I was going over to reddit and saw some dude over at the gamergate sub that said that if Monica Rial was ever in a thing, they'd switch over to JP cause screw her and I think to myself if that's not how many SJWs think as well? Just on the opposite side. Not much upvotes to that one but oh well.

After looking through the entire KickVic debacle my conclusion is that...I care less about it than other things.

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOTE THAT THIS IS MY OPINION. FOR FANS OF FAIRY TAIL, I APOLOGIZE OF THE MENTIONING OF VIC MIGNOGNA AND FAIRY TAIL WOULD CAUSE YOU TO ASSOCIATE THE TWO WHEN YOU THINK OF FAIRY TAIL. Hey, it's sad that a man's legacy got torn down and sad that shit is still brewing but with that said, why should I be concerned here? I live halfway across the world, the only dubs from Funimation I like is Fairy Tail which has Monica Rial AND Vic Mignogna although Rial has the more major role, Mignogna just has the villain for that one arc role but still!

And that dub was finished way before the shitstorm even started. I'm just kinda figuring things out myself.

Todd Haberkorn supports Vic? So what?

Monica Rial is a piece of shit person? So what?

Marzgurl ruined Vic's life? I enjoy reading the long post she made ngl but again so what?

I'm passionate about Fairy Tail but the VAs were never really my go. Todd, Vic, Monica, Colleen and Cherami are the only VAs I really did a deep delve on and most of them I know from Fairy Tail and I intend to enjoy Fairy Tail the dub via pirating because I cannot afford a subscription. I read the manga though and am just at the Everlue arc in the anime. So yeah, there's that.

I guess I just really felt like that one dude from KiA. I felt like when someone points out that the Fairy Tail dub has Monica Rial as a major character in the show, they'd ask my opinion on this whole saga but now I know that it was all in my head.

Vic Mignogna is a voice actor in anime dubs (or was). He was best known as the voice of Ed in Fullmetal Alchemist and Brolly in Dragon Ball Z.

He is also a well known sex pest and creep* in the convention scene.

Back in 2019 a bunch of his victims came forward and finally went on the record, including fellow voice actors Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi. Funimation announced they would no longer hire Mignogna for future projects, and most cons cancelled his appearances.

And that would have been it. He could have ridden this out -- bigger creeps have done that before. But a right wing YouTuber, best described as "Technically a Lawyer" decided to raise money for Vic to sue his accusers on GoFundMe and convinced Vic to do so.

So Vic did. He filed a defamation suit against Marchi, Rial, Rial's fiance (for some reason), and Funimation. And Vic hired the absolute worst lawyer (at the advice of the YouTuber -- guess who manages that YouTuber's trust fund...). All along the way, Vic's fans (using the hashtag "IStandWithVic") harassed anyone who would speak against their hero. They claimed the victims made things up, they tried to misdirect... kiwifarms was involved... you get the picture. And in the end, in late-2019, after the defendants gathered a dozen sworn affidavits from other victims of Mignogna, the judge threw out Vic's case via Texas's anti-SLAPP laws and ruled that Mignogna had to pay the defendants about a quarter of a million in legal fees.

All of this was bad, and you'd think it would have ended there. Vic filed a lawsuit guaranteed to make him toxic to employ (what employer wants to start contracting a voice actor who might sue them on the off chance they decide to replace him? And Sony/Funimation wasn't going to take him back), and now he owes a bunch of money over it.

But YouTuber "Technically a Lawyer" and company convince Vic to APPEAL the ruling. So he does.

And what happened this month, three years and one pandemic later, is that Vic lost his appeal. Not only that, but because he incurred more legal costs for the defendants... HE MAY HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH MORE MONEY.

And Vic's fans, who have been led down this road with promises that the case will turn around any day if they just donate a little bit more... they're big mad.

And it's amazing.

