His general incompetence over anything and everything.

He did drag and crossdressing when he was younger and did performances. His exact gender identity is unknown, mainly due to lack of terminology during the time, but he was gender-spicy for certain.

Raging bisexual and considerably open about it in his memoirs for the time period.

Loves his wife. Turns into a bumbling mess whenever he writes about her. She was a badass btw. I can't blame him.

Killed Rasputin WITH the help of his lover, Dmitri. Pretty sure those two shacked up afterwards.... but you know.

He actually planned to do a lot of charitable work with his family's money and estates, including opening museums and restoring wetlands and such, but the other nobles hated the fuck out of this idea and also the revolution kind of forced him out of the country before he could try.

Pathetic. Absolute fool.

According to his own accounts of the assasination, he passed out and fell down the stairs after killing rasputin. This is why he wasn't there when they disposed of the body. All adaptations omit this event.

His memoir Lost Splendor is marketed as "the amazing memoirs of the man who killed rasputin" but it is only 20% about rasputin and 80% random shit he pulled as a kid. Tom Sawyer type shit. This book is genuinely one of the most entertaining things I think I have ever read. One day I might make a comic adaptation.

Hadn’t mention before but I love listening to Sugi’s dubbed voice. For someone who shares a voice actor with the loud mouth that is Katsuki Bakugo his voice is nice to listen to

Welp that’s it. That was a good ass episode that we as a fandom should talk about more! It’s season 1’s version of leader time to me. In fact it’s part of my top ten favorite episodes of the series (I really need to make a list) I don’t say it that much but Sugino as a character brings me so much serotonin so watching this episode was a joy for me! Combined with the fact that I love baseball this episode was an absolute delight.

I keep forgetting how bad I feel for Shindy boy here. Like, he was just slightly cocky and he ended up getting manipulated left and right. Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up having nightmares about the 3-E students sniping him in his sleep or something.

multiple POVs with no names for chapter titles so you have to figure out who it is from context clues - if you're like me and love a little puzzle to go with your reading time, you'll really enjoy it (Novik does it VERY well) but if you get confused easily or don't wanna put in the brainpower its annoying and overly complicated

if you don't like enemies-to-lovers where they actually argue and are ideologically opposed, you're not gonna enjoy the romance subplots. this is not a 'forbidden-lovers' kinda enemies-to-lovers. this is firmly in the 'my husband misses me a lot - but his aim is getting better!' zone

really quick wrap up - it gets tied up a little too fast after the final confrontation with the Big Bad. i wouldve liked at least to have irina POV at the end because her side of things just. gets left hanging

Summary: Miryem is a daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, and though her father doesn't have the hardheartedness to be a good one, she'd rather be despised for what she's owed than starve. Her knack for the trade, coupled with her sharp tongue, draws the ire of her village, and even more alarmingly, the Staryk's attentions; faerie creatures who only covet gold, they take her offhanded boast that she can turn silver into gold quite literally, and show up at her door to hold her true to her careless words - which, honestly, kind of backfires on them when she rises to the challenge and upends their realm into complete disarray, so maybe there's a lesson there for the next group of nonhumans to learn: don't bet the house against a human girl whose Had Enough Of All This Bullshit. She might win.

Concept: 💭💭💭 I don't know Rumpelstiltskin's story very well, and Ice Kingdom aesthetics aren't my favourite (you can blame it on my residual dislike of Frozen), but I DID read Uprooted before this. I wasn't as into the book blurb as I was with Uprooted, but I'm an experienced (and opinionated) enough reader to know when to trust my gut - if I find an author's writing style easy to read, and I enjoy how they handle their themes, I'm not afraid of diving into deep waters. If it's that bad, I can always DNF

Execution: 💥💥💥💥 As I've come to expect with Novik's writing, a wonderfully easy read; the storytelling voice flows smoothly and makes me want to keep on reading. No slogging through difficult to understand passages and too slow pacing for me! I instantly wanted to collect every POV character like puppies in a basket, no matter how brief their sections were. I will say the ending does forget what it wants to say and simply ends on a happy note, instead of a complete thought. It doesn't tie in the POV characters together strongly enough - I would've loved to see an epilogue scenes with the 3 main female characters supporting each other, or at least being three distinct Bad Bitches!

