#it might be an unpopular opinion but charlie was actually my favorite character

It's kinda funny to me that Husk mentions that Charlie is trying to fix others because she's avoiding fixing herself but I don't see lots of people talking about it (or about her in general) and even the show itself makes a very clear indication that Charlie's motives and actions for helping people aren't just because of pure altruism, don't get me wrong I do believe she has good intent and genuinely wants to help, but I personally what I interpreted, I feel it comes to the fear of her being unwanted and A LOT AND I MEAN A LOT of characters treat Charlie so shitty, but Charlie always bottles it up and treats them back with kindness, (at least until she can't no more and explodes), there are very few characters to which she responds back with violence being (Valentino, Lute and Adam (rightfully)), but in general she is extremely optimistic to the point it almost seems self damaging and I really wish it was talked more enough because it opens up a whole level of complexity to her character not many people give her, she isn't your typical altruistic good protagonist, she's extremely good to people out of her own fear of rejection, look how she behaved when she realized she damaged more than she helped Angel dust, yes it is normal to feel overwhelmed when you know you've harmed a friend, but Charlie's reactions although played for laughs, go to an extent of over compensation out of fear of being rejected and not receiving the benefit of the doubt to be forgiven, (also because it faces her face to face with her own flaws), just like how she always tries to do the same with others to the point of probably putting herself at harm, I'm not sure how conscious she is of it herself, but it's obvious she over compensates to anything to make sure people won't leave her, because as much as the show says she's got daddy issues, I feel more overall she's got abandonment issues in general, because literally both her mother and father left her at a point in her life and even when Lucifer comes back she's hesitant as to when is his staying going to last (I have problems with how quickly their issue was resolved but that is a discussion for another post).

My main point is that Charlie's issues with herself are so fascinating to me because I love characters who seem like the perfect altruist hero but actually unknowingly to themselves, have more emotionally "selfish" motivations, obviously I'm not saying Charlie has any ill intent, but she's literally an over protected princess of an exploited, unfair and exploitative system who has a very shielded and naive view of morals and goodness and badness.

I know this is fuckin Hazbin hotel, but I srs have so much brainrot.

I know critics of the morals of heaven and hell ain't anything new, but there is genuine good commentary in my opinion, not by any means perfect, but it definitely is doing insistent questions on the nature of a religious morality and using real life politics systems to somehow drive it further and connect it more with reality, of course modernizing it and treating it as a modern, tumblr version of so, but it's really good and the songs are amazing.

The point is, I'm really hoping they will explore more of the character of Charlie and how she transforms to her "demon" form when she is more emotionally unstable that could do a lot of commentary too if used right, but maybe I'm just projecting my own headcanons and ideas for her lol.

Actually I have no previous knowledge of any other media of the creator outside of Hazbin Hotel because I watched it some days ago in Amazon prime so yeah I just really like media and edgy media I'm sorry I liked this show, with it's problems and all I did like it, maybe it was too obvious for most, but I'm really new to the fandom so forgive my rantings

My first impression:

It's so hard to say cause that was all the way back in 2019... as far I can recall, he was an immediate fave.

My impression now:

STILL VERY MUCH A FAVE, NOW WITH CONTEXT BEHIND IT. He was already really endearing to me with his sarcasm and clear hidden power (I love me a good villain), the design, etc. Seeing a bit more of his personality ('you don't have to fuck to be fab' from the VA trying to excuse this deer's fruity ass behavior in the episode 7 preview I love it), seeing what gets to him as a character, finding out that he's also got some pretty fucked up shit happening to him? I want to unravel this man like a ball of string.

Favorite thing about that character:

I can't choose one I love so much about him... TBH I think the potential of him might be it. With what we have been given I have so many thoughts and hopes about him. Whether canon lives up to expectations or blows me away, I'll have a lot of fun with him.

Least favorite thing:

If his trivia page is to believed, my man apparently has rancid dental hygiene. I choose to Ignore it.

Favorite line/scene:

So far it is tied between what we saw in the episode 7 preview and his reaction to Husk saying that he is on a leash. Love my man being so close to Losing It.

Favorite interaction that character has with another:

Calling Husk his pet. His little near sing song exclamation of that made my brain go a little rabid.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more:

All of them.... Husk and Niffty, or a focus on Husk. Husk seems to know quite a bit about Al and even (sometimes) has the balls to stand up to him. I want to see more of that.

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character:

Snatcher. It doesn't help that Husk reminds me of Conductor and I dig a fan dynamic of Snatcher doing Soul Shenanigans with the Conductor.

He has a tail. I think that has been confirmed as not true but you can rip that tail from my cold dead hands.

