Actually going insane over the implications of Jason asking Dick to be the Robin to his Batman in Battle for the Cowl.

Like I initially took it at the purely surface-level of Jason wanting a partner in the general sense. Which made sense, it's a huge responsibility and a lonely one so an assistant/sidekick/partner seems a no-brainer if you can get one.

But then I really thought about it, because Jason is not asking Dick to be his partner in the general sense; he's not even asking Dick to be his Nightwing. He's asking Dick to be his Robin.

And they both know exactly what Jason means: "Be the light to my darkness. Be the smile to my scowl. Be the hope to my fear. "

He's saying "Be 'Robin'; be the embodiment of Love and Justice and Goodness. Be the exceptional person that you have always been. Be the slightly-less exceptional person that I was when I wore your colors. Be the person that I was in the process of becoming and might have been (or might still be), if only Joker hadn't clipped my wings."

He's saying "I am prepared to become vengeance, become the Night. And I will go further than Bruce ever dared to, because it is what is needed. I will be the necessary evil. But you don't have to be. If Batman is Gotham's curse, Robin has always been its blessing. I will be the brutal punishment to our world, and I am asking you to be its incandescent gift."

He's saying, "Be for me, what we were for Him. Be my anchor, my comfort, my hope. Remind me what it's all for, why it's all worth it. And remind yourself as well."

I should add poledancing to the list of odd talents that Akira has but has no business having due to growing up in a small suburban town. I only had access to it bc i had a YMCA that had a MASSIVE gym (in a criminally underfunded part of the city); there were poles put up alongside some other structures to allow counselors to make up some shit for us to do lmao

Hes got a flair about him; speaking from experience, it is FUN to do gymnastic shit like that, and its really really REALLY good for ur core. Other things on the list are basic gymnastics (he hates that shit tho, the classes he took sucked ass), Parkour (loves this; less about running and more about utilizing ur core and bracing for falls), and Knife Flipping/Spinning. Theyre all odd things that coincidentally ended up being VERY good experience for the metaverse :) YEAH the metaverse makes it easier to pull off tricks, but he already knew how to do all those things; you cant get Ryuji or Yusuke to spin kick off a pole wo having them fall and bust their ass- Its ALL skill babey

For some random thoughts with shoulderholsterfreak, I was just thinking about the scene in Lesser Evil where Thrawn is sitting and staring at the sunset (a lot of symbolism, there) and talking to Quilori. What I find curious is how adeptly Thrawn maneuvers Quilori and gets him to believe his bullshit about the existence of other beings like the Magys among her people. He displays what seems to be genuine emotion and even incorporates subtle mannerisms and cues in order to “sell” his faked mental state.

You see this happen a few other times, a couple examples (among all the cosplaying he does) being his reportedly highly convincing display of devastation over the “destruction” of the CEDF ships, the scene in Chaos Rising where he pretends to lose his mind in panic shouting about pirates to get the fleet’s attention, and then yelling at the stormtrooper in the 2017 novel to get the guy to move. All this begs the question: if Thrawn is that good of an actor, what else has he faked?

I also want to know how someone who is supposedly so socially inept and seemingly so utterly clueless when it comes to politics is capable of this kind of manipulation. How is it that a man who can’t understand the machinations of his own people’s interfamilial drama can ingratiate himself to Palpatine, a dictator whose customs and culture are completely foreign to him?

Edit: there’s also the fact that the books repeatedly hint that Thrawn knows far more Basic than he lets on and you really have to wonder what that’s about, lol.

You heard a faint noise of someone rubbing something aggressively while moaning and whimpering quietly..

What the fuck?

You just chalked it up to you being tired. Yeah.. you're just tired. There's no way someone's fucking jerking it in your closet. No fucking way! So you quickly get up, turn off the lights, and jump into bed. Attempting to ignore the noises.. eventually they stopped.

The next morning you immediately check the closet

It's empty.. but there are 2 things left behind. A white stain on your closet door and a pair of your underwear completely soaked in the white liquid..