Personal Enjoyment: ❤❤❤❤❤ Mostly because of Irina and Miryem (and Wanda)'s absolute BDE. They truly brought their stories to life and felt very dynamic, constantly driving the story forward through their actions, especially because their personalities and characteristics were so well-suited to the challenges they faced (Miryem rules-lawyering the Staryk, Irina taking to politics, Wanda keeping faith despite all the shit she's been through). Honorary shoutout to the complete hilarity of Mirnatius's POV (though ultimately it IS more indulgence than necessity, I respect Novik for it) - may he spend the rest of his life desperately drawing his wife in vain search of her bad angles!

Favourite Moment: the running gag of mirnatius losing his fucking mind trying to prove irina isn't hot. you know that post that's like 'find a blorbo to draw and your art skills will start improving so much faster'? irina is his blorbo. special mention of the scene he gets jealous realizing a random guard has a crush on his behated wife and immediately jumps to the conclusion that irina would want to fuck the guard for the sake of the kingdom. babygirl the hoops you are jumping........where is this gymnastics routine even going 😭 this man is not beating the meow meow allegations..

Favourite Character: It's really a tie between Miryem and Irina, who are both so similar yet different at the same time. Miryem's BDE was enjoyably explosive - she throws it in everyone's face, which is perfect to play off of the Staryk's otherworldly impassiveness. Irina's BDE was a lot more...steely. Quietly coming into her own as she realized how adept she was at politics, and how perfectly well-suited that made her to being tsarina - and when they finally met each other? it was so funny when were like 'hey...why dont we kill our husbands via pokemon battle??'

UPDATE: Decided to fix my issues with the Montero siblings, I didn't like their designs fully. I also added Basil to this post given he's closely tied to our Lesbian cat-witch duo and is often hanging around them. (They have more outfits too ofc, these are just the ones they tend to wear a lot)

The bow in Irina's cardigan serves as the top button as well, and sometimes she wears it with only that button closed.

Her cardigan mimics her actual sorceress robes and is custom made.

She can transform her umbrella into a blade or a whip, and use it as a shield or float with it. or just to smack when her kitty is being mischievous

she has a yellow sleeveless top and black leggings under her cardigan and boots; She mostly dresses more modern, but does have more traditional outfits too she might put on occasionally.

Irina was adopted by a Winter Warlock (whose patron is Jack Frost) called Marcus Vasile, when she was a toddler. She was abandoned there by her family who didn't know what to do with her magic powers

Marcus is a Romanian noble, or has noble heritage to be exact, though he's mostly seen as an eccentric rich hermit, or was before he got himself a daughter. (His family does originate from the mirror realm - also known as Ether, where all magic on earth comes from)

Reina is from a special werecat family that are also known as Stormbringers, as each member has an elemental power somehow connecting to storms. Reina's is wind element.

Reina is close with her older brother Basil, whose element is lightning; they bicker and fight a lot (Loudly, typically in Spanish), but make for a badass fighter team once they work together.

Same can be said about Reina and Irina, although they don't actually physically fight, just bicker a lot.

Reina is a hotheaded goofball, whereas her brother is more of a chill asshole; both ultimately mean well most of the time though.

Basil is Bisexual, he later develops a thing to Marcus' acquaintance's pupil, Hayden Faylune.