I don't know what the popular or unpopular opinions are, cause I look for fanart/fan writing and avoid everything else like the plague... A lot of people seem to really be clinging to the idea of him being like a father to Charlie thanks to ep 5, and while it is cute and I wholeheartedly support the content and want more....

That whole debacle was NOT Alastor wanting to be seen as a father figure. It was 100% to get under Lucifer's skin since Luci just completely undermines him/his power (I also have theories about it that can not currently be confirmed so..) Dad!Alastor is great but that's just the Incorrect interpretation canonically speaking.

I still will happily enjoy the fancontent though.

Oh em geeeeee!!! The finale was so good!!! The first few episodes were a little rough but it all came out for the better. The animation was so good, the fighting scenes, the characters, everything was just so good. I think a lot of the criticisms that it gets are reaching hard. Especially the animation. Like dude who cares if the camera switches perspectives a lot. I didn’t even notice it until some YouTuber talked about it. One thing I do not like however…is the music 😭 I loved the last song in the finale. It’s giving Disney princess and it fits everything else? Um. I love the jazzy ones like stay gone, and Lucifer vs alastor. Everything else reminds me of gacha life. Heaven is forever and poison is catchy and fits, everything else was freaking annoying. Then again I hate musicals. Also unpopular opinion but I do not like the song loser baby. Yeah I said it

Charlie and Vaggie have to be my favorite couple in the entire series. At first I didn’t really care for Vaggie but dude I’m so happy we got some backstory and even character development. She’s probably my top five now. She’s still kind of “just Charlie’s girlfriend” but at the moment I think it kinda fits. I’m assuming she’ll become her own character next season. Still very proud of her!

Charlie is so amazing!!! I love her. I can’t even describe it! I love how she’s not just happy all the time but she worries, she’s angry, she’s sad, she’s insecure. She’s not one dimensional like some main characters. Her demon form is cool asf. I’m happy she actually realized she’s the princess of hell and went full demon mode. I still feel like she was holding back. Maybe that’s just me. Also wtf happened to the cute goat thingie???? Is he dead? He was so cute 😭 also I love her cat keekee. Just adorable.

Cherri bomb’s character was a little strange to me. Like why is giving drugs to Angel? I know she’s a sinner and stuff and doesn’t care about redemption but if she was a good friend she wouldn’t have done that: it’s not like her from what I’ve seen from the addict video but hey! Maybe we’ll get some understanding next season.

Alastor is ok. I don’t care for him but he’s cool.

The egg boys are top tier. Rip sir pentious or whatever his name was.

Angel dust is amazing. His character development is just 😭😭😭 dude I’m so glad he isn’t just the “haha sex joke” anymore but rather “haha sex joke” because that’s his personality rather than just to make the show funny. so my unpopular opinion is that episode 4 was not needed and should’ve waited till season 2. When I think back to it…it just feels like a filler episode? It went too deep for only episode 4 and like they don’t even talk about it after that? And it’s not because of the assault scene. I thought it was written very good it just wasn’t good for s1. I think it should’ve been saved. Him and husk are so cute but I’d like for them to stay friends for a while. I think Angel needs to learn about platonic love before romantic love and build on trust.

The angels were super cool. the character design are freaking awesome. I love how the excoriates are all women lmao. I like how even heaven isn’t really sure about heaven either. Adam is annoying but he also kept the show interesting. Lute is so badass. The way she ripped off her arm??? 😍 I hate her but love her. And I just love how we have an evil female character. She’s evil because she wants to dammit! The aspects of Christianity was kinda eye opening. As someone who reads the Bible I understand where the angels are coming from but also the demons. Does anyone really know what it takes to get to heaven? Adam was technically right from a biblical point. Follow the commandments and you should get to heaven right? Well not really which is why heaven is kinda tricky. Again super cool. 🤭 I love biblical references in stories.

One thing I love about the show…is how good the female characters are written. Might be an unpopular opinion but I think they’re written amazingly. They have their morals, they’re not all chasing after a man or only living for a man, they have their motives, some are evil, some are good spirited, and some fall into that grey area. I think Vivi wrote them perfectly.

Anyways I rate the show 9/10. I honestly thought I wouldn’t have liked the show after first three episodes but everything else made up for it. I love the show!!! So sad it’s ended already but 😔

Idea for a story

Specific only to my humanverse, he loves dancing and pursued ballet secretly as to not incense a father who saw him as a disappointment and he keeps this hobby very close to his chest even as he joins the Autobots. OP here plays the piano in his free time, and the music makes him miss dancing, and he does so when he thinks no one is looking, except OP realizes he's been there all along! He's super embarrassed by it, but OP validates his love for the art and encourages him to dance along if he feels like it. At some point, he gains the courage to put on a performance for the team, who love it, (They sometimes have nights where they can showcase their talents for fun) and it's the first performance he's ever done and the first time he feels like he has an actual family.

