunately did not have collision coverage on my insurance policy. Its still a prototype, and only safely dismantles an iPhone 5, but it also separates and sorts recyclable and hazardous materials. The Right-to-Repair movement would make a lot more sense to me if it focused solely on industrial technology. Farming and manufacturing equipment are, increasingly, filled with hard-to-repair solid-state components. When theres millions of dollars (and potentially: infrastructure) on the line, it makes sense to ensure that businesses, farms, even governments can repair this equipment, as opposed to simply having to replace it.

The Repair Association has, in fact, considered pursuing something less inclusive. Gordon-Byrne pointed me to Wyoming and Kansas, two states considering legislation tailored to farm and ranching equipment. On its Wyoming Bill page, though, The Repair Association says it would like to see the bill be adjusted to include all digital equipment.

Too new to fail

If Right-to-Repair succeeds, Gordon-Byrne sees a lot more people getting trained and going into business for themselves as technicians. It could be a booming business.