Favorite character: Tie between Karma and Nagisa, each for different reasons. Shuu is an extremely close second. (I also get a kick out of him being second in everything. XD) Least Favorite character: Gastro is an absolute waste of a character. Sorry not sorry. His gun into ramen does make for some really funny memes though. XD 5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): KARMAGISA FOR LIFE!!! I also firmly support Shuuritsu, Karushuu, Sugizaki/TomoYuki, and Chihaya. Character I find most attractive: Karma... Character I would marry: Karma but not Karma because I know better than to get tied down to that. Wait... maybe Nagisa. An unpopular opinion: Hiromi is redeemable. Now hear me out! Until I wrote it into Life in Retail, I hated her just as much as the next person, but surprisingly? She's just as much a victim of the same type of abuse as Nagisa, and that's just sad. :/ No it does not make it okay, but generational trauma is quite difficult to overcome for anyone of any age. My Canon OTP: I feel like there's only one to choose from, so Karasuma x Irina. My Non-canon OTP: KARMAGISA! Most Badass Character: So, I'd say Karma, but it's a tie between Nagisa, Itona and Kaede imo. They're all unexpectedly badass because of their height, and I love that. Most Epic Villain: Tentacled Reaper 2.0. 😢 It's also very sad. Pairing I am not a fan of: Fuwa with anyone. She's a queen all by herself. 😊 Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Tie between Karma, Shuu and Nagisa. Karma because they always make him so heartlessly cruel sometimes and he really isn't. Shuu because they basically make him Karma as though he weren't his own, completely valid person. And Nagisa because they make it seem like he likes girly things when he clearly has issues with his femininity. Like, come on people. (Realized I answered this for fanfic writers, not Matsui. 😅) As far as Matsui goes, I don't think he did anyone wrong. That's probably also an unpopular opinion, but if everything was done right and perfect, then you'd have nothing to add, and as an avid fanfic writer, I think the more perfect characters are the ones your own mind can add too. Their background, their personality, anything really. And Matsui has an all-star cast of characters that do just that, feed the imagination with a good foundation. Favourite Friendship: Another tie between Nagisa & Sugino and Karma & Rio. Character I most identify with: Karma Character I wish I could be: Karma XD

Frog on frog observation - as we battled and searched through the winery we checked out everything except the outhouse (more pressing concerns.)  Izel was the first to answer the call of nature after battling druid after druid, in a moment of bated breath waiting to see what’s behind the door - and it’s a frog.  Izel thankfully had the presence of mind not to then close the door and patiently wait his turn - frog hopped off about it’s business.

He killed his own sister, Didyme, because he didn’t want Marcus to leave as he and Didyme were mated and wanted to dip from the Volturi. Aro is enslaving and kidnapping vampires on the reg.

He is the only member of the Volturi that Aro has not forced to stay. Caius stays on his own, he only uses Corin’s ability to cure his boredom when he isn’t committing mass murder or punishing lawbreakers.

Ciuld you talk about why you like her so much? Gumilla, i mean.

OH, Gumillia. Yes, I do like her a lot. I can ramble about Gumillia.

I like her personality, mostly. Held talks about her like she's a more responsible person than Elluka, so the impression that I think fans get of her in Daughter of Evil is that she's a grounded, sensible person, which of course is completely turned on its head in Gift from the Princess Who Brought Sleep when she turns out to be an abusive, loose-cannon cop when a member of the World Police.

The thing about her is not that she's sensible, it's that she's single-minded. For her, there exists only the goal, and the quickest path to get there. The only constraints she seems to understand is pedantic adherence to verbal courtesy (like insisting Allen use honorifics for her)--anything else, like laws and due process, or even just basic social skills, just goes completely over her head. Comparatively, Elluka clearly just doesn't care about these things due to how long she's been alive, but Gumillia seems mystified as to why Hob is so angry at her behavior, for example.

This is what makes her so badass. She's able to challenge, though not defeat, Irina during the DoE period, but by the time of Pierrot she's able to hold her own in a 4-way (5-way?) duel. She brutally dispatches Mayrana with ruthless efficiency despite Mayrana having stacked the deck to such a degree that even Elluka struggles against her. She has extraordinary outside-the-box thinking (such as her magic-shooting gun), probably because she doesn't even see the box to begin with.

All of this single-mindedness also applies to things other than magic. She has a small handful of people that she becomes attached to, and to them she is loyal to the end. Everyone else is an afterthought. She rescues Kayo from hell solely because she has Elluka's old body. She has no interest in anything outside of her core set of interests (such as romance, poor Ayn), but if it does interest her she's wildly obsessive about it.

I like that she's a character who doesn't express herself much, emotionally. That mothy makes clear that when she does have them, she actually has very deep emotions, but for the majority of her time onscreen she has flat affect. And the only time we do see her show emotion, she's having a complete breakdown. You could be forgiven for thinking that she doesn't let her emotions control her, but this is untrue. I don't think there is a single time in the series where she went against what her emotions were telling her to do versus what the "right" thing was, it's just that 9/10 what she wanted to do also happened to be the right thing. On the flipside, because her relationship with her emotions is so detached compared to the average person, I'm pretty sure it makes her pretty much impervious to any demonic influence.

I'll come right out and say it, I personally find her extremely relatable as a character and I really enjoy how unique she is among the rest of the cast.

There's more I could say, of course, but this really is getting pretty disorganized so I think I'll stop here.