My first impressions of wilbur were during the election arc as thats when i joined the fandom, i genuinely thought he was just a kinda chill older brother figure Tommy looked up to because i only saw revolution based content from cc!wilburs videos and the first dsmp sadist animation that got me into the fandom [ as i was subbed to her before those animatics ]

My impression now is that he's obviously not doing well mentally slipping back into his pogtopia mindset, he was never properlly villianous as the only times it was implied was through HIM saying it, kinda gaslighting himself into being a villian, the guy was just mentally ill. I think that now due to the guilt he feels with Ranboo and Ghostbur, knowing how bad limbo is thats why he's slipping back into it, he's one of the only characters where you properlly see the 'ugly' side of him, the side that snaps at people and tells them to shut up but he's no monster

I really like the moment in hitting on 16 where hes just there like lying on his stomach, testing redstone, because it's a written piece and not actual mc rp for that bit it shows a fun detail about his character. he's not sat up straight and professional nah hes lying there kicking his feet, twirling his hair i like the personality that comes with it

I had an idea for a fic called 'Chewing Tobbaco is Sticky' where c!quackity would find c!wilbur in front of an exploded burger van holding the drawing he made in Ho16 changing the places of Ranboo and Quackity on the podium, putting them both in 1st while attempting to burn the drawing of himself and Quackity kinda goes 'hey man thats not healthy???' and soft invites him into Las Nevadas now that the syndacite and bench trio now hate him and things ensue... might right up the full plan of it and post it here soon cause im not writing it so might as well get the idea out there.

How I feel about this character:

I think Bonnie is a super, sweet, young boy, who has a good relationship with his father. Even though, he seems so innocent, there is obviously a part in him, that can and will execute any order, without asking questions. This makes it very interesting to think and write about him. Also he is hot as fuck... C’mon... he is a boxer in the 1920, he could dick me down anytime.

Oh, well, he don’t have a love interesting in the show and I don’t know who I would ship with him. I love to read x reader stuff (especially by @bonniesgoldengirl ) Otherwise I would like to read Bonnie x Finn or Bonnie x Isaiah or even Bonnie x Michael, but with a weird stepbrother setting.

I would say, the fandom thinks he is so innocent, but I doubt that. Finn Shelby

How I feel about this character

He is baby! I completely ignore season 5 and he is baby to me. Young, innocent, can’t do something bad, even if he tried, virgin, gentle or shy with girls, wants to get to know them, before he fucks them. Ah, sweet fluff for everyone! I should write more about him and I still have three ideas for one shots or blurbs, I might upload later. He is notably the youngest of five, but this also means he is the softest of them. During the war he was still a child, he hasn’t been to the trenches nor did he witnessed a lot around him, which makes him more vunerable than his brothers.

Nevertheless, he grows and becomes a young man though the seasons. I think he has Ada’s and Tommy’s sass, but he still wouldn’t be mean without a reason.

Finn and... reader? I wouldn’t really ship him with someone on the show, but I still hope they give him a love interest next season!

I love him and it’s a shame he doesn’t get much screen time! Why? He is a loyal member of the Peaky Blinders? And what does he get? Nothing! Isaiah is a really funny and charming guy and they could have developed this more after John died. This show needs a charming guy and I don’t mean Tommy!

Michael Gray

How I feel about this character

This is complicated! I love him, especially farmboy Michael in season 2! But he is drawn to the dark side so much and even his actor Finn Cole says he has sociopath tendencies. I can agree on this! Michael is definitely a sociopath and I think he has a hard time connecting to another person. He is very cold-hearted and dismissive, but if you crack his hard shell, you might find something soft inside. We rarely saw him vunerable on screen, but I think he is capable of this too!

But I also think, Sex is a problem for him. He saw how his parents fought a lot when he was a child and then he was taken away. He was also raped in orphanage and bruised for his life. And even when he got back to Birmingham, he still sees how his cousins treat women and it’s not respectfully. Of course, he wants to be like Tommy, rich so he won’t have to be hungry ever again, feared so nobody will attack him and cold-blooded so nobody can hurt him anymore. He pushes all his feelings down, because he is afraid of them and he can’t handle these. (good example was the whole thing with Charlotte getting pregnant)  I would love to see him developing a  platonic relationship with a female character, because it would help him heal. He sure miss his sister, she was part of his misery as a child and I think she helped him, no matter if she was younger or older than him.

I really wished, he wouldn’t try so much to be like Tommy. It would really help him dealing with his trauma.

And I think in the next season one of them has to die q.q But I hope it’s not Michael...

None, he doesn’t seem like he would like to be in a romantic relationship. Even his marriage with Gina seems very practical. They fuck together and they scheme together. No romantic feelings involved. And somehow it works for them.

