Violet’s hazel eyes are blue like Sgaeyl's; as is the color of her lightning signet, & amber like Xaden’s eyes become—Xaden the one she chose, as did Sgaeyl… Xaden who chose them both, the same as Tairn; whose scales are dark as night & as Xaden’s signet of shadows, eyes of onyx—with gold-flecks, like Andarna… Andarna who chose black scales like Tairn, who chose to keep secrets only her rider could know like Sgaeyl, who chose to break the rules like Xaden, for Violet with ever-changing eyes the color of Andarna’s true scales; Violet who she waited centuries to emerge for, Violet who finally becomes who she was truly meant to be too as all the secrets are unraveled.

I think the irids live underwater, it explains why they haven't been found, why they enter it when they're with Andarna, why Andarna likes it and the other dragons don't, and why the Herodotians are afraid of the water

anyone else feel super gaslit and pissed tf off during onyx storm when the irids were basically blaming violet for exploiting feathertail andarna (even though they admitted to using andarna as a test subject, a criterion of whether humans would achieve peace) and causing her to become an "abomination" and a weapon (aka develop w/ a disability as a direct result of having to grow up too fast due to the war and danger she'd had to face, the circumstances where they abandoned her, which violet consistently tried to shield andarna from but humans can't tell dragons what to do, and neither could tairn/the empyrean bcuz andarna is the oldest of her den bcuz the irids left her alone) and basically saying the war is the humans' own problem navarrian mindset despite venin being an issue for all of the magic everywhere and the hatching grounds of the dragons themselves, which is why dragons chose to start bonding over 600 years ago in the first place??

when andarna told them they were privileged that they'd never had to experience war and instability ?? that was real as FUCK. peak clapback and from a teenager too, they should've been embarrassed (i get that xaden didn't help their case at all but they were already leaving and had spewed sm bs)

and even later on, when leothan did come to help "get" andarna and basically tell her he'll teach her their ways and she'll find her truth (manipulative much), etc and even violet in her guilt thought to herself "he's the only one of her kind willing to accept her" HE'S THE ONLY ONE OF HER KIND WILLING TO CHANGE HER

idk i hated them, their arguments were all so stupid and perhaps it is bcuz their culture is so much different than that of the empyrean and so disconnected from anything happening at the continent bcuz we know andarna waited hundreds of years to hatch until she heard abt a scrawny to-be scribe girl with the heart of a rider, like a prophecy almost, and she knew she had to pick her like violet literally risked her life saving her at threshing ??

The sound of something hitting the ground seems to echo in the otherwise empty library. Reflexively Crowe’s nose scrunches up when he felt something as small as a pebble hits it. Light enough to not hurt. But not quite light enough for him to not notice. Instinctively, he reaches up to touch his nose, momentarily surprised, then looks around in bewilderment. Only for you to giggle and scoot closer, "you were supposed to catch it in your mouth and eat it you silly!"

Confused, he eyes your mischievous grin as you hold up another tiny toffee to him once more. Slowly, a smile began to spread, and soon he's holding his stomach while doubling over with laughing, the absurdity of the situation finally sinking in.

The streaks around his eyes are her lightning. He wielded to save the people Violet loves—caressed her with shadows in those final moments of the Storm.

He is her home, yet she will be the death of him.

it kinda just clicked for me that archdragons have their name name and then the title they receive(?) as an archdragon, ie "anak araw" -> "sol regem", which is really cool but like *shakes by the shoulders* WHERE ARE ZUBEIA AND AVIZANDUM'S!!! WHERE ARE THEY!!!!!!

There's no air and no reason to seek it. —was it for Violet who stops breathing because something in her dies then too, infinite and nothingness, existing but without the sun— I was infinite yet moored, and now I'm hollow and adrift in waters too vast to comprehend. — and it’s not even Andarna who breaks it; she couldn’t do it, couldn’t leave her, that’s why she goes to Violet and realizes she can’t hear her or understand😭😭😭 …and then Tairn goes and lets Violet hear everything so she isn’t alone… and she has to survive, exist, live; for Xaden (even Tairn is fine with it if it keeps her alive, because he knows the grief too) it’s why Sgaeyl is furious and accuses Andarna of leaving — How could she do this? — she feels the pain Violet through Tairn feels, she’s a little mama bear too for Violet that time.