I don't know if that counts as an unpopular opinion.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Gakuho x Isogai, Karma x Karasuma, Koro-sensei x Nagisa, Irina x Yada e Gakuho X Gakushuu. My age gap limit is 3 years for under 18s and everyone is a minimum of 13+. people who ship these couples know that this is a crime. I know it was supposed to be just one, but I couldn't.

Thank you, hun. 🤗 Omg! I have so many stories I wouldn't know where to start. I guess I'll talk about 'Hello Sorrow' a Heisenberg story I've been working on since the game RE Village came out, albeit slowly. When the hype for Lady Dimitrescu began I was more interested in the badass metal-manipulating guy from the trailer. Lol. And I swear as soon as my husband played through the game, in 2 nights - we got the game early - I was already creating an OC for him.

And Irina was born. Her name was based on a character from one of my earlier stories.

I originally wrote her as a villager caught up in the events of the village. She was a normal woman looking for an escape who would eventually have a run-in with the Lords. I connected her character with The Goats of Warding as a fraud character tormented by her choices in her struggle to escape, as her theme is what a person would do to reach their goals, both good and bad. She's actually the first dark character I've ever written and she inspired several more of my characters.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): These aren’t my top five (I don’t even know what my top five is) but these are just ships I enjoy and have thought about recently; Karmanami, HayaChi, Meguyada, Gakuren, and of course MAEISO (my number one 😉)

Character I find most attractive: Ahem, uh, hehe…Irina 🫣

Character I would marry: I don’t see myself making it to marriage with someone at all but if it were my choice, Isogai.

Character I would be best friends with: Yada, I feel like we’d vibe!

A random thought: An Assclass x Full Metal Alchemist au because I’ve become obsessed with FMA and I’m obsessed with AC so why not?

An unpopular opinion: Some of the stuff Gakuhou does just confuses me. I’ve seen people explain the reason why he is now and I have very much seen season 2 episode 13. But even then, when it comes to Gakuhou, I usually think “But what was the point? What did that prove? Why just why?” And it’s not because I don’t like him (I don’t but that’s not the point) It’s just…I don’t know.

Pairing I am not a fan of: *Sighs* Isogai x Gakuhou…why? Just why? Not only is it a pairing I’m not a fan of, it’s a pairing I down right despise. Legit, just why!?

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I wouldn’t say “screwed up” but just could have done better, most of the main campus kids. We’re supposed to see them all as assholes but could you really blame them. Since they’re not really reprimanded for their behavior of course most of them are going to keep acting like that. Their teenagers! Teenagers are going to keep acting like assholes if the adults around them enable it. I wish we got to explore the different classes dynamics and stuff. I really think it was a wasted opportunity.

Favourite Friendship: The ikemen duo of course!

Character I most identify with: This answer changes as the day goes on but now I’m going with Okuda! A quote from her that I particularly relate to: “I never know the right way to phrase things or how to express my feelings as a person. But I'm okay with that because equations and formulas always have a right answer. They're free of fussy word games and complicated emotions.” Have you ever heard me say “words are blegh” or something like that? Yeah because words are fucking hard! I don’t know if someone might interpret anything I say in the wrong way and think I’m stupid or something like that and it’s STRESSFUL!

Character I wish I could be: Do I even have to say it? MAEHARA ALL THE WAY! I swear, if I could have even a pinch of his coolness, I’D BE SET FOR LIIIIIIFE!!!

2. Do you have a favourite NPC?

I have soooooo many favourites that I don’t know where to begin so I’ll make it a bit easier on myself and do it on a game-by-game basis (excluding bosses that were friendly NPCs before the fight):

Dark Souls 3: I loved Irina of Carim. You don’t see too much of her because she’s hidden away at Firelink for the large majority of her quest but I always felt fairly sympathetic for her. Why was she really sent to Lothric? I know she was meant to become a Firekeeper but that never really sat right with me. Eygon’s (rightfully) pissed and despises her so I’m super curious to know what she did (if anything) to get sent there and why…

Elden Ring: Rya. I would die for her, 10/10 best NPC in ER. I loved her quirky stance and odd dialogue when I bumped into her in Liurnia and was pleasantly surprised to actually find her at Volcano Manor. I was even more surprised to see her in the form of a friendly giant snake. That only made her more endearing, however.