It is however really funny that Webber just goes and gives a speech insulting this super high-profile ecoterrorist group and acts like it’s no big deal and then they kill him. Shock of shocks.

8. Skeleton Key

Okay, points to this book for terrifying the shit out of me. God damn it does that shark scene scare me. Also, points for making me feel a little bit bad for a man who wants to nuke his own country because he thinks it will fix the place up. I’m still not entirely sure how that’s supposed to work, but that’s probably a good thing. I feel like understanding his thought process would say bad things about me. Still, I actually did feel sorry for him, if only a little. Dude was clearly mentally unstable and I doubt his son’s death helped at all. I also got sad about what happened to Carver and Troy. (Yeah, yeah, I’m a cringe fail American who has the American release. So sue me.) What a nightmare that must’ve been to endure... Otherwise, though, I’m not super into this book. The opening is just kind of meh and the way it leads into the rest of the plot seems a little bit unbelievable. Also, this might be an unpopular opinion, but Sabina annoys me. I would not get along with her at all and I can’t imagine her as a girlfriend. Skeleton Key does, however, absolutely excel at the emotional scenes. 

Also, why are all the spy agencies so comfortable with sending in a 14-year-old? Especially when they outright admit that the other attempts have all died horribly? Bureaucracy’s a bitch.

7. Point Blank

Boo, Dr. Grief! Boo! We hate your white supremacy! I’m so glad you got a snowmobile to the face, you deserved it. (Perks of books written by Jewish people--we aren’t afraid to give the neo-Nazis an unpleasant death.) Anyway, this book definitely isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t really say it stands out in the series. It definitely does hammer home the point of just how trapped Alex is, since MI6 isn’t going to just let him go after one mission, and let’s face it, the plot with the clones is creepy as hell, if highly improbable. But I’m largely just here to see the neo-Nazi get snowmobiled. That’s right, I just completely changed the definition of a pre-established word. I’m a rebel.

Also, I hate Fiona Friend so much and overall think she just didn’t need to be in the book, but the line about ‘I’d rather kiss the horse’ made me laugh so hard. Alex, you sass.

6. Snakehead

Okay, let’s talk about how genius the plan in this book is. I love it! I love how Yu wants to kill the people involved in the peace conference without making them into martyrs, so he comes up with this whole elaborate plan to stage a natural disaster. It’s incredible. This dude was thinking so far ahead. And he would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for that meddling kid... But anyway, I don’t see a lot of books where the villain really acknowledges that killing their enemies could just cause more problems for them via turning them into martyrs for a cause. Also, the way he’s so polite and soft-spoken while also being a complete monster... This book genuinely gives me chills. Extra bonus points for the part in the hospital, the absolute nightmare of having all your organs slowly removed and sold off and everyone around you is being so nice about it? ‘Oh, don’t worry, Alex, it won’t be so bad. Here, take your medicine. Do you need anything?’ Literally just. What the fuck. 

Also Ash can fucking fight me. You put your own godson in horrible danger on purpose! You killed your best friend! Bastard. 

...And just in case the book wasn’t disturbing enough, Yu’s fate at the end lives in my mind rent-free and I think about it on a concerningly regular basis considering that the chances of that happening to me are so low they’re practically in the negatives. Damn you, Horowitz.

I would also be remiss if I did not mention just how much I love the tagline ‘once bitten, twice spy’.

5. Crocodile Tears

Ah yes, the book that kickstarted my drift away from the church... I kid, of course. I drifted away from the church for completely separate reasons. But Desmond McCain is always going to scare the shit out of me. The ability to kill countless innocent people while blissfully quoting Bible verses (that he takes wildly out of context and uses for his own self-serving means) is... well, I could actually say a lot about what that reminds me of, but I’m here to rate books, not religion. Moving on. This book has some really stellar antagonists, and the plot is chilling in a way that feels a lot more realistic than most of the other books. Even if some of it is a bit farfetched (sabotaging a nuclear power plant? Really?), the idea of using disasters for your own profit... well. I’m sure I don’t need to elaborate on why that is so believable. The Poison Dome is also a really cool and chilling scene--even Alex, who has the luck of the devil, can’t get out of that one unscathed. Further scares come in with the fate of Harold Bulman--imagine having your entire existence wiped and your identity changed while you were asleep! The breakdown he has over it is almost enough to make me feel sorry for him, even though he was ready to exploit a teenager and make his life a living hell just to turn a profit. Note the word almost.

Also. The opening makes me cry. Specifically the line talking about how Ravi’s kids would ‘never meet Mickey Mouse’. I lose my goddamn mind every single time I read it. That little personal touch turns the scene from a statistic to a tragedy. Once again: Damn you, Horowitz.