(*- The convention I work for literally blacklisted Mignogna like a decade before this all happened after some of our staff had uncomfortable encounters with him at another event. Con organizers have been talking about this long before anyone went on the record)

Vic Mignogna has been voice actor for 27 years. He is known for many voices in anime most famously Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist and Broly from Dragon Ball Z. Yet back in 2019 a bunch of accusations came against him, and there has yet been any proof that he is guilty. He has been a target of harassment for a crime that he has not been convicted for. He has been cancelled from various conventions by a mob that wants to do nothing but destroy his career. Tiger Con, a convention in Valdosta GA has asked me to make a petition to see if people would be interested in having Vic Mignogna for their convention in 2022. We need to get at least 10,000 signatures, if we get more that be great too.

I’m also gonna mention @markiplier to warn everyone! The Anti-Vic people are trying to use the Darkiplier shirt Mark sold as a “Anti-Ron” shirt. The KickVic people are willing to go after Mark’s community to burn Vic Mignogna when Mark has no dog in this fight! Even if there are Anti-Vic people, please make sure that your favorite YouTuber isn’t dragged into drama he has no fight in nor probably has the knowledge of!

So I've been reviewing some things about Vic Mignogna and stuff. It was brought about because of the Fairy Tail dub. Decided to rewatch Fairy Tail in dub, the superior version, made by Funimation and one of the characters is voiced by Monica Rial.

So now with the entire debacle closed or still somewhat raging on, I decided to really look into the matter. My conclusion?

Vic Mignogna has been falsely accused by Funimation, Monica Rial and others and they should be held accountable for what they have done. With that said, it stands to reason that Monica Rial is essentially problematic but that line of thinking is not healthy hence separation of art and artist is what's important here.

I love Monica Rial's work as Mirajane Straus. Her voice embodies the character so damn well. I also heard Colleen Clinkenbeard, Erza Scarlet is an actor in the war against Mignogna but the idea still applies.

They are shitty people and I hope to hell I never get to meet them but their work on Fairy Tail has always been so great that it influenced my tastes in anime. For that, I thank them. For many, it's Vic who did that but to me, it was those two along with Todd Haberkorn and Cherami Leigh.

And fretting over if enjoying the previous works of problematic people is not gonna do me any favors.

I implore others to do the same.

Dear RoosterTeeth: Karma is a BITCH

I can’t help but think that the turmoil RoosterTeeth is going through is a Karma induced result of what they did to Vic Mignogna. 

For those who don’t know, Vic voiced Uncle Qrow in a series called RWBY. He’s been there since season 1 which means he was there since the BEGINNING. A few months ago, he was fired from RoosterTeeth because of some ILLEGAL information they got from Funimation in the form of some spiteful land whales who wanted Vic DEAD because he wouldn’t kiss their fat asses. 

Since Vic’s firing, this company has been spiraling downhill for many reasons:

1. The reveal of terrible working conditions for their animators, especially the ones who work on RWBY

1/3 of RWBY and GEN:Lock were animated for FREE because animators was not paid for overtime.

100+ hour work weeks 

For this they and their work environment are being called ABUSIVE by media outlets.

Ignored complaints

RoosterTeeth have since confirmed these accusations and apologized

Head of animation has since stepped down following pressure

2. Having a toxic fanbase is NOT a good look.

Namely harassing people over Bumblebee

Targeting real life cosplayers of characters they don’t like

3. A sudden 60% price hike for their services. Allegedly done in order to pay for animator’s overtime thereby putting pressure of fanbase to clean up their mess.

They face major backlash from fans.

RoosterTeeth are quickly realizing that no one cares about anything they have except for RWBY and most of them would just get a membership and then CANCEL once RWBY is over for the season and even that doesn’t seem to be worth it as pirating sites gain access to new episodes earlier and earlier.

I can’t help but laugh at this

But I’m also saddened because I love RWBY too and seeing it and Monty’s legacy go south like this is awful when I consider how long I’ve been following the series.

Apparently the Vic stans are trying to keep up the drama to get the VAs who spoke about him fired, they can’t let go of the drama

I mean I see what you mean. In my time of the break, a lot of convos I was in turned into being about the Vic situation without any warning. I would keep hearing about how everyone was upset and due to how I was trying to avoid it, I often came off as rude when I had to leave convos or ask if we could move on. If you are in a chat with RWBY fans, there is a 1 out of 10 chance it will be mentioned.
