Violet’s second signet

Here me out, I could be wrong, but I think Violet’s second signet is tied to the runes.

Rebecca has said that Violet’s signet from Andarna has manifested and she uses it in Iron Flame. Well, every time Violet creates lightning, she consciously pulls from Tairn’s power.

And when do we see her consciously pull from the stream of Andarna’s magic in her Archives? When she’s creating the runes for class.

And signets are manifested out of the rider’s biggest need. What has been Violet’s strongest need the entire book? To buff the wards, to understand the lost magic of the runes that protect the people she loves. To know how everything works so she can make sure it can continue to work. And Andarna is significantly linked to the ward stones and runes.

I think Violet will be able to weave or create runes that most people can’t or that most people have forgotten about. They’re made from a lost language that she can read (one of the few who can).

And I think she’ll be able to combine both of her signets together to save the godsdamn world. She wields pure energy (that’s what her primary signet is) - who’s to say she wouldn’t be able to create a powerful enough rune embedded with that power and funnel pure energy, pure magic, back into the earth where it’s been stolen by venin?

Thought dump on signets - Spoilers

Spoilers for fourth wing - kinda

Chapter 4: "... but the signet is the unique ability that stands out, the strongest skill that results from each unique bond between dragon and rider" Chapter 8: "Signets are the result of the unique chemistry between rider and dragon and usually say more about the rider than the dragon. The stronger the bond and the more powerfull the dragon, the stronger the signet" [Noalin x Tairn: siphoning: absorbing and redistributing - huh sounds kinda like a nice-venin-version-power] "... there's no signet capable of resurrection" Capter 19: "A signet is a combination of our power with your own ability to channel. It reflects who you are at the core of your being" Chapter 20 (?): "The signet is all about me..."

Chapter 29: "And it's not like I can blame this power on Tairn, not that I would. Signets are based on the rider, just fuled by the dragon, which means this has always been there under the surface, just waiting to be unleashed. ..." So... either Violet gets more powerfull or she manifests a second signet. Could be resurrection? Or turning venin back to normal people/stopping their siphoning? Or something nice and hopeful considering Andarnas character (if that plays a part)? Feel free to dump your thoughts :D

Mending makes no sense, actually

Violet describes it as "the power to fix, to restore, to return anything to it's original state --- from ripped cloth to pulverized bridges, including broken human bones." This is literally just isolated time reversal. Wtf do you mean it's a healing signet? Why does it leave a scar on the person's body if they got stabbed/cut/impaled? That's not returning something to its original state, that's speedrunning the healing process.

Finished up Iron Flame and I have a thought about Violet's second signet. I know Rebecca Yarros said that all the clues are there about that second signet.

Here's what I think:

I think that Violet's second signet is the power to draw the right conclusion/discern solutions or something like that. Xaden has the ability to glean intentions, so there's no reason hers can't be something of the same ilk. The only thing stopping her from being an unstoppable leader is other people questioning her. She has the mind of a scribe (the knowledge) and the heart of a rider (the ability to act). So far she's been able to figure things out that others haven't in situations big and small as long as she has pertinent information.

Iron Flame Theory

This post contains spoilers for Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Please do not spoil this amazing book for yourself by reading this theory.

To start: If we look at the cover for Fourth Wing, there are two dragons (A golden dragon in the center and a black dragon around the edge.) As first time readers, we did not see this major foreshadowing. Once we have read Fourth Wing, however, we know that these are depictions of Andarna and Tairn. We also know that Mrs. Rebecca Yarros is amazing at telling us major details in a way we completely over look it. (I.e. Dain's ability to read recent memories...)

Slight topic change: What could Violets second signet be? Personally, I do believe Violet will be getting a second signet that she channels from Andarna. There has been a lot of thoughts and theories regarding what Violet's second signet might be. My favorite theory is from Fantasy Fangirls Podcast: Violet's second signet will be offensive, since her first is defense.

Using all this information, I think that Violet's second signet will be light wielding, or something similar. If we look at the cover of Iron Flame, we again see Andarna in the center. This time, however, she is surrounded by rays of sun. In Fourth Wing, Andarna tells Violet that nature likes all things in balance (I am unsure of page number.) The harmony between Xaden wielding shadows and Violet wielding light is a beautiful image, and it would keep everything in balance. I feel that Violet would not be able to do much defensively with this ability, it would be more offense. For example, she would be able to shine a bright light to allow the rebellion to get closer to the other front line without the enemy being able to see. (Extra points if Xaden used his shadows to cover the rebellion within the light!)

I am just a girl that has a major obsession with this book. I am grasping at straws, I know, but let me know your thoughts! This isn't a theory I have seen anywhere else, so I wanted to share.