4. Stormbreaker

Yeah, this one gets the special cover shot. And why not? What we are looking at here is the birth of a legend. Move the fuck over, James Bond, Alex Rider is on the scene now. Anyway, yeah, this book is pretty damn spectacular. It has its stumbles, but as the first book in a series, that’s to be expected. Still, it pulls you in from quite literally the first line and keeps you going right up until the end. (If you came here from my post of memes, you know how much the line ‘Killing is for grownups, and you’re still a child’ destroys me.) It has the debut of much-beloved characters such as, of course, Alex--but also Jack Starbright, and of course, the best MI6 agent of them all, which is to say Smithers. Hell, even Yassen Gregorovich, especially once you get through Russian Roulette... Man, that was a rough one. 

Seriously, though. This is a really good book. The scene with the Portuguese man-o’-war still gives me the chills to think about. (Have you ever looked up pictures of those things? They’re beautiful, but holy shit will they make you regret being born. Nature is funny like that.) 

We also get the introduction of, of course, Alex’s patented sass (his response to Sayle saying he relates to the man-o’-war is HILARIOUS) and we get the inherent humor of Alex screwing up an alias one time and then just going by Alex for the rest of the series so he doesn’t do that again. Really, kid, I know you’re not a trained spy or anything but did you never play pretend growing up? Ever? You can’t pretend your name is Felix for a little while? That sounds like a you problem.

3. Scorpia Rising

I distinctly remember when this book came out, actually. I was on vacation at the time, and I remember my brother annoying the hell out of the poor workers at a bookstore we frequented there to see if/when they were going to get it in. They did, finally, and we bought it immediately, and I was of course absolutely desperate to read it. He got to read it first, though. -_-

This is a great book, an absolute emotional rollercoaster all the way through. The way Blunt tricks Alex back into service by staging a shooting was exactly the kind of cold, brutal behavior I’d expect from him. Seeing Julius come back was shocking, but very exciting, too. And Razim makes an incredibly chilling villain, with his absolute disregard for human life and his desire to measure pain. Also, seeing Smithers’s house was so much fun. Smithers in this book was just really fun in general, but he’s really fun in every book, so... nothing unusual there. But also, I want an unwelcome mat. Please?

2. Eagle Strike

‘But Penny,’ you might ask, ‘why is this book so high on your list? It has so much of Sabina in it, and you said she annoys you.’ That is true. What does not annoy me, however, is basically the entire rest of the book. I love the tense opening, and then reading through Alex’s real-life ‘playthrough’ of Feathered Serpent is still one of my favorite scenes. Cray is absolutely incredible as a villain, with the way that he truly believes in his cause--which is undoubtedly a good one! Yet the extremes to which he will go for that cause, and the fact that he very nearly succeeds, are what elevate him to one of the most dangerous villains in the series. That scene with Charlie Roper and the nickels is something I can never seem to stop thinking about. Actually, I think about it basically whenever I think about large amounts of money paid in small increments... 

Also, I really enjoy how he gets into the whole plot in the first place, and I really enjoy Smithers saying ‘ah, fuck it’ and helping him out anyway. Go, Smithers. You once again prove me right in saying that you’re the coolest adult in MI6.

The revelation that Yassen knew Alex’s father is one that absolutely blew my mind first time around. The way his life was threaded into the lives of the Rider family--he worked with John Rider, was saved by him, killed Ian Rider, and then died for refusing to kill Alex Rider--wow. Wow. It gets to me. It really gets to me. This book is a masterpiece. I heard that it’s going to be what the second season of the TV series is based off of, and I’m so hyped for that. We love to see it, we really do.

1. Scorpia

I don’t believe anyone who says this book didn’t get to them at all. I just think they are lying. I don’t think it’s humanly possible to not be affected by this book. God. Just thinking about it reminds me of why I don’t think it’s possible. I mean, come on. We get all this backstory about Alex’s parents, we get tricked along with him into thinking MI6 killed his father, then bam, that was a lie, and Alex may have just fucked himself over big time. Also, that plot is terrifying! (And I bet anti-vaxxers had a field day with it, huh.) Julia Rothman is a really great antagonist, one of the only ones who didn’t go and explain her plan in great detail to Alex--the fact that she didn’t actually being a plot point was something I personally found pretty clever. In general, this book is... I tend to hate when people say they ‘can’t put it down’ because it’s usually an obvious exaggeration, but that really is how I feel reading it.