Bloodborne: I’d have to say my favourite is Eileen. I don’t talk about her nearly as much as I should but she’s amazing. A badass older lady that hunts hunters with one of the best transforming weapons? What’s not to like? Apart from the ending to her questline, of course. Whichever way it ends… (*sob*).

9. What are your three favourite weapons and why?

1) Farron Greatsword. It’s definitely my favourite weapon of all time. It’s a huge greatsword yet feels so light when you use its moveset. The way you dig the parrying dagger into the ground to do the big swirl then the overheard slam… so satisfying to just mess around with. On top of that the parrying dagger is fairly useful- I’m just shite at parrying so never end up using it.

2) Burial Blade. It’s such a satisfying weapon to use, particularly transforming it (yes I do spam it occasional bc the sound and animation is perfect skshshwhw). The lore surrounding it is great which also helps given that my favourite character is its original wielder. I adore the transformed backstep attack where you pull the target closer towards you. It’s totally different to anything I’ve ever experienced in a video game. It feels pretty satisfying using it on an enemy after you got destroyed with it in a boss fight.

It took me a while to decide on this one (literally everything in Bloodborne came to mind):

3) Blasphemous Blade. I adore this sword. As soon as I found it I swapped to strength/faith from my original dex build (immediately more viable imo). It’s L2 special attack is deadly with the right stats and scenario (destroyed a bunch of Cleanrot knights and player invaders with it). I ended up twin wielding BBs for a while. The little squirmy limbs only make it more endearing… maybe.

32. Who is your favourite Lord? 

I’m stuck between Gravelord Nito and the Twin Princes. I adore the former’s boss theme and design (fuck the boss room), his general vibe as well. The Twins’ fight is amazing and the lore is extremely tragic. I love the dialogue, particularly the line after you defeat them.

Favorite Character:

Koro Sensei, surprising absolutely no one. But Karma is an extremely close second.

Least Favorite Character:

It's a three way tie between Takaoka, Principal Asano, and Yanagisawa. I hate all three of them, but Yanagisawa slightly edges out the other two.

BROTP:

Honestly, Nagisa and Terasaka. I really liked the development of their relationship through season one. How the season started with Terasaka bullying Nagisa and pressuring him to go through with his plans and then the season ends with Nagisa worrying about Terasaka after finding out he was infected and Terasaka giving Nagisa the stun gun as a way to combat against Takaoka.

And also, I just have to mention Karma and Rio. Just the cheeky prankster duo, gotta love them.

OTP:

Karmagisa and Koroguri, I can't pick a favourite.

OT3:

I honestly don't have any ot3s in this series?????

NOTP:

I haven't seen any ships I disliked, but then again, I have genuinely only seen a small handful of really popular ships for this series. I don't know how many ships exist.

Favorite Storyline:

It's a tie between the Summer Vacation arc and the Final arc. Just the Summer Vacation had a great amount of tension and laughs and gave some of the more background characters a chance to shine and the assassination attempt at the beginning really showed off how far the class had come from the beginning of the series. Plus it was a fantastic way to bring Takaoka back and make him even more terrifying than his first appearance, all while the kids have to defend themselves because one teacher is buying them time and the other two are out of commission.

And I mean, what do I even need to say about the final arc? It's badass, it's beautiful, it's heartbreaking, it's bittersweet. We knew it was gonna end like this but it still hurts so much. But it's still a really satisfying ending... Even if it still makes me bawl my eyes out every time even after seven years...

Least Favorite Storyline:

The final exams arc. I dunno why, it just really didn't do anything for me. Maybe just because Principal Asano has such a focus in it and I hate him. Plus I just felt bad for Gakushuu having all of his friends taken away from him by his piece of shit dad, especially since he does that to them after they defend Gakushuu from his dad's critism.

What I wish had happened but didn’t:

For some of the other members of Class E to get some time to shine, because some of them really didn't get much screen time. Characters like Hara, Mimura, Okano, Hinata and Takebayashi, they deserve screen time too.

What happened that I wish hadn’t:

Koro Sensei dying... I mean what else would it have been? Aside from, y'know, Aguri dying...

I guess Irina flirting with the students. Like I get why she does it, she was already an assassin for quite a while when she was their age so that's how she acted in her teenage years but it's still uncomfortable.