And again. If that ending didn’t get to you... Well, I just think you are lying.

i said it before but i love tragedy. and Damien rlly embodies this so hard as someone so completely set out to fail- and so he did. we have this young boy with an incredibly powerful ability who 1.) cant get help from his parents 2.) doesn't have the resources to contact any organization who could help him control his abilities 3.) even if he did, chances are he would be taken in an used for experiments until the day he dies with little concern to his wellbeing. literally his only option is being self taught and- considering that his reality is literally distorted his ability, and his only other example to live a moral life is fucking books, it's a wonder he managed to come out as well as he did, and i say that acknowledging that he committed murder when he was 19. now enter: everyone giving him shit for using his ability when it's the one thing in his life he can rely on. now, i personally think Damien can learn to really control his ability, but just seeing him play the loneliest game of poker with the shit hand he's been dealt, it's delightful to see him spiral. muah. chef's kiss.

least favorite thing about them

that Lauren Shippen ended his arc right when it seemed like his character had finally reached a turning point comparable to when his parent's abandoned him. i cannot stress how much Damien and Chloe's final conversation filled my with so much hope. we see Damien do something idk if he's ever done in his life before: tell himself no for the betterment of another. he's so close to giving into his desire to see Mark, literally driving back to the city, yet seeing Chloe -a victim of him alone, not his ability(because it doesn't fucking work on her), him!- shames him and steers him back onto the path to good. it's such a wonderful moment and leads to all these great possibilities for his characters and.....that's it folks? i try not to rag on Shippen too hard but this really boils milk yknow

Unpopular opinion: I’ve seen mixed on this but I really don’t mind Good and Evil all that much. Sure it’s not as good as Bring on the Men and it’s a little in-your-face, but I like that it adds the detail of Lucy inspiring Jekyll to test the formula on himself. It adds a bit more significance to her character beyond simply “another love interest”.

Favorite relationship: She and Nellie are married. No I’m not taking criticism on this.

Favorite headcanon: kay okay so going off of my Lucy/Nellie otp y’know how in Girls of the Night Nellie says she has a child? (btw the kid’s named Charlie in my head) I hc that Lucy is fantastic with kids. She’s a great mom to Charlie and he adores her.

Utterson:

First impression: he’s a lawyer I guess??? Oh and he has a gun. Cool.

Impression now: Mr. Seek! He’s great. (all my responses were pretty similar I guess I don’t really have issues with many characters)

Favorite moment: probably when he first sees Hyde turn into Jekyll. In the proshot rehearsal (I’m ignoring that the proshot exists) Merritt has such a stricken look on his face that kinda cracks me up he’s really not having a good time is he. Or for book canon the “If he be Mr. Hyde I shall be Mr. Seek” line. Love me some pun-master Utterson!

Idea for a story: I’m working on a multichapter fic from his pov actually! It’s an AU where he’s there for Jekyll’s first transformation. Might start posting soon if anyone’s interested.

Unpopular opinion: I don’t really care if he’s called Gabriel or John. I tag him as “Gabriel John Utterson” but always call him John in my fics. “John” flows better in the songs, so I don’t really have an issue with it.

Favorite relationship: in book!canon I ship him and Jekyll so hard, but it’s complicated in the musical. I love Lisa too much to push her to the side, so Utterson just kinda ends up pining the whole time :/

Favorite headcanon: My mind is blanking on Utterson headcanons rn, so I’ll just kinda say something random. I think he was at least partially expecting Hyde to come out at the wedding/reception and that’s why he made sure to bring his gun/sword-cane-thingy. OOOH here’s a headcanon: Jekyll TOLD him to bring his gun just in case something went wrong. Thus the “we promised, remember?” line.

First impression: hmmmm. im trying to remember. i remember i first got introduced to sammy macks by bucky and the first image i saw of sam was the cake wedding topper and i thought he was so so cool that he was a gay married dog. also i can't remember if i mentioned this but i literally first started getting into sam and max before the first official vr announcement and fhats what convinced me to stay

Impression now: i LOVE this gay married dog so much. hes so cool i love him for having a big noir/detective interest because its what started getting me really to look into pulp covers and noir history and i really love that fact

Favorite moment: all time favorite sam moments are all of the noir sam dialogue from 303 which isnt surprising but i think i also really like the conversation he has between charlie ho tep in 304 where he realizes hes a player character and a lot of his actions aren't his own and it's genuinely such a good way to draw player characters away from the player and really let them be their own person

Idea for a story: not really sam centric but its not like he wasn't essential but it was basically how noir max could be possible if you really fuck with the timelines and bend canon a little. i tried writing it out but it was way too over ambitious so i never got past the intro scene but i might have a thread on it somewhere on my priv :P

Unpopular opinion: one more thing. mmm actually two more. one. skinny sam is the bane of my existence you people don't even want men over 200 💔💔💔

two. i think sam being the straight man in the relationship is way too overplayed in snm fanon and in part i think its because i was analyzing season 3 like a mad man 24/7 at the height of my hyperfixation but his entire character arc there was realizing how hes been played as a relatively blank slate (even then thats kind of far to say because he still has a lot of personality showing through) and learning to take control of things for himself and taking the players control away from him which is SO heavily undervalued as a part of his story. i could go on about this for fucking ever but this is already really long

Hello my dear anon! Thank you so so much for asking, this message actually means a ton to me! Here’s what I’m sort of thinking, I hope that this answers your question, as well as anyone else who might be curious about the same thing :)

My personal favorites to write doing explicitly Christmas shenanigans are: Clyde, Pale, Paterson, Paul, and Charlie. I headcanon a couple of these characters as Jewish but I am more than happy to write them celebrating Christmas too! 

For Flip and my Kylo AUs, I do really prefer to stick to them only having interest in celebrating Hanukkah because they’re Very Jewish in my headcanons, and I just have a lot of feelings about Jewish people always having to compromise themselves and celebrating Christmas. Which I know is an unpopular opinion, but I would prefer to stick to my gut on that. 

However!! General winter shenanigans for Flip and my Kylo AUs are more than welcome! There are some exceptions to this too -- for example, with Ancient Emperor!Kylo, since neither of those holidays were around during the time that this AUs take place, I’m more than happy to write general Winter Solstice celebrations! Similarly, Supreme Leader Kylo exists in a universe where neither Christmas nor Hanukkah exist, so I’m more than happy to write up some fun new galactic holidays for him as well.

Favorite character: Currently, it’s a tie between Flora and Henry! (May have something to do with the fic I’m writing at the moment...)

Least Favorite character: The Storyteller. Whenever people criticise Flora’s dad— who did make some horrible choices that left Flora alone and isolated— I glance at the Arthur Cantabella and think... “He did the exact same thing to Espella but worse?” Yes, unlike Flora, Espella was  traumatised as a child. Cantabella did everything he could to help her, which is admirable! But it’s the fact that Cantabella took other people, erased their lives, probably giving them trauma, to fix Espella’s trauma. AND IT DIDN’T EVEN HELP ESPELLA UNTIL LAYTON AND PHOENIX CANE TO TOWN. Instead, Espella got branded as the Great Witch and the people of Labyrinthia turned on her. She was left even more alone than Flora was. For as lonely as Flora was, at least the St. Mystere robots cared about her and she had Bruno. Espella had Aunt Patty, her cat, and maybe Rouge who worked at the tavern. And by the end of it, Cantabella survived his illness. Baron Reinhold did not.

An unpopular opinion: I love Descole/Desmond, I’ve written a whole AU fic about him, but please can we get some appreciation for Arianna, Brenda, Janice, Melina or Angela as well? I want them to give Descole an intervention.

pairing I am not a fan of: Layton/Descole— I didn’t like it even before The Reveal. I just don’t understand the whole Villain/Hero shipping dynamic in general. Why would you want to date someone who tried to kill/maim you on multiple occasions? But that’s just my personal thoughts! (Charlie/Raphael don’t count— those two have a Tom & Jerry dynamic.)

character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Katrielle and Flora in LMJ. Why didn’t Level 5 give us an amazing sister relationship between these two? It still would’ve worked even with Flora’s ambiguous age. She’s older than Kat. I would say Flora’s a SPOILER! character, but then she still appears in the rest of the original trilogy, soo... what gives, Level 5?

favourite friendship: Not my favourite, but I think Emmy and Aurora have an under-appreciated friendship. And they have a lot in common! Both of them were used as pawns in someone else’s plan but they ultimately amount to more than just their ‘missions’.

character I want to adopt or be adopted by: Dalston would be such a cool uncle

when of if I started shipping it: I can’t remember the exact moment, but it was probably when I was replaying Miracle Mask and I just assumed Randall, Angela and Henry would all live together at the Ledore-Ascot Manor. (I know that’s not the official manor name after MM but that’s the one I use.)

my thoughts: My OT3s to end all OT3s. I’m not a fan of Randall/Angela on their own, at least what we see of them as teenagers, but I’d hope that Randall matures a lot more when he moves in with them in Monte d’Or. He and Angela would probably still argue, but Henry is there to keep them grounded.

What makes me happy about them: A  canon polyamorous ship? In my PL game? Okay, so nothing is said in-game that makes them officially canon... But there’s nothing to suggest this isn’t the case. It’s not like they kick Henry out of the manor, or Angela moves out of Monte d’Or with Randall. I like how it’s left ambiguous, so fans can make what they want of it.

What makes me sad about them: We never hear from them again after MM

things done in fanfic that annoys me:  Not so much as annoys me, but I feel sad when Dalston doesn’t get so much as a mention. He’s their friend too!

things I look for in fanfic: I’ve still yet to see a fic with a Ranhengela WEDDING/married life. I may have to write it myself

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Ranhen or Hengela are both good. There’s also Emmy/Angela! Or Dalston/Henry, or Dalston/Randall if you like rivals to lovers. Also, Desmond/Henry!

My happily ever after for them: They get married and live happily ever after in Monte d’Or and start a family.

Phoenix Wright-

How I feel about this character: My knowledge on Phoenix Wright is based on PLvsAA and a couple of playthroughs I watched. From what I’ve seen in PLvsAA, I really like Phoenix! ...But not enough to make me by the Ace Attorney games.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Layton/Phoenix! Good ship.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Phoenix and Maya, Phoenix and Luke, Phoenix and Trucy! I do love how he adopts Trucy and that might just tempt me to get the game she’s introduced in.

My unpopular opinion about this character: From an outsider’s perspective, I can’t see what the big deal with Phoenix/Edgeworth is? But again, that could change if I actually played the AA games.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wanted to see more Ace Attorney references/lore in PLvsAA... like Maya’s spirit channelling, but no.

my het ship: I guess I could see Phoenix hooking up with Rouge, the tavern owner in PLvsAA?

Favorite character: It’s probably Charlie? Or Raphael? But it’s very hard to choose, honestly.

Least Favorite character: I thought it was going to be Jean-Francois, but he’s honestly so hilarious I couldn’t find it in myself to hate him. I honestly like everybody! All the NPCs are great; I love how almost everyone in the town treats you like family.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Oh man… I haven’t given this much thought yet! I mostly just like Raphael/Marie right now, but I might like other ships in the future once I think about them more.

Character I find most attractive: Um… I’m honestly not sure.

Character I would marry: Again, I’m not really sure, haha... Maybe Duchess Elisabeth? She’s pretty cool.

Character I would be best friends with: Charlie!

a random thought: I absolutely love the mix of genres of music in this game! It’s so cool to see Baroque music getting some love. I especially love the harpsichord getting used in Phantom R’s theme and throughout the game. 

An unpopular opinion: I don’t know if it’s unpopular? But I really like Marie. She reminds me a lot of Espella from PLvsAA, who I always saw getting a lot of hate, and whenever I see a character getting hated a lot, I automatically love them out of spite, haha. 

My Canon OTP: I guess Raphael/Marie is canon? I was surprised at how much I liked the pairing; usually I don’t like canon romance, but, as you said in your ask, I also really enjoyed the sincerity of it. I feel like they’re really good friends too, and they just seem to really care about each other and want the best for each other.

My Non-canon OTP: I guess I do kind of like Raphael/Charlie? More as friends than romantically, but I really liked seeing Charlie begrudgingly grow to respect Raphael as the game went on. The moment when Charlie rescued Raphael was awesome too, and really got me invested in their relationship.

Most Badass Character: There’s a lot of those in this game! I’ll say Charlie for how insanely strong her arm is to be able to save Raphael and Marie at the same time, but Inspector Vergier and Duchess Elisabeth are very close behind her.

Most Epic Villain: Whoever built the Hanging Gardens, haha… Graf and Napoleon were kind of epic, but they also made me laugh a lot, so they don’t get to be “most epic.”

Pairing I am not a fan of: I don’t really have a good answer for this one… just… anything I don’t ship, I guess? I can’t think of any pairings I’d hate.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): No one in particular… I guess I would have liked to learn more about Elisabeth’s past, but overall, I feel like everyone was treated pretty well.

Favourite Friendship: I really like Marie and Josette! I wish we got to see more of them together; I really liked the stories of them growing up together in the convent.

Character I most identify with: Raphael, I think. I have perfect pitch like he does, and music’s a huge part of my life too, even if I don’t dance much, haha. I’ve also always been a nerdy “nice kid” in public too, so I understand how he likes switching between his two personas for different situations.

Character I wish I could be: Charlie, haha… she’s super cool, and I wish I had her self-confidence to just dress the way I want and be adventurous like her.

How I feel about this character: I love him so much. He’s such a good boy. From the moment I saw him, I knew he’d be my son. I love how he’s so musical, and how he’s a great cook, and how much he cares about his dad and his dog and his friends. I really love how he just loves to dance and how he turns everything he does into a dance or performance. He’s just amazing and adorable.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Marie, and maybe Charlie.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Charlie when I’m not shipping them, Fondue when I am. I also wish we could have seen more of Raphael with Michel and Emile! I think the three of them had a lot of potential for friendship.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I can’t remember his name, but Raphael really should have helped that man near his apartment with running his store. Raphael kept promising him and not actually helping… 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I’m just mad that his dramatic ‘getting shot’ moment wound up being ‘only a scratch.’ I was robbed of my Charlie and Raphael hurt/comfort moment! :’D I’m glad that he didn’t die, though.

Favorite friendship for this character: Probably tied between Raphael and Charlie and Raphael and Fondue.
